Another character trailer has arrived for RZA's martial arts movie, The Man With the Iron Fists. This time it focuses on Lucy Liu's character Madame Blossom. The trailer has got some new footage from the film, and in case you missed the first character trailer for Bronze Lion, check it out here!

Here's the Synopsis:

Presented by Quentin Tarantino, the action-adventure is inspired by kung-fu classics as interpreted by his longtime collaborators RZA and Eli Roth. Making his debut as a big-screen director and leading man, RZA-alongside a stellar international cast led by Russell Crowe and Lucy Liu-tells the epic story of warriors, assassins and a lone outsider hero in nineteenth-century China who must unite to destroy the clan traitor who would destroy them all.

Since his arrival in China's Jungle Village, the town's blacksmith (RZA) has been forced by radical tribal factions to create elaborate tools of destruction. When the clans' brewing war boils over, the stranger channels an ancient energy to transform himself into a human weapon. As he fights alongside iconic heroes and against soulless villains, one man must harness this power to become savior of his adopted people.

The movie hits theaters on November 2nd. Have you enjoyed what you've seen from the movie so far?

Universal Pictures has released the official plot synopsis for Jeff Wadlow's adaptation of Mark Millar's Kick-Ass 2! You've seen a ton of great photos from the set showing our favorite characters from the series being awesomely brought to life! It's exciting to see this movie coming together!

Kick-Ass 2 stars Aaron Taylor-Johnson, Chloë Grace Moretz, Christopher Mintz-Plasse, Morris Chestnut, John Leguizamo, Donald Faison and Jim Carrey. It's set to be released on June 28th, 2013.

Here's the run down of the story:

Kick-Ass, Hit Girl and Red Mist return for the follow-up to 2010's irreverent global hit: Kick-Ass 2. After Kick-Ass' (Aaron Taylor-Johnson) insane bravery inspires a new wave of self-made masked crusaders, led by the badass Colonel Stars and Stripes (Jim Carrey), our hero joins them on patrol. When these amateur superheroes are hunted down by Red Mist (Christopher Mintz-Plasse)—reborn as The Mother F%&*^r—only the blade-wielding Hit Girl (Chloë Grace Moretz) can prevent their annihilation.

When we last saw junior assassin Hit Girl and young vigilante Kick-Ass, they were trying to live as normal teenagers Mindy and Dave. With graduation looming and uncertain what to do, Dave decides to start the world's first superhero team with Mindy. Unfortunately, when Mindy is busted for sneaking out as Hit Girl, she's forced to retire—leaving her to navigate the terrifying world of high-school mean girls on her own. With no one left to turn to, Dave joins forces with Justice Forever, run by a born-again ex-mobster named Colonel Stars and Stripes.

Just as they start to make a real difference on the streets, the world's first super villain, The Mother F%&*^r, assembles his own evil league and puts a plan in motion to make Kick-Ass and Hit Girl pay for what they did to his dad. But there's only one problem with his scheme: If you mess with one member of Justice Forever, you mess with them all.

The Ultimate Badass POPEYE Art

We've featured several pieces of Popeye art over the years, but this is one of the coolest freakin' character designs I think I've ever seen for him! There's a CG animated film in the works over at Sony right now, and if it doesn't look as badass as this then, I don't care to see it. The art was wonderfully created by Lee Romao, and in my opinion he just set the standard for what the movie should be going for. Check out the photos and let us know what you think of this Popeye design.

Jim Carrey In Talks To Star In LOOMIS FARGO!

The term "the perfect storm" really scares me and I am not talking about a fishing movie starring George Clooney and Mark Wahlberg. It is what I call the situation where Hollywood puts together a bunch of elements, which seem too good to be true, into a pot and they see what happens. That is what is happening with Napoleon Dynamite director Jared Hess’ new project. The film is called Loomis Fargo and the talent surrounding it at the moment has the making of the perfect storm. THR has reported that the lead role is close to being cast... and the actor to take it will be Jim Carrey. Here is what they had to say:

The script was worked on by Danny McBride and Jody Hill, who started with an original draft by Up All Night creator Emily Spivey. The most recent version is by Chris Bowman and Hubbel Palmer, who worked on Fox's Napoleon Dynamite television show.

Carrey, who is still in negotiations, would play the ex-military leader of a band of Southern armored car guards who pull off a huge heist. The project is based on a 1997 theft in Charlotte, N.C.

From the outside looking in, this seems like it has all of the elements of a hilarious movie. I know that a lot of people give Hess flack, but I enjoy his work. Minus Gentlemen Broncos, the dude has a pretty good record. Do you think this perfect storm will produce something positive? Or do you think it has the potential to destroy everything in its path?

EVIL DEAD Used So Much Blood that it Made Jane Levy Sick

For those of you that decided to watch the leaked NYCC Evil Dead footage, you know there's going to be a hell of a lot of blood in the remake. There was so much blood used that it made the film's star, Jane Levy, physically sick! Hell! She still has blood coming out of her ears! She says there so much blood and that the movie is so crazy that the movie is going to have issues getting an 'R' rating. Here's what she told MTV,

I think it's going to be worse than an R. There's a lot of blood. There's so much blood that the blood got stuck in my ear and I had a terrible ear infection when I was there and couldn't hear for three weeks.

This is really gross, but, I cleaned my ear three weeks ago — and I clean my ears every week — but there's still blood, and I'm not even kidding, there's still red coming out of my ears. That's not a joke. It's really kind of scary.

That's pretty crazy, but it's not like she or any of the other actors weren't warned. Bruce Campbell sent them an e-mail, and even told them what to expect when they auditioned,

I sent them an email before they started shooting. 'Don't party. You're going to need all the strength you got. Be ready and be physically able. When we were casting in the audition room, I surprised a few actors by saying, 'Are you ready for special FX make-up? Have you ever had special FX make-up? Are you ready for that?' And they're like, 'Oh yeah, sure. It's like riding a horse. It'll be easy.'

Campbell grinned his signature grin at the memory, saying, "Well... they found out quick."

Campbell goes on to also admit that the movie is going to have rating issues with the MPAA saying,

We're going to have ratings problems out the butt. We have a screening coming up later this month, and I'm like, 'Good luck, Chuck!'

I want to see that cut of the film! I want to see the cut with everything before they have to start editing out all of the insanity! Are you happy to hear the movie is so violently hardcore that it might get slapped with an NC-17 rating?

Filmmaker Freddie Wong has created another great short film, this time he's made a radical car chase scene using R/C cars! The intense high octane short was inspired by the upcoming video game Need For Speed: Most Wanted. I love the fun little sets and details that they packed into this thing. They even managed to throw an R/C helicopter in there as well!

TRANSFORMERS 4 Main Character Will Be High School Girl

Michael Bay is starting to prep up to make Transformers 4, which will include a whole new cast of actors, and we'll be seeing some new robot characters as well. Shia LaBeouf is not returning, and that's ok with me. It will be interesting to see what story they tell, but we know that it will be a continuation of the the first three movies, and not a complete reboot.

It was recently revealed by Spoiler TV that Paramount Pictures and Bay are looking to cast the lead female character and her boyfriend. Here's the description...

The new female lead that they are looking for is a high school senior and her boyfriend a Texas racing driver.

I like that they are looking to cast a lead female character in the movie. It's nice to switch things up a bit. I'm curious to see see what type of actress they end up casting. Since this is Michael Bay we're talking about I imagine the character will be part of the hot popular crowd in school. What other kind of girl would date a Texas racing driver? What type of girl would you like to see cast in the role?

What do you think about the new direction this franchise is taking?

Vintage 1970's Homemade STAR WARS Costumes

Star Wars costumes are awesomely elaborate these days, but back in the 1970's and 80's the fans that made their own costumes didn't have much to go off of other than what they saw in magazines, or recalled by memory of what they saw in the films. Some of them turned out great, other's turned out crude, but they all turned out pretty awesome in their own special way!

This is just a small collection of several other photos from the Flickr group Growing Up Star Wars. Here's a little background and description from the photo above from Walter Keegan:

Back in the late 70's everyone wanted to get in on the Star Wars money train. Places like Great Adventure in NJ found a way around licensing with these "Star Battles" pictures with Derth Nadar and C3Copeia. Here's how it's done:

1. Grab 2 mannequins
2. Buy a Darth Vader helmet and stitch some shiny edging onto black material to hang on one
3. Spray paint one gold and glue on a bunch of electronic parts and bungee cords
4. Find a kid who lives and breathes Star Wars, give him a non-laser gun (who makes sure to point at the robot, not Darth. Darth was cool.)
5. Charge the kid's parents $5 for the photo

Check out all the photos and let us know what your favorite costume is! Did you ever make your own Star Wars costume? If so, how did it turn out?

Who Wants To See A Sneak Peek Of IRON MAN 3?

I can’t help myself. I am a self-proclaimed spoiler junkie. I love previews and leaked info. Due to the fact that, that is not a popular way to be, I try to keep that under wraps. Anyway, this really isn’t spoilerish, but it is cool.

For those of you who are interested, go to the Iron Man 3 page on Facebook and like it. There is a meter on the page and it needs to get to 100%. Once it has enough “Likes” they promise to reveal a new sneak peek of the film.

The sooner you do this, the sooner we can see what Director Shane Black has in store for us. Last I check it was only at 10%.

Successfully Transitioning Into An Adult Actor - Infographic

$

Hollywood notoriously chews up and spits out child actors. So with so many of them falling by the wayside -- from drugs and other erratic behavior to simply not being able break away from their childhood image -- is there no clear path to successfully transitioning into being a viable adult actor? The ratio isn't great, but there are many who do manage to keep their head above the water. Vulture has put together this nice little infographic that maps out similar benchmarks hit by three male stars who started off as child actors: Joseph Gordon-Levitt, Ryan Gosling and Shia Labeouf.

If they replaced Shia with Leonardo DiCaprio, I think I could more fully get behind this adult actor survival guide. I just don't think Shia is on par with the other two as far as being leading men -- not to mention not making complete jackasses out of themselves while promoting their films. I'd like to see other child actors with other similar paths mapped out as well... say, Elijah Wood and Jason Schwartzman?

Check out the infographic and share your thoughts!

Jon Chu on MASTERS OF THE UNIVERSE and the Script's Awesomeness

$

G.I. Joe: Retaliation director Jon Chu is set to direct the big screen adaptation of He-Man and the Masters of the Universe. This movie that has been trying to get made for years, and it looks like it's finally going to happen with Chu at the helm.

In a recent interview with CeleBuzz the director talks about about the film project, why he decided to adapt another toy franchise, how and why he was blown away by the script, and when the movie will start shooting. There's a lot of good info here that might help get you more excited about this long awaited movie. Here's what the director had to say...

On Why He Chose to Make Another Classic Toy Adaptation:

I was approached about doing a Masters of the Universe movie and while at first I was skeptical, I read the script and I was blown away. I had no idea what to expect but it was such a fresh, UNEXPECTED approach I was immediately intrigued. I never expected to connect on a human level to a MOTU movie but I really plugged in emotionally. That alone, got me excited to see what we could do with the property.

MOTU is such a challenging puzzle to make into a movie that works to a contemporary audience but the script seemed to really crack it for me. I think people are really going to be surprised at the rich story we have the opportunity to tell in this world. Where you think MOTU goes left, the script goes right and it was just very clear to me this was something very special. It was never a conscious decision to do another “toy” movie but when I read this I couldn’t put it down. And I definitely couldn’t let anyone else make it but myself. It was just too much fun.

On How much room he has to play with to adapt the franchise, and how the 1987 won't be his inspiration:

I feel like there’s a lot of room to crack open the Masters of the Universe story. We are still in our process and I think we have some great seeds planted but making one of these types of movies RIGHT takes a lot of TONAL tightroping so we’re just going to play for the next several months. Play with designs, play with the characters, try new things, maybe go too far on some things and pull back. The process is really important to find where the right line is so we can land right on it. I think that’s what can dig out the properties full potential for a cinematic rebirth.

I don’t really think about the 80s movie when looking at this movie because the script here is so strong and so unique. I think the characters are so grounded and layered I never expected that in a Masters movie so to me it’s on a totally different level. Don’t get me wrong, I love the 80s movie for full nostalgic reasons but this script feels like it’s a totally different genre than that one.

On when he will start shooting the film:

I can’t say exactly, but my first priority right now is still G.I. Joe: Retaliation. We are finishing the dimensionalizing of the film and I want the audience to be blown away by the 3D work we do in it so that takes a lot of my time and energy currently. It’s a lot of technical and creative stuff put together which I love. I can’t wait for people to see what we’ve done, finally!"

Like G.I. Joe I was a huge fan of He-Man when I was a kid, I owned a lot of the toys and the Castle Greyskull playset. I even remember this one playset I had where you could pour some neon green slime all over your toys. It was some kind of He-Man torture thing. Needless to say I'm excited to see a new movie getting made, and it's great to hear that the script has the potential to blow us away.

I'm looking forward to the G.I. Joe movie as well, I really loved what I saw from the stuff that was released before the film's release date was pushed to March 29th, 2013. If it turns out to actually be good, then I'll be even more excited to see Chu's vision of He-Man up on the big screen! What do you think about what Chu had to say about his next epic film project?

Frank Darabont's L.A. NOIR gets Series Order from TNT

The three time Oscar nominated, Shawshank Redemption director and The Walking Dead series genius, Frank Darabont has found a solid home for his upcoming TV series L.A. Noir. Thanks to Deadline, we now know that it has been picked up for six episodes next year!

This is a project that I have been excited about since I first heard of it. Here's what the report goes on to say, giving some more details on the series...

TNT has given a series order to Frank Darabont’s period drama pilot L.A. Noir, which has been picked up for six episodes. Based on the book L.A. Noir: The Struggle for the Soul of America’s Most Seductive City by John Buntin, the project chronicles the battle between Los Angeles Police Chief William Parker and mobster Mickey Cohen, a one-time boxer who rose to the top of L.A.’s criminal world. The series is a fast-paced crime drama set in Los Angeles during the 1940s and ’50s. It’s a world of glamorous movie stars, powerful studio heads, returning war heroes, a powerful and corrupt police force and an even more dangerous criminal network determined to make L.A. its West Coast base.

LA Noir stars Jon Bernthal as Joe Teague, an ex-Marine now working as an LAPD cop in an era rampant with police corruption. Jeffrey DeMunn plays Det. Hal Morrison, who heads up the LAPD’s new mob squad, with Jeremy Strong as Det. Mike Hendry, Morrison’s second in command. Neal McDonough is Capt. William Parker, Teague’s boss who is determined to weed out corruption and bring down Mickey Cohen. And Milo Ventimiglia plays Ned Stax, who fought alongside Teague during World War II but who now works as a lawyer with connections to the mob. The project also co-stars Ron Rifkin plays Los Angeles Mayor Fletcher Bowron, who makes it his mission to clean up corruption in city government; Pihla Viitala  as Anya, the head bartender at Bunny’s on Central Avenue, the West Coast center of the African-American jazz scene; and Alexa Davalos as Jasmine, a beautiful woman whose past has come back to haunt her.

I am super stoked to see this series. I am a fan of Darabont's work, and can’t wait to see what he does with this. Is this a series that you could get behind?

How Steven Spielberg Played A Role In The True Story Behind ARGO

$

I am one of the few people that I know that has not seen the film Argo yet. I totally understand your disappointment in me. The worst part is that I don’t have a good excuse for this. For those of you who have seen the film, here is a cool little story from Blastr that you can add to the crazy situation.

Argo tells the true story of how a CIA agent named Tony Mendez (played by director Ben Affleck) staged an operation to rescue six Americans who had escaped and were hiding at the Canadian embassy in Tehran during the 1979 hostage crisis in which the Iranians held 52 other Americans in captivity.

Mendez came up with the cover story of pretending to be a Canadian producer looking to shoot a science fiction film on locations in Iran, with the idea being that the six Americans would leave with him, posing as his production crew.

To make the cover work so that the Iranians could not poke any holes in it, Mendez enlisted actual Hollywood producers and filmmakers—including Oscar-winning Planet of the Apes makeup man John Chambers—to set up offices for their fictional production company, take out ads announcing the beginning of production and even hold a table read of the script for the fake movie, which was called Argo

Well, the ruse worked so well that it even fooled other filmmakers and screenwriters. Mendez says in his notes on the mission that by the time the offices of the production company, called Studio Six, were closed, some 26 scripts came through the door—including one sent by Steven Spielberg

Mendez doesn't say what the script was called, but The Playlist theorizes that it could well have been E.T.: The Extraterrestrial (or perhaps the original script that E.T. evolved out of, Night Skies?). The hostage crisis and rescue mission took place roughly when Spielberg was filming Raiders of the Lost Ark, and he might have been shopping his new alien visitation movie around at the time.

I think that it is hilarious that they did the cover-up so well that everyone one was fooled by it. I would love to know who all contacted the fake company. I think I am going to enjoy this movie a little bit more now when I go see it.

Until next time….

Great Trailer for LEGO BATMAN: THE MOVIE - DC SUPERHEROES UNITE

Here's the trailer for a new movie adaptation of the LEGO Batman video game franchise. The movie is called LEGO Batman: The Movie - DC Superheroes Unite, and it was unveiled at this year's New York Comic Con. I've never been into the LEGO superhero video games, but this movie looks really funny. I loved what I saw in this trailer, and if the movie can carry that kind of humorous entertainment throughout the whole thing, that would be awesome.

The movie is set to be released in the spring of 2013. Hope you enjoy the trailer! Do you enjoy playing the LEGO video games? And do you think this movie looks like it's going to be worth checking out?!

TRUE SKIN Sci-Fi Short Picked Up By Warner Bros.

Well, it worked. Director and special effects master Stephan Zlotescu made a great little sci-fi short film called True Skin not too long ago in hopes to get a feature film deal out of it to launch his filmmaking career, and he got it! Warner Bros. acquired the project less than a week after the short popped up online.

The studio has brought on Harry Potter producer David Heyman to produce the project. As for Zlotescu, he will get to direct the feature film, and his partner Chris Sewall will be a co-producer.

The short is set in the not-too-distant future where everyone is augmenting their bodies. The story’s hero can't afford to augment in the U.S., so he heads to the black market of Bangkok where he gets a hold of a mysterious chip that he discovers is slowly turning him robotic -- and is a hot commodity wanted by shadowy forces.

The feature will incorporate that aspect as it thrusts the hero in a race against time to elude his pursuers and save what's left of his humanity.

This has the potential to be a pretty awesome movie, and I'm looking forward to seeing how it turns out. It's crazy cool to see these short films getting picked up by studios. It just goes to show, if you make something that looks good, there's a real chance that it could launch a filmmaking career for you if that's what you want to do. For those of you who haven't watched the short yet, you can watch it below! Do you think it will make for a good movie?
