Ti West to Direct Eli Roth's THE SACRAMENT

0
0

Ti West, the director of horror films such as House of the Devil, The Innkeepers, and one of the segments of the new horror thriller V/H/S, will next be taking on a new horror film called The Sacrament

There aren't really any details on this new movie, other than the fact that it's a horror thriller that's being produced by Eli Roth. According to Roth, "We want to make this Ti's first mainstream movie, without sacrificing the quality and unflinching horror of the subject matter." The movie will start shooting later this month.

I'm a fan of West's work, the guy does a great job of building up characters and suspense in his horror films. They are slow burning films that lead up to big terrifying pay-off in the end.

I have no idea what The Sacrament is about, but I can't wait to see what West ends up doing with it.

ACT OF VALOR Navy SEAL Movie to get TV Series Adaptation

0
0

Act of Valor was a pretty awesome movie, and I'm excited to hear that Relativity Media and the Bandito Brothers are looking to team up to make a TV show based around it! It's about freakin' time someone developed a Navy SEAL TV series! If they are able to bring the authenticity, realism and badassery that the movie had, then this could end up being an amazing show! The series will tell the true stories of missions carried out by the SEALs.

For those of you who haven't seen the movie yet, you might want to check it out. The acting might not be the best, but that's because they used real Navy SEALs. It's definitely entertaining though. There's no word on if they'll use SEAL team members for the series or not. The plan is to shop the series around to broadcast and cable networks. The press release also mentions at the end that RelativityREAL is also looking to possibly adapt Immortals and Haywire for TV as well.

What do you think about Act of Valor getting the TV series treatment?

Here's the full Press Release with more details:

Relativity, RelativityREAL and the Bandito Brothers will bring their No.1 box office film Act of Valor to the small screen, it was announced today by Relativity’s President, Tucker Tooley, RelativityREAL’s CEO, Tom Forman, and the Bandito Brothers. The theatrical release over-performed at the box office and in-home entertainment markets, including VOD and is soon to be broadcast on the FX Network.

The companies will work together to develop and shop an original and exclusive project based on the hit film, taking it to broadcast and cable networks shortly.

The film was an unprecedented blend of real-life heroism and original filmmaking, starring a group of active-duty U.S. Navy SEALs, alongside actors Roselyn Sanchez, Alex Veadov, Jason Cottle and Nester Serrano, in a film like no other in Hollywood's history. A fictionalized account of a real life Navy SEAL operation, Act of Valor featured a riveting story, taking audiences on an adrenaline-fueled, edge-of-their-seat journey. When a mission to recover a kidnapped CIA operative unexpectedly results in the discovery of an imminent, terrifying global threat, an elite team of highly trained Navy SEALs must immediately embark on a heart-stopping secret operation, the outcome of which will determine the fate of us all.

Act of Valor's success continued with "Act of Valor: The Album," the soundtrack released by Relativity Music Group which peaked at No. 7 on the Top 100 albums chart and No. 1 on the country album chart. The soundtrack features new music from some of today’s top recording artists including: Keith Urban, LadyAntebellum, Sugarland, Trace Adkins, Wynonna Judd and Montgomery Gentry.

“I was blown away by the realism and authenticity of 'Act of Valor.' We’re thrilled to work with the Bandito Brothers to make something more visceral than any other show on television,” Forman said.

"We're excited to be reuniting with Relativity again in order to develop this series and tell stories about real acts of valor in a unique and engaging way,” said Bandito Brothers.

Act of Valor will mark the second project that RelativityREAL has leveraged from feature film to television, following "Catfish: The TV Show" premiering on MTV in November. It is currently exploring television options for film properties ImmortalsHaywire and Movie 43.

Kansas City Man Wants to Rename His Town SMALLVILLE

0
0

A comic book artist named Christopher Wietrick from Hutchinson, Kansas is trying to legally have his town renamed after the town that Superman grew up in, Smallville. This town doesn't actually exist in the real world, but we'd all like to think and believe that there's a little Smallville in every town that we grew up in. Wietrick is taking it to a new level though, he's started a campaign to make it happen and lists several reasons why it should be his town that gets the Smallville stamp of approval.

You can watch a video right here in which Wietrick pleads his case. He's also listed a few reason on the official Facebook page that he set up for it. He makes an argument that it's the perfect location, as it’s only about an hour from a major metropolis and more, and there are “Clark” and “Kent” roads in the town. Weitrick is also working on a comic book that will also show why the town should be renamed Smallville. All of the proceeds to that will go to the Boys and Girls Club of Hutchinson.

I sure hope this guy succeeds, that would be pretty cool. Here's a few more similarities listed.

It only makes sense!! This is in the Underground Salt Museum. Coincidence....I think not.

  • Smallville, being a relatively small town, receives most of it's TV and radio broadcasts from a larger, nearby city. It is revealed, however, that Smallville also has at least one of their own radio stations. (Superboy #195 - June 1973)
  • Hutchinson High School's mascot is a bird. Need I say more? Smallville Crows!! CAW! CAW!

If you've been to Hutchinson, you've seen the amazing mural at Avenue A Park. My question is...what are they looking for up in the sky?

A bird....a plane?? Superman??

  • Smallville's downtown is frequently shown to be centered around a park and a gazebo, on Center Street (Smallville's Main Street).

Does Hutchinson sit on top of a massive supply of Kryptonite?
We do have a tremendous supply of a white, crystalline mineral that provides life to any planet. We have an underground museum for it. We already know that Superman left his costume down there. Explain this!!! I think Clark has been down there making trades!!!

  • The Smallville Crows won the State Championship for football, in 2004. 2004? Isn't that the year that the Hawks started winning state titles? :)

We've covered population and shown that Hutchinson is a VERY close match. What about location? In the graphic novel, The Kents, Smallville is located on the Arkansas River.

There are 5 "major" towns that this river runs through in Kansas. Here they are listed, with the latest population numbers. Remember, Smallville has 45,000!!

Garden City - 26,658
Dodge City - 27,921
Great Bend - 16,092
Hutchinson - 42,080
Wichita - 384,445

Case closed. Nah...we have much more proof than that. Tomorrow, we'll tie these two facts to another.

Bruce Willis in Talks to Star in AMERICAN ASSASSIN

Bruce Willis is in negotiations to join a military thriller for CBS films called American Assassin. Willis has always played a badass military operative, and this time around he will be joining the CIA.

The story centers a character named Mitch Rapp, a former Syracuse grad student who joins the CIA after his girlfriend his killed by a terrorist attack. According to Variety, Willis will play a CIA operative who serves as a mentor to Rapp.

This seems like a solid film for Willis, he's played this part before and it seems like something he'll easily be able to breeze through. At the same time, you know he'll end up giving a great performance. Lorenzo di Bonaventura is producing the film, and Jeffrey Nachmanoff (Traitor) is set to direct it from a script by Mike Finch.

The movie is expected to go into production in the fall of 2013. The next movie we'll get to see Willis in is Rian Johnson's awesome looking sci-fi film Looper

The fan made saga continues with Star Wars Uncut taking on The Empire Strikes Back. Here's a new trailer announcing the official launch, featuring lots of footage taken from Star Wars Celebration VI in Orlando, where they screened A New Hope Uncut

The Star Wars Uncut project was started in 2009, and simply cuts the film into 15-second clips that fans can claim, and recreate in any medium they see fit. This project has been a labor of love for thousands, and the passion and creativity that has come out of this is astounding. I don't think there's been this much global unity among Star Wars fans since everyone realized how bad the prequels ended up. Together we can heal the pain, one 15 second clip at a time.

Check out the trailer and if there's any clips left, claim one over at StarWarsUncut.com.

DREDD 3D - Two New TV Spots Unleashed!

Bring on the Judgement! Lionsgate has released two new TV spots for Dredd 3D to help get you pumped up to see this movie. In case you're wondering why you haven't seen much more footage from this film, it's because the rest of it is so violent that they can't really show any more than what they already have without going into red-band territory. You have to remember, the blood and violence shown in this movie is borderline NC-17.

The movie is set to be released on September 21st, 2012, enjoy the new TV spots!

Here's the Synopsis:

The future America is an irradiated waste land. On its East Coast, running from Boston to Washington DC, lies Mega City One- a vast, violent metropolis where criminals rule the chaotic streets. The only force of order lies with the urban cops called “Judges” who possess the combined powers of judge, jury and instant executioner. Known and feared throughout the city, Dredd (Karl Urban) is the ultimate Judge, challenged with ridding the city of its latest scourge – a dangerous drug epidemic that has users of “Slo-Mo” experiencing reality at a fraction of its normal speed.

During a routine day on the job, Dredd is assigned to train and evaluate Cassandra Anderson (Olivia Thirlby), a rookie with powerful psychic abilities thanks to a genetic mutation. A heinous crime calls them to a neighborhood where fellow Judges rarely dare to venture- a 200 story vertical slum controlled by prostitute turned drug lord Ma-Ma (Lena Headey) and her ruthless clan. When they capture one of the clan’s inner circle, Ma-Ma overtakes the compound’s control center and wages a dirty, vicious war against the Judges that proves she will stop at nothing to protect her empire. With the body count climbing and no way out, Dredd and Anderson must confront the odds and engage in the relentless battle for their survival.

Tony Scott Video Tribute - You're So Cool

Here's a wonderful video tribute that celebrates the life and films of director Tony Scott, who tragically died about two weeks ago. The guy made some extremely cool and entertaining movies, and it's sad to think that we won't be seeing any new films from him. But the movies he has made will live on, and are there to entertain us whenever we want to watch them. The video is called You're So Cool - A Tribute to Tony Scott, and it was created by our friends at JoBlo, and here's a note from the creator,

For over 30 years Tony has blazed a path of incredible film-making which is why I on behalf of JoBlo.com wanted to create this special video dedication in his honor. We wish all the best to his friends and family and also to every fan around the world. You're so cool Tony, you're so cool.

Enjoy the video, and let us know what your favorite Tony Scott movie is!

Michael Keaton To Direct Family Drama BUTTERCUP

0
0

Nope, unfortunately this isn't a sequel to The Princess Bride. (Wait. Actually, that would probably be terrible. I'm glad that's not happening.) Variety reports that erstwhile Batman Michael Keaton is stepping behind the camera to direct Buttercup, a project once lined up for Away From Her director Sarah Polley.

Alice O'Neil wrote the screenplay, and Niki Caro had slipped into the director's chair before she had to bail and Keaton eventually took over. The story "follows an adult woman who is forced to assume responsibility for her elderly father after he is arrested for drunk driving again. In doing so, she learns to not only accept his faults, but finally trust the other men in her life."

Jennifer Aniston and Alan Arkin were once attached to appear, but now neither one is involved. (Man, what's with people dropping out or moving on from this movie?) The movie is casting now, but with a career in Hollywood as long as Keaton's, I'd imagine he's made a few friends and can call in some favors.

It'll definitely be a change of pace for the actor, who has recently booked roles in RoboCop, along with a spot in Superbad helmer Greg Mottola's HBO movie with John Hamm and Larry David. Keaton directed one other film before, a straight-to-DVD effort in which he starred called The Merry Gentleman.

Interested to see what the former Dark Knight can do behind the camera?

New Trailer for THE TWILIGHT SAGA: BREAKING DAWN Part 2

0

During the MTV Music Video Awards tonight a new 90-second trailer was released for The Twilight Saga: Breaking Dawn Part 2. Do people even watch the music video awards? Hell, do people even watch music videos anymore? It's kind of a dying art form. I don't even remember the last time I watched a music video for a band that I like. Anyway, I'm getting way off track here.

So Edward and Bella ended up some kind of super vampire baby that Jacob falls in love with. It looks like the movie leads up to one final epic vampire battle that will end this ridiculous drama. There's a little bit of new footage and dialogue.

The movie was directed by Bill Condon (Dreamgirls), and stars Kristen Stewart, Robert Pattinson, Taylor Lautner, Peter Facinelli, Ashley Greene, Kellan Lutz, Jackson Rathbone, Elizabeth Reaser, Nikki Reed, Billy Burke, Rami Malek, and Maggie Grace. The movie is set to be released on November 16th, 2012.

I don't find this movie interesting at all, but maybe some of you do. If so, what do you find entertaining about it?

Renée Zellweger to Direct and Star in 4 1/2 MINUTES

0
0

Renée Zellweger's career seems to have taken a turn for the worst. The last mainstream movie she made was a terrible horror film called Case 39. She hasn't really done anything memorabel since Ron Hoawrd's 2005 film Cinderella Man

She's now atached to direct and star alongside Johnny Knoxville in a comedy called 4 1/2 Minutes. This will be the first movie directed by Zellweger, and the story is set in "New York City’s stand-up milieu with Knoxville playing a commitment-phobic comic whose life is falling apart when he takes a job looking after single-mom Zellweger’s genius son." The story is based on the comedy of real-life stand-up Dov Davidoff, and the script for the film was written by Warrior‘s Anthony Tambakis

Not sure if this will be a comeback for Zellwger, but I think it's a great role for Knoxville to take on! What are your thoughts on this project, and what do you think of Zellweger as an actress? Remember Empire Records? I never thought back then that her career would take a dive the way it did.

Will Doctor Strange be in THOR: THE DARK WORLD?

0
0

Another Marvel movie rumor has been unleashed on the internet. It's interesting to see how these things start, especially when there are no real sources to the information, but it doesn't mean they aren't true, and this is one of those rumors I'd love to be true!

The latest rumor originated at The Playlist who claims that Doctor Stephen Strange will play a role in Alan Taylor's Thor: The Dark World. It's not the most far out rumor, but one I would take with a grain of salt until some more proof comes to light. I will say, out of all the rumors though, this is by far my favorite because I freakin' love Dr. Strange and would love to see him finally introduced in the Marvel movie universe!

So how would the character fit into the story? He would be working alongside Natalie Portman’s character Jane Foster much like she did with Stellan Skarsgård’s Dr. Erik Selvig in Thor. In the comics Strange in a badass neurosurgeon, but according to the rumor in this film he will play a scientist who's very interested in Foster's knowledge about Asgard and Thor. They also make a point of saying this isn't just a cameo appearance, but that he will play a big part in all three acts of the movie.

I would love for this rumor to be true! Either way, we all know a Dr. Strange movie is going to eventually to happen. It will be interesting to see who they end up casting in the role. According to the site, the studio originally wanted Joel Edgarton (The Warrior) in the role, but that doesn't look like it's going to happen because of how busy he is. Another casting rumor that is being talked about is that Viggo Mortensen (LOTR) was in negotiations at one point to have a role in Marvel's Phase Two plan. There's a chance that the role he was in the running for was Dr. Strange.

Again this is all just fun rumor and speculation for now. We know for a fact that Marvel plans on bringing Dr. Strange to life on the big screen, that's going to happen. It's just a matter of how and when that will happen.

What do you think about this this latest Dr. Strange Rumor?

Seth Green Reveals More Details on STAR WARS: DETOURS

0
0

Over the last month we've seen the first trailer and a bunch of clips from Seth Green and Matthew Senreich's new Star Wars animated sitcom, Star Wars: Detours. I wasn't sure about it at first, but the more I've seen from it the more it's grown on me, and I'm excited to see where it goes. It looks like it's going to be a lot of fun. How can it not be!? It's from the guys that brought us the Robot Chicken awesomeness!

From what we've seen we get a sense of what the point of the series is and where it's going. It's a little unclear who the audience is for this... kids? Adults? This question is answered in a recent interview with IGN in which Senreich said, "George said it best: it’s a little young for the older people and a little old for the younger people." Green added,

It’s so undefined for the audience right now. We know exactly what the show is, but how people will interpret it is entirely up to them. When people first saw The Simpsons, they didn’t have anything to measure it against. Star Wars is already Star Wars. No matter how you interpret it, even if it’s coming from the guy who made it up, somebody’s going to have a problem with it. And it’s all right. We’re making the show as awesome as we can, and we love Star Wars.

Another thing we haven't been exposed to in the series is what's going on with Luke Skywalker? Well, they discuss it in the interview, and I think you'll find it very amusing. Here's what they say is going on with Luke...

Green: Oh yeah, but Luke is a teenager that lives in the desert with his f**king uncle. [Laughs] He’s not the coolest kid on the block.

Senreich: Yeah, we talked about it on our Saturday panel. He’s the guy who Obi-Wan is constantly trying to go see and teach that he has the universe to help save, and every time he tries to go there… Well, maybe that wasn’t the first time Obi-Wan had attempted to get to Luke.

Green: That’s our thought, is that Obi-Wan never knew what the correct timing was to approach that sort of prophecy in the desert. So each time, he attempts it and it goes horribly awry. He’s just like [waving hand as if using the Force], “None of this ever happened.” And Luke starts overtime developing real gaps in his memory, and he wakes up in places and doesn’t understand why his clothes are askew. “What happened here?”

That's a great concept to play with, and I can see the hilarious comedy in it. I think more than anything Star Wars fans want this series to be Badass and Cool. When asked what they would say to those Star Wars fans, Senreich said, "We want Star Wars to be badass and cool, too!" Green goes on to say that,

Yeah, we love badass and cool Star Wars, but there are different ways to enjoy the stuff you love. If everything looks the same, then you won’t notice the variety. Star Wars is an international and global brand that is expressed in millions of forms, literally. People laughed along with us at Robot Chicken, which was a parody of Star Wars. I would find it strange for them to not accept a sincere comedy that comes from the creator of Star Wars.

Why deny the mythology? That’s all it really is. We’re determining what legends and myths we want to perpetuate onto our kids and next generations. How many times has Shakespeare been interpreted and reinterpreted? We get so precious about our intellectual property because it’s experience-based. It’s something that you felt, and you don’t feel that someone else could have the exact same experience unless they experienced it how you did. That’s just not accurate.

As of right now we don't know when or where the first episode of Star Wars: Detours will air, but I'm looking forward to it! What do you think about what Green and Senreich had to say in the interview?

First Look at VENTURE BROS. Halloween Special!

0
0

It's been a long time since we've seen any new Venture Bros. episodes. I believe the last new episode was Operation P.R.O.M., and it was released back in 2010. But don't worry! New season 5 is coming, and it starts with a Halloween special that will be released this October.

We've got our first look at the Halloween special episode, and it comes with an update from series creator Jackson Publick,

… we're just wrapping up pre-production on season 5 of The Venture Bros. We ship our last episode (which is actually the second half of what will be the premiere episode) to Korea this week. All other episodes have shipped, and all of the art staff (except for few stragglers in the Color department) have gone home. We're received take one rough cuts of the first two episodes from the overseas studio already and are expecting the third this week. Which means we're about to start post-production. The Halloween episode is obviously the first one we'll edit and deliver, since it has to make it's October airdate (the official date has yet to be determined). JG Thirlwell has already completed his genuinely spooky score (we drew some inspiration from the soundtrack to Klute when we first met about this episode a few months ago) and we're just waiting on some animation retakes from Korea before Doc works his magic on the titling and transitions and adds his special sauce to select sequences.

Doc's currently on a train back from Atlanta, but when he returns to the AstroBase, we'll no doubt start talking more earnestly about writing our planned long form special, to be produced some time between seasons 5 and 6. We've already had a lot of "big idea" discussions about season 6 as well, so I'm hoping we get to work on all of this stuff sooner rather than later and we don't make you people wait 2 years between seasons again.

Look over the photos released, and let us know if your excited about the series return!

OLDBOY Remake Finds Distribution and Official Synopsis Released

0
0

Spike Lee's Oldboy remake has been picked up by FilmDistrict for distribution. This is one of those movies that really doesn't need to be remade, at the same time I can't help but be curious to see what Lee has envisioned for it. It's got an incredible cast of actors that includes Josh Brolin who plays the main character that's kidnapped and imprisoned, Elizabeth Olsen plays the young woman he meets when he's released, and Sharlto Copley plays the crazy villain hell bent on revenge. Samuel L. Jackson and Nate Parker also will appear in the film.

A new synopsis for the film was also released revealing a couple little changes to the story, check it out!

OLDBOY follows the story of an advertising executive (Josh Brolin) who is kidnapped and held hostage for 20 years in solitary confinement without any indication of his captor’s motive.  When he is inexplicably released, he embarks on an obsessive mission to discover who orchestrated his bizarre and torturous punishment only to find he is still trapped in a web of conspiracy and torment. His quest for revenge leads him into an ill-fated relationship with a young social worker (Elizabeth Olsen) and ultimately to an illusive man (Sharlto Copley) who allegedly holds the key to his salvation.

The changes aren't really that big, in Lee's version the Brolin's character is held for 20 years instead of just 15, and Olsen’s character is a social worker instead of a chef. There will be a few other changes to the story that have yet to be fully revealed, but it was revealed in previous interviews that the ending the film will be much darker than the original's. Producer Roy Lee said,

Protosevich has added new elements that will throw off the audience who have seen the original movie because there are new characters and new situations that present themselves in a way that change the story but eventually go in the same direction. The ending will be something audiences--especially fans of the original movie--will be very happy with. Some may consider it a bit darker.

I honestly don't know how it can get any darker, so it will be interesting to see what new twists and turns they've created. Do you have any other thoughts to share on this new vision of Oldboy? Are you interested in seeing it?

Rosario Dawson is Back for SIN CITY 2

0
0

Robert Rodriguez is currently in production on Sin City: A Dame to Kill For, several of the original movie cast members are coming back to reprise their roles. Now Rosario Dawson has confirmed that she will also be coming back to play Gail.

When talking to E! Online, she said "It's in! It's happening! Can't tell you nothing." And she doesn't say anything more. But in a previous interview she talks about where she'd like to see her character go,

I think Gail is pretty much Gail. What you see is what you get. I don't think she's going to be poppin' out any babies and singing any songs or anything like that. What's actually really fun about it is that we get to investigate it a little bit more into the storyline that was actually in "Sin City 2" - that middle chapter which is where Gail mostly was. Investigate a little more as to who is this man and what are they talking about when he's got a different face.

Sin City: A Dame to Kill For is based on the comic created by Frank Miller who is also co-directing the film, from a screenplay by Miller and Academy Award winner William Monahan (The Departed).

The plot for the Sin City 2 comes from the stories A Dame To Kill For, Just Another Saturday Night, and a new one Frank Miller wrote called The Long, Bad Night, which apparently centers on Jessica Alba's character Nancy Callahan who will be the connection between the two films.

The movie is set to be released on October 4th, 2013!

RAIDERS OF THE LOST ARK - Deleted Sword Fight Scene!

0
0

I know you all remember the scene in Raiders of the Lost Ark when Indiana Jones guns down that big Arab swordsman in the middle of an Egyptian market.

The scene was originally going to be an awesome fight sequence between a whip and sword. The swordsman trained for months, and they rehearsed the sequence several times on set. When the day came to actually shoot it Harrison Ford wasn't feeling very well, because he ate some bad food the night before. Ford ended up suggesting he just shoot the swordsman instead, and Steven Spielberg ran with it. In the end, it turned out being a great scene that many of us found funny.

The guy they hired to play the swordsman was a little upset, and on the first take he tried extending his screentime by stumbling around to drag out his death scene. On the second take, Ford fired the gun before Spielberg even said action!  The swordsman was so stunned that he just fell back, and that's the take they ended up using in the film.

Thanks to the wonderful internet, and the upcoming released of Indiana Jones: The Complete Adventures Blu-Ray set, we have the rehearsal footage that was shot, showing us what this whip vs. sword fight scene could have been. Watch it and let us know which one you prefer! Thanks to EW for the footage!

New Trailer for WUTHERING HEIGHTS

0
0

A new trailer for Fish Tank director Andrea Arnold's big screen adaptation of the classic 1847 Emily Brontë novel Wuthering Heights has been released. The film stars Kaya Scodelario and James Howson as the characters Cathy and Heathcliff. It looks like a visually stunning film and a unique adaptation of the story about love and revenge.

Here's the Synopsis:

Andrea Arnold’s WUTHERING HEIGHTS is an excitingly fresh and distinct take on the classic novel by Emily Brontë.

An epic love story that spans childhood well into the young adult years, the film follows Heathcliff, a boy taken in by a benevolent Yorkshire farmer, Earnshaw. Living in Earnshaw’s home, Heathcliff develops a passionate relationship with the farmer’s teenage daughter, Catherine, inspiring the envy and mistrust of his son, Hindley. When Earnshaw passes away, the now-grown characters must finally confront the intense feelings and rivalries that have built up throughout their years together.

Arnold’s film is a beautiful and evocative visual masterpiece that brings out the powerful emotions at the heart of Brontë’s classic novel, resulting in a viscerally affecting love story. It is a sweepingly old-fashioned tale of family, class, and romance told in a bracingly modern way by one of contemporary cinema’s most gifted and unique filmmakers.

The movie is set to be released on October 5th. Check out the trailer and let us know if you think it looks like a solid adaptation of the novel.

Nicolas Cage to Star in David Gordon Green's JOE

Nicolas Cage is set to star in David Gordon Green's new film Joe, which is based on a novel written by Larry Brown. The film will tell the story of an "ex-con who becomes the unlikeliest of role models to 15-year-old Gary Jones, the oldest child of a homeless family ruled by a drunk, worthless father. Together they try to find a path to redemption and the hope for a better life in the rugged, dirty world of small town Mississippi."

Gordon Green had this to say in a statement,

When Larry Brown wrote the novel Joe, he instantly created an iconic character of contemporary Southern literature. It is with great excitement that I've been able to work with Nicolas Cage to design an absolute and unexpected performance piece that is woven from the darkness, beauty, humor and environment of this material.

Cage has made some really good films in his career, he has it in him to give great performances. Unfortunately, most of the time he ends up picking terrible roles. His last good role was Big Daddy in Kick-Ass. This film could be another good movie for him, but only time will tell. I know there's not a lot of love out there for Cage these days, but he has made some good movies, hopefully this will be one of them, especially under the direction of Gordon Green who has also made Pineapple Express and Your Highness.

What are your thoughts on Cage's involvement with this project?

Here's a description from the book:

Nearing fifty, Joe Ransom won't slow down, not in his pickup, not with a gun-and certainly not with women. But all the fast living in Mississippi won't fill the hunger Joe can't name. At fifteen, Gary Jones is already slipping through the cracks. Part of a hopeless, homeless wandering family, he's desperate for a way out. He finds it in Joe. Together they follow a twisting map to redemption-or ruin An understated, powerful, beautiful evocation of a place, a time, a people.

MAD MEN Cast Covers "Never Gonna Give You Up"

0
0

Here's another one of those fun musical video edits featuring the cast of Mad Men covering Rick Astley's 1987 hit song "Never Gonna Give You Up". At least it's not that "Call me Maybe" song we've featured in the past! I can only imagine how much time is spent editing something like this together. You've gotta have some crazy patience. Are there any other shows, movies and songs you'd like to see edited together?
