DREDD 3D Currently is At 100% On Rotten Tomatoes

$

Yes, it's still 2 weeks out. But for those of you wanting to see this movie, this is incredibly good news. With reviews coming most notably from Empire and Variety the movie currently stands at 27 "fresh" reviews, we can only wait and see if the rating will stand in the coming weeks. A possible reason for this is that people may not be watching this movie as closely as other releases so not as many critics are flocking to find opportunities to see it, but I hope it's because it's just that good. For the record Joey and Ben were big fans of the entire film! Here's what other critics had to say.

Grim, gritty and ultra-violent, Dredd reinstates the somber brutality missing from the U.K. comicbook icon's previous screen outing, the disappointing 1995 Sylvester Stallone starrer Judge Dredd. -Geoff Berkshire, Variety

A solid, occasionally excellent take on the character, with Urban's chin particularly impressive. -Chris Hewitt, Empire Magazine
The story is unoriginal but there's enough action and visual inventiveness to keep fans of the comic book happy. -Henry Fitzherbert, Daily Express

So at least we know it's better than the original...but I highly doubt it can match the awesomeness of this scene.

Here's a picture of James Franco you don't want to miss! This latest image is going viral on the web as Spring Breakers looks to become the first movie that won't have you questioning why you're watching a bunch of Disney starlets in bikinis...wait what? I have to admit this movie hasn't been on my short list of films to watch but I feel the more I see about it, the more I want to check it out! It certainly helps that Franco is involved looking like a broke down, or better version of hip hopper Riff Raff (see below to compare). Think you will be checking out this film when it comes to your area? Check out all we've posted so far on the film and sound off.

Seth Green showed up on Conan recently and shared this hilarious clip from Robot Chicken's DC Comics Special featuring Aquaman and the pathetic life that he leads. The character gets picked on so much by his super friends that he ends up joining the Legion of Doom. This looks like it's going to be an awesome special.

The voice cast for the special includes Robot co-creator Seth Green as Batman, Robin, and Aquaman; Paul Reubens as The Riddler; Neil Patrick Harris as Two-Face; Alfred Molina as Lex Luthor; Nathan Fillion as the Green Lantern; Megan Fox as Lois Lane; and Breckin Meyer as Superman.

Green had this to say about the special in a previous statement:

Having been raised on DC Comics and the Super Friends vs. Legion of Doom, it’s exciting to tell a whole Robot Chicken story within this awesome universe.

The series is set to air on September 9th on Adult Swim at midnight, and I'm looking forward to it! Enjoy the the latest clip! What's one of you favorite Robot Chicken sketches?

Warner Bros. has released this new poster for Andy and Lana Wachowski and Tom Tykwer's insanely cool looking sci-fi film Cloud Atlas. The movie stars Tom HanksHalle BerryHugo WeavingJim SturgessSusan SarandonHugh GrantBen WhishawKeith DavidJim BroadbentJames D'Arcy, and Doona Bae.

This movie is an adaptation of David Mitchell‘s novel, Cloud Atlas, which tells six thematically related stories, and are linked by the intersections of various characters throughout the stories that takes place over the course of a thousand years. One of the most interesting things about this is the actors play multiple characters in the film.

Here's the Synopsis:

CLOUD ATLAS explores how the actions and consequences of individual lives impact one another throughout the past, the present and the future. Action, mystery and romance weave dramatically through the story as one soul is shaped from a killer into a hero and a single act of kindness ripples across centuries to inspire a revolution in the distant future.

The movie is scheduled to be released on October 26th. I've included the latest trailer for you to check out below!

Vin Diesel will be THE LAST WITCH HUNTER

Vin Diesel is currently in talks with Lionsgate-Summit to join Breck Eisner's The Last Witch HunterWanted director Timur Bekmambetov was attached to direct the film when it was first announced back in 2010. But I think Eisner will be a solid choice for the project as well. He directed a remake of The Crazies, which actually turned out really good. As for Diesel taking on the lead role... why the hell not? I could see him wreaking havoc on witches!

The story follows the last of the witch hunters, described as people that keep the population of witches and warlocks in check. Those witches and warlocks are about to repopulate in a major way unless Vin Diesel can can stop them. So if he's not cast in the role, we're all screwed. IESB has some more spoilerish details on the movie, and it sounds like it could be really awesome. Check out an excerpt from a description of the film below!

This all started long before our times, but for now we are starting in Manhattan, on a bus. An old woman wearing tattered clothing enters a bus and steals one strand of hair from the bus driver which she knots. The rest of the passengers can't take their eyes off her. Suddenly the driver grabs at his chest before falling forward. The bus veers into traffic on the opposite side of the street and explodes into a ball of fire. The only survivor the mysterious woman, now with eyes of black.

They have been walking among us since the beginning. They call themselves Haxen and are not the biggest fans of daylight. The witches abilities have brought a fear into the hearts of many Examples of this fear of witches can be found in historical events such as The Crusades and The Salem Witch Trials. This is why the Haxen have hid for many centuries and have broken up into what we know as covens. Each nationality has their own coven of witches, Hispanic "brujas" in the Bronx, and witches of African heritage in Harlem. The only one who has the ability to stop them is the immortal Nightshade.

To read the full movie description make sure to head on over to IESB.

Does this sound like a movie you'd be interested in checking out?! Do you think Diesel is the right guy for the role?

Doug Liman to Direct THE TOURIST

Swingers director Doug Liman has lined up a new project for him to take on called The Tourist, which is one of several books in a series written by Olen Steinhauer. Sony Pictures just acquired the rights to these books, which includes The Tourist, Nearest Exit and An American Spy.

The books center on a character named Milo Weaver, "a burned-out spy for a clandestine U.S. intelligence agency that battles global organized crime, terrorists and the like. Just when he has finally found some happiness, an investigation into the death of a hired killer he’d been hunting threatens to ruin everything."

Sounds like a great project for Liman, who is currently shooting Warner Bros. All You Need Is Kill with Tom Cruise. Liman has also directed films such as GoJumper, The Bourne Identity and Mr. and Mrs. Smith

I've never read any of these books, but they sound like it could be a solid movie. Have you read any of these books, and do you think Liman is a good choice to direct it? What's your favorite movie that Liman has made?

Here's the description of the The Tourist:

Milo Weaver used to be a “tourist” for the CIA—an undercover agent with no home, no identity—but he’s since retired from the field to become a middle-level manager at the CIA’s New York headquarters. He’s acquired a wife, a daughter, and a brownstone in Brooklyn, and he’s tried to leave his old life of secrets and lies behind. However, when the arrest of a long-sought-after assassin sets off an investigation into one of Milo’s oldest colleagues and exposes new layers of intrigue in his old cases, he has no choice but to go back undercover and find out who’s holding the strings once and for all.

In The Tourist, Olen Steinhauer---twice nominated for an Edgar Award---tackles an intricate story of betrayal and manipulation, loyalty and risk in an utterly compelling novel that is both thoroughly modern and yet also reminiscent of the espionage genre’s luminaries: Len Deighton, Graham Greene, and John LeCarré.

Al Pacino Cast as Joe Paterno in Movie about Penn State Scandal

$

Al Pacino has been appropriately cast as Joe Paterno in a movie that will be based on the devastating Penn State gridiron scandal. We all knew this was going to find its way to the big screen, and Pacino is the perfect actor to take on the role of the Penn State football coach. The movie will be built around writer Joe Posnanski’s biography Paterno

According to Deadline, the film will tell the true story of a man who becomes "the winningest coach in college football history and builds a powerhouse football program that turns him into a campus deity. When his former defensive coordinator Jerry Sandusky is revealed to be a pedophile and it comes out Paterno was told and helped hide the scandal, the coach was summarily fired. He died shortly after of cancer — and many feel of a broken heart — and the school had little choice but to raze a fabled statue of Paterno just as the NCAA dropped the hammer with sanctions against the school that included removal of Paterno’s wins going back to the cover-up." Sandusky was later found guilty on 45 counts of sexual abuse against young boys and is expected to spend the rest of his life in prison.

This was such a sad event, and it's crazy how this whole thing unfolded, but it should make for some good movie drama. What do you all think about Pacino playing Paterno? It's not the first time he's taken on a role like this, he played an NFL coach in Oliver Stone's Any Given Sunday. Is this a movie you'd like to see get made?

Christian Bale Fulfills Wish of a Young Batman Fan with Cancer

$

Christian Bale is one hell of an incredible individual. He recently fulfilled the wish of five-year-old, Jayden Barber, who was diagnosed with terminal bone cancer and wanted to meet Batman. Bale stepped up to the plate and made his wish come true! This is a pretty cool story....

In 2010, Jayden and his parents were informed that he had cancer in his right arm from his elbow to his shoulder. He began chemotherapy treatment which sent the cancer into remission, but during that time Jayden had developed another form of cancer.

This past July doctors told Jayden's parents that there was nothing more that they could do for him after he put up a brave fight. They estimated that Jayden only had five to six good weeks left before he would be bedridden for his final six months.

The family wanted to make Jayden's final weeks as amazing as possible, so they started fulfilling Jayden's wishlist. They got him a puppy and took a family vacation to the beach. Then there was the whole meeting Batman thing, this is where the town of Youngstown, Ohio jumped in to help make this wish happen....

The city of Youngstown, Ohio, Jayden's home, has been called many things but until you live here, you will never understand the will and determination of this community. Together, more than 30,000 people joined the Facebook movement "Lighting the Bat Signal for Jayden". The effort was to get Christian Bale, the real Batman, to come and meet Jayden. It was a tall order, but not one tall enough for Youngstown to back down from. Those labeled "Jayden's Warriors" spread the word to anyone within an earshot and on August 23rd, Jayden got to meet "Batman".

At a local area middle school football field, Jayden was escorted by his parents while thousands of "Warriors" cheered him on. He got to light the Bat Signal and even got to ride in the Bat Mobile. This was the night of Jayden's life. Batman, "real" or not and accompanied by many other super heroes, made Jayden's wish come true.

Bale got the message, but wasn't able to show up at that event. Instead he flew Jayden and his family out to Los Angeles California on Wednesday and took them to lunch at Disney's Club 33!

The best part about this news... last week the family learned that Jayden's test results showed that his cancer was in remission again. Of course the family is cautiously optimistic about this as Jayden's cancer has gone into remission several times before. But it's still good to know that he's ok right now.

Our thoughts and prayers go out to Jayden and his family. I also just want to thank Christian Bale for being an amazing individual.

New Theatrical Trailer for BREAKING DAWN Part 2

"I thought we would be safe forever, but forever isn't as long as I'd hoped."

So how much longer do you need forever to be Bella? Two new Twilight trailers in one day... well that's ridiculous! But from what I hear this is the final trailer that we'll see for The Twilight Saga: Breaking Dawn Part 2. It's safe to say that after this movie is released, we wont be seeing anymore. Especially now that Kristen Stewart and Robert Pattinson had a very bad break-up.

This last trailer for the film features some more new footage of vampires doing stuff with werewolves, getting pissed off at each other, fighting over a little half vampire half human girl, and a lot of hilariously bad dialogue.

The movie was directed by Bill Condon, and hits theaters on November 16th. I wonder how early fans are going to start lining up for this movie.

THE MASTER - New NSFW Film Clip

$

A new clip has been released for Paul Thomas Anderson's great looking film The Master, and it's definitely Not Safe For Work. The clip, which is much more vulgar than anything else we've seen from the movie, was released to promote a benefit screening of the film at The Alamo Drafthouse Ritz location in downtown Austin, TX.

The scene you're about to watch features Joaquin Phoenix‘s character, Freddie Quell, taking a Navy psych evaluation. He's basically telling a doctor what he sees in a series of inkblot cards, and he pretty much sees the same thing in every image he looks at. It tells us a lot about what's going on this character's mind all of the time.

The story is set in America in the years following World War II. A charismatic man returns home to America from World War II and forms a faith-based organization. He is now known as "the Master" and his belief system is catching on. As the group is gaining momentum and adding new converts, a young drifter arrives and becomes the Master’'s invaluable aid.

The film stars Joaquin Phoenix, Philip Symour Hoffman, Jesse Plemons, David Warshofsky, Amy Adams, and Rami Malek. The movie gets a limited release on September 14th, and will expand to other theaters on September 21st. Check out the clip, and hit us up with your thoughts on this movie! Are you looking forward to it?

Title for J.J. Abrams' STAR TREK Sequel Revealed!?

$

0

Looks like the title to J.J. Abrams' Star Trek sequel has been revealed! According to Comingsoon.net the title of the film will be Star Trek Into Darkness.

The tip off on the title comes from two domain names that were registered yesterday through Markmonitor, which is an anonymous domain registry service that has been used by Paramount Pictures in the past for recent URLs like their official G.I. Joe: Retaliation site. Those new Star Trek domain names include www.startrekintodarkness.com and www.startrekintodarknessmovie

There's no official confirmation of this title yet, but it looks like Abrams will be taking the Star Trek crew into the deep darkness of space. We've heard this next chapter in the franchise is going to much darker than the last film. Chris Pine recently said,

There's comedy, which I think J.J. does a great job of, but, like the first one, there's some serious issues being dealt with. And I'd say the threat is even greater in this one.

The force [the Enterprise crew] are met with is much more frightening. It's relentlessly action-packed and in terms of character development it goes places you'd never expect. The arc is huge for all the characters. It's a really big story—I can't hype it enough!

Also, in case you forgot, today is the 46th anniversary of Gene Roddenberry's legendary series! What do you think of the possible new title!?

BREAKING BAD Tribute Video: The Journey of Walter White

For those who haven't caught up with "Breaking Bad" yet, it should go without saying, but there are massive spoilers in this video.

In fact, it's almost nothing but spoilers, including many of the show's greatest moments. It's amazing to watch Bryan Cranston's performance as he slowly transitions from the timid Walter White of the first season to full-on Heisenberg by the midpoint of Season Five, and to say I'm looking forward to how the series will end would be a massive understatement. Vince Gilligan and his team of writers have some high expectations to live up to, but after watching a tribute video like this and seeing the amazing level of detail they've put into their work, I'm sure they have something fantastic planned for the big finish.

What is your favorite Walter White moment? Sound off in the comments below.

Michael Shannon Praises Henry Cavill's SUPERMAN Performance

I'm very excited about seeing Zack Snyder's Man of Steel, which is set to fly into theaters next summer. I especially can't wait to see how the films' star, Henry Cavill, portrays the legendary son of Krypton. According to Michael Shannon, who plays the villain Zod in the film, Cavill is going to be incredible. The actor recently did an interview with MTV in which he said,

I always felt like I was in a scene with Superman. I never looked at him and thought that's just somebody trying to be Superman — he felt like the real deal.

That's a pretty awesome compliment. Superman isn't an easy character to play, and no one will play it like Christopher Reeve. Brandon Routh tried, but didn't quite capture the charm. It looks like Cavill has made the part his own though, which is what needed to be done. He will be playing the part unlike anything we've seen before, and the fans are eagerly anticipating the release of more footage to see how he's portrays out favorite hero. Shannon continued,

I really admire Henry's work ethic. I really haven't seen anybody in this business work quite that hard. Obviously it's a tremendous responsibility, and an intimidating one, to wear that suit. But he had the confidence and the work ethic to accomplish it.

Man of Steal also stars Amy Adams, Russell Crowe, Laurence Fishburne, Kevin Costner and Ayelet Zorer, and is set to hit theatres on June 14th, 2013.

Do you think Cavill is the man that will give Superman life on the big screen again? I sure hope so.

15 New Photos from THE HOBBIT: A UNEXPECTED JOURNEY!

Warner Bros. has released ten new images from Peter Jackson's highly anticipated fantasy adventure The Hobbit: An Unexpected Journey! The images give us some great new shots of Bilbo, Gandalf and the Dwarves. I've loved everything I've seen from this movie so far. I'm so happy that Jackson came back on board to direct this new Middle Earth trilogy, it would have been such a different film in the hands of another director like Guillermo del Toro. I love del Toro's work, but lets face it... Jackson has brilliantly made this world his own. I trust that he knows what he's doing, and I can't wait to see the stories he's tied together to tell this trilogy.

The Hobbit: An Unexpected Journey, opens this holiday season, on December 14th, 2012The Hobbit: The Desolation of Smaug, will be released on December 13th, 2013, and The Hobbit: There and Back Again, will be released worldwide on July 18th, 2014.

Do you think any other director could have done a better job than Jackson in bringing Middle Earth to life on the big screen?

Synopsis:

The adventure follows the journey of title character Bilbo Baggins, who is swept into an epic quest to reclaim the lost Dwarf Kingdom of Erebor from the fearsome dragon Smaug. Approached out of the blue by the wizard Gandalf the Grey, Bilbo finds himself joining a company of thirteen dwarves led by the legendary warrior, Thorin Oakenshield. Their journey will take them into the Wild; through treacherous lands swarming with Goblins and Orcs, deadly Wargs and Giant Spiders, Shapeshifters and Sorcerers.

Although their goal lies to the East and the wastelands of the Lonely Mountain first they must escape the goblin tunnels, where Bilbo meets the creature that will change his life forever…Gollum.

Here, alone with Gollum, on the shores of an underground lake, the unassuming Bilbo Baggins not only discovers depths of guile and courage that surprise even him, he also gains possession of Gollum’s "precious" ring that holds unexpected and useful qualities … A simple, gold ring that is tied to the fate of all Middle-earth in ways Bilbo cannot begin to know.
