CURSE OF CHUCKY Officially Starts Shooting

The Child's Play horror franchise is getting a sixth installment. It's been announced that the Curse of Chucky has officially started shooting in Winnipeg, Manitoba, Canada. I've never been the biggest fan of Chucky, they haven't made for the best horror films, and I doubt I'll end up watching this one. For those of you who do like the franchise here's the synopsis:

Nica (Fiona Dourif) is grieving over the gruesome suicide of her mother when her domineering older sister Barb (Danielle Bisutti) arrives with her young family in tow to help settle their mother's affairs. As the sisters butt heads over Nica's plans for the future, Barb's young daughter comforts herself with a grinning, red-haired talking doll named Chucky (voiced again by Brad Dourif) that recently arrived mysteriously in the mail. But as a string of brutal murders begins to terrorize the household, Nica suspects the doll may hold the key to the bloodshed. What she doesn't know is that Chucky has a personal score to settle. He's determined to finish a job he started more than 20 years earlier, and this time he's going to see it through to the bloody and shocking end.

Does this sound like something you might enjoy watching?

Here's the Press release with more details:

The sixth installment of the "Child's Play" thriller franchise, Curse of Chucky, started principal photography in Winnipeg, Manitoba, Canada today. The franchise comes full circle as Toyland's most gruesome serial killer returns in a horrifying all-new movie from Universal 1440 Entertainment, a production entity of Universal Studios Home Entertainment.

"Since his introduction to audiences in 'Child's Play' almost a quarter-century ago, Chucky has haunted the nightmares of a generation of moviegoers," said Glenn Ross, General Manager and Executive Vice President, Universal 1440 Entertainment. "Returning to his roots in one of the most provocative horror franchises, this new sequel will shock longtime fans of the series and newcomers alike."

Curse of Chucky stars Fiona Dourif (The Master, "True Blood," "Deadwood"), A Martinez ("Longmire," "General Hospital"), Danielle Bisutti (Get Smart, "CSI: Miami") and Brennan Elliott (Flight 93Double Jeopardy). Brad Dourif ("The Lord of the Rings," Dune) once again returns to provide the voice of Chucky, the pint-sized doll possessed by the spirit of notorious serial killer Charles Lee Ray, who returns to settle some unfinished business.

The film is directed by Don Mancini, the "Child's Play" franchise creator who has written or co-written each of the previous movies and was the director of Seed of Chucky. Also an integral part of the "Child's Play" franchise from inception, David Kirschner (An American TailHocus PocusBride of Chucky) produces from a screenplay by Mancini. The film's top-flight production team includes special-effects wizard Tony Gardner (ZombielandSeed of Chucky), production designer Craig Sandells (Mother's Day) and costume designer Patricia J. Henderson (ATM).

Director Jeff Wadlow starts shooting Kick-Ass 2: Balls to the Wall this coming Friday, so there's a lot of prep work being done right now. Waldlow has taken to Twitter to give us a bunch of cool behind the scenes photos showing us some of the cast as well as some props. The image directly above features Christopher Mintz-Plasse meeting Mother Russia for the first time. We still don't know who is playing Mother Russia, but it sure looks like she can kick some ass!

With the image above, Wadlow tweeted the following comment - "We just got Hit Girl's bike, Guess what color we're gonna paint it?"

Moretz tweeted back - "I am totally keeping it."

Wadlow fired back - "You're gonna have to fight Mother Russia for it..."

These next photos give us a look at the film's costumes, sets and props, which also includes Mother Russia's crazy big blade.

David Fincher Movie Infographic

Here's fun little infographic that contains a bunch of useless information on director David Fincher and his films. Some of this info you might already know, some you might not. Fincher is one of my favorite directors, and since Alien 3, every film he ends up making turns out to be incredible.

Have you ever wondered how a mere mortal could create cinematic gems like Seven, Fight Club, and The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo? Do you know how many takes the opening-scene of The Social Network were shot before the director was satisfied? Most importantly, how exactly did they get Meat Loaf to look so fat?!

Is there any other Fincher trivia you'd like to add to this?

Trailer for A CHRISTMAS STORY 2 - Ugh...

I don't know who thought that it would be a good idea to make a sequel to the classic 1983 film A Christmas Story, but it looks terrible. If they wanted a sequel they could have at least made a good film! A Christmas Story 2 is being labeled an "Official Sequel". Back in 1994 another sequel was attempted called It Runs in the Family, which later released on DVD under the title My Summer Story. That was a crappy sequel as well.

Here's the Synopsis:

The original, traditional, one-hundred-percent, red-blooded, two-fisted, All-American Christmas continues five years later, with Ralphie (Braeden Lemasters), Randy (Valin Shinyei), Mom (Stacey Travis), and the Old Man (Daniel Stern). This time, Ralphie has his eyes fixed on a car. But trouble is sure to follow.

They just can't seem to recapture that magic that the original movie was filled with. It's like they're trying to force it, and that just won't work. The movie is set to be released on DVD and Blu-ray on October 30th. Watch the trailer and let us know how it makes you feel... if anything. And why does the look of Ralphie make me want to puke?

Paddy Considine Cast in Edgar Wright's THE WORLD'S END

Hot Fuzz co-star Paddy Considine is teaming back up with Simon Pegg, Nick Frost and Edgar Wright in their new sci-fi comedy The World's End. The actor has also been in films such as The Bourne Ultimatum and In America.

20 years after attempting an epic pub crawl, five childhood friends reunite when one of them becomes hellbent on trying the drinking marathon again.  They are convinced to stage an encore by mate Gary King, a 40-year old man trapped at the cigarette end of his teens, who drags his reluctant pals to their hometown and once again attempts to reach the fabled pub – The World’s End.  As they attempt to reconcile the past and present, they realize the real struggle is for the future, not just theirs but humankind’s.  Reaching The World’s End is the least of their worries. There's also been hints from the director and cast that an Alien invasion might be involved.

Pegg and Frost play two members of the group, Rosamund Pike plays Pegg’s love interest and Considine will play another of the friends who's described as “a former ladies man and musician who has grown up to be a divorced architect.”

The movie is set to be released in the spring of 2013, and I'm excited to see what kind of crazy story they're going to tell this time around!

HEAVY METAL TV Series - Promo Trailer and Photos

I had no idea that a TV series was being created around the popular magazine Heavy Metal. I think most of us have just been waiting around for David Fincher's movie to happen. Unfortunately, it doesn't look like that film is moving forward anytime soon.

This new TV series is called Metal Hurlant Chronicles, and is only set to air in France for now, but I imagine somewhere down the line that it will be released in the U.S. as well. The series has already filmed two seasons that feature 12 half hour long episodes. Some of the actors involved with the series include Rutger Hauer, Scott Adkins, Michael Jai White, Kelly Brook, James Marsters, Joe Flanigan, Michelle Ryan, and David Belle.

Here's a description of the series:

In the lineage of fantastic series such as Twilight Zone or The Outer Limits, Metal Hurlant Chronicles is the adaptation of the world renowned magazine of the same name. Discover the live versions of these exceptional comics by the writers of X MEN , BATMAN , SPIDERMAN , IRON MAN , GI JOE , STAR WARS , SUPERMAN, BLADE etc,... Fitted for the international market, each episode is 26 minutes long an is composed of one story involving Action, Heroic Fantasy, Science Fiction in english, directed by Guillaume LUBRANO.

Check out the promo trailer and photos below and let us know what you think! Hopefully we eventually get to see this series! It looks like it could be pretty cool.

X-MEN Redesigned as STAR WARS Characters

Here's a great piece of fan art created by Rey Arzeno that combines the awesomeness of Star Wars and X-Men. The images feature Han Solo as Gambit, Princess Leia as Rogue, Luke Skywalker as Nightcrawler, Chewbacca as Beast, Darth Vader as Mystique, and Emperor Palpatine as Destiny. It turned out pretty cool, but if you were to do this differently how would you mash these two universes together?

DARK KNIGHT RISES to Get an Extended Director's Cut?!

$

According to a recent rumor that has hit the net, we are going to get a director's cut of The Dark Knight Rises that will include 30 minutes of extra footage! Christopher Nolan's theatrical cut was already almost three hours long, but we know that Nolan had more of a story to tell, and chances are it will make the movie play out a lot smoother. The report originated at Nuke The Fridge who claims...

Sources have informed Nuke the Fridge that not only is a Director's Cut being developed by Warner Bros. for The Dark Knight Rises, but it's going to include Bane's origin plus a bit more screentime for Ra's Al Ghul (Liam Neeson) which were omitted from the current theatrical cut of the movie....According to our reliable spies we will be able to see how Bane learns to fight plus more scenes involving Ra’s Al Ghul. The new Director's Cut is said to make the film about thirty minutes longer.

There's no confirmation that this rumor is true or not, but if it does happen, it will be the first the first time Nolan has done a director's cut for his Dark Knight films. It's safe to assume that there were a few things in the film that had to be cut out for time. Scenes that maybe Nolan would have included if he could have. If these are scenes that he felt were important to the story then it would make sense that he wants to add them into the DVD/Blu-ray.

We'll find out soon enough if this extended cut turns out to be a reality. Would you like to see an extended cut of this film?

Harley Quinn and Poison Ivy Seduce Batman

I guess this piece of geek art goes a little beyond seduction, Harley Quinn and Poison Ivy have pretty much got Batman right where they want him. He doesn't seem like he's putting up much of a fight either. Can't really blame him, after all, he's a regular guy under that costume with the same weaknesses that all men have.

THE HUNGER GAMES Pitch Video by Kevin Tancharoen

Before Lionsgate chose Gary Ross to direct the big screen adaptation of Suzanne Collins’ The Hunger Games, Mortal Kombat: Legacy director Kevin Tancharoen created a very cool looking video pitch to try and get the gig himself. The pitch, which comes from /Film, shows us a very different vision of the story, that has heavier sci-fi and violent elements than the film Ross ended up making.

The video pitch uses several different scenes from several different movies that shows you what kind of tone the filmmaker is going for. Just like what Joe Carnahan created for Daredevil. This is a great way to pitch movie ideas to studios, along with comic book style pitches. They give people a visual sense of the story being told, and people like to see cool visuals!

It would have been interesting to see Tancharoen's Hunger Games movie, but it's hard to tell if it would have been a better adaptation or not. Check out the video pitch below and let us know if you would have preferred to see Tancharoen's vision of the movie!

AMERICAN HORROR STORY: ASYLUM - Poster and 3 More Teasers

FX isn't slowing down with the marketing of their fantastically insane series American Horror Story: Asylum. They've released a new poster and three new eerily twisted promo teasers.

I've enjoyed everything I've seen of this series so far. I've always had a fascination with the history of mental health and the insane asylums, so I love the setting of this next season.

I'm also impressed with this seasons cast that includes Jessica Lange, Joseph Fiennes, James Cromwell, Adam Levine, Zachary Quinto, Chloe Sevigny, Evan Peters, Britne Oldford, Sarah Paulson, Lily Rabe, Chris Zylka and Lizzie Brochere

Watch the teasers, and get committed on Wednesday October 17th!

The series takes place in an insane asylum in the 1960's that's run by an evil nun, and apparently it will include aliens and Nazis, and a crazy looking serial killer in the series named Bloody Face who wears masks made out of his victims' skin along with a black nightie and opera length gloves. You can read more details on all of the characters here, and watch the two newest character promo trailers here.

SILENT HILL: REVELATION 3D - Official Poster Released

This last weekend we posted a poster similar to this one for Silent Hill: Revelation 3D, but we were asked to take it down because it wasn't the final approved design. Today Open Road Films has officially released the poster for the nightmarishly terrifying franchise.

After seeing the trailer for this film, I'm actually looking forward to the sequel. It looks like they once again did a solid job adapting this horrific world of Silent Hill for the big screen.

The movie was written and directed Michael J. Bassett, and it stars Adelaide Clemens, Sean Bean, Kit Harington, Radha Mitchell, Deborah Kara Unger, Carrie-Ann Moss, Malcolm McDowell, Martin Donovan and Heather Marks.

Here's the Synopsis:

The story follows Heather Mason, along with her father, who have been on the run - always one step ahead of dangerous forces that she doesn't fully understand. Now, on the eve of her 18th birthday, plagued by horrific nightmares and the disappearance of her father, Heather discovers she's not who she thinks she is. The revelation leads her deeper into a demonic world that threatens to trap her in Silent Hill forever.

The movie hits theaters on October 26th, and you can watch the trailer again below. Are you looking forward to this Silent Hill sequel?

The CW is Developing a New WONDER WOMAN Series!

$

Remember when David E. Kelly tried to develop a Wonder Woman TV series for NBC? That didn't turn out too well, and the pilot for the series never even aired. Now the CW is going to give it a try, but this time it sounds like something that will be worth watching.

According to Vulture, Warner Bros. TV and DC Comics have found a new way to successfully bring the legend of Diana of Themyscira back to the small screen in the form of an origin story. I think you're going to like what they want to do with it.

As of right now the series is being developed under the title Amazon and it's being written by Allan Heinberg (Grey's AnatomyThe O.C. and the Young Avengers Comic Book). The series "will focus on Wonder Woman as a young, budding superhero, rather than a fully formed defender of liberty. (Think Smallville, but instead of a "no tights, no flights" rule, this show might have a "no bracelets, no crown" mandate.)"

I think this would make for a fantastic adaption of the classic comic book character! As of right now they're only working on developing the script, and no pilot has been ordered or greenlit. This is still in the very early stages of development, but I would love to see the network run with it. The CW is also a perfect place for this kind of series, especially with shows such as Buffy the Vampire SlayerSmallville, Arrow, and Xena: Warrior Princess under their belt.

As for the Wonder Woman movie, the last thing we heard was that writer Michael Goldenberg (Green Lantern) was developing it. I'm sure it will get made one day, but I doubt it will happen before we see the Justice League movie.

What do you think of the concept behind this potential new Wonder Woman TV series?

Daniel Craig Signed on for Two More James Bond Films

Daniel Craig is currently in the middle of shooting his third James Bond film Skyfall with director Sam Mendes. It won't be the last time we see Craig play 007 though! It's recently been revealed that the actor signed on to five Bond films, so Bond 24 and 25 will also star Craig, and maybe even more if he still feels like doing them! Producer Michael G. Wilson previously said that he hopes Craig will go on to be the longest serving actor in the role. MI6 reports,

Sony Pictures, who through a new co-financing deal with MGM, are also set to continue their relationship that started with Casino Royale in to Bond 24. Studio executives have been alluding to a return to the two-year cycle to produce the 007 adventures, which would peg Bond 24 as a late 2014 release.

I think Craig has made a great Bond, and I'll always support him as the character as long as he plays him. It will be interesting to see who ends up filling his shoes once he's ready to move on from it. EON productions has already started writing up screenwriting contracts for Craig's next two Bond movies, and I can't wait to see what's in store for the character after Skyfall!

How long would you like Craig to play Bond for?

Here's a brief history of the Bond movies:

Sean Connery originally signed up to play 007 in six films starting with "Dr No' (1962), but was released from his contract one film early following "You Only Live Twice" (1967). George Lazenby was then cast as the first replacement, completing "On Her Majesty's Secret Service" (1969) before walking away from a contract for more. Connery was lured back to the role for "Diamonds Are Forever" (1971) and a record fee of £1.25 million which he donated to charity. Roger Moore then took the helm with "Live And Let Die" (1973), the third successive film in the series that had a change in the lead role. Moore steadied the ship and went on to complete a record total of seven outings, culminating in "A View To A Kill" (1985). His contract was originally for four films, but Moore and Broccoli negotiated on a per-film basis thereafter. Timothy Dalton, who had been previously considered for the role, was cast for three films, starting with "The Living Daylights" (1987). After "Licence To Kill" (1989), a six year hiatus followed due to studio legal disputes, leaving Dalton walked away from a possible third film. Pierce Brosnan - who had narrowly missed out on the role in 1987 due to an NBC contract renewal - debuted as 007 in "GoldenEye" (1995). His tenure was set for three films with an option for a fourth, which he completed with "Die Another Day" in 2002. Brosnan was not recalled, and after a four year break, Daniel Craig made his debut in "Casino Royale" (2006).

LOVELY MONSTER Short to be Adapted by Lionsgate

Lionsgate has acquired the rights to an interesting mockumentary short film called Lovely Monster, directed by Francesco Calabrese. The short tells the story of of a young woman named Sophia, who is dealing with a rare and very dangerous condition that turns her into a monster.

The studio will be adapt the short into a feature length film, and it will be directed by Calabrese from a script written by John Scott 3. Scott 3 previously wrote a film called Maggie that follows a teenage girl who slowly becomes a zombie, so he seems like a solid choice write this flick.

I liked the short and I can see the potential of it being a decent movie. Watch the short below, and let us know if you think it will make for a good movie!
