Maid of Might Cosplay is the brains behind this amusing character cosplay mashup that combines the look of Ariel from The Little Mermaid with the style of the slave outfit that Jabba made Princess Leia wear in Return of the Jedi. The photo was snapped by David Ngo.

I also included an Ariel Boba Fett cosplay mashup for your viewing enjoyment. The Little Mermaid Mandalorian armor was created by cosplayer Traci Hines, and the photos you see of her in costume were taken by York In A Box.

There's No End in Sight For THE WALKING DEAD

Just in case you're wondering when The Walking Dead series on AMC is going to come to an end, it seems like there's no end in sight at the moment. This thing could potentially go on forever, as long as there's an audience.

During an interview with Vulture, president of original programming and development at AMC, Joel Stillerman, and president of the network, Charlie Collier, talked about the series and made statements about the show's seemingly never-ending future. Stillerman said:

"The answer to how long the show will go on in some way is directly correlated with the health of the storytelling in the comics. Those comics are firing on all cylinders. [Robert Kirkman] still writes every line of dialogue in those books, and is as engaged as he was when I think he was sitting around in Kentucky writing the first issue. That is very much part of the DNA of the show. He sort of felt like, in real life, this goes on for a very long time. We’re along for that ride."

So I guess as long as Kirkman keeps pumping out comic books telling the story of the survivors of the zombie apocalypse, the show will go on! Collier adds that there really hasn't been any kind of talk or thoughts about ending the series anytime soon:

"I will tell you we are not actively talking about the end of ‘The Walking Dead.’ We’re talking about how to keep this No. 1 show on television feeling as fresh as it does in season six. As a brand, we’re very sensitive to making sure that every aspect of it feels fresh and original, and that it’s not treated in any way that’s derivative or taken for granted. Our planning is current and future-focused, and it is not focused on the end at this time."

That's pretty awesome to know. I've really enjoyed this series and for me, it seems to get better and better with every new season. If they are able to keep up this trend of zombie apocalypse awesomeness, I'll be sticking around to watch.

A new photo has been released for David Ayer's Suicide Squad, and it features the team of villains ready for action! The photo features Harley Quinn (Margot Robbie), Killer Croc (Adewale Akinnuoye-Agbaje), Katana (Karen Fukuhara), Rick Flagg (Joel Kinnaman), Deadshot (Will Smith), and Captain Boomerang (Jai Courtney).

During an interview with USA Today, the director talked about this team of characters:

“We all need good guys and everything — yay, good guys — but at the end of the day, they’re kinda boring. They’re always going to do the right thing. When you’re dealing with the baddies, it’s easy to get ahead of the audience and invert expectations.”

He also went on to praise Jared Leto as Joker saying, “He’s the king of Planet Joker." And when talking about Ben Affleck's Batman in the movie he said:

“We made him fight. He’s awesome (as Batman). ... You really sense that but for the grace of God he himself would be doing some really foul stuff out in the world.”

Affleck can't say much about his part in the movie, but he did say:

“It felt like I have such a cool cousin. This thing that is so awesome is somehow related to me, and that was really exciting because it started to feel like a constellation of things, and I’ve never had that feeling.”

This seems like it's going to be one hell of a crazy movie. I'm more excited for this than I am Batman v Superman: Dawn of JusticeSuicide Squad is set to be released this summer on August 5th, 2016. Expect to see a new trailer soon!

The Russo Bros. Explain How Spider-Man Is Different in CAPTAIN AMERICA: CIVIL WAR

We have yet to see what directors Joe and Anthony Russo have planned for Spider-Man in Captain America: Civil War. I’m personally excited to see what his costume is going to look like, but while we wait for that, ComicBook.com conducted an interview with the directors, and they offered up some thoughts and details on Spider-Man and how he is going to be different from any other version of the character.

They were asked if we would see what Spider-Man looks before the movie is released in theaters. Anthony said that they couldn’t comment on it, and Joe added:

“Part of making these movies is maintaining surprise so that everybody's excited and that's one we're going to make fans surprised.”

They went on to offer some information on Tom Holland’s version of the character and how it will be different from Tobey Maguire and Andrew Garfield’s version of the superhero. Joe said:

“We took a very personal approach to the character. He was my favorite character growing up, so the opportunity to bring Spider-Man to the screen is a dream come true. It's something that I spent a lot of time thinking about as a kid. We had thought back to the things that excited us about him as a character when we were younger, and one of the most important components of that was that he's a high schooler burdened with incredible powers and responsibility. That really differentiates him from every other character in the Marvel universe as opposed to other superheroes. For us, it was extremely important that we cast somebody very close to the age of a high school student. The previous films had adults playing a high schooler. We wanted more of an authenticity to the casting. We were very specific about that. We wanted an energy and charisma from the character, an energy, but also an insecurity that would make him fun to watch in contrast to the confident superheroes.
"It was also important to us that the actor that was cast feel contemporary because the other films that portrayed where he lived is more... they honored the comic books in terms of the choices. But you go look at the home that Tobey Maguire lived in in Raimi’s Spider-Man was... those were very expensive homes. We wanted to relate it to the reality…”

They directors went on to explain that the loved the “everyman appeal” of the character, and Joe talked about taking a realistic approach to bringing the character to life:

“A character growing up with his aunt in New York, a single income family… Where would they live? What would that look like? Where could they afford to live? We asked ourselves all those questions. We try to take a very logical and realistic and naturalistic approach to the character. Again, in combination those are all of the things that we try to do, and of course, to bring our own touches, too.”

Anthony then commented on tone they are taking with the character and how he will fit in the Marvel Cinematic Universe:

“I would also add, again, we're introducing this character in a Captain America movie. If you look at what we did with Winter Soldier with the Cap character in terms of bringing him into the modern world, trying to ground the movie tonally into something that was a step toward real-world, at least to the degree you can do that in a superhero movie, that's still the tonal universe that we're playing in in Civil War. We're bringing a character… we're bringing Spider-Man into the movie in that universe, now, in that specific tonal stylistic world. I think underscoring everything Joe was saying about your question in terms of how were we thinking about the character in relation to past interpretations of the character, part of our choices were all so colored by the specifics of the world what we were playing in with these two Captain America movies, meaning Winter Soldier and Civil War. It's a very specific tonal world. It's a little more grounded and a little more hard-core contemporary. That was also coloring our choices a lot about the character on Spider-Man.”

The Russos went on to talk about their fandom, and how they grew up with these characters and why they were so important to them. It’s their love for these characters that made them want to bring the to life on the big screen in the greatest ways possible. Joe concluded with:

“I want to be clear. We're not trying to denigrate other interpretations of Spider-Man. Raimi's movies are fantastic. Spider-Man one and two are amazing. Two, is one of if not my favorite comic book movie of all time. But he made a very strong choice with those movies from a color palate standpoint to a costume standpoint, execution standpoint, camerawork standpoint to honor the feeling of the comic book. We're trying to honor the feeling of naturalism and to honor the feeling of reality. The harder we can pull these characters into reality, the better for us, especially because we're all so connected now through social media, the Internet. We're all so dialed in to what's happening in current events. That it's important for us that these characters live in the world that we live in because it makes them more real and it makes our experience of watching them more passionate and more well-rounded.”

I have complete faith in that these directors and Marvel will be able to give us one of the best versions of Spider-Man that has been brought to the big screen!

Wired Magazine Profile of Lex Luthor Teases His Personality in BATMAN V SUPERMAN

Wired Magazine has done something interesting. They recently ran an interview with the fictional Lex Luther from Zack Snyder’s Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice. I think this is really cool because it actually gives you a decent taste of the kind of personality that Jesse Eisenberg’s version of the character will have in the story. It also gives us an idea of what his motivations are.

When you read it, it’s not hard to imagine Eisenberg saying these things in the film. The dialogue really seems to mesh with his acting style. Here’s an excerpt from the interview, but make sure to head on over to Wired to read the full thing:

RON TROUPE:  Would you say you’re a man who’s always gotten what he wants?
LEX LUTHOR:  Nice pivot. Here’s mine: What I want is to leave the planet in better shape for the next generation. To make the world and its children safer. I want it. And I bet you do too, Ron.
RON TROUPE:  You sound like someone running for political office.
LEX LUTHOR:  If that matches their rhetoric, then maybe I should pay more attention to the candidates; I might want to back a few of them. The world is changing faster than we anticipated; we’ve all seen it. More than ever, we need leaders who not only comprehend the new threats facing us, but who will seriously and thoughtfully address them.
RON TROUPE: You’ve been very vocal about that. About the new superhuman threat.
LEX LUTHOR: Well I don’t know where you got that term. I think to be a super human, one should begin by being, you know, from this planet.
RON TROUPE: Bad choice of words?
LEX LUTHOR: We should all be careful when we elevate anyone, human or alien, to “super” status.
RON TROUPE: Because we’re all equal.
LEX LUTHOR: Well that’s just absurd. No – I’m saying we need to be selective and elevate the right people. The right human people.
RON TROUPE: And what are your thoughts on the Batman? He’s human. Presumably.
LEX LUTHOR: Well, he is. In fact, I’d say he’s all too human. Any objective analyst will tell you that his brand of justice, vigilantism, is painfully outmoded, designed to be effective in an age when the law carried billy clubs because crime carried knives. The most dangerous guy on the street worked in the shadows because he was cowardly and superstitious. That’s all you needed to play upon in order to disrupt their operations. You want to clean up the streets? Dress up like the boogeyman, switch on a fog machine and lower your voice.
RON TROUPE: When you put it that way, it sounds ridiculous.
LEX LUTHOR: It didn’t when the Batman first appeared, but that was a long time ago. This is a new world, Ron, and it’s time to get serious.

Lex Luthor is the “cover story,” for the magazine, and it was handed out at CES 2016 last week. Eisenberg recently said in an interview with the LA Times that this movie would feature “the greatest scene” that he’s “ever gotten to take part in,” and apparently it deals with his change of hair in the film. So that’s something to look forward to!

AVENGERS: INFINITY WAR Confirmed to Unite the Marvel Universe to Battle Thanos

A lot of Marvel fans have been wondering if the characters in Guardians of the Galaxy would be included in the story for Avengers: Infinity War. This is a subject matter that James Gunn has been very quite about, and Infinity War directors Joe and Anthony Russo won’t really give a straight answer either, but they did give a very interesting hintduring an interview with ComicBook.com

The directing duo was asked if they have had any discussions with Marvel about bringing the Guardians heroes into Infinity War, Joe said:

“That is another one that we would have to reserve as a surprise, but we will say this: People will not be disappointed in the amount of characters in the movie. The concept of Infinity War is that the Marvel universe unites to battle the greatest threat to the world and universe that you’ve ever seen, and we’re going to honor that concept.”

It's great to hear that the Marvel universe will unite in this movie! The way that he’s talking here, it sounds to me like there’s a strong possibility we could not only see the Guardians show up to help fight the threat of Thanos, but this could this also mean that we might see the characters from the Marvel Netflix series' as well, such as Daredevil, Jessica Jones, Luke Cage, Iron Fist, and Punisher? I hope so! That would be just as exciting! The fact that he says he wants to reserve this for a surprise is kind of another hint. If these characters aren’t in it, why just not say no!? Saying no wouldn’t spoil any surprises, but saying yes would!

Joe went on to talk about taking Avengers: Infinity War to a more cosmic place than the Avengers have ever been before. This movie won’t be as grounded as the Captain America films they have made, but is will have a “psychological realism":

“Yeah, we certainly have. I sat in the theater and watched Empire Strikes Back seven times in a row when I was a kid. Yeah, we're science fiction fans as well, Dungeons and Dragons. We collected all the books when we were kids. We had figurines. Anything that you could think of that has to do with fantasy or sci-fi or superheroes was in our universe. We're just going to approach the cosmic side with the same fervor that we did the earthbound work we've been doing. We also are going to work really hard to bring a psychological realism. We obviously can't bring a naturalism to it because it doesn't really exist outside of science fiction, but we can bring that psychological realism to it, to the characters, and that's going to be our focus.
"Also, it's going to be our focus to explore the cosmic side, applying the same rules that we like to apply to the last two films that we've done. It ends up being the rules of physics always apply or apply as much as we can get them to apply based on what we're doing.”

Sounds to me like they are building up to something freakin’ epic! I can’t wait to see what it is!

Avengers: Infinity War Part 1 is set to be released in movie theaters on May 4th, 2018, and Avengers: Infinity War Part 2 is scheduled to be released in movie theaters on May 3rd, 2019.

Hulu has released a new full trailer for their adaption of Stephen King’s time travel adventure story called 11.22.63. The limited series stars James Franco, who goes back in time to prevent the assassination of John F. Kennedy.

I loved this story, and this thrilling series looks like it’s going to be awesome. The story follows a high school English teacher named Jake Epping (Franco) who travels back in time to prevent the assassination of President John F. Kennedy, “but his mission is threatened by Lee Harvey Oswald, falling in love and the past itself, which doesn’t want to be changed.”

The series have a talented cast of actors that also includes Chris Cooper, Josh Duhamel, T.R. Knight, Cherry Jones, Sarah Gadon, Lucy Fry, George MacKay, and Daniel Webber

The eight-part event series will premiere on February 15th, 2016, and the first two episodes were directed by Academy Award-winning director Kevin Macdonald (Last King of Scotland, State of Play, Black Sea).

I’m super excited to watch this series! Now, enjoy the trailer!

Kevin Smith Set to Direct an Episode of THE FLASH

The CW has announced that writer and director Kevin Smith (Clerks, Mallrats) will direct an upcoming episode of the hit superhero series The Flash.

As many of you know, Smith is a huge comic book geek, and he's written several of them over the years. At one point back in the 90s he also wrote the script for Superman Lives, which never made it into production. It's interesting to note that The Flash will actually be the very first time that the filmmaker will direct something based on an existing comic book property.

There's no information on what the episode he directs will entail, but it will air in May of 2016. The season finale will air shortly after. I'm curious to see what Smith will do with an episode of The Flash and if his filmmaking style will influence it. Hopefully, the storyline doesn't involve any giant robot spiders.

David Bowie Passes Away at Age 69

From Jareth the Goblin King in Labyrinth to a multitude of dynamic performances as a musician, model, and actor, David Bowie was a truly iconic figure representing honesty and beauty in art. His last album, Blackstar, was just released on January 8th, featuring these lyrics:

“Look up here, I’m in heaven
I’ve got scars that can’t be seen
I’ve got drama, can’t be stolen
Everybody knows me now
Oh I’ll be free
Just like that bluebird
Oh I’ll be free
Ain’t that just like me”

Lazarus by David Bowie

A tweet from his son, Duncan Jones, shows a picture of him as a toddler sitting on his father’s shoulders as he confirmed this news:

Bowie had been battling cancer for the final 18 months of his life.

“Everybody knows me now,” is a phrase repeated in his last single. As if words could possibly be enough to describe his contribution to our world: a lot of us know who we are because of what Bowie has contributed to our lives through the utter mastery of his work for over five decades.

Our thoughts and prayers go out to Bowie's family and friends.

Set photos have been leaked online prior to the return of Arrow on January 20th, and it looks like Felicity Smoak is alive! Set photos uploaded by Canadagraphs show actress Emily Bett Rickards on set and in a wheelchair as Felicity.

Full disclosure: I was a hundred percent against the Olicity romance, but even I got upset when I saw her shot up in the limo, so I'm glad she's supposedly okay! I don't think many people expected Felicity to be underneath the gravestone Oliver is standing in front of at the beginning of the season, but if not her... who?

Are Marvel Fans Prepared for What’s in Store in CAPTAIN AMERICA: CIVIL WAR?

$

Marvel fans might think they are prepared for what Captain America: Civil War is going to do with the MCU, but the Russo Bros., who are directing the film, aren’t so sure that you are.

During an interview with ComicBook.com, the directing duo was asked about the impact that this movie will have on the MCU, and Joe Russo responded:

“It's going to be more evolved than it ever has been with in any of the films. Winter Soldier created a seismic shift in terms of the world of the Marvel Universe. This is going to create a seismic shift in the psychology of the character which is more profound. It's a very profound shift.”

Joe went on to explain the importance of the story that they are developing, which starts with Civil War and ends with Infinity Wars, and how they don’t think audiences are really prepared for what this story arc will give fans:

“For us, we really are firm believers in stakes. We like movies with high highs and low lows and we just feel like you get a more well-rounded experience in that type of film. Now that we’re engaged in serialized storytelling, it starts with Winter Soldier and ends with the Infinity War movies. We feel it's very important that those four films, Civil War, and both Infinity War movies, have a very profound effect on the audience. I think a lot of shocking things are going to happen, which is really interesting because you haven't had this kind of... maybe other than Harry Potter, I guess you can count the Bond series… but the kind of investment over a period of time with this many characters behaving in a universe. I think our job is to send you on a very profound experience between now and 2019 and it starts with Civil War. I don't know if people will be prepared for what this movie is going to include.”

There have been spoilery rumors about some of the things we can expect from this movie. If you are interested in reading up on any of them here's a link to all of our Civil War coverage. Based on the way the Russo Bros. are talking, it sounds like the film is going to involve some pretty heavy stuff. Captain America: Civil War is scheduled to be released in movie theaters on May 6th, 2016.

Here Are the Netflix Codes for Categories Geeks Will Find Helpful

Recently it was discovered that inputting numbers into the search field (See Update) on Netflix will take you to specific movie categories. This is helpful as a majority of Netflix's library does not appear on your home screen unless it's new or they think you'll like it. While Netflix's smart suggestions aren't entirely off base with me, they do also aggregate my wife's picks, so they aren't as perfect as I would like. Inputting some of these codes into your search and rating some titles will make your Netflix a geek hub before you know it!

IMPORTANT UPDATE: The codes do not work by search. They must be input at the end of a URL in your browser like: http://www.netflix.com/browse/genre/8985 or just click the numbered links.

ARRESTED DEVELOPMENT Teases Satire of Donald Trump and MAKING A MURDERER for Season 5

Season 4 of Arrested Development ended with Lindsay Bluth gaining political support for a speech she gave on constructing a wall around Mexico and Buster Bluth getting locked up for a crime he says he's innocent of. THIS ALL HAPPENED THREE YEARS AGO. Granted, Donald Trump has been going on about his wall for quite a while, but props to Mitch Hurwitz to really telegraphing a perfect set up for season five. Deadline reports that both Donald Trump and Netflix's other acclaimed series, Making A Murderer, will be spoofed heavily in the upcoming season.

Yeah, supposedly other plans were in place, but the current events made it so perfect that Hurwitz has rewritten episodes to fit the current state of our nation.

There were some story lines that had to be scrapped as well, such as George Bluth becoming a woman. This story was nixed for Jeffrey Tambor after his acclaimed performance in Transparent, for fear it would undermine his role there. Still no word on when it will be done, as actors have not even been secured as of yet, but we're hoping it happens soon!

In Star Wars: A New Hope Obi-Wan Kenobi explains to Luke how Anakin Skywalker was murdered by Darth Vader. As Kenobi said in Return of the Jedi, "What I told you was true, from a certain point of view," but this wonderful fan-made video puts it all in perspective in a very powerful way.

The video was cut together by Shahan Reviews, and he basically inserts Obi-Wan's memories from Revenge of the Sith into the original scene from A New Hope. This adds some heavy emotional weight to the footage of both movies. This video really moved me.

The first trailer for director Gary Ross’ upcoming Civil War action drama, Free State of Jones, has been released. Ross is the same guy who wrote and directed The Hunger Games, Seabiscuit, and Pleasantville

The movie stars Matthew McConaughey as a defiant Southern farmer named Newt Knight, who rose up in armed rebellion against the Confederacy.

Banding together with other small farmers and local slaves, Knight launched an uprising that led Jones County, Mississippi to secede from the Confederacy, creating a Free State of Jones. Knight continued his struggle into Reconstruction, distinguishing him as a compelling, if controversial, figure of defiance long beyond the War.

The movie also stars Gugu Mbatha-Raw (Beyond the Lights), Keri Russell (Dawn of the Planet of the Apes), and Mahershala Ali (The Hunger Games: Mockingjay Part 1, House of Cards). Free State of Jones is set to hit theaters on May 13th, 2016

Viewers of the Golden Globes last night were treated to the premiere of a new trailer for the upcoming season of House of Cards! I was just wondering earlier that day if a new season was on the way as it has historically been released Valentine's Day weekend and got my answer. Frank Underwood addresses the nation on what he believes America needs.

I'll be honest, last season was a bit dull to me compared to other seasons, so hopefully this one is a lot better! The fact it's an election year should definitely make it at least a little more riveting than it typically is!

The series aired last season to a lot of fan response, and it looks like viewings were good enough to justify another 7 mini episode series! IGN reports that CW also intends to run a recut version of the season on the network after it concludes, and regrets not having done so with the first season.
