ANT-MAN - Deleted Scene, Mid-Credits Scene, Macroverse Featurette, and Concept Art

ant-man-deleted-scene-mid-credits-scene-macroverse-featurette-and-concept-art

We’ve got a bunch of cool things to share with you for Marvel’s Ant-Man. I know the movie is yesterday’s news, but the Blu-ray/DVD is coming out soon, and we’re starting to see a few new things that are worth checking out!

We’ve got a deleted scene that features Scott Lang disguised as a cable repairman in order to scope out Hank Pym’s home before he robs it. Pym, of course, is wearing a disguise of his own. Peyton Reed and Paul Rudd provide commentary for the scene.

We also have the mid-credits scene for the movie where Hope Van Dyne is introduced to The Wasp suit. Then there’s a featurette for the film that explores the Macroverse, which is the point of view of Ant-Man when he is shrunk down in size.

The final thing I included is another alternate piece of concept art for Ant-Man’s suit, which comes from artist Andy Park. You can see a couple of other designs that he did for the character here and here.

Ant-Man will be available digitally on November 17th and on Blu-ray and DVD on December 8th.

STAR WARS: THE FORCE AWAKENS Disney XD Special With New Footage and Verizon Ad

“We got company.”

Thanks to a brief special that aired on Disney XD, we have even more new footage for you to see from Star Wars: The Force Awakens. There are a lot of cool shots in this one featuring some First Order weapons, Rey, Finn, Poe, and General Hux, and it even includes an alternate take of Han Solo saying, “Were home.” I've also included a Verizon commercial featuring Chewbacca and BB-8.

I’ve seen a few people say that they are already getting Star Wars fatigue. You know what? Fans have been hopelessly waiting for these films to happen for years! Now here it is, it’s actually happening! It’s a great time to be a geek and Star Wars fan. I will never feel any fatigue for this franchise! It’s one of the main reasons why I am who I am today.

So, that being said… I will continue to post Star Wars stuff on the site. I love this franchise, I love the fans, and I love the unification that we have. Star Wars: The Force Awakens is just the beginning of a long road of stories and films. Star Wars is going to be around for years to come. Star Wars fandom has been going strong since 1977, and I honestly don’t think it will ever stop.

Now enjoy the videos below! The movie hits theaters on December 18th.

Disney’s Final CAPTAIN EO Screening Will Be on December 6th

It looks like Disney is ready to retire Michael Jackson’s 3D adventure film Captain EO for good. Even though the movie hasn’t played at Disneyland for years, it’s still been an attraction at Walt Disney World’s Epcot Center. But it won’t be for much longer.

http://comicbook.com/2015/11/14/disneys-final-captain-eo-show-will-be-on-december-6/1

According to the Disney fan blog Chip & Company the final screening of the film will take place on December 6th. The even posted proof with this poster that was posted outside of the attraction.

Captain EO was released in 1986, and I would watch it every time I went to Disneyland up until the point that they removed it. I am such a big fan of the Francis Ford Coppola-directed sci-fi film, and it’s kind of sad to hear that it will no longer be a part of any of the Disney parks.

The next time we might see Captain EO is in the video game Disney Infinity. At least that’s what Disney VP John Vignocchi wants to do. He got the greenlight, so I don’t see why he wouldn’t!

Captain EO will also always live online, but it's just not the same watching it in a theater in 3D with awesome sound.

James McAvoy Asked About Jubilee's Lame Powers in X-MEN: APOCALYPSE

I’ve always thought that Jubilee was one of the lamest X-Men ever created. The fact that her special power is basically shooting out fireworks is pretty weak sauce. She has her fanbase, though. I’m just not among them. In a recent interview with Bravo TV, James McAvoy is asked which of the X-Men have the lamest powers, and of course, he brought up Jubilee, and in the process he reveals that they were changed up a bit for X-Men: Apocalypse:

“Her power was kind of like, ‘What is her power? She can kind of make fireworks come out of her fingers in the cartoon, but I think in the movie they make it more like, ‘She is the mistress of electricity…’ But Jubilee is in the new movie, and she doesn’t suck at all.”

Jubilee is played by Lana Condor in the film, and her bright yellow costume design is true to her character’s origin. Since it was first announced that this Jubilee would be included in the movie, I’ve been curious to see how she’s portrayed. Maybe we’ll get to see her in action in the upcoming trailer that will be attached to Star Wars: The Force Awakens.

What are your thoughts on Jubilee being a part of the film and changing up her powers a bit?

Pixar's INSIDE OUT Recut as a Dark Psychological Thriller

“We all have little voices in our head.”

CineMash has taken Pixar's charming heartfelt animated adventure about emotions, Inside Out, and cut together a trailer that makes it look like a dark and disturbing psychological thriller. It's brilliantly done in a way that makes Riley look like she's losing her mind, and it doesn't use any of the emotion characters from the film. So it basically shows us what this movie would actually be like if we didn't see what was going on in her head with Joy, Sadness, Anger, Fear and Disgust.

This is how regular observers would see her in real life. Turns out she's just a deeply disturbed kid descending into madness as she is battling the voices in her head while trying to survive in her new home of San Francisco. Of course, the eerie music used in the video really drives the point home.

JESSICA JONES - 2 Purple Man Clips, Stylish Promo, Poster, and Stan Lee Cameo

We’ve got a few more things to share with you for Marvel’s Jessica Jones today! We’ve got two new clips from the series involving the Purple Man (David Tennant), and a stylish new promo spot featuring footage from the series wrapped in a purple haze. We’ve also got a new poster featuring Kilgrave, aka Purple Man, whispering sweet evil things into Jessica Jones’ ear, and finally a Stan Lee cameo has been spotted… kind of. He’s not really in the series, but they do have a photo of him in the background on the wall of a police station. This is the same photo that originally appeared in the 13th episode of Daredevil. You can see it in the screenshot under the promo video at the bottom.

Ever since her short-lived stint as a Super Hero ended in tragedy, Jessica Jones has been rebuilding her personal life and career as a hot-tempered, sardonic, badass private detective in Hell's Kitchen, New York City. Plagued by self-loathing, and a wicked case of PTSD, Jessica battles demons from within and without, using her extraordinary abilities as an unlikely champion for those in need... especially if they're willing to cut her a check. It's time the world knew her name.

Jessica Jones will be released on Netflix on November 20th, and I can’t wait!

The beloved Browncoat Mal Reynolds brings his crew into the Legacy Collection. He wears his signature brown coat, red shirt, and knee-high boots. His face is solemn, considering the best course of action for his crew. He comes with two weapon accessories. After all, a smuggler’s got to protect himself somehow.
Muscle man Jayne Cobb won’t be seen without a weapon in hand – not even as a Legacy Collection action figure! He wears his usual clothes but comes with a veritable arsenal, two guns, an extra clip, and even a dagger.
The Kaylee Legacy figure has Jewel Staite’s sweet smile as she wears the iconic green coveralls, complete with teddy bear patch. She also wears her pink flowery shirt and comes with a wrench so she can repair the engine at any given time.
Husband and wife team Hoban “Wash” and Zoe Washburne also join the Legacy line. Wash wears his green flight suit and floral print shirt. And, since this is a fertile land (or is it your grave? Mwahaha!), he comes with two dinosaur figures. Zoe wears her classic leather vest with her curly hair cascading down. She comes with two weapons, ready for action as the captain’s right hand woman.

ALIEN: COVENANT Is Rumored to Feature Two Xenomorph-Type Monsters

Earlier today we learned that Ridley Scott's upcoming Prometheus sequel will now be called Alien: Covenant. We now have some additional information regarding the film that comes from Scified. The site claims to have learned that the new sequel will feature two Xenomorph-type monsters, and also teases some story elements of the movie.

Both of these alien creatures will have similarities to the classic Xenomorph, and their source offers potential details for one of the aliens but didn't have much intel on the other. If you don't want to know any story details then don't read any further because there are possible SPOILERS ahead. Here's what their source gave them:

alien-covenant-is-rumored-to-feature-two-xenomorph-type-monsters
“The movie will have 2 Monsters, one is new and both are different yet similar to the Xeno DNA. The NEW Monster is a New Event, so it’s nothing created before the Events of the end of the First movie.... it's created by an event in the movie... and this New Monster is going to be based off of the Original Concept that Alien drew influence from, and this idea is something they had planned with Spaights’ Ultramorph and so Gigers Necomonicon 4 is the starting point. This Monster will be transparent like a Jelly Fish to a degree.... and it’s hinted that David plays a part in its creation.
"The movie won’t be going the route of an Alien movie, just we will see more clues and things that we can relate and make connection to the Xeno DNA and Bio-Mechanics of the Engineers.  The movie will loosely touch up on themes that can connect to the Prometheus Mythos and the Bible but more in respect to the Paradise Lost version of events but again loosely.
"They won’t be going a full blown Ancient Aliens in detail on us, just we can make subtle links to themes, such as Rebellion, Order of Creation (that has multiple layers that does not start with the Engineers and does not end with David). Stealing of Forbiden Knowledge and Fire and how playing God and going against God always has dire consequences.”

I do love that these new creatures will be inspired by the original concept art that Giger created for the first film. This next movie will be the second film of a trilogy that Scott is planning that will lead into the first Alien film. I'm curious to see how this story arc actually plays out. Hopefully it's something Alien fans will love and embrace, unlike PrometheusAlien: Covenant will be released on May 30th, 2017.

Luke Skywalker Kill Count - STAR WARS Movie Supercut

Luke Skywalker is one of the great movie heroes ever, but he sure did kill a lot of people! In case you've ever wondered how many people Luke has killed throughout the Star Wars movies, Mr. Sunday Movies has put together a supercut showing us just how many individuals died by his hands and actions. The numbers were surprisingly staggering. I knew he killed a lot of people, but there are some things that I just never took into account, like every person who lived on the Death Star that he obliterated.

Netflix Announces Its Newest Drama Will Be A Western Starring GAME OF THRONES' Jason Momoa

0
0

Khal Drogo is heading to a streaming platform near you.

Netflix has given the greenlight to a new western drama called Frontier, which has Game of Thrones and Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice actor Jason Momoa in the lead role. Brad Peyton (San Andreas) will direct. The streaming service has approved a six episode first season, which will be shot in Canada and is scheduled to premiere sometime in 2016.

Here's a description of the series:

“[Frontier is] an action-packed adventure drama following the chaotic and violent struggle to control wealth and power in the North American fur trade in the late 18th century. Told from multiple perspectives, the series takes place in a world where business negotiations might be resolved with close-quarter hatchet fights, and where delicate relations between Native tribes and Europeans can spark bloody conflicts.”

Sounds like it has some shades of The Revenant in there with the fur trading aspect, and I can easily envision the hulking Momoa weighed down with pelts and armed to the teeth with knives and blades as he tries to make it in a harsh environment. Alun Armstrong (Braveheart), Landon Liboiron (Hemlock Grove), and Zoe Boyle (Downton Abbey) are also set to star, but let's be honest: the only reason everyone's going to be tuning in is to see Momoa in action. Hopefully this will serve as a cool project that will take up a lot of his time as he waits for his Aquaman solo film to start shooting; that movie is slated to arrive in theaters on July 27th, 2018.

Creating a western show will be a new step for Netflix. While the company has continued to expand its original programming over the past few years, its delved into some period pieces like Narcos and Marco Polo, but this will be the first series that has this kind of vibe to it. The streaming service isn't entirely unfamiliar with westerns, though — Adam Sandler's The Ridiculous 6 will begin streaming on December 11th of this year.

Visual Comparisons of Imagery From The WARCRAFT Movie and The Game

I was completely blown away by that first trailer for Duncan Jones' Warcraft movie. The visuals of that film look freakin' stunning. It looks like it's going to be a hard sell on general audiences, though, who aren't familiar with the game, or might not be into the fantasy film genre.

For those of you not familiar with World of Warcraft, I have a graphic here that shows you how certain visuals of the game compare to the visuals of the upcoming movie. It really shows you how incredible the film looks in comparison.

The visuals were compiled by Aerial51zd (via Kotaku) and it focuses on several of the fantasy locations that we were shown in the trailer for the movie. Jones and his team truly captured this universe perfectly.

Slimer Rumored to Make An Appearance in GHOSTBUSTERS Reboot

0
0

We already know most of the core members of the original Ghostbusters cast will be making cameo appearances in Paul Feig's Ghostbusters reboot. Those actors include Bill Murray, Dan Aykroyd, Ernie Hudson, Annie Potts, and even Sigourney Weaver. Now it looks like a character from the original movie will be appearing in the film, and that character is Slimer.

The news comes from Bloody-Disgusting, who say that they've confirmed it through three separate inside sources. It was also rumored that The Simpsons voice action Dan Castellaneta (Homer, Krusty the Clown) would provide the voice of the character. That part was listed on IMDb, but Feig took to Twitter and debunked that casting.

In the end, though, it's looking like Slimer will be in the movie, and why wouldn't he!? He was one of the most iconic ghosts from the original franchise. It would make complete sense to want to bring the ectoplasmic specter into the story, and I'm sure one of the new Ghostbusters will end up being slimed by him.

Even though it would be fun to see Slimer back on the big screen, I feel like for a reboot that wants to separate itself from the original movie, they are sure incorporating a lot from that original movie into this one. That might make this movie hard to actually stand on its own. I guess we'll just have to wait and see.

Kristen Wiig, Melissa McCarthy, Kate McKinnon, Leslie Jones, and Chris Hemsworth star in the film. I might not be excited about it, but I'm still curious to see what exactly Feig is going to do with this franchise. Ghostbusters will be released on July 15th, 2016.

This past Friday night, I was lucky enough to be able to attend the opening night party of Disney and Lucasfilm's Art Awakens show at Gallery 1988 in Los Angeles. I took a bunch of pictures of (almost) all of the art I saw while I was there, and you can bid on many of these pieces right now on Ebay, and the proceeds benefit UNICEF Kid Power under the Star Wars: Force for Change initiative. Check out the images below, including a shot or two of Star Wars: The Force Awakens writer/producer/director J.J. Abrams and co-writer Lawrence Kasdan, who were there to see all of this amazing art firsthand.

Logo for ALIEN: COVENANT, Synopsis Says It Links Directly to ALIEN

alien-coveneant-official-logo-and-synopsis

20th Century Fox has released the official logo and synopsis for Ridley Scott's Alien: Covenant, and as you can see, this is going to be a real Alien film. I think it's very encouraging for Alien fans! As for the synopsis, it confirms a few things we've previously heard:

Ridley Scott returns to the universe he created in Alien with Alien: Covenant, the second chapter in a prequel trilogy that began with Prometheus -- and connects directly to Scott's 1979 seminal work of science fiction. Bound for a remote planet on the far side of the galaxy, the crew of the colony ship Covenant discovers what they think is an uncharted paradise, but is actually a dark, dangerous world -- whose sole inhabitant is the "synthetic" David (Michael Fassbender), survivor of the doomed Prometheus expedition.

There's one interesting thing about this synopsis that I noticed, and that's that Noomi Rapace and her character Elizabeth Shaw are nowhere to be found — David is the only inhabitant on this planet. Does that mean she won't be in the movie? I guess there's a chance she could have died after she left LV-223 with David in search for the Engineers. Since David is a synthetic, though, he would have been able to survive. I also like that it links directly to Scott's 1979 classic.

Infographic: Explore The Best Fake Books Within Movies, TV Shows, and Video Games

With the proliferation of technology at our fingertips, it seems to me that it's becoming more rare for people of this generation to sit down and physically read a book these days. Audiobooks and e-readers are one thing, but there's nothing like sitting down and actually turning the pages as you get lost in another world.

If my guess is correct and people don't read books that often anymore, it stands to reason that they're consuming other kinds of media with their time, and sometimes those pieces of fiction contain famous fake pieces of fiction within them. (Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them is a good example: what started as a textbook within the Harry Potter series is now getting its own film adaptation.) MyPrint247.co.uk has created an infographic that lists some of "Fiction's Greatest Fiction," with a brief description of each. Check it out below and let us know which one is your favorite:

Four Posters For THE HUNTSMAN: WINTER'S WAR Reveal Emily Blunt and Jessica Chastain's Characters

0

Four great-looking character posters have been released for Universal Pictures' upcoming fantasy adventure film The Huntsman: Winter's War. This is a sequel to Rupert Wyatt's Snow White and the Huntsman, and the posters show us the return of Chris Hemsworth in the title role and Charlize Theron as The Evil Queen. They also feature newcomers Emily Blunt as The Ice Queen and Jessica Chastain as The Warrior.

The Huntsman is being directed by VFX artist Cedric Nicolas-Troyan, from a script written by Evan Spiliotopoulos and Craig Mazin. I wasn't the biggest fan of the first movie, put it was visually stunning and Theron was awesome in the role of the Evil Queen. This sequel has two more power female actresses that I'm a fan of, and they look great, so of course I'm going to see the movie!

The Huntsman: Winter's War will land in theaters on April 22nd, 2016.

There's a Full-Sized X-Wing Hanging Out at a Singapore Airport

0
0

A lot of Star Wars fans will go out of their way to take advantage of opportunities that try to replicate what it would be like to actually be in one of the movies. How'd you like to check "sit in an X-wing cockpit" off your bucket list? If you happen to be in or around Singapore for the next few weeks, I'd highly recommend stopping by Changi Airport, because THERE'S A FULL-SIZED X-WING AT TERMINAL 3 THAT YOU CAN SIT IN. Pretty rad, right? The opportunity to chill out in the life-sized vehicle is a first-come first-served situation in which 80 tickets are given out for each time slot, so you'll have to be quick (or adept at Jedi mind tricks) if you want your moment of glory.

As if that wasn't cool enough, Terminal 2 of the airport also has a huge TIE Fighter on display (though that one doesn't appear to be 100% full sized, and it's unclear if guests can enter that cockpit). Still awesome, though.

The photo ops will be available until January 5th, 2016, so book your tickets quickly. New Year's Eve in Singapore, anyone?

A Remake of Christopher Nolan's MEMENTO is Coming Soon

0
0

Remake culture's latest victim is Christopher Nolan's Memento, the 2000 mystery thriller that starred Guy Pearce and Carrie-Anne Moss. THR reports that AMBI Pictures has acquired the rights to the library of Exclusive Media Group (which includes 400 films including Sliding Doors, Rush, Cruel Intentions, and Donnie Darko, to name a few) and given the greenlight to a remake of Nolan's twisty brain-bender. Monika Bacardi, one of AMBI's executives, released the following statement:

Memento is a masterpiece that leaves audiences guessing not just throughout the film, but long after as well, which is a testament to its daring approach. We intend to stay true to Christopher Nolan’s vision and deliver a memorable movie that is every bit as edgy, iconic and award-worthy as the original. It’s a big responsibility to deliver something that lives up to the mastery of the original, but we are extremely excited and motivated to bring this puzzle back to life and back into the minds of moviegoers.”

Like any sane person, I'm not against the idea of remakes. There are dozens of excellent, iconic remakes that transcended the original film and became legendary in their own right. I can understand people complaining about Hollywood being out of ideas, but it boils down to this: right now, Hollywood is still very reliant on name recognition in the hopes of minimizing risk, and as long as people continue to pay to see remakes, the studios will continue to make them.

If you think Memento is a classic and doesn't deserve the remake treatment, your choice is simple: don't pay to see the remake. Ever. That's the only way Hollywood will get the message. It depends on who they hire to write, direct, and star in it, but as of right now, I'm not interested in seeing this story retold since I think Nolan did it perfectly the first time around. If an interesting group of talent is suddenly attached and it seems like they're going to put their own spin on it that I'll enjoy, I'm not going to avoid it just for the principle.

What do you think?

The Duplass Brothers Turned Down Making a Marvel or DC Superhero Movie

0
0

As a big part of the Mumblecore subgenre in the mid-2000s, Jay and Mark Duplass have spent the past ten years making small, mostly independent, low-budget films. But that doesn't mean they haven't caught the eye of some big-time Hollywood movie executives. In a new interview with L.A. Magazine, the duo reveal that they've actually been approached and offered a major superhero film for either Marvel or DC, but they ended up turning it down because it conflicted with the way they make movies:

"We have been [approached]," Mark answered. "We said no. The thing that happens when you sign on to a $180 million movie is that the movie is not a movie. It's a commodity. We're not in that business."
"It's very easy to blow people's minds in Hollywood," added Jay. "Just say no. Now, if it were Batman and Robin as a 98 percent relationship drama in the Bat Cave...I would bet that's 12,000 people's favorite movie."

It's no secret that with an increased budget comes an increased number of interests to satisfy aside from your own, and I think the Duplass brothers have managed to essentially become kings of the indie genre specifically because they've held true to their artistic visions and sacrificed larger budgets for movies where they wouldn't have to compromise. Even films that they just act in or executive produce, like Safety Not Guaranteed or The One I Love, aren't big movies by any means, but they still have a real sense of artistic truth to them, like we're seeing a pretty pure distillation of the director's vision. And while people like James Gunn, Jon Favreau, and the Russo Brothers transitioned from smaller movies to the big-budget world of Marvel Studios, there's still enough room for The Duplass's if they decide to one day join the world of superhero blockbusters. In the meantime, they're perfectly content with what they're doing now, expanding their indie empire and working hard on season two of HBO's Togetherness, which returns to TV in February.

If they changed their minds, would you be interested in seeing the Duplass Brothers direct a big DC or Marvel film?
