George Ramensky has a hobby of transforming ball-jointed dolls into custom made action figures. He has a whole collection of them, most of which are really cool, but these Mad Max: Fury Road figures are some of his coolest ones he's created. They feature the characters Furiosa and Max. The details on these things are pretty immaculate. You'll get a good look at them in the closeup shots.

Francis Ford Coppola is Back to Produce JEEPERS CREEPERS 3

As a fan of the Jeepers Creepers horror franchise, I couldn't be more excited to hear that Francis Ford Coppola is returning to produce the third installment of the film series. I really enjoyed those first two movies, but I never expected to see a third.

Variety reports that Jeepers Creepers 3 is currently in development and it expected to start production in Vancouver early next year. There are no details one what the story will entail, but I imagine the ancient creature known as "the Creeper" will be back to hunt down and kill another group of teenagers on a road trip. Who knows, though, maybe they'll switch it up and do something different this time around. The Creeper goes on his hunts for 23 days every 23rd spring for human body parts and organs.

Writer and director of the first two films, Victor Salva, will be bringing the new movie to life, and Jonathan Breck will be back to reprise his role as the Creeper, as will Brandon Smith, who plays Sergeant Davis Tubbs.

I always thought the Creeper was such a cool movie monster, and it's good to know that it will live on to kill for another 23 days.

After becoming tired of seeing bad news on the news every night, Jason Camebris decided to create something that would put a smile on people's faces. So he built the world's largest arcade machine, a 14-foot-tall record-breaking behemoth that's compatible with Wii, PlayStation, Xbox, and all PC games. Camebris wants players to be transported back to the feeling of being a kid and being too short to stand in front of an arcade machine, so he chose to make his 2.75 times larger than a regular one. Watch: BACK IN TIME Trailer Features New Interviews With BACK TO THE FUTURE Cast and Creators

We're dangerously close to experiencing peak Back to the Future this year with all of the coverage of the film's 30th anniversary. But that milestone has also been the impetus for some pretty cool remembrances of Robert Zemeckis' time travel classic, and perhaps none more impressive than a new documentary about the movie called Back in Time.

We saw an early trailer for the movie about six months ago, but now there's a new one out that features new interviews with the cast and creators of the movie. The documentary hits theaters and VOD on "Future Day," October 21st of this year, and it looks like a must-watch for any BTTF fan.

The documentary film Back in Time is, at its heart, a look at the very real impact the Back to the Future movies have had on our culture. What was once a little idea that spawned a tightly-focused documentary has grown into something truly amazing over two years of filming. Back in Time is a cinematic monument to the vastness of the trilogy’s fandom. In addition to the footage and interviews revolving around the time machine itself, the crew found that simply by delving into the impact of the trilogy an epic journey began to unfold before them. The crew captured countless hours of footage during filming. From Steven Spielberg to Robert Zemeckis and Bob Gale, to the Sheas and Hollers, and from James Tolkan and Lea Thompson to Christopher Lloyd and Michael J. Fox, Back in Time features interview after interview that simply must be seen.

Mint Condition Original PlayStation Unboxed to Celebrate 20th Anniversary

I remember unboxing my original Sony PlayStation. That thing was awesome, and it changed video games forever. When I was a teenager, I spent every extra moment I had playing that thing. These days, I spend more of my time writing about video games than actually playing them.

I can't believe that it's been 20 years since PlayStation was launched in the U.S. All of these anniversaries of things that I loved when I was growing up is really making me feel old.

Woo-hoo! The original PlayStation launched in North America 20 years ago today, on September 9th, 1995. To commemorate the big day, we thought it might be fun to crack open a sealed original PlayStation system.

Let’s take a trip to a time before dual analog sticks and force feedback, when game saves were stored on tiny plastic cards, when a double-speed CD-ROM drive and 2MB of RAM were your ticket to the biggest gaming experiences possible. Gather ‘round to see what greeted gamers on September 9th, 1995.

I can see why that they would want to unbox a mint condition original PlayStation to celebrate 20 years. But as a collector of things that I don't open the boxes for, it hurts to watch. That being said, it's still pretty cool to see, and now I want to play an original PlayStation.

Mary Elizabeth Winstead Will Star in New CBS Show BRAINDEAD

I'm a big fan of Mary Elizabeth Winstead since seeing her in Sky High, and though she's dabbled in big budget Hollywood movies (Final Destination 3, the Die Hard franchise, Scott Pilgrim vs. The World), it's been great watching her work her way through smaller indie films like Smashed and Faults in recent years and continue to push herself as an actress.

Now word has come out that she'll star in a new CBS horror comedy series called BrainDead that hails from Robert and Michelle King, the creators and showrunners of The Good Wife. It received a 13 episode straight-to-series order, and it'll premiere in the summer of 2016. The premise sounded incredibly boring to me until I read the last sentence:

Winstead will portray Laurel, the daughter of a Democratic political dynasty who left Washington, D.C. to become a documentary filmmaker, but is pulled back into the family business when her brother, the senate majority whip, needs her help running his senate office. Now a young, fresh-faced Hill staffer, Laurel discovers two things: The government has stopped working, and alien spawn have come to Earth and eaten the brains of a growing number of congressmen and Hill staffers.

Whoa. So the show is definitely going to go to some interesting places, but just how far will it go? This is a network show, after all, and while it's great that Winstead will be pulling in a network salary for her time here, I can't help but be a little wary about this. What do you all think?

Official GAME OF THRONES Pinball Machine Unveiled

HBO and Stern Pinball Inc. teamed up to create an official Game of Thrones pinball machine, and it has now been revealed. There are three different versions of the machine which include the Pro Model ($6,000), the Premium Model ($7,600), and the Khaleesi Limited Edition ($8,800). The two expensive models both have a second playfield and flippers in the upper left corner, while the lower end model doesn't.

Thanks to IGN, we have some photos of the machine you can check out below. They also conducted an interview with Jody Dankberg, Director of Licensing and Marketing, who talked about the machine. Here are a few details that were revealed:

In HBO's Game of Thrones pinball, you begin a game by picking one of Westeros's seven families vying for the Iron Throne: Stark, Lannister, Greyjoy, Baratheon, Martell, Tyrell and Targaryen. According to Dankberg, "the goal is really to either conquer all the other families or, at some point you can team up with other families to fight other families and whatnot. The ultimate goal of the game is to get to the Iron Throne."
  • There are video modes controlled by an extra button on the lock bar which Dankberg describes as "8-bit ... kind of a throwback thing ... almost early '80s retro-looking."
  • Lannisters will love the is a gold-collecting mechanic which allows you spend what you've amassed to achieve your goals. In-game economies are uncommon in pinball.
  • The animated dragon in the LE version has a kickback under it which blasts the ball back at the upper playfield flippers when hit. The animation differences for the dragon toy are described by Dankberg as follows: "The LE has a smoother motion and another motor that moves the dragon up and down. So, as you're battling the dragon, he's either going to flap his wings, raise up and down, [or] antagonize you."
  • A "Sword of Multiball" locks balls on the right ramp return. To let the balls out of the lock, a sword-like gate opens and chops a ball off like a Night's Watch deserter's noggin.
  • Game of Thrones pinball will not be available in digital form at launch, but Dankberg says they are working on digitizing Stern games from the past and present with FarSight Studios. The ultimate goal is to one day co-release a digital and physical version of a pinball machine.
  • Pinball classic Medieval Madness was recently reissued and was being assembled in the Stern factory while Game of Thrones was in production. Both games feature similar themes, and, according to Dankberg "a lot of guys who worked on Medieval Madness [reissue] are working on this game, too."

I think they need to send me one of these bad boys so that I can review it for the site! I'm completely serious.

Rumor: STAR WARS: THE FORCE AWAKENS Post-Credits Footage Will Tease ROGUE ONE

$
0
0

If the guys at Schmoes Know are to be believed, you'll want to stick around after the credits of J.J. Abrams' Star Wars: The Force Awakens. Rumor has it we might see a tease and a small bit of footage from Gareth Edwards' Rogue One: A Star Wars Story at that point, though no more details are currently available and they stress that, despite the trustworthiness of their source, this should be considered a rumor instead of fact at this stage in the game.

The interesting part of this, if it's true, is that we know Rogue One takes place before the events of A New Hope, as it involves the stealing of the plans for The Death Star. And since The Force Awakens takes place thirty years after Return of the Jedi, that means the film's post-credits footage would be teasing events that took place more than three decades beforehand. That's sort of strange in a world in which Marvel has popularized post-credits scenes and they generally look ahead in the cinematic universe's timeline, not backwards.

I doubt the validity of this story because I feel like Lucasfilm is going out of its way to keep the new trilogy separate from the "A Star Wars Story" side films, so teasing one of those instead of, say, Rian Johnson's Episode VIII (which is reportedly shooting this month) doesn't really make a lot of sense to me. We'll see how it all plays out when The Force Awakens arrives in theaters on December 18th.

Here's What Bugs Bunny, Daffy Duck, and the Rest of the Gang Look Like in Their Old Age

$

0

Long-running animated shows often make the decision to avoid having their characters age. The kids of South Park have been in fourth grade for fourteen seasons, and none of the characters on The Simpsons have aged since the show premiered in 1989. Decisions like these are often made for the logical reason of not having to alter the character designs slightly every year to make them older, but what if iconic cartoon characters aged at a normal rate? What might they look like today?

Artist Andrew Tarusov sought to answer that question by taking Bugs Bunny, Daffy Duck, Porky Pig, and the rest of the Looney Tunes gang (and some Disney characters, too) and aging them based on the year they were initially created. It results in strange, and sometimes sad, depictions of these classic characters who we know as being full of youth, and it's pretty disheartening to see a homeless Goofy offering to pleasure someone in exchange for food.

Has The SUICIDE SQUAD Plot and Main Villain Been Revealed?

$

Suicide Squad has completed shooting, and people seem to have really liked what they saw in the trailer because it performed better than Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice. Other than the trailer and brief synopsis that's been released, we really don't know much about the plot of the film. Also, with a story packed full of villains, it's been hard to figure out who the real villain in the movie is. Why has the government gathered together the Suicide Squad in the first place? Who are they going after?

SPOILER WARNING!

Heroic Hollywood has an unconfirmed rumor from an inside source that might shed some light on the plot of the film. The report says:

"The latest rumor is the main villain of the movie is The Enchantress, and she is in search of her brother who she wants to resurrect. The Suicide Squad is sent on a mission to stop her from destroying the world."

But then they also say, "Whether or not The Enchantress is out to resurrect her brother remains to be seen." So it seems her motivations are still in question. If you watch the Comic-Con trailer, you can see certain clues about this. Whenever you see the heroic shots of the Suicide Squad gathered together, aside from the first official photo that was released, Enchantress isn't around. Instead, we see her exploring underground caverns, and soaking in dirty water alone under a giant pentagram-looking thing. She's obviously up to no good.

It's possible that Enchantress could be the main villain, and I wouldn't be surprised if she was. Does it make sense to you that she could be the villain of the story?

Captivating New Trailer For The Lance Armstrong Film THE PROGRAM

$

We've got a new trailer for the upcoming Lance Armstrong film The Program, which was directed by Stephen Frears (The Queen, Philomena), and it stars Ben Foster in the lead the role. This looks like a fantastic and intense movie, and Foster went to great lengths to prepare for the role. In a recent interview with The Guardian, he revealed that he actually used performance-enhancing drugs to get into the role. He said:

"I don’t want to talk about the names of the drugs I took… Even discussing it feels tricky because it isn’t something I’d recommend to fellow actors. These are very serious chemicals and they affect your body in real ways. For my own investigation it was important for me privately to understand it. And they work."

He went on to talk about the effects that the drugs had on him:

"There’s a fallout. Doping affects your mind. It doesn’t make you feel high. There are behaviours when you’ve got those chemicals running through your body that serve you on the bike but which, when you’re not … I’ve only just recovered physically. I’m only now getting my levels back."

Damn. It's pretty hardcore that he actually put himself through that for the role. Hopefully, it all pays off for him and the movie. But now, if he's nominated for a Best Actor award he might get disqualified for using performance enhancing drugs!

Here's the synopsis for the film:

From Academy Award® nominated director Stephen Frears (The Queen, Philomena) and producers Working Title (The Theory Of Everything, Everest, Tinker Tailor Soldier Spy), comes the true story of the meteoric rise and fall of one of the most celebrated and controversial men in recent history, Lance Armstrong.
Based on the award winning book “Seven Deadly Sins” by David Walsh, and featuring a stellar cast including Ben Foster, Chris O’Dowd, Guillaume Canet (Tell No One) and Jesse Plemons (Breaking Bad), this tense and suspenseful thriller looks at how one of the greatest deceptions in the modern era was uncovered while Armstrong convinced the world he was a hero, winning the Tour de France seven times.

The movie will be released in theaters this fall.

Gremlins of the Galaxy is an animated parody short that combines the world of Guardians of the Galaxy and Gremlins. It comes to us from Mashed, and it basically offers us an adventurous origin story of how the Mogwai ended up in Mr. Wing's Chinese shop, and why Star-Lord's dad was on a mission to get to Earth. Here's the brief plot description:

Gizmo and Star-Lord’s dad team up for a prison escape that is even more epic than Guardians Of The Galaxy!

Olivia Cooke Scores Lead Role in Spielberg's READY PLAYER ONE

$

Looks like Steven Spielberg's adaptation of the video game-centric novel Ready Player One has found its female lead. After testing against Elle Fanning and Lola Kirke, actress Olivia Cooke — star of Me and Earl and The Dying Girl and Bates Motel — is in negotiations to join the cast. THR has the news, and they say that Spielberg was hoping to secure both the male and female lead at the same time, but he's still on the hunt for someone to play Wade Watts.

The story centers on Watts' hunt for an Easter Egg hidden in a virtual reality gaming world called Oasis and who encounters a female player named Art3mis. In Oasis, everyone operates as avatars, so at this point it's unclear whether Cooke will play Canadian blogger Sam (the one who controls Art3mis), if she'll only be playing Art3mis herself, or if she'll end up playing both roles. We're still not sure how Spielberg intends to handle the depiction of the virtual reality world.

It sounds like an awesome project, though, one that's rooted deeply in nostalgia for a lot of the 1980s pop culture that Spielberg himself helped to create, so it should be interesting to see how he handles that element of the story. Cooke was great in Me and Earl earlier this year, and it's not hard to see how she's on the shortlist for big movies like this. She was also in contention for a Star Wars film.

Sean Bean and Eva Green Reportedly Up For WONDER WOMAN Villains

$

Marvel has done a solid job of grabbing a lot of the most eligible movie stars on the planet, but DC is no slouch when it comes to pulling in big name talent of their own. Batman v Superman alone has Ben Affleck, Jeremy Irons, Jesse Eisenberg, Laurence Fishburne, Amy Adams, and more. And that's not even taking into account the people they've secured for Suicide Squad. And if this latest rumor from Heroic Hollywood is legit, Gal Gadot could face off against two more big names in her solo Wonder Woman film.

The new report says the studio is eyeing Sean Bean and Eva Green for the roles of Ares and Circe, respectively. In Greek mythology, Ares is the God of War, and Circe is a powerful sorceress, so in a sense, these are super boring choices because they're almost too perfect for those roles. Heroic Hollywood says these characters are considered Wonder Woman's biggest adversaries, but they also mention that they aren't sure if any offers have been made or meetings have taken place, so it's still pretty early on in the casting process.

Patty Jenkins will direct Wonder Woman from a script by Jason Fuchs (Pan), and the film arrives in theaters on June 23rd, 2017.

Patton Oswalt Joins Tom Hanks and Emma Watson in Tech Thriller THE CIRCLE

$

As if the cast for James Ponsoldt's The Circle wasn't great enough already, Deadline reports that Patton Oswalt has joined Tom Hanks, Emma Watson, John Boyega, and Karen Gillan in the upcoming tech thriller.

Here's the full synopsis:

When Mae Holland is hired to work for the Circle, the world’s most powerful internet company, she feels she’s been given the opportunity of a lifetime. The Circle, run out of a sprawling California campus, links users’ personal emails, social media, banking, and purchasing with their universal operating system, resulting in one online identity and a new age of civility and transparency.
As Mae tours the open-plan office spaces, the towering glass dining facilities, the cozy dorms for those who spend nights at work, she is thrilled with the company’s modernity and activity. There are parties that last through the night, there are famous musicians playing on the lawn, there are athletic activities and clubs and brunches, and even an aquarium of rare fish retrieved from the Marianas Trench by the CEO. Mae can’t believe her luck, her great fortune to work for the most influential company in the world — even as life beyond the campus grows distant, even as a strange encounter with a colleague leaves her shaken, even as her role at the Circle becomes increasingly public. What begins as the captivating story of one woman’s ambition and idealism soon becomes a heart-racing novel of suspense, raising questions about memory, history, privacy, democracy, and the limits of human knowledge.

Oswalt is set to play "Tom Stenton, the tight-lipped, Italian suit-wearing, tough-dealing throwback to a 1980s Wall Street trader who commands respect. He’s one of the Three Wise Men who are founders of the conglom, alongside characters played by Hanks and Boyega." This is obviously a mega-talented cast, and with Ponsoldt having directed affecting indies like Smashed, The Spectacular Now, and The End of The Tour, I'm eager to see what he can do with something that leans a bit more into genre territory.

Filming starts this month.

New Trailer and Clip For FEAR THE WALKING DEAD Shows Society Going to Hell

$
0
0

The first two episodes of Fear the Walking Dead were boring as hell and completely uninteresting. I also don’t care for the characters at all: they are poorly developed and I have no interest in their lives. This show was constantly being marketed as a family drama, but this is one hell of a depressing family that I don’t care about, so when the zombie apocalypse hits, I wouldn’t care if they all died.

It looks like their deaths are coming a little bit closer because we see society really start to fall apart in this promo trailer that teases the upcoming new episode, which is called “The Dog.” It’s set to air on September 13th.

Are any of you enjoying this series so far? I’m hoping it gets better, but again, it's really hard to care for any of these characters we’ve been introduced to.

Living in the same universe as The Walking Dead, Fear the Walking Dead is a gritty drama that explores the onset of the undead apocalypse through the lens of a fractured family. Set in a city where people come to escape, shield secrets, and bury their pasts, a mysterious outbreak threatens to disrupt what little stability high school guidance counselor Madison Clark (Kim Dickens) and English teacher Travis Manawa (Cliff Curtis) have managed to assemble. The everyday pressure of blending two families while dealing with resentful, escapist, and strung out children takes a back seat when society begins to break down. A forced evolution, a necessary survival of the fittest takes hold, and our dysfunctional family must either reinvent themselves or embrace their darker histories.

Hilarious E-mail Exchange Between a Comedian and E-Mail Scammer

London-based comedian James Veitch had a little fun with an e-mail scammer, and he shared the lengthy email exchange that they had. I get emails from scammers all the time trying to get money out of me, but of course, I have never replied to them. Reading this makes me wish I had, but the conversation is absolutely hilarious, and the way it all ends is absurdly wonderful.

Apparently he replies to spam emails and has even compiled a collection of conversations in a book called, “Dot Con: The Art of Scamming a Scammer.”

The conversation below had me laughing almost all the way through it. It’s comedy gold, and I just had to share it with you!
