Watch: Batman is a Complete Tool Who Perpetuates Crime in Gotham

0
0

The Dark Knight has no self-awareness whatsoever in this funny video from Dorkly.

Batman breaks the legs of a low-level street thug, and the two end up having an in-depth conversation about the societal and economic situation in Gotham City that led to the thug being there in the first place. But despite his convincing argument that the city would be better off if a certain local billionaire would invest his money in the city to change things, Batman's not willing to play along.

Eerie Full Trailer For AMERICAN HORROR STORY: HOTEL - "Hallways"

FX has released the first real promo trailer for American Horror Story: Hotel. It's called "Hallways," and as it races through the hallways of the haunted hotel, it gives us our first look at the main characters who will be introduced in the series. I'm a big fan of the style and tone of this series, and that extends to the marketing campaign as well.

The new season was inspired by a surveillance video from a Los Angeles-based hotel that surfaced two years ago. The footage showed a girl in an elevator acting very strangely. That was the last time she was seen alive. The story for the show is set in a hotel in downtown L.A., where they "deal with a lot of American horrors, [including] addiction.” You can learn more about the characters and plot details here.

This season stars Lady Gaga, Sarah Paulson, Kathy Bates, Angela Bassett, Wes Bentley, Matt Bomer, Chloë Sevigny, Denis O’Hare, Cheyenne Jackson, Evan Peters, and Finn Wittrock. American Horror Story: Hotel is set to premiere on October 7th.

New POINT BREAK Featurette Highlights The World's Fiercest Waves

Like it or not, a remake of Point Break is coming this Christmas. I'm a huge fan of Kathryn Bigelow's 1991 original, and I'm extremely apprehensive about this new movie, which is really leaning hard into the extreme sports angle. But there's still going to be surfing in this new film, and as a new featurette shows, things got extremely dangerous while the production was filming among the world's fiercest waves.

All of those stunts are admittedly impressive, but none of it matters if we don't care about the characters, and that's the element that remains to be seen with this remake.

Point Break stars Édgar Ramírez as Bodhi, Luke Bracey as Johnny Utah, and Ray Winstone, Teresa Palmer, and Delroy Lindo. Ericson Core directs a script written by Kurt Wimmer, and the film arrives in theaters on December 25th.

A young FBI agent, Johnny Utah (Luke Bracey), infiltrates a cunning team of thrill-seeking elite athletes – led by the charismatic Bodhi (Edgar Ramirez). The athletes are suspected of carrying out a spate of crimes in extremely unusual ways. Deep undercover, and with his life in imminent danger, Utah strives to prove they are the architects of this string of inconceivable crimes.

Elizabeth Olsen Talks About CAPTAIN AMERICA: CIVIL WAR, Says It's "Darker" Than ULTRON

If the rumors are to be believed, Elizabeth Olsen's Scarlet Witch is going to be on Cap's side in the upcoming Marvel film Captain America: Civil War(She's rumored to be on his team, but some recent promo art left her out of the equation completely.) This movie is shaping up to be one of the biggest films in the studio's existence, and according to Olsen, it could end up being "the best one" yet. ("Actor Says Movie She's Starring In Is Going To Be Good"...a real shocker, I know.)

In a new interview with Premiere, Olsen spoke about her experience working on set, her co-worker Daniel Brühl, and how the movie compares with Avengers: Age of Ultron:

“I think it’s going to be the best one, no, no, but for real, I am very excited to see it for myself. I only worked on set for five weeks, so I wasn’t there for the majority of it, but Daniel Brühl is an incredible actor and he’s playing the main villain in it. He’s incredible. It’s a movie about people as opposed to robots this time, so it’s darker and it’s allowed to be darker because it gets more in the mindset of humans rather than machines.”

The part about the movie diving into the mindset of humans instead of machines sounds good to me, because while I liked Ultron as a villain, that movie felt just a little too disconnected for me, and there was a hell of a lot going on. Let's hope the Russo Brothers find a way to streamline some of this story so these movies don't start becoming hopelessly out of control as we press on into Phase 3.

If you like, you can watch the interview yourselves in the player below. Captain America: Civil War arrives in theaters on May 6th, 2016.

New TV Spot For SPECTRE Packs an Explosive Punch

0
0

"What's going on James? They say you're finished."

Following the three posters that were released earlier today for Spectre, MGM and Sony Pictures has released a new and exciting TV spot for the film that is sure to get James Bond fans even more excited for the upcoming new film. Every trailer that I've seen for this movie has increasingly pumped me up to see the film. It looks like it has the makings of a great 007 adventure. This latest spot packs a powerful punch, as it's loaded with action. Spectre will be released in theaters on November 6th.

A cryptic message from the past sends James Bond on a rogue mission to Mexico City and eventually Rome, where he meets Lucia (Monica Bellucci), the beautiful and forbidden widow of an infamous criminal. Bond infiltrates a secret meeting and uncovers the existence of the sinister organisation known as SPECTRE.
Meanwhile back in London, Max Denbigh (Andrew Scott), the new head of the Centre for National Security, questions Bond’s actions and challenges the relevance of MI6, led by M (Ralph Fiennes). Bond covertly enlists Moneypenny (Naomie Harris) and Q (Ben Whishaw) to help him seek out Madeleine Swann (Léa Seydoux), the daughter of his old nemesis Mr White (Jesper Christensen), who may hold the clue to untangling the web of SPECTRE. As the daughter of an assassin, she understands Bond in a way most others cannot.
As Bond ventures towards the heart of SPECTRE, he learns of a chilling connection between himself and the enemy he seeks, played by Christoph Waltz.

Get A Load of This $28,500 STAR WARS Watch

Are you a Star Wars fan on the hunt for a watch, who also has an extra $30,000 in your bank account? This this article is specifically for you, and only for you!

A company called Devon has developed a customized, limited edition watch inspired by George Lucas' 1977 sci-fi classic, and it'll only cost you a cool $28,500. Each watch has 350 individual parts, four time belts, and 313 electrical contacts. Only five hundred of these bad boys are being produced, so if you're interested, I'd suggest pre-ordering one immediately — but just that alone will cost you a non-refundable $2,500.

Note the TIE Fighter wing design on the sides, as well as the Imperial crest in the crown. Nearly thirty grand for a watch is pretty damn expensive, but hey — at least it comes with free TIE Fighter cufflinks.

Here are some specs for you:

  • 316L stainless steel
  • True black diamond-like coating
  • Scratch-resistant polycarbonate lens with bulletproof durability
  • Numbered 1-500 on back plate
  • Four interwoven 2-micron thin nylon time belts

  • Multiple high-tech optical recognition cells
  • Temperature-compensated crystal
  • Onboard microprocessor
  • 313 electrical contacts
  • Lithium-polymer rechargeable cell
  • Powered for two weeks on one charge
  • Recharge wirelessly through inductive charging tower

MISSION: IMPOSSIBLE ROGUE NATION Star Rebecca Ferguson Might Play CAPTAIN MARVEL

0
0

Marvel Studios has seemingly gone out of its way to avoid releasing a film with a female lead so far, but the company announced that a Captain Marvel film is definitely on the way, so the streak will finally be broken. But who will play the title superhero? We were supposed to find out at the end of Avengers: Age of Ultron, but that decision was nixed in favor of waiting it out some more, and people like Emily Blunt and Ronda Rousey have been speculated about by fans in the days since.

But according to a scoop from Heroic Hollywood, it's Mission: Impossible Rogue Nation breakout star Rebecca Ferguson who's currently at the top of Marvel's shortlist to play the role. They don't know if an offer has been made yet, but the site speculates that the reason Ferguson dropped out of consideration for a smaller role in Gambit (which eventually went to Lea Seydoux) is that she could have been eyeing this part instead.

Ferguson was awesome as Ilsa Faust and easily held her own opposite Tom Cruise in Rogue Nation, and Marvel would be lucky to have her as Captain Marvel if that's something she's interested in. An argument could be made that she might be better off without locking herself into a huge contract with the Disney behemoth, but a quick glimpse of Scarlett Johansson or Mark Ruffalo's filmographies since they've been Avengers leads me to believe that Ferguson would still have time for some interesting side projects should this all work out.

What do you think about Ferguson as Captain Marvel?

See A Classic Chase Scene Frozen in Time With This Millennium Falcon Asteroid Field Coffee Table

Richard Riley at Tom Spina Designs crafted this cool coffee table featuring Han Solo's iconic Millennium Falcon frozen in a chase scene from The Empire Strikes Back. This was a custom job for a single client, but I'm guessing they'd be willing to make another one for the right price. Check out some pics below, and keep an eye out for the TIE Fighter hot on the Falcon's tail:

When The Empire Strikes Back debuted in 1980, fans like us marveled at the movie magic created in the asteroid chase scene.
When a client asked if we could create a custom themed coffee table based on Han Solo's beloved Millennium Falcon, we decided to make it something special, and bring the classic scene to life.
One of our artists, Richard Riley, took the licensed Hasbro Millennium Falcon toy and a Tie Fighter model kit, gave them movie style paint work and then built them this amazing diorama, made to be topped with a sheet of oval glass to create a custom piece of furniture perfect for this Star Wars fan's home theater!
The result is 60" wide, 36" deep and approximately 20" tall.

X-MEN: APOCALYPSE - New Leaked Image of Apocalypse Looks a lot Better

0
0

A couple of images from Bryan Singer's X-Men: Apocalypse have hit the internet. It looks like they come from a post-production editing bay being used to work on the movie, but they didn't come from Singer. The were posted by an X-Men news Twitter feed

One of the images offers us a much better look at Oscar Isaac as Apocalypse. He actually looks a lot more like the villain in this image, so that's encouraging. Maybe those original photos we saw of the character weren't the completed version of what we will see in the movie.

I also included a couple of other photos below. One shows Cyclops, Jean Grey, and Nightcrawler. Unfortunately, they are wearing black leather-looking suits. They certainly don't show us the classic looking costumes that Singer previously teased. The other one features Olivia Munn and our best look yet at Ben Hardy as Archangel.

Look over the photos and let us know if you like what you're seeing! X-Men: Apocalypse is set to be released on May 27th, 2016.

The Joker Can Crawl Out of Your Garden and Terrify Neighborhood Kids

For those of you who are looking to grace your beautiful flower garden with a terrifying vision of the Joker crawling out of it, you’re in luck! ThinkGeek is selling this Joker Ground Breaker Lawn Ornament, and it’s based on the Death of the Family comic story arc. This would be perfect for Halloween, and if you have 90 extra bucks laying around, you should get yourself one.

So there was no Joker for quite a while, and then there was a LOT of Joker. He was all over the place when the "A Death in the Family" story arc began.
Just like this yard decoration. There is (presumably) no Joker in your garden currently. But if you get this there could suddenly be a LOT of Joker. From shoulders up, this DC The Joker Ground Breaker "rises" out of your flower garden to terrify your trick or treaters. It'd be awesome to put him out with a motion sensitive spotlight, so he suddenly appears when they walk by. Imagine the faces they'll make! (Click and drag your mouse across the white space below for the spoiler joke.)

I’m always up for buying stuff that will scare the shit out of the little kids in my neighborhood.

KING KONG VS. GODZILLA Is Being Planned as SKULL ISLAND Moves to Warner Bros.

king-kong-vs-godzilla-is-being-planned-as-skull-island-moves-to-warner-bros

Legendary Pictures is moving Kong: Skull Island from Universal Pictures to Warner Bros., and for very good reason. According to Deadline, the move positions them to eventually make a King Kong Vs. Godzilla movie! They are making the move to WB so that they can keep the giant fighting beasts under the same distributor. That is where the Toho is based, and they are the rights holders of Godzilla.

Skull Island is scheduled to be released on March 10th, 2017, then we will get a Godzilla sequel from director Gareth Edwards on June 8th, 2018. After that, the two giant monsters will come face to face and battle it out on the big screen in an untitled King Kong vs. Godzilla feature film!

The site explains, “It is unclear at the moment what Universal’s position will be, but I heard the studio move is being done because it is just easier to have all the pieces under one roof, something that Marvel Studios has done with superheroes like The Hulk. King Kong is in the public domain, while Legendary got the Godzilla rights from Toho.”

I’m overwhelmed with excitement to hear that this is happening! I was really hoping to see King Kong and Godzilla kick each other's asses again on the big screen, and it’s great to see Legendary giving the fans what they want to see.

As of right now, Kong: Skull Island is being directed by Jordan Vogt-Roberts, and it stars Brie Larson, Tom Hiddleston, and Corey Hawkins. Samuel L. Jackson is in talks to star, along with Tom Wilkinson, who was apparently offered a big role. John C. Reilly is also in line to join the production.

It makes me wonder if this has anything to do with the Pacific Rim sequel delay since that production is also tied to Legendary Pictures.

BACK TO THE FUTURE Re-Cut with the F-Word Takes it to an R-Rated Level

Have you ever wondered what Back to the Future might have been like as an R-rated movie? Well, Andrew Robertson cut together a video that shows us what the movie might have been like if it was riddled with the F-word throughout the film. The video is a bit choppy, but it's still pretty damn funny. My favorite part is when George comes to the car to find Biff with Lorraine instead of Marty. That's the reaction he really would have had!

"Look out for the universe for me, I put a lot of work into it."

BBC One has released a nearly two minute long prologue for the ninth season of Doctor Who. This comes from the first episode of the upcoming season, which is titled "The Magician's Apprentice." In it we will see the Doctor forced to team up with Missy, who is played by Michelle GomezDoctor Who returns September 19th. This brief clip is a solid looking start to what could be a great season. At least that's what I'm hoping for!

Here are the details of the twelve episodes that the season will contain:

Joss Whedon Reveals ANGEL Easter Egg in AVENGERS: AGE OF ULTRON

joss-whedon-reveals-angel-easter-egg-in-avengers-age-of-ultron

Avengers: Age of Ultron was packed full of all kinds of Easter eggs for fans to look out for, but there’s one that everyone seemed to miss until it was pointed out by Joss Whedon in the director’s commentary for the film.

The Easter egg is a nod to Whedon’s Buffy the Vampire Slayer spin-off series Angel. It was pointed out by Screen Crush, and it’s in the sequence where Thor is having a vision of Asgard. If you remember, there was a lot of crazy trippy imagery. It included three creepy looking figures wearing wolf, ram, and hart/stag masks. The site explains:

"On Angel, The Wolf, The Ram and The Hart were an ancient trio of true demons who, in present day Earth, are 'senior partners' at the Los Angeles law firm Wolfram & Hart. Through this organization, they enact their evil will, representing murderers and other demonic individuals."

I’ve gotta say, that’s a pretty clever inclusion that I don’t think I ever would have noticed. I’m happy that Whedon made sure to point it out to everyone!

McG Set to Direct a Horror/Comedy Called THE BABYSITTER

0
0

McG is one of those filmmakers who does decent stuff with TV, but whose movies just aren’t that good at all. That’s not going to stop him from making them, though! He’s set to direct a horror/comedy called The Babysitter, which is based on a spec script from Brian Duffield. This spec was on the Black List of best unproduced screenplays. In fact, it was ranked #4 on that list.

According to Variety, the film follows “a twelve-year-old boy and his babysitter on a night when things take an unexpected turn for the worst.” That’s really not much to go off of, as it’s an extremely vague description. Anything could happen! It’s a scenario that any improv group could run wild with.

Apparently McG was going to produce the movie at first, but he decided to direct it so that he could “realize his vision for the script.” That’s a shame. I can’t help be think that anyone else could do a better job with it. Except Brett Ratner.

The last movie that McG directed was Kevin Costner’s 3 Days to Kill. Since then, he’s just attached himself to a few projects as a producer.

Why Zack Snyder Is Worse Than Michael Bay

0
0
why-zack-snyder-is-worse-than-michael-bay

Hello all. If you’re reading this article, then you know who Michael Bay and Zack Snyder are, or you just want to hear me rant. This is not just a title to get you to read or get you mad. This is my opinion on directors, and what I like or dislike about certain ones. So, if you’re a huge Zack Snyder fan or Michael Bay fan (do they exist?), beware. I’ll be slamming both and saying good things about both. I try to be fair, but I will exaggerate. Now, on with the article.

Recently, Snyder had some words about Marvel movies. Words to the effect of Ant-Man is the "Flavor of the Week." Now, while I don’t totally disagree with Mr. Snyder that many movies, including Marvel movies, can reuse similar story elements, the thought that he makes it sound like his movies are going to be so much better made me kinda irked. Do I think that movies have become a bit cookie cutter? That we do not have enough diversity in heroes? Yes and yes. But Snyder is no better, and to use Ant-Man as your example of something that is just another Marvel movie? No. Screw you dude. Ant-Man made some bold choices, and although it did lack certain qualities of specific branding that Edgar Wright would have brought, there were still plenty of Edgar Wright moments, and he wasn’t even the director. I had no faith in Peyton Reed going into it, but he made a movie that struck a chord in your heart.

You all didn’t come to read about how I liked Ant-Man and disagree with Snyder. You came here to read why Snyder is somehow worse than Bay. Well, to start, I’m gonna say something ridiculously outlandish. Michael Bay isn’t that bad of a director. Yes, he’s the go-to for bad directors when you want to slam someone, but really, besides lots of racist things in movies, bad acting, terrible scripts, bad casting, and wow… I just realized that makes him sound like a terrible director. But then again, how many of his terrible movies are hits? They suck, but people watch them! We knew the new Transformers movies were going to be bad. The nostalgia factor had lost its charm by the third movie, but we still went to see the new one, because… reasons. Bay has made entertaining movies, and they've been successful. He is rolling in money. He can do what he wants, and studio executives and actors seem to trust him. Because he makes good movies? No. Because he can make movies that sell. It's almost like a game to him now. I honestly wonder if someone just dares him to make horrible decisions in movies and he does it just to prove he can still make a successful movie with all those horrible decisions. Armageddon, as cheesy as it was, was entertaining. Thought-provoking, world-changing, and moving? Not really, but fun as hell. Even with the Transformers movies, you can get sucked into watching and end up going, why didn’t I leave in the middle?  And what’s more, I think he knows it. I think he knows his movies aren’t great, and he just doesn’t care, because he found out how to make money. Who needs a legacy when you can hire supermodels to do whatever you want them to?

Now look at Snyder. Freakin' Zack Snyder. I’m trying to not lose it because the more I think about it, the more upset I get that he’s is as successful as he is. His first big movie was Dawn of the Dead, a zombie remake that was ok. It had Lindy Booth in it, and I had a huge crush on her (still do), so it was worth my time. But it wasn’t anything special. The greatest part was the writing, and that was done by James Gunn and George Romero, two people who are great. Then he did 300, and people loved it. It was good. It stole the whole Sin City comic book movie look, which was new at the time so people loved it. But did it sustain? Not really. Are people still talking about it? Only if some buff uncreative douche is looking for a Halloween costume that can show off his “sweet pecs.” Since 300, he became the comic book movie guy. He’s the one you turn to make cool comic book movies, except for the fact that after 300 he couldn’t make a decent comic book movie. Watchmen bombed, Suckerpunch bombed harder, and Man of Steel? Well, let's just say that while Man of Steel didn’t completely bomb, it certainly isn't on many people’s favorite superhero movie list. Now he’s working on the new Batman movie. Batman 5: Superman Dawn of Justice or whatever (Yes, I know it's really titled Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice). A continuation to Schumacher’s Batman movies of the '90s. And he think’s he’s the next Steven Spielberg or J.J. Abrams.

Snyder reminds me of the kid in high school who isn’t cool, but he did a cool thing so the cool kids let him hang out with them, but nobody really likes him, including the kids who are cool without having to hang with the cool kids. So because Snyder isn’t as cool as he thinks, he has to insult others and prove himself. In 2014, Snyder said he saved Watchmen from Terry Gilliam ruining the movie. If your definition of saving is smothering it under a pillow, then sure. Terry Gilliam is a genius and auteur who has made films that will survive for decades. Where does Snyder get off thinking he’s better than him?

That brings me to my main point. The point you have all been waiting/scrolling down to read.  Michael Bay acts like a douche, makes terrible douche movies, and does douche things, but he knows he’s not an Oscar winner. He’s a commercial maker, and he takes pride in what he is without resorting to calling other big blockbusters crap. At least in public. Snyder calls others out and acts like he’s hot shit, and in a way he is. A steaming pile of hot shit, that is. His movies are flashy and gimmicky but empty and broke. He’s the M. Night Shyamalan of action flicks. If the new Batman movie is good, he’ll prove me wrong and I’ll enjoy it and still think he’s a douche, but if it ends up tanking as badly as I think it will, I think we will be seeing a lot less of Snyder. But if you’re a good director, you don’t need to bring others down to try to prove you’re the best in the media. You let your work prove what you got. So, Zack, if you read GeekTyrant, just take it down a couple notches. Don’t worry about telling everyone how much better your movie is going to be and just make a good movie. Let us decide what's good.

First Photo of Hawkgirl and Hawkman in DC’s LEGENDS OF TOMORROW

first-photo-of-hawkgirl-and-hawkman-in-dcs-legends-of-tomorrow

Here is your first look at Ciara Renee as Hawkgirl, a.k.a. Kendra Saunders, and Falk Hentschel Hawkman, a.k.a. Carter Hall. Hall is an Egyptian Prince who reincarnates throughout time along with his soulmate, who happens to be Saunders. The heroes access their powers through the Hawk God, Horus, which transforms them into the Hawk warriors. The two characters have a cool look to them that perfectly fits with the rest of the DC TV universe.

When talking about the show with Variety, executive producer Greg Berlanti compared it to westerns and classic heist movies saying,

“For us, first and foremost, with all [our shows], it’s about ‘how is it its own thing?’ Because we don’t just want to do it to do it. I compare the shows to old Westerns; we have a lot of lone gunmen and sheriffs in town, and this one is very much an ode to things like ‘The Magnificent Seven’ or those great heist pics like ‘Ocean’s Eleven’ where you get all of those colors at the same time, and a true ensemble, and that was the fun of it… You want that Rat Pack-y kind of vibe of all this crew hanging out, as disparate and as different as they are.”

The series also stars The Flash's Wentworth Miller (Leonard Snart/Captain Cold), Dominic Purcell (Mick Rory/Heat Wave) and Victor Garber (Dr. Martin Stein/one-half of Firestorm). Also signed on are Arrow's Brandon Routh as Ray Palmer/The Atom and Franz Drameh as Jay Jackson.

The series is set to premiere sometime in January of 2016. What do you think about the designs of these two characters?

He plans on doing all of the playable characters from the game, but so far, his series includes Cloud, Vincent, Aerith, Cid, and Tifa. This is a fun art project, and I dig the concept and style.

DC Entertainment Announces Harley's Little Black Book

Harley Quinn is sort of, well, a bit crazy. She just so happens to be all kinds of adorable as well, so fans love her, myself included. DC knows this and so is launching a new team up book featuring Harley as the star, aptly titled Harley’s Little Black Book. The series will be bi-monthly, and will officially launch on December 2nd with fan favorite creators  Amanda Conner and Jimmy Palmiotti.

The first story will feature her teaming up with none other than Wonder Woman, which should guarantee a fun read. I love the idea of team up books, but the only one I've ever stuck with on a semi regular basis was Spider-Man, and that was just because I really liked Spider-Man at the time. Harley has such a fun personality that just seeing her team up with the rest of the DCU on little misadventures sounds like a blast. Her interacting with characters like The Question, Constantine, Huntress (just because), and of course, Booster Gold would all be worthwhile stories I'd like to see, especially with this creative team in tow.

Alongside the book itself, DC Entertainment is also making Harley's Little Black Book the variant theme for December, and will feature Harley inspired covers for 10 of their top titles. The artist list for these is a who’s who, including names like Bruce Timm (Harley Quinn #23), Darwyn Cooke (Green Lantern #47), Joe Madureira (Justice League of America), and Jim Lee (Justice League #47).

You can check the full list below, and let us know what team-ups you would like to see!
