I’ve got an animated short film that you have to check out today called "MeatBrains." It’s a sci-fi thriller set in space that follows two characters named Wyn and 3arl, a bounty hunter and her robot, as they take on a crime boss who wants a nuclear reactor that the robot has inside of him. It’s an awesomely entertaining film, action-packed, and wonderfully animated. I really enjoyed the style and tone of the short.

This was a graduation project created by a team that consists of Florien Jouy, Mathieu Fabre, Merwan Tebib, Quentin Sanchez, Romeo Boury, and Thomas Delobre.

I think you‘re going to get a kick out of this thing, so enjoy!

Terminator Genisys is going to either be an awesome movie praised by fans, or a complete disaster that fans are going to crap all over. I don’t think there’s going to be a lot of middle ground on this one. I’m hoping that it turns out to be a great film, though.

I’ve liked what I’ve seen from the movie so far; it all comes down to how the story plays out. The concept for the film is intriguing, but there are so many way that it could go very wrong. We’ll find out when it released on July 1st. Here are three new TV spots for the film for you to watch!

The GARBAGE PAIL KIDS Revisited as Adults 30 Years Later in Fan Art

If you grew up in the late '80s, then I'm sure you're familiar with the disturbingly awesome Garbage Pail Kids trading cards/stickers. I had a huge collection of these things at one point that filled up two shoeboxes. I'm sad to say that my mom ended up throwing them away sometime during my high school years.

I was a huge fan of these things because I thought they were hilarious. They were created as a Cabbage Patch Kids parody with a grotesquely dark twist.  Each card featured a Garbage Pail Kid character, and they had some kind of jacked-up deformity or were portrayed being killed off in some absurd way.

As a tribute to the series, Bruton Stroube Studios created a series of art that revisits some of these Garbage Pail Kids characters as adults thirty years later. The results are fantastically funny!

James Gunn Says GUARDIANS OF THE GALAXY 2 Will Have Fewer Characters

James Gunn has completed the first draft of the script for Guardians of the Galaxy 2. During a recent Q&A he did via a Periscope stream on Twitter, he talked about the film being more personal and revealed that this next chapter of the story will have fewer characters.

As we saw, Avengers: Age of Ultron included a ton of new characters, and we're going to see even more characters in films such as Captain America: Civil War and Avengers: Infinity War. The studio seems to enjoy throwing lots of characters into these ensemble superhero movies, but it sounds like Gunn is going to do the complete opposite with the sequel to Guardians of the Galaxy. He explains:

"People ask for so many characters to be in Guardians of the Galaxy 2 and they ask for so many actors who they want to be in Guardians of the Galaxy 2, but we actually have less characters in Guardians of the Galaxy 2 than we have in Guardians of the Galaxy 1 because everything is just getting too sprawling and too crazy for me in these superhero comic book movies. There’s just too many characters so you can’t concentrate on one and really get to know that character, and I really want to get to know the characters that we know better."

I like that he is planning on taking the film in this direction. It seems like it will be more personal, and I'm excited to get to know these characters in the story a little more. I remember when Joss Whedon was talking about making Age of Ultron a smaller movie than the one the preceded while he was in the early stages of developing it. The movie still ended up being huge, though.

Guardians of the Galaxy 2 is easily my most anticipated movie of Marvel's third phase, and I have no doubt that Gunn is going to deliver a sequel that will blow away fans.

Uwe Boll Tells Hollywood and Fans to "F–k Yourself" in Video Rant

Director Uwe Boll posted a couple videos on YouTube over the weekend slamming Hollywood and fans after his film project Rampage 3 is nowhere near reaching its crowdfunding goal on Kickstarter with three days left.

He's obviously very butt-hurt that he doesn't have a fanbase to support his movies, and in the videos he bashes everything from Kickstarter to Marvel to Harry Potter to certain A-list actors. The videos are brief, blunt, harsh, but very entertaining. He says, “Basically, my message is fuck yourself."

Boll is know for developing several shitty films over the years such as House of the Dead, Bloodrayne, Far Cry, In the Name of the King: A Dungeon Siege Tale, and several others. I'm not sure how he has been able to keep making utterly awful films like this.

He goes on to say, "I have enough money to play golf until I'm dead." Maybe he should do that instead of wasting money on bad movies.

Dwayne Johnson Wants to Include John Carpenter in BIG TROUBLE IN LITTLE CHINA Remake

When word came out last week that Dwayne "The Rock" Johnson was going to star in a remake of Big Trouble in Little China, the internet freaked out. John Carpenter, who directed the iconic original film, shared his thoughts about the remake and mentioned that he wasn't involved with it, but it seems like Johnson wants to change that.

In an interview with Entertainment Weekly, The Rock spoke about the fan reaction to the news of the remake, and revealed that he wants to bring Carpenter on board:

“I loved reading the reactions from the fans, that they were so polarized – I’m the same way. My response is: know that I come to the project with nothing but love and respect for the original, which is why we want to bring on John Carpenter.”
“I loved the original when I was younger and I loved the main character – all the characters. It felt like if we surrounded ourselves with the right group of people, the right writers who loved the movie too and wanted to honor it, bring on John Carpenter in some capacity … If we did that, then we have a shot at hopefully making something good.”

Johnson apparently even hinted that they may try to get original star Kurt Russell involved in some fashion as well, though the EW piece doesn't offer any specific quotes in that regard. And finally, he acknowledges that if the script straight-up sucks, they'll just abandon the project altogether:

“Let’s see what feels good, what we can come up with and then go from there. And as we write it, if the whole thing starts to stink up, then we thank everybody for their efforts and accept this just couldn’t make it.”

What do you think about Johnson's comments? Would you be more interested in this remake if Carpenter was involved?

A month ago we posted the first part of a video series by Mr. Sunday Movies which offered us some details on a Batman vs. Superman movie that was being developed by Warner Bros. back in 2002. This was long before director Zack Snyder was involved, and it would have been a much different take on the story and characters than what we're going to see in the upcoming Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice. The second part of the video series has been released, and it provides even more cool details on the story, including how the fight between Batman and Superman would have played out.

James Cameron Raves About TERMINATOR GENISYS in New Featurette

At this point, I'm not expecting much from Terminator Genisys. I've been burned too many times by the Terminator franchise to allow myself to get too excited going in, and I still have the bad taste of Salvation in my mouth. (In one of our podcast episodes, the guys and I offered some of our thoughts and fears about the movie.)

But the approval of James Cameron, the creator of the first two classic movies in this series, goes a long way toward sweeping away some of my worries. Cameron isn't associated with this movie, so he has no real reason to appear in this new featurette (via Yahoo) and praise the film unless he genuinely liked the movie. (You didn't see him out there pimping T3 or Salvation, did you?) If he likes it, then maybe fans don't have anything to worry about. He even goes as far as to say that he considers this the third movie in the franchise, basically crapping all over the third and fourth films by not even acknowledging their existence. Listen to his comments below (beware of spoilers for those of you who've been avoiding the trailers), and let us know if they influence your opinion about the film. Terminator Genisys arrives on July 1st.

Pizza Hut Just Made A Pizza Box That Doubles As A Movie Projector

I realize that this is little more than a ploy for attention from Pizza Hut, but with an idea this ridiculous, I'll go ahead and give them what they want. The restaurant has just created a new pizza box that doubles as a movie projector — with a little help from you and your smart phone. Here's how it works: remove the perforated circle in the side of the box, attach the provided lens (which doubles as a pizza table), scan a QR code, and place your phone inside the box pointing at the lens. Since the image is being blown up from a projection from your phone, the quality is almost certainly going to be total crap, so I can't imagine anyone actually setting out to do this for anything other than sheer curiosity's sake – especially considering how affordable real projectors are becoming and the proliferation of high quality flat-screen TVs.

As of right now, the "Blockbuster Box" is only being rolled out in Hong Kong. Take a look at the video below to see it in action:

Fans of Star Wars Rebels only have a couple more weeks to wait until the highly anticipated second season premieres. To help get you excited for the return of the series, we have a new trailer for you to watch that teases the one-hour first episode, "The Siege of Lothal."

It seems like Darth Vader is going to have a very big presence this next season, which is so cool! The legendary Sith Lord is commanded by the Emperor to hunt down the Rebel heroes of the story.

To watch the previously released much longer trailer for Season 2 again, click here. I loved the first season of this show, and it looks like this next season is going to be even better. I'm especially curious to see how much more it will tie in to the existing films of the saga.

The second season of Star Wars Rebels premieres on Disney XD at 9pm on June 20th.

Here's What GTA V in Real Life Los Angeles Looks Like

The people at Rockstar Games modeled Grand Theft Auto V's Los Santos on the real city of Los Angeles, and aside from a few tweaks here and there, the game's representation of the city is pretty damn accurate. I've seen all sorts of GTA-related videos since the modders got a hold of the PC version, but this one is different. CorridorDigital made a meta new video that recreates GTA V in real life L.A., and the results are shockingly accurate. It's a testament to how detailed the team at Rockstar was that this feels so much like the game. And major props to these filmmakers for managing to create that third person camera that's so omnipresent in video games and making it feel natural, even when stealing cars.

Joseph Gordon-Levitt Discusses SANDMAN and Its "Complicated Adaptation"

joseph-gordon-levitt-discusses-sandman-and-its-complicated-adaptation

Over the past several months, Joseph Gordon-Levitt has been developing a big screen adaptation of the comic book Sandman with writer David Goyer and creator Neil Gaiman. This is a film project that fans have been looking forward to for years, and this team of talent currently working on it is the best chance we have of seeing it brought to life. In a recent interview with MTV, Gordon-Levitt talked about how the development process and why it's a complicated adaptation:

“It’s really good, man. It’s slow but steady. It’s a really complicated adaptation because those comics, they’re brilliant. But they’re not written as a whole. It’s not like ‘Watchmen,’ which is a graphic novel that has a beginning, middle, and end. ‘Sandman’ was written over the course of whatever — I forget exactly, six or seven years. One at a time. One little 20-page issue at a time. And to try to take that and make it into something that’s a feature film — a movie that has a beginning, middle, and end — is complicated. I’m feeling really good about it, but it is a process, so please be patient.

Gordon-Levitt, who could potentially star in and direct the movie, went on to talk about how this story is different from some of the other big comic book films that we've been seeing made:

“Big spectacular action movies are generally about crime fighters fighting crime and blowing sh-t up. This has nothing to do with that and it was actually one of the things that Neil Gaiman said to me, he said ‘Don’t have him punch anybody.’ Because he never does. If you read the comics, Morpheus doesn’t punch anybody. That’s not what he does. It’s going to be like a grand spectacular action film, but that relies on none of those same old ordinary cliches. So, that’s why it’s taking a lot time to write, but it’s going to be really good.”

It sounds to me like Gordon-Levitt is on the right track, and that he's going to give fans the film adaptation that the comic deserves.

The Sandman comic series was originally created by Joe Simon and Jack Kirby. But it wasn't until Neil Gaiman came along and wrote the series that it really became popular. The 75+ issue comic arc ran from January of 1989 to March of 1996. The studio has been trying to get a movie made since as far back as 1996.

The story focuses on Morpheus, the Lord of the Dreaming, a deity who personifies dreams. Gaiman also introduced the Endless, a group of powerful brothers and sisters named Destiny, Death, Destruction, Despair, Desire, and Delirium (as well as Dream).

You can watch the full interview with the actor below.

Newly-Discovered Draft of STAR WARS Script Confirms Han Shot First

$

The concept of Han Solo shooting Greedo in the cantina in Star Wars is one of the most contentious elements of the entire franchise. George Lucas has altered history and changed the scene so Greedo shoots first in every available version of the film, despite the fact that anyone who actually saw the original theatrical release can tell you otherwise. Here's Lucas talking about it from 2012:

The controversy over who shot first, Greedo or Han Solo, in Episode IV, what I did was try to clean up the confusion, but obviously it upset people because they wanted Solo [who seemed to be the one who shot first in the original] to be a cold-blooded killer, but he actually isn’t. It had been done in all close-ups and it was confusing about who did what to whom. I put a little wider shot in there that made it clear that Greedo is the one who shot first, but everyone wanted to think that Han shot first, because they wanted to think that he actually just gunned him down.

Whatever, man. We all know how it happened originally. That moment is an essential part of Solo's roguish character, and hearing all of this nonsense from Lucas, maybe some fans are thinking that he meant for Greedo to fire first, but just filmed the sequence poorly or confusingly the first time around. Now there's reportedly proof that this isn't the case, and that Han was intended to shoot first from the very beginning.

A pre-filming draft of the script, dated March 15th, 1976 (a year before the film's debut), was just discovered in the University of New Brunswick's library by librarian Kristian Brown. In the script, Luke is still referred to as Luke Starkiller and the title is Saga I, but most importantly, Brown says that Han pulled the trigger first.

"I'll tell you one thing, right now. Based on the script, I can tell you 100 per cent, Han shot first."

So what do you think? Does this settle the controversy once and for all?

14 Fun Facts About THE GOONIES

14-fun-facts-about-the-goonies

Yesterday marked the 30th anniversary of the classic 1985 Richard Donner and Steven Spielberg film The Goonies. This movie is loved by so many people, both young and old. No matter how many times I’ve seen it, I still enjoy the hell out of it. It always makes me laugh. In celebration of it being around for thirty years, I put together a fun facts list with some information about the film you may or may not already know.

A lot of the information that you read here comes from Imdb, but you can find even more information on the film here. I’ve also included several videos from the film as well. Enjoy a lot of the Goonies greatness that the internet has to offer!

  • There was a Goonies Oath that was written for the film, but cut out. This is that oath: "I will never betray my goon dock friends / We will stick together until the whole world ends / Through heaven and hell, and nuclear war / Good pals like us, will stick like tar / In the city, or the country, or the forest, or the boonies / I am proudly declared a fellow Goony."
  • The actor who played Chunk, Jeff Cohen, got the chicken pox after he landed the role in the film. He showed up to the set anyway, because he was afraid that they would have replaced him.
  • The cast was not allowed to see the fully built pirate ship before they were shooting on it. Donner wanted to catch the genuine reactions at the size and scope of it on film. So the first time they saw it was when they shot out of the waterslides into the huge soundstage where they ship was set up in a large pool of water.
  • The late Corey Haim auditioned for the role of Mouth, which eventually went to Corey Feldman. The two actors had not yet met at the time, but they were later cast together in The Lost Boys (1987) and became best friends, starring in 6 more movies together.
  • Apparently One-Eyed Willy's skull was an actual human skull. Rumor has it the cast list for the film listed the skeleton of One-Eyed Willy was a man called Raul Woo, who died from lead poisoning.
  • The story that Chunk tells about throwing up off a movie theater balcony was inspired by a real-life prank Spielberg pulled when he was growing up as a kid.
  • In the storybook of the film, One-Eyed Willy's backstory is revealed. It was told to Chunk by Francis Fratelli, when the Fratellis take the doubloon from him. One-Eyed Willy’s real name is William B. Pordobel, and he was a court jester, “before becoming an ingenious pirate, when he was banished from five Spanish courts for his practical jokes and formed a band of pirates, whom marauded hundreds of the king's ships and accumulated a treasure worth millions. But, Willy's ship ‘Inferno’ was attacked by three of the King's ships and Willy steered his ship into a hidden underground cavern and was sealed within by the canon fire from the British. Willy and his men had spent a couple of years trying to repair the ship and had built underground caves with weird booby traps to protect the treasure and one of Willy's men escaped to tell Willy's story, which became a legend.”
  • When NBC first broadcast the film on TV, they added a scene of Chunk and Sloth following the trail of the other Goonies, which wasn’t in the film. But they ended up cutting out 20 minutes of the film. You can watch that scene below:
  • Sean Astin said he was allowed to keep the treasure map used in the film when shooting was complete. Several years later, his mom, Patty Duke, came across it and thought it was just trash, so she threw it away. Nooooooooooo!
  • Spielberg’s Gremlins was referenced in the film when the sheriff was talking to Chunk about making up stories of little monsters that multiply with water. Here’s a little fan film that was created around that scene:
  • Donner unintentionally started giggling when they filmed the scene where Chunk starts crying after the ice cream spoon is taken from him. If you listen carefully, you can hear the director giggling off-screen.
  • Right before the cooler breaks in the basement, Mikey calls Brand "Josh." The actor who played Brand in the film was Josh Brolin.
  • According to international maritime salvage law, the rights to a salvage vessel and its contents go to the person or persons who first successfully bring something off the vessel in question. Since Mikey brought the jewels off the ship, the Inferno and everything on it belongs to him.
  • There was a scene shot with the pirate ship that featured an octopus trapping some of the Goonies underwater. It didn’t make the final cut of the film, but you can watch it below:

Below you’ll find the original trailer for the film, the music video that was shot with Cindy Lauper, and a video featuring some more deleted scenes and outtakes.

CUT THE ROPE Game Getting A Movie Adaptation

With an Angry Birds movie on the way, I guess it shouldn't be a surprise that other mobile games are going to be making their way to the big screen soon. The latest project to attempt the jump to the big screen is based on Cut The Rope, the game which requires players to cut ropes and direct pieces of candy into the mouth of a cute creature named Om Nom.

Here's the synopsis of the film, which has the working title of Om Nom:

Om Nom tells the story of 13-year old Evan, a boy whose impulsiveness leads him to open a secret package containing a living scientific experiment – with mischievous intentions! Known only as Om Nom, this adorable creature has an insatiable appetite for everything sugary. Now free to roam, Om Nom begins to wreak havoc upon this formerly quiet town, and Evan, with his little sister Jordan in tow, must follow him on an epic adventure while avoiding a host of government agents, shady characters and other unique creatures – all of whom are looking to capture Om Nom for themselves.
Along the way, Evan and Om Nom will discover the importance of trust and patience, and how life’s accidents can sometimes lead to incredible discoveries and unforgettable moments.

Sounds like they're going for an old '80s Amblin movie vibe with this one, which might actually work depending on who they get to write and direct. I've played the game before, but I had no idea it had expanded into a comic book series and an animated web series with over 600 million views. ZeptoLab (the developer of the game) and Blockade Entertainment are shepherding this to the big screen, and we'll let you know when more info becomes available. Check out the teaser poster below.

ANT-MAN: Sneak Peek With More Than Six Minutes of Footage Coming To IMAX Theaters This Friday

Disney and IMAX just sent out a press release revealing that starting this Friday, June 12th, there will be a special extended sneak peek of Marvel's Ant-Man playing in IMAX theaters across the country (and in some select international markets). The Ant-Man preview will play before screenings of Jurassic World throughout that film's entire IMAX run.

It's unclear whether there will be any new footage revealed in this sneak peek, or if it will simply be a new cut of footage we've already seen, but either way, this will be the first opportunity for fans to experience the action of Ant-Man on the biggest, most immersive screens out there. There's a rumor that Spider-Man is going to be referenced in this film, and how awesome would it be if Marvel already cast that role and Spidey appears briefly in this sneak peek? I know he's supposed to make his first appearance in Captain America: Civil War, but a quick Spidey shot here would certainly help get people excited for a movie that had its fair share of drama surrounding it before the camera even started rolling.

Armed with the astonishing ability to shrink in scale but increase in strength, master thief Scott Lang (Paul Rudd) must embrace his inner-hero and help his mentor, Dr. Hank Pym (Michael Douglas), protect the secret behind his spectacular Ant-Man suit from a new generation of towering threats. Against seemingly insurmountable obstacles, Pym and Lang must plan and pull off a heist that will save the world.

Ant-Man opens on July 17th.

C-3PO is Rocking a Red Arm in Promo Image From STAR WARS: THE FORCE AWAKENS

This weekend a photo popped up on Twitter that featured a promo image from Star Wars: The Force Awakens. The image features BB-8, R2-D2, and C-3PO, who happens to be sporting a new red arm.

I guess somewhere between Return of the Jedi and The Force Awakens, the protocol droid needed a new arm, and a red one was the only one they could find to replace it. I seriously don't think that this is Photoshopped because Making Star Wars previously posted some other merchandise photos online of the same image.

There's no information on why they switched out the arm, but I'm pretty sure it was to give the character a new fresh look for the fans and toy collectors. I know I'm going to have to own a C-3PO action figure with a red arm!

I know it's just a red arm, but it's hard not to geek out about even the smallest details of the Star Wars universe.

Hot Toys and Sideshow Collectibles have revealed their latest collectible action figure in their Avengers: Age of Ultron toy line. It's one of the armored Iron Legion robots created by Tony Stark to help in their efforts of keeping the world safe. There's no doubt that this figure would meet the standards of Stark's perfectionism. This was a cool design for the film, and it's pretty radical that it got its own 1/6th scale figure.

In Marvel’s Avengers: Age of Ultron, the tech genius Tony Stark created a battalion of new armored drones, dubbed the Iron Legion, to assist the Avengers on their daring missions. However, when Tony Stark tried to initiate the Ultron Program, the artificial intelligence rebelled and turned the Iron Legion against Earth’s Mightiest Heroes in the Avengers Tower!

Sideshow Collectibles and Hot Toys are pleased to officially introduce the Iron Legion Sixth Scale Collectible Figure. The movie-accurate Iron Legion Collectible Figure is specially crafted based on its image in Avengers: Age of Ultron.
