mad-max-video-game-story-trailer-savage-road

You've seen Mad Max: Fury Road, now get ready to play the Mad Max the video game! Warner Bros. Interactive Entertainment has released a story trailer for the game called "Savage Road." The game has been in development since 2008, and I hope it will be worth the wait. I can see the potential the game has. It looks awesome! So hopefully it doesn't disappoint.

Max's journey to the Plains of Silence takes an unexpected turn when a group of marauders run him off the road and steal his car. Max must traverse the barren desert Wasteland in search for his lost treasured vehicle, the Pursuit Special (also referred to as The Interceptor). In his journey to recover his prized Interceptor, he meets a deformed mechanic named Chumbucket.

It is scheduled to be released on September 1st, 2015, and it will be available on PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and PC.

Honest Trailer For Michael Bay's ARMAGEDDON

The latest Honest Trailer from Screen Junkies takes some wonderfully funny shots at Michael Bay's 1998 sci-fi action film Armageddon. I was never a big fan of this movie, but I forgot how hilariously bad it was until I watched this honest trailer. As always, these guys point out some great stuff in hopes it will entertain you and make you laugh.

Strap in for a mega-dose of Michael Bay-hem in 1998's second movie about a giant rock hurtling towards Earth from outer space - Armageddon!!

Robert Rodriguez Directing JONNY QUEST Movie For Warner Bros.

A Jonny Quest film adaptation has been in development for nearly a decade, with a script actually making The Black List (a list of the best unproduced screenplays of the year) in 2008. At the time, Zac Efron was rumored for the lead role and Dwayne Johnson was being eyed to play Race Bannon, but nothing came of that project and it eventually fell back into development hell. But now it appears that it's been given new life at Warner Bros.

THR says that Terry Rossio, the co-writer of Pirates of the Caribbean, will join Robert Rodriguez in rewriting Dan Mazeau's script, which Rodriguez will then direct. The original Hanna-Barbera cartoon debuted in 1964 and lasted only one season, but it had a great sense of sci-fi pulp adventure and the animation was awesome for its time. It also inspired a sequel series called The Real Adventures of Jonny Quest in the mid-90s, which had a cool virtual reality-inspired premise. The show followed a young boy named Johnny who traveled the world with his scientist father, Jonny's adopted brother Hadji, and his father's bodyguard Race Bannon.

Is there any way we can get Dwayne Johnson back on board as Bannon? That was excellent casting the first time around, and I realize the actor is incredibly busy these days, but that'd still be a great choice for the role. Rodriguez makes sense as a director, too, considering he's the same guy who made the Spy Kids movies. I really enjoyed Rodriguez's early work, but speaking bluntly, I feel like his films have gotten progressively worse over the years. I'm rooting for him to make a comeback, and maybe Jonny Quest will be just what he needs to get his creative juices flowing again.

Scientifically Accurate CATDOG Offers a Depressing Look at the '90s Cartoon

Remember that show CatDog? It was on Nickelodeon for seven years (I had no idea it ran that long) and followed the adventures of an inexplicable creature named CatDog that was made up of two brothers, one a cultured cat and the other a fun-loving dog.

As you might expect, ADHD has a much different take on such a creature than the original Nickelodeon show did, and while most of the Animation Domination High-Def videos are pretty funny, this one is mostly just depressing. It reminds me of the Pinky and the Brain video they did not too long ago. Check it out, and then below that you can see the original opening theme song for the real show:

Bryan Singer Confirms and Teases Caliban in X-MEN: APOCALYPSE

Director Bryan Singer has confirmed another mutant appearance in X-Men: Apocalypse. He released the behind-the-scenes photo below teasing revealing that the albino mutant named Caliban will be included in the story, and the photo reveals his "place of business."

Caliban was created by Chris Claremont and Dave Cockrum, and the character made his first appearance in Uncanny X-Men #148 back in 1981. Caliban is a Morlock who has a mutant tracking ability, and in the comics he was later enhanced by Apocalypse, making him one of En Sabah Nur’s Horsemen. He had a lot of anger and rage that he took out on his victims. I'm sure his role in the movie will focus on his relationship with Apocalypse. I'm curious to see what Singer actually has planned for this character in the story.

X-Men: Apocalypse will be released on May 27th, 2016.

See How The Retro-Futuristic Soundscape of TOMORROWLAND Was Created

It's true that Brad Bird's Tomorrowland was inspired by the theme park, but its true inspirations go back farther than that, to the same future that Walt Disney and the pioneers of innovation envisioned back in the 1960s. This was a time before the moon landing, when exploration and the sense of possibility were seemingly boundless, before the cynicism of Vietnam took hold of the country and had a colossal impact on the culture at large.

So how did Bird translate those feelings into an aural soundscape for his film? This new featurette from SoundWorks Collection explains:

David Duchovny Hints at a Longer Continuation of THE X-FILES

$

Right now, before a new second of footage has been unveiled, everyone seems to love the idea of The X-Files revival. It makes a ton of sense from multiple perspectives: FOX doesn't have much going for them in the way of massive cult shows that drive a lot of online discussion, revivals seem to be all the rage these days, and in the wake of the NSA scandal, it seems especially appropriate for this specific show to come roaring back into the zeitgeist in a big way.

And if star David Duchovny has his way, this won't just be a limited run miniseries. While he doesn't want to film extended seasons, he told Entertainment Weekly that he's down for a second season:

“I would be open to doing another cycle. I don’t know that I could do a 20-episode version of this show at this point in my life, and I don’t know that Gillian could. But I think everybody is open ended on what happens after this. Certainly, we didn’t bring it back with the idea of ending it.”

That's encouraging news for fans, who are waiting with their fingers crossed that the show will return to its former glory. Something else to get excited about? The fact that the show will blend stand-alone stories with an overarching mythology. "Even though there’s only six [episodes], there will be a mix,” Duchovny said. “It’s not really The X-Files without the mythology.” The series makes its return to TV in January of 2016.

Even though yesterday was Memorial Day and many of you probably had the day off, the week is back in full swing and you're likely back at work or school. So what can you do when you get frustrated with the same old crap that you always have to deal with? How do you achieve any kind of catharsis? Well, the people at SuperCutOnline are here with something that might help: a supercut of movie characters getting slapped in the face. Just put yourselves in the shoes of the slappers in this video, and imagine that the people getting slapped all have the face of Steve from Corporate, or your annoying teacher Mr. Hartigan. It's only about a minute long, so it'll be a nice way to blow off some steam before ultimately getting back to work.

Vincent D'Onofrio In Talks To Play The Villain in CHiPS Movie

$

Thanks in large part to his excellent performance as Kingpin in Daredevil, Vincent D'Onofrio is in high demand right now. He has a part in Jurassic World, and stars as one of the members of The Magnificent Seven in the upcoming remake, and now THR is reporting that he's in negotiations to play another villain, this time in the CHiPs movie adaptation opposite Dax Shepard and Michael Pena.

The film is based on the 1970s TV show about California Highway Patrol officers Jon Baker (Shepard) and Frank "Ponch" Poncherello (Pena), and D'Onofrio will play a former cop who crosses the line of the law to become the ringleader of an exotic car theft organization. Shepard is pulling triple duty here, co-writing the screenplay and also directing. I'm sure the project will benefit from D'Onofrio's talent, but is anyone really clamoring for a CHiPs movie? Hopefully this will be a 21 Jump Street situation, where the final product is much better than anyone gave it credit for during the development process.

FilmQuest 2015 has announced their official selections for their upcoming film festival that takes place in Salt Lake City from June 18th to June 27th. GeekTyrant has partnered up with the festival, and we will be covering the event as well and moderating some of the screenings and panels.

We don't have a lot of details on these films yet, but as time goes on, we will fill you in with that additional information. FilmQuest is a place for aspiring filmmakers to come and show off what they've got! It will serve as a launching pad for many of them, who will hopefully go on to bigger and better things.

The festival will also include a 30th anniversary screening of Back to the Future! It's going to be so cool to see that on the big screen again!

The 2015 FilmQuest Festival received 1,252 film and screenplay submissions for consideration. Over a dozen judges were involved in the entire selection process, resulting in the acceptance of 255 projects (about a 20% acceptance rate) for the 2015 FilmQuest Festival. Extreme Teaser Trailer and Poster for POINT BREAK Remake

Update: The full domestic trailer has also been released. Watch it at the very bottom of this page.

Warner Bros. has released an international teaser trailer and poster for their Point Break remake. As you will see in the footage, it’s trying to get the point across that this is going to be an extremely adrenaline-fueled heist movie. The poster gives off the same vibe as the Furious 7 poster with the cars driving out of the back of the plane, only this one isn’t as cool. On top of that they are losing all their money! That's a terrible plan.

The action-thriller stars Luke Bracey, who is taking on the role of FBI agent Johnny Utah, the character previously played by Keanu Reeves. Then there's Edgar Ramirez who is taking on the role of criminal mastermind Bodhi, previously played by Patrick Swayze

Some additional footage of the film was recently screened for press at CinemaCon, and it seemed like a lot of people were unimpressed. It might be a fun movie to watch, but it doesn’t sound like it’s going to be as good as the original movie. The big wave stuff in the teaser is pretty epic, but nothing here tells us if the story is actually going to be good.

Here’s the synopsis:

In Alcon Entertainment’s fast-paced, high-adrenaline action thriller Point Break, a young FBI agent, Johnny Utah (Bracey), infiltrates a cunning team of thrill seeking elite athletes, led by the charismatic Bodhi (Ramirez). The athletes are suspected of carrying out a string of staggering crimes that kill innocent people and send the world’s economy into a tailspin.
Deep undercover, and with his life in imminent danger, Utah strives to prove they are the callous architects of these inconceivable crimes.
The film is replete with the most daring athleticism ever seen in a motion picture. These action adventure feats are performed by extreme athletes representing the world’s best in class in big-wave surfing, wingsuit flying, sheer-face snowboarding, free rock climbing, and high-speed motorcycling.

Point Break also co-stars Teresa Palmer, Ray Winstone, Delroy Lindo, and Tobias Santelmann. It’s set to be released in the US on Christmas Day. Are you looking forward to this?

Fox Is Rebooting THE LEAGUE OF EXTRAORDINARY GENTLEMEN

20th Century Fox is looking to reboot the film adaptation of Alan Moore and Kevin O’Neill’s graphic novel The League of Extraordinary Gentlemen. The original movie was released in 2003 and starred Sean Connery as Allan Quartermaine, but it turned out to be a dud. The original plan was to launch a film franchise based on the property, but it didn’t make enough money to warrant any sequels.

The graphic novel is great, but a lot of people felt the the movie was poorly adapted. It’s kind of sad that this was the last film Connery starred in before he retired. The movie definitely should have been a lot better, which is why I’m ok with this reboot. The property has some awesome potential, and if it’s put in the right hands, this movie could end up being extremely cool. Just because the first movie sucked, doesn’t mean the reboot will, but it very well could!

The story centers on a few Victorian-era literary characters such as Captain Nemo, the Invisible Man, Mina Harker, Dorian Grey, Tom Sawyer, and Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde as they team up for the British government to foil a plot at the center of a war between villains Fu Manchu and Professor Moriarty.

I’ve always enjoyed the concept of this historical fantasy story, and I hope that this time around they actually get it right when developing it as a feature film.

John Davis (Chronicle, The Man from U.N.C.L.E.) is producing the project, and he’s currently on the hunt for directors to bring the movie to life. What do you all think about The League of Extraordinary Gentlemen making a big screen comeback?

The imagination of Grand Theft Auto players continues to provide us with cool entertainment. Here's a video that was released by YouTube user TheSlothsDen, and he awesomely attempts to recreate an intense chase scene from Mad Max: Fury Road in GTA V

The cars used in the video don't have the crazy post-apocalyptic warrior look, but it certainly captures the adrenaline-fueled spirit of the film. It features a semi truck as the war rig, and several all terrain vehicles motorcycles chasing it trying to take it down kamikaze style.

FUNimation Entertainment has released a teaser trailer for Dragon Ball Z: Resurrection ‘F’  and announced that the film has a release date in the U.S. and Canada. The movie will be screened from August 4th to August 12th in select theaters. Gen Fukunaga, CEO and founder of FUNimation said,

“We are thrilled to bring fans – both new and old – this latest film from series creator Akira Toriyama. Dragon Ball Z: Resurrection ‘F’ is a visually stunning movie and offers even more action and comedy than ‘Dragon Ball Z: Battle of Gods.'”

Mike DuBoise, EVP and COO of FUNimation added,

“Fans are in for another amazing ride with Dragon Ball Z: Resurrection ‘F’. We will be raising the bar for the anime theater-going experience.”

Here a description of the story:

Dragon Ball Z: Resurrection ‘F’ is the 20th film in the “Dragon Ball” franchise, which first debuted in North America in 1986. The new movie showcases the return of Frieza – one of the greatest villains in all of anime. Now resurrected from death, Frieza embarks on plans to take his revenge on the Z Fighters of Earth. Goku and Vegeta once again face their nemesis together, but this time it is a fight for Earth’s very survival.
As far as the voice cast for the film goes we’ve got Seán Schemmel as Goku, Christopher R. Sabat as Vegeta/Piccolo, Chris Ayres as Frieza, John Burgmeier as Tien, Kyle Hebert as Gohan, Mike McFarland as Master Roshi, Monica Rial as Bulma, Sonny Strait as Krillin, Ian Sinclair as Whis, Todd Haberkorn as Jaco, and Jason Douglas as the villain from last year’s “Battle of Gods,” Beerus.

Video of [SPOILER] Hanging from Joker's Car on SUICIDE SQUAD Set

If you've been keeping up on all the rumors and recent set videos from Suicide Squad, then you know who to expect to see hanging off of the Joker's car in the videos below. But due to the spoiler sensitivity of some people out there, we have to be careful. So SPOILERS ahead:

Yesterday we posted video of Batman chasing the Joker down in his Batmobile on the set of David Ayer's Suicide Squad. Today we have some new video of Batman clinging on to the top of the villain's car. I guess he had to ditch the Batmobile in order to effectively try to take out Joker.

That's not Ben Affleck in costume, but it's a safe bet that we will see him suited up as the Dark Knight in Suicide Squad as he eventually comes face-to-face with Jared Leto's Joker. The movie is scheduled to hit theaters on August 5th, 2016.

Hulk Hogan Has Met With Sylvester Stallone About Playing EXPENDABLES 4 Villain

$

hulk-hogan-has-met-with-sylvester-stallone-about-playing-expendables-4-villain

It looks like Hulk Hogan and Sylvester Stallone might be teaming up again for a fourth Expendables movie. The Expendables 4 has yet to receive an official greenlight, but Stallone is obviously looking at getting one off the ground. He previously said that if he did make a fourth film it would be rated R, unlike the third one which was slapped with a PG-13 rating.

If the new sequel does happen, it looks like Hulk Hogan could end up in the role of the big bad villain, which would be awesome! Hogan revealed the news himself during a Q&A session at the Body Power Expo in Birmingham, England, and during it he teased that he would be "the most evil man in the world."

“We’re trying to figure out a way to maybe turn me into the most evil man in the world. Y’know, Stallone gave me my first break and he’s been a great friend. We had a great conversation, talking about the possibilities. ‘Can I still run, can I still jump?’ Well, not as fast or not as high, but I think Hollywood could find a good stunt man to help me out.”

The “first break” that Hogan is talking about here is Stallone’s 1982 film Rocky II. He played a pro wrestler named Thunderlips who fought Rocky Balboa at a charity event. I’d love to see Hogan join the cast of badasses and take them on as the villain in the story.

I know these Expendables movies aren’t the greatest films, but they sure have been fun to watch! Hogan hasn’t appeared in a feature film since 1999's Muppets from Space. Expendables 4 is the perfect film for a come back.

On his blog, he gives a detailed description of how it all works, but he built it using an app called Cocoa and a Sprite Kit. Here's a brief explanation of what it does:

When Screentendo is launched, a semi-transparent window appears which can be moved and resized over other application windows. After placing the Screentendo window over an area of the screen, clicking inside the window will cause the app to render a game level based on the content beneath it.

Burying the Ex is a horror comedy that comes from director Joe Dante, the man who gave us classic films such as Gremlins and The Burbs. It’s been a long time since I’ve seen a movie from Dante that I’ve really enjoyed. The last film he made was called The Hole, and it was released back in 2009. Unfortunately, Burying the Ex doesn’t look like it’s going to be anything special.

The story centers on a character named Max who is played by Anton Yelchin. He ends up being involved with a girlfriend from hell named Evelyn played by Ashley Greene. He just wants to break up with her, but before he does, she dies. That seemed like an easy way out for him until she comes back from the dead as a zombie, and she won’t let him move on.

BURYING THE EX follows Max (Anton Yelchin), an all-around nice guy, and his overbearing but incredibly beautiful girlfriend, Evelyn (Ashley Greene). Their relationship takes a nosedive after they decide to move in together and Evelyn turns out to be a controlling, manipulative nightmare. Max realizes it’s time to call it quits, but there’s just one problem: he’s too afraid to break up with her. Fate steps in when Evelyn is involved in a freak accident and dies, leaving Max single and ready to mingle. Several weeks later, he has a chance encounter with Olivia (Alexandra Daddario), a cute and spirited girl who just might be his soul mate. But that same night, Evelyn returns from the grave as a dirt-smeared Zombie and she’s determined to live happily ever after with Max…even if that means turning him into one of the undead.

The movie is set to be released this summer on June 19th.
