Warner Bros and director J.A. Bayona are set to bring us the film adaptation of Patrick Ness’ book A Monster Calls. The screenplay is being adapted by the author. Screen Daily announced that Liam Neeson has joined the cast as the monster. Here is their synopsis of the story:

Thirteen-year-old Conor O’Malley is troubled by his mother’s declining health, school bullies and the yew tree in his backyard that transforms at night into a monster that narrates strange stories.

Over time what the terrifying visitor tells the boy enables him to come to terms with life’s truths

The movie also stars Felicity Jones and is set to be released Oct. 2016.

There is no info whether Neeson is going to be doing Motion Capture for this film or what. If all that he lends is his voice, it will be totally worth it. Neeson is a much better actor than his action films lead you to believe. I am thoroughly interested in seeing what this movie has to offer.

One thing I may not have told you about myself: I freakin' love donuts! They are the greatest food ever invented. I'm always on the hunt for the perfect donut. Anyway, I came across these custom-made Star Wars-themed donuts that I had to share. They come from the New York City-based vegan doughnut shop, Dun-Well Doughnuts. I have no idea if they taste good or not, but they sure do look awesomely delicious! They've even got a photo of Boba Fett in the back baking these things up!

Here's the trailer for another one of your typical Nicholas Cage movies. The film is called Rage, and Cage plays a man whose daughter is kidnapped by the Russian mob. Cage's character is a reformed criminal, so of course he rounds up his old crew to get his daughter back and deliver justice to the people that took her.

Rage also stars Danny Glover and Aubrey Peeples, who will play Jem in Jon M. Chu’s upcoming adaptation of Jem and the HologramsRage will be released On Demand on June 10th and in select theaters on July 11th.

The movie looks like it doesn't have anything that we haven't seen before. Maybe it will be worth checking out when it's on Netflix or cable.

Earlier this week it was revealed that the working title for Star Wars: Episode VII is The Ancient Fear. Conan O'Brien and his writers took that rumor and turned it into a fun comedy bit where he reveals the alternate titles for J.J. Abrams' highly anticipated film. It will be great when we do find out what the actual title of the movie will be.

Just a side note… I know the photo above comes from a previous episode of Conan, but I thought it was appropriate to use for this post because it included Conan with Han Solo.

Warner Bros. has released a TV spot for their incredibly cool looking new sci-fi film, Edge of Tomorrow. The movie stars Tom Cruise and Emily Blunt, and I've enjoyed everything that I've seen from it so far, and I can't wait to see it when it comes out on June 6th!

Lt. Col. Bill Cage (Tom Cruise) is an officer who has never seen a day of combat when he is unceremoniously dropped into what amounts to little more than a suicide mission. Killed within minutes, Cage now finds himself inexplicably thrown into a time loop—forcing him to live out the same brutal combat over and over, fighting and dying again…and again.

But with each battle, Cage becomes able to engage the adversaries with increasing skill, alongside Special Forces warrior Rita Vrataski (Emily Blunt). And, as Cage and Rita take the fight to the aliens, each repeated encounter gets them one step closer to defeating the enemy.

I don't know if you've ever watched the British comedy series The Inbetweeners before, but I think it's hilarious. If you enjoy fun raunchy comedy, then you'll definitely enjoy the show. They've already made one movie, and now they have a sequel on the way. Today we bring you the teaser trailer for The Inbetweeners 2, which features the main characters Jay, Neil, Simon, and Will. It's looking like they will be causing all kinds of hijinks in the Outback of Australia.

The writers and directors of the movie, Damon Beesley and Iain Morris, had this to say in a statement:

“We can't say too much as we don't want to spoil the jokes for you, but what we can exclusively reveal is there will be kangaroos. And Australians. And possibly koalas. Oh and obviously Jay, Will, Neil and Simon, providing they’re let into the country. Thanks so much for all your support, we’re hoping to deliver a film that you’ll enjoy even more than the last one."

James Buckley, Blake Harrison, Joe Thomas and Simon Bird will reprise their roles in the film, and they will be joined by recent Star Wars addition Daisy Ridley, as well as Celeste Cotton, David Schaal, Larissa Jones, and Susan WokomaThe Inbetweeners 2 is set to be released in the UK on August 6th. Thanks to Empire for the heads up on the trailer!

Machinima has released the full trailer for their new web-series, Street Fighter: Assassin's Fist. Street Fighter was one on my favorite games growing up, but it never really seemed to translate very well to film. This might be the best adaptation we ever get because I seriously don't think any studio is going to attempt to make another Street Fighter movie ever again.

The live-action series comes from Ansah, who worked on the fan film Street Fighter: Legacy. He also stars in the series as Akuma, and co-wrote the script with Christian Howard. The series also stars Mike Moh as Ryu, Togo Igawa as Gōtetsu, Akira Koieyama as Gōken, Gaku Space as Gōki, Mark Killeen as Mr. Masters, and Hal Yamanouchi as Senzo.

Through the coming-of-age story of Ken & Ryu, we are shown the back story of some of the game’s most iconic characters, and over the course of the series we will see how the past, present, and future of all of those characters are intertwined, as the battle to become Ansatsuken Master threatens to tear apart another generation of brothers.

As Ryu & Ken's training in the Ansatsuken style of Martial Arts intensifies, their Master Goken is forced to revisit the dark secrets and tragedy of his past that culminated in the loss of his brother Goki.

All 12 episodes of the will be available to watch on Machinima on May 23rd.

THE FANTASTIC FOUR Reboot Adds THE WIRE Alum Reg E. Cathey to the Cast

For all you fans of the hit HBO series The Wire, this will be some fun casting news. It was recently announced that Reg E. Cathey has been cast as Dr. Storm, the father of Sue (Kate Mara) and Johnny (Michael B. Jordan), in the upcoming Fantastic Four reboot.

Cathey was on The Wire from 2006-2008. If you haven’t seen the series, you might recognize him from movies like Seven and American Psycho

I am not really sold on this reboot yet. I wish Fox would have let the rights go back to Marvel. I think Fantastic Four and all other Marvel characters should be under the Marvel umbrella. Well, this isn’t a perfect world, and I will just have to deal with it.

The Fantastic Four also stars Miles Teller and Jamie Bell. It will hit theaters June 15th 2015.

U.S. Air Force Members Discuss Their Godzilla Battle Strategy

If Godzilla was real, would the United States Military be prepared to take out the giant monster? The Smithsonian Air and Space Magazine recently interviewed members of the U.S. Air Force stationed at Kadena Air Base in Okinawa, Japan and asked them how they would handle a Godzilla threat. It's a really fun interview, but it would have been even funnier had they taken it very seriously.

I also included a Godzilla infographic that compares the sizes of all the different Godzilla monsters that we've seen over the years.

Ray Winstone Cast in POINT BREAK Reboot

There has been a lot of casting news surrounding the reboot of Point Break. We recently learned that Gerard Butler has left the production. In the midst of the scramble to find another Bodhi, it has been announced that Ray Winstone has been cast to play Pappas.

Winstone is a great actor, and I am glad that he is a part of this reboot; I just don’t think he can save this sinking ship. Point Break is my guilty pleasure movie, and I absolutely do not think it should be redone. I hated it a little less when Butler was playing Bodhi, but now that he is out, I doubt I will see this movie. Whoever they get to replace him better be a damn good fit because at this point I am not interested.

Some more concept art from The Amazing Spider-Man 2 has hit the web, and I think it includes the best Rhino character design that I've seen so far. This design stays truer to what we've seen in the comic books. The digital art was done by Tsvetomir Georgiev, and I've also included some alternate designs that he did for Spider-Man's costume and the Green Goblin's glider.

This clever, entertaining sci-fi animated short, "Johnny Express," was created by Alfred Imageworks. It's a fantastic and funny story that delivers some solid laughs... at the expense of the massive death and destruction of an alien race. Here's the synopsis:

It's 2150. There are all sorts of Aliens living throughout space. Johnny is a Space Delivery Man who travels to different planets to deliver packages. Johnny is lazy and his only desire is to sleep in his autopilot spaceship. When the spaceship arrives at the destination, all he has to do is simply deliver the box. Michael Dougherty to Direct the Horror Comedy KRAMPUS

Legendary Pictures has hired Trick R' Treat writer and director, Michael Dougherty, to helm their horror comedy, Krampus. The film is based on an ancient legend about a pagan demon who punishes misbehaving children during the Christmas season.

The twisted Christmas film was co-written by Todd Casey and Zach Shields, and here's what Dougherty had to say about it in a statement.

“The dark ancient origins of our holidays have always fascinated me. I’ve been drawing twisted Christmas cards for well over a decade, so it only made sense to bring some of that morbid yuletide fun to the big screen, and Krampus was the perfect mythology to do that. Christmas has been invading Halloween for far too long. It’s time to return the favor.”

Deadline says that Krampus is "similar in style to Dougherty’s cult hit Trick R’ Treat." Trick R' Treat is my favorite Halloween movie of all time, and he's currently developing the sequel to that as well, which is awesome. I love Dougherty's style, and I think he's the perfect guy to bring Krampus to the big screen.

This great illustration of Spider-Man fighting the Venom Symbiote was created by Zuleta Miguel. I would love to finally see Venom's full potential realized on the big screen. I'm really hoping that we get it with the movie that is currently in development at Sony Pictures. I really wanted Sam Raimi to pull it off with Spider-Man 3, but we all know how that turned out.

Legendary Pictures has released an awesome new clip from Gareth Edward's Godzilla. The scene features Godzilla rising out of the ocean while surrounded by a flotilla of Navy battleships. Godzilla isn't really attacking anyone at this point, but they sure are unleashing hell on him. I think it's hilarious that they always stick a school bus full of kids on a bridge that is in danger of being attacked or about to collapse. The movie comes out on May 16th!

Sigourney Weaver Confirms She'll Return for AVATAR Sequels

James Cameron is deep in pre-production for his next three Avatar movies, and far as actors go, right now it stars Sam Worthington, Zoe Saldana, and Stephen Lang, and there's even a rumor that Arnold Schwarzenegger will be a part of it. It was a safe bet to assume that Sigourney Weaver would be a part of these sequels, and now she has confirmed it in an interview with Vulture. She even talks a little bit about what we can expect from her character saying,

"It's going to be an adventure! It will be awesome. I can't even imagine what I am taking on —  and what James Cameron is taking on — with filming three AVATARs at once, but ... Peter Jackson did it with the HOBBIT films, so we have that to look to. It will be challenging for me. I can't talk about it, but my part is a little different in each one. I'll transform somewhat. We'll have to talk again when I survive this. For now, I'm going to skittle around and enjoy this leisure time."

It's interesting how she talks about her character transforming from one movie to the next. In the first movie her character failed to link up with the "Tree of Souls," but maybe there is something on the planet of Pandora that helps them resurrect Dr. Augustine in some way? It's not out of the realm of possibility in a fantasy sci-fi film like this. Whatever happens with her character, it will be great to see Weaver return.

Review of Seth Rogen's NEIGHBORS

It's Seth Rogen versus Zac Efron in director Nicholas Stoller's new comedy Neighbors. What you saw in the trailer is what you get in the movie. So if you liked the marketing materials, then chances are you'll enjoy watching this movie. I was completely entertained from start to finish, but I'm the kind of guy who appreciates Rogen's style of comedy.

The story follows a couple with a newborn baby who invest all of their money in a house to start living the American dream. Everything looks like it's going to be great for the small family until a fraternity moves in next door. The fraternity has a dream of their own, and that dream is throwing the biggest and craziest party in the history of the frat.

Rogen and his wife try to work things out with the frat, even trying to be friends in the beginning, but things don't pan out the way they hoped. A dirty war begins between the family and the frat with each side trying to make the other's lives a living hell. They end up doing some pretty awful things to each other, but that's where a lot of the great comedy in the film comes into play.

I normally don't care for Efron and his films, but this is one of the most enjoyable movies he's done. He played the president of the fraternity, and he fit the role so well. It was believable that he could be that guy. Rogen was great as always, Dave Franco was actually really funny, and it's always fun to see Rose Byrne do comedy.

When it comes to comedies like this, you pretty much know what to expect. Sometimes they turn out to be good, sometimes they're bad. This wasn't the greatest comedy ever made, but it delivered the laughs, and when it comes to a comedy that's what matters most. It may have had some weak story points, and the ending may not have been the best, but the movie succeeded in making me laugh, so it wins in my book.
