Marvel has released two high resolution photos from Guardians of the Galaxy featuring Chris Pratt all decked out as Star-Lord. These images were released a couple of days ago, but they were scans from a magazine. These are a lot more pleasing to the eye!

TV Spot for Jon Favreau's CHEF
I'm a big fan of Jon Favreau, and he doesn't have to make big comic book movies to get me excited about his projects. The guy was making great indie films before he hit it big with Iron Man. Now he has another fantastic-looking little movie coming out called Chef. Thanks to AICN, we have a new TV spot to show you today.
When Chef Carl Casper (Favreau) suddenly quits his job at a prominent Los Angeles restaurant after refusing to compromise his creative integrity for its controlling owner (Dustin Hoffman), he is left to figure out what’s next. Finding himself in Miami, he teams up with his ex-wife (Sofia Vergara), his friend (John Leguizamo) and his son to launch a food truck. Taking to the road, Chef Carl goes back to his roots to reignite his passion for the kitchen—and zest for life and love.
The movie also reunites the director with Iron Man stars Robert Downey Jr. and Scarlett Johansson. Chef hits theaters on May 9th, and I'm looking forward to watching it.
VFX Breakdown for Electro's "Dematerialization" in AMAZING SPIDER-MAN 2
Sony Pictures Imageworks has released a visual effects breakdown video for Marc Webb's The Amazing Spider-Man 2. It specifically focuses on Electro's awesome ability to dematerialize and rematerialize in the film. The video is narrated by Digital FX Supervisor David Smith, and it shows off a lot of cool stuff.
I loved how Electro was portrayed in the movie. He was a really cool character, and the way they showed him use his abilities and powers was really fun to watch on the big screen.
GODZILLA Eats Cars in Fun Fiat Commercial
"He's back! And it looks like he's craving Italian."
Fiat released this amazingly clever car commercial for their 500L series. It features Godzilla on a destructive path through the city, eating cars along the way. The most hilarious thing about this commercial is a little note at the bottom of the screen at the end that says, "Didn't Actually Happen." Here's the note that came along with the commercial:
In our newest television commercial, the FIAT 500 experiences firsthand the power and size of Godzilla. Godzilla notices the FIAT 500L, but he's eying a snack rather than the panoramic, floating roof. And while the 500L does a good job of overcoming the road-level obstacles of the escape, the clutches of Godzilla finally catch up to the speedy Italian.
Enjoy the commercial!
Channing Tatum to Star in and Produce '70s Crime Thriller
Channing Tatum is set to star in and produce a 1970s crime thriller for Sony Pictures. There's no title for the film yet, but according to THR it tells the "inspiring true story of an ordinary family man who decides to risk everything by going undercover to take down the biggest mob boss in the country."
I'm a big fan of 70s crime thrillers, and it would be great if they made this movie like some of those classics. They had a great way of telling stories back then, and I loved the style.
This should be a solid project for Tatum to take on. I never thought I would like the guy as an actor, but he's been making some really solid films recently. It will be interesting to see how this one turns out.
Tatum will next be seen in 22 Jump Street, which opens June 13th; Jupiter Ascending, which opens July 18th; and Foxcatcher opposite Steve Carrell. He also plans to shoot Magic Mike XXL, which he also co-wrote.
Chris Hemsworth to Play the Lead in LETHAL WEAPON Reboot?
The rumor mill is up and running again. Sources at The Tracking Board say they have confirmed that Thor himself, Chris Hemsworth, has been offered the lead role in the upcoming Lethal Weapon sequel/reboot thing.
The Tracking Board says:
Chris Hemsworth has been offered a starring role in the Warner Brothers reboot of “Lethal Weapon,” currently titled LIONHUNTERS
– as reports indicate the recent version of the script centers on the desires of an older cop’s son (presumably Riggs’) and his wishes to join the police force.
Reports indicate that Justin Lin is attached to direct with Joel Silver producing. Also, it has been said that creator of the original characters, Shane Black, will have some input in the direction the sequel will take.
With the assumption that the lead role will be the son of Mel Gibson’s Riggs, that leaves the door wide open for cameos by Mel and his co-star Danny Glover. I know that there is a lot of hate and discontent when it comes to Mel, and that is justifiable. Does his presence detract from the movie as a whole?
Regardless of whether Mel is in it or not, I am excited to see how the franchise continues. I think the story would work best if Riggs Sr. was dead and Murtaugh was playing the mentor role in Riggs Jr.’s life. It could make a great revenge flick, especially with Hemsworth in the lead. He plays the angrily conflicted guy really well.
Disneys FROZEN Reimagined in the Style of Tim Burton
Artist Yoko has developed a great series of art that shows us what Disney's Frozen would have looked like in the style of Tim Burton. So the characters have been given big, creepy, dark eyes, skinny bodies, and oversized heads. I've always enjoyed Burton's style, so I think these turned out really cool. I'd love to see the whole movie remade in this style!
Gerard Butler Drops out of POINT BREAK Remake
Gerard Butler was set to play the character Bohdi in the Point Break remake currently in development. This is the character that Patrick Swayze played in the original 1991 film. Butler is no longer attached the project.
According to THR, sources say that he left due to a variety of reasons, a couple of which were creative differences and a scheduling conflicts. I actually thought Butler would be great in the movie. He's the only reason I was interested in seeing it.
The plan is to start shooting the movie in June, and the studio will recast the part in the coming weeks. Luke Bracey is set to play hotshot FBI agent Johnny Utah, who was originally played by Keanu Reeves.
Ericson Core is directing the movie from a script by Kurt Wimmer. One of the producers of the film, Broderick Johnson, previously talked about the remake, comparing it to the original by saying:
The script only shares in common with the original the characters and the nature of the character dynamic between Utah and Bodhi and their relationship. Everything else about the movie is different. The narrative of the movie is different. While we do have surfing in the film, it is only a subset of the extreme sports that we deal with, including free-climbing, motocross, wing-suiting, and so forth. The movie is being shot in 10 countries across the globe.
I hope they are able to bring on another talented actor to fill the role. Do any of you have any suggestions of who you think would be a good fit?
The Millennium Falcon Turned into a Ring
"She may not look like much, but she's got it where it counts, kid."
Paul Michael Designs has revealed a new ring design for their Star Wars collection. What can I say? The Millennium Falcon design works for a ring. It also comes in three different metals and different stones to choose from. My question to you would be… would you propose to your girlfriend with a ring like this?
I always thought it was weird that everyone in the Star Wars movies thought the Millennium Falcon was a hunk of hunk, because I think it's one of the coolest looking ships ever!

Saw X-Men: DOFP & it was really good! In opinion its the best X-Men movie so far but that's just me. It was like Avengers but with Mutants.

— Kevin McCarthy (@KevinMcCarthyTV) May 8, 2014
My excitement level for the film is up a bit more. It's really awesome to see that the press have been enjoying the movie. Mostly because they are the hardest ones to please.
X-Men Days of Future Past stars Hugh Jackman, James McAvoy, Michael Fassbender, Jennifer Lawrence, Halle Berry, Anna Paquin, Ellen Page, Peter Dinklage, Patrick Stewart, and Ian McKellen. It is set to hit U.S. theaters on May 23. Here’s the official description:
The ultimate X-Men ensemble fights a war for the survival of the species across two time periods in X-MEN: DAYS OF FUTURE PAST. The beloved characters from the original “X-Men” film trilogy join forces with their younger selves from the past, “X-Men: First Class,” in order to change a major historical event and fight in an epic battle that could save our future.
New GODZILLA Footage Featured in 3D Featurette
The latest featurette for Godzilla focuses on the 3D aspect of the film, and director Gareth Edwards is really talking it up. I'm not the biggest fan of 3D, especially when it's converted in post. Edwards seems really pumped up about it, though! They have also included a good amount of new footage from the movie. All the clips they show are shots that would help display the awesomeness of their 3D conversion, if only you got to see it in 3D. Thanks to scified.com for the heads up!
Parody Trailer for Sofia Coppola's THE LITTLE MERMAID
A couple of months ago it was announced that Sofia Coppola would be directing a live-action adaptation of The Little Mermaid. In the spirit of comedy, Funny or Die developed this great trailer for what they imagine her movie might look like. They even got AnnaSophia Robb and Evan Peters to star in it. I love how this turned out. It's spot on what I would expect from Coppola, and I would actually enjoy watching a movie like this. Funny or Die really did an awesome job with this.
Sofia Coppola's Little Mermaid from Funny Or Die20 Greatest Movie Cameos and Small Roles
I love it when I'm watching a movie and all of a sudden, out of nowhere there's a surprise appearance by a big, well-known actor. Sometimes the roles are funny, sometimes actors parody themselves, and then there are times when we get an incredible dramatic performance. There are a ton of great movie cameos out there, but I thought I'd put together a list of 20 cameos and small movie roles that I have enjoyed over the years.
There are some famous cameos such as Stan Lee's Marvel movie cameos and the Anchorman cameos that I purposely left off the list because they seem to be obvious choices.
Look over my list and let me know what your favorite movie cameos are in the comment section!
Bill Murray - Little Shop of Horrors
This is by far my favorite movie cameo of all time. Murray is absolutely hilarious in every way. He plays a guy that basically gets off on pain, and it's pure comedy genius.
Christopher Walken - Pulp Fiction
This is one of the most weirdly intense scenes ever put on film. Walken is one of the greatest character actors of all time, and this is one of the best roles he has ever had. I've never forgotten this little story he told. It has been embedded in my mind since I first saw it.
Tom Cruise - Tropic Thunder
The cameo role of Len Wiseman reinvigorated Cruise's career after it was tarnished by his jumping around on Oprah's couch. I believe they tried to keep his involvement with the film a secret. He was so funny in this movie.
Tom Cruise, Gweneth Paltrow, Kevin Spacey, Danny Devito, and Steven Spielberg - Austin Powers in Goldmember
The opening scene of this movie was absolutely amazing! I remember watching this and being floored by all the A-list actors they got. It was a fun surprise watching them make a big-budget movie within a movie.
The Three Stooges - It's A Mad, Mad, Mad, Mad World
Yeah! The Three Stooges actually had a little cameo in this movie. I don't know why, because they didn't even do anything.
Bruce Willis and Julia Roberts - The Player
This is one of my favorite films about the entertainment industry, and when you're making a big-budget movie within a movie, you've got to have A-list stars.
Gene Hackman - Young Frankenstein
For years I didn't even know this was Hackman until a friend pointed it out to me in high school. The scene he's in is absolutely hilarious. Young Frankenstein is one of my favorite comedies of all time.
Charlton Heston - Wayne's World 2
The part where they bring in Heston to replace another actor in the middle of shooting a scene was freakin' brilliant! This was one of my favorite scenes from the movie.
Hulk Hogan - Gremlins 2: The New Batch
This was such a ridiculously random scene. I was a huge fan of Hulk Hogan back in the day, so I thought it was the best thing ever when he showed up in the film.
Sean Connery - Robin Hood: Prince of Thieves
Connery is such a badass. Of course he would show up as the king in this. It's not only a nod to his 1976 film Robin and Marian, but it's also a reunion with his Untouchables co-star Kevin Costner.
Michael Cera - This Is the End
Even though this was just a cameo and he was killed off very early on in the film, playing a parody of himself is the funniest damn thing he's ever done.
Johnny Depp - 21 Jump Street
A lot of us knew that Depp would make an appearance in the film, but we didn't when, where, or how he would show up. When the reveal finally came it was a fantastic payoff.
Patrick Stewart - Robin Hood: Men in Tights
Stewart's parody of Connery's King Richard was fantastic. I'm so happy he found the humor in doing something like this because he seemed like such a serious actor at the time. I just never saw him doing anything like this.
Orson Welles - Transformers: The Movie
This was the last movie that Welles was part of before he passed away. He provided the voice of the giant devouring transforming planet Unicron. A voice can be a cameo too!
Bill Murray - Zombieland
His cameo was a complete surprise in this movie, and I absolutely loved it. As much as I loved the movie, his cameo was the best part. I never thought I would laugh so hard during a death scene.
Alec Baldwin - Glengary Glen Ross
He only had one scene in this movie, and he owned it. Baldwin stole the whole movie with his incredible performance. Damn, he was good.
Bob Barker - Happy Gilmore
It was such a perfect moment when Adam Sandler got his ass kicked by Bob freakin' Barker. This is definitely one of the most entertaining cameos ever.
Ben Affleck and Matt Damon - Jay and Silent Bob Strike Back
I was amused by the fact that they were able to make fun of themselves here shooting Good Will Hunting 2: Hunting Season.
Cate Blanchett - Hott Fuzz
How awesome is it that she didn't even have to show her face!?
Martin Sheen - Hot Shots! Part Deux
This was a great little nod to the Vietnam War film Apocalypse Now. They then took it to a whole other level of funny when Charlie and Martin looked at each other as they passed by and said, "I loved you in Wall Street!"

DAWN OF THE PLANET OF THE APES — Simian Flu Before and After "Videos"
20th Century FOX has released 3 videos for Dawn of the Planet of the Apes that show the decay of New York, San Francisco, and London over 10 years due to the outbreak of the "Simian Flu." While cool in concept, these videos are not that interesting. Thankfully, each is only 15 seconds long.
Ten years pass as the Simian Flu strikes around the world, causing mankind to cripple by dissension and the epidemic's effects. As cities deteriorate and the fabric of society dissolves, the dawn of a new era is about to begin.
A growing nation of genetically evolved apes led by Caesar is threatened by a band of human survivors of the devastating virus unleashed a decade earlier. They reach a fragile peace, but it proves short-lived, as both sides are brought to the brink of a war that will determine who will emerge as Earth's dominant species.
Dawn of the Planet of the Apes rides a horse and crushes your skull July 11th (USA).
Photo from Christopher Nolan's INTERSTELLAR
Hardly anything has been released for Christopher Nolan's upcoming sci-fi film, Interstellar. We will get a new trailer for it next week, but while we wait, here's a photo from the film featuring Matthew McConaughey holding what looks like a model of the lunar lander. It also features co-stars Timothée Chalamet and Mackenzie Foy. I can't wait to see what the next trailer has to offer.
The adventures of a group of explorers who make use of a newly discovered wormhole to surpass the limitations on human space travel and conquer the vast distances involved in an interstellar voyage.
The movie hits theaters on November 7th, 2014.
Spider-Man Wants in on The Avengers in this Animated Short
Here's a fun animated comedy sketch from CineFix that features Spider-Man trying to get in on some Avengers movie action. It would be amazing to see Spider-Man fight alongside these guys in the Marvel cinematic universe. It's something we all would love to see. Unfortunately, Marvel sold off the rights to the character when they were strapped for cash, and now it will never happen.
Sean Astin and Corey Feldman Discuss GOONIES Sequel
The Goonies sequel has been big news since director Richard Donnor surprisingly announced that it was going was going to happen last month. It was later revealed that Steven Spielberg wrote the story for the film, and that there is an outline. Now according to Sean Astin and Corey Feldman producers are actively working on securing a screenwriter to write the script.
The two Goonies actors recently appeared on Huff Post Live, and they talked about the sequel for a bit. They offered a few updates on what's going on with it, and how they got the news. It's awesome to hear that things are movie forward! Astin had this little update to offer:
"I happen to know that they are actively trying to secure a writer based on an outline that they feel really confident about. When Steven [Spielberg], who ultimately is the decision-maker on this, when he has felt the magic and he and [The Goonies director Richard Donner] are in agreement, which I believe will happen, then it will be a thing."
I truly believe that The Goonies 2 is going to happen, and I could be more excited about seeing the old gang back together again for another Goonies adventure!
Cool Video Game Poster Art by Alex Ramallo
I recently got back into playing video games after a break I took because life got way too crazy and complicated for a bit. I'm wishing I had never stopped because now I find that playing video games is very therapeutic. Anyway, here's an awesome set of video game poster art created by from Alex Ramallo, featuring games such as Mass Effect, Portal 2, Bioshock, Tomb Raider, and more. These would make some great prints! Thanks to Geekynerfherder for the heads up!
Trailer for Disney's ALEXANDER AND THE TERRIBLE, HORRIBLE, NO GOOD, VERY BAD DAY
Disney has released the first trailer for their big screen adaptation of the classic 1972 children's book, Alexander and the Terrible, Horrible, No Good, Very Bad Day. The film stars Steve Carell, Jennifer Garner, Dylan Minnette, Ed Oxenbould, Kerris Dorsey, Megan Mullally, Jennifer Coolidge, and Bella Thorne. It looks like a fun, drawn-out adaptation of the book that kids will enjoy. Maybe some adults will as well. I'm not excited about the movie, but I wouldn't mind taking my kids to see it.
Disney’s “Alexander and the Terrible, Horrible, No Good, Very Bad Day” follows the exploits of 11-year-old Alexander (Ed Oxenbould) as he experiences the most terrible and horrible day of his young life—a day that begins with gum stuck in his hair, followed by one calamity after another. But when Alexander tells his upbeat family about the misadventures of his disastrous day, he finds little sympathy and begins to wonder if bad things only happen to him. He soon learns that he’s not alone when his mom (Jennifer Garner), dad (Steve Carell), brother (Dylan Minnette) and sister (Kerris Dorsey) all find themselves living through their own terrible, horrible, no good, very bad day. Anyone who says there is no such thing as a bad day just hasn't had one.
The movie comes out on October 10th, 2014.
