We’ve got great new trailer for HBO’s upcoming Entourage movie, which looks like a hell of a lot of fun. I’m a fan of the series and its characters. Seeing them all back together making Ari’s life a living hell is going to be a blast. The new trailer hails from the U.K. and features some entertaining new footage as well as highlights several of the cameos that we’ll see in the film.

Entourage, the much-anticipated big-screen version of the award-winning hit HBO series, reunites the show’s original cast, led by Kevin Connolly, Adrian Grenier, Kevin Dillon, Jerry Ferrara, Jeremy Piven and special guests Mark Wahlberg, Piers Morgan, Thierry Henry, Liam Neeson, Jessica Alba and many more.
Movie star Vincent Chase (Grenier), together with his boys, Eric (Connolly), Turtle (Ferrara) and Johnny (Dillon), are back…and back in business with super agent-turned-studio head Ari Gold (Piven). Some of their ambitions have changed, but the bond between them remains strong as they navigate the capricious and often cutthroat world of Hollywood.
Also starring are Billy Bob Thornton and Haley Joel Osment as father and son, Larsen and Travis McCredle. Returning cast from the series also includes Perrey Reeves as Ari Gold’s wife; Emmanuelle Chriqui as Sloan; Rhys Coiro as Billy Walsh; Debi Mazar as Vince’s publicist, Shauna; Rex Lee as Lloyd; Constance Zimmer as Dana Gordon; and Nora Dunn as Dr. Marcus. Emily Ratajkowski appears as herself. Rounding out the cast are Alan Dale, who appeared in the series, rapper Scott Mescudi, and Rhonda Rousey.

The movie hits theaters on June 5th!

Yesterday, Marvel dropped a new Ant-Man trailer that seemed to spark a lot of excitement in the fans. I loved what I saw in that trailer, and this movie looks like it's going to be amazingly entertaining, especially with its great mix of action and comedy.

Mr. Sunday Movies, who created this Daredevil Easter egg video, released a new video that points out six things we may have missed in the Ant-Man trailer. The new trailer offered us a lot more information about the film, but why not dive into it a little bit more? Check out the video below, and then let us know if there's anything that you caught in the trailer that the video may have missed.

CAPTAIN AMERICA: CIVIL WAR Will Shoot Using IMAX/Arri Cameras

I love movie technology, and the company at the forefront is IMAX. Their theater experience is unmatched and continually evolving. Part of what makes movies look incredible in IMAX is when they are shot in its native format. The major drawback is how loud, heavy, and cumbersome these 70mm cameras are, which can really slow a production down.

Arri makes arguably the best film cameras, digital cameras, and lenses. In partnership, IMAX and Arri have developed a next generation IMAX digital camera based on the Alexa 65.

Captain America: Civil War will be the first movie to use these new cameras. At least 15 minutes or one major sequence will be shot in the large format.

Co-director Joe Russo told Variety:

“We like being on the cutting edge of technology, and we like to enhance storytelling with technology in a way that pushes the narrative forward creatively. When you’re working on a Marvel film, there’s a sense of showmanship that goes along with the movies, and no exhibitor exploits that better than Imax.”

Because of how small these digital system are/becoming, it's entirely possible that a future blockbuster could be shot completely using these new cameras.

Captain America: Civil War opens in theaters May 6th, 2016 (USA).

Superheroes Vs. Video Game Characters in Fan Art Set

Here are a couple pieces of fan art that feature superheroes locked in battles with the main characters of hit video games. The first one pits Wolverine against Kratos from God of War, and the second has Batman battling Ezio from Assassin’s Creed. These were made by DeviantArt user MrEdgyart, and they turned out awesome. In all seriousness, who do you think would win in each of these battles? Do you think Kratos could destroy Wolverine? Or that Batman could beat the hell out of Ezio? They are both really good match ups!

First Look at Bryan Cranston's Titanium Rex in SUPERMANSION

This is our first look at Bryan Cranston's elderly superhero character Titanium Rex, whom he voices in Crackle's upcoming stop-motion animated comedy called SuperMansion. The story centers on Rex and a few other elderly superheroes who make up a team called The League of Freedom. They all live together in the same mansion, and the series follows their attempt to stay relevant in the modern world.

SuperMansion is a satire comic book series that was created by Zeb Wells and Matthew Senreich of Robot Chicken. There was a pilot episode for the series that aired on Adult Swim in 2013 called "Übermansion." The other actors who will be lending their voices to characters in the series include Seth Green (Robot Chicken), Keegan Michael Key (Key & Peele), who are reprising their roles from the pilot. The cast also includes Jillian Bell (22 Jump Street).

If you want to watch the pilot episode, click here. This is a great concept for a series, and knowing that it comes from Stoopid Buddy Stoodios, we can rest assured that it's going to be funny.

Ultron Crashes Avengers Party in 2 Clips From AVENGERS: AGE OF ULTRON

Marvel continues their blitz of pumping out promotional material for Avengers: Age of Ultron with two new clips and a featurette. The clips appeared on Jimmy Kimmel Live, and they can both be watched in the embed below. The first clip features an early version of Ultron interrupting a fun little get together that the Avengers are having at Avengers Tower. It includes some new footage mixed in with stuff we've seen in the past. The second clip features Ultron having a little talk with the superhero team after he crashes the party.

I've also included a featurette for the film called "No Strings Attached." It gives us even more footage from the movie as the cast and crew discuss the origins of James Spader's artificial intelligence villain.

I wonder how much more we'll see from the film before it finally opens on May 1st. As long as it's not ruining major plot points, twists, or the ending, I'm good with watching whatever they throw at us.

We've posted a couple other Avengers related posts today that you can see at the following links: Iron Man Fights Ultron in New Clip and TV Spots for AVENGERS: AGE OF ULTRON and The Avengers Play Family Feud and More on Jimmy Kimmel Live.

Review: JOJO'S BIZARRE ADVENTURE

$
0
0

The first season of JoJo's Bizarre Adventure is far and away the best this series has to offer across the board. Truth be told, if it weren't for the second and third series, it would easily top the list of my favorite anime of all time. We'll dive further into my gripes with Stardust Crusaders here in a bit but, for now, let's focus on the positive. The first season of this series had it all, and when I say "all," I mean...

  • Intense action sequences
  • Excessive gore
  • Evil Vampires
  • Late 19th Century scenery
  • Kung fu
  • Classic rock references galore
  • Jack The Ripper exploding out of a horse corpse

That just touches on some of the things you see that make you say, "Okay, this show earns having 'bizarre' in its title." Following characters named DIO, Robert E.O. Speedwagon, and Jonathan Joestar, we are pulled into this 2,000-year old war reviving in 19th century England. I can't really go too much into the plot because I will invariably spoil some of the crazy twists that make this series so great, but I will tell you this is a series that needs some time to develop.

First episode in, you'll think you are just watching some basic cheese ball anime with an Americanized pop art style, and you are, but things develop very quickly from Episode 2 on. Rather intentionally I would presume, the series gets progressively weirder as it goes. It's something to appreciate, as you begin to develop a love for the story before you become enamored to the quirkiness and BIZARRENESS (omg he said it) it's known for.

This series looks beautiful, which is hilarious as Japanese audiences panned its art style, citing it as "cheap" upon its release. This is supposedly because Jojo's Bizarre Adventure is the most commercially successful manga on the market and its art style is supposedly museum level, but I ain't reading manga so I think the s*** looks great. You will too, and if you're a classic animist connoisseur like I am, you'll love the random color swap scenes ala most '90s anime.

Like I mentioned before, I won't go into the first season's plot too much but just to give you a brief 'what-you're-getting-into' sort of synopsis, here's what you need to know:

  • This series is about a 2,000-year war between two tribes: Hamon and The Pillar Men. Hamon users possess supreme superhuman abilities through altered breathing, and Pillar Men are a dominant race of human species who wish to convert humanity into a new era of existence.
  • The story primarily takes place throughout the course of the 20th century. Lots of old world goodness to be seen.
  • There will be twists, and some won't make sense. But don't worry, the bizarreness of the show will make it forgiven.
  • Dio is a bad mother*****

In terms of evil anime villains, Dio may very well top my list in the first episode. Sure, I've seen others slaughter planets, children, entire galaxies... but nothing will wrench your gut more than witnessing a dog being cooked alive inside of a wood-fired oven. I almost turned it off because I was so distressed over an imaginary dog, and I think that's when this series won my love. It's also its ending credits that gave me a love for the band Yes.

This series capitalizes on grizzly action and gut wrenching heartache. And at 9 hours, it's worth your time. The only downside? After it's over you'll really want to see where the story continues from there and then you'll really be disappointed when you experience...

JOJO's Bizarre Adventure: Stardust Crusaders

That title alone should tell you this is not what the first series is. Let me begin by saying that Stardust Crusaders is not at all bad, but it is in no way as good as the first season by any stretch. In fact, the only reason I held onto it was that tiny glimmer of hope that it was all a slow burn to return to the series' original form. Instead, I was exposed to a changed product that was just lesser in every respect.

Gone is the power of Hamon and Kung fu, and instead everyone has this new thing called a Stand. Stands are basically spirits within your body that fight and have special powers. Things aren't nearly as bizarre, and the whole thing plays out like some crappy marriage of Sailor Moon, Zatch Bell, and Johnny Quest. Each character, including the now Japanese Joestar Jotaro, are very much paper thin in terms of character, and no character becomes developed enough for you to gain any attachment.

Dammit, it's just so okay and that's not enough after watching such a fantastic first season. I do recommend you watch the first season, but the finale will make you want to watch the rest and you'll be disappointed. It's okay, just hold onto that first season and power through the rest.

Charmingly Creepy Short Film about Monsters Who Make Nightmares

We have a crazy short film for you to watch today called "How to Make a Nightmare," which envisions a fantasy world where people's nightmares are created in underground laboratories operated by disgusting looking creatures. The story follows one of these creatures as he falls in love with one of his victims, and this event sparks an insane situation that spirals out of control.

The film was directed by Noah Aust and, as you'll see, it's a dark and intriguing short that mixes live action with wonderfully creepy stop-motion animation. There's a lot of ghoulish weirdness in this short, and I absolutely loved it. Since it deals with nightmares, the creators aren't really bound by any rules, and they just went for it.

Check out this amazingly cool digital illustration of Captain America wearing a suit of Iron Man type armor that was specifically built for the all-American hero. It was created by concept artist Abraão Segundo, and he calls it "Captain Iron." This is just such a badass design, and I had to share it with you. I know Cap doesn't really need armor like this, but a few layers of protection, advanced technology and weaponry couldn't hurt.

Marvel Had Several Phase 3 Movie Plans With and Without Spider-Man

marvel-had-several-phase-3-movie-plans-with-and-without-spider-man

Back in 2014, Marvel Studios President Kevin Feige announced the third phase of Marvel Studios' master plan. A few months later, Spider-Man was added to the roster. Sony Pictures and Marvel were in talks during this time trying to figure out how they would make it all work. Well, thankfully it did work out and Spider-Man will be making his first appearance in the MCU in Captain America: Civil War

It's normal to think that the addition of Spider-Man would really change things up in Marvel's plans for their upcoming films, but apparently that's not the case. In an interview with /Film, Feige was asked how drastically they had to update their plans when the inclusion of Spider-Man was made official. Here was his reply:

"As you might have imagined, that had been in the works for a long, long, long, long time. And we had, as we often do, mapped out various alternatives if things don’t happen. So we had a plan how it would continue without him and we have a plan how now it will continue with him. I wouldn’t say it was 'drastic' but we were certainly happy when it all came together."

I'm sure that the creative team at Marvel develops multiple scenarios for all of their productions with multiple characters before they move forward with them. It's also interesting to note that Marvel was confident enough in the fact that they would get Spider-Man back that they made sure they had a plan in place to implement him.

We reported earlier today that Spider-Man will play around in the MCU through 2019 with the conclusion of Avengers: Infinity War. There's no word on what will happen beyond that, but hopefully he sticks around.

Pixelated Avengers, He-Man, and Adventure Time Art by James Boorman

Pixel art is modern day impressionism mixed with the previous limitations of computers and consoles. Artist James Boorman has created a series of 29 characters from comic books, movies, TV shows, and video games. It's amazing how much of the characters' personality and design translate into a 25x25 pixel grid. Boorman pieces are not true 8-bit because he's using color variations beyond the technical limits of the 70s/80s technology, but they are still well rendered.

New Details on the Future of Hulk and Scarlet Witch in the MCU

$
0
0

The Marvel news continues to roll in thanks to a press conference held for the film this past weekend. Thanks to some of the interviews that were conducted, we've been given a lot of information regarding the Marvel cinematic universe and where it's going.

We have some additional information to share with you that deals with the future of Hulk and Scarlet Witch, who both appear in Avengers: Age of Ultron. I will warn you, that this is SPOILER-filled information, so proceed at your own risk.

Yesterday, we reported that the reason why Hulk wasn't getting another solo film anytime soon is because Universal Pictures still holds the rights to the character. So it seems like they are going to have to be creative in finding new ways to keep him appearing in the MCU.

At the end of Avengers: Age of Ultron, the Hulk is shot out into the atmosphere in a Quinjet. He's not in outer space, just kind of floating around between space and Earth. This means that the future of the Hulk could go two ways. He could crash land back on Earth or he could be taken out into deep space. According to Badass Digest, Marvel was considering bringing Hulk into Guardians of the Galaxy 2. They explain that since Marvel can't make a standalone Planet Hulk movie, they could use Guardians 2 as a way to "back door it." Apparently, this is something they were going to do if the first Guardians of the Galaxy bombed at the box office.

There's no official word on if that's the route they will take it, though. Mark Ruffalo admits that he doesn't know where the Hulk is going to end up, but he is open to a Planet Hulk movie if it happens. He did say in an interview with IGN that Hulk is going to space, and that "there's some talk of maybe Planet Hulk." So who knows where exactly he'll end up? But I think outer space might be a great option.

As for Scarlet Witch, it looks like the next time we'll see her after Age of Ultron will be in Captain America: Civil War, which is something that was previously rumored. In another interview with Badass Digest, we learn that a few of the shots meant for Captain Marvel in Age of Ultron went to Scarlet Witch, including her costume reveal at the end of the movie. Feige explains:

"The way we reveal Scarlet Witch [in costume] at the end of the movie? Those were Captain Marvel plate shots. Joss said, ‘We’ll cast her later!’ And I said, ‘Yeah Joss, we’ll cast her later.’ [Whispers to an invisible associate who isn't Joss] ‘We’re not putting her in there!’"

He then confirms that she will make the move to Civil War saying:

"Finally Joss was like ‘Let’s use those plates to let Scarlet Witch fly into frame, give her a big entrance?’ And that makes sense - she’s come to their side, and she deserves the cool intro, which will feed into another movie we start shooting in a few weeks."

The movie they start shooting in a few weeks is Captain America: Civil War. So there ya have it! There's no word on how big her role will be in the film, but she'll be there.

Tactical Avengers Superhero Under Armour Gear

As cool as the actors from Avengers: Age of Ultron look in their costumes, they have undergarments that they wear under them that are equally as awesome. Gizmodo got an inside look at the technology that went into creating this tactical superhero gear.

Marvel teamed up with the athletic clothing company Under Armour to help create a set of wicked cool base layers for each of the main characters in the movie such as Iron Man, Black Widow, Captain America, Hawkeye, Thor, and Quicksilver. Costume designer Alexandra Byrne worked on this challenge with them, and she wanted the best cutting-edge gear that would keep the stars of the film comfortable as they went out and fought a horde of evil robots day after day.

You will be happy to know that Under Armour has already started selling replicas of this gear that was used in Age of Ultron! So for those of you who get out for a little exercise every now and then, now you can do it Avengers style! The undergarments that were created are pretty spectacular. Not only do they look great, but the technology that went into them has been described as “something out of the future.” These are the ultimate underoos, and you can click here to read about everything that went into developing the gear.

We have a video featurette for you to watch that takes us behind-the-scenes of the costume making process. Below that you will find some more photos of the Avengers Under Armour.

BATMAN V SUPERMAN: DAWN OF JUSTICE — Teaser Trailer Coming Thursday, Plus Details on Special Screenings

According to El Mayimbe of Latino-Review, you will get your first glimpse of Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice at 9am this Thursday with the release of a teaser trailer — only an hour before Star Wars: The Force Awakens panel during Star Wars Celebration. This sounds like a ballsy move on the part of Warner Bros.

You will also be able to signup for a special screening of the full trailer in theaters near you this coming Monday, April 20th. These special in-theater events are pretty fun and bring out the most interesting crowds. Odds are high that after the trailer hits those special screening that the full trailer will make its way online.

We won't have to wait long to find out if this rumor is true. Based on how quickly other reputable sites picked this up it seems like a studio "leak." El Mayimbe has very good WB sources so this rumor has real weight.

Latino-Review also reports that the full trailer will be attached to Avengers: Age of Ultron, which would align with the international release date of April 22nd. Obviously/sadly, we have to wait until May 1st in the USA.

RT! HUGE #BatmanvSuperman RUMOR! Zack Snyder at 9am on Thursday, an hour before the start of Star Wars celebration will tweet the first five seconds of the new #BatmanvSupermanDawnofJustice trailer on his Twitter. You will then be able to sign up to view the full trailer in a theater on Monday April 20th. Also, the trailer will in fact be in front of prints of #AVENGERS #AGEOFULTRON! BOOM! #dc #marvel

THE INCREDIBLES 2: Brad Bird Talks Superheroes and Development

$

The Incredibles is Pixar Studios' only superhero film and came it out back in 2004. Now superhero films are peppered across the year. 2016 and 2017 have about seven movies each for a total of 14 over a two year span.

Director Brad Bird recently said that he's already been writing the script for The Incredibles sequel. Bird spoke to the UK magazine Little White Lies about adding his own touch to what seems like an increasingly crowed genre:

"Well, I worry if you comment too much on other movies then you might just be coasting off their good will. There was a very lazy trend in comedy where somebody would start singing the theme song from The Flintstones and you're supposed to dig on it just because you recognize it. So I don't like that."

I wonder who that's a dig at? Bird continues:

"I think that movies ought to work in and of themselves. However… I would say that the superhero movie turf right now is very trodden over — it's kind of like a field that's had too many games on it, and it's just dried up dirt at this point."

This makes me wonder if The Incredibles 2 is about a world with too many superheroes. It would be an interesting commentary on the genre.

The biggest reason that these comic-book adaptations are doing so well is because visual effects are so insanely good. There seems to be nearly no limitations if you've got a big enough budget. But effects is never what made The Incredibles special. Bird on characters:

"I think that the greatest special effect is caring about a character. A lot of movies seem to forget that, and they bring out a lot of fireballs and then wonder why the fireballs don't have that much impact, no matter how loud and how big they are. But the truth is that the fireball isn't that exciting unless you care about the person running from it."

The most recent crop of superhero films are much better than the previous generations. I don't think I've yet seen things turn cartoonish. Bird on developing The Incredibles 2:

"It can be fun, and certainly I had a blast getting to do the action sequences in The Incredibles, but that's the dessert. Every movie is kind of a risk, and you're thrown into a new pool and you haven't learned how to swim in it yet, so I'm going to bumble along and make the same mistakes that I usually do and hopefully spot them and correct them. I really love those characters and that aspect of getting to be with them again is exciting to me."
