THE WALKING DEAD Infographics Reveal Kill Counts, Who's Still Alive, and More

The Walking Dead recently wrapped up its fifth season on AMC, and while a new spin-off called Fear The Walking Dead is coming soon (see the first teaser trailer here), an Imgur user who goes by MorbidMalignant has created a detailed series of infographics for the previous seasons of the popular original series. There are a range of infographics presenting the kill counts of each of the main characters; another takes stock of who is alive, dead, and unaccounted for after each season; yet another racks up the highest body count of specific episodes; and another list breaks down individual stats for each character. It's a pretty staggering amount of statistics, and this must have taken a long, long time to put together. I've included some of the most interesting ones below, but be sure to check out all of them here if you're a fan of the show.

Luke Grimes Will Co-Star in THE MAGNIFICENT SEVEN Remake

Antoine Fuqua is reuniting with his Training Day and The Equalizer star Denzel Washington for a remake of the classic western The Magnificent Seven, and though this project has been around for years (Tom Cruise and John Travolta were once rumored to star), it sounds like it's finally moving forward. Chris Pratt has signed on to star alongside Ethan Hawke (another Training Day alum), and though Vincent D'Onofrio was initially rumored to be playing the villain, The L.A. Times reports that he's actually playing one of the seven heroes.

Now Variety has another addition to the cast: Luke Grimes, who's had roles in American Sniper, True Blood, and Fifty Shades of Grey. There's no word yet on who exactly he'll play, but if he ends up being one of the seven, then there are only three more left to cast to round out the new rendition of that cinematic team. I'm not super familiar with Grimes' work, but he definitely seems like the odd man out when it comes to this film's casting choices so far.

True Detective creator Nic Pizzolatto wrote the initial draft of the screenplay, and since then John Lee Hancock has rewritten it. The original movie followed a group of seven gunfighters who work together to help protect a Mexican village from bandits. Production begins next month, so expect more casting news to hit soon. The Magnificent Seven is slated for release in January of 2017.

BACK TO THE FUTURE and FAST & FURIOUS Crossover Movie Trailer!

We've got an awesome April Fools' Day trailer from IGN that gives us a trailer for a Back to the Future and Fast & Furious crossover film called Fast to the Future. It features Vin Diesel behind the wheel of the DeLorean time machine. With a 21 Jump Street and Men In Black crossover film actually in the works, it's not too far fetched to think that a movie like Fast to the Future could also happen one day. The trailer is cut together really well, and I think you'll all get a kick out of it, so check it out when you get a chance!

Creepy New POLTERGEIST Poster Knows What Scares You

A new poster has been released for Sam Raimi and Gill Kenan’s Poltergeist. As you can see, it features that damn terrifying clown! The tagline reads, “They Know What Scares You.” Creepy clowns are definitely on my list, and that’s all thanks to the clown doll from the original movie! Good grief, that thing freaked me the hell out when I was a kid. I never looked at clowns the same way again.

Legendary filmmaker Sam Raimi (producer) reimagines and contemporizes the classic tale about a family whose suburban home is invaded by angry spirits. When the terrifying apparitions escalate their attacks and take the youngest daughter, the family must come together to rescue her.

The horror movie stars Rosemary DeWitt, Sam Rockwell, Jared Harris, and Jane Adams, and it will be released on May 22nd. To watch the latest trailer for the movie, click here.

So, what scares you?

Every Kill From Season 5 of THE WALKING DEAD in One Video

0

Earlier today, we posted a bunch of infographics from The Walking Dead that included kill counts, which characters were still alive and accounted for, and more. Those are pretty cool and very detailed, but I'm not going to turn down a good old fashioned supercut if I have the opportunity to share one with you.

The Cinema Nut has cut together every single kill (Walker or human) from the show's recently concluded fifth season, and — as you know if you're already caught up — it can get pretty graphic (well, as graphic as cable TV allows). Seeing all of the season's violence in one seven minute stretch actually makes me sort of numb to the whole thing. What do you think?

Linda Cardellini and Julie Delpy Have Mystery Roles in AVENGERS: AGE OF ULTRON

Disney e-mailed me a "tip sheet" for the premiere of Avengers: Age of Ultron earlier this morning. It's basically a press release that lets entertainment media know who is going to show up and walk the red carpet for the premiere so they know who they'll be interviewing.  Since I'm going to be out of town during the Hollywood premiere later this month, I immediately sent it to the trash without even really glancing at it. These things never have any interesting information on them, especially when you're not even covering the event.

But it appears that I should have actually taken the time to look closer, because /Film pointed out that in the section of the tip sheet that announces which of the people from the actual movie are going to be there, two new names are listed: Linda Cardellini (Freaks and Geeks), and Julie Delpy (Before Midnight). There are also names like Paul Rudd, Chadwick Boseman, and other Marvel-related people who aren't in Age of Ultron, but Cardellini and Delpy are specifically listed among the cast members. Why is this the first time we're hearing about their involvement with this movie?

Well, it's probably because they aren't playing huge roles in it. Chances are we would have heard if either one of them was going to be someone worth getting excited about, so they'll probably have about two minutes of screen time shared between them — especially since this film is completely packed with characters already. Still, it's cool that Marvel has brought these ladies on in some capacity, since both are very, very talented. Cardellini starred on the cult classic Freaks and Geeks before moving on to ER and having prominent roles in Mad Men and Netflix's Bloodline. Delpy, a writer/director in addition to being an actress, is best known for Richard Linklater's Before trilogy (Sunrise/Sunset/Midnight) and directing 2 Days in Paris and 2 Days in New York, among other things.

We're very curious as to what they'll be doing in Avengers: Age of Ultron, and if they'll appear in any future Marvel projects in the wake of what's sure to be one of the biggest films of the year. Any guesses as to which characters they might be playing?

A talented sculptor by the name of Katuhisa Yamaguchi has released a series of amusing photos. They feature some custom made Star Wars action figures that he created, particularly with R2-D2, who is portrayed in the images as a ridiculous looking badass. The droid has been transformed into a steroid fueled muscular robot freak, a samurai warrior, and a chain gun-wielding maniac.

Japan's GODZILLA Movie Gets Teaser Art and ATTACK ON TITAN Directors

japans-godzilla-movie-gets-teaser-art-and-attack-on-titan-directors1

With the worldwide success of Gareth Edwards' 2014 Godzilla, the interest in the legendary monster has skyrocketed. Everyone who enjoyed Edwards' vision are quietly anticipating the release of the sequel on June 8, 2018. Well, if you can’t wait that long, there's a Japanese version of Godzilla in development.

Last year, we reported that Toho Studio, the parent company that is leasing Godzilla rights to Warner Brothers, is making their own Godzilla movie in Japan. Variety announced that Hideaki Anno and Shinji Higuchi will be co-directing the movie that will be released in 2016. The directors are known for their work on Neon Genesis Evangelion and the upcoming live-action adaptation of Attack on Titan.

Anno will be penning the film and Higuchi will be taking care of the SFX. The two have previously worked together on the anime series Evanglion

Toho released this statement:

Ever since Hollywood announced that ‘Godzilla’ was to be resurrected, the expectation for another Japanese Godzilla grew. And if we were to newly produce, we looked into Japanese creators who were the most knowledgeable and who had the most passion for Godzilla

With this statement, they also released the teaser image above to go with it.

This is going to be an interesting situation. It is said that the Toho version of Godzilla is going to be released worldwide. What does this mean for the franchise? How will this affect Edwards' sequel? If I were Toho, I would worry about flooding the market. Do you think this will help the franchise or hurt it?

Ryan Reynolds Confirms DEADPOOL Will Be Rated R in Hilarious Video

ryan-reynolds-confirms-deadpool-r-rating-in-hilarious-video

Earlier today, Ryan Reynolds started tweeting about the Deadpool movie, making us all believe that the film would be rated PG-13 and that fans shouldn't be worried about it. Well, I fell for the April Fools' Day joke, and now we have a hilarious video for you to watch in which the actor and Deadpool confirm that the movie will in fact be Rated R.

The R-rating for Deadpool is not a joke. This whole joke was wonderfully orchestrated by 20th Century Fox, and even though the movie is still in production, they are aiming for the R-rating. So Deadpool fans can rejoice!

The movie is set to be released on February 12th, 2016. Enjoy the video. Thanks to JoBlo. And yes,  that is Reynolds in costume.

Based upon Marvel Comics’ most unconventional anti-hero, DEADPOOL tells the origin story of former Special Forces operative turned mercenary Wade Wilson, who after being subjected to a rogue experiment that leaves him with accelerated healing powers, adopts the alter ego Deadpool. Armed with his new abilities and a dark, twisted sense of humor, Deadpool hunts down the man who nearly destroyed his life.

First Trailer For THE GIFT, A Psychological Thriller Directed By Joel Edgerton

Well, this is a nice surprise. Here's the first trailer for The Gift, the directorial debut of actor Joel Edgerton (he also wrote the screenplay). It stars Jason Bateman and Rebecca Hall as a married couple, and Edgerton himself as a former acquaintance of Bateman's character who inserts himself into their lives and becomes a menace as he hints at a dark secret.

Edgerton has been a part of the Australian film collective Blue Tongue Films for years, so I'm excited to see his breakout directorial feature. The movie hails from a new company called STX Entertainment, and they've teamed with Blumhouse Productions (Paranormal Activity, The Purge, Whiplash) to bring it to theaters. It looks pretty good to me — almost like a throwback to '90s films like Martin Scorsese's Cape Fear and the Michael Keaton movie Pacific HeightsThe Gift arrives on July 31st.

Can you really go through life having never wronged anyone? Even if you are unaware of how, or when, and even who you may have wronged....chances are there is someone out there who won't ever forget it...or you.

Simon (Jason Bateman) and Robyn (Rebecca Hall) are a young married couple whose life is going just as planned until a chance encounter with an acquaintance from Simon's high school sends their world into a harrowing tailspin. Simon doesn't recognize Gordo (Joel Edgerton) at first, but after a seemingly coincidental series of encounters proves troubling, a horrifying secret from their past is uncovered after nearly 20 years. As Robyn learns the unsettling truth about what happened between Simon and Gordo, she starts to question: how well do we really know the people closest to us, and are past bygones ever really bygones?

From the producer of Whiplash and The Purge, Jason Blum, comes a chilling psychological thriller that marks the feature directorial debut of acclaimed actor and writer Joel Edgerton (The Great Gatsby, Zero Dark Thirty, Warrior).

Supercut Celebrates 25th Anniversary of GOODFELLAS

Martin Scorsese's modern classic Goodfellas turns 25 years old this September, and editor Miguel Branco has put together a three minute supercut celebrating the quintessential gangster movie. The film is often spoken of in just about equal terms with The Godfather and The Godfather Part II (Roger Ebert called it the best gangster movie ever made), and it kicked Scorsese's career to the next level. He had directed hits before with Taxi Driver and Raging Bull, but among the filmmaker's terrific filmography, this one is right up there contending for his best effort yet. It's a true cinematic classic, and a movie that rewards repeat viewings. Check out this supercut below, and let us know what you think.

Millenniums Films has cast Stephen Dorff as Texas Ranger Hal Hartman in The Texas Chainsaw Massacre prequel Leatherface. He will join Sam Strike, who will be taking on the role of a young character named Jackson. That character will eventually become the chainsaw wielding serial killer.

Deadline announced the casting and gave a brief synopsis of the upcoming movie:

The film centers around a violent teen who one day will become Leatherface.  He escapes from a mental hospital with three other inmates, kidnaps a young nurse and takes her on a road trip from hell. Along the way, they are pursued by an equally deranged lawman out for revenge.

The movie will be directed by French filmmakers Julien Maury and Alexandre Bustillo, who are behind the cult hit Inside. The script for the film was written by up-and-coming genre scribe Seth M. Sherwood. Currently, there is no solid release date, just some time in 2016.

Mondo's BACK TO THE FUTURE 2 Poster Art by Matt Taylor

Mondo has released a beautiful print for Back to the Future Part II that was created by Matt Taylor. A few months ago, he created a tribute poster for the first film in the trilogy, which you can check out here. Back to the Future has been one of my favorite film franchises since I was a kid, and I hope it never gets rebooted. In case you missed it yesterday, though, a great fake trailer was released for a Back to the Future and Fast & Furious crossover movie that you can check out here.

Here’s a statement from Taylor about why he decided to make it:

“When I did the BTTF poster last year for Thought Bubble I was determined to try and create a poster that didn’t feature the Delorean because – as I said at the time – I thought Laurent Durieux and Phantom City Creative had made the definitive DeLorean posters. But as it happened, I just couldn’t let the opportunity pass to draw that iconic car, seeing as the Mondo guys were so good as to let me take a swing at the second movie. And anyway, everyone knows the flying DeLorean is so much cooler than the original.”

This poster goes on sale today at a random time. Just keep an eye on @MondoNews for the time.

Haunting New Trailer for POLTERGEIST

haunting-new-trailer-for-poltergeist

We've got a creepy new full trailer for Sam Raimi and Gil Kenan's Poltergeist remake for you to watch. This was a movie that I was completely against when it was first announced because I'm a huge fan of the original film that inspired it. But the more I see of this new movie, the more excited I get about watching it. It seems like the creative talent behind the film did a solid job of bringing the story to life. Talking about the film project in a previous interview, Kenan said,

“Whenever someone approaches material that’s so beloved, there’s a reflexive reaction to be worried. It’s a responsibility we take very seriously. We’re working to make a Poltergeist film that lives up to the original’s legacy. Unlike the traditional horror film, I wanted to put together a cast to give weight and reality to these characters. It’s the way to anchor the family. It’s such an emotional story at the core. Parents fighting to get their child back from the beyond.”

The story for the movie follows "a family whose suburban home is haunted by evil forces. When the terrifying apparitions escalate their attacks and hold the youngest daughter captive, the family must come together to rescue her before she disappears forever."

The movie stars Sam Rockwell (Eric Bowen), Rosemarie DeWitt (Amy Bowen), Saxon Sharbino (Kendra Bowen), Kyle Catlett (Griffin Bowen), Jared Harris (Carrigan), and Kennedi Clements (Madison Bowen). It will haunt theaters on July 24th.

Fully Functional Life-Size TRON Motorbike for Sale

fully-functional-life-size-tron-motorbike-for-sale

Tron: Legacy was a slick looking film, and I absolutely loved all of the designs that I saw in it. Especially the new designs of the lightcycles. I remember thinking to myself, "I would love to have one of those!" Well, a fully function version of the bike exists. It is an exact replica built for the Andrews Collection, which is one of America’s biggest and best car collections.

The bike is now being sold at auction, and it's in nearly brand new condition. It has only been ridden around the storage at the Andrews collection. The auction is being conducted by Sotheby’sand if you have $25,000 - $40,000 laying around, it could be yours.

I really wish I had the money for something like this, but here are the details:

96 volt, direct-drive electric motor with lithium batteries and a computer-controlled throttle, rebound and compression damping with spring-preload front suspension and rigid rear suspension, and front and rear hydraulic brakes.
  • A recreation of the Tron: Legacy motorcycle
  • Functional electric motorcycle
  • The ultimate homage for any fan
This custom electric vehicle was built especially for the Andrews Collection to recreate the unique motorcycles seen in the 2010 movie Tron: Legacy. It is a highly compelling work of mobile art that has an enduring connection to pop culture.

The bike was partially built by an outside firm and then sent to the Andrews’s own shop for completion. It is a fully functioning motorcycle that can be ridden, as it is powered by a direct-drive electric motor that has lithium batteries, which is mated to a computer-controlled digital electronic transmission. This custom Tron tribute boasts a very low seat height of 28.5 inches, making it easy to ride even at low speeds. The motorcycle is finished in black with a white stripe and boasts an imposing stance to match its performance.

After its completion by the Andrews’ in 2012, the bike has only been ridden around their facilities to ensure that it remains in functioning condition. As such, it is in as-new condition and would be an ideal piece for any collection of movie memorabilia. It is unlikely that a similar motorcycle will ever be produced or made available for purchase, making this a truly unique opportunity.

Chilling International Trailer for INSIDIOUS: CHAPTER 3

chilling-international-trailer-for-insidious-chapter-3

Insidious: Chapter 3 is one of my most anticipated movies of the year. I love this horror franchise, and this new film looks like it's going to be great! Sony Pictures has released the final international trailer the third chapter in the story, which is actually a prequel that takes place before the two previous films.

The newest chapter in the terrifying horror series is written and directed by franchise co-creator Leigh Whannell. This chilling prequel, set before the haunting of the Lambert family, reveals how gifted psychic Elise Rainier (Lin Shaye) reluctantly agrees to use her ability to contact the dead in order to help a teenage girl (Stefanie Scott) who has been targeted by a dangerous supernatural entity.

I'm pretty confident that this won't be the last Insidious movie that we see. The question is, will the future films continue to take us further back and give us details on how this insanity actually began, or will we eventually fast forward back to the present day? I loved how the first two films fit perfectly together. One thing that I do hope is that all of the movies connect in a similar way.

Insidious: Chapter 3 hits theaters on June 5th.

Amazing Fan Trailer for a Pixar-Style STAR WARS Movie — X-WINGS

amazing-fan-trailer-for-pixar-style-star-wars-x-wings-movie

A few years ago, a piece of fan art was created that gave us a look at what a Pixar/Disney style Star Wars animated movie might look like. Big Bee Studios takes that concept to an incredible new level with an entire animated fan trailer for a movie called X-Wings

This was one of the April Fools' Day jokes that popped up online yesterday and, as you'll see, it turned out pretty damn funny. I will warn you, though: the Darth Vader TIE fighter sings a song that will probably get stuck in your head the rest of the day.

It seems like there was a lot of work that went into making this thing, but it sure did pay off! Enjoy!

James Gunn Offers Update on GUARDIANS OF THE GALAXY 2

0
0

James Gunn recently announced a new film project that he wrote a script for called The Belco Experiment. It was picked up by MGM and will be going into production in June. While this is all happening the filmmaker has also been hard at work on writing Guardians of the Galaxy 2.

One of the last updates he gave for the highly anticipated sequel was that Marvel said his idea for it was "risky," but they loved it. Gunn has now given a new update on where the film is currently at in development, via the Periscope social media broadcasting app. He recently turned in his treatment for the film, and it has been approved by Marvel.

“I turned in my treatment. I’m going in to meet about it Friday and we will start working on the screenplay next week."

He also offered a few bits of other information about the movie, saying that Ronan the Accuser is definitely dead and is officially gone for good in the movie universe.  I enjoyed Lee Pace's portrayal of this character, and it kind of sucks that we won't seem him again, but he did die.

He went on to explain that the sequel will have a strong focus on characterizing the Guardians. The fans will get to know the characters in a "deeper way" this next time around. As for Karen Gillan's Nebula, Gunn may have found a way for her to play the villain without shaving her head again.

There were a few non-Guardians of the Galaxy things he talked about, as well. Some of those include his excitement regarding Spider-Man joining the MCU, how he like the trailer for the new Fantastic Four movie, and that his favorite supervillain is Heath Ledger's Joker.

Guardians of the Galaxy 2 will be released on May 5th, 2017.

GRAND THEFT AUTO V For PC Gets A 60 FPS Trailer

0
0

I haven't gotten around to trying the new online heists in Grand Theft Auto V yet, but even without that added element, the game is still one of the most entertaining things I've ever played. I actually think The Last of Us is a better game when you compare the two side by side, but in terms of open world greatness and the freedom to go off on insane rampages, it doesn't get any better than GTA V. PC gamers have been looking forward to getting the game for themselves ever since it debuted, and now their wait is finally almost over.

The PC version of the game drops on April 14th, and Rockstar has just unveiled a new 60 frames per second trailer that highlights some of the gorgeous locations and crazy action that PC gamers have to look forward to. Check it out:
