BATMAN V SUPERMAN Costume Designer Discusses Super Suits

0
0

Zack Snyder's Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice is going to introduce several heroes to the big screen to help launch Warner Bros' DC cinematic universe. We'll see Henry Cavill’s Superman, Ben Afleck’s Batman, Gal Gadot’s Wonder Woman, Jason Momoa’s Aquaman, and most likely Ezra Miller’s The Flash, and Ray Fisher’s Cyborg. All of these character need new costumes, and it must be a pretty big undertaking to be the person who is designing them — especially because the fan community is going to pick them apart.

While speaking with Fashionista, costume designer and Oscar nominee Michael Wilkinson discussed the process of coming up with these designs, and working with Snyder to get the look of the characters just right.

“(Zack) really wants these characters to connect directly to our world. So if you were walking down the street and you came across Superman or Batman — of course it would be startling and powerful — but it could actually happen in our world rather than in a stylized version of our reality.”

He goes on to say that giving Batman a flexible cowl was one of his first notes on the costume design. This is something that we haven't really seen in any of the previous Batman films.

“That’s actually one of the first things that Snyder mentioned to me in one of our initial meetings. It’s a very important thing to Zack that the Batsuit would be comfortable and very flexible, but then would be able to perform in a very natural and forceful way. So a lot of incredible engineering went into the development of the new black cowl…It’s no longer a designer just in his workroom pushing a costume out into the world and that’s it. There’s a real sense of a conversation and engaging in a dialogue about this stuff.”

Wilkinson also talked about about what its like getting the actors into their costumes. He reveals that it takes 15 minutes to get Cavill into his outfit and Affleck closer to 25 minutes — that's not exactly superhero speeds.

“It does involve multiple costumers. It’s not the sort of thing that I could just sit in Ben’s trailer and he gets into it himself. It’s a six-handed operation.”

I guess it's a good thing Bruce Wayne has Alfred to help him in and our of the thing. I would love to get a new, more detailed look at the Batman costume, so I hope we get a new image soon. When asked about Aquaman's costume, Wilkinson explains that it was a “huge challenge” because the superhero’s past character designs have made him not as “cool” as the other superheroes.

“People have a lot of complaints about the orange skin and the green tights and that whole thing.”

Well, as you saw from the image of Jason Mamoa that was released, they definitely did away with that stuff. A lot of fans have seemed to embrace the new costume design for him. While we wait for a trailer from the film, I'll keep updating you on anything interesting that comes out way.

Batman v Superman also stars Amy Adams, Laurence Fishburne, Diane Lane, Jesse Eisenberg, Jeremy Irons, Jena Malone, Holly Hunter and Scoot McNairy. It hits theaters on March 25th, 2016.

Arrow's Stephen Amell to Play Casey Jones in TEENAGE MUTANT NINJA TURTLES 2

Arrow star Stephen Amell has been cast in the role of fan-favorite character Casey Jones in Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles 2. The character was previously played by Elias Koteas in the 1990 New Line adaptation.

I'm a big fan of Amell, and he’s freakin' perfect for the part, but I hate that it has to be in this shitty franchise. I've got to say, this was a brilliant casting decision on the part of the the studio. There are a ton of people, like myself, that hated the first movie, but now many of them will come back to watch the sequel just because they will want to see Amell as Jones. But just because Amell is now involved doesn't mean the script or story are going to turn out any better.

The actor will join Megan Fox, who is set to return as April O’Neil, and Will Arnett as her sidekick. As of right now there are no plot details, but Rocksteady and Bebop are rumored to be a part of it, as is Krang.

David Green (Earth to Echo) is directing the sequel from a script written by Josh Appelbaum and André Nemecand Platinum Dunes’ Michael Bay, Brad Fuller, and Andrew Form will return to produce. Earth to Echo wasn't that good of a film, so I'm expecting the worst. I'm sure Amell will be the best part of the sequel.

The first movie also starred William Fichtner, Alan Ritchson, Jeremy Howard, Pete Ploszek, Noel Fisher, Danny Woodburn, Johnny Knoxville, and Tony Shalhoub. I'm sure a few of those actors will be coming back for the sequel as well.

Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles 2 is set for release on June 3rd, 2016. What do you all think about Amell playing Casey Jones?

Stan Lee Creates New Superhero for LUCKY MAN TV Series

0
0

Stan Lee, the Marvel Comics legend who created Spider-Man, Iron Man, X-Men, and more, has created a new superhero for an upcoming TV series for Sky1. The show is called Lucky Man, and it will star James Nesbitt (The Hobbit trilogy) as a detective who has the power to control his own luck.

This will be a 10-part series that will be produced by Carnival Films, the production company behind ITV’s popular period drama, Downton Abbey. Lee’s POW! Entertainment is also obviously part of the production. This is the first UK TV series that the 92-year-old Lee has been a part of, and he had this to say in a statement:

“Luck has always been a fascinating subject to me, and I am excited to finally share that fascination with audiences around the world. With all the creative projects I have worked on, I sure am a lucky man myself.”

Nesbitt will play Harry Clayton, "a London murder detective who is given a charm by a mysterious woman that enables him to make his own luck. The ancient bracelet signals a change in fortunes for Clayton, whose wife and child have left him and has run up a huge debt to an underworld crime boss who is threatening to kill him.”

Executive producer Richard Fell said,

Lucky Man is a different kind of superhero show – Stan has come up with an absolutely brilliant idea; something that we can all relate to.
“What if you could control luck? Would that be the greatest thing you could give someone, or their worst nightmare? It’s a twist which brings the whole superhero genre right back down to earth.”

The series was also described by Sky1 director Adam MacDonald as “mysterious, thrilling, energetic … a visually striking crime thriller”.

This actually sounds like an interesting series with a potentially great character. It seems like it might be one of the better ideas Lee has come up with in recent years.

It’s set to premiere on Sky1 next year, and will co-star Eve Best (The Honourable Woman), Sienna Guillory (Luther, Fortitude), and Amara Karan (The Darjeeling Limited).

PlayStation has announced that they will be releasing a sleek-looking Limited Edition Batman: Arkham Knight themed PlayStation 4 bundle. It makes me wish I had held off on getting a PS4, but how was I supposed to know something this awesome would be released!?

This special bundle comes in a Steel Grey PS4 system chassis with a cool custom Batman: Arkham Knight faceplate, a matching DualShock 4 wireless controller in Steel Grey and of course, the highly anticipated finale to Arkham trilogy, Batman: Arkham Knight. That bundle will be available for $449.99 (MSRP).

There’s also a more affordable bundle available that costs $399.99. That one includes a PS4 system and DualShock 4 controller in Jet Black as well as the game. Any gamers that buy Batman: Arkham Knight for PS4 will also have access to the bonus content before it’s available anywhere else. That includes additional in-game missions and custom skins for Batman and the Batmobile. All of this stuff will be available when both the bundles and the game launch on June 23rd.

This will most likely be the best game in the franchise, and I can’t wait to play the hell out of it. The digital pre-order for Batman: Arkham Knight is already live at the PlayStation Store. There’s also going to be additional special content, but there are currently no details on what that will entail.

First BATMAN V SUPERMAN Trailer Is Attached to MAD MAX: FURY ROAD

0

first-batman-v-superman-trailer-is-attached-to-mad-max-fury-road

There has been some rumor and speculation regarding when we might see the first trailer for Zack Snyder’s Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice. This is a trailer that fans have been eagerly waiting to see. If you were lucky enough to be at the Warner Bros. panel last year at San Diego Comic-Con, then you got to see some wicked cool teaser footage. That was never released officially online though.

Collider has confirmed through multiple sources that the studio will give us our first trailer for the film with the release of Mad Max: Fury Road. This makes complete sense as Fury Road is going to be a huge film for them. The site goes on to claim that the trailer will be attached to every copy of the film, so if you go see that movie, then you’re guaranteed to see the Batman v Superman trailer.

I initially thought it would be released with Avengers: Age of Ultron, but apparently the studio wanted to attach it to one of their own films. They also might not want it to buried in with all of the other trailers that will play before Age of Ultron, like the next one being released for Star Wars: The Force Awakens

The report claims that the studio also wants to wait a couple of weeks after all the conversation about Age of Ultron dies down. It’s definitely a smart marketing strategy because after Age of Ultron is out of the way, everyone will be talking about the new Batman v Superman trailer.

I imagine that the trailer will be released online shortly before or after Fury Road hits theaters. I just can’t wait to see more from this movie. The teaser shown at Comic-Con blew the audience away, and I can’t help but think the first full trailer for the film will put that to shame.

I’m really hoping that Snyder and the studio pulled off something badass with this movie. I wasn’t the biggest fan of Man of Steel, but Batman v Superman might have all the right ingredients for a great comic book movie.

New Details on the Villains of STAR WARS: THE FORCE AWAKENS

0

villainous-details-for-star-wars-the-force-awakens

We won’t have to wait much longer to discover all the mysteries shrouded in J.J. AbramsStar Wars: The Force Awakens. The director has said that some of the rumors that have been reported are true, and we’ll find out which of those rumors are true when the movie is released later this year. While we wait for that, we have a few more bits of information to share with you regarding the villains of the story.

The following information comes from Making Star Wars, and it’s a combination of facts that they’ve learned and speculation on how it could all fit together. There is a lot of SPOILER filled information here, so if you don’t want to know any more than you already do about the movie, I suggest that you turn back now.

Here are some of the points that they make in their discussion:

  • There are several villains in the story.

  • Kylo Ren is the new main villain, and he has the most screen time. The other villains don’t have much.

  • Andy Serkis’ character “Uber” has three short scenes.

  • Captain Phasma is is a female Boba Fett-type character, but she’s not in the film much. This character will grow through the course of the new trilogy.

  • Kylo Ren may have some interesting connections to the heroes in the story.

They go on to speculate on how it can all fit together:

“We know that when “Uber” wants to use the Catapult, Kylo is worried and he is told not to get “sentimental” by “Uber.” There’s a sequence in the middle of the film that sticks out to me, furthering that connection: Han Solo and Chewbacca pilot the Falcon. Rey and Finn are aboard. The Falcon is shot down by Kylo’s ship. The Falcon crashes onto the snow planet’s surface. Kylo and his troops track down the ship and Stormtroopers board it, followed by Kylo. Kylo walks into the cockpit of the Falcon and sits in the pilot’s seat and has a moment. That’s the hero’s sphere. You would never see Darth Vader do that. But Kylo does that. There’s almost an implication of remorse, maybe frustration, in that action to me. There’s emotion there. To me that says there’s a connection between Kylo, the ship and its pilot. It is almost as if he is sitting at the desk of the job he felt he would one day hold and now due to circumstances never will. Maybe Han is his father? We know this relationship ends badly though. He sits in the man’s chair before he kills him.

This could prove to be a very intriguing dynamic, if it plays out this way. They go on to briefly discuss a character called The General, played by Domhnall Gleeson. He is an Imperial Officer-type, and there is a moment where he has a “final check-in with his boss,” his Boss being Uber. There were rumors that The General was Luke Skywalkers’s son, but the report says they’ve seen no indication of that. The site thinks that the final check in with Uber will feature The General telling him that he has failed and the weapon is lost. They go on to say that The General eventually dies as some explosive charges are being detonated.

The site then talks about a three-way duel between Finn, Rey, and Ren. This is the description of that from the script:

CLIFF EDGE: Finn & Rey’s duel with Kylo Ren ends. Ground falls away behind Rey. Rey and Finn on precipice. Kylo Ren exits. Chewbacca arrives.

The site claims that the duel ends when the side of the mountain collapses. Kylo isn’t heard of again in The Force Awakens. There’s no word on if he falls to his death, or if he’ll show up in the next chapter of the story. They believe he isn't dead, though. It’s also at this point that Chewbacca shows up in a repaired Millennium Falcon and saves Rey and Finn from falling to their deaths.

They believe that there’s a chance Rey and Kylo are brother and sister, the children of Han Solo and Princess Leia.

There’s lots of great stuff here to digest and think about. We’ll just have to wait and see if it this is how it will all play out, or if we’ll be surprised by something different. I really do like the direction explained here, though. What do you all think of it?

Jared Leto Teases Possible Sinister Joker Voice at Concert

While we wait to see what Jared Leto looks like as the Joker in David Ayer's Suicide Squad, you can listen to what he might sound like. The video below was taken at a 30 Seconds to Mars concert, and during the show Leto stops and threatens to kill one of the audience members if they don't shut up. It's a pretty sinister sounding threat, especially when he goes into Joker voice mode. We're not sure that this is the actual voice that he'll be using, but he's prepping for the role, so I imagine that it will sound something like this. For the latest details on the Joker that will be introduced to us in Suicide Squad click here. Check out the video below, and let us know what you think of the voice. (Warning: Leto's Joker is somewhat profane, so the video may be NSFW.)

2-intense-gotham-spots-tease-the-final-four-episodes

I don't know about you, but I'm anxious to see Gotham return so that we can see how the final four episodes play out. I've really missed the show since it has been on hiatus. Fox has released a couple of spots for the series for you to watch, and they give us an intense look at what we will see in the final episodes of the first season. As you'll see, there's a lot of awesomeness coming our way, and there's a lot that's going to happen before the season ends.

The next episode is called "Under the Knife," and it's set to premiere on April 20th. Here's a synopsis for the episode that has been released:

Gordon and Bullock continue to investigate the Ogre (guest star Milo Ventimiglia), who begins to make his move on someone close to Gordon. Meanwhile, Bruce and Selina team up to expose a corrupt Wayne Enterprises employee and Nygma comes to Kristin Kringle’s defense.

Hopefully these spots tide you over until the series returns. The second spot is similar to the first, but it does contain some additional footage.

Artist Tim Doyle created this cool piece of Batman art that was inspired by the cover of Detective Comics #31. This is a One Year of Batman official Warner / DC Comics limited screen print, and the redesign of the the iconic DC cover was commissioned by the French Paper Art Club and Geek-Art. The press release for the art came with the following description:

He will fight the Monk, but also a giant gorilla ! He also uses his Batgyro, and uses his newest weapon, the now famous batarang.

Cigarette-Smoking Man and Walter Skinner Returning to THE X-FILES

0
0

David Duchovny and Gillian Anderson are set to reprise their roles as Fox Mulder and Dana Scully in the upcoming X-Files limited series. But they won't be the only familiar faces that we see! Duchovny recently appeared on the Late Show with David Letterman, and there he revealed that Walter Skinner (Mitch Pileggi), and the Cigarette-Smoking Man (William B. Davis) will be reprising their roles in the series, which is awesome.

It's interesting to hear that the Cigarette-Smoking Man is returning, especially since he was supposedly killed by helicopter rocket in the 2002 series finale of The X-Files. I guess that means he didn't really die. However, series creator Chris Carter has said in the past, "No one ever really dies on X-Files." So there ya go!

You can watch Duchovny talk about the series below. You can also read an interview in which he discusses the series coming back, and how Mulder was a terrible FBI agent right here.

Review: FURIOUS 7 Is The Best Film Of The Franchise

0
0

I'll just come right out and say it: Furious 7 is the best Fast & Furious movie. It's a wonderful blend of the two things these films do best — cheesy sentimentality and jaw-dropping action — and it's packed to the brim with comedic moments and transcendent set pieces. It also contains a perfect goodbye to Paul Walker that left me wiping away tears. It's everything you could want in a Fast movie, and more.

Finally catching us up with the events put into motion back in 2006 in Tokyo DriftFurious 7 opens with Deckard Shaw (Jason Statham), the older brother of Fast & Furious 6 villain Owen Shaw (Luke Evans), coming after our heroes on a quest for revenge. But Dom (Vin Diesel), Brian (Walker), Letty (Michelle Rodriguez), Mia (Jordana Brewster), Tej (Ludacris), and Roman (Tyrese Gibson) don't take kindly to Shaw killing one of their own, so the film quickly sets up a vengeance vs. vengeance plot that contains some of the best action sequences of the decade.

There are some new faces — Statham (playing the biggest badass this series has ever seen outside of Diesel and The Rock), Kurt Russell, Tony Jaa, Djimon Hounsou, Ronda RouseyGame of Thrones' Nathalie Emmanuel — and, as usual, a totally ridiculous plot that leads the gang all over the world. This one feels more like a Bond movie than any other, not only because of the huge action, but because of the movie's MacGuffin: a piece of tracking technology that allows anyone to hack into every video and audio device in the world to find anyone in seconds. But none of that is really important; as always, it's more about having Vin Diesel talk about family and seeing what kind of jaw-dropping stunts these guys can pull off on their way to the finish line.

Right now, as I'm sitting here basking in the afterglow of seeing this film, I'm willing to call this one of the best action movies of all time. It's not nearly as narratively tight as something like Die Hard or Raiders of the Lost Ark, but if a conversation comes up about movies with the best set pieces, I think Furious 7 has to be in the conversation not just for how well-executed they all are, but for the sheer number of them. Look at this breakdown: Dwayne Johnson vs. Jason Statham. Michelle Rodriguez vs. Ronda Rousey. Paul Walker vs. Tony Jaa (twice). Vin Diesel vs. Statham. And those are just this film's hand-to-hand fight sequences; having only those scenes would probably make this more impressive than most traditional modern action films, and I haven't even mentioned a single scene involving cars yet.

And those car sequences...man, James Wan does such a phenomenal job here. He stepped in to replace Justin Lin and stepped up in a major way, and with this one movie, he's cemented himself as one of the best action directors in Hollywood. The way he handles geography, placing the camera exactly where it needs to be so we understand what everything means for every character involved, is nothing short of masterful. He totally gets it and doesn't miss a beat coming into this franchise, topping the spectacle of Fast Five and Fast & Furious 6 and leaving me wondering how the heck future sequels will ever surpass the action put on film here.

I've seen people say that this movie is only for fans of the franchise, and since I love these movies so much, it's impossible for me to take a step back and look at it objectively. I'm actually glad about that: I'm glad that being a fan makes the ending of this movie a powerful moment for me and not something that has no weight to it, I'm glad that having a working knowledge of the previous movies pays off in regards to plot points in this one that retroactively make the earlier films better, and I'm glad that these films feel specifically made for me and the other members of the Fast #family, who embrace them for what they are and don't love them in a "guilty pleasure" sort of way but just genuinely love them. The film plants seeds for another sequel, and I'm already looking forward to seeing how this magnificent series continues to evolve.

STRAIGHT OUTTA COMPTON Gets A New Trailer and Character Posters

0
0

Universal has just sent over the second trailer and some new character posters for Straight Outta Compton, the music biopic of the seminal rap group N.W.A. For those who weren't tuned into what was going on at that time, it's tough to describe how much of a cultural impact these guys had, but the trailer does a good job giving us a look at how these guys weren't just rappers — they were representing the feelings of a large segment of the American population who were fed up with police brutality (sound familiar?).

The movie drops on August 14th.

In the mid-1980s, the streets of Compton, California, were some of the most dangerous in the country.  When five young men translated their experiences growing up into brutally honest music that rebelled against abusive authority, they gave an explosive voice to a silenced generation.  Following the meteoric rise and fall of N.W.A., Straight Outta Compton tells the astonishing story of how these young men revolutionized music and pop culture forever the moment they told the world the truth about life in the hood and ignited a cultural war.
Starring O’Shea Jackson Jr., Corey Hawkins and Jason Mitchell as Ice Cube, Dr. Dre and Eazy-E, Straight Outta Compton is directed by F. Gary Gray (Friday, Set It Off,The Italian Job).  The drama is produced by original N.W.A. members Ice Cube and Dr. Dre, who are joined by fellow producers Matt Alvarez and Tomica Woods-Wright.  Will Packer serves as executive producer of the film alongside Gray.

This VOLTRON Cat Condo Should be a Real Thing

As you know, today is April Fools' Day. Surprisingly, I haven't seen any ridiculous, unbelievable  news headlines. However, Think Geek has released their April Fools' Day item. It's a Voltron Cat Condo, and it comes along with a very humorous commercial.

This multi-level cat condo may be a joke now, but knowing Think Geek, it will probably end up becoming a reality one day. That's exactly what happened with their Star Trek Enterprise Frisbee! This would be a must own for any cat lovers who are fans of Voltron.

*cue Peter Cullen*
From days of long ago, from uncharted regions of the universe, comes a legend; the legend of Voltron, Defender of the Universe, a mighty cat condo, loved by good, feared by evil. As Voltron's legend grew, peace settled across the galaxy. On Planet Earth, a Galaxy Alliance was formed. Together with the good pets of the solar system, they maintained peace throughout the universe, until a new horrible menace threatened the galaxy: stale kibble. Voltron was needed once more. This is the story of the super force of space explorers, specially-trained and sent by the Alliance to sleep and play and, well, sleep some more within Voltron, Defender of the Universe!
This Voltron Cat Condo provides multiple levels for you and your cats' enjoyment. There are ground-level play tunnels covered in fleece. The solid wood platforms of the chest allow your feline to stretch out and watch the world go by. There's complete interior access to all levels for cats who might prefer more privacy while saving the universe. Got "tree dwellers" who like to climb? Watch them form the head! And the uplifted arm creates a cozy enclosure for safe daytime naps. Add sisal to the outside of some or all of the play tunnels to extend the life of your condo. LET'S GO, KITTEN FORCE!

Kevin Smith has been on a role bringing together the cast for Mallrats 2. It all started with the announcement that he, Jason Mewes, Stan Lee, and Michael Rooker would return. Now several other original cast members are on board to reprise their roles, as well!

Now we've got Jason Lee, Shannen Doherty, Ethan Suplee, Jeremy London, Renee Humphry,  Joey Lauren Adams, and Sven-Ole Thorsen. I've included all of the confirmation tweets below.

It's going to be interesting to see who else he brings into the sequel. I would absolutely love it if he was able to get Ben Affleck on board. The role he played in Mallrats was perfect for him. I assume that Smith will also try to bring back Claire Forlani as Brandi and Priscilla Barnes as Ivannah.

It's really going to be a blast seeing what has become of these characters after all these years. I'm looking forward to seeing how this sequel turns out.

THE FAST AND THE FURIOUS Reimagined in 8-Bit Cinema

We just published my review of Furious 7 and Vin Diesel is already talking about what might happen in the inevitable Furious 8, but the team at Cinefix is looking in their rear-view mirror and taking us all the way back to 2001 when the whole franchise started with The Fast and The Furious. They've given the first movie the 8-Bit Cinema treatment, and maybe it's just me, but the animation feels a little more like an anime than the normal 8-bit things they've done. I think my favorite part of this video is the tiny reference to Ja Rule ("Monicaaaa!"), one of the few people who hasn't been brought back in to the franchise over the years. Take a look below and let us know what you think.

2 Great New DAREDEVIL TV Spots and a Clip

We've got two exciting new TV spots and a clip from Marvel's upcoming Netflix series Daredevil. The spots feature Matt Murdock (Charlie Cox) jumping into action and honing his skills. They also feature Kingpin (Vincent D'Onofrio) plotting to kill the man in the mask.

As for the clip, it was included in an interview with Cox on Good Morning New York. They show plenty of footage while Cox is talking about the series, and then it closes with a clip featuring Murdock after he has gotten his ass kicked and was rescued by Claire Temple (Rosario Dawson).

Marvel’s Daredevil is a live action series that follows the journey of attorney Matt Murdock, who in a tragic accident was blinded as a boy but imbued with extraordinary senses. Murdock sets up practice in his old neighborhood of Hell’s Kitchen, New York where he now fights against injustice as a respected lawyer by day and masked vigilante at night.

All episodes of Daredevil will be made available to watch on Netflix on April 10th.

MailChimp Playing Cards Look Spectacular, And Support A Great Cause

We typically don't feature straight up playing cards at Geektyrant, but three reasons persuaded me into doing so. First, the cards themselves are a joint effort in conjunction with Theory11, who are responsible for some of the slickest looking cards around, and this set is no different. The sleek design on the box is raised, and the Kings, Queens, Jacks, and Jokers incorporate the chimp that MailChimp derives its name from (hence the bananas in the photo gallery below).

Secondly, Monkey's are awesome.

Thirdly, 100% of the proceeds go towards a lovely organization called Fugees Family. The organization originally just provided refugee boys with free access to organized soccer, but has steadily grown to offer year round soccer for kids 10-18, after school tutoring, and even the Fugees Academy. The Fugees Academy attempts to help refugee children catch up to their peers, education wise, and adapt to their new home. Here is an excerpt from their website that goes into greater detail.

Refugees are resettled in the United States after they have been forced to flee their homeland because of war or persecution. Often, there is a long waiting period between the time refugees leave their homes and the time they are granted entry to the United States. Generally, this interim time is spent in refugee camps, where the obstacles to survival and safety have been well-documented, and formal education for children is neither a priority nor an option. As such, when they do finally arrive in the United States, refugee students enter school behind their American-born peers – both academically and socio-emotionally – given that many of them have not had any formal schooling, and most have lived through traumatic circumstances. Further, they have no one at home to help, since their parents are usually illiterate in both their native language and English. Lacking the support and guidance they need to succeed in traditional public schools, too many refugee children fail to learn English, develop fundamental academic skills, or identify themselves as a valuable part of American society.
At the Fugees Academy, these students find a bridge from isolation to socialization and learning. The school strives to give its students the support, guidance, and direct instruction necessary to put them on a path to better adjustment, high school graduation, and further successes.

So, great cards and a great cause, all for $9.95. You really can't beat that. If you want more information on MailChimps exclusive cards, you can find that here. If you want more information on the Fugee Academy, you can get that here.

Ryan Reynolds Tells Fans Not to Panic Over a PG-13 DEADPOOL Movie

Earlier this week, Deadpool star Ryan Reynolds said that he was still fighting for an R-rated Deadpool movie. That's something the fans really want to see happen, but knowing 20th Century Fox, I seriously doubt that is going to happen. The actor's most recent Tweets on the Deadpool rating seem to suggest that he's loosing his battle with the studio and that the film is most likely going to be rated PG-13. The actor tells the fans not to panic, though!

This is what he had to say earlier today:

#deadpool - So we make the blood green. (Views expressed here are mine - not necessarily those of adorable, taint-punchers releasing films)

He then adds:

A PG-13 #deadpool will still have 4th wall breaking, a shit-ton of action and at least 3 chimichangas. Zero need to panic. I promise.

Of course fans are going to panic. It's just in our nature. At the same time, we don't see the fans panicking or complaining about the PG-13 Wolverine movies, and Wolverine is a hard R-rated character, as well.

I think once we start seeing more images and actual footage from the film, the excitement for the movie will explode, even if it's slapped with a PG-13 rating. Director Tim Miller is currently shooting the movie, and there won't be an official rating until the MPAA gets their dirty little hands on it.

Deadpool also stars Morena Baccarin, T.J. Miller, Gina Carano, Brianna Hildebrand, and Ed Skrein. It will hit theaters on February 12th, 2016.
