FINAL FANTASY TYPE-0 HD - PAX Trailer Presents A World of Violence & Loss

$

I never realized how non-gory the Final Fantasy games are as a whole. Sure, the previous games deal with themes like death and loss, and they do it in spades, but every time I watch a new trailer for Type-0, I’m reminded of how tame those games in comparison. As long as the game uses those effects to aid the storytelling and not just make up for lack of a good script, this would be something I hope is carried over to future games.

Plus, I’m a sucker for this type of setup anyway, where a small group has to defeat the odds and innumerable enemies: The Magnificent Seven, Dirty Dozen, Seven Samurai, take your pick. And Type-0 has all those ingredients, so hopefully everything comes together in the final product.

Of course I would be remiss not to mention the other thing that comes with Type-0, and we have some additional info and screens on that as well. Square Enix revealed some new info on Final Fantasy XV Episode Duscae, such as the implementation of English and Japanese voiceover work, as well as a small blurb on summoning, and Square Enix did confirm that you would be able to summon in the demo, but have kept mum on what you could summon. (It's out there, but I didn’t really want to spoil it for myself). You can see an excerpt from the press release below for more details on Duscae.

Backstory
When you've spent your entire life looking out at the serrated city skyline, it's easy to lose yourself in the sprawling Duscaen landscape. The prince and his retinue were halfway to Cauthess when their daydreams came to a sudden, screeching halt—the Regalia's last gasp before giving out to the unpaved backroads.
Now they were truly lost in the landscape: broken down by the side of the road with the Disc well out of walking distance. The Archaean, Titan, would have to wait. He'd been dormant for ages anyway. The first order of business was getting back on four wheels.

Enjoy the screens, and you can play Type-0 and Episode Duscae when it releases on March 17th.

CAPTAIN AMERICA: CIVIL WAR Vector Art by Orlando Arocena

Artist Orlando Arocena has used his vector illustration style and created an incredibly cool fan-made poster for Captain America: Civil War. It features a horrifying image of Iron Man crushing Captain America's head. The piece came with the following quote:

"And when there is the possibility of peace, a new fight erupts, based on an old complaint, and which some people call justice and others madness.”

I love how he used design elements of each of the characters to fill in the V and the A letters of Civil War. You can see more of his art at the following links - G.I. JoeBatmanThree Fates of MonaEntertainment BlogsDoctor Who, and Boba Fett

First Look at AMC's WALKING DEAD Spin-Off, Which Was Just Picked Up For 2 Seasons

We knew that AMC was developing a spin-off companion series to its smash hit The Walking Dead that would fill in some of the gaps of what happened while Rick was in a coma, but now we know that the network is serious about giving the show the time it needs to fully develop: Deadline says that they have given a full two season pickup to the Los Angeles-set spin-off, similar to how they gave Better Call Saul a two season pickup before the first episode even aired. The show is still officially untitled, though rumor has it the series will be called Fear the Walking Dead.

The first season of the new show will be made up of six one-hour episodes and will air sometime during late summer of this year, possibly leading up to the new season of The Walking Dead. Season 2 is expected to consist of a higher number of episodes, and those will debut sometime in 2016. Cliff Curtis (Live Free or Die Hard, The Fountain, Sunshine), Kim Dickens (Gone Girl, DeadwoodHouse of Cards), Frank Dillane (Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince, In the Heart of the Sea), and Alycia Debnam Carey (Into The Storm) are starring in the show, while Dave Erickson, who co-created the show and co-wrote the pilot with Robert Kirkman, is an executive producer and showrunner.

AMC president Charlie Collier had this to say:

“We take incredibly seriously the notion of building a satisfying companion series to the number one show on television. From the beginning of The Walking Dead on AMC, we’ve been asked questions about what was going on in other parts of the zombie apocalypse, and what it looked like as the world really did ‘turn.’ Through this new series, we’re going to find out. We respectfully follow the request of Monty Python as we bring out (the latest of) our Dead.”

What do you think? Looking forward to this show?

New GHOSTBUSTERS Movie in Development with Channing Tatum, The Russo Brothers, and Drew Pearce Involved

Looks like Sony is going all-in on the Ghostbusters franchise. After years of stalled efforts to bring a third movie to fruition finally culminated with the greenlight on a Paul Feig-directed all-female sequel, the studio has put a new male-themed Ghostbusters movie in development with Captain America: Civil War directors Joe and Anthony Russo hoping to direct, Iron Man 3 scribe Drew Pearce writing the screenplay, and Channing Tatum and his producing partner Reid Carolin lined up to produce, while Tatum will play one of the new male Ghostbusters. (He pitched an idea for Chris Pratt to be in this cast a few months ago, but there's no word yet on Pratt's potential involvement.)

Ivan Reitman and Dan Aykroyd, the creative minds behind the original film, will be major creative voices in a new Sony company called Ghost Corps that will develop future Ghostbusters-related properties for film, TV, and beyond. This level of branding is something that Aykroyd has been talking about for years, but with new studio head Tom Rothman having just taken the helm at Sony, he's making it happen.

The Russo Brothers, who just signed a three year first-look deal with Sony, have been rumored to be taking over the director's chair on Avengers: Infinity War Part I and Part II, but nothing has been confirmed with that yet, so we'll have to wait and see what the timeline looks like; it could be a few years before this new Ghostbusters sequel gets up and running. Still, I can't deny the appeal of Channing Tatum suiting up to bust some ghosts, the Russos have proven to be excellent directors, and Pearce's script for Iron Man 3 was fantastic, so as much as I sort of loathe the idea of branding for the sake of branding, everything sounds pretty good with this so far.

Here's what Reitman had to say about this new development:

“We want to expand the Ghostbusters universe in ways that will include different films, TV shows, merchandise, all things that are part of modern filmed entertainment. This is a branded entertainment, a scary supernatural premise mixed with comedy. Paul Feig’s film will be the first version of that, shooting in June to come out in July, 2016. He’s got four of the funniest women in the world, and there will be other surprises to come. The second film has a wonderful idea that builds on that. Drew will start writing and the hope is to be ready for the Russo Brothers’ next window next summer to shoot, with the movie coming out the following hear [sic]. It’s just the beginning of what I hope will be a lot of wonderful movies.”

What do you think? Are you excited about the explosion of Ghostbusters-related films we're about to see?

Super spy James Bond has made ordering vodka martinis cool since 1962, and though the world's most famous secret agent seems to perpetually be on some sort of death-defying mission to save the world, it seems like he always has time for a drink.

Along with the news that Miss Bala star Stephanie Sigman has joined Spectre in a small role as a mysterious new Bond girl named Estrella, The Playlist points us to a new infographic from Buddy Loans that breaks down Bond's drinking habits in every film in the franchise, keeping track of every drink he consumed on screen. Lucy Lawless Joins Bruce Campbell in ASH VS EVIL DEAD

I'm excited to report that Lucy Lawless will be joining the cast of Sam Raimi's Ash Vs. Evil Dead series! Lawless is best know for her roles in Xena: Warrior Princess, Spartacus, and Salem. I'm a big fan of hers, and I think it's awesome that she will be joining Bruce Campbell in this highly anticipated follow-up to the Evil Dead franchise.

She will be playing a character named Ruby that is described as a "mysterious figure who is myopic in her quest to hunt down the source of the recent Evil outbreaks. The only problem: she believes that Ash (Campbell) is the cause of it all."

Sam Raimi and Rob Tapert were both executive producers of Xena: Warrior Princess and Spartacus, so it makes sense that they'd bring Lawless on board to help bring this new series to life. They obviously like working with her - and it helps that she's married to Tapert. The actress also appeared in Spider-Man and Boogeyman, both of which Raimi was involved with.

Lawless joins the previously announced cast members Ray Santiago (Pablo Simon Bolivar), Dana DeLorenzo (Kelly Maxwell), and Jill Marie Jones (Amanda Fisher).

The STARZ Original series Ash vs Evil Dead will be 10 half-hour episodes.  Bruce Campbell will be reprising his role as Ash, the stock boy, aging lothario and chainsaw-handed monster hunter who has spent the last 30 years avoiding responsibility, maturity and the terrors of the Evil Dead.  When a Deadite plague threatens to destroy all of mankind, Ash is finally forced to face his demons –personal and literal.  Destiny, it turns out, has no plans to release the unlikely hero from its “Evil” grip.

Raimi is set to direct the first episode of the horror series from a script he wrote with Ivan Raimi (DarkmanArmy of DarknessDrag Me to Hell), Craig DiGregorio (Workaholics, Chuck), and Tom Spezialy (Chuck, Reaper, Desperate Housewives).

The series is set to start shooting in New Zealand in the spring, and I can't wait to watch it!

Haunting Video Game Artwork Featuring Mario, Samus, Master Chief, and Link

Artist Noble--6 has created some gorgeous artwork featuring iconic video game characters like Mario, Samus, Link, and Halo's Master Chief. I love the inky darkness in these pieces, and how the world seems to stretch on forever in the background with the silhouettes of our heroes in the foreground. The coloring also reminds me a little of the color palette of James Cameron's Avatar, which had a similar kind of vibe with light seemingly trying to burst forth from shadowy places on Pandora. These are striking portraits of some of the coolest characters in video game history, and Noble--6 has certainly done them a service by creating these very cool pieces.

New SAN ANDREAS Trailer Features Complete Earthquake Destruction

new-san-andreas-trailer-features-complete-earthquake-destruction

A new trailer has been released for Dwayne Johnson’s earthquake disaster film San Andreas, and it focuses on the total destruction of California. I definitely don’t want to be living in Los Angeles when the big one hits. I’ve never really been afraid of earthquakes. In fact, I actually enjoy riding them out. But this movie makes it looks like an absolute nightmare. The trailers that have been released are kind of frightening in regards to seeing the destruction and massive amount of chaos. Could this actually happen? I don’t want to be around to find out.

Regardless of what could happen in real life if an earthquake of this magnitude hit California, the movie itself looks like it will be a ridiculous disaster movie full of lots of crazy close calls. Some audiences are sure to find it entertaining.

After the infamous San Andreas Fault finally gives, triggering a magnitude 9 earthquake in California, a search and rescue helicopter pilot (Dwayne Johnson) and his estranged wife make their way together from Los Angeles to San Francisco to save their only daughter.
But their treacherous journey north is only the beginning. And when they think the worst may be over…it’s just getting started.

The movie was directed by Brad Peyton (Journey 2: The Mysterious Island), and it also stars Carla Gugino, Kylie Minogue, Alexandra Daddario, Ioan Gruffudd, Archie Panjabi, Hugo Johnstone-Burt, and Art Parkinson. It will be released in theaters on May 29th, 2015.

Legendary Picture has released a new trailer for Dead Rising: Watchtower, which is a film adaptation of the hit zombie video game. The movie is set to be released online on Crackle, and just because it’s not being released on the big screen doesn’t mean it’s not going to be an entertaining movie. I think it looks like a bloody fun zombie flick.

The cast includes Jesse Metcalfe (Dallas), Meghan Ory (Intelligence, Once Upon a Time), Virginia Madsen (Sideways), Dennis Haysbert (24, Men, Women & Children), and Rob Riggle (Let’s Be Cops, 21 Jump Street).

Dead Rising: Watchtower takes place during a large-scale zombie outbreak. When a mandatory government vaccine fails to stop the infection from spreading, the four leads must evade infection while also pursuing the root of the epidemic, with all signs pointing to a government conspiracy. Politics, public paranoia, and media coverage play an important role in the story’s narrative.

The Dead Rising game franchise has been a big hit and has sold over 7.6 million copies worldwide. The movie will start streaming on Crackle on March 27th.

Boba Fett Escapes the Sarlacc in STAR WARS Fan Film

Oliver Thompson has written and directed a Star Wars fan film called "Beyond the Dune Sea." The story starts off with Boba Fett inside the Sarlacc creature that swallowed him up in Return of the Jedi, and it follows him as he escapes from the belly of the beast and continues on his mission to capture Han Solo. The special effects are a little shoddy, but it’s still a fun fan film that is worth checking out.

This a non-canon story telling of his escape from 'The Almighty Sarlacc!' We decided to make an original story that is not based on the books or other parts of the Expanded Universe.

The director also offers up a statement regarding why Boba Fett doesn’t use his Slave 1 ship in the film:

Hi guys thanks for watching Star Wars Beyond The Dune Sea! I have had a few fans ask me why Boba Fett doesn't use his own ship Slave 1 and instead uses Bossk's ship the Hound's Tooth. It's a good question. My thinking was if every one thinks he is dead it is too his advantage. All eyes would be on Jabba's Palace after his death. Boba could avoid attention from his competitors, the Rebel Alliance and the Empire. It comes down to the old theory of the element of surprise. He would be able to go after his quarry more discreetly, then easily go back for Slave 1 at a later date.

Best Trailer for Pixar's INSIDE OUT Yet Focuses on Heartfelt Story

$

We've seen a few trailers for Pixar's Inside Out already, but they have mostly highlighted scenes involving the emotions of the characters in the film and how they interact with the people they inhabit. This latest trailer features a ton of new footage and also focuses on the wonderful, heartfelt story that the movie will tell.

The story centers on 11-year-old Riley, and we learn from this trailer that she starts to lose her memories due to an accident caused by one of her emotions. The emotions end up going on a journey through the girls long-term memories so that they can return the lost memories to her brain. Along the way, the lead character goes through experiences in her own life. It’s our best look yet at the film, and it looks absolutely fantastic!

The movie features the voice cast of Mindy Kaling, Bill Hader, Amy Poehler, Phyllis Smith, and Lewis Black. Here's the synopsis:

Growing up can be a bumpy road, and it’s no exception for Riley, who is uprooted from her Midwest life when her father starts a new job in San Francisco. Like all of us, Riley is guided by her emotions – Joy (Amy Poehler), Fear (Bill Hader), Anger (Lewis Black), Disgust (Mindy Kaling) and Sadness (Phyllis Smith). The emotions live in Headquarters, the control center inside Riley’s mind, where they help advise her through everyday life. As Riley and her emotions struggle to adjust to a new life in San Francisco, turmoil ensues in Headquarters. Although Joy, Riley’s main and most important emotion, tries to keep things positive, the emotions conflict on how best to navigate a new city, house and school.

The movie will be released in theaters on June 19th, 2015.

Here's an awesome piece of Charlie Brown fan art that features the character all grown up with his dog Snoopy as they are making their way through an apocalyptic world that they are forced to survive. The piece was created by three artists: The colors were done by Sean Ellery, the pencils by Max Dunbar, and the inks by Vitali Iakovlev.

The illustration is called "It's the Apocalypse Charlie Brown!" And here's a fun little story to go along with the image:

Ever since Lucy had finally gone too far in her quest for power and launched the nuclear apocalypse, Charlie Brown had roamed the wastes watching his Peanuts gang being whittled down one by one until only he and his faithful beagle; Snoopy IV were left.... But he would never give up, never. Not until he found the little red haired girl.
She was out there... somewhere...

THE A-TEAM Van Would Have Looked Like This in the Sequel

the-a-team-van-would-have-looked-like-this-in-the-sequel

Director Joe Carnahan’s The A-Team didn’t do very well at the box office, so don’t expect to see a sequel for it any time soon. But there was some pre-development work done for the A-Team 2, and Carnahan has released an image showing us what the team's new van would have looked like. They gave it a complete overhaul and turned it into more of an urban assault vehicle, which makes sense. I think the design is a pretty badass upgrade. The image came with the following caption:

“For all you A-TEAM fans. Found this. Concept for what the van was going to look like in the sequel. A Knight Conquest.”

I really had a blast watching the first movie, and I would have really liked to see a sequel. I’m sure we’ll eventually see another A-Team film, but it will most likely be a reboot, and it probably won’t even happen for another 10 years or so.

I’ve included the previous van designs for you to check out below.

Marvel Releases Dark Full Trailer for DAREDEVIL

marvel-releases-dark-full-trailer-for-daredevil

Marvel has released a full trailer for their Netflix seies Daredevil, and it looks freakin' awesome. They did a great job bringing the dark and gritty world of Hell's Kitchen to life, and like the comic, you'll see that there's going to be a fine line between good and evil. That is sure to give the series some moral murkiness to play with.

The trailer is loaded with some great action-packed footage, and it offers our best look yet at what this series is going to be like. Charlie Cox's Matt Murdock pulls his mask down and goes to war with Vincent D'Onofrio's villainous Kingpin. He doesn't have any cool gadgetry or superhuman strength like some of the other Marvel heroes. He just has his hardcore training and wits to guide him through his survival. Along the way he will have his fair share of getting his ass kicked, but that's what I love about this character. It doesn't stop him from getting back up and fighting another day for what he believes in.

It’s time to let the devil out. Marvel’s Daredevil is here to clean up the streets of Hell’s Kitchen, New York. Lawyer by day, street-level hero by night, Matt Murdock is on a mission to make his city a better place against an underground terror within the city.

The series also stars Rosario Dawson, Deborah Ann Woll, and Bob Gunton. The season will premiere with 13 one-hour episodes in 4K on April 10th, 2015 at 12:01 AM PT.

Ridiculous STAR TREK U.S.S. Enterprise Frisbee

The Star Trek  NCC-1701 U.S.S. Enterprise frisbee started out as an April Fools joke, but thanks to Think Geek, it's now a product that actually exists. Everything about this is absolutely ridiculous, but it would make for a great novelty gift.

The saucer section spins when you throw it, and it basically carries the rest of the ship with it. It's something I don't think you'd want to get hit in the face with.

Springtime at Starfleet Academy is just like any other higher learning institution. The grass is painted green, the Orion students are green, and sometimes even the space bologna is green! But the main similarity is how the student bodies spend more and more time outside: studying, socializing, and throwing their Constitution-class flying discs all over campus. And now you can relive your time at the Academy with your very own Star Trek U.S.S. Enterprise Flying Disc.
Each Star Trek U.S.S. Enterprise Flying Disc is pretty much just what it looks like. There's the saucer section (made of space-age plastic) which is the part you throw (just like a regular flying disc). But the Star Trek U.S.S. Enterprise Flying Disc also has the rest of the ship attached (made of foam). The saucer section spins freely, and the secondary hull actually stabilizes and flies behind it. The result? A U.S.S. Enterprise you can easily throw and catch. The Star Trek U.S.S. Enterprise Flying Disc - it's the most fun you can have without anti-gravity, a bottle of Saurian brandy, and four Tribbles!

The flying disc is available for $24.99 at Think Geek. Below you'll find a couple more images and the April Fools video that was released last year.

PlayStation has released the entire first episode of their fantastic new series Powers online, and you can watch it below. I've also included a new trailer that they released that encompasses the full first season. I had a blast watching this first episode, and it looks like the entire season is going to be a pretty crazy series worth following.

The story focuses on two detectives, played by Sharlto Copley and Susan Heyward, as they investigate superhero-related homicides, and I'm hooked! Here's the synopsis:

Powers, an edgy dramatic series from Sony Pictures Television and inspired by the graphic novel series of the same name, follows the lives of two homicide detectives, Christian Walker (Copley) and Deena Pilgrim (Heyward), who are assigned to investigate cases involving people with extraordinary abilities, referred to as “Powers.” Set amidst today’s paparazzi culture, Powers asks the questions, what if the world was full of superheroes who aren’t actually heroic at all? What if all that power was just one more excuse for mischief, mayhem, murder, and endorsement deals? Enter the men and women of the Powers Division, the only people brave enough to go up against the overpaid, commercialized, superhumans who glide through the sky imposing their power over the crowds below who both worship and fear them.

After you watch the first episode below, let us know if you plan on sticking with the series.

5 Times Superman Took Things Too Far

$

There's no disputing Superman's title as one of the best heroes of all time, but with great power comes... well, you get it. Here are a few times Supes took it too far.

Boxed Muhammad Ali

In a comic adventure that is so '70s it should come packaged with bell bottoms, Superman once went against “The Greatest.” An alien overlord of a faraway planet comes to Earth and challenges its greatest champion to a boxing match. Superman steps forward and is like “Duh, I got this,” when Muhammad Ali interjects and points out Superman isn’t even human. Outlawyered and pressured by the peanut gallery, Superman CHALLENGES ALI TO A BOXING MATCH. Rat’Lar (the evil alien overlord) suggests that a fairer fight might take place on his planet, which has a red sun. In case you don’t remember, red suns are semi-Kryptonite to Supes and make his strength comparable to a humans. Knowing at this point he’s just basically a human challenging a professional athlete in his sport, Superman could’ve backed down. He says “Nah” and gets his ass beat down. Ali goes on to win it all and somehow discovers Superman’s secret identity. Batman gets ringside seats and no one acknowledges it. It’s a classic in WTF comic literature.

Let’s back up, though. When the initial fight is proposed, Superman is fully ready to throw down. He has no qualms with straight up murdering an American icon in the ring and is lacing up WHEN THE VILLAIN pipes up as the voice of reason to make it a “fair fight.” Who knows why Superman doesn’t back down after realizing he’s outmatched, but knowing the time and era, I can only assume midwestern institutionalized racism. Totally kidding about that last part, but can you imagine if Superman was actually written with the personality of a white, middle-aged man born in the '50s and raised in Kansas?

Sneezed Away An Entire Galaxy

5-times-superman-took-things-too-far-mjgt-sneeze.jpg

Silver age Superman was unbelievably strong. He was so strong, in fact, that writers at the time ran out of villains that could present any real threat and were forced to lower his strength level. Among some of the incredible things that happened in this time period, Superman once sneezed so hard he destroyed a galaxy. It’s so much crazier than that, though, and it all starts with Mister Mxyzptlk.

You’d think a magical Imp with the power to do anything evil would be a bit more creative than something you could buy at a novelty shop. Alas Mxyzptlk (which there is no autocorrect to prevent me from misspelling throughout the post) unleashes a mass amount of sneezing powder upon the Earth. Superman, frightened by the implications of a temporarily sneezing world, inhales a worlds supply of sneezing powder into his nose. He then flies at the speed of light into a dead galaxy and sneezes so ferociously that he obliterates it in entirety. My personal favorite line is when he says, “I suspected this would happen,” because only Superman would have a contingency plan for the day he ever sneezed.

The Time He Gut Punched A Pregnant Lois Lane Into Space And Killed Her

This is by far the most horrifying headline on the list, and unfortunately, it totally happened. In the Injustice comics series, Superman is under the influence of Scarecrow's drugs. Believing he is fighting Doomsday, Superman holds nothing back and punches Doomsday in the stomach so hard he goes sailing into space. Superman then realizes he just killed Lois and her unborn child and punches a literal hole through The Joker. For whatever reason, the game developers of Injustice: Gods Among Us replaced the comic death scene with instead the Joker blowing her up. One can only speculate as to why.

The Time He Ate Enough Hamburgers To Feed An Army

"IF I DON’T EAT ALL THESE HAMBURGERS I’LL STARVE TO DEATH," Superman proclaims as he shoves another fistful of hamburger into his mouth. It’s a compelling cover for an action comic and completely not true in context of the story. Superman is feeling weak throughout the issue due to a machine sapping the solar energy from the Earth. This causes him to fall asleep at awkward times and experience difficulty fighting villains, but not once does anyone say he will starve to death. Superman burns an entire paycheck at some burger shack stress eating and then hours later saves the day. Sounds like the only real danger was the bathroom endeavor he would undergo the next day.

He Blew Out The Olympic Flame

Psychological breakdown or not, Superman couldn’t even be a proper evil villain. Instead he goes around committing ridiculous acts such as this. And they say Richard Pryor was the worst part of this film...

Yesterday's announcement about a new Ghostbusters movie with Channing Tatum, The Russo Brothers, and Iron Man 3 screenwriter Drew Pearce involved was very divisive. On one hand, that's an awesome collection of creative people, so this new movie could end up being pretty great. But on the other hand, the way Deadline reporter Mike Fleming framed the news was that the new movie would be "guy-centric," which left a bad taste in a lot of peoples' mouths because Paul Feig's all-female Ghostbusters movie hasn't even started filming yet, and the idea of another all-guy team was following hot on its heels undercut the progressive nature of an all-female Ghostbusters to begin with.

Thankfully, that online outrage was misplaced this time. Badass Digest has a new report that says that the new movie won't be "guy-centric" at all, with three separate sources from the studio saying that they had no idea where that description came from.* It's true that two guys are supposed to be at the center of the movie: Tatum and Chris Pratt - friends who have been looking for a project to work on together - are being pitched as two of the leads, which lines up with a report from a few months ago that basically said the same thing.

Furthermore, there are already plans in place for the all-female team and the new team comprised of Tatum and Pratt (and likely some others) to meet up in a separate movie, Avengers-style. The fourth film idea that's being tossed around is a prequel to these new films, although it won't involve the cast from the 1984 original and not much is known about it at this point.

And finally, Badass Digest says that the term "Ghostbusters" may become a bit more fluid in the coming years:

I think the key here is that while it's the Ghostbusters universe, not every movie has to be about people busting ghosts. Talking to my sources it's become clear that 'Ghostbusters' is going to be the catch-all umbrella for a world of supernatural FX comedies. That world will truly become clear in the team-up film. If the plan for almost yearly Ghostbusters movies holds, these four - the all-female, the Channing/Pratt, the crossover and the prequel - definitely provide a base to rotate annually between tones and concepts.

Dan Aykroyd has been talking about building out the Ghostbusters franchise for decades, and it looks like they're following the Marvel method to finally make that happen for real. Am I excited about the idea? It certainly has a lot more potential than some other planned attempts to create a shared cinematic universe, and I can see it becoming a Star Wars type of situation in which new filmmakers and actors cycle through and do a very different take on the supernatural material that takes place in the same world. (Can you imagine Guillermo del Toro maybe putting his stamp on this in a few years, and the awesome creature effects he'd bring to the table?)

What do you all think?

*The concept of a "guy-centric" Ghostbusters movie seemed to be a creation of Deadline reporter Mike Fleming, who was staunchly opposed to Feig's all-female version of the movie. It looks like he just made that portion of the news up in a headline, and took this new announcement as an opportunity for him to further his weird agenda.
