This Star Wars and Indiana Jones mashup graphic awesomely features Harrison Ford’s Indidna Jones trapped in carbonate! I’m surprised I haven’t seen anything like this created sooner. This is a t-shirt design called "Carbonite Jones." It's available for purchase at Busted Tees, and it came with the following caption:

“What if the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull is just Dagobah?”

The shirt is on for sale for only $12, so now is the time to grab one if you want it! I also found this one as well. It features Jones discovering Han Holo in carbonite. You can buy that one here for $11.

Entertainment Tonight has released a fun sneak peek at Joss Whedon's Avengers: Age of Ultron. The video includes footage from the set of the film with interviews from the cast and crew. It also features some really cool new footage from the film. One of the clips shows Quicksilver punching Captain America in the face, and Scarlet Witch casting some kind of spell on Black Widow. There’s a good chance a lot of these new little clips we see will be included in the trailer that is being released by Marvel tomorrow. In the meantime, enjoy this video. It's worth checking out for anyone who is excited about this movie, which drops on May 1st.

To honor the 30th anniversary of the classic film Back to the Future, artist Scott Park has released a fun poster featuring several different cars and other vehicles from the time travel trilogy. He called the poster "88 Miles per Hour - The Vehicles of the Back to the Future Trilogy," and here's a note from the artist:

"Since this year is the 30th anniversary of Back to the Future (and the 'future' from the second movie), I decided on a BTTF theme.
"I was showing the movies to kids over the summer and of course I was paying attention to all of the cars. And I realized 'Wow, there's a lot of cars in these movies. I bet I could do a poster with all of these cars.'
"So a few months, and multiple viewings of the movies later, I present 88 Miles per Hour - The vehicles of the Back to the Future Trilogy.
"88 vehicles, across all three movies. From Marty's skateboard to Doc's Time Train. All in order of their appearance in the movies."

I've also included some close-up shots of some of the vehicles below. If you want to buy a print, click here.

Jessie Usher, the lead of Starz’s series Survivor’s Remorse, has been cast in the lead role of director Roland Emmerich’s Independence Day 2

Usher will play a major role in the story as the son of Will Smith’s character from the first film, Steven Hiller. Smith will not be in the film, but it looks like the spirit of his character will be be felt. Jeff Goldblum is also set to reprise his role from the first film, and Liam Hemsworth was cast in an unspecified role. There is a rumor, though, that he could be playing the nephew of Bill Pullman's president. There's no confirmation of that, and there's no word on if Pullman himself will be back.

I’ve neverseen Survivor’s Remorse, so I don’t know if his casting is a good thing or a bad thing. In the show, he plays a basketball player who moves to Atlanta with his family. It was renewed for a second season, so it must not be a bad show.

The sci-fi adventure movie is set for release on June 24th, 2016, which is almost exactly 20 years from when the first Independence Day exploded in theaters on July 3rd, 1996. I sure did love that first movie, and I can only hope that this sequel will be just as entertaining.

Battle Cat Could Look Like This in Live-Action HE-MAN Movie

battle-cat-could-look-like-this-in-live-action-he-man-movie

It's been awhile since we've had any news on the He-Man and the Masters of the Universe live-action film that has been in and out of development for years. The last thing we heard was that the most recent script for the film was completed by Jeff Wadlow (Kick-Ass 2) for Columbia Pictures.

We're not sure what the current status of the movie is, but an interesting image has hit the internet, and it was posted on twitter by Senior VP of Production at Sony/Columbia Pictures DeVon Franklin. As you can see, it shows us what He-Man's Battle Cat could look like in his live-action form, and it's incredibly badass.

It seems kind of strange that a high-ranking studio executive would post something like this. The producer was asked for an update on the film, and he replied with:

"Will know more soon. New chairman at sony, gotta get in sync with the studio. As soon as I know I'll report back."

That was followed by the following comment from a fan:

"If @Guardians can make 700 million plus at worldwide box office no reason #MastersOfTheUniverse can't do same."

Franklin then posted the image of Battle Cat with a caption reading, "I totally agree!!!" After that he didn't confirm or deny that this was an actual teaser photo from the film. So it could be some concept art, or it could be a fan-made image that he just posted to get the fans excited.

Whatever the story behind the image is, the design is freakin' awesome, and it's an amazing look for the character in a movie. All I can say at this point is that I hope it's real! What do you think of the character design?

In case you missed it, you can read 20 fun facts about the original Master of the Universe movie here

Joss Whedon Says AVENGERS: AGE OF ULTRON Was a "Nightmare"

joss-whedon-says-avengers-age-of-ultron-was-a-nightmare

Joss Whedon took on one of the hardest filmmaking challenges ever by taking on the Avengers in the Marvel Cinematic Universe. There were so many characters he had to work into the story in the first film, and in Avengers: Age of Ultron he had to add even more! This was not an easy task for the writer/director, but it looks like he actually managed to pull it off.

In a recent interview with the magazine SFX (via THR), he talked about the challenges of making the movie, discusses why this sequel was such a nightmare to work on, and how he approached the Hulk this time around.

"Shoot me in the face! It is a nightmare. I long for the simple movies like Serenity! This is the hardest juggling act I have ever, ever tried to pull off."

He goes on to explain how the characters in the film made developing the story challenging:

"They’re very disparate characters. The joy of the Avengers is they really don’t belong in the same room. It’s not like the X-Men who are all tortured by the same thing and have similar costumes. These guys are just all over the place. And so it’s tough. Honestly, this is as tough as anything I’ve ever done, and I haven’t worked this hard since I had three shows on the air."

The director mentions that one of the things he tried to do with the film was shoot it like a little like a documentary:

"There is more Hulk in this movie than there was in the last first [sic]. But what I’m excited about is we shot this movie very differently. I was running a lot of cameras, I was shooting long lenses, which I don’t usually do."

Whedon also offers up a little more info on how he handled the Hulk in the movie, saying:

"What I love is we have the opportunity, because we went in with this mission statement, to shoot the Hulk like a character in a movie, and not like a ‘Look what we’ve got!’ We have ‘overs’ – blurry ‘Hulk’s over there! Bits, very quick shots. Everything isn’t ‘We built the Hulk so for god’s sake you’re going to watch him in this long take, full frame, the whole time!’ We really got to make him one of the characters in the movie. And that was a gift."

Even though the movie was a nightmare for him to make, it sounds like it was a rewarding experience for him. I know the fans will appreciate all of the hard work that he and the rest of the crew put into developing this movie. It hits theaters on May 1st!

Read Stephen King’s Western Short Story - A DEATH

For those of you who are fans of Stephen King, you will be happy to learn that he’s written a new short story for your reading enjoyment. It's a western thriller called A Death. The story is set in the Black Hills of Dakota in 1889. It tells the story of a murder of a young girl, and the man, Jim Trusdale, who is suspected of killing her. Here's a brief summary of the story:

“The story hinges on the question of guilt. Trusdale repeatedly proclaims his innocence. Most of the town’s citizens are convinced that he’s guilty, yet the sheriff believes that an innocent man may be going to his death.”

It’s another fantastic story from the legendary author, and you can read the full thing right now at  The New Yorker. I've included the first couple of paragraphs to get you started:

Jim Trusdale had a shack on the west side of his father’s gone-to-seed ranch, and that was where he was when Sheriff Barclay and half a dozen deputized townsmen found him, sitting in the one chair by the cold stove, wearing a dirty barn coat and reading an old issue of the Black Hills Pioneer by lantern light. Looking at it, anyway.
Sheriff Barclay stood in the doorway, almost filling it up. He was holding his own lantern. “Come out of there, Jim, and do it with your hands up. I ain’t drawn my pistol and don’t want to.”

This is really a great read, and I hope you decide to finish the story here.

First Trailer & Poster for Tarsem's SELF/LESS Starring Ryan Reynolds & Ben Kingsley

Focus Features has released the first teaser poster and trailer for Tarsem's new film Self/Less, which stars Ryan Reynolds and Ben Kingsley. The director, known for movies like The Cell, The Fall, and Immortals, tackles another science fiction concept in this film, which has Kingsley's character's consciousness transferred into Reynolds' body. It doesn't have quite the visual flair that we've come to expect from Tarsem's movies so far (say what you will about his filmography, but the man can compose a breathtaking image), and looks a little more traditional than a lot of his other films. I'm excited to see it, though, because I like everyone involved, and the trailer definitely looks intriguing. Check it out below.

In this provocative psychological science fiction thriller, an extremely wealthy man (Academy Award winner Ben Kingsley) dying from cancer undergoes a radical medical procedure that transfers his consciousness into the body of a healthy young man (Ryan Reynolds). But all is not as it seems when he starts to uncover the mystery of the body's origin and the organization that will kill to protect its cause.

Self/Less arrives in theaters sometime this summer. For more, visit the movie's official website.

20th Century Fox has released a set of character poster for Blue Sky's upcoming animated feature film Snoopy and Charlie Brown: The Peanuts Movie. They feature Charlie Brown, Snoopy, Linus, and even Lucy.

This movie looks like it's going to be fantastic. It seems like its going to give the fans of these characters everything that they love about them. I was kind of afraid that the studio system was going to screw this up, but it looks like that's not going to be the case. You can check out the last trailer that was released here

Charlie Brown, Snoopy, Lucy, Linus and the rest of the beloved Peanuts gang make their big-screen debut, like they’ve never been seen before, in state of the art 3D animation. Snoopy, the world’s most lovable beagle – and flying ace – embarks upon his greatest mission as he takes to the skies to pursue his arch-nemesis The Red Baron, while his best pal, Charlie Brown, begins his own epic quest.

The Peanuts gang was created Charles M. Schulz, and the movie will hit theaters on November 6th, 2015. Thanks to Empire Online for the posters.

GAME OF THRONES Meets Taylor Swift in This Music Video Mashup

Are you a diehard Game of Thrones fan who can't help but tap your toe when Taylor Swift's Blank Space comes on the radio? Then the team at Nerdist has something for you.

They've just released a parody video called Blank Page, which puts a George R.R. Martin lookalike front and center as he sings about creating Daenerys Targaryen and the possibility that anyone can die at any time in his books. It has some awesome production value (where'd they find that castle?), but I must admit something: I stopped watching this about a minute in because I'm hyper-sensitive to spoilers. Some might say I'm too sensitive, and that's fine, but I'd much rather avoid the risk of anything being spoiled, especially since I'm actually taking the time to read all of the books (I just started the third one, A Storm of Swords). But the minute of this video that I did see was solid, so I'm sure all of you GOT fans out there will dig it. Let us know what you think below.

Teaser Trailer for Sir Ian McKellen's MR. HOLMES

There's a lot of interest out there in Sir Ian McKellen's upcoming new film Mr. Holmes, in which he plays an older Sherlock Holmes. We've seen a few photos of him in the role of the past few months, and even a brief clip. But now we have our first trailer, and I'm even more intrigued. It really looks like it has the makings of a great film.

The movie comes from Miramax and Roadside Attractions, and it was directed by Bill Condon. It also stars Laura Linney (Kinsey, You Can Count on Me). The film is based on the novel A Slight Trick of the Mind by Mitch Cullin.

The story is set in 1947 "when an aging Holmes returns from Japan, where, in search of a plant with powerful restorative qualities, he has witnessed the devastation of nuclear warfare. Now in his remote seaside farmhouse Holmes faces the end of his days tending to his bees with only the company of his housekeeper (Linney) and her young son, Roger. Grappling with the diminishing powers of his mind, Holmes comes to rely upon the boy as he revisits an unsolved case which forced him into retirement, and searches for answers to the mysteries of life and love – before it’s too late."

No U.S. release date has been announced yet, but it is expected to be released in theaters this summer. It opens in the UK on June 19th.

Go Behind the Scenes of the Shot-For-Shot RAIDERS OF THE LOST ARK Remake

We've written a lot about the shot-for-shot remake of Raiders of the Lost Ark made by a group of kids in the 1980s, and there's even an upcoming documentary called Raiders! playing at this year's SXSW Film Festival that tells the story in great detail. But Vice has sort of beat that doc to the punch a little bit, sitting down with Chris Strompolos and Eric Zala for a new web series called American Obsessions. The new series will look at a different obsession for each episode, and in their first episode, they talk with the filmmakers about the long road to completing their fan film, and we get to see a bunch of the footage they shot, storyboards they made, and props they used when pulling off this amazing feat.

Even if you've read a ton of articles about this project over the years like I have (this piece by Amy Nicholson is the best out there), this is still a great thing to watch because it gives more behind-the-scenes footage than I've ever seen of this adaptation. You also get to see a brief shot from the airplane scene that they just recently filmed, so that was pretty cool, too. Check it out.

Oh Snap: Check Out This R/C Rubber Band Race Car

I've seen a lot of remote controlled cars in my day - I used to play with them a lot when I was a kid - but thanks to the invention of 3D printers, they're becoming cooler than ever. OhGizmo pointed us to this awesome new vehicle called the Cirin, but this is no normal RC car - it's powered by nothing more than a rubber band, tightly wound into 8-inch loops that allowed it to travel 500 feet at speeds of up to 30 miles per hour. That's pretty damn impressive.

It was created by students Max Greenberg, Sameer Yeleswarapu, and Ian Cullimore at the Art Center College of Design in Pasadena, California, and although they didn't win the race they created it for, they did win an award for best design, build, and approach. Not too shabby.

Samuel L. Jackson plays the President of the United States in an upcoming action adventure film called Big Game. Air Force One crash lands in Finland, and the President is being hunted down by some bad dudes. But with the help of a young survivalist that he meets in the forest, the president will fight back. This movie looks wonderfully awesome in every way.

It was directed by Finnish director Jalmari Helander (Rare Exports) and it stars Onni Tommila as a young hunter testing his manhood. We've got a U.S. trailer for you to check out today, but if you want to watch the first two international trailers click here and here

Big Game tells the story of Oskari (Tommila), a shy, nervous 13-year-old boy. Like his forefathers, his time has come to take a test of manhood by spending one day and one night alone in the wilderness of a vast local forest. Armed only with a bow and arrow, his task is to return with a prize to prove himself. But this is no ordinary night; Air Force One is shot down by terrorists and Oskari discovers the President of the United States (Jackson) in an escape pod. Now the fate of the most powerful man in the world lies in his hands. With the terrorists closing in, Oskari and the President must team up to survive the most extraordinary 24 hours of their lives.

The film also stars Jim Broadbent, Ted Levine, Victor Garber, Felicity Huffman, Mehmet Kurtulus, and Ray Stevenson. The movie will be released in select theaters, Digital HD, and VOD on June 26th. This definitely looks like a film worth checking out.

Marvel’s Early Movie History - 1994 to 2003

$

0

Last week I started a column that takes us through the history of Marvel movies before they launched their cinematic universe with Iron Man in 2008. The first list featured films from 1944 to 1990. Today I bring you a list of Marvel movies that were made from 1994 to 2003. In this set of films, I've included some information that shows you the roles these films played in the future development of the MCU that we see today.

1994 - FANTASTIC FOUR - Constantin Film Produktion

This was the legendary Robert Corman Fantastic Four movie that was never officially released. It only exists as a bootleg film, and goes down in history as one of the most tragic Marvel films ever. Stan Lee said that this movie was never intended to be released, and that it was made only because the studio that owned the rights to make the movie would have lost them if it didn't begin production by a certain date. What's sad is that the cast and crew didn’t know this while they were shooting it. (There was a documentary made about this called Doomed! The Untold Story of Roger Corman's The Fantastic Four, and you can see a clip from that here.)

When an experimental space voyage goes awry, four people are forever changed by cosmic rays: Reed Richards, inventor and leader of the group gains the ability to stretch his body and takes the name Mr. Fantastic. His girlfriend, Sue Storm, gains the ability to turn invisible and create force fields becoming The Invisible Girl. Her little brother, Johnny Storm, becomes The Human Torch with the ability to control fire, including covering his own body with flame. The pilot Ben Grimm is turned into the super-strong, super-tough Thing. Together they become a team of super-heroes and use their unique powers to foil the evil plans of villains.

1996 - GENERATION X - New World Television

This was a TV movie that acted as a pilot for a TV series that never got made. If you watch the movie that I’ve embed below, then you’ll see why it never happened. It was just way too 90s for it's own good. A couple interesting facts about the movie are that the X-mansion used in it was later re-used for the X-Men film franchise. Then the actor who plays Banshee, Jeremy Ratchford, also voiced Banshee on the '90s X-Men cartoon.

A group of young mutants--humans with a genetic variation that gives them superpowers and makes them feared by the population at large--begin training at a school for heroes. Their studies are interrupted when they must rescue one of their number from a mad scientist who can enter others' dreams.

1998 - BLADE - New Line Cinema

Blade was really the first Marvel movie I saw that I thought was awesome. He wasn’t a main well-known Marvel character, but the movie still kicked ass! Stan Lee originally shot a cameo in the film, but was ultimately cut out. (He was one of the cops that come in to the blood club during the aftermath and discover Quinn's body on fire.) As for Wesley Snipes, he was in discussions with Marvel to play Black Panther in another movie they were developing when he joined Blade. David Fincher was also originally set to direct the film, but he dropped out of it to pursue other other film projects. I can’t help be think that a Blade film directed by Fincher would have been really cool.

In a world where vampires walk the earth, Blade has a goal. His goal is to rid the world of all vampire evil. When Blade witnesses a vampire bite Dr. Karen Jenson, he fights away the beast and takes Jenson back to his hideout. Here, alongside Abraham Whistler, Blade attempts to help heal Jenson. The vampire Quinn who was attacked by Blade, reports back to his master Deacon Frost, who is planning a huge surprise for the human population.

1998 - NICK FURY: AGENT OF S.H.I.E.L.D. - 20th Century Fox Television

David Hasselhoff starred as Nick Fury in this laughably bad TV movie adventure. One of the crazier things about this movie is that it was written by David Goyer, who went on to write Bryan Singer’s X-Men, Christopher Nolan’s Dark Knight trilogy, and Zack Snyder’s Man of Steel. I’m surprised he got work after this movie! This was the last Marvel B-movie that was made.

Marvel's hard-boiled hero is brought to TV. He is brought back to fight the menace of Hydra after exiling himself in the Yukon since the end of the Cold War. The children of the former Hydra head, Baron Von Stucker, have taken charge of the terrorist organization. Under the lead of his vicious daughter, Viper, Hydra has seized a deadly virus and threatens the destruction of America. The covert agency SHIELD brings Fury out of retirement to fight the terrorists.

2000 - X-MEN - 20th Century Fox

Now this was the first true badass Marvel movie to be released that featured a team of characters that comic book fans loved and recognized. Director Bryan Singer did a helluva job bringing it to the big screen. He actually turned down the film three times because he felt that comic books were unintelligent literature. After reading some X-Men comics and watching the 90s cartoon series, he changed his mind and found the story's themes of prejudice and discrimination compelling. This is the only film in the X-Men franchise to be an original story. All of the other movies were loosely based on specific stories from the comic books.

In a world where both Mutants and Humans fear each other, Marie, better known as Rogue, runs away from home and hitches a ride with another mutant, known as Logan, a.k.a. Wolverine. Charles Xavier, who owns a school for young mutants, sends Storm and Cyclops to bring them back before it is too late. Magneto, who believes a war is approaching, has an evil plan in mind, and needs young Rogue to help him.

2002 - BLADE II - New Line Cinema

I guess we could say that Blade was the first Marvel movie franchise to get a theatrical sequel. I thought the sequel was actually better than the first film, and that might be thanks to its director, Guillermo del Toro. A lot of people were hoping that del Toro would direct Dr. Strange when that film was still searching for a director a year or so ago, but a lot of people forget that he already directed a Marvel movie when superhero films were just starting to become a thing. The Marvel character Morbius was originally wanted as a primary villain in the story, but Marvel decided they wanted to keep the rights to the character so they could make an entirely separate franchise out of Morbius, but that obviously never happened. That would have been pretty rad, though.

A rare mutation has occurred within the vampire community. The Reaper. A vampire so consumed with an insatiable bloodlust that they prey on vampires as well as humans, transforming victims who are unlucky enough to survive into Reapers themselves. Now their quickly expanding population threatens the existence of vampires, and soon there won't be enough humans in the world to satisfy their bloodlust. Blade, Whistler (Yes, he's back) and an armory expert named Scud are curiously summoned by the Shadow Council. The council reluctantly admits that they are in a dire situation and they require Blade's assistance. Blade then tenuously enters into an alliance with The Bloodpack, an elite team of vampires trained in all modes of combat to defeat the Reaper threat. Blade's team and the Bloodpack are the only line of defense which can prevent the Reaper population from wiping out the vampire and human populations.

2002 - SPIDER-MAN - Columbia Pictures

James Cameron famously developed this movie and had a pretty unconventional take on it, but it was Sam Raimi who ultimately ushered in a new breed of comic book filmmaking. I enjoyed both Blade and X-Men, but Spider-Man was always a favorite superhero of mine, so seeing this iconic character brought to life on the big screen for the first time was a mind-blowing experience for me, and thankfully it was awesome! This was the first Marvel movie I saw that gave me chills. Hugh Jackman said that Wolverine was originally supposed to have a brief cameo in the film. Jackman actually showed up in New York to film the scene, but the plan was scrapped because the crew couldn't get access to the Wolverine costume from the X-Men movie. This could have been the first Marvel feature film with a crossover. Spider-Man was also the very first movie ever to gross $100 million in its opening weekend alone. This was the moment Hollywood was like, “We need to cash in on these comic books!” This was also the first Marvel movie to feature the opening Marvel logo with the flipping pages.

When bitten by a genetically modified spider, a nerdy, shy, and awkward high school student gains spider-like abilities that he eventually must use to fight evil as a superhero after tragedy befalls his family.

2003 - DAREDEVIL - 20th Century Fox

There was a lot of excitement in the air with the rise of superheroes films with X-Men and Spider-Man, and then Daredevil came out. This was such a huge disappointment, and it was the first major comic book movie to be released in this modern age of films that enraged fans. To this day people still can’t let go of the awfulness of Daredevil. There was one good thing that did come from the film though. It was during this production that actor and director Jon Favreau started discussions with Marvel over what would eventually become Iron Man. Favreau played Franklin 'Foggy' Nelson in the movie.

Fate deals young orphan Matt Murdock a strange hand when he is doused with hazardous waste. The accident leaves Matt blind but also gives him a heightened "radar sense" that allows him to "see" far better than any man. Years later Murdock has grown into a man and becomes a respected criminal attorney. But after he's done his "day job" Matt takes on a secret identity as "The Man Without Fear," Daredevil, the masked avenger that patrols the neighborhood of Hell's Kitchen and New York City to combat the injustice that he cannot tackle in the courtroom.

2003 - X2: X-MEN UNITED - 20th Century Fox

After the Daredevil box-office bomb, 20th Century Fox recovered with Singer's sequel to X-Men, and it was a great flick! That opening sequence with Nightcrawler in the White House was insane! At the time, the film was listed in The Guinness Book of World Records as having ”The Widest Film Release.” It opened on 3,741 screens on the same day. After production was completed on the film, Hugh Jackman was reportedly offered the role of Frank Castle in the 2004 film The Punisher, but he turned it down. That would have been interesting!

The X-Men band together to find a mutant assassin who has made an attempt on the President's life, while the Mutant Academy is attacked by military forces.

2003 - HULK - Universal Studios

Ang Lee’s Hulk didn’t get a lot of love from the fans, but I enjoyed it. I really liked the comic book visual style that he implemented into the film. Then there was his version of the Hulk transformation, which I loved. I thought the casting and story was great as well. People didn’t seem to like the tragic, serious tone that it had, but now that’s something we see in a lot of superhero movies. Edward Norton was offered the lead role in this movie, but turned it down, only to accept it later in the 2008 version. Director Joe Johnston was also originally supposed to direct it, but turned it down to film October Sky. He later went on to direct Captain America: The First Avenger.

Bruce Banner, a brilliant scientist with a cloudy past about his family, is involved in an accident in his laboratory causing him to become exposed to gamma radiation and Nanomeds (A tiny life-form that is supposed to heal wounds but has killed everything with which they have made contact). Confused and curious about his survival, Banner discovers that since the accident, whenever he becomes angry he transforms into a giant green monster destroying everything in sight in an act of fury. Bruce's mysterious past and the answer to why the radiation had this effect becomes revealed to him as his Birth Father David Banner intervenes with hopes to continue experimenting on him.

Lionsgate has picked up the film right to the sci-fi strategy board game Dust, and they will adapt it as a feature film. Director Rawson Marshall Thurber is attached to helm it. He is the same director who brought us the funny comedies We're the Millers and Dodgeball: A True Underdog Story.

I've never played Dust, but it's set in "an alternate history steampunk-themed version of the 1940s where World War II never ended and the world is divided into three blocs: the Allies, comprised of the US, the Commonwealth, and the French colonies; the Axis, not led by Hitler, who was successfully assassinated in Operation Valkerie; and the SSU, a union of the USSR and China. In this landscape the discovery of new ore leads to the creation of combat robots."

Dust sounds like it has all the makings of an awesome movie! The game was created by Paolo Parente, and it also has a graphic novel and even its own convention. Parente is a fantasy illustrator who also worked on other role playing games such as The Mutant Chronicles and Magic: The Gathering before creating his own.

Thurber is mostly known for his comedy work, but it seems like these are the kinds of films he really wants to make. In fact, he's the one who optioned the rights to the property. According to THR, he's also been taking on various fantasy-type writing assignments for projects such as an adaption of the comic book fantasy Elfquest for Warner Bros. as well as an adaptation of Gerard Way’s comic The Umbrella Academy for Universal and Dark Horse.

The writer and director had this to say in a statement:

“It’s a cool spin on a genre that I’ve loved for a long time and it opens up narrative avenues that are just thrilling. It’s all my nine year-old fantasies wrapped in one thing, a World War Two mash-up.”

I think there's big franchise potential with something like this. Especially if Thurber delivers a badass movie that audiences will enjoy. It definitely sounds like something I'd like to see. It will be cool to see how this thing turns out.

FINAL FANTASY TYPE-0 HD Sleek & Stylish Sice Cosplay

Credit is due to the talented duo of cosplayer Meo Chan and photographer Sketch Turner, both of which are responsible for the sleek photo set you see here. Meo Chan’s take on Sice from Final Fantasy Type-0 is spot on, as is the giant Scythe she wields. You can catch the character portrait below, and as you can see it's pretty dead to rights. Turner’s slick photography takes it home, though, as the environments are greatly enhanced by his vibrant swathes of blue and red accents and the poses cement her status as the member of the Class Zero Squad you would most want to avoid on the battlefield. You can catch Meo Chan on Facebook, and make sure to take a look at Sketch Turner's Deviant Art or Portfolio pages to see more of his work.

Zachary Quinto Joins Season 3 of HANNIBAL

Zachary Quinto is gearing up to reprise his role as Mr. Spock in Star Trek 3 (rest in peace, Leonard Nimoy), but the actor also has a new TV gig on the horizon. According to EW, the Heroes star will join the cast of NBC's Hannibal for at least one episode in its upcoming third season.

This is a guest-starring role, and Quinto will appear as a patient of Dr. Bedelia du Maurier (Gillian Anderson), so it seems fairly likely that he'll end up getting killed off relatively quickly. Still, it should be good to see Quinto in a new TV role; his work on The Slap hasn't exactly earned him any new fans, and this should be a far cry from his character on HBO's Girls. Are you looking forward to seeing Quinto potentially come face to face with Dr. Lecter (Mads Mikkelsen) in the new season?
