BOYHOOD MEETS WORLD Mash-Up Video

0
0

Laugh all you want, but Boy Meets World is one of my favorite TV shows. While many of the episodes are heavy-handed and super cheesy, there's also some terrific stuff in there about family, making tough choices, and growing up. I watched it religiously growing up, and I'll still occasionally tune in to a rerun if I see it pop up on TV.

Richard Linklater's Boyhood, which just received six Oscar nominations this morning, is a cinematic achievement like no other, spanning twelve years and becoming one of the most beloved films of 2014. YouTube user Avery Monsen cut together a mash-up using the music from Boyhood's trailer (as well as some of the fonts and title cards, slightly altered) with footage from Boy Meets World, showing a young Cory Matthews (Ben Savage) growing from a curly-haired little kid into a curly-haired man. Because of my love for BMW, this is one of the most touching mash-ups I've seen in a while. Check it out below.

(Also: this picture was just taken yesterday of the cast reuniting for season two of Girl Meets World.)

Hysterical New Trailer for GET HARD with Will Ferrell and Kevin Hart

hysterical-new-trailer-for-get-hard-with-will-ferrell-and-kevin-hart

Here's an awesome trailer for Will Ferrell and Kevin Hart's upcoming comedy Get Hard, which is sure to make you laugh. Tropic Thunder writer Etan Cohen is the brains behind the film, and the story centers on a millionaire hedge fund manager who is convicted of fraud and sentenced to prison. He's scared to death to go, so he recruits the guy who washes his car to help prepare him for prison. What Ferrell's character doesn't know, though, is that Hart's character has never even been to prison. In the process of fake preparation, hilarious hijinks ensue. The film opens up on March 27th, 2015, and it also stars T.I.Alison Brie, and Craig T. Nelson

Tom Hardy Drops Out of SUICIDE SQUAD, Jake Gyllenhaal Might Replace Him

Update: Jake Gyllenhaal is reportedly being eyed to replace Hardy. More on that at the bottom of this page. Original article follows.

The A-list cast of Suicide Squad just lost their leader.

THR reports that Tom Hardy has bailed from David Ayer's Suicide Squad, and though the reasons for his exit aren't known at this time, scheduling is being pegged as the culprit...for now. Hardy is currently shooting The Revenant with his Inception co-star Leonardo DiCaprio for Birdman director Alejandro Gonzales Inarritu, and filming for that film is expected to longer than originally anticipated.

Hardy leaves behind a cast that includes Will Smith (Deadshot), Margot Robbie (Harley Quinn), Jared Leto (The Joker), Jai Courtney (Captain Boomerang), and Cara Delevigne (Enchantress). He would have played Rick Flagg, the leader of the team of villains who are given a chance to redeem their crimes by serving the government as secret operatives. This would have been Hardy's second time playing a DC Comics character, following his famous portrayal of Bane in Christopher Nolan's The Dark Knight Rises.

As a fan of Hardy, I'm torn about this. It sucks that he won't join such a great cast in this movie, but hopefully it'll mean he can move on to something better suited for him. Who do you think should take his place as Rick Flagg in Suicide Squad? Let us know below.

Update: TheWrap reports that David Ayer is courting his End of Watch star Jake Gyllenhaal to replace Hardy in the film. No deal has been made yet, but with Gyllenhaal coming off of a fantastic performance in the indie film Nightcrawler, it'd be interesting to see him jump into a mainstream superhero movie - especially since he's come close to playing Spider-Man and Batman over the years.

15 Classic Movies with Craptastic NES Video Game Adaptations

0
0

There are plenty of awful movies based on video games out there, but today I thought I’d switch it up a bit and put together a list of great, classic films that got crappy video game adaptations. As I looked back at many of the games, I realized how bad some of them really were. I owned and played several of these games growing up, but as bad as they were, I still had fun playing many of them. I was a little kid growing up in the 80s - I didn't know any better!

These are games I got because of how much I loved the movies they were based on. A lot of the time I spent playing these games was full of frustration because many of them were practically impossible to beat. I don’t recall beating any of these games! These were all made in the infancy of video games, but that’s no excuse for making games that were bad and ridiculously hard to play. There were a lot of cool games being made at the time, too! So we know it wasn't impossible to make a great game with good gameplay mechanics. But this list shows that you can still sometimes have fun playing a bad game, just like you can have fun watching a bad movie.

Back to the Future (NES 1989)

This game was so bad that screenwriter Bob Gale called it "one of the worst games ever," and even encouraged fans of the movie not to buy it. This game should have been so much more than what it was. The gameplay was terrible and they used a sped up version of "The Power of Love" which looped throughout almost the whole the game; it made me hate that song.

Friday the 13th (NES 1989)

This is considered by many to be one of the worst video games ever made. The gameplay was incredibly frustrating, and it didn't carry any weight of fear or horror at all. Let's face it: none of the kids wanted to play as a camp counselor trying to kill Jason. They wanted to play as Jason trying to kill the camp counselors and kids. That’s the truth of it, and that’s what they should have done for a game based on a R-rated horror film.

Ghostbusters (NES 1988)

I played this game a lot more than I should have. I hated this game as a kid, but for some reason I just couldn’t stop playing the damn thing. I always made it to the battle with Zuul, but could never freakin’ beat her! The ending in the NES version was also full of spelling, grammar, and punctuation mistakes that I think are funny.

“CONGLATURATION !!!
YOU HAVE COMPLETED
A GREAT GAME.
AND PROOVED THE JUSTICE
OF OUR CULTURE.
NOW GO AND REST OUR
HEROES !”

— End of game message.

In the 2009 Ghostbusters: The Video Game, they actually have that ending shown on a computer in Egon's Lab Area.

Jaws (NES 1989)

This game is loosely based on Steven Spielberg’s Jaws, but it’s more in line with the fourth and final film in the franchise, Jaws: The Revenge. In the game, the player basically pilots a boat on the ocean looking for Jaws. When the boat comes across something, a diver is released in the water so he can battle various creature such as a jellyfish, sting rays, and smaller sharks. Of course the main goal is to hunt down Jaws and kill it, which takes forever. The game was sloppy, repetitive, and just plain boring.

Who Framed Roger Rabbit (NES 1989)

The controls for this game were awful, especially in the overhead driving levels. Then there was the boss battle at the end with Judge Doom, which was unreasonably difficult. How in the hell were kids supposed to enjoy playing this game!? There was one cool aspect in which the player could find a 1-800 toll-free phone number (1-800-232-3324), and if you called it, the number it would play a recorded message of Jessica Rabbit offering tips for the game. This is one of the things she would say:

"It is shocking the way some neighborhoods are getting. You practically can't walk anywhere without running into stray dogs, cats, and other animals. It makes you wish you carried a piece of meat, a fish bone, or a piece of cheese around with you. The weasel that is guarding Judge Doom's warehouse is the one called Stupid. I've heard that the only thing that'll get him to leave is a quick game of softball. Know anyplace where you could get a baseball in a hurry?"

It didn't make playing the game any easier though.

Totat Recall (NES 1990)

Apparently, this version of the video game was supposed to have stuck closer to the spirit of the original short story by Philip K. Dick than the movie adaptation. The developers said that it "read more like a platformer.” All I know is that it was funny watching Douglas Quaid epically punching people across the screen. There’s also a moment in the game where he walks into a movie theater to watch the credits of the game. This thing got terrible reviews.

Dick Tracy (NES 1990)

The objective of this game was to solve mysteries without accusing the wrong person or shooting too many unarmed bad guys and killing them. What's the fun in that!? You drove around town following clues about where to go. There were fifteen of Tracy’s crazy weird villains featured in the game. What I hated about this game is that it was extremely hard to beat and it didn’t have any extra lives or continues if you died. Whenever Tracy punched a person, he would ridiculously spin and slide on the ground and bounce off of walls for some reason.

Lethal Weapon (NES 1992)

In this side-scrolling video game, Murtaugh and Riggs battle it out with criminals around the city of Los Angeles. The only way they know how to resolve the conflicts they come up against are through fists, guns, and grenades. The game wasn't easy to play and it was pretty frustrating. I thought it was ridiculous that it was easier to take down bad guys by punching them rather than shooting them.

The Karate Kid (NES 1987)

There are only four levels in the game, and it encompasses the first two movies. You basically play through the major events of the films such as Daniel LaRusso competing in the All Valley Karate Tournament. After that, he goes to Japan, where he has to beat up random thugs who are causing trouble. He even has to do this through a typhoon at one point. This game wasn’t really all that bad. I had a lot of fun playing this one. I always enjoyed the challenge scenes where he has to catch flies with chopsticks and karate chop ice.

Wayne World (NES 1993)

This game was just all-around completely awful, and it made absolutely no sense. Players used both Wayne and Garth in different levels of the game, and each had a different weapon. Garth used a laser gun and Wayne went around kicking things. I don’t know why, but they were fighting instruments, records, and fat people throughout the game. The graphics sucked so hard!

The Hunt for Red October (NES 1990)

The game featured deep sea submarine combat, and the object was to eliminate bad guys and try not to get killed. This was just a bad idea for a game and the execution of it was lazy and terrible. It was also impossible to beat unless you were a wizard of gaming. The movie was freakin’ awesome, but it didn’t need this crappy game to go along with it. This is one of those games that you never need to play.

The Terminator (NES 1989)

This went into development under Sunsoft in 1989 under the name Journey to Silius, which was going to be a game based on James Cameron’s film. While they were making the game the Terminator license expired, and it had to be released as another game with altered graphics and story. The Terminator game was eventually picked up and developed by Radical Entertainment, and you can tell that it was a rush job. Gamers play as Kyle Reese, and he goes around killing Terminators. The music was atrocious and it just played the same 5 second loop over and over again.

Home Alone (NES 1991)

This game was ridiculous as the player had to avoid being caught by the Wet Bandits for 20 full minutes while they are chasing him around the house. You can set up traps using various items around the house to keep them from catching you. If you get caught, it was an automatic "game over" and you had to start over. If you can last the full 20 minutes, you win the game. The problem was, most people could barely last 5 minutes. The mechanics of the game pretty much make it a hopeless battle. The concept for the game sucked - it was repetitive and just incredibly boring.

Top Gun (NES 1987)

I used to play this game all the time. I loved it, mostly because when I was a kid I wanted to be a pilot. There were two main points of gameplay. You would take off and go out on a dogfight mission, and when you were done you had to land the aircraft. Landing the plane was always so damn hard! I died so many times trying to land that damn plane. The player had to control both the speed and angle of aircraft to land it just right. I remember getting pissed off at this game so much because of how hard it was to land the stupid-ass jet.

Bill & Ted’s Excellent Video Game Adventure (NES 1991)

It really wasn’t all that excellent. Players could play as either Bill or Ted, depending on the level. The goal was to search for the stranded historical figures' various worlds throughout history and return people to their rightful times. Once you found the historical figure, you had to gain their trust. To do that, you had to find items called historical bait hidden within each world. The only problem was, they were so hard to find! I remember walking around forever trying to find some of these items only to never find them. This game was definitely more of a bogus journey.

Liam Neeson Rescues A Dog in Jimmy Kimmel's TAKEN 4 Trailer

Have you seen Taken 3? I thought Taken 2 was so terrible that I refused to check out the third movie in the franchise, but I guess I was alone in that sentiment because the third film is currently the number one movie at the box office.

Jimmy Kimmel and his team put together a fake trailer for Taken 4 which you can watch below, and while star Liam Neeson famously went on the record years ago saying a third movie would be ridiculous, it seems he's learned his lesson this time: he told Fox News that he'd be open to doing a fourth one.

"There’s always…I think if audiences go and see it and they like these characters, I mean, I'd love to do something with Forest again, and if it's in a 'Taken 4' scenario…great."

So don't be surprised if you see Bryan Mills bust some skulls again in the future. In the meantime, watch him rescue Guillermo's dog in the video below.

A couple of weeks ago, we got our first teaser trailer for the upcoming series Thunderbirds Are Go! All it included was a distress call and a glimpse at the redesigned Thunderbird 5. Today, we have our first look at the Tracy brothers team, who are the main characters in the series, and as you can see the CGI character designs replicate the look of the old marionette puppets from the original 1965 series.

Below you will find some additional details on the upcoming series. I'm kinda excited to see how this turns out!

Featuring effects by Weta Workshop, the iconic series is coming back and features a cast led by Rosamund Pike (Gone Girl) as Lady Penelope and David Graham (“Thunderbirds” 1965) reprising his role as chauffeur and International Rescue agent Parker.
Unstoppable inventor Brains will be voiced by Kayvan Novak, while Tracy brothers Gordon and John are both played by Thomas Brodie-Sangster (Love Actually, “Game of Thrones”). Rasmus Hardiker voices both the youngest and oldest Tracy brothers, Alan and Scott. The fifth Tracy brother, Virgil, will be played by David Menkin. Tracy Island matriarch Grandma Tracy is voiced by Sandra Dickinson and master villain The Hood is played by Andres Williams.
“Thunderbirds Are Go!” will feature new characters including Kayo, the Tracy brothers’’ friend and fellow island resident, who will be played by Angel Coulby, and Colonel Casey voiced by Adjoa Andoh (“Doctor Who”). This re-invention of Gerry and Sylvia Anderson’s much-loved series will be produced using an innovative mix of CGI animation and live-action miniature sets.

Watch The Wachowskis Talk About Their Career in 100 Minute Interview

Andy and Lana Wachowski are two of the most dynamic filmmakers working in Hollywood today. Their 2012 masterpiece, Cloud Atlas, was overlooked by nearly everyone, but it's a stunningly emotional and vibrant piece of work that will almost certainly be looked back on fondly as an example of ambitious and risky filmmaking that you don't see too often in today's movie landscape. The directors, who most notably created The Matrix franchise, directed yet another underrated film - 2008's Speed Racer - and finally have Jupiter Ascending arriving in theaters this year.

/Film points us to a 100 minute interview the filmmaking duo did last year with the DePaul Visiting Artist Series, in which the writing/directing team talk about everything from developing projects to their influences and much more. It's a fascinating discussion, and worth watching if you're a fan of their work. (For example: did you ever recognize that Snow White and the Huntsman and Moonrise Kingdom are essentially the same movie? Me neither.) Check it out below.

Warwick Davis May Have Just Confirmed a STAR WARS: THE FORCE AWAKENS Spoiler

Possible spoilers ahead for Star Wars: The Force Awakens.

Three months ago, we found out that Warwick Davis, who played the Ewok Wicket in Return of the Jedi, has been cast in a mystery role in J.J. Abrams' upcoming Star Wars: The Force Awakens. Before that, we'd heard rumors that Darth Vader would appear in a flashback, and now it appears that Davis may have confirmed the rumor with a new photo.

Davis was a guest on The One Show last night (via Yahoo UK), and though he didn't give any specific details about the upcoming blockbuster, he did share two selfies he took on the set at Pinewood Studios in London. One is in front of Chewbacca, who we already knew for sure was confirmed to return, and the other is in front of Darth Vader, who - as far as I can tell - hasn't been officially confirmed to be appearing in the film. But if Davis took this pic on the set of the movie, it seems pretty clear that Vader will appear on screen, at least for a minute or two.

Star Wars: The Force Awakens opens in theaters on December 18th, 2015.

The Force is Strong with This X-Wing Baby Rocker

Steves Wooden Toys created this magnificent baby rocker that was inspired by the X-Wing in the Star Wars movies. He called it the "Rocking Ride-in X-Wing," and if you have a newborn baby it would be perfect - especially if you're looking to raise them as geeks. This is probably a lot better choice than the Jaws baby bed that eats babies.

The rocker is made entirely from solid wood, which includes pine, native macrocarpa, and rimu. It also features a removable wooden R2-D2 that sits in the back, as well as detachable wings “for ease of intergalactic travel in the back of a medium sized car.”

Accelerate to attack speed as you approach the death star. Stabilize your rear deflectors and watch for enemy fighters. This rocking ride in Star Wars X-wing fighter is made from solid wood… pine, native macrocarpa and rimu. Removable wooden R2D2 sits in the back.

Size: 1150mm long, 1200mm wide, 650mm tall ( seating area is 280mm wide ).

Wings can be unbolted to allow for ease of intergalactic travel in the back of a medium sized car.

James Gunn Gives His Take on the 2015 Oscar Nominations

0
0

Since the Oscar nominations were announced this morning, it seems like everyone has been sounding off with their opinions about what The Academy got right and wrong. Guardians of the Galaxy director James Gunn is no exception, and the filmmaker took to Facebook to post a long list of thoughts - both positive and negative - about the choices the voters made.

As usual, he makes some great points (especially about Whiplash). But there's one thing I'd like to add to his list of observations: the lack of a nomination for Best Director for Selma's Ava DuVernay. Her film was nominated for Best Picture, but for whatever reason, her peers failed to give her the respect she deserves. Scott Mendelson at Forbes wrote a great piece detailing exactly why that matters, and I'd highly recommend checking it out. Anyway, check out what Gunn had to say below.

Post by James Gunn.

Unsourced Rumors vs. Official Denials

0
0

Yesterday, we reported on a rumor about Spider-Man finally joining the Marvel cineverse. The site we sourced was Latino-Review, which brought on a few moans from readers. A few of the most common things I read were along the lines of "what's the name of the source" and "those guys have no credibility." There is a big reason why I trust reports/scoops coming from Latino-Review, and that requires a bit of disclosure on my part. First, I've been working on a documentary called Movie Blog Movie for a few years, and I've been able to interview the team behind Latino-Review. They have shared with me who they get their intelligence from and how the team trades and verifies information. Finally, because I'm making a documentary I'm also keeping score, which means I know they have more wins than losses.

Now that I've gone out of my way to defend a single colleague, let me drop a bit of information that I've observed on movie rumor reporting in general.

Unnamed Sources

Rumors about movies by their very nature can never have a named source, because if there were a named source then it wouldn't be a rumor.

If you want a clue on who the source might be, you need to think about when it was leaked and what type of information it is. If it's a casting rumor, the list of people with that kind of information is really small — the actor, the talent agency, the producer, the director, the casting agent. Those leaks can, for example, come from a powerful producer essentially "calling dibs" on an actor's schedule.

Motivation can give you some clues as well. For example, leaked story details while a script is in development could come from a writer trying to see if his ideas will piss off fans. Rumors about the death or recasting of a character could leak from a studio executive trying to have leverage in negotiating an actor's contract down.

While not precise, knowing who could have access to that information at that time and who benefits from it can help narrow down where the leak came from.

Because I know this, the studios know this, and our colleagues know this, sometimes information (usually plot details) is held for months in an effort to protect the identity of sources.

Official Subterfuge

Representatives of actors and the production studios will always deny rumors, and it's a tack they have to take. Confirming rumors only lends the sites that break that news more credibility. Depending on the timing of an official announcement, studios will often elect to say nothing. So when is a denial real and when is it subterfuge? Again, it comes back to timing and motivation.

Let's take Sony Pictures and their recent "Spider-Man in the Marvel cineverse" denial. We know parent company Sony wants the deal to happen - hell, it sounds like the internet at large wants it to happen. What does Sony gain by putting out a denial? What does Marvel Studios gain from remaining silent? Until an official announcement about Amazing Spider-Man 3 comes out or Marvel says they tried and it didn't happen, I don't think the denial has much credibility.

Truth - Time = Final Product

Ultimately, the reason reports from credible sites don't show themselves in the final deal/movie is because they are a snapshot of things as they are and not of how they will be. The earlier in development, the more likely things will change. This is also why some sites sit on information for so long, letting things develop more to make sure the trajectory of the movie or deal won't change.

Who's Credible?

The trades like Variety and The Wrap are the closest you can get to an official announcement. After that there are the blogs (in alphabetical order) Badass Digest, HitFix, and Latino-Review. The reason those blogs are so credible is the number of times they have been sourced by the trades. Finally, when a big scoop comes out, the trades will contact their sources to see if it's credible before reporting, which is how these "rumors" show up everywhere.

I hope I haven't been too vague and have given enough insight to how things operate when it comes to reporting movie rumors.

FOX Is Reportedly Not Happy with Josh Trank's FANTASTIC FOUR Reboot

0
0

Uh-oh! It sounds like 20th Century Fox isn't very happy with what Josh Trank has done with his Fantastic Four reboot. The news comes from Bleeding Cool, who says that some people within the studio are calling the film “Chronicle 2 rather than Fantastic 4,″ and that it's not what the studio wanted to see. On top of that, one of the senior executives at the studio told the site that the movie was "a mess."

Well, that's not good. Of course, many of you seemed to figure that this was where Fantastic Four was headed, so I'm sure some of you aren't surprised by this news. X-Men: First Class director Matthew Vaughn recently said that he saw the movie and that it was, simply, "good." It didn't seem like he was enthusiastic about it, though.

The report goes on to say that the studio is demanding reshoots and that they are freeing up millions of dollars to make that happen. They also say that the sets are already being rebuilt in Louisiana.

If this is all to be believed, then Fantastic Four could end up being a terrible film. If the movie turns out to be as bad as it sounds, the franchise might die altogether. That is, until Marvel Studios gets their hands back on the property. I think they are the only studio that fans will trust with these characters at this point.

I was actually trying to keep hoping that this movie would be good, but that hope is fading fast. Then again, Badass Digest says that the reshoots have been planned for over a month, so maybe things aren't quite as dire as they seem.

Black Widow's Return in CAPTAIN AMERICA: CIVIL WAR Confirmed

The last couple of days have been filled with all kinds of news that involves Captain America: Civil War. You can read a bunch of spoiler-filled rumors here, and screenwriters Christopher Markus and Stephen McFeely talked a little bit about the movie as well, which you can read up on here. Directors Anthony and Joe Russo have jumped into the fun, and while speaking at a press event in Beijing with Sina.com (via CBM), the pair confirmed that Scarlett Johansson will return as Black Widow in the film.

“We've been preparing for the movie since the one debuted last year,” Anthony said. “So, we've been working on it for a long time now. We’re very happy how it’s coming along. Captain America 3 is gonna be called Captain America: Civil War and it’s going to star Chris Evans, Scarlett Johansson will be back, Winter Soldier will be back, and Robert Downey Jr. as Iron Man will also be joining us in the next film.”

It seems like Civil War is going to include many of the Avengers in, as it should! So far, some of the other characters it includes are Anthony Mackie as The Falcon, Chadwick Boseman as Black Panther, Daniel Bruhl in a mystery role, Frank Grillo as Crossbones, and maybe Jeremy Renner as Hawkeye. There's always the chance they could include even more.

Captain America: Civil War is set for release on May 6th, 2016.

The episode is officially described as follows:

“In an attempt to get his job back, Gordon seeks to capture Jack Gruber (Heyerdahl), a deranged electrical genius who escapes Arkham Asylum. Meanwhile, Falcone struggles to hold onto his empire after Fish Mooney makes her next move.”

“What The Little Bird Told Him” is set to air January 19th. I don't know about you, but this is one of those shows that I just can't get enough of.

Everything Wrong with TEENAGE MUTANT NINJA TURTLES (2014)

everything-wrong-with-teenage-mutant-ninja-turtles-2014

Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles was easily my least favorite movie of 2014. I loathed that film. It was just such a terribly made film in every way, so the gang at Cinema Sins can tear it apart all they want, and they do in their latest "Everything Wrong" video. They came up with 221 sins, and it took them over 20 minutes to point them all out. Regardless of how bad this movie was, it made a ton of money, and a sequel is on the way, so we have that to look forward to.

Crazy Trailer for the Horror Comedy BLOODSUCKING BASTARDS

0
0

Looks like we've got a great new horror comedy coming our way called Bloodsucking Bastards. The story takes place in an office workplace environment, and it centers on a man who loses a promotion to his office rival. To make things even worse, some of his co-workers start to be killed off and turned into vampires, and he and a few of his friends have to fight to survive. It's like Office Space meets Shaun of the Dead, except with vampires instead of zombies. This looks like an insanely fun flick that I know I'll enjoy. Here's the synopsis:

An action-packed horror comedy, BLOODSUCKING BASTARDS stars Fran Kranz as Evan, a dutiful and overworked employee stuck at a soul-killing corporation with his beautiful co-worker and girlfriend Amanda and his slacker best friend Tim. Evans world begins to crumble when Amanda dumps him and his boss Ted. hands his coveted promotion to his nemesis Max. When his office mates start going through disturbing changes, Evan must find a way to stop the evil brewing admist the cubicles, and rescue his workplace pals before his life and career go from dead-end... to just dead.

The movie stars Fran Kranz (Cabin in the Woods, Dollhouse), Pedro Pascal (Game of Thrones), Emma Fitzpatrick (The Social Network, The Collection), Joey Kern (Cabin Fever, Super Troopers), Joel Murray (God Bless America, Monsters University), and Yvette Yates (Inherent Vice).

The movie is set to be shown at the Slamdance Film Festival later this month on January 23rd.

Jimmy Kimmel invited Sir Patrick Stewart to come on Jimmy Kimmel Live to play five irritating types of people that you might have encountered on an airplane.

The skit is called "The Most Annoying People on the Plane," and Stewart hilariously portrays a number of different people, including ones who won't stop talking to you; who will crawl over you to go to the bathroom; who bring their own disgusting food and eat it next to you; hwo kick the back of your seat; and finally, the person who claps when the plane lands.

Of course, if it was really Patrick Stewart sitting next to you in a plane doing these things, I don’t think anyone would care…it’s Patrick Stewart!

Surprise Setting for KONG: SKULL ISLAND Revealed

We've got some new intel on Legendary Pictures' Kong: Skull Island thanks to actor J.K. Simmons, who was recently cast in the film. During an interview with MTV, the actor reveals some interesting and surprising details on where part of the film will take place, and the era that the story is set in.

“When it first came to my attention, ‘There’s interest in you for a new ‘King Kong,’ I thought, ‘Okay… Why?’ But then I met with Jordan Vogt-Roberts, who’s going to be directing it and John Gatins, who’s writing and Tom [Hiddleston]. Jordan was just so passionate and so smart. It’s such an interesting, new take on it. It’s set in Detroit in 1971, which is where I grew up. We’re going to shoot it in Detroit during baseball season, so I’ll be able to go to Tigers games! There’s a lot to like about this movie!”

Of course, a major part of the film will also be set on Skull Island, which is located off the coast of Sumatra. But isn't that cool? Detroit 1971...that will make for such a great setting! We've got a hell of a long way to go before we see anything for this movie, but so far things are coming together nicely. Especially with the possibility of Michael Keaton joining the production.

KONG: SKULL ISLAND will fully immerse audiences in the mysterious and dangerous home of the king of the apes as a team of explorers ventures deep inside the treacherous, primordial island. Legendary’s story honors the foundations of existing King Kong lore, but places it in an entirely new, distinct timeline.

The film is set for release on March 10th, 2017. As a huge fan of Kong, it's going to be really fun to follow the development of this project.

Stunning GAME OF THRONES Posters To Be Given Away at IMAX Screenings

(Spoiler warning for the final two episodes of Season 4 of Game of Thrones.)

When news came out that Game of Thrones would be playing in IMAX theaters, I was excited because I thought HBO might show the Season 5 premiere in the large format theaters so people could experience never-before-seen looks at Westeros on the biggest possible screens. I was a little disappointed to discover that the network had only remastered the final two episodes of Season 4 (though you will get to see an exclusive trailer for the upcoming season, so that's kind of cool). IMAX and HBO have actually delayed the release by one week and added theaters due to high demand (find out where it's playing), and they're now offering one more reason why you should think about buying tickets.

The first 300 IMAX ticket holders for Thursday night opening show (January 29th at 10pm) will receive one of these awesome posters from artist Robert Ball, who created interpretations of the most iconic deaths of each episode of the series. His work is absolutely breathtaking (though I'll warn you against visiting his site unless you're completely caught up on the show), and any of his prints would look awesome displayed just about anywhere. If you're lucky enough to be one of the first 300 people with tickets (which go on sale here today), you'll get a poster featuring Ygritte from "The Watchers on the Wall" (at AMC IMAX locations) or Tywin Lannister in "The Children." Very, very cool stuff. Good luck getting one!
