Full Bar Fight Scene From KINGSMAN: THE SECRET SERVICE

$

0

The first time I saw anything for Kingsman: The Secret Service was at last year's WonderCon and it was the bar fight scene. So far in the trailers you've only seen parts of this scene or a largely truncated version, but today FOX has released the scene in its entirety. Also, they've released a clip that takes place in the weapons cache and a new TV spot. I've been excited to watch this movie since WonderCon, and really hope it's as fun as director Matthew Vaughn says it is.

Kingsman: The Secret Service swaggers into theaters February 13th (USA).

R2-D2 WITH SUBTITLES is Full of Insults and One-Liners

Yesterday, we wrote about a video which revealed that Chewbacca, Groot, and Hodor could actually understand each other speak. But there's another Star Wars character whose communication skills are tough to understand: R2-D2. The folks at Eclectic Method have cut together a supercut of the little droid trying to talk to people (or other droids), and they've put subtitles on it so we can all follow along.

Turns out the droid has quite an attitude, and the way he insults the other characters almost feels like he's doing stand-up and ripping into hecklers at a comedy club. Check it out below, and let us know what you think.

MONOPOLY Movie To Shoot This Summer, Cast & Director Announcements Coming Soon

Remember when board game movies were all the rage in Hollywood? There was a time a few years ago when it looked like we were going to see an influx of board game films make their way into theaters, but thankfully most of them fell apart after the failure of Battleship. (Pour one out for the Candy Land movie starring Adam Sandler.) At one point there were talks of Ridley Scott directing a Monopoly film, and while that idea sounded totally nuts, that particular project is still moving forward - though without the legendary filmmaker involved.

Collider recently spoke with producer Randall Emmett, who revealed that Monopoly has been quietly gaining steam:

“We've worked on the script for about nine months, we now have a script that we’re going to go make this summer.”

Production will likely take place in Georgia or Louisiana, with some major exterior work done on the boardwalk in Atlantic City. (Will that be the famous "Boardwalk" from the game?) As for who will direct the project, Emmett said:

“[For] the director, we’re on a shortlist of a few names, and we’re beyond excited about whichever of these directors ends up coming together.  The cast is young kids but there is one lead, older—a guy chasing kids, lets say.”

The guys at Collider mentioned that plot sounded a little like The Goonies, and the producer indicated that's the vibe they're going for with this film:

“That’s a perfect analogy to what Monopoly will hopefully be.  There is a treasure map…It’s a family adventure film. We really spent a lot of time on the script really trying to create family fun for everybody."

I'm just surprised this movie is still in the works at all. Emmett also said that we can expect an official announcement of a director, cast, and a logline in the beginning of February, so it looks like we won't have much longer to wait to see who is going to be bringing this story to the big screen. If it's a team like Phil Lord and Chris Miller, or someone with an interesting visual style, then this might not be a disaster of an idea. I'm trying to be optimistic, but we'll see who ends up being associated with this one.

If you've ever wondered how Dr. Seuss may have depicted all of the Doctors on Doctor Who, DeviantArt user DrfaustusAU has created a pretty damn convincing artistic interpretation of what that would look like. The artist specializes in drawing pop culture characters in the style of the famed children's author, and there's even a clever little rhyme attached to make it look like a short kids' book in the pieces below.

Brand New Trailer for ARROW's Midseason Premiere

I don't watch Arrow, but the midseason finale cliffhanger regarding the fate of Oliver Queen was such big news that even I heard about it. The CW has released a brand new trailer for the show, and I know there are a ton of Arrow fans out there dying for it to be January 21st so they can see how things get resolved. This trailer will help pass the time, as it gives a pretty good look at Laurel, Felicity, and the rest of the gang making a pretty big discovery, as well as Ray Palmer (Brandon Routh) tinkering with a new invention. Could that have something to do with the potential spin-off, I wonder? We'll have to wait and see.

Michael Keaton in Talks to Join McDonalds Movie THE FOUNDER

Back in December it was announced that a movie would be involving McDonalds called The Founder. It will revolve around the dark drama of the fast food chain's early beginning. Saving Mr. Banks director John Lee Hancock is going to direct the film, and Michael Keaton is now in talks to star in it. I freakin' love Michael Keaton!

"The Founder is a drama that tells the true story of how Ray Kroc, a salesman from Illinois, met Mac and Dick McDonald, who were running a burger operation in 1950s Southern California. Kroc was impressed by the brothers' speedy system of making the food and saw franchise potential. He maneuvered himself in a position to be able to pull the company from the brothers and create a billion-dollar empire."

According to THR, Keaton was offered the role of Ray Kroc earlier this week. I’m so happy to see the actor being offered more big movie roles! I knew Birdman was going to reinvigorate his career! The actor is also in talks to join Legendary Pictures’ Kong: Skull Island.

The script was written by Robert Siegel (Big Fan), and the tone has been described as being like The Social Network and There Will Be Blood. I’m intrigued by stories that revolve around business, and a film about the biggest fast food company in the world is sure to make for a great one.

When people try to recreate Han Solo’s Millennium Falcon, most of them try to go big and give it that epic feel. But not this one. This little papercraft Falcon was created by Caleb Kraft, and it’s about as big as a business card. The details are incredible, especially for something so damn small. The guy must have some crazy good steady surgeon hand skills with his Xacto knife to be able to pull this off.

Bandai’s Amazing Luke Skywalker Jedi Action Figure

Bandai is releasing a series of incredible Star Wars action figures, and so far we’ve seen a samurai Darth Vader and a samurai Stormtrooper. Now we have one of a Luke Skywalker Jedi action figure based on his look from Star Wars: Return of the Jedi. In fact, you can actually pose the figure the way that you see him on the movie poster. It’s pretty damn cool.

The 6 inch scale comes complete with a green lightsaber and black robes, and it has both a 'normal' Luke head as well an alternate head with Luke's hair flowing in the wind. This is Bandai's first attempt at a human sculpt for their Star Wars line, and it turned out to be pretty fantastic. I’m really impressed with what they are doing with their toys.

Sam Rockwell Offers New Details on POLTERGEIST Remake

sam-rockwell-offers-new-details-on-poltergeist-remake

I’m a huge fan of the original Poltergeist movie. It's one of my favorite horror movies of all time, and a reboot/sequel is coming from producer Sam Raimi and director Gil Kenan (Monster House). I'm a fan of both of these talents as well as the cast of the film, which is led by the amazing Sam Rockwell. In a recent interview with Collider, the actor offered up some new details on the film, and one of the more interesting things he said is that it will be more of an adventure film. When asked if he has seen any footage from the film he said,

“I’ve seen a little in looping. I hope it’s good. I really don’t know. I really wish I could tell you.  I’m praying that it’s – I mean, it’s gonna be hard to live up to the first one. The first one’s pretty damn good. This one’s gonna be in 3D though, I can tell you that.”

We already know that the story takes place in the same world as the previously released Poltergeist films. It takes place years after the Freelings' terrifying ordeal. The new family and and characters being introduced in the upcoming movie will even find some of the Freeling’s possessions that were intentionally left behind in an attic. Rockwell briefly talked about the story, saying,

“The 10-year-old boy is really the protagonist this time. JoBeth Williams was the protagonist for the most part in the first one and now the kid, it’s really through his point-of-view. So it’s more of a kids’ movie so I don’t know if it’s gonna be like rated-R scary.”

I think it’s fine that the movie won’t be rated R. After all, the first film was only rated PG, and it was still freakin’ scary. I'm not sure what to think about his comment on it being more a "kids movie" though. Hopefully it's not too much like a kids movie. The new movie will most likely end up with a PG-13 rating. Rockwell then explained that the film is more like an adventure.

“It’s not like Conjuring type of scary. You know, it’s a different kind of movie. It’s more of an adventure. It’s essentially a child abduction film when you come down to it. I mean, the original Poltergeist is too.”

I’m looking forward to seeing how this flick turns out. I’m hoping for the best. It’s just got such a talented team of people working on it, and I can’t help but believe that it will be a decently made movie. It probably won't be as good or scary as the original, but I'm sure it will deliver some fun entertainment. What do you think about what Rockwell had to say in this interview?

Robot Chicken animator Dillon Markey created the coolest animation tool ever out of an original Nintendo Power Glove. He modified it by replacing the circuit board in the glove with a bluetooth technology keyboard. A short documentary was released that shows him in action with the glove and explains how he made it. Now I’m trying to think of ways to modify a Power Glove to help me blog! I guess I could always just wear one while I type.

Tom Cruise to Reteam with EDGE OF TOMORROW Director for MENA

tom-cruise-to-reteam-with-edge-of-tomorrow-director-for-mena1

Edge of Tomorrow was a huge surprise last year that was met with all kinds of great reviews. It was one of my favorite movies of the year, and now Tom Cruise is looking to re-team with director Doug Liman to take on a new film project called Mena.

The movie is based on a true story that centers Barry Seal, “a TWA pilot recruited by the CIA to provide reconnaissance on the burgeoning communist threat in Central America. Seal finds himself in charge of one of the biggest covert CIA operations in the history of the U.S., one that spawned the birth of the Medellin cartel and eventually almost brought down the Reagan White House through the Iran Contra scandal.”

Cruise was looking to join Michael Bay’s 13 Hours, but passed on it to work with Liman on Mena. The two talents obviously work really well with each other, and I’m sure they’ll bring us yet another great movie. It may not be a sci-fi action film, but the story is definitely intriguing, and it sounds like it will be pretty intense.

CAPTAIN AMERICA Writers Discuss CIVIL WAR, BLACK PANTHER, and More

captain-america-writers-discuss-civil-war-black-panther-and-more

Yesterday, rumors hit the internet about a ton of spoiler filled details regarding Captain America: Civil WarAvengers: Infinity War, and more. If it's true, things are about to get even crazier in the Marvel cinematic universe. While speaking at TCA (via IGN), Captain America franchise screenwriters Christopher Markus and Stephen McFeely talked about Civil War, Black Panther, Agent Carter, and more.

Apparently the idea of introducing the Civil War storyline has been being discussed for awhile. McFeely explained,

“It’s been on and off the table for a while, let’s put it that way. And it’s a challenge to do it and make sure that all the characters that we’ve established, and everyone’s established in the MCU are serviced and sound correct, right? Because there’s a difference between the characters in Civil War, which was written in 2006, 2007. The MCU doesn’t exist [when it was written]. There isn’t a Robert Downey Jr. or Chris Evans who has helped create the character so we need to make sure that that template gets adjusted and what have you in order to make sure it services these characters and not just sort of rip off their parts and make them look like them."

I think the timing is perfect to bring this storyline to the big screen. McFreely went on to talk about his first initial reaction to reading the Civil War story and why comic book movies are so big right now.

"There’s a depth of myth [to the Civil War storyline]. People asked this earlier at our other panel, why now? Why are comic books so prevalent? Why are these movies doing so well? In some ways, we’ve become a genre that you can do well now given the world of computers and perhaps it’s also just a time in the sun. You went to the movies in the 50’s and 60’s you went to a western. So at this point, you’re going to a superhero movie. It’s taking over that same black hat, white hat myth-making surface. I don’t have a much smarter answer than that."

This film will mark the third time that these guys have written a Captain America script for Marvel, and the second time Anthony and Joe Russo will be back to direct. McFeely explained why the studio wants to keep working with them, saying,

"Every Captain America movie has a genre and Civil War is the musical! No, I think part of the reason for bringing back us and bringing back the [Russo] brothers is because Marvel is very pleased with Winter Soldier aesthetically. I think it’s a really adult movie. It’s very well made and that’s partly the texture of the movie. You can argue it’s the most realistic of the Marvel movies, whatever that is to you. I think it’s fair to say that a Russo brothers movie will stay in that vein."

The writers were also asked about how Peggy Carter might fit into Civil War, due to her relationship with Steve Rogers and Tony’s father Howard Stark, and this is what McFreely said:

“As we have not started shooting, and I’m on my fourth draft of many, that question [of who Peggy was to Tony Stark] has been in and out all over the place so who knows. So many things can shake out but we’ve had conversations and we pitched scenes. Some stay and some don’t. But we saw [Peggy] in Winter Soldier, so we know she’s around.”

At one point in the conversation, Chadwick Boseman’s Black Panther was brought up. As you know he'll be introduced Captain America: Civil War and then jump to his own solo film. This is all McFeely said about the character:

“I’ll keep that one close to the vest, but I’m very gratified that they went with Chadwick and that he said yes because he’s a good get.”

From the looks of that last Avengers: Age of Ultron trailer, it looks like something big goes down in Wakanda, which is where Black Panther is from. I'm sure that will spark his entrance into the MCU, and he might come into it pretty pissed off. We'll just have to wait and see.

Captain America: Civil War is set for release on May 6, 2016.

JURASSIC WORLD's Menacing D-Rex Hybrid Dino Revealed in Promo Art

Some new promo art has surfaced for director Colin Trevorrow's Jurassic World, and it gives us our best look yet at the deadly genetically engineered D-Rex dinosaur also known as Indominus Rex. This think looks crazy, and I can't wait to see what it's capable of!

I'm sure one day we'll see this dino featured in a trailer terrorizing people. If you want to watch the first full trailer for the film click here. In the meantime, this is our best look yet. Here's a description from the director that was previously released:

“… The gaps in her sequence were filled with DNA from other species, much like the genome in the first film was completed with frog DNA. This creation exists to fulfill a corporate mandate—they want something bigger, louder, with more teeth. And that’s what they get.

“I know the idea of a modified dinosaur put a lot of fans on red alert, and I understand it. But we aren't doing anything here that [Michael] Crichton didn't suggest in his novels. This animal is not a mutant freak. It doesn't have a snake’s head or octopus tentacles. It’s a dinosaur, created in the same way the others were, but now the genetics have gone to the next level. For me, it’s a natural evolution of the technology introduced in the first film. Maybe it sounds crazy, but most of my favorite movies sound crazy when you describe them in a single sentence.”

Sony Denies Rumor That Spider-Man Will Appear in AVENGERS: INFINITY WAR

$

0

Yesterday, a rumor spread claiming that Sony Pictures had made a deal with Marvel Studios for the character of Spider-Man to appear in Avengers: Infinity War. It came from solid sources from the folks at Latino Review, but now Sony has officially gone on the record to deny the claim. Sony reps told the people at CBR that it was an "old rumor" with "no validity whatsoever."

At this point, it basically comes down to which side you want to believe. If Spidey's appearance in Infinity War is supposed to be a surprise - or, more likely, if an agreement was made between the two companies, but the legal paperwork hasn't been signed yet - do you really think Sony is going to come out and confirm something like that at this point, years in advance? There's also the chance that the Sony spokesperson wasn't aware of Latino Review's new report; after all, it wasn't an "old rumor," as they state in their response, it was a brand new rumor that just sprang up yesterday.

There's still a lot of time in between now and Infinity War Part 1, so there's a good chance that this situation will be in flux for a while. Don't be surprised if you hear conflicting stories about this over the next couple of years. The bigger question is: does Marvel Studios actually need Spider-Man in the MCU at all? If the character isn't going to appear in the film adaptation of Civil War - a comic storyline in which he plays a huge role - does it make sense to just throw him in the mix right as things are getting crazy when the Infinity War story starts ramping up? It seems like if they were able to bring Spidey into the fold, Marvel may benefit from using him after Infinity War Part 2, when the table is completely reset by the events in those mega-movies and the future of the MCU is once again uncertain.

What do you think?

Director Paul Feig Says GHOSTBUSTERS Reboot Will Stay in New York

The trailer for Paul Feig's upcoming film Spy dropped earlier this week, but the movie that people really want to know about is the one he's working on after that: the long-awaited Ghostbusters reboot. In a new interview with Empire, Feig spoke about those casting rumors, nodding to the original, how it's important to keep the location the same, and more. Check out the highlights from the conversation below:

On possibly changing the setting:

"No, to me it’s such a New York movie and the biggest sin would be to pull it out of there. I just love New York and, selfishly, I just want to shoot in New York."

He and co-writer Katie Dippold want to include “fun nods to the old movie” without turning into a parody of the first film:

"We’re not recreating the old movie but we want to do just enough fun nods that the fans will go, ‘Oh, okay, they’re acknowledging that the other movie existed.’ I like to watch parodies, but I don’t want to do them because they’re too referential. Comedy that’s too referential has such a short shelf life, whereas comedy that’s based around characters will be relatable 2000 years from now because people won’t change that much.”

On the Melissa McCarthy casting discussions:

"It came out publically [sic] that we’re in talks with Melissa but there’s a lot to work out."

On dealing with the haters out there:

“There’s a lot of haters and I get it. The problem with the internet is that if 500 really angry men start bombarding me, I think, ‘Oh god, everybody hates this movie,’ but then you realise that it’s only 500 people. I don’t block anyone out or not read that stuff because I want to know what the most hardcore hater fan’s problem is.”

On bringing the franchise to a modern audience:

“A lot of people ask why I didn’t create my own thing but Ghostbusters never ran out of steam, it’s such a great idea. It’s such a fun franchise so why not bring it to a new generation? The old movie is never going to not exist. It’s not my plan to erase every copy! Hopefully they can all live together.”

Personally, I'd prefer it if Sony left this property alone altogether, but since that's obviously not going to happen, I think Ghostbusters is in good hands with Feig. What do you think?
