ANT-MAN Banner Reveals Yellowjacket

ant-man-banner-reveals-yellowjacket

A new promo banner has been released for Marvel's upcoming film Ant-Man, and it gives us our first official look at what the villain Yellowjacket will look like in full costume. This image confirms a photo of the character that leaked last month, which you can see here. The actor portraying Darren Crossa.k.a. Yellowjacket, is Corey Stoll, and you can read an interview in which he talks about the character here. The banner comes from British sleepwear company Aykroyds and Son (via CBM).

Armed with the astonishing ability to shrink in scale but increase in strength, master thief Scott Lang (Paul Rudd) must embrace his inner-hero and help his mentor, Dr. Hank Pym (Michael Douglas), protect the secret behind his spectacular Ant-Man suit from a new generation of towering threats. Against seemingly insurmountable obstacles, Pym and Lang must plan and pull off a heist that will save the world.

The film also stars Evangeline Lilly (The Hobbit: The Battle of the Five Armies), Judy Greer (Dawn of the Planet of the Apes), Bobby Cannavale (Chef, Blue Jasmine), Michael Pena (End of Watch, Fury), Martin Donovan (Inherent Vice, Insomnia), Wood Harris (Dredd, Remember the Titans), John Slattery (Mad Men, Iron Man 2), and Gregg Turkington (Gravity Falls).

The film is set to hit theaters on July 17th, 2015. Hopefully we get to see a trailer for this movie soon! I've heard rumors that it's coming early next year.

Original STAR WARS Action Figure Product Shots

Here's an amazing set of original product shots for the Kenner's classic Star Wars toy line from 1977 to 1985. The photos were all taken by Kim David McNeill Simmons and Roy Frankenfield over the course of a decade while the original trilogy were being released in theaters.

The collection comes from The Man Who Shot Luke Skywalker, where you can find even more great shots of these original Star Wars action figures. You can also find photos of a huge collection of figures here.

I wish I still had all of my original Star Wars toys. Even if I had I known as a kid that they would have been worth a lot of money when I grew up, though, I still would have played with them till they were broken or lost. I freakin' loved playing with those toys!

Empire tends to get the best cover photos for their magazine, and today we have a couple that they released featuring Tom Hardy from the upcoming film Mad Max: Fury Road. This is one of my most anticipated films of 2015, and I absolutely love how over-the-top and insane this movie looks! See for yourself by watching the trailer here. Mad Max: Fury Road is going to be one hell of a wild ride.

An apocalyptic story set in the furthest reaches of our planet, in a stark desert landscape where humanity is broken, and almost everyone is crazed fighting for the necessities of life. Within this world exist two rebels on the run who just might be able to restore order. There's Max, a man of action and a man of few words, who seeks peace of mind following the loss of his wife and child in the aftermath of the chaos. And Furiosa, a woman of action and a woman who believes her path to survival may be achieved if she can make it across the desert back to her childhood homeland.

The film hits theaters on May 15th, 2015.

The creative team over at How It Should Have Ended has released their latest episode featuring a great new animated ending for How to Train Your Dragon 2. I don't know if you've seen the movie yet or not, but it's freakin' fantastic. I think that it was the best animated film to come out this year. Even though the ending of the film was great, the new version that HISHE came up with is pretty spectacular. Enjoy!

Here’s What Michael Keaton’s BATMAN 3 Costume Looked Like

heres-what-michael-keatons-batman-3-costume-looked-like

I would have much rather seen a third Batman movie from Tim Burton than those Joel Schumacher Batman turds that followed Batman Returns. If Warner Bros. hadn’t scrapped Batman 3Michael Keaton would have reprised his role as the Dark Knight, and the images you see here, show us what his costume would have looked like. As you can see, it's very different than what we saw in the first two Batman films, and it’s fascinating.

These photos come from sculptor José Fernandez, who sculpted some different versions of Keaton wearing different Batsuit designs. My favorite design is the one at the top. It’s a little simpler in style than the other one that you’ll see photos of below. The other designs kind of reminds me of what we would saw people wearing on Krypton in Man of Steel. It's still cool though! These are much better designs than what we saw in Batman & Robin, and there are no nipples!

BATMAN V SUPERMAN Trailer Possibly Debuting in Front of MAD MAX

The release of Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice is still over a year away. Rumors persisted of a teaser trailer coming in October, a full 18 months ahead of its release. Rumors again popped up saying that the teaser trailer would be attached to the final Hobbit film. Both of those rumors obviously turned out to be false.

Supposedly the teaser trailer was "complete and ready to go" as far back as October according to Batman on Film, but, like I've already said, a teaser that far ahead of the movie's release just seems insane. Some sites even reported that the teaser leaked. But in all my searching I have not been able to find it, only un-detailed reports of what's in it, which makes me think the whole thing is false.

The latest report from Korean entertainment news website KDrama makes sense purely on a logical basis. Mad Max: Fury Road is opening in May of 2015, about 11 months ahead of Dawn of Justice. This would be the optimal/traditional time to release a teaser followed by a full trailer 4-5 months later. Fury Road is going to be a big movie for Warner Bros., and attaching the debut trailer for Dawn of Justice to it could give it a good boost at the box office.

After all the rumors and false hope/reports I'm going to err on the side of logic and expect a teaser to be attached to Fury Road and no sooner.

"Palpatine's Kitchen" Comic by Quad Force Five

When you see Emperor Sheev Palpatine, odds are you aren't thinking galaxy renowned chef. His rise to power was not just through cunning and ambition, but elaborate and tasty dinner parties. He's the only Sith to wear large loose-fitting robes, because of all the weight he's hiding. People don't know he's almost as fat as Jabba under that thing. Because black is slimming it's also the only color he wears. This comic by Quad Force Five shows part of a pilot episode for "Palpatine's Kitchen." I've gotta say, I'm super excited to see the next episode.

Hulk Villain Abomination Almost Appeared in An AVENGERS Film

In a recent interview with Tim Roth, who played Emil Blonsky, the soldier who becomes Abomination in Marvel's The Incredible Hulk, he reveals that the villain could have appeared in an Avengers movie from Marvel.

Edward Norton's Hulk movie is considered a part of the Marvel Cinematic Universe, but a lot has changed since it was made. Apparently at one point they were looking to give it more of a connection than little mentions here and there by possibly including Abomination in The Avengers 2. This is what Roth had to say about it in a interview with Crave Online:

"They were going to do it. They did do that. They were thinking, in The Avengers 2 or something. There was a movie we could do that at one point, but way back when. It just kind of got swept under the carpet I guess. That would be hilarious."

I'm sure Marvel was coming up with all sorts of fun and strange ideas when they were trying to figure out what to do with their cinematic universe early on. I'm not sure how Abomination would fit in the current MCU, but I'm sure there were a few ways that they considered bringing him back to the big screen. They do reference Blonsky being locked up in Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D., which was something I completely forgot about until it was pointed out to me.

The Hulk film set up some big plans for some characters in the film such as Blonsky, and then there was Tim Blake Nelson’s Dr. Samuel Sterns, who was being set up as future villain. Whatever they were looking to do seems to no longer play a huge role in the current MCU that fans are enjoying. This is a fun bit of trivia, though, that I thought might interest some of you.

John Oliver Breaks Down Why New Year’s Eve Is The Worst

If you’re part of a couple, New Year’s Eve is kinda just like a less romantic Valentine’s Day. If you’re single and you find someone to kiss before the countdown, you end the night feeling like James Bond. If you don't find someone to kiss, you feel like the odd man out in the most awkward and desperate game of musical chairs... sans the chairs. Last Week Tonight host John Oliver recorded this web exclusive video that will help you ring in the new year the right way, by avoiding New Year’s Eve parties altogether. There ya go, problem solved. Oliver humorously breaks down why the holiday is “the worst,” and then offers some “excellent and specific excuses” that should help you to avoid the whole evening.

New DAREDEVIL Series Details - Bullseye, The Kingpin, and MCU Connection

new-daredevil-series-details-bullseye-the-kingpin-and-mcu-connection

If you're a Marvel fan hankering for some new details on the Daredevil Netflix series, we've got some for you! The following information comes from an Entertainment Weekly interview with Marvel’s TV head Jeph Loeb, showrunner Steven S. DeKnight, and series star Charlie Cox. Some of the things discussed in the interview include Daredevil, Bullseye, The Kingpin, the show's connection with the Marvel Cinematic Universe, and more.

When talking about the setting of Daredevil, Loeb offered up the following info:

“Within the Marvel universe there are thousands of heroes of all shapes and sizes, but The Avengers are here to save the universe and Daredevil is here to save the neighborhood. It’s a very unique look at Hell’s Kitchen in New York, where Matt Murdoch grew up and continues to defend it from people who would harm the people that live there.”

As for the vibe of the show, its going to feel more like a crime thriller and not a superhero story. There won't be any superheroes flying through the sky in this show. DeKnight says,

“We really wanted to take our cue from [films like] The French Connection, Dog Day Afternoon, Taxi Driver, and make it very, very grounded, very gritty, very real. We always say we would rather lean toward The Wire than what’s considered a classic superhero television show.”

This is one of the main reasons why I think that I'm going to love this show. The fact that it's patterned after these amazing productions is very promising. It does take place in the MCU though! Loeb adds,

“It does take place in the Marvel cinematic universe. It’s all connected. But that doesn’t necessarily mean that we would look up in the sky and see [Iron Man]. It’s just a different part of New York that we have not yet seen in the Marvel movies.”

When talking about Daredevil in general, it's explained that he's not "the man without fear" in this first season. Cox had this to say:

“Someone who does not have fear — literally does not experience fear — is not that interesting. The way I like to think about it is that he is a man with fear, but he on a daily basis decides to confront that fear and to overcome it. So the title of ‘the man without fear’ is almost a title that the public in his world gives him just because of what he does. But inside himself, he’s very afraid at times. And he finds a way to confront those fears and punch through it.”

I really like that outlook on the character. It does make him more interesting. You'll also be happy to hear that the series is going to be more gritty and edgy than some of the other Marvel projects we've seen. DeKnight offers up the following comment on that:

“When I came onto this there was no way I wanted to make this hard-R or NC-17. I don’t think the material warrants that. It is a little grittier and edgier than Marvel has gone before, but we’re not looking to push it to extreme graphic violence, gratuitous nudity or anything like that. The story does not require that and I think would suffer if you pushed it that far.”

When it comes to The Kingpin, a.k.a. Wilson Fisk, this first season will give us the rise of a hero as well as a villain. DeKnight says,

“Fisk has very many different aspects so it’s not all, ‘I want to conquer the city and make a lot of money.’ In our story, we tell the story of how he met his wife Vanessa and how they fell in love — our antagonist actually has a love story. That’s the love story you’re following, the one you’re invested in, and seeing how that affects him and changes him. I think Vincent just brings such depth to it, his performance is just astounding.”

Then of course there's there's the classic Daredevil villain Bullseye. He won't be included in the first season, but he could eventually pop up somewhere down the road. In regards to the character, DeKnight says:

“I wouldn’t say there’s no plans to include the character in the series. It’s not not to say he wouldn’t be in the series at some point. But I think if you try to jam in too many characters, it just becomes a mess. And [Bullseye’s] story was told in the last iteration of Daredevil that anybody saw. My feeling was, ‘Why repeat it?’ And honestly, if you’re looking for a juicy, multi-faceted crime drama, Wilson Fisk was the obvious choice to play the antagonist. Bullseye is a little more cut and dry. Not to say you couldn’t make him fantastic over 13 hours, but Fisk really felt like the right yin to the yang for Matt, and for what we wanted to do this season.”

So far I'm completely on board with the direction Marvel is taking this series, and I'm looking forward to the day we get to see our first footage from the show. The full series will be released on Netflix in May of 2015. What are your thoughts on what was said about the show in this interview?

Watch Anthony Hopkins Try on Different Masks for SILENCE OF THE LAMBS

0
0

Even though we’d like to imagine the look of a character happened through some “magical moment” where everything just came together perfectly, almost every character requires a lot of trial and error before finding a look that works. As illustrated in a wonderful scene in 1992’s Chaplin, it was certainly the case with the look of Charlie Chaplin’s character the Tramp, the most recognizable figure in film for decades, and it was true for Anthony Hopkins' Academy award-winning turn as Hannibal Lecter in the 1991 film Silence of the Lambs. The Criterion Collection released some footage earlier this year of Hopkins trying on different bite masks, including the one filmmakers settled on after adding a grill piece to it (very bottom image). The other masks hid his menacing, unblinking eyes too much, which is likely the reason why they went with the last mask. Thanks to io9 for the find!

STAR WARS: THE FORCE AWAKENS — Oscar Isaac Says Theories Are "Far Off-Base"

0
0

So little about Star Wars: The Force Awakens has been officially released or confirmed. Actors are the most public face of the project and really do get the brunt of the pressure from the press. Some actors drop heavy hints like Vin Diesel, others lie or dissemble like Benedict Cumberbatch, some will correct rumors but give nothing new like Andy Serkis. Actor Oscar Isaac hasn't had the pressure that the aforementioned actors have had, so we don't know how he will deal with the questions.

In an interview with Yahoo, Isaac talks about the secrecy of the movie:

“You go to the place, and they have a room with cameras and you sit there and read the script. They’re incredibly protective, because nowadays, with however many hundreds of blogs and this and that, people are just ravenous for content. So because of that, there has to be such tight security around it. And it gets in the way of the process a bit, but it’s understandable.”

Isaac shares his experience as an X-Wing pilot and the effects used in the film:

"It was hard to believe that I was actually sitting in there and doing that. And it’s physical. You have to kind of get in touch with that child again that had a little X-Wing and would fly around his room making crazy sounds, you had to tap into that spirit again and that was a lot fun. There was a lot of practical effects. A lot of the stuff they actually made. There wasn’t a lot of green screen."

Finally, Isaac addresses the theories that get a lot of coverage on sites like GeekTyrant:

"I can’t speak for the cast and crew, I can just speak for myself, but for me I thought, Don’t you want to wait so you can get the real thing? But it creates excitement for it. I don’t think these little leaks necessarily ruined watching the trailer. And also, the [plot theories] that get that formulated based on these things — they couldn’t be more far off-base."

I would love if everything we've reported on the movie so far were false because it would mean J.J. Abrams is going to surprises us. I'm unsure how much Isaac reads of the film sites to know what is said is false, or maybe he's just taking the tack that it's better to attack rumors than address them.

But knowing the highly placed sources of many of the other sites, I can say that likely most of what we at GeekTyrant have reported on is true or was true at the time.

Several positive things are consistent and that is the fact the Star Wars is returning to its roots, the characters are much better defined than in the prequels, and the cast and crew think the story is rock solid.

Watch Record-Breaking Wheel of Fortune Contestant Solve Puzzle with One Letter

Wheel of Fortune contestant Matt DeSanto didn’t just set a record by solving a puzzle with only one letter on the board, he also earned the most cash during the main game in the history of the show by solving every other puzzle, finishing out with a total of $91,892. He didn’t earn the $1 million prize in the final bonus round, but the math teacher will have some major bragging rights for a long, long time... The million dollars would have been nice, too, just sayin'.

New AVENGERS: AGE OF ULTRON Team Photo and Promo Art

Marvel has released a new photo from Joss Whedon’s Avengers: Age of Ultron featuring the team gathered together in a scene that we got a look at in the trailer. It’s all fun and games until Ultron crashes the party and threatens to annihilate them and everyone on the planet. I love this image. It’s just so cool to see all of these characters together like this. The shit hits the fan after this scene, and alliances and friendships are going to be tested and broken. This looks like it will be a very dark chapter in Marvel Cinematic Universe. I've also included some promo art for the film featuring Ultron and other characters.

When Tony Stark tries to jumpstart a dormant peacekeeping program, things go awry and Earth’s Mightiest Heroes, including Iron Man, Captain America, Thor, The Incredible Hulk, Black Widow and Hawkeye, are put to the ultimate test as the fate of the planet hangs in the balance. As the villainous Ultron emerges, it is up to The Avengers to stop him from enacting his terrible plans, and soon uneasy alliances and unexpected action pave the way for an epic and unique global adventure.

The film stars Robert Downey Jr., Chris Evans, Mark Ruffalo, Chris Hemsworth, Scarlett Johansson, Jeremy Renner, Elizabeth Olsen, Aaron Taylor-Johnson, Paul Bettany, Stellan Skarsgard, Samuel L. Jackson, Cobie Smulders and Don Cheadle.

Avengers: Age of Ultron opens in theaters on May 1, 2015.

Artist Tim Doyle created this awesomely absurd piece of art that mashes together Guardians of the Galaxy, Jurassic Park, Terminator, and Star Wars: The Force Awakens. The illustration came along with the following caption from the artist:

“Is this a dumb thing I drew...or the DUMBEST THING I've EVER DRAWN.”

What makes this piece so epic is how ridiculously over-the-top it is . This is an image of a crossover film that we will never see in a million years. Thank you Tim for bringing this into our lives. The world is a better place now.

Did Sylvester Stallone Spoil the Ending of His ROCKY Spinoff Film?

0

did-sylvester-stallone-spoil-the-ending-for-his-rocky-spinoff-film

As most of you probably already know, Sylvester Stallone has been developing a Rocky spin-off film called Creed. Stallone will reprise his role as Rocky in the movie, but the story will revolve around Apollo Creed’s grandson, who will be played by Michael B. Jordan. This is the description of the story that we know so far:

"The story would follow Creed’s grandson, who has grown up reaping the spoils of all his grandfather’s winnings and is forbidden by his family to enter the world of boxing. Against his family’s wishes, he is drawn to boxing and seeks out Balboa to teach him how to fight and follow in his grandfather’s footsteps."

Stallone recently posted an image on Twitter that features what looks to be the final page of the script for the movie. You can check out that image below that can along with the following caption:

“Where the screenwriting is done.”

If you flip the image you can read what the script says. I just couldn’t resist. If you don’t want to know how the movie ends, then I suggest you not read it, and stop reading this article, because I’m going to give you a brief breakdown of what the script page entails.

SPOILERS ahead:

This script page reveals two major points in the movie. The first includes Adonis Creed (Jordan), the grandson of Apollo Creed winning his big match. That was to be expected, I figured he would win at the end. But, the movie doesn’t really get a happy ending as Rocky Balboa is diagnosed with cancer and begins undergoing chemotherapy treatments.

The last time I checked, the post is still up on Twitter, so there is a possibility that Stallone could have just put that script page there to mess with fans. But maybe… just maybe, it was an oversight, and he just hasn’t noticed what he has actually done.

Even if this is the actual ending, I’m still excited about watching the movie. I love Rocky! Creed is being directed by Ryan Cooper, who worked with Jordan on the powerful film Fruitvale Station.

Special Effects Reel for David Fincher’s GONE GIRL

For those of you who are familiar with director David Fincher’s work, the guy uses a ton of special effects in his films, most of which you wouldn't even know about if you didn’t watch behind-the-scenes effects reels like this one. They are things that you’d never think was a special effect, and they are seamlessly crafted. Fischer seems like the kind of director who is very meticulous and detailed with his shots, so to get them exactly the way he wants, he’ll incorporate these kinds of effects, even though he may not necessarily need them. Thanks to Artemple Hollywood for the video, I hope you enjoy it. To watch the video, just click on the "Watch on Vimeo" link below.

how-to-edit-marvels-cinematic-universe-in-chronological-order

The Comic Archive released a very cool video that explains how we can cut together everything in the first phase of the Marvel Cinematic Universe in chronological order. They call the video “How To Make A Marvel Movie Omnibus - Phase 1,” and here’s the note that came along with it:

“Over the fall I decided to put together a supercut of all the Marvel movies, putting all the scenes in correct story order. I like to call it the Marvel Movie Omnibus. Here you'll find instructions on how to make your own cut for Phase 1 (everything up through the Avengers).”

So basically, if you wanted to watch the entire Phase 1 of the MCU as one movie, you totally could. You just have to watch the video below to learn how to edit it together yourself. I really hope there are some fans out there that actually take on this challenge. You'll find some additional information below the video.

What you'll need is some editing software (I used FCP X) and movie files for:
