Funny Blooper Reel for THE EXPENDABLES 3

the_expendables__a_felaldozhatok_3_4.jpg

The Expendables 3 completely bombed at the box office. I enjoyed the film, but it definitely wasn’t as good as the first two. I do have to say that Mel Gibson gave one hell of a great performance, though. Thanks to Collider, we have a funny blooper reel for the film that features several members of the cast screwing up and messing around.

Some of the cast members that pop up in the video are Sylvester Stallone, Jason Statham, Mel Gibson, Harrison Ford, Kelsey Grammar, Antonio Banderas, Wesley Snipes, Kellen Lutz, and Ronda Rousey.

One of the best moments is watching Ford mess up his lines and listening to his voice crack. This is all part of the Blu-ray/DVD special features that is set to be released on November 25th.

The Hunger Games: Mockingjay - Part 1 opens this weekend and marketing for this film is in full assault mode. We've skipped over a bunch of TV spots because they had nothing new. This clip that features an airstrike and a reckless Katniss (Jennifer Lawrence) is new.

Rare ALIENS Set Photos Show Actor James Remar as the Original Corporal Hicks

James Cameron's 1986 film Aliens is an awesomely badass movie and one of my favorite sci-fi action films of all time. The movie was released with Michael Biehn in the role of Marine squad Leader Corporal Dwayne Hicks. But before Biehn came along, James Remar had originally been cast in the role. He even filmed a good chunk of the film before he was fired. Today we have a set of rare photos from the movie that feature Remar as Hicks.

It's really weird seeing him in the role because after seeing Biehn kick ass as the character it's hard to imagine anyone else play him. Remar was most recently in the Daniel Radcliffe film Horns, but he might be best known for his part as Harry Morgan in Dexter

When Remar was let go from Aliens, it was said that it was because of "creative differences," but the actor told the Sidebar podcast a few years ago that the real reason was his drug addiction.

I had a terrible drug problem, but I got through it. I had a great career and personal life, and messed it up with a terrible drug habit… I was initially cast as Corporal Hicks, and I was fired after a couple weeks of filming because I got busted for possession of drugs, and Michael Biehn replaced me.

Check out a collage of additional images below.

Robin's Parents Confirmed for GOTHAM and No Harley Quinn Plans... Yet

robins-parents-confirmed-for-gotham-and-no-harley-quinn-plans-yet

It was recently reported that the Graysons might make an appearance in Fox's Gotham. There have been a lot of villain introductions so far, so it would be nice to see the rise of some other heroes. The news came from series star Ben McKenzie, who teased the inclusion of Dick Grayson's parents. Dick is the character who become the sidekick Robin. The actor said,

“The Graysons may appear this season. I’m not 100 percent sure yet, but I think so.”

That news has now been confirmed by showrunner Bruno Heller, who says that it will happen this season. At this point, though, Robin will not be introduced as he's not even born yet when we meet his parents. Here's what Heller told EW:

“We’re going to do a prenatal origin story for Robin down the line. There are no MRIs involved. There’s an episode coming up where we learn how Robin’s parents got together.”

That should be fun to see. Another character who has been rumored to show up in the series is the Joker's crazy sidekick, Harey Quinn, but according to Heller that's not happening anytime soon.

“One of the things about the size and scope and ambitious of this production is that—it’s not that there’s lots of chefs in the kitchen, but there’s a lot of people with opinions and views and inside knowledge. That aspect of the show—which characters to use and when — is a source of constant discussion. And that may well have been an issue that came up and was dropped. We haven’t got Harley Quinn in it. Riddler’s girlfriend is coming up. And Harley Quinn is definitely planned for later on, but so far no.

The awesome news to take from this is that they do plan on introducing her somewhere down the line. Probably not this season, though. It's been previously been teased that the Joker, Mr. Freeze, and Scarecrow will make an appearance. Poison Ivy will also make her return. Heller went on to talk about the show.

“You can’t just keep pumping these characters into the show in a comic book sort of way, because you get the Super Friends effect—which isn’t a bad effect, but then you have spaceships and need to go underwater and get wacky villains and the rest of it. You have to work as a character piece first. First it has to be real.
“We front-loaded [the show with iconic characters], which we had to do, both for story purposes and marketing purposes,” Heller says. “We had to let people know it’s not just a hum-drum police procedural, it’s about these larger than life characters. If you do that you can’t just say, ‘Here’s one larger-than-life character, now wait for next season.’ Once we introduced those initial characters—Penguin, Riddler, Ivy, Selina—then we’ve slowed down with those aspects and we’re bringing in those iconic D.C characters in a much more measured way, which was always the intention. You have to have that amount of spice in the show to make it pop and different. Once the wheels are turning, it’s much easier to bring those characters in in subtle, organic ways. That’s the plan, anyway.”

I love what they've been doing so far. This is one of my favorite shows on TV right now, and I hope they keep it going strong!

STAR WARS: DARTH VADER Comic Covers by Adi Granov

If you don't know who Adi Granov is, then you need to read the intro I wrote about him for an artist spotlight we did for him a year ago:

Adi Granov's design of Iron Man is what really put him at the top of my list for favorite comic book artist. Granov's style is dimensional, cinematic, and pure awesome. It's easy to see why Marvel chose him to do lots of early concept work for Iron Man, Iron Man 2, and The Avengers movies.

Marvel has been releasing Star Wars comic books after Disney's purchase of Lucas Film. Marvel is using its roster of talented artists to create amazing covers for it's Star Wars comics. Adi Granov has created variant covers for Star Wars: Darth Vader #1 and #2.

That Wasn't Beta Ray Bill In GUARDIANS OF THE GALAXY

There were a lot of Guardians of the Galaxy fans, including myself, who thought they saw Beta Ray Bill in The Collector's showroom in the film. Unfortunately, director James Gunn came along to burst our geek bubble and confirmed that it's not Beta Ray Bill. In response to a Twitter comment saying, "That is totally Beta Ray Bill," with the screenshot below, Gunn said:

"THAT’S who you guys’re talking about? That is totally NOT Beta Ray Bill."
that-wasnt-beta-ray-bill-in-guardians-of-the-galaxy

So the matter is settled. Of course, Gunn doesn't say who that character is, but there's a good chance it's not really pertinent to the Marvel Cinematic Universe. It would be cool to see Beta Ray Billy introduced into the movies at some point, though.

12 Best Comedic X-FILES Episodes

12-best-comedic-x-files-episodes

I recently finished watching the entire X-Files series again, and this show seriously never gets old. I always enjoy the time I spend with Mulder and Scully. I know there is a whole generation of younger people out in the world that haven’t experienced The X-Files yet. If you are one of them, the whole series is on Netflix, and I strongly suggest that you take the time to watch it. It’s better than many of the TV shows that are currently airing.

As I was rewatching the series, I kept a list of my favorite episodes. There were a lot of them, but for this list I managed to whittle it down to only twelve by focusing on what I thought were the funniest episodes. So this is my Top 12 list of favorite episodes of The X-Files that had some moments that made me laugh.

"Arcadia" - Season 6, Episode 15

“Wow. Admit it, all you want to do is play house. Woman! Get back in here and make me a sandwich!”

Scully and Mulder go undercover as a husband and wife in a gated, high-class planned community, where the penalty for breaking community rules and tacky lawn ornaments is death. There is a subset of the X-Files community called “Shippers,” who wanted to see Mulder and Scully in a relationship. This episode gave it to them in the most glorious way.

The aliases that Mulder and Scully use in the episode are Rob and Laura Petrie. These are the names of the characters played by Dick Van Dyke and Mary Tyler Moore on The Dick Van Dyke Show.

X-files Trailer: 6x13 ARCADIA by Chanterelle25

"Clyde Bruckman's Final Repose" - Season 3, Episode 4

“You know, there are worse ways to go, but I can’t think of a more undignified way than autoerotic asphyxiation.”

Several local psychics in St. Paul, MN are found dead with no evidence left behind. To help solve the murders the police department hires a famous psychic to lead their case, and Mulder thinks he’s a joke. He comes across another psychic who helps him with the case, and I loved the conversations they had.

Peter Boyle played Clyde Bruckman in the episode, and the character has the same name as a famous Hollywood writer and director from the 1920's to 1940's who eventually fell on hard times and committed suicide in 1955.

"Small Potatoes" - Season 4, Episode 20

“Should we be picking out china patterns or what?”

The story focuses on five unrelated women in a small town who all give birth to babies with tails. The prime suspect is a man who can shape shift into whomever he wants. I love that one of the women thinks she had sex with Luke Skywalker, and that she's carrying his baby.

This episode was written by Breaking Bad’s Vince Gilligan, who said that he originally wanted wings to be the deformity of the babies instead of tails. Tails were easier to create digitally, though.

"Hollywood A.D." - Season 7, Episode 19

“Agent Scully, if I am carrying Marilyn Monroe's purse, do you assume that I slept with JFK?”

At the insistence of FBI Assistant Director Walter Skinner, an old college friend of his named Wayne Federman is allowed to follow Mulder and Scully on a case involving a pipe bombing in a church. Federman is a writer and producer from Hollywood who's gathering material for an FBI-based movie he’s working on and Mulder and Scully turn out to be the reluctant stars of this movie.

At one point, Scully tells Mulder that she thinks Téa Leoni (who played herself in the episode) has a crush on him, and Mulder wonders how she could. In real life, Leoni was David Duchovny's wife at the time — they divorced earlier this year.

"Humbug" - Season 2, Episode 20

“I could be mistaken. Maybe it was another bald-headed, jigsaw-puzzle-tattooed, naked guy I saw.”

There’s a strange death of a circus sideshow attraction in Gibsonton, Florida that takes Mulder and Scully on a bizarre mystery adventure into the world of circus freaks.

Scully was supposed to eat a grasshopper in front of Mulder in a scene. There was supposed to be a cut so that the bug could be replaced with a candy looking bug, but before they could cut, Gillian Anderson put the real bug in her mouth and ate it. The scene made it into the final cut.

"X-Cops" - Season 7, Episode 12

“Unfortunately though, Deputy, you've been bitten. The skin is broken. Werewolf law pretty much universally holds, that someone who's been bitten by such a creature is gonna become such a creature himself, so…”

This episode was shot in the style of Cops. It was set in Los Angeles and followed the investigation of a local neighborhood werewolf.

This episode opened in the same style as the Cops series, and it included images of Mulder and Scully from the episode among the standard police scenes.

"Dreamland" - Season 6, Episode 4

“Don't you ever want to stop? Get out of the damn car and live something approaching a normal life?”

An anonymous tip finally brings Mulder and Scully to Area 51. But when the agents witness the flight of a mysterious craft, a weird event occurs that results in Mulder switching bodies with a “man in black” type character named Morris Fletcher. Mulder takes advantage of the the opportunity to infiltrate Area 51, while Fletcher uses the opportunity to escape his life.

They tried to get Gary Shandling, who was good friends with Duchovny, to play the part of Fletcher in the episode, but it didn’t work out due to scheduling conflicts. Shandling ended up playing Mulder in an already mentioned episode ("Hollywood A.D.") the next season.

X-files Trailer: 6x04 DREAMLAND by Chanterelle25

"Jose Chung's From Outer Space" - Season 3, Episode 20

“That's a bleepin' dead alien body if I ever saw one.”

The episode revolves around author Jose Chung, who is writing a book about the claimed alien abduction of a young couple that was subsequently investigated by agents Mulder and Scully. What makes this episode so great was that each witness provides a different version of the same facts. I also enjoyed all the bleepin’ bleeps and Mulder’s scream.

Johnny Cash was briefly considered for the role of the Man in Black that ultimately was portrayed by Alex Trebek.

"The Unnatural" - Season 6, Episode 19

“I've seen the life on this planet Scully, and that is exactly why I am looking elsewhere.”

The episode starts out with a KKK member getting beaned in the head with a baseball and knocked off his horse. When the mask is removed there’s an alien underneath it. I couldn’t help but laugh at that. In the episode Mulder uncovers a 1940s story involving a Negro baseball player who played for a minor league team in Roswell. He finds a photo that has an Alien Bounty Hunter, and the baseball player in question is an alien.

This episode was Duchovny's writing and directorial debut. It’s also the only time in the series that the alien bounty hunter shows his true alien face.

"Je Souhaite" - Season 7, Episode 21

“I can't believe you don't want butter on your popcorn. Uggh. It's un-American.”

Mulder comes into possession of a genie who grants him three wishes. Unfortunately, the wishes come with disastrous consequences. At one point, Mulder wishes for peace on earth and the genie wipes out the entire population of Earth. I guess that’s one way to do it.

"Je souhaite" means "I wish" in French.

"Bad Blood" - Season 5, Episode 12

“I did not overreact, Ronnie Strickland was a vampire!”

The episode starts off with Mulder driving a stake through the heart of a would be teenage vampire. This is one of my favorite opening sequences in any X-Files episode. While the FBI agents are waiting to meet with Skinner, Mulder and Scully attempt to get their stories "straight" by relating to each other their differing versions of what happened during their investigation. I loved the different points of views presented.

Anderson has said that this is her favorite X-Files episode.

"Syzygy" - Season 3, Episode 13

“I am not going to be humiliated by you, in front of you, or by having to bring a teenage girl on her birthday of all days to identify the bones of her dead dog, Mr. Tippy. I see no reason to pursue this case any further, and not only that, I find your conduct and your comportment in this case not just alarming, but highly objectionable.”

In this episode, Scully and Mulder investigate a series deaths that involve teenage boys from the same high school. There are rumors of a satanic cult being responsible, and everyone in town seems to be acting out of character, including Scully and Mulder who have some wonderfully fun moments mocking each other.

A lot of the things that Scully and Mulder bickered over during the episode — how Mulder is constantly ”ditching" Scully, how Mulder always drives, how Scully's feet are small, etc. — was taken from the fans' online complaints about the series up until that point. Ryan Reynolds also had a part in this episode.

LEGO BATMAN Movie Will Pay Tribute to “Every Era of Batman Filmmaking”

Last month, Warner Bros. announced that they'll be developing a LEGO Batman spinoff film, which is being directed by Chris McKay, who was the animation supervisor on The LEGO Movie. There weren't really any details revealed for the film, but Will Arnett is set to reprise his role as the voice of the Dark Knight. Phil Lord and Chris Miller are also attached to produce the feature.

Miller recently talked to Empire Magazine, and he offered up a really cool piece of information that Batman fans are sure to love. He says,

"Rest assured that every era of Batman filmmaking will be acknowledged. There have been so many interpretations of Batman and there is so much to play with there. There are 40 versions of his origin story alone."

That's so awesome that they are looking to pay tribute to every era of Batman. There's no doubt that they are going to have a ton of fun playing around with all of their options. I'm sure that this will also include Ben Affleck's version of the Caped Crusader.

The first thought that popped into my head when I saw this was the fact that there's a possibility the studio could get Adam West, Michael Keaton, Val Kilmer, George Clooney, Christian Bale, and Affleck to voice their Batman characters! I have no idea if that's the plan, but it sure as hell should be.

Seth Grahame-Smith (Dark Shadows) is currently writing the spinoff film, which is set for release in 2017. There are so many different directions that they could take the story for this movie, and I'm really excited about seeing what the creative team comes up with.

Fun Video of Vin Diesel Saying "I Am Groot" in 15 Languages

Marvel has released a very  entertaining video supercut of Vin Diesel saying, "I Am Groot," in 15 different languages. I like the way they edited this together by using certain parts of the film when Groot delivers his iconic line. This is really a fun video to watch. I hope you like it.

Surprisingly Good Trailer for AGE OF ADALINE — See Anthony Ingruber As a Young Harrison Ford

The Age of Adaline tells the story of a woman born in 1908 who stops aging in her twenties. It has a really good, must watch trailer. The movie has a great cast with Harrison Ford, Ellen Burstyn, and Kathy Baker.

The coolest thing in the trailer is Anthony Ingruber, who plays a younger version of Ford's character. He looks a lot like Ford. Lst year, we even posted several videos of Ingruber doing spot on impressions of Ford. If a young Han Solo movie gets made, Ingruber needs to be at the top of that casting list.

The movies stars Blake Lively, yes, Blake Lively from Green Lantern, and I can't believe I'm excited to watch the movie. Watch the trailer and let me know if I'm insane for being excited for it.

The Age of Adaline opens in theaters April 25th, 2015 (USA). Source: Yahoo

Tooned Up BUFFY THE VAMPIRE SLAYER Character Art and Maquette's

I've come across an extremely cool set of tooned up art and Maquette's for several characters from the hit 1990s TV series Buffy the Vampire Slayer. The designs come from Electric Tiki and they are being distributed by Sideshow Collectibles. As a huge fan of this show I'd love to own this collection. So far the characters include are Buffy, Spike, Faith, Willow, Dark Willow, Caleb, and Gloria. I'll start out by showing you the Maquette's, then the art designs, and finally some sketches.

PROMETHEUS 2 Will Introduce Us to a New Alien

The last we heard about Ridley Scott's Prometheus 2 was that FOX hired Green Lantern screenwriter Michael Green to rewrite the script. Not much is known about the story, but it was reported that it would be "much more alien-y and in line with the terrifying tone of past films in the franchise. Additionally, the sequel is expected to feature multiple ‘David’ androids, which means there will be more than one Michael Fassbender on screen at the same time."

We have a little bit more information to share with you today that comes directly from the director. He recently did an interview with The Australian in which he said that the script is written and that it's "really good" and "fresh." He also says it's “getting away from gods and dragons and shit." Adding, "If I see one more dragon I’m going to shoot myself. Stop the dragons.”

Scott goes on to describe his original alien creature as “the definitive dragon and he’s a motherf . . ker. The alien’s real which is why it’s probably one of the scariest monsters in film history.” In regards to Prometheus 2 he explains, "what I’m trying to do is reintroduce a fresher form of alien in the third act.”

He says that the Prometheus baby alien was, “awfully close to the alien” that Sigourney Weaver had to deal with. His next alien creature promises to be very different though. Hopefully this sequel has much smarter scientists than the first one did. If they decide to include more scientists.

NEVERENDING STORY Fan Remake Concept Art

0
0

The Neverending Story will always be a nostalgic movie for me. It was one of the earliest fantasy films that I can remember watching. Unlike Krull or Labyrinth, it had a boy as the main character and I was able to imagine myself in this crazy place.

I rewatched The Neverending Story two years ago, and it's aged badly. So much so that it kind of ruined my joy and memory of it. I don't think I will ever watch it again. It's not a movie I'm going to show my kids because there are so many better fantasy films now (LotR for example).

Something I could get excited about is a remake. Yes, that much hated process of taking an old movie and attempting to make it better or different than the original. Artist Nicolas Francoeur has imagined his own remake of this '80s classic. He's got some great ideas and they could be a good leaping off point for even more art.

Two directors whom I think would be great for a Neverending Story remake would be Peter Jackson or Guillermo del Toro. Could you imagine the scope and the creatures in a film done by either of those directors? It would be amazing.

Tense Clip from EXODUS: GODS AND KINGS - "Miriam"

tense-clip-from-exodus-gods-and-kings1

20th Century Fox has released a new clip from Ridley Scott's biblical epic Exodus: Gods and Kings. It features a very tense confrontational scene in which Joel Edgerton's Ramses pushes Christians Bale's Moses to a point of admitting a secret. This movie looks epic on every level, and it's one that I can't wait to watch on the big screen.

The story of one man’s daring courage to take on the might of an empire. sing state of the art visual effects and 3D immersion, Scott brings new life to the story of the defiant leader Moses (Bale) as he rises up against the Egyptian Pharaoh Ramses (Edgerton), setting 600,000 slaves on a monumental journey of escape from Egypt and its terrifying cycle of deadly plagues.

Exodus: Gods and Kings opens in theaters on December 12th.

How GUARDIANS OF THE GALAXY Should Have Ended

The gang at How It Should Have Ended (HISHE) have released a hilarious new episode that includes a few animated alternate scenes for James Gunn's Guardians of the Galaxy. The first part of the video plays with Drax's inability to grasp rudimentary metaphors, and they take it to the gross-out level. It's followed by several other fun segments with many of the main characters in the film. Of course, the video ends with the Guardians of the Galaxy sitting at the Superhero Cafe with Batman and Superman. There's a fun bit I love at the end where Groot and Batman have a little showdown.

Live-Action ATTACK ON TITAN Movie - Kick-ass Character Posters!

13 awesome character posters have been released for director Shinji Higuchi's live-action Attack of Titan film. Each one gives us a look at a different character in the film. I've got to say, I love what I'm seeing here. It's definitely exciting to get our first glimpse at what the style and tone of the film will be.

One of the last things we heard about the Japanese feature is that it would be split into two films. Attack on Titan creator, Hajime Isayama, helped in the creation of the movie and even came up with seven additional characters. Of course, the movie will stay true to the spirit of the source material.

The cast for the film includes Haruma Miura as Eren, Kiko Mizuhara as Mikasa, Kanata Hongo as Armin, Satomi Ishihara as Hanji, Nanami Sakuraba as Sasha, Takahiro Miura as Jean, Hiroki Hasegawa as Shikishima, Ayame Misaki as Hiana, Pierre Taki as Souda, Jun Kunimura as Kubal, Shu Watanabe as Fukushi, Satoru Matsuo as Sannagi, and Rina Takeda as Lil.

The first live-action Attack on Titan film will premiere next summer. We will replace these images with higher resolution versions when they become available.

Detailed Millennium Falcon Made Out of Cardboard

Star Wars fan Thomas Richner needed to clean up some boxes in his basement. What could have been a simple task turned into a 140 hour sidetrack. The result is a meticulously crafted Millennium Falcon. I sorted thought his detailed project photos and selected 15 of the best images.

Seeing this makes me nostalgic for building Star Wars models. Seeing as I don't have any extra time, I think I'll just buy the 2.5 foot long Millennium Falcon we posted yesterday.

Trailer for STAR WARS: THE FORCE AWAKENS Attached to THE HOBBIT?

0
0

Star Wars fans have been wondering when they will get to see the first trailer for J.J. Abrams' Star Wars: The Force Awakens. We've heard that it will be coming in the next four to five weeks. Now it looks like we know exactly when we'll get to see it.

According to Star Wars 7 News, the trailer will be attached to The Hobbit: The Battle of the Five Armies. The site says they got the intel from a theater owner who was told The Force Awakens trailer would come out with The Hobbit. They also have a second source from a fan who talked to Thomas Gormley, the film’s first assistant director and frequent J.J. Abrams collaborator. That fan tweeted out the following information:

"Had a talk from Thomas Gormley today, when asked about the teaser trailer for Star Wars VII he said, 'You might wanna go see The Hobbit' :)"

Apparently, a few minutes after the tweet was embedded on the Star Wars 7 News site,  not only was the tweet deleted, but so was the Twitter account from where the tweet originated. In case you're wondering if the the twitter account was a plant, the name was @RealReeceDeal, and the account has been active since 2012, so that doesn't seem likely.

There's no official confirmation of this, but it would make sense for the trailer to be attached to The Hobbit: The Battle of the Five Armies. That's one of the last huge movies of the year, and it targets the Star Wars fan base. I guess we'll just have to wait and see.

Below is a screenshot of the tweet:

"You F**ked With the Wrong" Movie Video Supercut

you-fked-with-the-wrong-movie-video-supercut

This is probably one of the most entertaining supercuts that I’ve seen in a long time. It features a montage of movie scenes that include the classic line, “You f**ked with the wrong…” As you might expect, the F-bomb is dropped over and over again at the beginning of the video, so it’s probably not safe for you to watch at work. It also includes the line with the word “messed” in the place of “f**ked” in some instances. The video comes from Coponfilms.

Haunting Trailer for THE WOMAN IN BLACK 2: ANGEL OF DEATH

Relativity Media has released another trailer for Hammer’s sinister-looking haunted house thriller The Woman in Black 2: Angel of Death. I’ve really enjoyed what I’ve seen from this movie so far, and it’s a horror movie that I’m really excited about seeing. Here’s the synopsis:

During the London bombings of World War II, school teachers Eve Parkins (Phoebe Fox) and Jean Hogg (Helen McCrory) lead a group of children in evacuation to Crythin Gifford, a remote village outside of the city. When the group takes up residence at the Eel Marsh House, 40 years after Arthur Kipps (Daniel Radcliffe) investigated the first haunting, Eve soon realizes they are not alone. The longer they stay in the house, the more the awful past of the residence unravels itself and the evil spirit that lurks around them threatens the well-being of the children. With the help of a pilot (Jeremy Irvine), Eve does all that she can to protect the children and discover the truth behind the Woman in Black.

The movie will be released on January 2nd, 2015.
