EW

Marvel and ABC have released a photo giving fans their first look at Adrianne Palicki as Bobbi Morse a.k.a. Mockingbird from Marvel's Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D., and she looks great in the role.

The character will be introduced into the universe as the head of Hydra Security on October 21st in the Season 2 episode titled "A Hen in the Wolfhouse."

Mockingbird was first created by Gerry Conway and Barry Smith and introduced in the comic book “Astonishing Tales” #6 in 1971. She didn't have any super powers until she was injected with an experimental serum that gave her enhanced strength and speed. She's also a member of S.H.I.E.L.D. and The Avengers in the comics.

Marchand on the piece:

This print is probably my most ambitious work so far. A little special something for the launch of my new online store: Cobra Factory. The main challenges I encountered on this project were mainly in the aesthetics. My goal was to create a visually appealing giant bank note in the settings of the Star Wars universe. The print represents an hypothetical currency of the Dark Sided Galactic Empire.
The inspiration for this piece comes mainly from my grandfather who was an avid philatelist and I wanted to transpose to the print a part of my cherished childhood memories of our time spent together. I especially loved the old stamps who were much more difficult to reproduce given the level of details they were portraying. Like the stamp, paper money have the same kind of design which interest me particularly today in my work. Money is just a drawing on a piece of paper but fundamentally, it has such a power of the masses that most people would do everything to simply hold a slight amount more.

There are only 45 of these hand pulled prints and they going for $99 Canadian.

Having designed certificates and "dollars" in the past myself, I can say that they are pretty challenging to make. It's an esthetic everyone is familiar with but a style pretty much no one does. Found via: Tie Fighters

Ridley Scott Gives Updates on BLADE RUNNER and PROMETHEUS Sequels

ridley-scott-gives-update-on-blade-runner-and-prometheus-sequels

Director Ridley Scott is currently preparing to direct his two big sci-fi fi sequels, Blade Runner 2 and Prometheus 2. While speaking to Yahoo about his upcoming movie, Exodus: Gods and Kings, he also offered an update on the other two projects.

The last we heard on Blade Runner 2 was that the director said the script was "damn good," and that he would shoot the film when he's done with The Martian. Here's what he had to say in his most recent interview:

"It’s on the charts, can’t say when that would be yet, because of [Ford’s] thing with ‘Star Wars’. It’s a sequel – it’s what happens next. It’s quite surprisingly clever."

I like that he's excited about doing this sequel, and I really hope that it turns out as good as he is making it out to be. He went on to give a more detailed update on Prometheus 2 saying:

“Right now, as we speak, it’s being written. I’ve had 15 drafts evolving. I definitely want to do that again because I really enjoyed doing Prometheus."

Well, that's interesting. He's had 15 drafts of the scripts so far… I'm not sure if that's a good or bad thing. He went on to address the mixed reviews of Prometheus and the lack of recognizable monsters, saying:

“The beast is done. Cooked. I got lucky meeting Giger all those years ago. It’s very hard to repeat that. I just happen to be the one who forced it through because they said it’s obscene. They didn’t want to do it and I said, ‘I want to do it, it’s fantastic’. But after four (he has conveniently forgotten the ‘AvP’ movies), I think it wears out a little bit. There’s only so much snarling you can do. I think you’ve got to come back with something more interesting. And I think we’ve found the next step. I thought the Engineers were quite a good start.”

As for what audiences can expect to see in the sequel, he said:

"You’ll probably have to go with [Noomi Rapace’s Elizabeth Shaw] and [Michael Fassbender’s android David] without his head. Find out how he gets his head back on!"

I enjoyed Prometheus, but there were a ridiculous amount of plot holes and the characters weren't the smartest bunch of people. I really hope that we see a vast improvement in the sequel.

THE WALKING DEAD Human Tasting Meat Hamburger is Real… Gross!

I don't know if we have any cannibals who read the site or not, but to celebrate the upcoming season of The Walking Dead, the UK network Fox has teamed up with two London chefs to create a burger that tastes like human flesh. It's not actually made out of human flesh, but it still sounds disgusting.

The two chefs creating this hilarious monstrosity are Miss Cakehead and James Tomlinson from Mess London. So how do you create a human meat burger without actually tasting human meat? They did their research and looked at actual statements from infamous cannibals such as Issei Sagawa and William Seabrook. That gave them the info they needed to emulate the taste and texture.

Just in case you're really interested, I included the infographic above that lets you know what eating people is meant to taste like. The final burger includes a mix of pork, veal, chicken livers and bone marrow, and it will be made available to East London residents for free on September 30th at a pop-up restaurant called the Terminus Tavern that will appear at a secret location.

If you're crazy enough to want to try it, you'll have to check the #TerminusTavern hashtag on Twitter to find out where the Tavern will be set up.

We have an extremely funny clip here from a film called The Trip to Italy in which Steve Coogan and Rob Brydon hilariously impersonate Batman, Alfred and Bane from Christopher Nolan's The Dark Knight Rises. If you are looking for a good laugh then I think this scene from the film will give it to you. If you haven't heard of the movie, I included the trailer as well. You can watch our video review of the film here. It's a sequel to a movie called The Trip. I haven't seen the first film yet, but I've heard it's great, and after watching this I think I might have to finally buckle down and check it out.

THE LEGO MOVIE Directors Looking to Direct ROSIE PROJECT

Phil Lord and Chris Miller, the directors of The LEGO Movie and 21 and 22 Jump Street, are looking at taking on a new film called The Rosie Project for Sony Pictures. The script for the film will be written by Scott Neustadter and Michael H. Weber, who previously worked on the wonderfully made films (500) Days of Summer and The Fault in Our Stars. It's based on a book written by Graeme Simsion.

The story centers on a man named Don Tillman, "a professor of genetics who may suffer from Asperger’s and has never been on a second date until he embarks upon The Wife Project, designing a questionnaire to help him find the perfect partner: a punctual, non-drinking, non-smoking female who will fit in with his regimented lifestyle. When the unorthodox and free-spirited Rosie appears on the scene, it is clear that she fits none of his selection criteria, but she still may just be the perfect match to help turn his life around."

There's a lot of great talent surrounding this production, and if it all comes together it has the right mix of elements to make for a great movie.

Full Theatrical Trailer for THE INTERVIEW with Franco and Rogen

full-theatrical-trailer-for-the-interview-with-franco-and-rogen

The other day we posted a red-band trailer for the James Franco and Seth Rogen's upcoming comedy The Interview. The story takes the characters they play on a dangerous journey to assassinate the North Korean leader, Kim Jong-un. Today we have a new full theatrical green-band trailer for you to watch, and it offers just as much amusement as the red-band, it's just a lot cleaner.

In the action-comedy The Interview, Dave Skylark (Franco) and his producer Aaron Rapoport (Rogen) run the popular celebrity tabloid TV show “Skylark Tonight.” When they discover that North Korean dictator Kim Jong-un is a fan of the show, they land an interview with him in an attempt to legitimize themselves as journalists. As Dave and Aaron prepare to travel to Pyongyang, their plans change when the CIA recruits them, perhaps the two least-qualified men imaginable, to assassinate Kim Jong-un.

The movie is set to be released on December 25th.

Clint Eastwood's The Good, The Bad and The Ugly is my number one favorite western of all time. It's just a beautiful tribute to an amazing movie.

The producer of NBC's Peter Pan Live,  Neil Meron, has given us our first look at Christopher Walken as Captain Hook. I seriously don't even recognize him! He looks so weird. It's obviously not how I imagined he would look, but there's no doubt that he's going to give us one hell of an entertaining performance. In the photo Hook is locked in battle with Peter Pan (Allison Williams). The live broadcast airs on NBC from 8-10 p.m. on December 4th. What do you all think of Walken's Captain Hook look?

15 Laughable HE-MAN Action Figures

$

0

He-Man and the Masters of the Universe was one of my favorite cartoons when I was a kid, and I had a ridiculous amount of He-Man action figures. I spent hours playing in my back yard with my He-Man toys, rigging them up all over the place and making up my own storylines. I've got to say, though, there were some pretty silly characters they came up with that I look back on now and can't help but laugh about. I have no idea what Mattel was thinking when they came up with some of these deranged characters, but I put together a list of fifteen of the most laughable ones. Just because I call them laughable doesn't mean they aren't still awesome... because they are! I loved these action figures.

Moss Man

Let's face it, He-Man had its fair share of terrible characters and action figures, but Moss Man was especially ridiculous. It's horrific looking and reminded me more of fungus than it does moss. The moss even had a damp feel when you touched it. For effect, the toy makers gave the action figure a "real pine scent."

Stinkor

Here's another He-Man action figure that had to be on the list. Why? Because he actually came with a stinky stench made from patchouli oil. His power was literally to stink. I actually owned this stupid-ass figure, and for the life of me I can't remember why.

Grizzlor

This is the first He-Man figure that didn't prominently feature chest muscles and a crotch because they covered him in a hair. What in the hell was Mattel thinking when they made this? It reminds me of a Tribble from Star Trek. I'm sure they included the cross-bow weapon in hopes it would sell.

Ram Man

This poor bastard had no real future in the Kingdom of Eternia so what job does he get? They put a colander on his head and make him a human battering ram! What's even more sad is that even in the commercial advertising the Ram Man figure, he's unable to knock down a door that he repeatedly rams with his head. Ram Man is a complete failure.

Spikor

This character is couple shades of purple, six-feet-tall, covered in spikes, and he has some kind of triton claw weapon where his hand should be. The character's spikes were actually an armor that was magically fused to his body. I'm not sure what that does for him other than make him look weird. This figure was completely impractical, but the commercial has an awesome menacing theme song!

Rio Blast

Rio Blast sounds like the name of a new Mountain Dew flavor. The character is the cowboy warrior of Eternia and he's strapped with an arsenal of laser guns. Some of these guns were built into his chest and knees that would pop out. This guy was a one man army, and way too over the top with his seven weapons of destruction.

Extendar

This figure is a cyborg warrior that is made to look like a knight. What makes him special though is that he can mechanically extend his limbs, waist, and neck to extreme proportions because apparently growing taller makes him invincible. That logic doesn't make sense to me, but I'm a short dude, so I guess I'm screwed.

Hordak and His Evil Horde

Hordak surrounded himself with some pretty crappy supervillains that included Leech and Mantena, as well as Grizzlor, who I already mentioned. Hordak used this team to help him conquer Eternia after Skeletor betrayed him and trapped him in "another dimension." I've got to say though that the commercial released for these figures was awesome.

Two-Bad

This was such a disturbing character. He was a two headed evil warrior, and each half of his body was from some kind of completely different species. It's the most nightmarish siamese twin ever. The toy was marketed as the "double-headed evil strategist," the only thing was the two characters argued with each other more than they strategized.

Modulok

This figure was described as an "evil beast of a thousand bodies." It was one of the more unique figures because it was made of 22 different pieces that could be locked together to form different shapes. That way he could confuse his enemies. Of course most kids lost most of the pieces, and in the end he was just a torso with a head or two.

Mosquitor

Mosquitor was a giant cyborg mosquito, described as an "evil energy-draining insectoid." He would drain the blood of his opponents, which allowed him to recharge and give him more energy. He was supposed to be menacing, there was even a button on his back that when you pressed it his stomach fill up with that blood, but how can anyone take a guy that looks like this seriously?

Clawful

He's a man and a lobster… or a crab hybrid. He has one giant claw that can crush things and a little claw for use in everyday activities, like holding a mace to beat people with. All I know is that he looks like some kind of scientific experiment gone wrong. Hell, all of the these He-Man action figures do!

Fisto

This guy may have rocked a badass beard and stash, but his claim to fame is a giant metal hand that he would punch people with. The character could also smash through rock and other hard surfaces. This must have been a dark time for Mattel where they were really hurting for character ideas.

Stonedar and Rokkon

Stonedar and Rokkon transformed into rocks! What kind of kid would want a toy that transforms into a rock?! That just seems like the stupidest idea ever. That's even worse than the robot that transformed into a building in the Tom Hanks movie Big.

Snout Spout

He's a cyborg with a human body and a metal elephant head. I swear, some of these toy designers must have been high when they thought these things up. This character's main purpose was to be a firefighter, and his main power was shooting jets of water from his snout.

Even though it was delayed, 2K doesn't want you to forget just how new and improved WWE 2K15 looks over its predecessor. The trailer features previously unseen (in 2K15 footage that is) superstars like Kane, Rob Van Dam, Triple H, Daniel Bryan, Fandango (yeah, I was surprised too), Bray Wyatt, Rusev, and many more. The graphics have come a long way, and 2K's scanning tech has done wonders for the wrestlers themselves. While there are a few odd moments animation wise, the overhaul is readily apparent, and welcome. Take a gander at the trailer and see for yourself.

Bruce Wayne's Parents Can't Stop Dying: A Supercut

$

The murder of Thomas and Martha Wayne is one of the most important moments in comic book history, and as such, we have seen it unfold on screen again and again and again. Only a few retellings, including the beloved Batman: The Animated Series, have skipped it. The most recent iteration was, of course, just a couple nights ago in the pilot episode of Gotham (how did you all like that one?). To commemorate yet another scene of the future Batman’s parents getting shot in an alley after watching The Mark of Zorro, Vulture has put together this supercut of all the onscreen portrayals of the event.

What makes this video immensely more interesting than a simple edit that places all the scenes back to back, is that the video editors at Vulture play all the scenes simultaneously, matching up the first gunshot in each iteration, so we can see the subtle differences between them. It’s worth watching a few times just to take them all in, but then eat some ice cream or watch this video of pandas or just anything, ANYTHING, that will cheer you up because watching young Bruce Wayne watch his parents die over and over is kind of a downer.

X-Men: Days of Future Past comes out on Blu-ray October 14, but is available now on Amazon and iTunes.

Jacob LaRocca must have had a lot of time on his hands because he spent a lot of time building this Serenity ship from Firefly completely out of Duct Tape — 23 pounds worth! That's 27 rolls of tape and 110 hours worth of time. That, my friends, is some intense dedication… or boredom. You can see the full process of LaRocca making it right here. The amount of detail he put into this thing is pretty incredible as well. You can see some close up shots in the photos below.

WHIPLASH Director to Direct Neil Armstrong Biopic FIRST MAN

$

0

Whiplash director Damien Chazelle is in talks to direct the Neil Armstrong biopic First Man for Universal. Josh Singer will write the script, an adaptation of the biography First Man: The Life of Neil A. Armstrong, by James R. Hansen. Hansen had access to Armstrong’s family and to NASA to write the tome, and at 784 pages, it is thorough.

This project has been kicking around for a decade, and at one point Clint Eastwood was set to direct it for Warner Bros. I think Chazelle is a more interesting choice for the project, though.

For those of you who have been living under a rock/don’t believe in American exceptionalism and therefore have paid zero attention to major world events, Neil Armstrong was the first man to walk on the moon. Allegedly. (Just kidding, he really did, don’t believe the conspiracy theories.) He was a fighter pilot, then a test pilot, then an astronaut. And even though now most astronauts are sciencey nerdy types (whom we love), early astronauts were basically test pilots in space. They were hardcore.

Armstrong’s constant pushing of the limits is an interesting match for Chazelle, whose movie Whiplash (which is excellent! and opening soon! watch us gush about it here!) is about also about pushing limits. I’m interested to see what he’ll do with the material. We’ll have to wait awhile for it, because before he gets around to First Man he will likely direct La La Land, a musical starring Emma Watson and Miles Teller. We also can’t wait to see that one, for obvious reasons.
