With the Blu-ray and DVD release of Godzilla coming up, Warner Bros. and Legendary Pictures have released the epic final battle from the Gareth Edwards-directed movie.
I really enjoyed this movie, and I'm really excited for the sequel that is going to eventually happen. We won't see that sequel until June 8th, 2018, but it's coming! Edwards will start working on it as soon as he's done working on his Star Wars movie for Lucasfilm.
Godzilla will be released on Blu-ray/DVD on September 16th.
I can't even fathom what Yoda would have been like had he not been voiced by the great Frank Oz, but it almost happened. Oz reveals in an interview that George Lucas initially rejected his voice for the character in Empire Strikes Back, and then went on to audition other people for the role. Lucas eventually came to his senses and asked Oz to come back and provide the voice for Yoda. This is just one of those "what if" moments that makes us think about what Yoda would have been like had Oz not been asked to come back. YouTuber Ozzy Man has amusingly recut scenes from Game of Thrones Season 4 with nothing but 8-Bit video game sounds, and it's as entertaining as you think it would be. It does contain some Season 4 SPOILERS, so I wouldn't watch it if you haven't finished the season yet.
Disney and Lucasfilm have released a short for Star Wars Rebels that features the character Zeb. The character was Inspired by the original design for Chewbacca created by Star Wars concept artist Ralph McQuarrie. Zeb is voiced by Steve Blum, and he's basically the muscle of the group. In the clip you'll get to see him take on a dozen Stormtroopers while showcasing his snarky attitude.
Star Wars Rebels takes place between Star Wars: Episode III and Star Wars: Episode IV, which spans about two decades. The animated series is set in a time where the Empire is securing its grip on the galaxy and hunting down the last of the Jedi Knights as a fledgling rebellion against the Empire is taking shape.
Star Wars Rebels premieres on October 3rd at 9 p.m. on Disney Channel with a movie, and then the series will debut on October 13th at 9 p.m. on Disney XD.
Disney has released another still from their incredible looking action adventure film Big Hero Six. It features the two main characters from the story, Hiro and Baymax. Baymax is being scanned for the armor that Hiro is about to make for him.
The film is based on a Marvel comic, and fans are going to love what this movie has to offer. I was lucky enough to see a little bit of it and will be providing some more information about the film at a later date.
The film is about "the special bond that develops between Baymax (voice of Scott Adsit), a plus-sized inflatable robot, and prodigy Hiro Hamada (voice of Ryan Potter). When a devastating event befalls the city of San Fransokyo and catapults Hiro into the midst of danger, he turns to Baymax and his close friends adrenaline junkie Go Go Tomago (voice of Jamie Chung), neatnik Wasabi (voice of Damon Wayans Jr.), chemistry whiz Honey Lemon (voice of Genesis Rodriguez) and fanboy Fred (voice of T.J. Miller). Determined to uncover the mystery, Hiro transforms his friends into a band of high-tech heroes called Big Hero 6."
The animated feature will be released on November 7th, 2014.

Paramount Pictures has released a couple of stills giving us our first look at their upcoming Martin Luther King Jr. drama Selma. The film tells the story of King Jr.‘s fight to pass the Voting Rights Act of 1965.
David Oyelowo plays the civil rights leader, and it has an impressive supporting cast that also includes Carmen Ejogo as Coretta Scott King, Tom Wilkinson as President Lyndon B. Johnson, with Tim Roth, Giovanni Ribisi, Cuba Gooding Jr., Common, Wendell Pierce, and Lorraine Toussaint. The photos give us a look at some of these actors. Here's a short synopsis:
SELMA is the story of Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr.’s historic struggle to secure voting rights for all people – a dangerous and terrifying campaign that culminated with the epic march from Selma to Montgomery, Alabama, and led to President Johnson signing the Voting Rights Act of 1965.
The movie will be released in theaters on December 25th.

"The Sequel You Did Nazi Coming" is definitely one of the crazier tag lines that I've seen for a movie. There's also an even crazier poster to go along with the pun that features a bloody limbed swastika.
Dead Snow: Red Vs. Dead was directed by Tommy Wirkola, and I love how ridiculously over the top the first movie was. I'm definitely on board with the sequel, and here's a brief synopsis:
And there's a lot of them. On the orders of a rotten Führer, the zombies from Dead Snow return to settle old German scores. In thecontinuation of the epic splatterfest from 2009, Martin, the sole survivor of the first movie, prove that there's more badass shit in Northern Norway than even Nazi zombies would be prepared for. The table is set for a massive revenge epic, where blood, guts, brainsand throats are not the only things dredged up from the darkness. Old hatred never rots.
The movie will be released on VOD platforms and get a limited theatrical released on October 10th, 2014.

Sony Pictures has released a featurette for Denzel Washington's upcoming action-thriller The Equalizer. It gives us a better idea of the type of character that Washington plays in the story. I never watched the TV series that the movie is based on, but I do like what I've seen from this movie. I think it's going to be good.
In The Equalizer, Denzel Washington plays McCall, a man who believes he has put his mysterious past behind him and dedicated himself to beginning a new, quiet life. But when McCall meets Teri (Chloë Grace Moretz), a young girl under the control of ultra-violent Russian gangsters, he can't stand idly by -- he has to help her. Armed with hidden skills that allow him to serve vengeance against anyone who would brutalize the helpless, McCall comes out of his self-imposed retirement and finds his desire for justice reawakened. If someone has a problem, if the odds are stacked against them, if they have nowhere else to turn, McCall will help. He is The Equalizer.
The Antoine Fuqua-directed film opens in theaters September 26th.

Hershel's death in The Walking Dead Season 4 was one of the hardest and most shocking things for me to watch in the series. It really hit me hard, and it changed the whole dynamic of the show and the characters who are going through this insane journey.
THR has released a bonus clip from the upcoming DVD and Blu-ray release that features the cast and crew discussing the death of Hershel and what it means. For example, Showrunner Scott M. Gimple says that the murdering of the character represented the death of civilization.
You can watch and listen to producer Gale Anne Hurd, and stars Andrew Lincoln (Rick) and David Morrissey (The Governor) talk about the shocking death in the video below. This is just a clip from a much longer discussion, but it's worth checking out.

Our friends at Latino-Review have another big scoop regarding Star Wars: Episode VII, and it involves a villainous character from the original trilogy returning to wreak havoc on the galaxy.
There's really no point beating around the bush with this one. The site has had two independent sources confirm that Emperor Palpatine, a.k.a. Darth Sidious, is back and that he will once again be the evil puppet master who is pulling the strings of all the other villains in the story.
I'm sure some of you are thinking… "wait a second, didn't he die in Return of the Jedi?" Just because Darth Vader throws him down the shaft of a large space station that exploded doesn't mean that he died. We really never saw him die. He just kind of fell into a bluish light and exploded.
In the extended universe Palpatine didn't stay dead either. He used a rare and ancient Force technique to transfer his spirit into one of many clone bodies stored on the Deep Core world of Byss. Maybe director J.J. Abrams used that as inspiration to bring him into the new films. Maybe just maybe he transferred his spirit into a robotish cyborg body like the one we see in the concept art below. Is this actually Palpatine staring at the helmet of Darth Vader? It seems to make a lot more sense now, doesn't it?
The site goes on to say that their source told them that "The Emperor '100%' will appear in Star Wars Episode VII and VIII. Don't look for confirmation of this from Ian Mcdiarmid, because he's not portraying the Emperor this time."
We'll treat it as a rumor for now, but what do you think about the possibility of the return of this character?
The creators of Better Call Saul have released a teaser clip from the upcoming Breaking Bad spin-off series that asks the question… "How do you become Saul Goodman?" In the video, Vince Gilligan and showrunner Peter Gould discuss the mystery of why Saul (Bob Odenkirk) is called Jimmy McGill in the show. Saul Goodman wasn't always named Saul Goodman.
He once told Walter White that he adopted the Jewish surname to cater to the "homeboys" who "wanted a member of the tribe" to represent them. Apparently, there was a lot more to it than that, and we'll see that play out in the new series.
The video also includes a clip from the show that features Jimmy McGill saying he doesn't go out looking for guilty people to represent. He's either he's lying or things change for him in a big way later on down the road.
According to Deadline, Warner Bros. and director Josh Boone (The Fault of Our Stars) want to bring on Matthew McConaughy to play the villain Randall Flagg in their big screen adaptation of Stephen King's The Stand. I honestly couldn't think of anyone better to play this role. McConaughey is perfect for the personification of evil in King's apocalyptic classic.
Flagg isn't only a character in The Stand, he has appeared in at least eight other King novels. Sometimes he's the primary antagonist, and other times it's just a cameo appearance. Some of those books include The Eyes of the Dragon and The Dark Tower. Flagg is described by King as "an accomplished sorcerer and a devoted servant of the Outer Dark." He has supernatural abilities involving necromancy, prophecy, and influence over animal and human behavior. His goals basically involve bringing down civilizations through destruction and conflict.
In The Stand, Flagg is a demonic figure who wreaks havoc after a plague kills most of the population. The character was played by Jamie Sheridan in the TV miniseries adaptation.
The director is planning on a 3-hour, R-rated version of this movie, and he wants to fill it with an ensemble cast of A-list actors. If he can get McConaughey on board, the rest of the actors are sure to follow.
I'm really excited about this adaptation and from what I've read about what Boone wants to do with it, and I think the movie is going to turn out awesome!
In a recent interview with Empire Magazine, Joss Whedon and Kevin Feige discussed certain aspects of Avengers: Age of Ultron. Whedon started out talking about the scope of the movie, saying, "It's more epic and in other ways it's more noirish and suspect and devious and specific. Ultron...he's got a touch of the apocalypse in him." Feige went on to elaborate on Ultron and his, army adding,
"Ultron was the villain Joss wanted, from midway through production on the first film, to have serious repercussions for The Avengers. We unveiled a poster here which is nothing but Ultron after Ultron after Ultron clawing at the beginning to defeat all of our Avengers. That's what a lot of this movie is about."
That's all the movie is about?! I'm sure there's more to it than that, but it definitely sounds like the Avengers are going to have their work cut out for them constantly battling Ultron and his army.
They went on to talk about the footage screened at Comic-Con back in July, which included an insanely cool shot of the Hulk battling Tony Stark in his Hulkbuster armor. In regard to that, Feige only said, "It's a bespoke suit. The back-up plan in case things go awry." Whedon, however, had a little bit more to say about it and the relationship between Stark and Bruce Banner.
"The Hulkbuster is from after my time [as a reader], but even I knew what a big deal it was. It makes sense because there's no one who can really go up against Hulk, but more importantly, those guys are best friends, so what that battle is and what it means is fascinating to me."
The stuff I saw from this movie simply blew me away, and it's going to be so cool to see the superhero gang back together again, fighting to save the world. There's no doubt that Iron Man battling the Hulk is going to be one of the most anticipated scenes in the movie.

The fine folks at Funko Toys have revealed the first Marvel-approved dancing Groot toy from Guardians of the Galaxy. According to Ryan Penagos, Executive Editorial Director of Marvel Digital Media, the pre-orders for the toy will start "real soon." There's no exact date or price yet, but it's sure to be one of those toys that sells out all over the place. Of course, if you don't want buy one, or can't get because you can't find one, you can alway make your own like this guy did.
Steve Martin is in negotiations with Disney to star in a family comedy called Magic Camp that he co-wrote with Stu Zicherman, the writer and director of A.C.O.D. I am a huge fan of Martin, and I enjoy his writing style. The original script was written by Gabe Sachs and Jeff Judah, who also wrote Diary of a Wimpy Kid.
According to THR, the story tells of "a straitlaced banker who returns to Magic Camp, which he attended as a shy child. This time he is a counselor who makes it his mission to improve the lives of all the kids while keeping an eye on his ultimate prize, the top spot at the Golden Wand competition."
This is the perfect project for Martin, as one of his early jobs was working at Merlin's Magic Shop at Disneyland. He was also a magician in his early days as a comedian. I'm sure Martin has a lot of fun stuff to add to the script and this story.
There's no director attached to the film yet, but as long as Martin is on board the film will be in good hands. The last film that Martin worked on with Disney was 2003’s comedy hit Bringing Down the House. He also worked with them on the Father of the Bride movies. The last feature film he had a starring role in was the 2011 comedy The Big Year with Jack Black and Owen Wilson.
It's time for Martin to make another fun movie, and I thin Magic Camp is going to be it.
Developer The Astronauts is trying to deliver an immersive story unlike anything else currently out there, and it's a noble goal. In an age when most games tend to hold the hands of the protagonist to the point where it is an hour before you truly are "in control," Ethan Carter gives you the reigns almost immediately and doesn't restrict you once in the world either. If you see it in the distance, you can get there, and you can get there now. To see a bit of how this open world affects the gameplay, you can peep the gameplay trailer below, complete with developer commentary.
Vanishing puts you in control of Detective Paul Prospero, who receives a message from Ethan Carter, and sensing trouble, goes to investigate the boy's disappearance. The game will have some supernatural overtones but won't be an all out horror title. Here is a bit of what founder Adrian Chmielarz had to say. (via Playstation.blog )
"As I hope you can see from this short description, we’re trying to mix pulp and horror into one cohesive experience. And if that makes you suspect we’re making this game inspired by the weird fiction stories and other tales of the macabre from the early 20th century, then you’re on the right track. Writers like Algernon Blackwood, Stefan Grabinski, and, of course, the CEO of Cthulhu himself, H.P. Lovecraft have heavily influenced every layer of our narrative and world design.
"The game is played through first-person perspective whereby you explore and interact with the world in order to discover the truth behind Ethan’s disappearance. You conduct the investigation on your own terms and at your own pace. Although we did put a few scary bits in the game, there is no need for sedatives. It’s less about pure terror and more about, as our writers put it, 'clammy unease.'"
All in all, it sounds like a refreshing change from the shooter and action heavy games coming out over the next few months. Vanishing will release for the PC on September 25th and will be coming to consoles via the PS4 sometime next year.
