Trailer for a New Supernatural Thriller Called THE REMAINING

0

remaining_xlg.jpg

The Remaining is another supernatural horror thriller that deals with the end of days as described in the Book of Revelations in the Bible. The film was directed by Alexa Vega, and it offers a crazy look at what the rapture might look like in the most extreme ways. It's got fallen angeles, destruction, and death. This could actually be a decent movie. Here's the synopsis:

THE REMAINING is an action-packed supernatural thriller that addresses questions of life, love and belief against an apocalyptic backdrop. A group of close friends gather for a wedding, but the celebration is shattered by a series of cataclysmic events and enemies foretold by biblical end-times prophecies. The survivors face a horrifying, uncertain future as they scramble for safety, but as their world collapses around them in chaos and terror will they choose real life through faith, or just try to survive?

The movie comes out on September 5th.

New Info on Batman's Beginning in BATMAN V SUPERMAN

batman_v_superman__dawn_of_justice_wallpaper.jpg

Yesterday some video surfaced of Ben Affleck on the set of Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice as Bruce Wayne. You can see in the video that he's sporting some grey hair on the sides of his head, which is more confirmation that he will be playing a much older version of this character.

Thanks to Badass Digest, we have some new information on the character and how he will be presented at the beginning of the film. I'll throw out a SPOILER warning, just in case you think the following are spoilers. I personally don't see them that way, but to each their own. Now on to the good stuff!

The movie opens with Batman, who has already been around for "close to thirty years, which would place Wayne in his 50s. In this version Batman is still an urban legend, a creature of the night, and no one has ever taken his picture. But he's had plenty of adventures, and the Batcave includes a memorial centered around a tattered Robin costume."

I do love that they are going with this version of the Dark Knight as we've never seen on the big screen before. This will obviously be very different from what Bale brought to the character, which is what needed to happen. The site goes on to explain that "he's a quieter operator, not involved in blockbuster battles but in all sorts of badass vigilantism."

Their source also tells them that "Wonder Woman has also been in operation for some time before Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice begins, and her activities have been just as secretive as Batman's. Her activities were badass as well... but in a very different, and unexpected, way."

I like everything that I've heard about and seen from this movie so far, and I'm excited for it. This film could be absolutely incredible. I know Snyder has the visual aspect of it down, but he did for Man of Steel as well. I didn't care for the story and script for that as it was very choppy and all over the place. I hope the story and script for Batman v Superman flows a lot better, and the movie isn't just a bunch of cool visuals edited together.

Watch Chris Pratt Hilariously Predict his JURASSIC WORLD Role 5 Years Ago

This is a behind-the-scenes video for Parks and Recreation that Chris Pratt shot around 2009. At the end of the video he hilariously predicts his casting in the fourth Jurassic Park film, which ended up being Jurassic World. I'm sure he never thought at that time that his career would completely blow up in the way that it did. Pratt is awesome though, and it's cool to see all the awesome work that he's getting. It's about to get even crazier for him with the success of Guardians of the Galaxy.

CAPTAIN AMERICA 3 Plans Teased by Russo Brothers

Captain America: The Winter Soldier was such a kick-ass movie, and I can only imagine that the third one will be even better. I couldn't be happier that Marvel brought back Anthony and Joe Russo to develop the next chapter in the story.

It was previously reported that the movie would focus on Bucky Barnes a.k.a. The Winter Soldier, and Steve Rogers' search for him. It was specifically described as "an introduction to Bucky's story."  In a recent interview with Yahoo, the directing duo teased some of their plans for the movie. Anthony said this about Cap:

"The character was invented for an explicitly political purpose. So it’s hard to get away from that nature."

They went on say that that the movie will take place "a couple of years" after Winter Solider, and that they'll be building off of Winter Soldier for the upcoming third film, saying they will be "bringing some new elements to the table that will give us a twist on Winter Soldier."

Of course they won't tell us what those elements are. You can watch them talk more about Cap  in the video below. Captain America 3 is set to be released on May 6th, 2016, which is the same day that Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice comes out.

Read Nathan Fillion's Fantastic Foreword to Joss Whedon's Biography

read-nathan-fillions-fantastic-forward-to-joss-whedons-biography-social.jpg

Nathan Fillion and Joss Whedon have a very long working relationship that started when Fillion played the legendary Captain Malcolm Reynolds on FIrefly. Since then they've worked on several projects together, with Fillion even playing the "Little Bad" in season 7 of Buffy the Vampire Slayer. They have such a strong friendship that Fillion wrote a wonderful foreword to Whedon's biography. The foreword was published by USA Today, and I've included part of it below:

My generation, we were kind of raised on the super-cool, "I can handle anything" with a gun in his hand hero. Any situation you throw at him, he can handle it — with catchphrases. It was very cool.

But Joss Whedon's version of a hero doesn't always win. He loses more than he wins, and when he wins, the victories are tiny, but he takes 'em. "That's a victory! I call that a victory!" It's a tiny victory — he takes it, and that's what he walks away with. And that's something I can actually relate to.

...

I described Joss to a friend as we were on our way over to his house for a party. And she's heard me tell stories over the years about this fellow. We went to his house, we had a great time, and on the way home, she said, "You know, I got to say, from your description of the kind of guy this guy is, and from all the stories you've told me — I expected him to be six two, chiseled jaw, long, wavy golden hair and bright blue eyes and gleaming teeth, and just chesty and ..." The guy, she said, "when you describe him, he's so heroic."

And yeah, he is. He's heroic like that.

To read the full thing click here. Both Whedon and Fillion have huge fanbases. They are both just very likable and talented guys who create stuff that people enjoy. Fillion seems like he's just as big a fan of Whedon as the rest of us, and every point he makes in this foreword is right on the money.

Joss Whedon: The Biography was written by Amy Pascale and is currently in stores everywhere. In case you missed them you can read Tom Hiddleston's thank you letter to Whedon here and sections of the chapter about Firefly here. Whedon's next film, The Avengers: Age of Ultron, will be released in theaters May 1st, 2015.

Nicolas Cage Vs The Rapture in Trailer for LEFT BEHIND

This is the second trailer we have to share with you today about a movie that deals with the rapture. This movie is called Left Behind, and in it Nicolas Cage faces off with the end of the world. I don't understand what Hollywood's fascination with the rapture is all of a sudden, but audiences are sure to get sick of it really fast. This movie looks pretty bad, and I don't think I'll be wasting my time watching it. What make me really sad is that these are the kinds of films that Cage has resorted to making.

Left Behind follows Rayford Steele (Cage), who is piloting a commercial airliner just hours after the Rapture when millions of people around the globe simply vanish. Thirty thousand feet over the Atlantic, Rayford is faced with a damaged plane, terrified passengers, and a desperate desire to get back to his family. On the ground, his daughter, Chloe Steele (Cassi Thomson) is among those left behind, forced to navigate a world of madness as she searches for her lost mother and brother.

The movie also stars Chad Michael Murray, Nicky Whelan, Lea Thompson, Jordan Sparks, Quinton Aaron, and Martin Klebba. It will be released in theaters on October 3rd.

Who Doesn't Like Groot Loops? Superhero Cereal Art by Crystal Fontan

Almost everyone has a cereal that directly ties to their youth, whether that be Trix, Cookie Crisps, Oat Bran (yeah, there was always that one family), etc. For me its Fruity Pebbles, which will always be tied to late night run throughs of Breath of Fire III, accompanied by the lovely sounds of K-Ci & JoJo's "All My Life."

Yeah, not sure where to go from there, so let's move on.

My early developing psychosis aside, Fruity Pebbles will always stir up fond memories, but can you imagine if Marvel Studios had been around back then? Marvel is not shy about putting their heroes on anything and everything, and cereal would be a no brainier. Turns out Crystal Fontan (Bamboota on Etsy) saw the same possibilities and created this adorable set of Marvel Super Hero themed cereal box art, which has been since turned into Tshirts. While you might have a hard time grabbing the tees anymore, you can grab some prints of the art on her Etsy page. While Groot Loops takes the cake, I do love that Cap's come with bloody trading cards. Poor Coulson.

DreamWorks Animation has released a new trailer for The Penguins of Madagascar. I got to see 20 minutes of footage from this movie at Comic-Con last month, and I've gotta tell you, it looks hilarious. This is one of those animated movies that both kids and their parents will enjoy watching. This latest trailer shows some footage that highlights the fun humor.

Super spy teams aren’t born…they’re hatched.  Discover the secrets of the greatest and most hilarious covert birds in the global espionage biz: Skipper, Kowalski, Rico and Private.  These elitists of the elite are joining forces with a chic undercover organization, The North Wind.  Led by handsome and husky Agent Classified (we could tell you his name, but then…you know), voiced by Benedict Cumberbatch.  Together, they must stop the villainous Dr. Octavius Brine, voiced by John Malkovich, from destroying the world as we know it.

The movie comes out on November 26th, and it stars the voices of Tom McGrath, Chris Miller, Christopher Knights, Benedict Cumberbatch, Ken Jeong, Annet Mahendru, Peter Stormare, and John Malkovich.

Kevin Feige Teases GUARDIANS OF THE GALAXY 2 Plot and Villains

Marvel Studios president Kevin Feige sure does love to talk about his movies, which is one of the things that makes him such a cool guy. During an interview with IGN he talked about several aspects of Guardians of the Galaxy, teasing the sequel's plot and discussing Thanos and a few other villains from the universe.

If you haven't seen Guardians of the Galaxy yet, you may not want to keep reading any further. So let's go down the line of questioning!

When asked about Peter Quill's father and his importance to the story, he said,

"I think it's pretty important. I think there's a reason we seeded it at the very end of the film like that. I think that would certainly be part of a next Guardians adventure. Certainly, that would be part of it."

Feige confirmed that we wouldn't learn about this little aspect of Quill's life until the sequel, saying they "would wait for the next Guardians adventure." He then added,

"I think that's pretty important for James [Gunn] and would be appropriate in a [Guardians movie]. I don't think you'd spoil that in Cap 3."

He' was asked about Nebula and if she would return for the sequel. She was one of my favorite villains of the movie, and I would have liked to see more of her. I hope they explore this villain further, because she's such a badass!

"I would say any character that doesn't overtly perish is certainly fair game to come back. If people know the comic lore, Nebula has a lot of varying different roles to play over the course of a lot of different titles in the comics. We have somebody like Karen, and you have a look that is so weird and so great. I think that's something we'd all like to see again."

Hell yeah, we would! IGN brought up Thanos and how we have yet to see the full scope of his power. They went on to ask him if he felt they needed to highlight the consequences of Thanos' wrath, to which he replied,

"That is an excellent point to make. I don't know. The truth is, anything I say would be a spoiler, frankly, on that. I don't think it's required. I think you could go right into a Thanos-centered movie and tell the audience anything you need to know. But the fun of our universe is that the characters can pop up in multiple franchises, so... perhaps. It is a good question."

I'm looking forward to the day where we see Thanos' power fully realized and displayed on the big screen. It will happen one day, and I hope it happens with the Avengers and Guardians teaming up against him. When asked about that team-up and how the two teams would get along with each other, Feige said:

"You know, the fun about The Avengers, as we we're gearing up to that, was 'how would Tony Stark deal with goody two-shoes Steve Rogers in World War II?' What would Tony Stark think of a Norse god who wields a hammer? The brilliance of Joss [Whedon] was having fun with that. So who knows if and when these guys would ever connect, but it is fun thinking about, how would Steve Rogers react to Rocket? Or, you're right, Drax couldn't even have a conversation with Tony Stark! [Laughs] I have a theory that the more time Drax spends with Peter Quill, the more he's going to start to learn, perhaps, that people aren't always as literal as his species would assume."

There's a lot of good food for thought here, and all of our questions will be answered, and (hopefully) our hopes and dreams will be realized when Guardians of the Galaxy 2 is released in 2017.

I Know Why Kevin Feige Won't Make a Movie About a Marvel Heroine

0
0
i-know-why-kevin-feige-wont-make-a-movie-about-a-marvel-heroine-social.jpg

Another Marvel Press Tour, another unsatisfactory answer to the question of when Marvel will make a movie about a female superhero. In a recent interview with Scott Huver of Comic Book Resources, Kevin Feige once again punted on the question of when fans will see a female-led Marvel movie. Feige is asked this in basically every interview he ever gives because people are really interested in seeing Black Widow or Captain Marvel take the lead/make it to the screen at all. So you’d think he would have come up with a satisfactory answer by now. He hasn’t. This is what he told Huver:

“I think you're right about that, and I think it comes down to timing, which is what I've sort of always said, and it comes down to us being able to tell the right story. I very much believe in doing it. I very much believe that it's unfair to say, 'People don't want to see movies with female heroes,' then list five movies that were not very good, therefore, people didn't go to the movies because they weren't good movies, versus [because] they were female leads. And they don't mention Hunger Games, Frozen, Divergent. You can go back to Kill Bill or Aliens. These are all female-led movies. It can certainly be done. I hope we do it sooner rather than later. But we find ourselves in the very strange position of managing more franchises than most people have — which is a very, very good thing and we don't take for granted, but is a challenging thing. You may notice from those release dates, we have three for 2017. And that's because just the timing worked on what was sort of gearing up. But it does mean you have to put one franchise on hold for three or four years in order to introduce a new one? I don't know. Those are the kinds of chess matches we're playing right now.”

That seems disingenuous at best. He doesn’t have to “hope” for a movie with a female star, he can greenlight one. And the onerous demands of the Avengers and their subordinate franchises haven't prevented him from opening new swaths of the Marvel Cinematic Universe with Guardians of the Galaxy and Doctor Strange. Slashfilm’s Angie Han compiled an extensive collection of Feige’s wishy-washy quotes on the subject, and it will convince you that Feige is just not interested in making a movie about a Marvel superheroine. So the question becomes, why not?

I was thinking about that, and I realized we got an answer four years ago, not from Feige, but from Marvel’s Chief Creative Officer, Joe Quesada. At the 2010 San Diego Comic-Con Marvel: Cup O’ Joe panel, someone asked how the (then recent) sale to Disney had affected Marvel’s day-to-day operations. Not at all, said Quesada, and he went on to explain:

“The reason the marriage is so perfect is because we do something that Disney doesn’t do well, which is we have a very strong primarily male following, whereas Disney has almost the exact opposite, so it’s a perfect marriage for both them and us.”

Disney bought Marvel because they wanted access to men’s wallets. They already had ladies’ purses on lockdown. Marvel makes movies for boys, and the 44% of Guardians of the Galaxy opening weekend audience members who were female? I guess that’s just gravy. But whatever Feige says about Hunger Games and Aliens, someone at Disney or Marvel Studios doesn’t think men will see a movie about a woman, no matter how much ass she kicks, and they already have Princess movies like Frozen and Maleficent for women to see.

In fact, before the sale to Disney, Marvel was set to launch Phase 2 of their MCU with a Runaways film. That's not an entirely female team of superteens, but it is a female-centric and female-led team of superteens. They had a script, a director, and casting had begun when production was halted in October of 2010, and now it has been shelved indefinitely. Drew Pearce, the screenwriter on the project, was moved to Iron Man 3 based on the strength of his Runaways script.

I don't know if Disney execs are the people Feige says unfairly claim that "People don't want to see movies with female heroes," but I am going to guess they are. Disney and Marvel gave Guardians of the Galaxy a $170 million budget. That's a huge gamble on a set of characters most people have never heard of. Black Widow is an established character who has already been in four Marvel movies (I am including Age of Ultron in that number), you could easily make a movie about her for half of what they spent on Guardians, and Captain America: The Winter Soldier perfectly set her up to go off and do her own thing for awhile. Too bad Disney isn't interested in seeing her do anything but support the boys.

Sean Bean May Have Dropped A Major Spoiler About GAME OF THRONES In His AMA...

sean-bean-may-have-dropped-a-major-spoiler-about-game-of-thrones-in-his-ama-header.jpg

OBLIGATORY WARNING: STOP READING IF YOU HAVEN’T READ THE BOOKS OR SEEN THE CURRENT SEASON! THIS RUMOR DEALS IN FAN THEORY AND MAY OR MAY NOT BE TRUE.

.

.

.

Okay now that they’re all gone, Sean Bean did an AMA on Reddit recently and sent /r/gameofthrones ablaze with speculation with one simple statement…

Wait...did Sean Bean confirm that Jon Snow was not Ned Stark’s son?! No, he wouldn’t have any way of knowing that….would he? Surely it’s just confusion on his part.

For those still scratching their heads, there has been long spread speculation that Jon Snow is not the love child of an affair Ned had...but rather a Targaryen. Fan theory goes that Jon Snow is actually a love child of Ned’s sister, Lyanna and the slain Rhaegar Targaryen. Ned lied to protect the child of his sister, and raised the bastard Targaryen as his own. Big whoop right? Lyanna was not Rhaegar’s official wife and has no bearing to the throne, so why would that be relevant now?

This goes back to something that wasn’t addressed in the television series that’s kind of important to the rest of the series. When Daenerys is in the house of the undying, she sees the birth of Aegon Targaryen and it is proclaimed, “The Dragon has three heads,” meaning there must be three children to ride the past dragons of legend. See where this is going now?

Fan speculation is that there will be an eventual “team” of dragon riders. Daenerys will helm one, her “cousin” Jon Snow the second, and an unnamed third — fans say Tyrion. Honestly, to me I think at one point it could have been true, but now that George R.R. Martin is undoubtedly aware of this theory he could switch it up just to mess with people.

The biggest question is, why would Sean Bean know any of this? Most likely he has no clue one way or another. MAYBE though, he filmed a sequence in which the Jon Snow origin was explained near the beginning of the show considering he’s only been on one season. That way in case he died, or aged considerably near the series end he wouldn’t look any different in the flashbacks. That’s just wishful thinking though, as I’m 90% sure Bean is either confused or f****** with us.

How CAPTAIN AMERICA: THE WINTER SOLDIER Should Have Ended

This alternate ending that HISHE came up with for Captain America: The Winter Soldier is pretty great. They point out some things that make so much more sense than what we saw in the movie. I understand that the movie did what it did to provide audiences with some amazing entertainment, and it worked! But there were some smarter ideas that Captain America and his team could have implemented to save the world.

Before going into battle, Cap and Team discuss their options and realize they've had something very useful in their possession all along.

Terminator 5 Official Title is TERMINATOR GENISYS

@ Terminator

The fifth Terminator movie has officially wrapped production, and Arnold Schwarzenegger released a photo officially announcing the title of the film, Terminator Genisys. The movie has been going by Terminator: Genesis for a awhile now, but they obviously felt that spelling Genesis the normal way would be too boring so they switched it up a bit to add a little spice to it. I personally think it's even more ridiculous now. This is the note that Schwarzenegger provided with the photo.

Hasta la vista, baby. I want to thank the cast and crew of @TerminatorGenisys for a fantastic shoot. It was challenging, it was fun, and it was rewarding. From our director to the producers, from the camera team to catering, from visual effects to hair and makeup - we couldn't have done it without you. I can't wait to see our finished project and I know we'll remind the fans why they fell in love with the Terminator. On July 1, 2015, I'll be back.

The film was directed by Alan Taylor and also stars Emilia Clarke as Sarah Connor, Jason Clarke as John Connor, Jai Courtney as Kyle Reese, with J.K. Simmons, Dayo Okeniyi, Byung Hun Lee, and Matt Smith

Marvel has released a cool behind the scenes video for Guardians of the Galaxy in which Chris Pratt shows off Star-Lord's Milano spaceship. For those of you who didn't know, the ship is named after Peter Quill’s childhood crush on Alyssa Milano from the 1980s TV show Who's the Boss. The video is done in a MTV cribs kind of style, and it shows off all the fun little details that they included to bring this awesome ship to life.

BATMAN V SUPERMAN : DAWN OF JUSTICE has a New Release Date

Warner Bros. has moved the release date for Zack Snyder's Batman V. Superman: Dawn of Justice from May 6th, 2016 to March 25th, 2016. So there will be no box office showdown between Batman v Superman and Captain America 3, which is kind of a bummer. I was looking forward to seeing the outcome of that. If this was a game of chicken, it looks like Marvel won.

Fans who attended the Warner Bros. panel at Comic-Con last month got a chance to see the first footage from the movie, and it sure looked spectacular. You can read the footage description for it here

At least we'll get to see Batman v Superman more than a month earlier, so that's a plus.

SPACE STATION 76 Trailer - Dark Sci-fi Comedy with Liv Tyler and Patrick Wilson

Comedic actor Josh Plotnick makes his feature directorial debut with the dark comedy Space Station 76, a fantastic looking send up of the 1970s' vision of the future. Co-written by Plotnick with a whole team of writers, this character-driven workplace dramedy is the closest thing we’ll get to Office Space writer-director Mike Judge jumping in a time machine and going back to helm the original Star Trek series.

The movie has a strong cast in different roles than we’re used to seeing them in. It’s great to see Patrick Wilson and Liv Tyler in a comedy and Matt Bomer outside of television, and it’s just good to see Jerry O’Connell period. The film debuted at SXSW earlier this year to mostly positive reviews, and it will come out later this year.

During an interview with MTV, Benedict Cumberbatch was asked about Jar Jar Binks from the Star Wars prequels, and all of a sudden he horrifyingly broke out into a crazy accurate Jar Jar Binks impression. I never in a million years would have expected that voice to come out of his mouth, but you can listen to him pull it off below. Thanks to the MTV for the heads up.

Marvel has released a couple of deleted scenes from Captain America: The Winter Solider that will be included on the upcoming DVD/Blu-ray release. The scenes do fill in a couple of gaps, but nothing too major. This was my favorite Marvel movie… until Guardians of the Galaxy came out and blew it away.

Captain America: The Winter Soldier is set to be released on September 9th.
