MURDERED: SOUL SUSPECT - New Trailer Spotlights the Bell Killer

$

If you haven't heard, Square Enix's latest game, Murdered: Soul Suspect, stars Ronan O'Connor, a detective who for unknown reasons inherits supernatural powers after his death, which are to aid him in hunting down the man who killed him, nicknamed the Bell Killer. The newest trailer revolves around said Bell Killer, but if you haven't seen the game in action, do yourself a favor and scroll down to view the E3 presentation from 2013 to see it a bit more in depth.

The game looks like L.A. Noire mixed with some Alan Wake type supernatural elements, and that is too fantastic a combination to not be excited. I love the idea of putting together clues and facts to form a case, or in this instance, to figure out whom you were murdered by and why. The game releases in early June of this year, but in the meantime, take a look at some new screens from the game down below.

The official title card for the newly titled The Hobbit: The Battle of the Five Armies has been released. It's nothing spectacular, but I'm really excited about this final film in the trilogy! This is basically what we're going to be seeing on all the marketing material for the film, such as posters and trailers. The movie comes out on December 17th, 2014, and it better include a battle of five armies!

Here is another great piece of art from Marco D’Alfonso featuring Peanuts characters in the world of Spider-Man. The illustration is appropriately titled, "With Great Power Comes Great Grief." That statement is so, so true.

I might as well use this opportunity to remind you to go see The Amazing Spider-Man 2 if you haven't already. The movie wasn't without its flaws, but I still thought it was awesome!

You've got to check out this behind-the-scenes teaser for a fan film called The Akira Project, which is based on the classic manga series and anime film. A couple months ago we posted a teaser trailer for the short that you can check out here if you missed it. The stuff that they have showed off so far has been pretty impressive, and I'm excited to see the finished product. The filmmakers are still working on it, and they could use a little help to finish it. So if you like what you see and you want to contribute anything, click here. A live action film has been in development at Warner Bros. for years, but at this rate it doesn't look like it will happen. At least we have this to look forward too!

David Goyer to Write FANTASTIC VOYAGE for James Cameron

Batman Begins and Man of Steel screenwriter David Goyer is the latest writer to take on the script for the James Cameron remake of the sci-fi film Fantastic Voyage.

The story revolves around a team of five scientists who are shrunk to atomic size, placed in a mini submarine type ship, and injected inside the body of another scientist to save his life by fixing a blood clot. The original 1966 film was set during the Cold War, and the scientist was a defector who was in a coma after an assassination attempt.

This movie has been in development for years, but Cameron and his production team still haven't given up on it. The plan is to use the same 3D technology that the director is using for his Avatar films.

At one point Shawn Levy (Night at the Museum) was almost set to direct the movie, and a couple of the rumored stars included Will Smith and Hugh Jackman. Goyer will re-engineer the script, and develop some that FOX hopes will be a big-budget tent-pole film. It seems like Goyer is the go-to-guy for projects like this.

Disney Releases Apps for STAR WARS Episodes I through VI

I am not sure if you know this, but the subject of Star Wars is very popular at the moment. The world is full of Star Wars fanatics, and the geniuses at Disney have found a way to bring the younger generation up to speed with the rest of us.

You see, Disney doesn’t want anyone coming into Star Wars: Episode VII blind. To make sure this is not the case, they have developed a mobile app called Star Wars Journeys. Available today, for $6.99 you can own the first installment, Star Wars Journeys: The Phantom Menace. Every episode will have its own Journeys app. In each one you will find a three part app that consists of an interactive story, a database where you can access all characters, worlds, and vehicles, and a game that goes along with the episode. This all sounds wonderful for any fan of the series. In an interview with Variety, Andrew Sugerman, executive VP of Disney Publishing Worldwide had this to say about the new app:

We have wanted to create an immersive story telling experience in ways you can’t do in the print format. Qe want to make sure the products are relevant to as wide of an audience as possible. They’re great for children and great for families.”

Variety went on to explain, saying:

"Each version was designed with 20 scenes but can be expanded with new sequences, character breakdowns and additions to the gameplay, should they prove popular with users. The story mode alone is expected to take 45 minutes to an hour to complete."

They have a target audience of 6 to 12 year olds. This is a good thing for the kids that have parents that aren’t into Star Wars, or the kids that have already seen the movies and want a refresher course. However, if you are a fan of Star Wars and you have children who have not experienced the awesomeness of the Saga, it is your obligation to society to watch the movies with your kids. Don’t rob them of the glory that is the Star Wars Universe.

They will be releasing the other apps periodically until December 2015 so that there will be plenty of time to brush up on your Star Wars knowledge. Below you will find a trailer and some screen shots of The Phantom Menace. Enjoy!

If you haven't seen the other photos of the cast and crew eating brunch and Robert Downey Jr. with executive producer Jeremy Latcham, make sure you check them out.

Watch these 4 video interviews with Godzilla director Gareth Edwards. I screened the film yesterday but can't talk about it until May 10th. But I think I can safely say that Edwards was the perfect choice to direct the film. In these four videos (and one posted previously) you really get a sense that he's taking the right approach to the material.

Godzilla fights his way into theaters on May 16th (USA).

Happy Star Wars Day! Thanks to Lucasfilm and StarWars.com we have the first full trailer for their cool looking animated series, Star Wars Rebels. It gives us our best look yet at what's in store for fans with this new series. It looks like it's going to be a lot of fun, and I love the designs for it. Also, according to JediNews Obi-Wan Kenobi will be a character in the series, which is pretty damn cool to hear. They found out the news at a Rebels toy event recently. He's not in the trailer, but it's good to know that he'll be included in the story.

Here's a description of the trailer:

Starring a small band of heroes — Sabine, Kanan, Hera, Ezra, Zeb, and Chopper — Star Wars Rebels is set in a time where the Empire rules through fear and shrouds the galaxy in darkness. This trailer offers many new glimpses at sequences from the show, including the starship Ghost chased by TIE Fighters; young Ezra watching as a Star Destroyer looms overhead; Stormtroopers marching; a zero-g fight between our heroes and Imperials; and Kanan, a secret Jedi, assembling his lightsaber and preparing for battle. It ends, however, with an Imperial officer reporting to the Inquisitor — the Empire’s Jedi hunter, seen and heard here for the first time.

Here's a description of the series:

Star Wars Rebels continues the epic tradition of the legendary Star Wars saga with all-new exciting, action-packed adventures.   It is a dark time in the galaxy, as the evil Galactic Empire tightens its grip of power from world to world.  As the series begins, Imperial forces have occupied a remote planet, ruling with an iron fist and ruining the lives of its people.  The clever and motley crew of the starship Ghost is amongst a select few who are brave enough to stand against the Empire. Together, this ragtag group will face threatening new villains, encounter colorful adversaries, embark on thrilling adventures and become heroes with the power to ignite a rebellion.

The show is scheduled to premiere in the fall as a one-hour special telecast on Disney Channel, it will be followed by a series on Disney XD channels around the world.

Artist James Hance created this amazing illustration that pays tribute to the classic 1980s film The Goonies. I've been watching his progress on this piece on Facebook, and as you can see, the end result is spectacular. If you'd like to buy a print, click here. He's selling it for $15, along with several other pieces of his art. This guy is such an amazingly talented artist.

STAR WARS Inspired Chewbacca Lunch bag

Make your kid the coolest kid in school with this awesome Star Wars Chewbacca lunch bag! Or just be selfish and get one for yourself so you can be the coolest kid at work!

There's a story that during the first Star Wars movie (A New Hope) Chewbacca carried a bag which in the script reportedly contained tools and stuff for fixing the Falcon, but in actuality Peter Mayhew kept peanut butter and jelly sandwiches in it.

We got the intel from a Bothan spy, so we're not sure if it's true or not. But it makes a great story, doesn't it?

You, too, can carry your apocryphal PB&J sandwiches around in Chewie's bag. Or, rather, a little bag that looks like Chewie. Nobody will dare try to take your lunch, because they know they'll be faced with a mighty roar if they do.

If you like it and you want to buy one for $10.39, head on over to Think Geek

THE AMAZING SPIDER-MAN 2 - SFX Animation Featurette

The special effects that were created for The Amazing Spider-Man 2 were extraordinary. It was easily the best looking Spider-Man movie that's been made so far and the special effects, and animation used played a huge part in making that possible. One of my favorite parts of the movie was watching Spider-Man swinging around New York City like it was his playground. It made me wish I could be Spider-Man. Imageworks has released a really cool behind the scenes featurette showing us how they brought those scenes to life, among other things. The video is narrated by animation supervisor David Schaub, and for those of you who are into the behind-the-scenes stuff of filmmaking this is definitely a must watch. Thanks to Comingsoon for the embed.

This is some of the most awesome Star Wars art that I've come across in a long time. What makes it so cool is the fact that it was drawn by DC animation producer Bruce Timm. I've never seen this art of his before, but how amazing would it be if we got a Star Wars animated series in the same style as Batman: The Animated Series? Timm really is a talented artist and I love his style. This is the perfect post for Star Wars day.

Twentieth Century Fox has unloaded 23 new character posters for Bryan Singer's X-Men: Days of Future Past. They basically feature every major character that's going to be in the movie. I don't know why they would need so many posters, but I'm sure the only place that you'll be seeing these is on the Internet. The movie hits theaters on May 23rd.

Steven Spielberg's HALO Series Coming to Showtime!

The Steven Spielberg-produced live-action series set in the world of Halo is landing at Showtime. The cable network is close to making a deal with Xbox Entertainment Studios.

Xbox has been developing the series with Spielberg and his Amblin TV production company for over a year. Variety reports that "the company is close to a deal with a pair of showrunners to steer the series adaptation of the expansive bible developed by screenwriter Stuart Beattie, but the deal is not envisioned as a straight-to-series pickup."

Halo is only one of several properties that Xbox hopes to develop for their entertainment service platform. The report explains:

"The deal with Showtime has taken a long time to work out because the sides are charting new territory for a show designed to air on Showtime as well as Xbox, with enhanced interactivity built in for the latter platform. Details are still being hammered out, but sources say the plan is to have episodes bow on Showtime first, followed by the Xbox window."

Here's the official description of the series:

"The Halo television series is a groundbreaking original series based on the award-winning “Halo” franchise. Award-winning filmmaker, director and producer Steven Spielberg will executive produce the live-action TV series, created in partnership with 343 Industries and Amblin Television."

Ridley Scott is also producing a separate Halo project that has been described as a "digital feature." So there's a lot of Halo goodness coming our way! This is all very cool and exciting, but I still want to see a movie.

2 Photos of Brad Pitt in the WWII Movie FURY

Two new photos have been released for director David Ayer's upcoming World War II film, Fury. They feature Brad Pitt and his tank crew, which consists of Shia LaBeouf, Logan Lerman, Michael Pena, Jon Bernthal, and Jason Isaacs. Pitt looks even more hardcore than he looked in Quentin Tarantino's Inglourious Basterds. He looks so much more hardened. In an interview with People Magazine the director talked about Pitt, saying,

"He's playing this badass, hard, tough, intense guy. It's a different kind of role for him."

He then went on to talk about the tank he used in the film, saying,

"I couldn't tell you how much insurance this thing had on it – it was crazy. It actually ended up performing really well. It's like the tank was happy to get out of the barn and run around. These tanks like to run hard. That's what they're built for."

The story is set at the end of World War II, in April 1945. "As the Allies make their final push in the European Theater, a battle-hardened army sergeant named Wardaddy (Pitt) commands a Sherman tank and her five-man crew on a deadly mission behind enemy lines. Outnumbered and outgunned, Wardaddy and his men face overwhelming odds in their heroic attempts to strike at the heart of Nazi Germany."

The movie will be released in theaters on November 14th, 2014.

I guess you're never too young to get into Game of Thrones... But we all know that's not true at all! A series like this could really screw a kid up. I even know some adults that can't take the craziness of this series. Anyway, this fun illustration featuring all the Game of Thrones characters as kids is called King Me, and it comes from Patrick Ballesteros who says:

It's all fun and games until someone gets Kinged! This piece is a tiny tribute to all those fun loving kids in King's Landing. Let's just hope this game isn't anyones last.
