We have several new photos of Jaimie Alexander as Sif in an upcoming episode of Marvel's Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. The episode is called "Yes Men," and this is the episode description:

When Coulson and his team are attacked by Lorelei-a deadly seductress who escaped from Asgard-Thor’s Lady Sif, her longtime nemesis, steps in to try to save them.

The episode is scheduled to air on March 11th on ABC. I hope it turns out to be a good one!

We've got an awesome eye-catching art series featuring portraits of some of our favorite superheroes. They include Batman, Hulk, Superman, Wonder Woman, and Captain America. They were created by Dave Merrell, and I like the over-exaggeration of the characters' builds and features. It's a fun style, and I hope you enjoy them.

Jack Thorne to Write SANDMAN for Joseph Gordon-Levitt

jack-thorne-to-write-sandman-for-joseph-gordon-levitt.jpg

Jack Thorne has been hired by Warner Bros. to write the script for the big screen adaptation of Neil Gaiman's Sandman that Joseph Gorden-Levitt could star in and possibly direct. David Goyer made the initial pitch with a treatment for the film, and he will be a producer on it.

This film has been a long time coming, and I hope that this is the team to actually make it happen. I would love to see Gordon-Levitt star in and direct the movie. He recently directed and starred in the film Don Jon, which was fantastic.

Sandman is a horror and fantasy series that launched DC Comics' Vertigo imprint. It ran for 75 issues beginning in 1989. The story follows the character Morpheus, "the personification of dreams. After being held captive 70 years, Morpheus escapes, gains revenge and rebuilds his crumbling kingdom while trying to adapt to the times."

STREET FIGHTER Bonus Stage Car Insurance Commercial

Ooooh, the joyous Street Fighter bonus stage. When you need a break from fighting the most skilled martial artists from around the world, smash a car... makes sense to me. Picking fights with inanimate objects is the best! The more expensive, the better.

In this Turkish car insurance commercial, Ryu goes full-on bonus stage on a guy’s car. What could possibly prompt such behavior? The guy makes the mistake of not having insurance, and then saying, “Don’t worry, nothing will happen to my car. What could possibly happen?” I believe someone saying that last line is the moment people start dying in horror movies. You brought it on yourself, dude.

3 Directors up for MASTERS OF THE UNIVERSE Movie

Sony Pictures is still looking to get their live-action He-Man and the Masters of the Universe movie into development. Studios have been trying to get this movie made for years, and it looks like they are ready to try again. According to The Wrap, there are three directors who have emerged as frontrunners for the directing gig, those are Mike Cahill (Another Earth, I Origins), Chris McKay (The LEGO Movie editor), and Harald Zwart (The Karate Kid reboot).

Out of the choices here, I think Cahill is the most talented. I had a chance to see his I, Origins at Sundance, and it was simply mind-blowing. I would love to see him tackle something like Masters of the Universe. He would be my choice, but chances are they will go with Zwart because he worked with the studio before on rebooting The Karate Kid, and it made over $359 million worldwide. He also has worked on big budget special effects heavy movies such as Mortal Instruments: City of Bones, which sucked, but it was also a Sony Pictures film.

I really hope whomever they hire has the ability to deliver a movie that He-Man fans can be proud of. I think Cahill could pull it off brilliantly. The most recent draft of the script was written by Terry Rossio, which is kind of scary because he's the guy who wrote Disney's terrible adaptation of The Lone Ranger.

I really want to be excited for this movie, but I'll wait to see who they get to direct it first. I'm just happy that G.I. Joe: Retaliation director Jon M. Chu isn't attached to it anymore. He would have destroyed it.

New Spot for AMC's Revolutionary War Spy Series TURN

Here's a new TV spot for AMC's 1778 Revolutionary War spy series Turn. This looks like it's going to be an incredible new series, and as a history buff, I'm excited to watch it.

Turn is a spy thriller set during the American Revolutionary War. Based on remarkable new research featured in the book “Washington’s Spies,” by Alexander Rose, it tells the untold story of America’s first spies. “Turn” follows Abe Woodhull (Jamie Bell), a farmer living behind enemy lines in British-occupied Long Island, who bands together with a group of childhood friends to form The Culper Ring, an unlikely team of secret agents who would help turn the tide of the war in favor of the Rebels. Their daring efforts also revolutionized the art of espionage, giving birth to modern tradecraft as we know it today, along with all of the moral complexity that entails.

The series pilot was directed by Rupert Wyatt (Rise of the Planet of the Apes), and it will be released sometime in spring of 2014. Thanks to Variety for the embed.

Liam Neeson Joins ENTOURAGE Movie

It looks like Liam Neeson will have a role in the upcoming Entourage movie that's currently in production. The actor was spotted on the LA set of the film shooting a scene with Jeremy Piven, who plays agent Ari Gold.

There's speculation that Neeson will be playing an overly exaggerated version of himself, and apparently he will be driving around in a gold Bentley in the movie. Even if it's just a small cameo, it will be fun to see Neeson in this movie.

Neeson has been keeping himself crazy busy, so it's nice that he found the time to do this. He recently voiced Bad Cop/Good Cop in The LEGO Movie, his next film Non-Stop is about to be released, and after that we will see him in Seth McFarlane's A Million Ways To Die In The West and his crime drama A Walk Among The Tombstones. He's also preparing to star in Martin Scorsese's Silence, and then he'll be back for Taken 3.

Warner Bros. will released Entourage on June 12th, 2015.

The first time I saw Monsieur COK was back in 2009 at the Sundance Film Festival. The animated short film stuck with me, and every once in awhile I would look around online to see if it had been released. I was happy to see that it popped up on Vimeo, so now everyone can see it. I love the unique concept and style of the film. Here's the synopsis:

Mister Cok is the owner of a large bomb factory. Looking for efficiency and profit, he decides to replace his workers by sophisticated robots. The formers stare helplessly at the toil of the robotic labourers. But one of the workers does not accept being discarded so easily...

Adam Sandler, Josh Gad, and Kevin James to Join PIXELS

Adam Sandler has been cast in the Chris Columbus directed film Pixels, and Josh Gad (Frozen) and Kevin James (Grown Ups) are also in talks to join the production. Jennifer Aniston is also wanted for the female lead, but scheduling conflicts may keep her from doing it.

Pixels was a short film that blew up online back in 2010 and Sony quickly snatched up the rights to it, so they could develop it into a feature film. The short depicted several classic 1980s video game characters attacking New York City.

It was previously reported that the studio was looking to turn the movie into a "Ghostbusters-style action comedy in which characters come out of a video game to wreak havoc in the real world." There's no word on who the actors will be playing in the story, but it's sure to be a fun flick!

The director of the short, Patrick Jean, is executive producing alongside Happy Madison Productions producers Sandler and Jack Giarraputo.

SIN CITY 2 - First Look at Joseph Gordon-Levitt, Jessica Alba, and Mickey Rourke

This is our first look at Robert Rodriguez and Frank Miller's Sin City: A Dame To Kill For. The images feature Joseph Gordon-Levitt as Johnny, Mickey Rourke as Marv, and Jessica Alba as Nancy Callahan. When talking about the character Nancy, Rodriguez told EW, “You see a little girl in that first film. By the end of this, she’s the avenging angel.” Even though Nancy is still dancing at Kadie’s, Miller explains, “She is sick of being treated — as she puts it — ‘as a piece of ass.’” Well then, maybe she shouldn't work in a place like that.

Sin City: A Dame to Kill For weaves together two of Frank Miller’s classic stories with new tales in which the town’s most hard boiled citizens cross paths with some of its more repulsive inhabitants. In Sin City: A Dame to Kill For, Dwight is hunted down by the only woman he ever loved, Ava Lord, and then watches his life go straight to hell. Chronologically, this story takes place prior to “The Big Fat Kill” (featured in the film Frank Miller’s Sin City) and explains how Dwight came to have a dramatically different face.

The movie is set to be released on August 2nd, and I'm sure it will at least be just as good as the first movie was.

Turtle Power by Matt Feguson

Artist Matt Ferguson has an incredible knack for silhouettes and cityscapes. We’ve featured countless creations from Feguson over the years, but a couple of his recent pieces really attest to those two strengths — his Doctor Who Silhouette Art Series and Batwing Poster

This new poster, titled "Turtle Power," also puts those skills on display. To me, the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles and Shredder are more backlit than in silhouette (though some would argue that those are the same thing).

The piece is part of the joint art show, “INFLUENCES,” which Ferguson is doing with Marko Manev. The show opens February 28th, 2014 at Bottleneck Gallery.

Hugh Jackman on Wolverine's Role in X-MEN: DAYS OF FUTURE PAST

In a recent interview with Den of Geek, Hugh Jackman shed some more light on Wolverine's role in X-Men: Days of Future Past. Some of the things he discussed were the personal stakes for Wolverine, his relationship with a younger Xavier, and how this X-Men movie connects with The Wolverine.

When it comes to Logan's personal stakes in the story Jackman says:

"For all the X-Men, including my character, everything's at stake. I'd say the danger levels are the highest they've ever been in this movie. It's certainly the greatest threat or villain they've faced. So for everyone involved, the stakes couldn't be higher. It's as dangerous as it gets for all of them.

"This is a continuation of the franchise, so in a way we're combining two X-Men worlds. I don't know how much you've been told... I don't know how much there's been mentioned of the timeline... So when it starts, Wolverine's very much part of the group, and I know that's not always been the case."

Here he talks about Logan's relationship with Charles Xavier how his interaction with the young version of the character effects things:

"Because Wolverine really went under a massive change by missing Professor Xavier. He was pretty lost. He was on his own, and pretty rudderless, really. He was wandering around with a lot of unanswered questions, a lot of anger. That guidance really changes him and helps him grow. So it's such a great concept, this idea that you can send your mind back to your younger body, the idea that you can go back not only for yourself, but with the benefit of wisdom, knowing what a person's going to become.

You go back and find a younger Charles Xavier, perhaps, in a more vulnerable place, a slightly less wise place, a difficult place where I can play the role for him that he would later play for me. It's poignant, and beautifully brought out in the script."

Next he explains Logan's dynamic with Ian McKellan's Magneto:

We're brought together by a greater calamity than our own differences. But the animosity's still there, and we're certainly playing off of it - not between me and Ian at all, but between the characters. I think that's fun. Just because we're in the same family now, it doesn't mean we get on together. But when you have to unite against a greater foe, you're forced to come together.

What's always been great about X-Men is that it's not all happy endings or peace, love and understanding. Even when they're together, people are grumpy with each other, they fight, they bicker and disagree. They have faults and shortcomings. I think that's what Bryan always envisioned, and thought out really well.

Finally he discusses how The Wolverine connects with Days Of Future Past:

It does actually come together very well. There is a link, and it has been thought through. All I can say is, The Wolverine follows X-Men 3, so imagine that as two years afterwards. So everything that happened there was fresh for Wolverine. Which is why at the beginning of that movie, he's very much at a loss and disillusioned. So I'll let you put two and two together over how he comes out at the end of that movie.

X-Men: Days of Future Past hits theaters on May 23rd, 2014, and I'm expecting nothing less than amazing. Hopefully Bryan Singer was able to pull this awesomeness off!

Intense New Trailer for BATES MOTEL Season 2

Bates Motel is one of my favorite series on TV right now. If you haven't been watching it, you can check it out on Netflix and try to get caught up before season 2 starts on March 3rd. A&E has released this intense new trailer for the next season in which we'll see Norman descend a little bit further into madness.

Bates Motel gives viewers an intimate portrayal of how Norman Bates’ psyche unravels through his teenage years. Fans will have access to the dark, twisted backstory and learn first hand just how deeply intricate his relationship with his mother, Norma, truly is and how she helped forge the most famous serial killer of them all.

The series has a great cast of actors that includes Vera Farmiga, Freddie Highmore, Max Thieriot, Nicola Peltz, Olivia Cooke, and Nestor Carbonell

WARM BODIES Director to Take on Chess in BROOKLYN CASTLE

Warm Bodies director Jonathan Levine is looking to team back up with his 50/50 screenwriter Will Reiser for a new film called Brooklyn Castle. The movie will be produced by Seth Rogen and Evan Goldberg.

It's based on a documentary directed by Katie Dellamaggiore about "the trials and tribulations of the junior unbeatable champion chess team at I.S. 318. That’s an inner-city junior high school where more than 65% of students come from homes with incomes below the federal poverty level and where budget cuts threaten to derail its chessboard dominance."

Levine is a talented young director, and this seems like a great project for him to develop. I enjoy these types of inspiring films. The doc won the Audience Award at SXSW last year, so it must be a great story.

Here's the description of the doc:

This movie tells the stories of five members of the chess team at a below-the-poverty-line inner city junior high school that has won more national championships than any other in the country. The film follows the challenges these kids face in their personal lives as well as on the chessboard, and is as much about the sting of their losses as it is about the anticipation of their victories. Ironically, the biggest obstacle thrust upon them arises not from other competitors but from recessionary budget cuts to all the extracurricular activities at their school. The kids' dedication to chess magnifies their belief in what is possible for their lives. After all, if they can master the world's most difficult game, what can't they do?

If you're excited to see what the Jonathan Liebesman-directed and Michael Bay-produced Ninja Turtles movie is going to look like, the first trailer for it will be attached to Marvel's Captain America: The Winter Solider. That movie will be released on April 4th, so you won't have to wait much longer. I imagine the trailer will be released online earlier that week, so stay tuned for that.

The news comes from Ninja Turtles producer Galen Walker, who posted the following on Facebook:

"Ok- Cool Beans folks! the new "Ninja Turtles" Teaser will make it's debut in front of the New Captain America Film- April 4th. We are ready and prepared for lift off! Been a long haul."

I'm excited to see what exactly this movie is going to look like. As a long time Ninja Turtle fan I hope they made something totally radical. Ninja Turtles stars Megan Fox, Alan Ritchson, Jeremy Howard, Pete Ploszek, Noel Fisher, Will Arnett, Danny Woodburn, and William Fichtner. It's set to be released in theaters on August 8th, 2014.

It may be that I'm biased and love the movie Blade Runner, but I think this trailer is the best fan-made creation I've seen in a while. Using the music of Kavinsky, whose song "Nightcall" can be heard at the beginning of Drive, and quick cuts, Vanderthrust manages to give an updated feel to a classic piece of science fiction. For you music lovers who may be interested, the song is called "Odd Look"!

First Bill Watterson Comic Since CALVIN & HOBBES and Trailer for STRIPPED

Above you'll find the first comic that artist Bill Watterson has created since he retired Calvin & Hobbes in 1995. It is actually a poster that he created for a documentary film called Stripped. The doc explores the creation of these comic strips and their transition from newspapers to digital. It features interviews with the creators of Garfield, Cathy, For Better or For Worse, The Oatmeal, Penny Arcade, and even Watterson himself, who rarely gives interviews.

Watterson spoke to The Washington Post and explained the poster he did for the movie:

“Given the movie’s title and the fact that there are few things funnier than human nudity, the idea popped into my head largely intact. The film is a big valentine to comics, so I tried to do something really cartoon-y. I had thought of having it colored with off-registered printing dots like newspaper comics, but Dave asked if I’d paint it instead, and I think he made the right call.”

I grew up reading comics in the paper. I loved them! It was one of my favorite things to do, and Calvin & Hobbes was always my favorite. After that ended I kind of just stopped reading comics in the paper. Here's the synopsis for the doc:

STRIPPED is a love-letter to comic strips. It brings together the world’s best cartoonists to talk about the art form they love, and what happens to it as newspapers die. Over 90 interviews were conducted, including the first-ever audio interview withBill Watterson (Calvin & Hobbes), as well as Jim Davis (Garfield), Cathy Guisewite(Cathy), Mort Walker (Beetle Bailey), Mike & Jerry (Penny Arcade), Matt Inman (The Oatmeal), Jeff Keane (The Family Circus), Ryan North (Dinosaur Comics), Lynn Johnston (FBOFW), Zach Weiner (SMBC), Scott Kurtz (PvP), Scott McCloud(Understanding Comics), Richard Thompson (Cul de Sac), Jeph Jacques(Questionable Content), Stephan Pastis (Pearls Before Swine), Bill Amend (Foxtrot), Kate Beaton (Hark! A Vagrant) and more. STRIPPED sits down with these creators to talk about how cartooning works, why it’s so loved, and how they’re navigating this dicey period between print and digital options…when neither path works perfectly.

Stripped hits iTunes on April 1st. What was your favorite comic strip growing up?
