Here's a new TV spot from Michael Bay's Pain and Gain, which stars Mark Wahlberg and Dwayne Johnson. The film is loosely based on a true story that follows a group of bodybuilders who engaged in a campaign of kidnapping, extortion, and murder in Florida. The spot is loaded with new footage from the great looking movie. I'm looking forward to this, and it could be one of Bay's better films. Here's the synopsis,

Based on the unbelievable true story of three personal trainers in 1990s Miami who, in pursuit of the American Dream, get caught up in a criminal enterprise that goes horribly wrong. Ed Harris, Tony Shalhoub, Rob Corddry, Rebel Wilson and Bar Paly also star. The film is based on magazine articles by Pete Collins, with a screenplay by Christopher Markus & Stephen McFeely and produced by Donald DeLine, Michael Bay and Ian Bryce.

The film also stars Anthony Mackie, Ed Harris, Rob Corddry, Tony Shalhoub, Bar Paly, Rebel Wilson, Ken Jeong, and Yolanthe Cabau and arrives in theaters on April 26th.

Here's a great traditionally animated short film called Puppet that was created by Patrick Smith. The story follows a young man who "fabricates a simple sock puppet, not knowing the abuse the entity will inflict. Through an escalating series of torture, the possessed puppet  takes on the embodiment of fear, chaos, and willful self-destruction." The short has gone through several film festivals, and it's really good so check it out!

Fred Savage to Direct Charlize Theron in LADIES NIGHT

The Wonder Years star turned director Fred Savage is set to direct Charlize Theron in a new comedy called Ladies Night. It was written by Happy Endings scribe David Caspe.

Theron is not only starring in the film but she's producing it as well. The story "centers on a woman who, when confronted with her longtime boyfriend’s inability to commit, decides to have one last night on the town with her girlfriends before uprooting her life and moving to New York."

This seems like a great film for Savage to take on. H's also directed shows such as It's Always Sunny In Philadelphia, Greek, Party Down, Happy Endings, Modern Family, 2 broke Girls, and more. This would end up being his first feature film.

This is the second comedy that Theron has joined recently. She's also set to star in Seth MacFarlane's A Million Ways to Die in the West.

Here's a set of character posters for the home invasion thriller You're Next. It seems like everyone that's seen this film has liked it, so it might end up being something worth checking out. The film was directed by Adam Wingard from a script written by Simon Barrett. The two have previously worked together on films such as A Horrible Way to Die, V/H/S, and the upcoming S-VHS.

The film stars AJ Bowen, Amy Seimetz, Barbara Crampton, Wendy Glenn, Margaret Laney, Rob Moran, Joe Swanberg, Nicholas Tucci, and Ti West. I've also included a few previously released images.

You’re Next is one of the smartest and most terrifying films in years, one that reinvents the genre by putting a fresh twist on home-invasion horror. When a gang of masked, ax-wielding murderers descend upon the Davison family reunion, the hapless victims seem trapped…until an unlikely guest of the family proves to be the most talented killer of all.

The set of posters below come from Bloody DisgustingCollider, and STYD, and the movie is set to be released on August 23rd, 2013. Don't forget to lock your doors!

Thanks to Regal Cinemas we have another great sneak peek at G.I. Joe: Retaliation that offers up even more new footage from the film. In this sequel, the G.I. Joes are not only fighting their mortal enemy, Cobra, they are forced to contend with threats from within the government that jeopardize their very existence. Even though the upcoming zombie action thriller World War Z hardly represents the book that inspired it, it still looks like it could be an entertaining zombie flick. A new trailer has been released for the Brad Pitt film, and it's got a good amount of new footage, including a zombie outbreak on a plane that would be terrifying.

The movie revolves around United Nations employee Gerry Lane (Pitt), who traverses the world in a race against time to stop the Zombie pandemic that is toppling armies and governments and threatening to decimate humanity itself.

Marc Forster directed the movie, and it also stars Mireille Enos, Daniella Kertesz, James Badge Dale, and Matthew Fox. The movie is set to be released on June 21st, 2013. Check out the latest trailer!

Here's a great vintage photo from the set of the original Star Wars featuring George Lucas with an unfinished R2-D2 droid. The photo was taken in 1975 when Lucas made a visit to his production special effects team. One of the things I like about this photo is the fact that it reminds us that R2 was made out of wood, because I never think about that when watching the movies.

Cool Concept Art for Alex Proyas' Dead Project PARADISE LOST

I would have loved to see Alex Proyas be able to make this Paradise Lost movie. It sounded like it was going to be awesome, and now we've got some really cool concept art done for the film that shows us what could have been.

Bradley Cooper (The Hangover) was supposed to play Lucifer in the film, which was to be based on the epic 17th-century poem by John Milton. It would have been an epic-sized movie about good vs. evil, and it tells the story of the war in heaven between archangels Michael and Lucifer, including the latter's role in Adam and Eve's fall from grace. Here's the official synopsis:

Lucifer and Michael, God's greatest archangels, share the bond of extraordinary friendship until God produces his greatest creation: Man. Unable to remain subservient to God if it means bowing down to humanity, Lucifer begins his dark descent and is cast out — only to plot his revenge.

This thing could have been completely badass! It's a shame that it will never happen. Check out the concept art created by artist Brian Matyas.

Here's a few great behind the scenes video footage from Fede Alvarez's Evil Dead movie. It shows just how awkward and fun it can be making a horror movie like this. Before you watch them, I'll just throw out a Spoiler Warning! Because they do show some key scenes. It's still fun to watch though, so check it out if you want!

The movie also stars Jane LevyShiloh FernandezLou Taylor Pucci, Jessica Lucas, and Elizabeth Blackmore. It comes out on April 12th, 2013.

In the much anticipated remake of the 1981 cult-hit horror film, five twenty-something friends become holed up in a remote cabin. Check out this great fan-made poster for Star Wars: Episode VII created in the classic style of Drew Struzan. The print was done by Deviant Artist rampantimaginationA who had this to say,

Based on how I thought the Star Wars characters would look in the new movie. Since at this time I know nothing about who will be cast in the film, I thought it would be cool to create a one sheet showing some of our favorite characters from the Star Wars franchise. I had a blast creating this art.

I can't wait to find out some solid information on what the new Star Wars movie is going to be about, but with J.J. Abrams at the helm, I'm sure it's going to turn out amazing.

STAR TREK INTO DARKNESS - Two New Photos

Here's a couple new photos from Star Trek Into Darkness featuring Kirk, Spock, and Uhura. The photos come from Empire. I've been hearing a lot of complaints online regarding the latest poster for the film which features the characters brandishing guns, just like in these images. The guns don't bug me at all, I know they aren't a Star Trek staple, but this is obviously a different Star Trek vision, and it looks awesome. These characters are on a rouge mission to take down a villain threatening to walk over their cold, dead corpses for cryin' out loud! If they need guns to get the job done then so be it!

The movie finally hits theaters on May 17th!

J.J. Abrams Talks STAR WARS: EPISODE VII

In a recent interview with Empire Magazine director J.J. Abrams finally talks about directing Star Wars: Episode VII, and he basically has more questions than answers. So for those of you hoping to get a little insight into what he's planning, he's still trying to figure it out himself! Here's what he had to say when he was asked about coming from Star Trek and tackling Star Wars:

I don’t know because we’re just getting started. So it’s a great question that I hope I’ll have a good answer to when I know what the answer is. There are infinitely more questions than answers right now, but to me, they’re not that dissimilar. Though I came at these both from very different places, where they both meet is a place of ‘Ooh, that’s really exciting.’ And even though I was never a Star Trek fan, I felt like there was a version of it that would make me excited, that I would think ‘that’s cool, that feels right, I actually would want to see that.

How we were going to get there, what the choices were going to be, who was going to be in it – all of those things I knew would have to be figured out, but it was all based on a foundation of this indescribable, guttural passion for something that could be. It’s a similar feeling that I have with Star Wars. I feel like I can identify a hunger for what I would want to see again and that is an incredibly exciting place to begin a project. The movies, the worlds could not be more different but that feeling that there’s something amazing here is the thing that they share.

He goes on to talk about his first initial reaction when he was asked to direct Star Wars, and how he eased into the director's chair,

My knee-jerk reaction was that I’m in the middle of working on the Star Trek movie and I can’t even consider it. But then time went by and I got further along working on the movie and getting to a place where I had done most of the heavy lifting. So when I met with Kathy Kennedy we just started discussing it and I was able to actually engage in the conversation. I went down to tell Katie, my wife and I said ‘I had just a very interesting conversation with Kathy.’ That was the beginning.

He then reveals that Steven Spielberg knew everything that was going on with the Star Wars franchise all along saying,

I will say that Steven [Spielberg] was very encouraging of Star Wars. It’s funny because I talked to him about it and it turned out he knew all about what was going on.

Al I know is that I'm happy and excited that Abrams is taking on the challenge of making this movie. There were a lot of directors that could have taken it on, but I think he's one of the best choices they could have made. It's going to be awesome to start seeing how this movie turns out.
