Mickey Mouse and Roger Rabbit to Star in THE STOOGE?

It looks like there's a good chance that Mickey Mouse and Roger Rabbit could star in a new Disney/Pixar movie together called The Stooge. Roger Rabbit producer Gary K. Wolf has confirmed that the film has been proposed to Disney as a fully-animated buddy comedy starring Roger Rabbit and Mickey Mouse. The title is the same as the 1952 movie that starred Dean Martin and Jerry Lewis, and here's what Wolf recently told AICN.

The Stooge is a real development proposal for a Disney/Pixar movie.  It has the same title as the Dean Martin and Jerry Lewis film and some of the same plot elements, but it’s not a remake. The storyline in this Stooge is quite different.

This movie, which will be all animated, has nothing to do with the sequel to Who Framed Roger Rabbit. They are totally different concepts and projects.  It’s not a case of making one instead of the other.  In an ideal, rabbit-centric world, Disney will make both.

The Stooge development producer Erik von Wodtke came up with the story and wrote the treatment.  He showed it to me hoping that I would see how special it was and would be interested in coming in on the project.  With that, he did succeed.  I love the idea of  a Mickey Mouse and Roger Rabbit musical buddy comedy.  This is a co-star pairing made in cartoon heaven.  Two iconic cartoon characters playing off one another in a story that has the heart and emotional soul of films like Wall-E and Toy Story. What Disney fan wouldn’t want to see that?

This could be an awesome movie! I'd love to see these two classic characters team up in a comedy. Wolf offered up a few more details on his blog saying,

The movie is called The Stooge. It will be based on the classic Dean Martin and Jerry Lewis movie of the same name. The story has the emotional empathy and sensibilities of Wall-E and Toy Story. It will be a (G) Rated Pixar type animated musical buddy comedy. Mickey takes on the Dean Martin role, Roger, who is already regarded as a comic genius in France, takes the Jerry Lewis part.

The film incorporates five specific locations from the Disneyland park. It also introduces the Toon Train, an exciting and interesting way to travel through Toontown.

The film features real-life people. Walt Disney costars. Orson Wells makes an appearance.

I imagine the locations and real-life people he's talking about will also be animated. He goes on to reveal that meetings are taking place, and writers are being looked at and evaluated. This is some really exciting news. I hope everything goes through, and something really cool comes out of all this!

Mark Hamill Discusses STAR WARS: EPISODE VII

We recently heard that Harrison Ford will be reprising his role as Han Solo in Star Wars: Episode VII, and that Mark Hamill and Carrie Fisher will also most likely be coming back. In an interview with Entertainment Tonight Hamill clarified that no one has officially signed on for the next Star Wars movie, but they are currently in talks with Lucasfilm, so it's only a matter of time before they do! Here's what Hamill had to say,

They're talking to us. George [Lucas] wanted to know whether we'd be interested. He did say that if we didn't want to do it, they wouldn't cast another actor in our parts – they would write us out. … I can tell you right away that we haven't signed any contracts. We're in the stage where they want us to go in and meet with Michael Arndt, who is the writer, and Kathleen Kennedy, who is going to run Lucasfilm. Both have had meetings set that were postponed -- on their end, not mine. They're more busy than I am.

Hamill says he doesn't really know what the next movie will be about, but I think it's safe to say that he knows more than he's allowed to tell us,

I'm assuming, because I haven't talked to the writers, that these movies would be about our offspring -- like my character would be sort of in the Obi-Wan range [as] an influential character. … When I found out [while making the original trilogy] that ultimate good news/bad news joke – the good news is there's a real attractive, hot girl in the universe; the bad news is she's your sister – I thought, 'Well, I'm going to wind up like Sir Alec [Guinness]. I'm going to be a lonely old hermit living out in some kind of desert igloo with a couple of robots.'

In response to the rumors surrounding Harrison Ford coming back, the actor goes on to say that he thinks everyone should come back for the next Star Wars film rather than just one actor, saying...

Another thing I'd want to make sure of is are we going to have the whole gang back? Is Carrie and Harrison and Billy Dee and Tony Daniels, everybody that's around from the original [returning]? I want to make sure that everybody's on board here, rather than just one.

I think the whole cast should be brought back as well, and I'm sure they will be. He then gives his thoughts on the direction he'd like to see the movie go in terms of tone and its use of special effects,

I said to George that I wanted to go back to the way it was, in the sense that ours was much more carefree and lighthearted and humorous – in my opinion, anyway....hope they find the right balance of CGI with practical effects. I love props, I love models, miniatures, matte paintings -- I'm sort of old school. I think if you go too far in the direction of CGI it winds up looking like just a giant a video game, and that's unfortunate. … If they listen to me at all, it'll be, 'Lighten up and go retro with the way it looks.'

I couldn't agree with him more! That's exactly how I would want to see the future Star Wars movies made!

J.J. Abrams is directing the film based on a script by Michael Arndt. Star Wars: Episode VII is scheduled to hit theaters in 2015. Disney and Lucasfilm are planning a new trilogy with a new movie coming every other year, with other stand alone Star Wars film being released in between.

Disney has released a bunch of character posters and ID Cards for Pixar's great looking CG animated prequel Monsters University. The posters give you a look at some familiar younger faces, and some new ones as well.

Mike Wazowski and James P. Sullivan are an inseparable pair, but that wasn’t always the case. From the moment these two mismatched monsters met they couldn’t stand each other. “Monsters University” unlocks the door to how Mike and Sulley overcame their differences and became the best of friends. Screaming with laughter and fun, “Monsters University” is directed by Dan Scanlon (“Cars,” “Mater and the Ghostlight,” “Tracy”) and produced by Kori Rae (“Up,” “The Incredibles,” “Monsters, Inc.”).

The movie hits theaters on June 21st, 2013, and it stars Billy Crystal, John Goodman, Steve Buscemi, Dave Foley, Julia Sweeney, Joel Murray, and Peter Sohn.

Here's another teaser poster for the Sam Raimi and Bruce Campbell produced remake of Evil Dead. This movie looks like it's going to be insane! This new blood red poster claims that it will be the most terrifying movie you will ever experience. I truly hope so, it very well could be! It's been a long time since a movie has truly terrified me, but it's definitely sure to terrify people that aren't desensitized to horror movies like this.

Have you seen the trailers for this movie yet? Because it looks as good and scary as Campbell and Raimi are saying it is. Click here to watch the Green Band trailer and here to watch the awesomely bloody Red-Band.

The movie was directed by Fede Alvarez from a script he wrote with Rodo Sayagues and Diablo Cody. The film stars Jane Levy (Suburgatory) as Mia, the new Ash; Shiloh Fernandez (Deadgirl, Red Riding Hood) as David; Lou Taylor Pucci (Carriers) as Eric; Jessica Lucas (Cloverfield) as Olivia; and Elizabeth Blackmore (Legend of the Seeker) as Natalie.

In the remake of the 1981 cult-hit horror film, five twenty-something friends become holed up in a remote cabin. When they discover a Book of the Dead, they unwittingly summon up dormant demons living in the nearby woods, which possess the youngsters in succession until only one is left intact to fight for survival.

Evil Dead hits theaters on April 12th 2012! I can't wait!!!

Here's four deleted scenes for you to watch that came along with the DVD and Blu-ray release of HBO's Game of Thrones Season 2. There's so much content in George R.R. Martin’s A Song of Ice and Fire book series that there was sure to be a few scenes that ended up on the cutting room floor. It doesn't mean they are bad, they are actually quite good, they just had to be cut for the purpose of time. They're definitely worth checking out while we wait for the third season to return on March 31st!

Awesome Trailer for Russian Meteorite: The Movie

That Russian meteorite that blasted through Russia last week was one of the craziest things that I've ever seen! It completely blew my mind. At first I thought is was one of those fake videos, and I was shocked when I found out it really happened. I can't even imagine what it would have been like in person. It probably would have scared the hell out of me! The footage that was captured was stunning, and filmmaker Nathan Fackrell took that footage and edited it together into an awesome trailer he calls Russian Meteorite: The Movie. It's cut together very well, and it includes the musical score from Inception called "Mind Heist." I'm pretty sure you will enjoy this...

Red-Band Trailer for the Vampire Film KISS OF THE DAMNED

It's always nice to come across a decent looking bloody vampire film that isn't Twilightified. This is the red-band trailer for a solid looking movie called Kiss of the Damned, and it's got the sexy vampire horror vibe, that kind of reminds me a little bit of True Blood. The movie was directed by Xan Cassavetes and stars Heroes' Milo Ventimiglia, Joséphine de La Baume, and Roxane Mesquida.

Beautiful vampire Djuna tries to resist the advances of the handsome, human screenwriter Paolo, but eventually gives in to their passion. When her troublemaker sister Mimi unexpectedly comes to visit, Djuna’s love story is threatened, and the whole vampire community becomes endangered...

The movie doesn't seem to be getting the best word of mouth, but as a fan of horror films I'm intrigued, and I'll be checking it out. It's set to be released on May 3rd, 2013.

Justin Lin to Direct New Action Thriller

$

Warner Bros. has won a bidding war for the rights to an upcoming untitled action thriller novel by Patrick Lee who wrote The Breach. The studio has brought on Justin Lin (Fast Five) to adapt the book for the big screen.

According to Deadline the book is the start of a series that features "an ex-special operative named Sam Dryden. In the character-driven thriller, Dryden runs into a mysterious young girl who is not quite what she seems, and he embarks on a journey to keep her safe from a powerful government agent intent on hunting her down."

I'm actually looking forward to seeing Lin direct a movie that isn't part of the Fast and Furious franchise. There's no word on when he'll get around to making this one. He's still an executive producer on the Highlander reboot, he's developing a movie called Subdivision at Universal, and a film about the L.A. Riots which is set up at Imagine. He's also attached to direct a big screen adaptation of Lone Wolf and Cub, as well as the comic play Chinglish. I'm sure he'll also direct Fast and Furious 7.

Lin has got a lot on his plate, but this new action thriller seems like something that would fit in with his directing style. I'm looking forward to seeing him branch out into other film genres, and it looks like that's what he's doing.

Take a Tour of the World's Largest STAR WARS Collection at Rancho Obi-Wan

I used to be a huge Star Wars collector. There was a time where I would sit outside of stores like Target and Toys R Us the days they got new shipments in to make sure I could get the action figures I was looking to add to my collection. Yes, I'm a geek. I don't do much of that these days because the economy sucks and money is tight.

For those of you who enjoy collecting Star Wars stuff, here's a really cool video that takes us on a tour through the largest Star Wars collection in the world. It's located at Rancho Obi-Wan, a museum dedicated to celebrating the memorabilia and culture of Star Wars fandom. Collector Steve Sansweet gives the tour of his museum that contains over 300,000 collectibles!

Rancho Obi-Wan is located in Northern California just outside of Sonoma, about an hour North of San Francisco. The 9,000 square foot facility reportedly houses "35 years of Star Wars treasures from all over the world, from movie-used props to tubes of toothpaste." Tours cost a staggering $200 for two people but are led by Sansweet himself and last anywhere from 1 to 3 hours depending on how many obscure questions you feel like peppering him with.

Check it out!

Aaron Paul Talks About NEED FOR SPEED Movie

$

Breaking Bad star Aaron Paul is set to star in the big screen adaptation of the hit video game Need for Speed for DreamWorks and producer Steven Spielberg. Act of Valor director Scott Waugh is directing the movie, and it will also star Dominic Cooper, Michael Keaton, and Imogen Poots.

The story follows an underground racecar driver named Tobey Marshall (Paul) who owns a garage that modifies expensive cars to make them faster for racing. Framed and sent to prison when his best friend is murdered during a race, he seeks revenge upon his release. Cooper plays an arrogant car supplier named Dino in the film, and Keaton plays the reclusive, oddball host of the event who invites the best racers from around the world to compete.

The film has also been described as being a "fast-paced, high-octane film rooted in the tradition of the great car culture films of the 70s while being extremely faithful to the spirit of the video game franchise. In Need for Speed, the cars are hot, the racing is intense and the story keeps players at the edge of their seat."

In a recent interview with Empire Paul talked about the film, and explains how he landed the lead role,

[It was] all thanks to Steven Spielberg, because he loves Breaking Bad. It was like, 'Yep, I’m going to give you this.' I was in London when I got the phone call. I think I said, 'Really? Okay. Wow.

That must have been an awesome phone call to get! He goes on to explain that the movie is going to surprise everyone,

Need For Speed is going to surprise everybody. I think a lot of people are thinking it’s going to be this car film, but it’s not that at all. There’s no actual narrative in the game, it’s just superfast cars with the point of view of the driver: his point of view as his car blasts around. And, of course, cops chasing them. It’s just plain make believe, pure imagination – it’s really, truly a blank canvas using really incredible supercars.

From that statement it sounds to me like the video game's point-of-view aspects will be incorporated into the film, which should be cool! I've enjoyed playing the game that this movie is based on, it's got a great cast, a solid director, and I'm excited to see how it turns out!

Head on over to Empire to read about what he said about Breaking Bad

Comic Book Villains Mashed Together with Real Life Villains

$

Here's an interesting series of art that takes real life villains and turns them into comic book villains. The illustrations were created by Brazilian artist Butcher Billy who talked about the series on his blog saying,

If back in the day comics and movies were pretty naive and faced only as pure escapism, today's fiction has to evoke reality to create something truly meaningful... and frightening.

This series is an experiment where a dictator, a psycho, a murderer (sometimes they are the whole package) or even a suspicious figure from real life is mashed with a comics bad guy - strangely related some way or the other with his counterpart.

The depressing thing? Realising that if the comic book supervillains were actually the ones threatening real life, the world wouldn't be such a bad place.

Check out the artwork!

Out of his depth in an unknown world he faces his ultimate nemesis in a life-or-death battle that will leave him forever changed. Pixar Denies TOY STORY 4 Tweet Confirms Film...Don't Believe It Just Yet.

So yesterday Twitter was abuzz over a rogue tweet sent by a Columbian radio executive who claimed Pixar had confirmed that the fabled Toy Story 4 was confirmed as happening. Fans had a mixed response and Pixar denied it but don't let that serve as evidence that another Toy Story isn't on the way. Let's not forget we have Tom Hanks confirming it, and John Lasseter awkwardly squirming when being prompted about it. Keep in mind that this news was reported over a year ago, and now this?! Given the fact that it takes around 2-4 years to create the average film for the franchise I think it's fair to say the film, or at least some big adaptation, is in the works regardless of what Pixar would have us believe.

Josh Duhamel and Dan Fogler Beat the Hell out of Each Other in SCENIC ROUTE Trailer

We've got an interesting trailer for a new thriller called Scenic Route that features Josh Duhamel and Dan Fogler beating the living hell out of each other! It gets pretty brutal. This movie is the directorial debut of commercial directors Kevin and Michael Goetz, and the script comes from The Beaver‘s Kyle Killen. The story follows two life-long friends who head out on a road trip that obviously doesn't end very well. Here's the synopsis,

Mitchell (Josh Duhamel) and Carter (Dan Fogler), life-long friends who have drifted apart, are on a road trip when their old pickup breaks down, leaving them stranded on an isolated desert road. Nobody can pick apart a man like his best friend, and as the relentless elements of the desert grind them down, they start to attack each other’s life decisions with unwavering brutality. As they question who they are and who they could have been, their agitation leads to physical confrontation and ultimately knife-wielding madness, and what begins as an inconvenience becomes a very real life or death struggle.

Scenic Route premieres on March 9th at SXSW 2013. This trailer definitely got me interested, and I'm looking forward to checking it out when I get the chance.

Star Wars + Powerpuff Mashup Webseries - POWER OF THE FORCE GIRLS

Power of The Force Girls is created by artist and animator Lin Zy. GeekTyrant has the first full episode of the webseries to show you. It's clear that a lot of talent and time has been used to create Power of The Force Girls. It really goes beyond the superficial visual elements and intertwines both universes in the story and characters. The animation really stays true to Craig McCracken's style while mixing in Star Wars in unexpected ways.

Zy shares where the idea for the mashup came from:

“The whole concept of the ‘Girls’ began with the idea of mixing two of my favorite universes.” Observes Lin Zy, “I started to wonder what would happen if George Lucas (Star Wars, Indiana Jones) and Craig McCracken (Powerpuff Girls, Dexter’s Labrotory) fell in love and had a baby, creatively-speaking.”
