SMITE: Was I the Last One to Know About This Awesome MOAB Game?

$

About a year ago this time, I finally took the plunge and built my own PC with video production and of course gaming in mind. So it goes without saying that for the last year, I’ve been slowly getting back into PC gaming more and more. Recently I was speaking with an Xbox friend who I game with regularly, about how I wanted some more games to try out on PC. He rattled off a bunch of the games he was playing, and then mentioned Smite. Oh boy, am I ever glad he did.

Now don’t get me wrong, I’ve vaguely heard of this game before. I’ve even seen numerous streams listed on Twitch.tv that mention it, I just never watched those streams or looked into it before. But when my friend gave the game such a glowing review, I just had to check it out. He basically summed it up like this, “It’s like League of Legends, but in third person and tons of fun.” That’s what sold me. You see, I tried out LOL a couple times, but could just never get into it. I hate that overhead view of the game, I need to see the action up close. So after watching a couple Smite videos on YouTube, I decided to go ahead and download the game.

The game centers around mythological gods - some you have heard of and some you haven’t. I’ve always been a fan of Greek mythology, so this game automatically got a huge plus from me. The game was first announced back in 2011, but just started its beta back in late May of 2012. At that time you needed invitations, but as of now you do not.

You form into two teams, with five players to a team. You get to pick your choice of gods, which there are around 30 of. Teams start on opposite sides of the map, and there are basically 3 main paths to get to the other team’s base. But on top of that, there are little passages in-between the paths, which are perfect for you to sneak up on someone and attack.

Your mission is to first take down the enemy team’s towers, which are around midway through the map and are all the way to their base. Then you attack the enemy team’s Phoenix, which there are 3 of and are the first line of defense of the base. Once within the base, you take on the enemy team’s Minotaur which is HUGE. Now while you are in the enemy team’s base, the other team is still spawning there, so it makes things even more difficult.  All of what I just said was in the Conquest mode of the game. But the game has other modes for you to check out, such as Arena or Domination, so you will never get bored.

As for the gods, they all have various powers and skill sets. Some gods have more physical types of powers, which require you to get up close to your enemy and attack them head on. Others are more about the defense side of things, and are perfect for those who want to hang back a little to help guard the towers and base. Then you have the magical types of gods, who use their mystical powers to (for lack of a better term) smite the enemies in their way.

I’m mainly an FPS gamer, so this type of game was definitely a departure from my usual games. But I couldn’t be any happier with it, in fact… I’m surprised the game is free! That’s right F-R-E-E!!! It looks as if they mainly are making money from people choosing to unlock gods early, or other in game transactions.

If you are looking for something new to try out, then head over to their site immediately and play this game.

Anthony Mackie on Playing The Falcon in CAPTAIN AMERICA 2

Not much is known about the role The Falcon will play in Marvel's upcoming sequel Captain America: The Winter Soldier. Anthony Mackie plays the character, and in a recent interview with AICN the actor opens up about the role, and talks more about it than he's ever talked about it before! He starts off by talking about his wings...

I will have wings. I will be able to fly. I will be a superhero and fight people, namely The Winter Soldier.

Mackie went on to talk about researching the character to prep up for playing the part,

It was funny; a lot of the research I found was online. My older brother was a huge comic book buff. So when the news came out online, he called me and just gave me the whole rundown. Luckily, I have a lot of friends who weren’t cool growing up, but who are really cool now, so they read a lot of comic books. So I would just call and ask them, and they would send me all of this stuff online, and I got to read a bunch of the old comic books. It’s fortunate, because it’s a take off the comic book, it’s not the exactly storyline of the comic book.

He's then asked if his character in the movie would include his pet falcon Redwing to which he replied,

Man, I told you I can’t talk…[laughs] This is the first job I got asked to do first, and you’re trying to get me fired first. I have no idea what you’re talking about.

Of course Mackie isn't going to say anything revealing because he would like to keep his job, but I believe that Redwing will be in the film.

This is what I learned about franchises. They can always cast somebody else and say, “Well that last person died,” or just not address it. You see the second movie, and the guy is a different guy than the first, and they're like, “Yep, same dude to me.” "I am very happy to be here." [said in Eddie Murphy's COMING TO AMERICA voice.]

Mackie went on to confirm that the film starts shooting on April 1st, and I'm excited to see how it turns out. I loved the first movie, and I'm sure the sequel will end up being even better.

Chris Evans will be reprising his role as Steve Rogers/Captain America, and Frank Grillo will play Crossbones. Samuel L. Jackson will be back as Fury, Scarlett Johansson as Black Widow and Cobie Smulders as Maria Hill, and Sebastian Stan as Bucky Barnes/The Winter Soldier.

The movie is set to be directed by Anthony and Joe Russo, and is set to hit theaters on April 4th, 2014.

Thank the heavens. Digital Distraction of FlyGirlGamers.com is back. Oh, and Snaps is here as well. On this week's episode we find out that Snaps and I have been playing Halo 4 all wrong. Did you know that there was specializations you could equip and level up? Of course you did. But we didn't and so get a schooling on the different classes.

After the break, we tackle two of the newest pieces of technology soon to be available to gamers. One is the IllumiRoom. A Kinect tech that will allow your TV display to expand past the TV set and on to your walls! The other is the Steam Box console by Valve. We are very excited about one of them. The other is a useless gimmick. Find out what we hate on this week's episode of theMulticast!

Here's a great high resolution version of that new photo recently released featuring Hugh Jackman as The Wolverine. It's crazy how ridiculously ripped the actor got this time for the character. I believe this is the craziest he's ever looked in the role, and I can't wait to watch him tear into some ninja villains! I hope this movie ends up being as awesome as I've built it up in my head. We should be getting a trailer soon!

The Wolverine also stars Will Yun Lee, Khodchenkova, Hiroyuki Sanada, Hal Yamanouchi, Tao Okamoto, Rila Fukushima, and Brian Tee. It's set to hit theaters on July 26th, 2013, and here's the synopsis...

Based on the celebrated comic book arc, this epic action-adventure takes Wolverine, the most iconic character of the X-Men universe, to modern day Japan. Out of his depth in an unknown world he faces his ultimate nemesis in a life-or-death battle that will leave him forever changed. Vulnerable for the first time and pushed to his physical and emotional limits, he confronts not only lethal samurai steel but also his inner struggle against his own immortality, emerging more powerful than we have ever seen him before.

Zack Snyder Making STAR WARS Samurai Movie For Lucasfilm!

$

Here's some awesomely surprising news for you! A rumor just hit the internet that director Zack Snyder (Man of Steel) is developing a Star Wars samurai movie for Lucasfilm! How freakin' cool is that?! Even though we're all anticipating Star Wars: Episode VII, some of you may forget that Lucasfilm and Disney are also developing other Star Wars properties.

The movie that Snyder is working on is set in the same Star Wars universe that we all know and love. Vulture reports that the untitled Jedi epic will loosely be based on Akira Kurosawa’s 1954 classic film, Seven Samurai, with the ronin and katana being replaced by the Force-wielding Jedi knights and their badass lightsabers described in the film as… "an elegant weapon, for a more civilized age."

The movie will most likely be a stand-alone film, and not part of the future episodes that will continue the story of the original saga. An inside says that the film is set sometime after the events in Episode VI, and that Snyder would start production on it after Disney starts on its planned 2015 release of Star Wars: Episode VII.

It actually makes sense that this kind of Seven Samurai Star Wars film would eventually be made. George Lucas himself is a huge fan of it, and said back in 2005 that "it’s a brilliant, brilliant film, and every time I see it I can't believe the magic mixture of a great story and great acting and humour and action and suspense — wonderful cinema. The art of moving pictures is on every frame of this movie." It were these kinds of films that helped inspire him to make Star Wars in the first place.

The film tells the story of a small town in seventeenth-century Japan "that’s routinely pillaged by bandits. Fed up with the annual shakedown, its farmers retain the services of seven masterless samurai to defend their harvest."

One again my excitement for the possibilities of what this could end up being is through the roof! What's funny, is that just yesterday we posted some cool custom made Star Wars Samurai Munny's. There's actually been a lot of Star Wars samurai mash-ups that have been made over the years.

I know Snyder will do an amazing job bringing this film to life visually, but I'd like for someone else to write the script. After Sucker Punch, I never want to see Snyder write another script again. What do you think of him taking on this Star Wars samurai film?!

In case you've heard this rumor that this story is not true here's a comments from the source....

Vulture takes the accuracy of its reports very seriously. And while a piece published in The Hollywood Reporter this evening quotes Snyder's rep as saying that the director "is not involved in any way with the newStar Wars," Vulture stands by its story. This reporter heard through a source very familiar with the situation that Snyder recently flew up to Marin County to meet with Lucasfilm execs about the project. When subsequently reached by Vulture, Snyder's spokesperson would only repeat that he "is" not currently involved. One should note the possible political ramifications here of our original story break: Snyder's last Warner Bros. film, Sucker Punch, lost millions for the studio, and execs there could have become distressed at the idea of him getting involved with another studio's franchise when they have so much at stake with their upcoming Man of Steel and want him available for an immediate sequel.

THE HUNGER GAMES: CATCHING FIRE Teaser Poster and Photos

Lionsgate has released a new teaser poster for The Hunger Games: Catching Fire, as well as a few high resolution photos that we've already seen. The excitement for this movie is building, and so far it seems like fans like what they are seeing. This poster is basically the same as the motion poster that was released a short time back.

THE HUNGER GAMES: CATCHING FIRE begins as Katniss Everdeen has returned home safe after winning the 74th Annual Hunger Games along with fellow tribute Peeta Mellark. Winning means that they must turn around and leave their family and close friends, embarking on a “Victor’s Tour” of the districts. Along the way Katniss senses that a rebellion is simmering, but the Capitol is still very much in control as President Snow prepares the 75th Annual Hunger Games (The Quarter Quell) – a competition that could change Panem forever.

The movie stars Jennifer Lawrence, Josh Hutcherson, Liam Hemsworth, Lenny Kravitz, Elizabeth Banks, Stanley Tucci, Donald Sutherland, Toby Jones, Woody Harrelson, Jena Malone, Philip Seymour Hoffman, Amanda Plummer, Lynn Cohen, Patrick St. Esprit, Meta Golding, Bruno Gunn, Alan Ritchson, E. Roger Mitchell, Maria Howell, Stephanie Leigh Schlund, Sam Claflin, and Jeffrey Wright.

The movie will be released in theaters and IMAX on November 22nd, 2013. I liked the first movie, and fans seem to think this could be better than the first movie. Do you have anything you want to add to the excitement?

Here's another awesome short film called 1942, and it's my favorite film from The Underwater Realm series. It takes place in WWII, and features an incredibly exciting aerial fighter plane sequence.

Each short is set in a different time period, and they take the viewer and characters into the mysterious underwater world of the Atlanteans. Here's a description to get you started...

1942 - As the tide of the second world war begins to turn the forces of twelve nations fight for control of the mediterranean.

Far above, the aviator of the Royal Air Force and Luftwaffe duel for supremacy.

The short was directed by David M Reynolds, and I hope you enjoy it as much as I did!

You might already be familiar with the A30 Gaming Headsets from Astro, but now thanks to their partnership with Ubisoft you can grab one of these Assassins Creed Special Edition headsets to recreate the animus experience in your own home.

There are three different image tags you can pick from (the magnetic plates that contain the images on either side of the headset), and you have your choice of black or white. Each of these will cost you about $209 (w/o shipping and handling) to take home, but hey, if you're in the market for a new headset anyway (ala me) that might not scare you off.

For some additional info on how the included mixamp works as well as some additional features you can view the trailer for the A30 below. You can also view some of the other versions of the headset.

You could always buy this gadget to complete the Assassins Creed transformation, but at least you know the Astro works. That thing, not so much.

New CARRIE Poster Featuring Crazy Mother With Blood-Shot Eyes

A new poster has been released for the Carrie remake featuring Julianne Moore as Carrie's insane mother staring at us with some crazy blood-shot eyes. The movie was also supposed to be released on March 15th, 2013, but was recently pushed back to October 18th, 2013. I'm sure Chloe Moretz is going to be a great in the lead role, but I have a feeling that Moore is going to be absolutely terrifying.

The movie comes from Boys Don't Cry director Kimberly Peirce, and also stars Judy Greer, Portia Doubleday, Alex Russell, Gabriella Wilde, and Ansel Elgort

The quiet suburb of Chamberlain, Maine is home to the deeply religious and conservative Margaret White and her daughter Carrie.  Carrie is a sweet but meek outcast whom Margaret has sheltered from society.  Gym teacher Miss Desjardin tries in vain to protect Carrie from local mean girls led by the popular and haughty Chris Hargenson, but only Chris’ best friend, Sue Snell, regrets their actions. In an effort to make amends, Sue asks her boyfriend, high school heartthrob Tommy Ross, to take Carrie to prom. Pushed to the limit by her peers at the dance, Carrie unleashes telekinetic havoc.

Watch Gary Busey's Insane Explanation of Hobbits

Life with Hobbits on The Shire can be little confusing for some people, but actor Gary Busey clears a lot of things up for us with his extensive knowledge of Middle Earth. The one sided conversation goes to places you really wouldn't expect, like how Hobbits travel in packs of four, and make necklaces out of cockroaches. I want to see more of these "A Moment With Gary Busey" videos! He's basically putting good use to talent his talent of saying crazy and bizarre things, and as you will see the result is magical.

For those of you not able to watch the video here's a transcript thanks to FilmDrunk!

Middle Earth. It’s a land that’s great to visit but you have to know how to get out. One you’ve broken the barrier and crossed the line to Hobbit land. Little hobbits with the pointed ears, not very big, wide underwear but very short, because their legs aren’t long. I don’t know what their male or female apparatuses are like, but you know it’s gotta be working in some way because little hobbits, comin from birth (?). Imagine havin a team of hobbits come with you to clean cockroaches out of a house. They’d be gone in thirty minutes. Those hobbits like to use cockroaches for games. They like to make necklaces out of them. They like to put hairpieces made of out cockroaches – dead – on their head, that way they feel like they’re giving to nature.

Hobbits are special. They can see and hear things we can’t here. Because Middle Earth has a different kind of SPZZZZT spiritual and physical and emotional energy going through it. So the hobbits got one up on us on that. Dog gone hobbits, they’re so cute! Can’t tell the boys from the girls, which must make it exciting for them. You know, just finding out what that apparitus (?) says. Girl or boy. And they travel in packs of four. Because you never know what a hobbit’s going to do, and you know he isn’t going to do it by himself. So he’s got three guys to help him. That’s why they always get things done quickly and effeciently and to a T. They make a point without making it. Because that’s what a hobbit does. If you people out there have had past life regressions and feel like you might have been a hobbit, let me know it! And we’ll speak about hobbitism.

OZ THE GREAT AND POWERFUL - New TV Spot and Character Descriptions

"The Good, The Bad, The Wise, The Wicked"

Disney has released the TV spot for OZ The Great and Powerful that aired during the Golden Globe awards last night. There's not really any new footage, but it's still a fun trailer. We've also got a breakdown of all of the characters from the film for you to read over as well if you're interested.

The movie is set to be released on March 8th, and I'm excited to see what else Sam Raimi has done for this classic fantasy story.

The following info comes from Comingsoon....

OZ (OSCAR DIGGS)
James Franco

"Well, one day I went up in a balloon and the ropes got twisted, so that I couldn't come down again. It went way up above the clouds, so far that a current of air struck it and carried it many, many miles away. For a day and a night I traveled through the air, and on the morning of the second day I awoke and found the balloon floating over a strange and beautiful country." - Oz

Oscar Diggs, aka Oz, is a small-time magician who takes his magic act on the road as part of a traveling circus in the Midwest. A man with dubious ethics, Oz is a handsome, charming charlatan who is skilled at smooth-talking his way out of problems. When he is hurled into the magical Land of Oz, Oscar faces a fight-or-flight dilemma that holds the fate of a kingdom in the balance, forcing him to decide what kind of man he truly is before it is too late.

THEODORA
Mila Kunis

"In the civilized countries I believe there are no witches left, nor wizards, nor sorceresses, nor magicians. But, you see, the Land of Oz has never been civilized, for we are cut off from the rest of the world. Therefore we still have witches and wizards amongst us." - Glinda

Theodora is a beautiful, naïve witch who is protected by her powerful sister Evanora. Theodora only wants peace to come to the Land of Oz and truly believes that a prophesied wizard will arrive someday to restore order.

EVANORA

Rachel Weisz

"One of my greatest fears was the Witches, for while I had no magical powers at all I soon found out that the Witches were really able to do wonderful things." - Oz

A witch to be feared, Evanora is Theodora’s over-protective sister. With her penetrating gaze, she exudes a powerful presence and has positioned herself as the royal advisor and protector of Emerald City.

GLINDA
Michelle Williams

"The Witch of the South. She is the most powerful of all the Witches, and rules over the Quadlings... She is kind to everyone. I have heard that Glinda is a beautiful woman, who knows how to keep young in spite of the many years she has lived." - Soldier

Glinda is a good witch who rules over a peaceful kingdom of simple, kind folk. Beautiful Glinda is not only a compassionate and benevolent witch, but also a fierce protector of her people. Though Glinda sees through Oz’s façade early on, she knows genuine goodness lies within and helps Oz achieve his true destiny.

CHINA GIRL
Joey King (voice)

"But the strangest of all were the people who lived in this queer country. There were milkmaids and shepherdesses, with brightly colored bodices and golden spots all over their gowns; and princesses with most gorgeous frocks of silver and gold and purple; and shepherds dressed in knee breeches with pink and yellow and blue stripes down them, and golden buckles on their shoes; and princes with jeweled crowns upon their heads, wearing ermine robes and satin doublets; and funny clowns in ruffled gowns, with round red spots upon their cheeks and tall, pointed caps. And, strangest of all, these people were all made of china, even to their clothes, and were so small that the tallest of them was no higher than Dorothy's knee."

China Girl is from the village of China Town, where everything, including the inhabitants, is made of china. When destruction befalls her land, the brave, resilient China Girl encounters Oz and they strike up an unlikely friendship.

FINLEY
Zach Braff (voice)

"But if you are going to call the Winged Monkeys we must run away, for they are full of mischief and think it great fun to plague us." - The Queen of the Mice

Finley is a winged monkey that accompanies Oz on his journey. Finley doesn’t have a high opinion of Oscar and lets him know it. Ultimately he becomes a loyal ally and helps Oz discover his true self.

FRANK
Zach Braff

"I do not know where Kansas is, for I have never heard that country mentioned before. But tell me, is it a civilized country?" - Glinda

Frank is Oz’s assistant and right-hand man—he’s the money handler, costume mender and prop wrangler for Oz’s magic act. Frank is put upon and underappreciated but is Oz’s only friend.

KNUCK
Tony Cox

"I am the Guardian of the Gates, and since you demand to see the Great Oz I must take you to his Palace. But first you must put on the spectacles... [I]f you did not wear spectacles the brightness and glory of the Emerald City would blind you. Even those who live in the City must wear spectacles night and day. They are all locked on, for Oz so ordered it when the City was first built, and I have the only key that will unlock them.”- The Guardian of the Gates

Knuck is a dour, unsmiling Munchkin, who, as the Herald of Emerald City, announces all the visitors. Despite his cantankerous demeanor, he is loyal to Glinda and thus reluctantly becomes Oz’s ally.

WINKIES

"The Winkies were very kind to me, and wanted me to rule over them after the Wicked Witch died. I am fond of the Winkies, and if I could get back again to the Country of the West, I should like nothing better than to rule over them forever." - The Tin Woodman

The Winkies are the formidable, spear-carrying, 8-foot tall, uniformed guards of Emerald City under the command of Evanora.

QUADLINGS

"The country of the Quadlings seemed rich and happy. There was field upon field of ripening grain, with well-paved roads running between, and pretty rippling brooks with strong bridges across them. The fences and houses and bridges were all painted bright red, just as they had been painted yellow in the country of the Winkies and blue in the country of the Munchkins. The Quadlings themselves, who were short and fat and looked chubby and good-natured, were dressed all in red, which showed bright against the green grass and the yellowing grain."

The Quadlings are inhabitants of Glinda’s kingdom. They are kind-hearted, simple country folk who are mostly farmers.

MUNCHKINS

While she stood looking eagerly at the strange and beautiful sights, she noticed coming toward her a group of the queerest people she had ever seen. They were not as big as the grown folk she had always been used to; but neither were they very small. In fact, they seemed about as tall as Dorothy, who was a well-grown child for her age, although they were, so far as looks go, many years older.

The Munchkins are giggling, happy little people, who live peaceful lives singing and making pretty clothes. Though they don’t have a care in the world, they are loyal to Glinda and do their best to help her if and when she needs them.

"Oz The Great and Powerful," directed by Sam Raimi, imagines the origins of L. Frank Baum's beloved character, the Wizard of Oz. When Oscar Diggs (James Franco), a small-time circus magician with dubious ethics, is hurled away from dusty Kansas to the vibrant Land of Oz, he thinks he's hit the jackpot—fame and fortune are his for the taking—that is until he meets three witches, Theodora (Mila Kunis), Evanora (Rachel Weisz) and Glinda (Michelle Williams), who are not convinced he is the great wizard everyone's been expecting. Reluctantly drawn into the epic problems facing the Land of Oz and its inhabitants, Oscar must find out who is good and who is evil before it is too late. Putting his magical arts to use through illusion, ingenuity—and even a bit of wizardry—Oscar transforms himself not only into the great and powerful Wizard of Oz but into a better man as well.

Disney Studios has set release dates for several of their upcoming highly anticipated films today, one of which is the highly anticipated alien sci-fi film 1952, which is being developed by Brad Bird and Damon Lindelof. It was also confirmed that George Clooney would star in the film, that it will hit theaters on December 19th, 2014, and that it will be released in 3D. There's not much concrete evidence on what this movie is about, but it has been described as being similar to Close Encounters of the Third Kind.

It was also announced that Captain America: The Winter Solider, Guardians of the Galaxy, and Maleficent would all be released in 3D, which really isn't surprising. Reporting on a movie coming out in 3D isn't really even news anymore because any big film is going to get the 3D treatment these days - it may not be welcome, but it's expected now.

New Details for THOR: THE DARK WORLD From Algrim The Strong

Some more details have emerged from Thor: The Dark World, which is currently still in production under the direction of Alan Taylor. The following information comes from actor Adewale Akinnuoye-Agbaje, who plays the Dark Elf Algrim the Strong and Kurse in the movie. In an interview with MTV he talks about what it's like playing the two characters, and gives us a detailed description of the character while revealing who he will be fighting in the film. He also talks a little bit about another role he might play in the Marvel movie universe. Here's what he had to say...

Thor 2; great movie, great opportunity. I've been a fan of the Marvel Comics and I got a massive opportunity to play two characters in the movie: Algrim and Kurse. You go in thinking, 'Yeah this is great.' But when you get in there, you're like whoa; six hours of makeup, prosthetics, all the physical [stuff]. But honestly, I loved it. It's going to be such an epic. And both of the characters; I have blonde hair, blue eyes, pointed ears, fangs, horns; everything you could want as boy in an action hero movie. It's amazing. The Fighting was really demanding. For instance, Kurse is the one that does all the fighting. It's forty pounds of extra weight and the good thing about it is that it's very flexible and elastic. I have a routine before I put it on: I stretch and do all my pilates. You see this big creature doing pilates, it's great. And then we'd have to go fight. Me and Chris [Hemsworth] go toe-to-toe. It was hardcore. But you don't really get into [these kinds of movies] of you're not ready for that kind of thing. You gotta be mentally fit, physically fit because you're going to shoot a scene ten to fifteen different ways.

He goes on to talk about how he fights in the film and reveals that he also takes on Loki,

[Thor and Kurse] fight differently. Chris has his hammer while Kurse is very animalistic, he's got horns. So I tried to go with that flow. My movements are [basically] like an animal: twisting my body, turning my head, all kinds of things. Kurse is meant to be extremely powerful, nothing can stop him. It's a great ride. There's fights everything in the movie. Loki gets his fair share of fights; [one of which] is between him and I as well. The great thing about Kurse is he is having it with everybody. But yes, Loki has some amazing fights. [Fans] are really gonna be happy with this movie. Everybody gets their little shine. I won't tell you what really happens, but there's some great surprises.

As for what other Marvel movie he might appear in next he explains...

As we speak, [Marvel and I] are talking about [playing in another Marvel movie]. Obviously, Marvel is a great family that I'm happy to be working with. We had a great time on Thor: The Dark World. I loved to continue that relationship. (After Guardians of the Galaxy was brought up) I'm not talking about anything yet, just having a good relationship with Marvel.

The movie is set to be released on November 8th, 2013, and I can only imagine how epic it's going to be! You can watch the video interview below...

Marvel’s “Thor: The Dark World” continues the big-screen adventures of Thor, the Mighty Avenger, as he battles to save Earth and all the Nine Realms from a shadowy enemy that predates the universe itself. ASSASSINS CREED Movie Has A Screenwriter

Ubisoft and New Regency have hired Michael Lesslie to write the script for their big screen adaptation of Assassins Creed. X-Men: First Class star Michael Fassbender is already to set to star in the film, but it has yet to get a director.

I don't know much about the screenwriter, but according to THR he's an acclaimed English playwright, who wrote Prince of Denmark, "which was performed at the National Theatre in 2012. He also has penned a number of short films including last year's Skirt"

Ubisoft will maintain control of key elements of the movie's creative direction, so they will be guiding the writing in the direction they want the story to go. I imagine it will stay close to the story of the video game, which centers on a bartender who is captured by a secret corporation with ties to the Knights Templar, and learns his ancestors were trained assassins. He's sent back in time to retrieve historical artifacts.

If you've played the game, then you know the awesome potential that the film franchise has. It could be such a badass movie, hopefully they don't hire Paul W.S. Anderson to direct it.

Funny Trailer For The Horror Comedy GHOST TEAM ONE

Here's a great trailer for a new horror comedy called Ghost Team One, which is set to premiere at the Slamdance Film Festival later this week. The movie is a parody of the hit Paranormal Activity films, but it actually looks funny, unlike that A Haunted House and Scary Movie 5 crap that's been made.

The movie was directed by Scott Rutheford and Ben Peyser and the story follows two guys making a documentary on the paranormal to impress a girl that believes their house is haunted. It looks like it will be an entertaining flick, unfortunatly it may never hit the big screen because there's no big names attached to it. Here's the synopsis...

In early 2012, filmmaker Billy Chen answered a Craigslist ad looking for someone to document possible paranormal behavior. What he found were two sexually retarded friends scheming to impress a beautiful woman who believed their house was haunted. They were willing to face their darkest fears to get in her pants. She was determined to speak with the dead. No one was prepared for the demon whore they found instead. This film is not for those with weak hearts or strong genitals. Please protect yourself accordingly.

Watch the trailer and let us know what you think! The trailer is NSFW due to language.

THE WALKING DEAD Series Has A New Showrunner and TV Spot

First of all, getting promoted to the position of showrunner on AMC's The Walking Dead series might not be the best career move for anyone. Both Frank Darabont and Glen Mazzara were fired after they were done with the seasons they worked on. Chances are the trend of firing showrunners will continue.

The third showrunner who will be fired from the show will be executive producer Scott Gimple. The man who landed the lucky job is credited with writing five episodes of the series along with the feature film Ghost Rider: Spirit of Vengeance. Really?? We went from the guy who made classic films like The Shawshank Redemption and The Green Mile to the guy wrote wrote Ghost Rider: Spirit of Vengeance? That doesn't seem like a move in the right direction.

Oh well, I guess we'll see what he's really made of. It will be a miracle if he lasts more than one season. The Walking Dead returns to AMC from hiatus on February 10th! Here's the new TV Spot!

GRAN TURISMO 5 - Free 2014 Corvette Stingray Out Tomorrow

Remember last month when Polyphony released a prototype car to test drive for free in Gran Turismo 5? Well, after nearly 500,000 people gave that wicked, little car a spin, the final product is about to be unveiled.

Tomorrow (I assume when the PS Store updates) you will be able to download the uncovered version of the 2014 Corvette Stingray. The demo video below shows off the power of the American car. Only Polyphony would create an almost three minute video with a car just racing around a track to electronic music. Got to love those guys.

Here are some specs from the Playstation Blog:

The Corvette Stingray will produce an estimated 450 horsepower and 450 ft. lbs. of torque, is capable of accelerating from 0-60 in less than four seconds and will achieve more than 1g in cornering grip. It will also be the most fuel-efficient Corvette ever, exceeding the EPA-estimated 26 MPG of the current model.

All you car-porn enthusiasts should be ecstatic. I know I am.
