Every Bruce Wayne Morphed Into One

$

Here's a pretty interesting looking morph of all of the modern actors who have played Bruce Wayne/Batman in live-action movies. I think it's safe to say that Christian Bale, with the most movies under his belt as the Dark Knight, is the definitive live action Bruce Wayne. But every actor that came before him - Adam West, Michael Keaton, Val Kilmer, George Clooney - have their fans and have left their mark on our consciousness of the character in some way. So could this be the perfect Bruce Wayne we're looking at here???

Oddly enough, all the live-action Batman actors rolled into one kind of resembles voice actor Kevin Conroy who over the last two and half decades has spent more time as the Caped Crusader than all other actors combined. Just add a touch of Steve Guttenberg around the eyes and you'll have a match.

Trailer For Elle Fanning's New Film GINGER & ROSA

Ellen Fanning (Super 8, We Bought A Zoo) has become a great young actress, and it looks like she's getting even better. She's actually become a more sought after actress than her older sister Dakota Fanning who's resorted to taking a small part in the Twilight franchise.

A theatrical trailer has been released for her new drama called Ginger & Rosa, which is set in 1960s London. The story centers on two teenage girls whose friendship is tested during the Cold War. The movie also stars Alice Englert, Christina Hendricks, and Annette Bening.

This looks like a solid movie with some great performances. Here's the synopsis:

London,1962. Two teenage girls – GINGER & ROSA – are inseparable. They skip school together, talk about love, religion and politics and dream of lives bigger than their mothers’ domesticity. But the growing threat of nuclear war casts a shadow over their lives. Ginger (Elle Fanning) is drawn to poetry and protest, while Rosa (Alice Englert) shows Ginger how to smoke cigarettes, kiss boys and pray. Both rebel against their mothers: Rosa’s single mum, Anoushka (Jodhi May), and Ginger’s frustrated painter mother, Natalie (Christina Hendricks). Meanwhile, Ginger’s pacifist father, Roland (Alessandro Nivola) seems a romantic, bohemian figure to the girls. He encourages Ginger’s ‘Ban-the-Bomb’ activism, while Rosa starts to take a very different interest in him. As Ginger’s parents fight and fall apart, Ginger finds emotional sanctuary with a gay couple, both named Mark (Timothy Spall and Oliver Platt), and their American friend, the poet Bella (Annette Bening). Finally, as the Cuban Missile Crisis escalates – and it seems the world itself may come to an end – the lifelong friendship of the two girls is shattered. Ginger clutches at one hope; if she can help save the world from extinction, perhaps she too will survive this moment of personal devastation.

The movie gets a limited release on March 15th. Here's the trailer...

New Quad Poster for Arnold Schwarzenegger's THE LAST STAND

$

Lionsgate has released a new quad style poster for Kim Jee-Woon's incredibly fun looking action film The Last Stand, which features Arnold Schwarzenegger kicking all kinds of ass and firing big ass guns. This is the first leading role for the actor in a film since he left office. The movie also stars Forest Whitaker, Johnny Knoxville, Rodrigo Santoro, Jaimie Alexander, Luis Guzmán, Eduardo Noriega, Peter Stormare, Zach Gilford, Genesis Rodriguez, Daniel Henney, and John Patrick Amedori

The movie hits theaters on January 18th, and I can't wait to see it! Click Here to watch the trailer, and here's the synopsis:

After leaving his LAPD narcotics post following a bungled operation that left him wracked with remorse and regret, Sheriff Ray Owens (Schwarzenegger) moved out of Los Angeles and settled into a life fighting what little crime takes place in sleepy border town Sommerton Junction. But that peaceful existence is shattered when Gabriel Cortez (Eduardo Noriega), the most notorious, wanted drug kingpin in the western hemisphere, makes a deadly yet spectacular escape from an FBI prisoner convoy.

With the help of a fierce band of lawless mercenaries led by the icy Burrell (Peter Stormare), Cortez begins racing towards the US-Mexico border at 250 mph in a specially-outfitted Corvette ZR1 with a hostage in tow. Cortez's path: straight through Summerton Junction, where the whole of the U.S. law enforcement, including Agent John Bannister (Forest Whitaker) will have their final opportunity to intercept him before the violent fugitive slips across the border forever.

At first reluctant to become involved, and then counted out because of the perceived ineptitude of his small town force, Owens ultimately rallies his team and takes the matter into his own hands, setting the stage for a classic showdown.

Two Trailers For Paul Walker's VEHICLE 19

Two trailers have been released for Paul Walker's Vehicle 19 giving us our first look at the Mukunda Michael Dewil-directed action thriller. I don't think the movie looks like anything special, but Walker is going out of his way to create roles like this for himself. He not only stars in the film, but he's producing it as well. You never know though, maybe it will be better than it looks.

Synopsis:

A recently paroled man is given the wrong vehicle at a rental company and stumbles upon key evidence in a corruption trial. After being framed by crooked cops, he must circumvent an entire police force in a city he doesn't know if he is to clear his name and get the evidence to the prosecution in time.

There's no release date set for the film yet, but check out the trailer and let us know if it looks like something you'd want to see.

COSMOPOLIS Blu-ray Review

Cosmopolis arrived on Blu-ray thanks to Entertainment One on January 1st. Directed by David Cronenburg the film stars Robert Pattinson, Kevin Durand, Paul Giamatti, Samantha Morton, Sarah Gadon, Mathieu Amalric, and Juliette Binoche. For female fans of Pattinson, don't worry, you get to see a lot of him on screen in very close quarters with many tight shots.

Based on the novel by Don DeLillo, the story follows financial genius Eric Packer (Pattinson) as he traverses the wilds of Manhattan in the comfort of his super-high tech limousine while on a mission to get a haircut. Packer has everything in life, but begins to question his existence. He may have achieved all of his dreams, but he only feels alive when he is having sex and is extremely afraid of death. During the journey, the world financial markets are falling apart. Packer believes it is only a matter of time before the Chinese economy collapses. Much to his disappointment, however, the yuan has proved resilient and he has suffered serious hits against his wealth.

I went into Cosmopolis very excited to see a new David Cronenburg film, and one that was nominated for the Palme d'Or at Cannes. The high-concept film deals with a variety of themes, and at times causes the mind to boggle. The film is a smorgasbord of capitalism, mortality, politics, and more all rolled up nicely into a 109 minute package. This is a definite departure from The Twilight Saga for Pattinson, but that is a great thing in my mind.

The movie is visually stunning, but the best part of the disc to me are the bonus features. Pattinson really stands out whiel he turns in his best work as Eric Packer. The rest of the cast does not have as much screen time, but they are each important and give powerful performances. I especially enjoyed seeing Durand and Giamatti in their respective roles. Cronenburg is not at his best, but I love seeing his unique take on this story. Looking at his past work, I would say that this is my third personal favorite behind A History of Violence and Eastern Promises.

Special Features:

Citizens of Cosmopolis - This is the best part of the disc, and should be mandatory watching for anyone interested in becoming a director. The documentary goes behind-the-scenes of the film's production. Everything is covered from DeLillo's novel to the various messages included in the story. The doc also includes interviews with Cronenburg, cast, crew, and even fans.

Interviews - This section includes interviews with lead cast members, as well as director David Cronenberg, producer Paulo Branco, and producer Martin Katz. Some of the same excerpts used in the documentary are also featured here, which is redundant if you ask me.

3 Actors Up for Drax The Destroyer in GUARDIANS OF THE GALAXY

We've been seeing a lot of news recently for actors up for the role of Peter Quill a.k.a. Star-Lord in James Gunn's Guardians of the Galaxy, but there are other characters in the film that need to be cast. One of those characters is Drax the Destroyer.

CBM claims to have a source close to the production who says that Brian Patrick Wade (The Guardian), former WWE Superstar Dave Bautista (Man With The Iron Fists), and Old Spice guy Isaiah Mustafa are currently up for the part.

Here's a little background info on the character:

A former saxophonist, Arthur Sampson "Art" Douglas and his family were killed by the Titanian Eternal Thanos while driving across the Mojave Desert. Kronos recovered Douglas' astral form and used it to create a superhuman warrior for the purpose of defeating Thanos.

For more detailed information Click Here. I guess any of these actors would work for the part, but I think it'd be cool for Mustafa to get some Marvel movie action.

The source also mentions that John Krasinski (The Office) is also up for the role of Star-Lord. This makes sense as the actor was also previously up for the role of Captain America, so I'm sure Marvel will end up working with him somewhere down the line.

There's no confirmation of any of this casting news, but who would you like to see play Drax the Destroyer?

HANSEL & GRETEL: WITCH HUNTERS - Fun New Red-Band Trailer

Jeremy Renner (Hansel) and Gemma Aterton (Gretel) kick some bloody ass (that doesn't sound right) in this awesome new red-band trailer that Paramount Pictures released for Hansel & Gretel: Witch Hunters. It's not as crazy as the red-band trailer released for Evil Dead last night, but this still looks like it's going to be an entertaining flick.

The story takes place 15 years after the legendary incident at the gingerbread house where the siblings were almost eaten by a witch. This great film concept comes from director Tommy Wirkola, and follows Hansel and Gretel working as bounty hunters, tracking down supernatural witches and destroying them.

The movie also stars Famke Janssen and Peter Stormare, and will be released in theaters on January 25th, 2013. Now check out the new red-band trailer!

Collection of Concept Art for Pixar's Abandoned Project NEWT

Pixar's CG animated film Newt was supposed to be released in theaters last year, but unfortunately the movie was cancelled. The story centered on the world's last two blue-footed newts who, after scientists pair them together for mating, quickly find that they don't exactly get along. Apparently the film's story was too close to another film being made at the time... Rio, which turned out to be bird turd.

It sucks that we'll never see the film hit the light of day, but at least we have some more great concept art from it to share with you. These come from artist Katy Wu

First Action Clip from Arnold Schwarzenegger's THE LAST STAND

South Korean director Kim Jee-woon knows how to make a great action film. With films like The Good, The Bad, The Weird and I Saw the Devil under his belt, it's hard not to think that The Last Stand is going to be a really fun and entertaining action film. If it ends up not being that I'll blame the Hollywood studio system.

The clip features Arnold Schwarzenegger and Johnny Knoxville trapped in a bus under heavy gunfire. Schwarzengger requests cover and makes a run for it!

The movie also stars Forest Whitaker, Rodrigo Santoro, Jaimie Alexander, Luis Guzmán, Eduardo Noriega, Peter Stormare, Zach Gilford, Genesis Rodriguez, DanielHenney, and John Patrick Amedori

The action film hits theaters on January 18th.

J.K. Rowling Rumored To Be Writing A DOCTOR WHO Short Story

BBC announced yesterday that there would be 11 e-short stories to supplement this year's 50th anniversary of Doctor Who. Each story is going to feature a different adventure with a different doctor and penned by a select list of popular children's authors. No authors have been announced as of yet, but i09 makes the guess that author J.K. Rowling will be among those selected to pen a story. If she were to be writing a tale it would only make sense she tackle David Tennant given his huge fandom of the Harry Potter series and appearance in the movies as Barty Crouch Jr.

The official list will start rolling out on BBC's Dr. Who Facebook page this Monday. Will she make the cut? Would you care to see Rowling take on The Doctor?

STAR WARS: EPISODE VII Main Female Character Confirmed?

$

So last night /Film's Peter Sciretta tweeted out some teasing information about the main character in Star Wars Episode VII possibly being a female. This news actually broke over two months ago from an inside source who said,

There are two trilogies planned, all following an original overview by Lucas, which was always planned as a multi generational saga. Movies 10 - 12 are from my understanding about the offspring of the Skywalkers, set many years later with the surviving cast playing much older versions of themselves and featuring a female protagonist named Skywalker. This is something that I understand is being discussed as the latest trilogy may end up being an amalgamation of the two using themes and ideas from both, but still keeping the general story, also allowing for continuity of cast.

Is Peter's tweet confirmation of this news? Or is he just referring to the previous information provided? Either way if it is true then it looks like she will most likely be the daughter of Luke Skywalker.

I don't have an issue with the main character being a female, in fact I think it would be awesome! What do you think about it?

New Trailer for Steven Soderbergh’s SIDE EFFECTS

I really hope that Side Effects isn't really Steven Soderbergh's last film. It looks like a good movie, but not one to end a career on. The thriller stars Rooney Mara, Jude Law, Channing Tatum, and Catherine Zeta-Jones.

Synopsis:

SIDE EFFECTS is a provocative thriller about Emily and Martin (Rooney Mara and Channing Tatum), a successful New York couple whose world unravels when a new drug prescribed by Emily’s psychiatrist (Jude Law)—intended to treat anxiety—has unexpected side effects.

The movie hits theaters on February 8th. Check out the trailer and let us know if you're excited about Soderbergh's supposed last film.

3 Posters For The Sci-Fi Alien Romance Film THE HOST

Three new posters have been released for the sci-fi alien romance film The Host. On the down side, the film is based on a book by Twilight author Stephanie Meyer. On the upside, it was directed by Andrew Niccol (Gattacca), and has a great cast that includes Saoirse Ronan (Hanna), Max Irons, Jake Abel, Diane Kruger, William Hurt, and Frances Fisher. In the end though it still just looks like a mediocre film, and I don't really have any interest in seeing it. And is it just me or do these posters look like perfume magazine ads?

From Stephenie Meyer (author of The Twilight Saga) comes The Host, a love story set in the future, where Earth is occupied by a species who erase the minds of their human hosts, leaving their bodies intact. Melanie Stryder (Saoirse Ronan) is one of the last surviving humans who fights back, risking her life for the people she cares about most – Jared (Max Irons), Ian (Jake Abel), her brother Jamie (Chandler Canterbury) and her Uncle Jeb (William Hurt) – proving that love can conquer all.

The movie is set to be released on March 29th, 2013. To watch the latest trailer for the film Click Here.

Captain Marvel's New Look - Web Exclusive from Bowen Designs

A new look that I completely love by the way. Regal, streamlined, and still sexy without being a bathing suit (i.e. her previous outfit). Don't get me wrong, I didn't hate her old look, but when she took on the Captain Marvel mantle, a change was in order. This statue is the latest web exclusive from Bowen Designs, and it's a real stunner. I love the muted but gorgeous red & blue they used on the costume, and the Avengers symbol base is simple but cool nonetheless. Now, you can pre-order this statue until January 10th, at which time they will stop taking orders for this item. If for some reason they don't have enough orders they have the right to cancel the run, but most times they end up getting enough orders to justify the production process. No deposit is required, but when released in Spring of 2013 she will cost you about $200 (with S&H). If you love the character like I do then you are probably hovering over the pre-order button, just make sure you hit it before January 10th.

Breaking Bad is set to return to AMC this summer! Series star Aaron Paul confirmed via Twitter that the second half of season five is set to return on July 14th. We've got eight more episodes to go before the series ends and we see what Walt's fate is.

Vince Gilligan's Breaking Bad stars Bryan Cranston as Walter White, a high school chemistry teacher in Albuquerque, New Mexio who, after learning that he's dying of lung cancer, begins to secretly cook crystal meth as a means of providing for his family. It eventually turned him into a monster.

I can't wait to see how this story ends! I just can't see Walt having a happy ending though. Can you?

Fun LEGEND OF ZELDA Animated Short - Link's Triumph

Here's a great little animated short film called Link's Triumph. It's based on Link's first big boss fight in the original Legend of Zelda video game. It's been ages since I've played the original game, but after watching this I kind of want to go back and relive that incredible 8-bit adventure! I'll have to dust off the old Nintendo and see if it still works. The short was created by YouTuber shamoozal, and I really liked how it turned out. One of the things I like most about it is that the original manual art for the game was used as the basis for the art direction in the film. Hope you like it!
