George Takei recently released a video trying to unite Star Wars fans and Star Trek fans against the Twilight threat in the ongoing feud between William Shanter and Carrie Fisher on Star Wars vs. Star Trek. Shatner won't have it though, in a new video Shatner fires back at Takei saying that he needs retribution...

No, no, no, George. You're the greatest threat to equanimity and peacefulness. You've carried on a feud for all these years. You can't just dissolve it in a matter of words. Retribution must be paid, George. I need retribution.

Shatner is not ready to give up the battle, so the war goes on. This guy can sure hold a grudge even in moments of fun. At this point I can't tell if he's just having fun or he's dead frekin' serious. Watch the video below and tell us what you think!

Here are all the previous videos leading up to this one...

AMC Developing GOODFELLAS TV Series

Martin Scorsese's classic 1990 mob film Goodfellas is on its way to getting a TV series adaptation. AMC, the network behind the incredible series Mad Men, Breaking Bad and The Walking Dead has started development on a new mob series. Goodfellas is also an adaptation of the non-fiction book Wiseguy. The author of the novel, Nicholas Pileggi, will co-write the series alongside TV writer-producer Jorge Zamacona (Homicide: Life On The Street).

I love the story and film that this series will be based off of, and I think it will make for a pretty awesome show. TV could use another solid mob series. It will be interesting to see who ends up getting cast in it, and how they will develop the story for TV. The story follows the rise and fall of the Lucchese crime family associate Henry Hill, played by Ray Liotta in the film, and his friends from 1955 to 1980.

What do you all think about Goodfellas getting a small screen adaptation?

Here's a description from the book:

"At the age of twelve my ambition was to become a gangster. To be a wiseguy. Being a wiseguy was better than being President of the United States. To be a wiseguy was to own the world." -- Henry Hill

Wiseguy is Nicholas Pileggi's remarkable bestseller, the most intimate account ever printed of life inside the deadly high-stakes world of what some people call the Mafia. Wiseguy is Henry Hill's story, in fascinating, brutal detail, the never-before-revealed day-to-day life of a working mobster -- his violence, his wild spending sprees, his wife, his mistresses, his code of honor.

Henry Hill knows where a lot of bodies are buried, and he turned Federal witness to save his own life. The mob is still hunting him for what he reveals inWiseguy: hundreds of crimes including arson, extortion, hijacking, and the $6 million Lufthansa heist, the biggest successful cash robbery in U.S. history, which led to ten murders. A firsthand account of the secret world of the mob,

Wiseguy is more compelling than any novel.

Jordi Molla to be Cast as Villain in RIDDICK

Yesterday we reported the awesome news that Katee Sackhoff was cast as a nordic mercenary named Dhal who is tracking Riddick. Today we give you the news that Jordi Molla (Columbiana, Knight and Day) is in talks to play the villain in the Chronicles of Riddick sequel.

Molla would take on the role of a character named Santana, described as a mercenary who heads up an eight-man crew tasked with finding and killing Riddick. He may not be as good looking as Sackhoff, but he does have the villainous look.

Here's some previously released information on the film:

Betrayed by his own kind and left for dead on a desolate planet, Riddick (Diesel) fights for survival against alien predators and becomes more powerful and dangerous than ever before. Soon bounty hunters from throughout the galaxy descend on Riddick only to find themselves pawns in his greater scheme for revenge. With his enemies right where he wants them, Riddick unleashes a vicious attack of vengeance before returning to his home planet of Furya to save it from destruction.

Riddick is a direct sequel to Pitch Black – the events tie into that film. In much the same way the upcomingDark Knight Rises will tie up any loose threads and plot points from Batman Begins, Riddick will return to the mystery and monsters at the centre of Pitch Black.

RE5IDENT EVIL: RETRIBUTION - Official Synopsis Revealed

Screen Gems has released an official synopsis for the Paul W.S. Anderson directed film Re5ident Evil: Retribution, and yes, they added a "5" to the title in place of the "S". The film stars Milla Jovovich and Michelle Rodriguez. Here's the full synopsis:

The wildly successful film franchise adaptation that has grossed nearly $700 million worldwide to the popular video game series, "Resident Evil," returns in its highly anticipated fifth installment, "Re5ident Evil: Retribution" in state-of-the art 3D.

The Umbrella Corporation’s deadly T-virus continues to ravage the Earth, transforming the global population into legions of the flesh eating Undead. The human race’s last and only hope, Alice (Milla Jovovich), awakens in the heart of Umbrella's most clandestine operations facility and unveils more of her mysterious past as she delves further into the complex. Without a safe haven, Alice continues to hunt those responsible for the outbreak; a chase that takes her from Tokyo to New York, Washington, D.C. and Moscow, culminating in a mind-blowing revelation that will force her to rethink everything that she once thought to be true. Aided by newfound allies and familiar friends, Alice must fight to survive long enough to escape a hostile world on the brink of oblivion. The countdown has begun.

I've enjoyed watching the Resident Evil films over the years, but the last one that was released in 3D was pretty freakin' awful. I really hope this this movie isn't going to be as bad. All I ask is to be entertained. I can't wait to see what this "mind-blowing" revelation is though!

The movie hits theaters on September 14th, 2012, and also stars Sienna Guillory, Kevin Durand, Shawn Roberts, Colin Salmon, Johann Urb, Boris Kodjoe, and Li Bingbing.

Are you excited about this new Resident Evil movie?

RED TAILS - 7-Minute Clip Arrives Online

Here is a 7-Minute film clip for George Lucas' Red Tails. Anthony Hemingway directed the high-flying action epic that was inspired by the heroic exploits of the first all African-American aerial combat unit. The ensemble cast includes: Cuba Gooding Jr., Terrence Howard, Bryan Cranston, Nate Parker, David Oyelowo, Tristan Wilds, Cliff Smith aka Method Man, Kevin Phillips, Rick Otto, Lee Tergesen, Andre Royo, Ne-Yo, Elijah Kelley, Marcus T. Paulk, Leslie Odom Jr., Michael B. Jordan and Daniela Ruah.

Here's a Detailed Plot Synopsis:

1944. World War II rages and the fate of the free world hangs in the balance. Meanwhile the black pilots of the experimental Tuskegee training program are courageously waging two wars at once — one against enemies overseas, and the other against discrimination within the military and back home. Racial prejudices have long held ace airman Martin “Easy” Julian (Nate Parker) and his black pilots back at base — leaving them with little to do but further hone their flying skills — while their white counterparts are shipped out to combat after a mere three months of training. Mistakenly deemed inferior and assigned only second-rate planes and missions, the pilots of Tuskegee have mastered the skies with ease but have not been granted the opportunity to truly spread their wings. Until now.

As the war in Europe continues to take its dire toll on Allied forces, Pentagon brass has no recourse but to reconsider these under-utilized pilots for combat duty. Just as the young Tuskegee men are on the brink of being shut down and shipped back home, Col. A.J. Bullard (Terrence Howard) awards them the ultimate chance to prove their mettle high above. Undaunted by the prospect of providing safe escort to bombers in broad daylight — a mission so dangerous that the RAF has refused it and the white fighter groups have sustained substantial losses — Easy’s pilots at last join the fiery aerial fray. Against all the odds, with something to prove and everything to lose, these intrepid young airmen take to the skies in a heroic endeavor to combat the enemy — and the discrimination that has kept them down for so long.

Red Tails arrives on January 20, 2012. Check out the trailer below and tell us what you think!

Universal Pictures Celebrates 100 Years of Movie Magic

Universal Pictures is poised for a busy 2012! It is embarking on an ambitious film restoration effort and will be releasing a slew of new special edition Blu-rays. The studio is kicking things off with the release of a new logo to commemorate their 100th Anniversary and will be holding special celebrations at their theme parks this year. Their mantra for this celebration is to make the old seem new again. The studio will be completely restoring 13 films--ranging from 1930′s All Quiet On The Western Front to 1993′s Schindler’s List.

Other films included are as follows: Both 1931 versions of Dracula, Frankenstein (1931),  The Bride of Frankenstein (1935), Abbott and Costello’s Buck Privates (1941), Pillow Talk (1959), To Kill A Mockingbird (1962), The Birds (1963), The Sting (1973), Jaws (1975) and Out of Africa (1985). If you are counting, that is only 12 films. The studio is doing 13 films, and is restoring both 1931 versions of Dracula including Bela Lugosi’s famous English-language picture and the Spanish version that was filmed on the same sets at night.

Here is what Universal President and COO Ron Meyer had to say in an interview with Deadline:
“One hundred years is such a great milestone. I am a movie lover. It’s such an important part of the American culture, a part of the heritage of this country. I think we have a responsibility  to our employees, to the public to celebrate not just a milestone but celebrate the movie business, and this gives us a reason to do it."
Here is what Meyer said about Pillow Talk:
“What a great movie. I have four children who don’t know these movies. They don’t know a Doris Day movie or Rock Hudson movies. And they are going to enjoy them when they see them. Once they see it they can appreciate it. There’s no way for even 30-year olds to know some of those movies unless they are film buffs,” he said.
A list of 100 notable films were chosen and then cut down to 13. According to Michael Daruty, SVP Technical Operations each film takes up to six months and is very expensive costing anywhere from $250,000 to $600,000 a title. Plans are being drawn up to tour the films as well and the blueprint is to accelerate restorations in the future.

Meyer shared his thoughts on restoration plans for the future:
“I would like all of our films to be restored and hopefully as the years go on more and more of them will be done. I think we need to do more film restoration, all of us need to do it. I think it is an important part of our initiatives. It’s an expensive process and a time consuming one and they have been totally on board in support of us doing this and encouraging doing it.”

Joe Carnahan Talks NARC and A-TEAM Sequels

Director Joe Carnahan and Liam Neeson gave an update on the possibility of an A-Team sequel while doing press for The Grey. If you were looking forward to seeing a sequel to the film, don't hold your breath. Apparently, Fox is not willing to finance a sequel after their losses on the original. Here is what Neeson had to say about the chances:
“A-Team [2], I don’t think so. I don’t think it made enough money. The studio don’t want [it]“, Neeson, who took on the ol’ George Peppard role of Hannibal Smith for the movie said.
Carnahan added:
“as much fun as I had making that movie, I don’t want to get tied up in that whole world of sequels and franchises. There’s too many movies I want to make. There’s too many other stories I want to tell. The good thing that came out of A-Team not being successful is that I would never have made The Grey, I’d be working on A-Team 2 right now. And that would have been a bigger bummer to me.”
Carnahan then went on to talk about a possible sequel to Narc. The 2002 film told the story of corrupt police involved in the illegal drug trade. Carnahan has reportedly pitched the idea to Ray Liotta, who would reprise his role as Lt. Henry Oak.
“I was talking to Ray Liotta the other night about a Narc sequel,” Carnahan reveals. “I told him the opening…if I could do that movie for like ten million bucks and not be bothered and be left to do my thing I would do it in a second. Creative control means more to me than having my name on a big-budget thing.”
I am interested in seeing a sequel to Narc, so that is cool news. It is unfortunate that The A-Team will not have a sequel; I really had a lot of fun seeing the TV characters on the big screen. At least we get to see Neeson in The Grey and soon in Taken 2. What are your thoughts on this news?

I'm very excited about seeing Steven Soderbergh's new action film Haywire. Tobe Hooper's Horror Film DJINN Gets a 4-Minute Trailer

Texas Chainsaw Massacre director Tober Hooper is in the process of finishing up his new Arabian supernatural horror film project Djinn. Hooper hasn't really made a decent film since Poltergeist, and as most of you know he didn't "really" direct that movie.

Djinn is a haunted house thriller that follows a "young Emirati couple who return home from the U.S. and discover that their new apartment in a luxury high-rise built on the site of an abandoned fishing village is also home to malevolent beings known as Djinn."

The trailer comes from Bloody-Disgusting, and unfortunately, it doesn't really look that good. Watch the trailer and tell us what you think.

Lindsay Lohan May Play Elizabeth Taylor in Lifetime Movie

Lindsay Lohan may portray Elizabeth Taylor in an upcoming Lifetime movie. Deadline reports that Lohan is in early talks for the female lead in Elizabeth & Richard: A Love Story. The film will focus on the "enduring love of movie icons Taylor and Richard Burton, whose fiery romance was the most notorious, publicized and celebrated love affair of its day."

Larry Thompson (Amish Grace) is set to produce the film based on a script penned by Christopher Monger (Temple Grandin). The movie was first announced as part as Lifetime’s 2011-12 development slate. Lohan most recently starred in Machete and Labor Pains and had an arc on ABC’s Ugly Betty.

Not only do Lohan and Taylor look alike, they have some other similarities according to a 2004 Slate story: “Both had domineering stage mothers, little semblance of a real childhood, fame from a young age, substance abuse issues, public emotional outpourings, and copious amounts of tabloid drama. The key difference, though, is that Elizabeth Taylor had a true record of achievement before she became the most notorious movie star in America.”

I am not a huge fan of Lohan, although Mean Girls and Freaky Friday are pretty good. I hope that she gets her life together with this role. What are your thoughts on this news?

THE HUNGER GAMES - New Image Featuring Katniss and Peeta

We only have to wait a couple more months before The Hungers Games is unleashed on the world, and Lionsgate has released this new image from the film featuring Katniss (Jennifer Lawrence) and Peeta (Josh Hutcherson) sporting their District 12 training outfits. I think these training suit designs are pretty damn cool; I'd wear them around.

Here's the synopsis for the film:

Every year in the ruins of what was once North America, the evil Capitol of the nation of Panem forces each of its twelve districts to send a teenage boy and girl to compete in the Hunger Games. A twisted punishment for a past uprising and an ongoing government intimidation tactic, The Hunger Games are a nationally televised event in which "Tributes" must fight with one another until one survivor remains.

Pitted against highly-trained Tributes who have prepared for these Games their entire lives, Katniss is forced to rely upon her sharp instincts as well as the mentorship of drunken former victor Haymitch Abernathy. If she's ever to return home to District 12, Katniss must make impossible choices in the arena that weigh survival against humanity and life against love.

The ensemble cast also includes Liam HemsworthWes BentleyStanley TucciWoody HarrelsonLenny KravitzToby JonesDonald Sutherland and many more and is scheduled for release on March 23, 2012.

If you're looking forward to attending San Diego Comic-Com this year like the rest of us geeks then you're going to have to pre-register to actually register to get a ticket to the uber-geek convention of greatness. It looks like they are trying some kind of weeding out process where only the hardest-core of hardcore geeks will end up attending, and it will cut back on people trying to buy multiple passes. Trying to get tickets to Comic-Con has always been insane--trying to get a hotel room has been worse. Hopefully they find a better way to do that this year as well.

This year Comic-Con will take place earlier than normal, July 12th - 15th. Now just because you pre-register to register doesn't mean you are actually going to get passes when they eventually go on sale, which date has yet to be announced, but four day passes with preview night already sold out at Comic-Con last year. It's amazing how fast these tickets are snatched up.

Basically, you will need a Member ID to actually buy your passes. Click Here to sign up for your member ID. There are some additional instructions for people going as press or professionals, so Click Here for more information on what is going on.

Here's a video that was uploaded to help walk you though the process. So get your pre-registration taken care of if you're planning to go this year, and we'll see you there!

THOR 2 to Get Rewrite From SAVING PRIVATE RYAN Scribe

Here's a quick little news update on the production of Marvel's Thor 2. Marvel Studios has hired Saving Private Ryan scribe Robert Rodat to take a crack at rewriting the script for Thor 2, which is being directed by Alan Taylor (Game of Thrones).

The movie is set to go into production this year, and Disney plans to release it in the summer of 2013. There aren't many details on this highly anticipated comic book sequel yet, but we know it will dive more into the mythology of the nine realms. They definitely got a great screenwriter to work on the script.

Most of the orignal cast from the first film is expected to reprise their roles.
