30 Screenshots From the First Trailer for STAR WARS: THE LAST JEDI

Earlier today the first trailer premiered for Star Wars: The Last Jedi. I’ve been watching this trailer over and over again since it was released and every time I watch it, the more excited I get about the movie. I imagine it’ll be awhile before we seen a new trailer, so this is what we’ve got to make us happy over the next few months.

I’ve gone through the trailer frame-by-frame and have taken thirty screenshots for you to go through to enjoy and dissect. There are definitely a lot of questions that the trailers bring up. Questions that probably won’t be answered until the movie comes out!

It's hard to even speculate what some of the things presented in this trailer mean. Rey is obviously going through some Jedi training with Luke and it's not easy for her. We see Leia looking at a map of the galaxy, possibly the map the leads to Luke. There's a shot of Kylo Ren's helmet that has been smashed to pieces; a shot featuring some, what I assume is Jedi scripture; Poes awesome Black X-Wing gets blown up; Rey running into action with her Lightsaber; and then there's Luke saying ti's time for the Jedi to end!? What!?!?!

Do you see anything cool in the trailer that is worth pointing out that fans may have missed?

Details Revealed on a New Planet Being Introduced in STAR WARS: THE LAST JEDI

Earlier today the first trailer was released for Star Wars: The Last Jedi and that trailer featured a planet location that we've never seen before. The scene it debuted in showed a bunch of ships flying in and kicking up blood red dust. It was an extremely cool visual!

Thanks to director Ryan Johnson, we now know what the name of the planet is and he also offers up some new details on how it plays into the story. The name of the planet is this world is Crait and the director explains:

"It’s way out there. It’s very remote. It’s uncharted. It’s a mineral planet and so there are mines on it."

Johnson goes on to say that there are some “beautiful design elements and I hope some really unique ones that we’re able to bring into it." As for the red dust that the speeders are kicking up, that's underneath a "white dusting of salt over this red, ruby-ish mineral base."

Crait is also the site of "an old rebel base there that’s now abandoned." It was one of the first things that Johnson came up with when he started planning his story for The Last Jedi and he reveals that “It ends up playing a key role in the movie" and that the Resistance fighters who flying the ships in the trailer "show up where they have to deal with a very pressing and immediate threat."

Of course, he wouldn't reveal what the threat was, but it looks like this is going to end up being a really cool scene worth looking forward to.

Kevin Hart has been tapped to lead a film about adults attending night classes in order to get their G.E.D. in a comedy titled Night School. This new film is coming from the same people behind Ride Along and Think Like A Man, so if you were a fan of either of those, you'll likely be a fan of this one!

As for the next time you'll see Kevin on screen, he's set to appear in the reboot for Jumanji which is supposed to release this December. I'm hit and miss on Kevin Hart comedies, but I think that's mostly because he does so many movies a year! What's your take on his films?

Vin Diesel Was Furious About a Secret Scene Shot For FATE OF THE FURIOUS and it Was Cut From the Film

The Fate of the Furious was released in theaters today and if you're a fan of the franchise, it's definitely a chapter of the franchise that you don't want to miss. This movie is an insanely fun time! In case you missed it, you can watch our video review for the film here.

According to The Wrap, there was a scene shot for the film without Vin Diesel knowing that involved a spinoff film that would revolve around Dwayne Johnson's Hobbes and Jason Statham‘s character, Deckard. The two are forced to work together in the film and they end up having a lot of great scenes together.

According to the report, the "tag" scene was included in early screenings from the film and it was supposed to set up the Hobbes and Deckard spinoff film. So how did all of this go down?

Producer Neal Moritz reportedly greenlit without Diesel’s knowledge. Diesel's sister Samantha Vincent, who is an executive producer on the movie, found out about the scene told Diesel and according to insiders, "he became enraged."

Diesel called the studio in a furious mood to "explosively air his grievances" so the studio had all the theatrical prints recalled and ended up cutting the scene.

Another insider put it more diplomatically, saying that the sequence was initially shot as bonus content for home entertainment release. When studio executives and filmmakers reviewed the sequence that included Johnson and Statham,  they “loved it,” but ultimately decided not to include it in the theatrical release because “the sequence would make for a better opportunity somewhere else,” the insider said.

This is some interesting Hollywood drama! As you know Johnson expressed his frustrations about some behind the scenes drama last year saying:

"Some conduct themselves as stand-up men and true professionals, while others don’t. The ones that don’t are too chicken s— to do anything about it anyway. Candy asses. When you watch this movie next April and it seems like I’m not acting in some of these scenes and my blood is legit boiling — you’re right."

There were obviously some crazy things going on during the production of the film. I think it's interesting that they shot this extra footage and no one thought Diesel would notice? Weird. Anyway, I think a Hobbes and Deckard spinoff film would be awesome! If the studio ends up making it, I'll show up to watch it. This is just a crazy action-packed franchise that's fun to watch.

Kathleen Kennedy Confirms That Carrie Fisher Will Not Appear in STAR WARS: EPISODE IX

Last week Carrie Fisher's brother, Todd FIsher, said that Carrie would appear in Star Wars: Episode IX. He and Carrie's daughter Billie Lourd thought:

"Yes, how do you take her out of it?’ And the answer is, you don't. I’m not the only part in that equation, but I think the people deserve to have her. She's owned by them."

Well, it seems like Lucasfilm will be taking Episode IX in a different direction than what Todd thought because Lucasfilm President Kathleen Kennedy confirmed that Carrie will not be in Star Wars: Episode IX. She told ABC in an interview:

"Sadly, Carrie will not be in Nine. But we will see a lot of Carrie in Eight."

At least Carrie's Estate would have allowed it if that's how Lucasfilm decided to proceed. It's understandable that they wouldn't include her because she didn't shoot any footage for the film before she passed.

From what we've heard, she would have has a much bigger role in Episode IX than what she had in The Last Jedi. I have no idea if we'll ever learn what her story arc would have been, but I'm sure that director Colin Trevorrow and his team will give us the best film possible.

Hellboy's got his own whiskey! XXX Distillery and Prestige Imports have teamed up with Dark Horse Comics to deliver Hellboy Hell Water cinnamon whiskey to the fans that like the hard stuff. I know it's not the third film in the film trilogy that we've all been hoping for, but it's still pretty cool.

Hellboy Hell Water is small batch naturally flavored cinnamon whiskey. It is micro-distilled, hand bottled and styled in the old traditional process of making Southern Corn Whiskey. Old fashioned corn whiskey uses only the finest corn, natural ingredients, spring water, glassware and craftsmanship.

The Hell Water whiskey is 66.6 proof and it's set to be released on April 14th and will cost around $19.99 per bottle.

Morgan Freeman Explains Why THE SHAWSHANK REDEMPTION Tanked at The Box Office

When Frank Darabont's The Shawshank Redemption was released in theaters back in 1994, the movie was turned out to be a big box office flop. It only brought in $28 million, which is so strange considering the film is now a classic. It's one of my favorite films of all time, but hardly anyone went and saw the damn thing when it was in theaters!

While talking about the film on The Graham Norton Show, actor Morgan Freeman offered his thoughts on why he thought the movie bombed in theaters and he blamed it all the title:

"Tanked at the box office. And the reason for that, of course, is that... the only real marketing movies get, I think, is word of mouth. You can promote it all you want. But if the first few audiences come back and can't say, 'I really saw this great film,' then you're not going to go very far. So people went to see The Shawshank Redemption, and they came back and said, 'Oh, man. I saw this really terrific movie. It's called, um... uh, Shank sham? Shim shock.' One lady saw me in the elevator and she went, 'Oh, I saw you in The Hudsucker Production.' So if you can't get word across, then it just doesn't do well."

It would've been interesting to see if the film would've done better with a different title. What are some alternate titles that you can think of for The Shawshank Redemption that you think might have worked for the film?

Bryce Dallas Howard (Jurassic World) recently expressed interest in playing Poison Ivy in director David Ayer's Gotham City Sirens film, which will also include classic DC femme fatales Catwoman and Harley Quinn.

A lot of fans got excited about the idea of Howard playing Poison Ivy and one of them even whipped up this cool piece of fan art by George Evangelista that imagines the actress in the role. Howard certainly seems like she would be great in the role, but it's one of those things I don't think will ever happen. This is just some cool "what if" art I thought I'd share with you.

Do you think Howard would make a good Poison Ivy? If not, who would be your top choice?

Video Breakdown of Film Franchises That Were Cancelled Before The Final Film

There are a lot of films that Hollywood develops that producers hope will turn into a successful franchise. But, as you know, things don't always work out the way the way they'd expect. A lot of films never picked up the steam they needed to keep going. This video from Looper points out six of these film franchise's that were canceled before the final film. They include Eragon, Sahara, John Carter, Percy Jackson, I Am Number Four, Divergent, and Enders Game. I really wish that Ender's Game would have made it. I loved that first movie. Maybe someone will try to take it on again in the future.

If Hollywood studios can make a franchise out of a property, you can bet it's gonna happen. Some become huge hits, like Fast & Furious and John Wick. But every once in awhile, things just don't work out, and there's no choice but to shut down production and move on — even if the story hasn't reached its conclusion. Here are a few movie franchises that ended before their final chapter...

Harrison Ford Reveals The True Story of How He Was Cast As Han Solo in STAR WARS

$

A lot of interesting things have been revealed at Star Wars Celebration the past few days. As many people know, Harrison Ford was a carpenter before he was cast as Han Solo but the full story of how he landed the gig has not been documented until now. According to Ford, he had previously worked for Lucas in American Graffiti but at the time that Star Wars was being developed, he was doing carpentry and one day he was hanging a door for Francis Ford Coppola. As Ford put it:

"I was actually installing a door for Francis Ford Coppola as a favor to his art director, who had built the door but couldn't find anyone to install it. And I said I'll do it, but I'm only gonna do it at night because I don't want people walking through there while I'm not trying to do the thing. And one morning, in walked, while I was finishing up the door, in walked George with Richard Dreyfuss.
"George walked in, and it was a surprise, and I thought it was an interview for a new science fiction film. Anyway, we just chatted and said hello."

And that's the story, the rest is history. Part of the comedy of it all was the fact that the whole time Ford was hanging the door, George Lucas thought he was just waiting outside pretending to work on something just to get his attention. Ford was quick to point out he wouldn't sit out front and wait for Lucas, no matter how much he enjoys him. So there you go. It's always good to have a backup job. Especially in acting.

Star Wars Rebels is coming to an end. Today at Star Wars Celebration, executive producer Dave Filoni announced that Season Four will be the final season of the series! I'm actually kinda sad about this. Star Wars Rebels has been such an incredible series to watch. At least the creative team has an end game that they've been working toward and they'll get to give fans the whole story they set out to tell. I can't wait to see how it all come to an end!

The first trailer for Star Wars Rebels Season 4 has been released and it's pretty freakin' cool and if you're heavily invested in the series, I'm sure you'll find it a bit emotional. Oh! and it was also announced that Warwick Davis will play Ruhk in the final season!

Star Wars Rebels Season 4 is set to premiere with a one-hour event episode this fall.
