James Gunn Says Drax Is Blowing People's Minds in GUARDIANS OF THE GALAXY VOL. 2

james-gunn-says-drax-is-blowing-peoples-minds-in-guardians-of-the-galaxy-vol-2

One of the things that I like most about Marvel's Guardians of the Galaxy is that all of the characters are likable! They all have great action-packed and funny moments. I think one character that audiences weren't expecting to fall for in the first film was Dave Bautista's Drax, he was such an incredible and charming character played perfectly by Bautista. It sounds like the character is going to be even better in Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2. According to director James Gunn, he's blowing people's minds!

We saw a couple bits of fun footage of him in the first trailer that was released, but there's going to be more. In a Facebook post wishing Bautista a happy birthday, Gunn used the opportunity to tell fans how much they're going to love Drax in Vol. 2, saying:

"He's been blowing people's minds in our early screenings of Guardians Of The Galaxy Vol. 2 - exponentially increasing the raw emotion and humor he displayed in the first movie."

First of all, where are these early screenings taking place?! I want to go! Second of all, it's great to hear that Bautista is upping the ante in Vol. 2 and made sure that fans are going to love his character even more. This is definitely one of the films that I'm most excited about seeing this year. There's no doubt in my mind that Gunn is going to deliver another incredible film.

Fan Art Shows What Pierce Brosnan Could Look Like as Cable in DEADPOOL 2

Earlier this week, Ryan Reynolds and Hugh Jackman posted photos of themselves hanging out with Pierce Brosnan. Why, you ask? I have no idea, but the fans went crazy and many of them were speculating that Brosnan is up for the role of Cable in Deadpool 2. Again, this is all just pure speculation, but I think Brosnan would be awesome in the role. It's something he could easily pull off. Of course, there's always the possibility that Reynolds and Jackman are just having fun trolling the fans.

After the talk of Brosnan possibly being cable spread like wildfire across the internet, Boss Logic whipped up the art above showing us what the actor could look like as the character, and I dig it. What do you all think?

Video: Marvel Breaks Down the 10 Most Powerful Weapons in Their Universe

0

Should it come as any surprise that the Infinity Gauntlet is the most powerful weapon in the Marvel Universe? It shouldn't...there's a reason they're making the next two Avengers films about it! Besides number one, I'm not sure I'm in agreement with the placement of the most powerful weapons in this video, but who am I to argue? I'm just saying Captain America's shield, while powerful, did get scuffed by Black Panther. It's not a full body suit like Iron Man! I just think it's a bit overhyped in my opinion. Do you agree with Marvel's list? Anything you think got snubbed?

Chris Evans Surprises Fans With Captain America-Themed Escape Room

The team over at Omaze have put together another cool celebrity-driven experience that you can enter which will benefit a charity, and this time it involves trying to get out of an escape room with movie star Chris Evans. Escape rooms have become a big deal over the past few years, eventually spreading from major cities into the rest of the country, and if you've never done one, they're a lot of fun. I imagine it'd be even more fun if Chris Evans were part of your team, with you all working together to solve puzzles and discover clues about how to get out successfully.

To promote the new experience, Evans and the Omaze team created a mini-version of a Captain America-themed escape room in a comic book store in Boston and guided unsuspecting customers through the process using Evans' voice coming out of a radio inside of a Captain America doll. It's a fun little video. Check it out:

Vin Diesel Is Excited for Groot and Hulk to Fight in AVENGERS: INFINITY WAR

Vin Diesel previously teased that one day we would see Groot and Hulk fight in the MCU. It sounds like that will come in Joe and Anthony Russo's Avengers: Infinity War, and Diesel is looking forward to seeing it happen. While talking to ScreenRant, the actor pretty much confirmed that this fight is going to happen and that he needs to talk to the directors to find out how it's going to go down. He said:

"I'm excited about Baby Groot; he's just too fun. In Infinity War, I have to talk to the Russo brothers and find out how this is all gonna go down. I know somewhere in the Marvel Universe, there is a moment when you will see Groot and Hulk have a few words. I think there's gonna be a moment that we're all waiting for, and whether you know it our not, you are waiting to see Groot and the Hulk get down."

Oh, I think the fans know that they are waiting to see Groot and Hulk bust each other up. Diesel obviously won't let us forget that it's coming! What we don't know is what leads up to the fight or the reasons why these two characters find themselves at odds with each other. In the end, I'm sure they'll both come together and rock Thanos' world.

Like all of you, I'm wicked excited to see what Marvel is planning with their films through Infinity War. I have no doubt things are going to get crazy epic. Seeing Groot and Hulk fight just seems like an added bonus on top of all the other incredible stuff that the studio and their filmmakers are planning.

Warner Bros. is Reportedly in Talks With Daniel Radcliffe, Emma Watson, and Rupert Grint for New HARRY POTTER Trilogy

Update: J.K. Rowling said it's not true... bummer. But I'm still convinced Warner Bros. will eventually adapt The Cursed Child into a movie.

When the play Harry Potter and the Cursed Child was introduced to the world, fans knew it was only a matter of time before we saw it adapted into a feature film. Well, it seems like Warner Bros. is taking the necessary steps to see that it happens as they are reportedly having conversations with Daniel Radcliffe, Emma Watson, and Rupert Grint to come back and reprise their roles.

The news comes from Jim Hill, who is a theme park historian and journalist that has some pretty solid contacts at Disney and Universal. He recently was a guest on the Unofficial Universal Orlando Podcast to talk about a lot of different topics pertaining to Universal Studios Orlando. During that conversation Hill talked about the current contract between NBCUniversal and Warner Bros., which has a specific a clause that allows NBCUniversal the exclusive broadcast rights for all Harry Potter and Fantastic Beasts films from July 1, 2018, and on. This is where The Cursed Child comes into play. He says:

"They not only have Potter, they have Fantastic Beasts and, supposedly, if you drill down into the language of the deal, they also have – when they’re finally made – the trilogy of movies that will be based on Harry Potter and the Cursed Child."

He then offers this bit of information that is sure to excite fans:

"I have heard that Warner Bros. has actually had conversations with [Emma Watson], with Rupert [Grint], and, of course, Daniel [Radcliffe] about Cursed Child, ‘cause they want this to be, for lack of a better term, Harry Potter: The Force Awakens. They want this trilogy of movies to have the actors that we know and love from the original films, that we watched grow up, as adults. And, of course, they’re hiring a bunch of new, younger actors to play their children with the hope that, 'If we can lean on J.K. [Rowling], maybe there’ll be The Cursed Adolescent.'"

There's no official confirmation of any of this, this is just a rumor at the moment, but like I said earlier, it's safe to assume that WB is going to adapt The Cursed Child sometime down the road. Hill went on to add that the release date for the first movie is expected to be in 2026, so we've got a long way to go. I guess you can never start too soon to lock down the actors.

It's definitely an interesting report and it would be pretty cool if everything actually did come together for it if there's any truth to this. Until then, we'll have all the upcoming Fantastic Beasts films to enjoy!

Mark Hamill Shares Thoughts on Holding His Original Lightsaber From RETURN OF THE JEDI After All These Years

Last week we debuted a clip from Mark Hamill's Comic-Con HQ series Pop Culture Quest. In the clip, Hamill was reunited with his original prop lightsaber from the Star Wars film Return of the Jedi. It was pretty cool to see the actor hold the lightsaber for the first time in decades.

During a recent interview with ScreenRant, Hamill was asked how he felt about holding the hilt of the lightsaber after all these years, and this was his reply:

"I didn't know that was going to happen. People sometimes assume that we get to keep our props which, of course, we don't. I didn't know that they were going to have that on set. That's the fun thing about a show like this; it's unpredictable, and you can never be sure exactly what's going to happen. And it has some emotional resonance for me, because I'm not overly sentimental, but it really brings back memories. When I think of those movies, I mostly think of the cast and the crew, you know. The guy who was my dresser, or the prop guy, or even the tea lady. The studio stuff was done in England; of course we went on location to various countries, but I see these photographs and these memories of the people that most people don't know, and they were the family that you lived with when you were making these films. Some of them I've worked with again, and some I haven't seen since we did the original films, but it's a sense memory thing. You hold something like that in your hands and you think, 'Oh gosh, I remember when John Mollo was here." Like I say, it brings back some really great memories."

The report goes on to say that Hamill's not an overly sentimental person. It's interesting to hear about how important the people he worked with were to him and how when he sees things like this lightsaber he immediately remembers the costume designer of the film. That definitely gives us some insight into the kind of person that Hamill is, and he comes off as being very thoughtful.

DC’s GREEN LANTERN CORPS Shortlist Includes Tom Cruise, Ryan Reynolds, Joel McHale, and More

0
0

DC Entertainment and Warner Bros. have put together a short list of actors that they are looking to possibly cast in the Green Lantern Corps film. According to The Wrap, these are actors that they are looking at casting in the role of Hal Jordan: Tom Cruise, Joel McHale, Bradley Cooper, Ryan Reynolds, Armie Hammer, and Jake Gyllenhaal.

This is definitely an interesting list with a wide variety of different people, but I think it's interesting that they are looking at getting Reynolds back! I guess now that the actor's popularity has exploded with Deadpool they want to get back in on that action. Personally, I would love it if they actually got Reynolds to come back, but I don't think that will happen. Regardless of how bad his Green Lantern movie was, he was great in the role of Hal Jordan.

Joel McHale and Jake Gyllenhaal are also interesting choices but it's hard to imagine any of the other actors in the role. They just don't seem to fit it. The report says that the casting process in in the early stages, and there are currently no talks going on with any of these actors. It's just a list of who they're top choices are.

David Goyer (The Dark Knight Trilogy) and Justin Rhodes are writing the script for Green Lantern Corps, and Goyer is also set to produce it with DC Entertainment President Geoff Johns and Jon Berg. Johns previously confirmed that Hal Jordan and the entire Green Lantern Corps will be joining the Justice League films, saying:

“We’ve been to the bottom of the oceans, we’ve been to ancient Greece mythology, we’ve been to the past and future Flash, into the digital world with Cyborg, we still got to go to space. So the Green Lanterns and the Green Lantern Corps will be coming to join the Justice League universe.”

What do you think about this list of actors up for the role of Hal Jordan? Who on this list would you like to see take on the role?

DOCTOR STRANGE Concept Art Shows Off a Slick-Looking Different Costume Designs

Marvel Studios concept artist Andy Park released a couple pieces of concept art he created for Scott Derrickson's Doctor Strange. The art features the Sorcerer Supreme wearing a completely different type of costume, and I personally think they're pretty badass, especially the one above. It's an incredibly fun concept that would have been really cool to see brought to life in the film.

As you can see, they kind of have the same type of style as the other costumes that the Avengers wear in the films, but it still keeps that same Doctor Strange vibe that fans are familiar with in the comics.

As much as I love this costume, I do like the fact that they stayed completely true to the original comic design. Who knows, maybe we'll see Strange wear something like this in Avengers: Infinity War after he officially joins the team! What do you think of them?

James Cameron to Team Up With DEADPOOL Director Tim Miller for New TERMINATOR Movie!

0
0

It looks like The Terminator will be back! In 2019 director James Cameron will get certain rights to The Terminator back, and he's in talks with Deadpool director Tim Miller to help him develop another movie! The news comes from Deadline, who says:

Sources said that Cameron, whose copyright reversion happens 35 years after the release of the 1984 classic, is in early talks with Deadpool director and VFX wiz Tim Miller to direct a reboot and conclusion of one of cinema’s great science fiction tales.

Cameron hasn't really had his hand in any of the Terminator films since Terminator 2: Judgment Day. He did offer some kind of advice and service to Terminator Genisys, but he wasn't credited for that help. Regardless, the fact that he's got something brewing for a new chapter is extremely exciting! With Cameron leading the charge on this new film there's a chance fans might actually see another great Terminator movie!

It's also awesome that Miller could possibly come on board to develop and direct the film under Cameron's guidance. Fans loved what he did with Deadpool, and I'm sure he will bring that level of greatness to Terminator!

There are no other details regarding any kind of plot or if Arnold Schwarzenegger will be involved, but it's definitely something to look forward to!

While we all wait to see if Rick and Morty will return to Adult Swim for a third season, here's a cool and amusing collection of art from Gallery 1988's Rick and Morty tribute art show.

The artwork comes from several different talented artists, each of whom brings their unique style to the characters and world of Rick and Morty. If you're a fan of this crazy animated series and you're in the Los Angeles area, this is definitely an art show worth checking out.

Apparently, this opening of the art show was Gallery 1988's “busiest and most insane night” since they opened 14 years ago. I've included a few pieces from the show below, but you can check out the entire collection here. There are also some prints available for purchase if you're interested!

THE HOBBIT Star Richard Armitage Joins OCEAN'S EIGHT

0
0

The Hobbit star Richard Armitage is the latest actor to join the impressive ensemble cast of Ocean's Eight. This is the female-led Ocean's Eleven spinoff film. The actor joins Sandra Bullock, Cate Blanchett, Anne Hathaway, Rihanna, Helena Bonham Carter, Mindy Kaling, AwkwafinaSarah Paulson, and Damian Lewis as the villain.

In the film, Bullock's character leads a team of thieves and cons as they try to pull off a major heist. I believe Bullock's character is Danny Ocean's sister. Matt Damon will be making a cameo in the film and George Clooney is producing alongside franchise writer and director Steven Soderbergh

I think Armitage is a solid actor, but since he played Thorin in The Hobbit, it's always weird seeing him in other movies. There's no word on who he'll be playing in Ocean's Eight, so we'll just have to wait and see.

Gary Ross is directing this film from a script that he co-wrote with Olivia Milch. Ocean's Eight is set to hit theaters on June 8th, 2018.

10 Great Marvel Movie Scenes That Were Improvised by the Actors

0
0

It's not surprising to learn that sometimes in the heat of the moment shooting a scene for a film an actor will improvise something that wasn't in the script. Sometimes it works and it ends up in the film, other times it doesn't. Screen Rant has released a new video list that breaks down ten great Marvel movie scenes that were completely improvised by the actors. From what I've heard, some people can argue that the entire Iron Man film was improvised, yet it wasn't even mentioned in the video.

In recent years, Marvel movies have absolutely dominated the box office and have brought us some of the most memorable performances of all time. From Robert Downey Jr’s Ironman to Ryan Reynolds' Deadpool, some of the greatest actors in the world are lining up to play heroes from the Marvel comics. While there is fantastic writing behind every one of these characters, some of the most amazing moments from these films happen when the actors decide to go off script and just let their impulses drive them. For this video we are taking a look at some of the best examples in our list of 10 Marvel Superhero Movie Moments That Actors DID NOT See Coming! Enjoy this video and be sure to hit the subscribe button to get more awesome Screen Rant content, every single day!

Fun Retro-Futuristic Cyberpunk Short Film ATTACK OF THE CYBER OCTOPUSES

fun-retro-futuristic-cyberpunk-short-film-attack-of-the-cyber-octopuses

“Be prepared for your brain to turn into proton paste.”

I’m sure you’ll enjoy this concept trailer for a short film that is being developed by Nicola Piovesan called "Attack of the Cyber Octopuses." It’s a retro-futuristic cyberpunk film that is heavily inspired by the '80s and films from that era including William Gibson's cyberpunk landmark Neuromancer, Blade Runner, Terminator, Escape from New York, Aliens, Akira, and more. The director started a Kickstarter campaign for it and he explains:

“In the last few years there have been some other 80s style projects, but what sets ‘Attack of the Cyber Octopuses’ apart, is that we are not aiming to make a cheesy movie. Instead it will be made very seriously. However, it will likely have some involuntary funny moments.”

This is a strange statement because the trailer he released for the film comes off as being comedically cheesy and charmingly ridiculous. I’m not sure how anyone will be able to take this movie seriously, especially with that title. It doesn’t come across as “very serious.” The fact that they are looking to make a dead serious film out of this will probably make it that much more cheesy and entertaining.

The story takes place in Neo-Berlin, 2079. A dark, rain-soaked city held by mega corporations where the only enjoyment in life is connecting to cyberspace and taking “Binary Trip” a cyber drug that fries your neurons but promises a feeling better than a hundred orgasms at once. In this setting, a team of crack cyberspace detectives are investigating a new menace: an army of cyber octopuses that are terrorizing the city.

The plan is to shoot the film in real locations and use real practical effects and handmade models and props. They goal is not to use any CGI, which I give them credit for. I really hope they can actually pull it off! Check out the trailer and tell us what you think!

Sundance Review: Nuns Go Wild in Medieval Comedy THE LITTLE HOURS

0
0

The Sundance Film Festival has arrived! One of the things I enjoy most about this event is that I have no idea what to expect from most of the movies that I see. It's like playing a deadly game of cinematic Russian roulette. You pull the trigger on seeing a film you know nothing about hoping it doesn't blow your brains out.

The first film I saw at the festival was a medieval comedy called The Littlest Hours, and it didn't necessarily blow my brains out, but it was certainly a misfire that left me dazed and confused. This was an absolutely ridiculous movie. I had no idea what the hell was going on in this film or what the point of it even was.

The story was is set in medieval times and follows three nuns named Alessandra (Alison Brie), Fernanda (Aubrey Plaza), and Ginevra (Kate Micucci), who lead a simple yet complicated life in their convent. "Their days are spent chafing at monastic routine, spying on one another, and berating the estate’s day laborer. After a particularly vicious insult session drives the peasant away, Father Tommasso (John C. Reilly) brings on new hired hand Massetto (Dave Franco), a virile young servant forced into hiding by his angry lord. Introduced to the sisters as a deaf-mute to discourage temptation, Massetto struggles to maintain his cover as the repressed nunnery erupts in a whirlwind of pansexual horniness, substance abuse, and wicked revelry."

The film was written and directed by Jeff Baena, who previously wrote and directed Life After Beth and Joshy, both of which I liked! This latest film of his, though, completely missed the mark.

I thought the story and tone of the film were all over the place. There were a few laugh out loud moments when the nuns would start shouting out vulgar language and beating the hell out of the poor maintenance laborer, but the whole nuns behaving badly thing got old really fast.

A lot of the comedy felt forced, and there was no natural progression. It was like the creative team kept trying to think of shocking things that they could do with medieval nuns, so the movie seemed like one stupid shocking nun thing after another. Hell, one of the nuns even turned out to be a witch, and that whole aspect of the story played out terribly.

Then there was the end of the film, I won't say what happens, but it felt like it belonged in a completely different movie! There were many disjointed story arcs in the film, especially the ending. It ended on a story element that was hardly even explored in the film.

I thought I'd really like this movie because I'm a fan of the cast and the filmmaker! Unfortunately, for me, the movie was more annoying than it was funny. I guess it just wasn't my style of comedy. I'm sure there's an audience out there that will enjoy it, especially if you think you'd enjoy bad nuns going wild in a terrible story.

I seriously have no idea how a studio is going to market this film to audiences.
