AVENGERS: INFINITY WAR Will Feature "Many, Many, Many New Worlds"

Marvel fans are excitedly awaiting what Joe and Anthony Russo have in store for Marvel's Avengers: Infinity War. We know that The Avengers will be teaming up with the Guardians of the Galaxy against the cosmic threat of Thanos. There are going to be a ton of characters packed into this movie, and now we know that there are going to be a lot of new worlds introduced into the MCU as well

Marvel movie production designer Charles Wood recently talked to ComicBook.com about his awesome and crazy work on Doctor Strange, and that led to him teasing his plans for Avengers: Infinity War. He revealed that he's read the script and said:

"Any time you turn that page on this script, you're kind of staggered, blown away, terrified by what's in front of you."

What's he terrified of? The journey of hard work that he and his team are about to embark on in bringing the Russo's vision of the film to life. This is the point where he teased the worlds:

"I think rather like Doctor Strange, you’ll find this film, it’s not regurgatative, yeah? What I’m trying to say, is, there are many, many, many new worlds to see in this film."

That's awesome to hear! We know that Thanos is a major cosmic threat in the MCU. Since there are going to be "many, many, many, new worlds" introduced, I imagine that there's a chance that some of the other members of the Avengers team could travel to other worlds to take on Thanos. The battle fought could take place all over the galaxy! I'm just letting my imagination run wild with that thought, and now I'm even more excited to see what happens in Infinity War!

Avengers: Infinity War has started shooting and is set to be released on May 4th, 2018. With a whole new year of geek conventions in front of us, we'll be learning a lot more about this film as we get closer to its release.

Supercut: The Most Beautiful Shots in Disney Movies

$

Ariel hurling her head back as she bursts forth from the water. Aladdin and Jasmine soaring through the skies on the back of the magic carpet. Rapunzel releasing a glowing, floating tribute into the night sky from her seat in a boat. Simba and Mufasa looking out over the pride lands, all bathed in sunlight. These are just a few of the gloriously beautiful shots from Disney's animated movies over the years, and this supercut from Jorge Luengo Ruiz collects these and many more. There are even some great moments from movies that aren't nearly as well-loved as some of the studio's timeless classics. You don't really see movies like The Hunchback of Notre Dame or Atlantis: The Lost Empire getting much acclaim these days, but that doesn't mean they're worth forgetting entirely.

It Looks Like a Sequel to David Cronenberg's EASTERN PROMISES Is Moving Forward

Director David Cronenberg was originally supposed to direct a sequel to his badass film Eastern Promises back in 2012. Viggo Mortensen and Vincent Cassel were both set to reprise their roles, but Focus Features ended up shutting it down.

According to My Entertainment World, the sequel is now moving forward! They say that the film will start production in March and will be titled Body Cross. The sequel was written by the original film's screenwriter, Steven Knight, who has since written some quality stuff such as Peaky BlindersLockeTaboo, and Allied. The report also provides the following synopsis:

Picking up where the 2007 film left off with the incompetent underboss Kirill thinking that he and his henchman driver Nikolai really have inherited the throne from his crime-lord father, without knowing that Nikolai is actually a clandestine agent working undercover in Russia’s federal security service.

It's exciting to hear that this movie is moving forward because I freakin' loved Easter Promises! I'm just not sure who else is involved. I hope that Cronenberg, Mortensen, and Cassel are set to return, but the report doesn't indicate that at all.

Back In 2012,  Indiewire interviewed Cronenberg, and he said he wasn't involved with it anymore:

"It was something I really wanted to explore because it was the first time I had ever been tempted to do a sequel because I felt I wasn’t finished with the character of Nikolai, played by Viggo Mortensen, and Kirill played by Vincent Cassel. I really wanted to see Nikolai go back to Russia, because one of the things I wanted in the first movie was that you see a bunch of Russians in London but you never see them in Russia. In other words, you experience their exile and they are trying to recreate some of Russia within London. In the original screenplay, there were some scenes in Russia and I thought it was better if we don’t see that – they long for Russia but we never see that."

Hopefully, he and the actors decided to come back and be a part of the sequel, otherwise, what's the point? We should find out soon enough. If the film starts shooting in March, I imagine we'll see something officially announced soon.

Warner Bros. Is Going to Make a Live-Action ATTACK ON TITAN Movie

It looks like Warner Bros. is going to make a live-action Attack on Titan movie. According to Deadline, the studio is currently in negotiations for the feature film rights to the Hajime Isayama created property. They are also looking to bring on Harry Potter franchise producer David Heyman to develop the film, which is a smart choice as he's good at what he does.

Attack on Titan has become ridiculously popular over the past few years, and it has a huge fanbase. It was only a matter of time before a studio in Hollywood snatched up the rights to it.

I know some of the fans will complain, but let's be honest, it can't be any worse than the live-action Japanese version of Attack on Titan. That wasn't as awesome as I had hoped. But then there's a bit of news in the report that says the movie would be a remake of the Japanese film that was released in two parts.

I personally think the studio should just start from scratch and use the manga and anime as their main source material.

I'm cautiously excited about this because I love the franchise and I want to see a great live-action adaptation. Warner Bros. is also a solid studio that, for the most part, produces great, well-made films.

What do you all think about Warner Bros. taking this property on?

Cate Blanchett Plays 13 Different Characters in the Strange Trailer for MANIFESTO

I've got a crazy trailer here for you to watch for Cate Blanchett's latest film project, Manifesto. In the film, Blanchett takes on the role of 13 different characters, and it's really strange seeing her in all these different roles. Each role is in a different vignette, all of which feature her characters reciting and performing scenes based on manifestos that have been written by artists, architects, and filmmakers.

Blanchett is an incredible actress and one of the few who would be able to effectively pull off this kind of filmmaking madness.

Tour-de-force: a term so overused that we need an undeniable acting performance to renew its meaning for cinema. Cate Blanchett has just given us one, going all-out in Manifesto. Already respected as one of the best actresses in film, Blanchett raises the bar even higher by playing 13 different roles in Manifesto, embodying some of the most influential and emotional artist manifestos in history.

The film was directed Julian Rosefeldt and is set to premiere at Sundance later this month. I plan on checking it out while I'm there.

You've Gotta See Matt Ferguson's Incredible LORD OF THE RINGS Trilogy Artwork

We've seen a lot of The Lord of the Rings-themed artwork over the years, but Matt Ferguson's new officially licensed pieces from NYC's Bottleneck Gallery are some of my absolute favorites. These 12x24 inch screen prints first went on sale yesterday, but luckily for all of us, this is a timed release which doesn't end until this Sunday, January 15th, at 11:59pm EST, so there's still time to score all three of these incredible pieces for yourselves or your favorite LOTR mega-fan. Seems like a pretty good deal, too: it's $35 each or $100 for the set, which includes "Bag End," "Zirakzigil," and "Minas Tirith."

MF lotr Bag End.jpg
MF lotr Zirakzigil.jpg
MF lotr Minas Tirith.jpg

In addition, Bottleneck has awesome-looking pins modeled after The One Ring on sale for $10 each. They're holding a charity pin release for the Myfanwy Townsend Melanoma Research Fund, and 100% of the pin profits will be donated in memory of Alexandra Grace, who was close to the Bottleneck team. We wish them the best with the fundraiser!

What's your favorite piece of this trilogy set? "Bag End" is great (I just visited New Zealand and saw the real set, and this looks pretty spot-on to me), but as a big fan of the Balrog, I'm partial to "Zirakzigil." But man, that "Minas Tirith" image is terrific, too. I like all of them!

New ALIEN: COVENANT Photo Gives Another Look at Michael Fassbender's Walter

Another new photo has surfaced from Ridley Scott's Alien: Covenant, and it features Michael Fassbender as Walter and Carmen Ejogo as an unspecified character. It looks like they are observing something of interest to them. We have no idea what is it, but we'll all find out when the movie comes out!

Set as the second chapter in a prequel trilogy that began with Prometheus, Alien: Covenant connects directly to Ridley Scott’s 1979 seminal work of science fiction. It begins with the colony ship Covenant, bound for a remote planet on the far side of the galaxy. There, the crew discovers what they think is an uncharted paradise, but is actually a dark, dangerous world — whose sole inhabitant is the “synthetic” David, survivor of the doomed Prometheus expedition.

The movie also stars Katherine WaterstonDanny McBride, Demián Bichir (The Hateful Eight), Jussie Smolett (Empire), Amy Seimetz (Upstream Color), Callie Hernandez (Machete Kills), Billy Crudup (Watchmen), and James Franco.

Alien: Covenant is set to open in theaters on May 19, 2017. To watch the red-band trailer for the film and get caught up on all the previous news, click here.

If you can't wait for John Wick 2 to be in theaters, Sleepless looks to be a good substitute! I had good vibes about the action in this film from the first trailer, and this red band trailer confirms it gets just as brutal as I could've hoped! The pitching machine scene will make you wince!

Check out the new trailer, and consider seeing the film tonight as it is now playing everywhere in the U.S! I'm seeing it as this looks like the best Jamie Foxx movie I've seen in awhile!

Someone Created a Live Action Version of RICK AND MORTY's Fake Movie TWO BROTHERS

I haven't caught all the way up with Rick and Morty yet myself, but there's a clip from the episode "Rixty Minutes" in which the two title characters watch TV in another dimension and comment about how TV there feels more improvisational than it does in their dimension. One of the commercials they watch is a trailer for a fictional movie called Two Brothers, and the YouTube channel Just Editing Stuff has recreated that trailer primarily using live action footage from Michael Bay's Bad Boys. Shout out to them, because it's pretty freakin' spot-on. Take a look, and then watch the original clip below.

THE SHALLOWS "Making Of" Video Shows Off Some Surprising and Great VFX Work

Blake Lively's The Shallows turned out to be a surprisingly great film. If you haven't seen it yet, it's definitely worth checking out. Anyway, I have a fascinatingly cool "Making Of" video that breaks down the awesome VFX work done for the film. I had no idea that many of the shots in this movie were actually CG. It's beautiful, seamless work. It's incredible to see how much of the film was actually completed with VFX work in post-production. The craziest thing for me was the fact that the film was basically just shot in a pool! Gotta love movie magic!

At this point, you've probably learned just about everything there is to know about Mad Max: Fury Road, the unstoppable action juggernaut that surprisingly went on to win a bunch of Oscars last year. But just in case you need to brush up on your trivia, this video from Cinefix has you covered with seven things you might not have known about the film. There are obvious ones, like the fact that director George Miller has also directed children's movies, but then there are less obvious ones, like the fact that Charlize Theron kept some extra grease in the cabin of the War Rig so she could touch up her makeup on the fly if necessary. Check it out.

DEADPOOL Writers Will "Gloss Over" Cable's History Rather Than Try To Explain It

$
0
0

When it comes to origin stories in comics, Cable's is way more complicated than most. For that reason, Collider reports the Deadpool writers are going to just capture the character "at his core." Writer Paul Wernick explained:

"So with Cable, he’s got such a convoluted past, and such a convoluted origin story that I think we’re going to try to leave that, not mysterious, but there are a lot of twists and turns, cloning and all this stuff where you go, “Oh my God. How do we get that across in a two hour movie?” I think we’re going to distill him down to his essence. It will be authentic and faithful, but it’s not going to include the 18,000 details if you were going to read a Wikipedia page about Cable you’d roll your eyes."

There's also a lot about Cable's origin that comes in conflict with the canon of the Marvel X-Men universe. For starters, he's the future son of Scott Summers (Cyclops) and a clone of Jean Grey. Things don't get simpler from there, and if you really wanted to you could make an entire film just about his beginning and never really see any action! So while I typically think it's best to portray the character as accurate to their original character in the comics, I think we can agree that it's better left vague with Cable.

Perhaps the most interesting news from this interview is that there is still no solid lead on who will play the X-Man. Wernick stated as much when he said:

"It’s intimidating because we have to find his voice, and we don’t have an actor yet so we don’t know who we’re writing for. Most screenwriting happens without cast in place, but sequels it’s a little bit different and it’s likely that part will get cast, and we’ll get to continue writing it and honing it for that actor, which I think is a good thing. There’s been so many diverse people that have been brought up as possibilities for Cable, and who have not been brought up but we’re considering. And that, much like with Ryan [Reynolds], that decision will greatly impact his cadences, his rhythms. And we’ll certainly make him like he is in the comics, and we’ll certainly be faithful, but I do think that voice will inform us quite a bit."

I'm still pulling for Jon Hamm even though I know it won't happen. I wish they would just pick someone already! They don't have much time if they're planning on wrapping this film before the end of 2017. Who are you hoping gets the role? Do you agree with the writers' decision to leave Cable's origin out of the story?

  • Major props and costumes from the entire franchise covering all 6 movies
  • Hero creatures, Scarabs, Countdown watches, screen used hero guns, grenades, Jumping Jack Mines, syringes, silver spiked staffs and more.

I've never seen any of these movies, but I always appreciate the opportunity for fans to be able to take home a piece of a franchise that means a lot to them. I nearly bid on the Oceanic 815 plane door from the Lost pilot, but I came to my senses and realized I shouldn't be spending thousands of dollars on something that I had no reasonable method of displaying.

Bryan Cranston, Jessica Biel, and Others Star in a Soap Opera Made Using Kanye West Lyrics

James Corden has been on fire lately! I swear he's going viral more than Jimmy Fallon these days! That's saying something considering the host of the Late Late Show seemed like the odd man out in an absolutely stacked competition for late night television shows. While I've enjoyed his carpool karaoke, his latest skit to go viral might be my favorite yet!

Corden, Bryan Cranston, Jessica Biel, Giovanni Ribisi, and Reggie Watts all team up for a soap opera with a twist! All of the dialogue in the sketch comes entirely from the songs of Kanye West. I tried my best not to laugh, but I lost it at the "You should be honored by my lateness" line, and it was all downhill from there!

Check out the sketch below.
