Now You Can Mount a Xenomorph Skull on Your Wall, If That's Something You'd Enjoy Looking at Every Day

0
0

I like the Alien franchise as much as the next person, but I don't like it nearly enough to want to mount a Xenomorph skull on my wall. But hey, I'm not judging — there are probably a ton of you who see this 36-inch long replica from NECA and are stoked at the prospect of hanging it up prominently for all to see and staring it down every time you walk past it, as if you engaged in battle with this beast and killed it yourselves. You do you.

The skull is available for pre-order now for $269.99 (yikes!), and deliveries are expected to begin in March of 2017.

Carrie Fisher Will Still Appear in Upcoming Episodes of FAMILY GUY

0
0

With us all still reeling from the loss of Carrie Fisher, this news is truly bittersweet. Variety announced that Fisher had completed voice recordings for two upcoming episodes of Fox’s animated comedy series Family Guy

Fisher first guest starred on the animated comedy as Angela, supervisor to Seth MacFarlane’s Peter Griffin at the brewery where he works, in 2005. She voiced the character in 20 episodes that have aired, most recently in an episode that premiered Dec. 4.
MacFarlane, who, in addition to voicing Peter Griffin is the creator and executive producer of Family Guy, wrote Tuesday on Twitter, “Carrie Fisher was smart, funny, talented, surprising, and always a hell of a fun time to be around. Family Guy will miss her immensely.”

The date of the episodes is to be determined. This is not the last place that we will see Fisher, she had completed her work in Star Wars: Episode VIII and she had just completed filming for her recurring role in the series Catastrophe

Joey's 15 Favorite Movies of 2016

0
0

2016 is about to come to a close, and it's been a hell of a great year for movies! I saw so many great films this year, and like every year it wasn't easy to come up with my list of favorite movies. I just solidified my top 15 favorite movies of the year, and they include everything from big budget films to small indie gems. I've also included a variety of different genres on my list including action, comedy, drama, adventure, horror, and sci-fi.

If you haven't seen any of the movie on this list, you seriously need to get on that because every movie you'll see on here is an incredible film that I think everyone needs to see, so please take the time to do so! I promise they will not disappoint you!

After you go through my list let me know in the comment section what some of your favorite movies of the year were!

Hacksaw Ridge

The story that this film tells just completely blew me away. It was such a powerful film that was masterfully told by director Mel Gibson. He’s one of the best filmmakers working today, and this film reminds us of that. This film just completely overwhelmed me with emotions, and it’s the one film this year that I watched in theaters five times. That’s how much I loved it.

Doctor Strange

This was the most unique and different film that Marvel has made yet, and it’s one of my favorites! I’ve been a long time fan of Doctor Strange and director Scott Derrickson and Benedict Cumberbatch perfectly brought him to life in this movie. I couldn’t have asked for a better Doctor Strange film. I especially enjoyed the visual insanity! If there was one film to watch in 3D this year, it was this one.

Captain America: Civil War

Over the years, Marvel has been fine-tuning their skills in storytelling and filmmaking, and I can honestly tell you that this is the best film they have made so far. It’s excitingly epic, and it's going to completely blow your mind! Joe and Anthony Russo really turned up the heat on this film and its story was perfectly executed. - Review

Rogue One: A Star Wars Story

Rogue One is an utterly stunning Star Wars film and on my list of favorite Star Wars movies it ends up on the #2 slot right underneath The Empire Strikes Back. It packed a powerful punch and tells an insanely bold story with wonderful and unique characters that I completely fell in love with. I think it set a new standard for Star Wars film, and I hope the films that follow it can live up to that bar. - Review

Kubo and the Two Strings

Laika has perfected the craft of stop-motion filmmaking, and their latest film, Kubo and the Two Strings, is by far the best film they have made so far! Not only is it awesomely designed and exquisitely animated, but it tells a story that was also perfectly crafted. The film offers an explosion of emotions that completely overwhelmed me, and I loved the feels it gave me. - Review

Hunt for the Wilderpeople

This is a brilliantly written and directed film that I know for a fact audiences will love. Waititi has reached a new level of excellence in his filmmaking career with this movie. All of the characters are amazingly wonderful and likable, and you can't help but fall in love with them. Hunt for the Wilderpeople has got everything you want in a movie — action, adventure, comedy, drama, danger, and excitement. I really couldn't have asked for anything more from this movie. In my mind, it was a perfect film. - Review

The Nice Guys

Russell Crowe and Ryan Gosling’s The Nice Guys was easily the most fun and comedically entertaining movie of 2016. This movie has it all, and it featured incredible performances by Crow and Gosling. This film might just be my favorite thing that they have done in their careers.

La La Land

Hollywood doesn’t make movies like this anymore! Yeah, I know it’s not a comic book, sci-fi, fantasy, or horror film, but this is a film that any geek with an appreciation for film will absolutely fall in love with. This film is a musical, and it’s overwhelmingly charming in every way. It's also a wonderful tribute to the musicals of old Hollywood. It’s packed full of stuff that I loved from the classic films from the golden age of Hollywood. - Review

Sing Street

I loved Sing Street so much! This was such a joyful uplifting and inspirational film that left me with a glowing happiness. The film came from John Carney, who previously made Once and Begin Again, both of which I thought were great. Sing Street is by far his best film, though, and I absolutely love the music!

Manchester By The Sea

This was the most powerful film of 2016, and it really touched my soul. It tells one of those dramatic stories that really makes you think about life and the trilas and tribulations that we go through. It deeply effected me in a way that changed my outlook on life and pushing through the trials I face the best way that I can. On top of that, Casey Affleck gave the best performance of the year and I hope he wins the Oscar that he’ll be nominated for.

Hell Or High Water

If you missed out on this little gem, then you missed out on one of the best films of the year. This was a modern day western bank heist film that was intense as hell and had some incredible performances by Chris Pine, Ben Foster, and Jeff Bridges. I’m a big fan of the western genre, and this was just such a brilliantly well-made film.

Arrival

When I went and saw Arrival, I got something that I wasn’t expecting at all. This movie surprised the hell out of me because of how good the story was, and the ending of it caught me completely off guard, which I loved! A lot of movies don’t leave me in awe like this one did. I liked that it wasn’t your typical spectacle sci-fi film. This was just a fantastic story with phenomenal performances.

Deadpool

This is a film that I never thought I’d see happen. Fox was so adamant on not making it for years! But now it exists, and it couldn’t have been a more perfect adaptation of the the Merc with the Mouth. It was a ridiculously fun action film that was just a bast to watch from beginning to end.

The Jungle Book

The Jungle Book was a simply stunning film in both its storytelling and visual awesomeness. It’s a thrilling cinematic adventure full of action, drama, and comedy. It was a meticulously crafted work of art, and it’s the best live-action adaptation from their animated properties. I couldn’t have asked for anything better. - Review

The Conjuring 2

For me, one of the main requirements for a great horror film is that it has to scare the shit out of me. I’ve been watching horror films since I was a kid, so I’ve kinda become desensitized to them. Most horror films don’t freak me out like they used to when I was growing up, so if a movie comes along that scares me now, then that movie is a complete success in my mind. The Conjuring 2 terrified me! - Review

A Young George Lucas Is Coming to LEGENDS OF TOMORROW

0
0

A young George Lucas will be a character in a new episode of Legends of Tomorrow! Slashfilm reports that actor Matt Angel will play Lucas right before he goes to film school. Here's a picture of Angel for reference...

To be completely honest, Angel looks like a better fit for the Maroon 5 biopic on Adam Levine that will inevitably come one day, but the story is enough to keep me interested! Showrunner Marc Guggenheim lays it out below...

Because of circumstances, the time aberration in episode 209 is George Lucas quits film school. As a result, he never makes Star Wars or Raiders of the Lost Ark. As a result, Ray, who became an engineer because of Star Wars, and Nate, who became a historian because of Raiders, slowly start to lose their brilliance, because those things that inspired them to become who they are didn’t exist.

Pretty awesome, right? It's enough to make me want to jump into the show! Has anyone been watching this season? How does it compare to the first?

Creators of Netflix Series THE OA Finally Speak Out About Controversial Ending

0
0

The OA is the latest series that takes you on a phenomenal journey and then abruptly ends with a "huh?" that will at the very least confuse you. THR got a chance to interview the show's creators and get a better explanation of the show's ending, so if you haven't watched it yet...

Okay, I won't lie, I felt betrayed by the ending. I was taken on an immense science fiction journey that ended on a religious note? Or was it still sci-fi? Maybe it was the ramblings of a crazy person? I'm sure my thoughts echoed yours, and it doesn't look like our answer will be as concrete as we would've liked. Brit Marling offers the following...

"What I feel is that your job as a storyteller just to, in that moment as best as you know how, try to tell a legible story. And each time, hopefully get a little bit better at making it legible, and the response is up to the audience. I feel all responses are fair game. Some of the things that have moved me the most in the world are things that other people have not been moved by at all."

Well if the overall goal was to get me invested in a silly story, they succeeded. That's kind of the major plot point though. A woman who's been missing for a decade and a half returns and picks five strangers to tell her story to and that's how they get drawn in. They keep listening because the story is just as bonkers as her random appearance! In the end, (much like us) each of them is conflicted as to what exactly it all meant, which I can respect. I'm just simultaneously having this moment of clarity as I write, and I think it took hearing the creator's statement to really pull it out of me!

So while there was no concrete answers, I think I got my answer. It doesn't matter whether The OA died, was crazy, or transcended to the fourth dimension... it was about the story all along. Are you satisfied with that answer? If you're someone who read this wanting to know more about the series, I still encourage you to watch because most of this show is phenomenal! An ambiguous ending is a bit of a downer though...

Supercut of Stan Lee's Cameos in Marvel Movies

0
0

Before the comic book movie boom began in full force, only comic book nerds and pop culture geeks knew who Stan Lee was. But we're fourteen movies into the MCU, and Lee was making cameos in Marvel movies long before the MCU even began — he's mainstream now. At this point, it's safe to say that even if my grandmother doesn't know who Stan Lee is, she'd still recognize him as that old guy that pops up in all of those superhero movies.

A YouTuber put together a compilation of all of Lee's Marvel movie cameos to date (except for Doctor Strange), and as you'll see, it only takes two movies before the cameos start getting less about him blending into the background of scenes and more about putting him front and center in a way that can sometimes be a little much.

Darth Vader's Epic Final Scene in ROGUE ONE Reimagined in 16-Bit

That epic scene featuring Darth Vader at the end of Rogue One: A Star Wars Story was jaw-droppingly awesome! Thanks to Mr. Sunday Movies and John Stratman, you can now relive that insane climatic conclusion in 16-bit glory! This is a lot of fun to watch, and it makes me wish Rogue One had a 16-bit video game that we could actually play. Sometimes I miss the simpler times of video games.

New Mashup Features Pop Culture Characters Helping Kevin From HOME ALONE Protect His Turf

Antonio Maria Da Silva is my favorite mashup editor working on the internet right now. He's the guy responsible for those awesome Hell's Club videos, and now he's used his skills to create a Christmas-themed mashup that imagines a world in which Kevin McCallister, John McClane, Krampus, Iron Man, Jason Voorhees, and more pop culture characters all live in the same universe. It's incredibly well done and will likely be one of the coolest movie-related things you'll see this holiday season. Enjoy:

Ryan Gosling Will Play Neil Armstrong in the Biopic FIRST MAN Directed Damien Chazelle

0
0

Ryan Gosling will reteam with La La Land director Damien Chazelle for a biopic he's directing based on the life of Neil Armstrong. The film will be called First Man, and the script comes from Spotlight scribe Josh Singer.

The movie is based on the biography by James Hansen called First Man: A Life Of Neil A. Armstrong. It tells the story of NASA’s mission to land a man on the moon, and it focuses on Armstrong and the years 1961-1969.

According to Variety, the film will be a visceral, first-person account, that "will explore the sacrifices and the cost — on Armstrong and on America — of one of the most dangerous space missions in history."

Gosling is a very talented actor who seems like a solid choice to play Armstrong. The film was originally supposed to be directed by Clint Eastwood at Warner Bros. It eventually ended up at Universal Pictures where Chazelle jumped on board. He's a great director who made his mark with the film Whiplash, and it's cool to see his career really taking off. I'm looking forward to seeing what he ends up doing with this Neil Armstrong film.

Here's the full description of the book:

“The Eagle has landed.”

When Apollo 11 touched down on the moon’s surface in 1969, the first man on the moon became a legend. In First Man, Hansen explores the life of Neil Armstrong. Based on over fifty hours of interviews with the intensely private Armstrong, who also gave Hansen exclusive access to private documents and family sources, this “magnificent panorama of the second half of the American twentieth century” (Publishers Weekly, starred review) is an unparalleled biography of an American icon.

Upon his return to earth, Armstrong was honored and celebrated for his monumental achievement. He was also—as James R. Hansen reveals in this fascinating and important biography—misunderstood. Armstrong’s accomplishments as engineer, test pilot, and astronaut have long been a matter of record, but Hansen’s unprecedented access to private documents and unpublished sources and his interviews with more than 125 subjects (including more than fifty hours with Armstrong himself) yield this first in-depth analysis of an elusive American celebrity still renowned the world over.

In a riveting narrative filled with revelations, Hansen vividly recreates Armstrong’s career in flying, from his seventy-eight combat missions as a naval aviator flying over North Korea to his formative transatmospheric flights in the rocket-powered X-15 to his piloting Gemini VIII to the first-ever docking in space. These milestones made it seem, as Armstrong’s mother Viola memorably put it, “as if from the very moment he was born—farther back still—that our son was somehow destined for the Apollo 11 mission.”

For a pilot who cared more about flying to the Moon than he did about walking on it, Hansen asserts, Armstrong’s storied vocation exacted a dear personal toll, paid in kind by his wife and children. For the forty-five years since the Moon landing, rumors have swirled around Armstrong concerning his dreams of space travel, his religious beliefs, and his private life.

In a penetrating exploration of American hero worship, Hansen addresses the complex legacy of the First Man, as an astronaut and as an individual. In First Man, the personal, technological, epic, and iconic blend to form the portrait of a great but reluctant hero who will forever be known as history’s most famous space traveler.

Larry David Goes Full CURB YOUR ENTHUSIASM on Ridiculous Q&A Question

It's always interesting to see how celebrities act when they're not playing their typical roles. It's even more interesting when you see an actor who is every bit the person they play onscreen! Granted, Larry David plays himself on Curb Your Enthusiasm, and if you watched Seinfeld you could have guessed the similarities between the two had to come from someone truly unique. Still, I find it hard to believe that David is really THAT neurotic and THAT over the top!

While this interview isn't exactly off-camera, it is a lot more of a candid experience than you'll see onscreen! To be fair, I'm not sure who wouldn't go "Larry David" on this guy because he really is that annoying. Check out the ridiculous encounter between Larry and an annoying fan below.

Listen to a Brief Recording of Emma Watson Singing in BEAUTY IN THE BEAST

The first trailer for Disney's live-action adaptation of Beauty and the Beast was full of wonderful visuals that got fans of the classic animated series really excited about the film. One thing they still haven't shared with us is what the actors sound like when they sing the classic songs.

Well, today we have a brief recording of Emma Watson as Belle singing the song “Something There.” The recording comes from a movie Belle doll at Toys ‘R Us, and it was recorded and posted online by one of the film's producers, Jack Morrissey

Listen to the audio clip below and let us know what you think. She definitely doesn't have the singing chops as the original Belle, who was voiced by Paige O'Hara, but it'll have to do. Regardless, I still think this will be a great movie that will explode at the box office.

Hopefully, Disney releases a trailer soon that gives us more of a taste of what the music in the film will be like with all of the actors singing. The movie also stars Luke Evans as Gaston, Ewan McGregor as Lumiere, Emma Thompson as Mrs. Potts, Stanley Tucci as Cadenza, Sir Ian McKellen as Cogsworth, Kevin Kline as Maurice, and Josh Gad as Le Fou.

Beauty and the Beast hits theaters on March 17, 2017.
