Trailer for Tom Hanks' Thriller THE CIRCLE with Emma Watson and John Boyega

An intriguing first trailer has been released for Tom Hanks' upcoming thriller The Circle, which comes from director James Ponsoldt (The Spectacular Now, The End of the Tour). The film is based on the novel by Dave Eggers, and it's his biggest and most commercial film yet. The director managed to bring together an incredibly talented cast that also includes Emma Watson, John Boyega, Karen Gillan, Ellar Coltrane, and Patton Oswalt to bring the story to life on the big screen. Here's a description of the story:

When Mae Holland is hired to work for the Circle, the world’s most powerful internet company, she feels she’s been given the opportunity of a lifetime. The Circle, run out of a sprawling California campus, links users’ personal emails, social media, banking, and purchasing with their universal operating system, resulting in one online identity and a new age of civility and transparency. As Mae tours the open-plan office spaces, the towering glass dining facilities, the cozy dorms for those who spend nights at work, she is thrilled with the company’s modernity and activity. There are parties that last through the night, there are famous musicians playing on the lawn, there are athletic activities and clubs and brunches, and even an aquarium of rare fish retrieved from the Marianas Trench by the CEO. Mae can’t believe her luck, her great fortune to work for the most influential company in the world—even as life beyond the campus grows distant, even as a strange encounter with a colleague leaves her shaken, even as her role at the Circle becomes increasingly public. What begins as the captivating story of one woman’s ambition and idealism soon becomes a heart-racing novel of suspense, raising questions about memory, history, privacy, democracy, and the limits of human knowledge.

I like what I'm seeing in the trailer, and I'm definitely looking forward to seeing the film because it looks great! The Circle opens in theaters on April 28, 2017.

Iron Fist is the last main character to be introduced into Marvel's Netflix series universe, and today we have four new official photos from the series to share with you. They feature the characters Danny Rand/Iron Fist (Finn Jones), Colleen Wing (Jessica Henwick), Claire Temple (Rosario Dawson), Joy Meachum (Jessica Stroup), and Ward Meachum (Tom Pelphrey).

Fifteen years after being presumed dead in a plane crash, Danny Rand (Finn Jones) mysteriously returns to New York City determined to reclaim his birthright and family company. However, when a long-destined enemy rises in New York, this living weapon is forced to choose between his family’s legacy and his duties as the Iron Fist.

I really liked what I saw in the first trailer, and I hope that we get another trailer soon showing off even more footage. After Iron Fist is released the superheroes will come together to fight alongside each other as The Defenders

The series also stars David Wenham and Carrie-Anne Moss. Marvel's Iron Fist will hit Netflix on March 17th, 2017.

Jackie Chan Set to Star in Joe Carnahan's New Action Film FIVE AGAINST A BULLET

Jackie Chan is set to star in a new action movie called Five Against A Bullet, which is being developed by Joe Carnahan. Carnahan is the absolutely crazy director that has brought us films such as Smokin' Aces, The A-Team, The Grey, and Stretch. The guy has a tendency to do some insane things in his movies, so the fact that Chan is teaming up with him for an action movie makes complete sense.

Carnahan has been working on this project since 2014, and the story is set in a small Mexican town that is under attack by a drug cartel. It follows five "world-weary bodyguards who are signed on to protect a Mexican politician after his father is murdered by a cartel, ahead of an election."

Jackie Chan is set to play one of these bodyguards, and there's no doubt we'll get to see him involved in some incredibly badass fight sequences and stunts. As of right now, Carnahan is only attached as a writer on the film, but there's a good chance that he'll end up directing it.

Chan has a few other movies in development that will be coming out called Railroad Tigers, Bleeding Steel, and The Foreigner, so make sure to keep an eye out for those!

Michael Bay Explains Why He Won't Direct a Marvel or DC Movie

Marvel Studios and DC Entertainment have managed to attract some talented filmmakers to make movies for their comic book superhero characters. Christopher Nolan, Kenneth Branagh, Sam Raimi, Joss Whedon, James Gunn, James Wan, Jon Favreau, Joe Johnston, and David Ayer are just a few directors who have worked on these films.

There's no doubt that there are lots of directors out there trying to land a gig at Marvel and DC, but Michael Bay is not one of those directors. He has no interest in directing that kind of films, and when talking to Collider in an interview, he explained why:

"I wouldn't want to, it's not my thing, it's just not my gig. I don't ever wanna take someone like a third of something or second of something. I gotta do my own thing, because the most fun is when a real director creates the world. You know, you talk to Ridley Scott, one our favorite things to do is to create the world. Steven Spielberg, create the world. That is what it's about. If I were to do something I would have to redo it my way."

I can appreciate that. With Transformers he was given the freedom to create whatever kind of universe that he wanted to create. If he were to jump in and direct a Marvel or DC movie he would be held back by the limitations that have been set by the studios. For the most part, the films made have to fit in with an already existing universe. But then you look at what Gunn did with Guardians of the Galaxy, and he got to create that universe from the ground up in the same way that Bay got to build Transformers. Bay clearly just doesn't want to continue something started by someone else.

You know what I would like to see Bay do? I'd love to see him completely rebuild the G.I. Joe film franchise, because I think he would be perfect for that! I think he'd do a better job with that than with Transformers

What do you all think about Bay's thoughts on not directing a Marvel or DC movie?

Pixar's Upcoming Animated Film COCO Gets a First Poster and Story Details

pixars-upcoming-animated-film-coco-gets-a-first-poster-and-story-details

Disney has released the first teaser poster for Pixar's upcoming animated film Coco, and they've also revealed the voice cast along with synopsis detailing the story. Coco is the only film that Pixar is releasing in the next few years that isn't a sequel to an already existing property. The other films currently in development are Cars 3The Incredibles 2, and Toy Story 4.

Up until this point, the only thing we've known about Coco is that it is being directed by Lee Unkrich (Toy Story 3), and that the story would revolve around the Mexican holiday of Día de los Muertos. Now we have a more detailed synopsis that you can read below:

“Despite his family’s baffling generations-old ban on music, Miguel (voice of newcomer Anthony Gonzalez) dreams of becoming an accomplished musician like his idol, Ernesto de la Cruz (voice of Benjamin Bratt). Desperate to prove his talent, Miguel finds himself in the stunning and colorful Land of the Dead following a mysterious chain of events. Along the way, he meets charming trickster Hector (voice of Gael García Bernal), and together, they set off on an extraordinary journey to unlock the real story behind Miguel’s family history. Character actress Renée Victor also joins the cast as Abuelita, Miguel’s grandmother.”

Coco will be released on November 22, 2017, and I included a previously released image for you to check out below.

You Can't Trust Count Olaf in the New Trailer for Netflix's A SERIES OF UNFORTUNATE EVENTS

$

I haven't read any of Lemony Snicket's A Series of Unfortunate Events, but I remember thinking there was untapped potential in the story after seeing the Jim Carrey movie in theaters. Netflix must have thought the same thing, because they've adapted the books into a series that begins streaming on Friday, January 13, 2017. Neil Patrick Harris is playing the villainous Count Olaf this time around, and Netflix has released a second full trailer for the show that puts his goofy villain front and center, giving him a ton of face time (albeit with a variety of different faces, since his character has a predilection for wearing disguises).

What do you think about the new trailer?

Will Smith Gives BAD BOYS 3 Update and Explains Why He's Doing Another Sequel

I recently re-watched the very first Bad Boys movie, and I forgot how awesomely entertaining it was! It was a great film, with great and fun characters, and it actually got me really excited for Bad Boys 3.

Will Smith recently appeared on Jimmy Kimmel Live and was asked if the film was going to start shooting in March of next year, which is what Martin Lawerence told Kimmel recently. Smith didn't confirm the that, but he did say:

"It is very, very, very close. It is very, very close. It's very close. ... We do one a decade!"

Smith went on to talk about why he decided to come back to the franchise after all these years to do another one saying:

"Let me tell you, I love that dude. That's among the best times I've ever had making movies. So I'm looking forward to it."

"That dude" he's referring to is Lawrence. They had such great chemistry together in these films, and they are absolutely hilarious. It'll be a blast to see them back together again in another action-packed comedic adventure.

As you know, Michael Bay is the filmmaker that brought this action franchise to life. However, since he's focused on Transformers all the time, the directing reins for the third film have been handed to The Grey and Smokin' Aces filmmaker Joe Carnahan. I couldn't think of a better director to take on the challenge. I think he's going to give us something completely insane!

Watch the Hacksmith Create and Test His Prototype BATMAN Grappling Hook!

Out of all the Batman bat-gadgets in existence, I have to believe the most popular is his grappling hook. Currently, handheld grappling hooks don't exist in real life, but the Hacksmith is on his way to making them a reality! The video ends with him testing the propulsion of the device and teasing us that he has another video that will bring the ability to pull the user with enough force up to the location!

It sounds cool in theory, but something tells me getting pulled violently up to a location with only your hand attached to the device could end many unpleasant ways...

  1. You lose your grip on the ground and the grappling hook goes sailing up without you to the top of some inaccessible roof.
  2. You lose your grip on the ascent and take a hard fall.
  3. You dislocate your shoulder due to the force of the pull and the weight of your body.
  4. Your limbs flail crazily as you ascend causing you to crash into the building and fall.
  5. The wall you're attached to gives due to the weight and you fall.

I'll keep my hope alive for now, Hacksmith, but you have some serious work to do in that second video to prove that this will actually be viable!

Will Ferrell Set to Star in eSports Comedy for Legendary Pictures

For those of you who haven't been paying attention, eSports is exploding right now! It's one of the fastest growing sports, and there are no signs of it slowing down. Legendary Pictures is looking to cash in on the popularity of competitive gaming by developing a movie centered around it.

According to Deadline, Will Ferrell is attached to star in the comedy, and It's not hard to imagine how it's going to play out. According to the report, the story centers on Ferrell's character, who is a member of a professional eSports team. He's also "an anomaly in a sport where players usually retire in their 20s due to slowing hand-eye coordination."

Two of the worlds top eSports teams are also in talks to join the film production. Those teams are Evil Geniuses and Fnatic. If you're not that familiar with eSports, there are players as young as 15 years old, and there are teams that battle it out for millions of dollars of prize money.

Michael Kvamme and Jordan Dunn will write the script. They are both currently working on SpongeBob Squarepants 3

I've been casually following eSports for a couple years now, and there are a lot of elements of it that will make for a great comedy. With Ferrell on board, I'm sure it's going to be full of fun laughs. You can watch the actor play video games below!

Video Explores the Evolution From Donald Glover to Childish Gambino

There's no denying it, Donald Glover is a renaissance man. His pedigree ranges from first finding viral appeal with Derrick Comedy back in the day, writing for 30 Rock, becoming the new Lando Calrissian, writing and directing his own hit series Atlanta, and becoming an accomplished artist in the music industry. A week ago I would've said "accomplished rapper," but his latest album Awaken My Love is about as much of a departure from rap as you can get...and it's still awesome.

How did one man accomplish so much? As you can see from this video below, it was a constant grind. Since college, he's been working on developing his career and it's paid off dividends for him now. Love or hate him, you have to respect what he's done...and he's only 33!

This cool video found by Uproxx really breaks down his evolution as a musical artist in a great way, check it out!

Han Solo Frozen in Carbonite Inside Your Desk May Be a Little Distracting

For a lot of us, it's easy to get distracted at work. There are so many things competing for our attention at all times — social media, that article you've been wanting to read for the past few days...the collective knowledge of the entire human race is always just a series of clicks away, so it can be tough to concentrate. One distraction most of us don't have, though, is a face staring up at us in frozen anguish from the middle of our desks.

If you're the kind of person who could deal with having Han Solo frozen in carbonite looking up at you as you type away or make PowerPoint presentations or whatever, then more power to you — this desk seems like it'd be a great fit for you. Me? I think I'd just feel bad all day, as if I was the one who trapped Han in the first place and refuse to let him go free. Regardless of the practicality or distraction implications, I have to admit it's still a pretty freakin' cool desk. Tom Spina Designs created this for a Grammy-winning recording artist, and the artist (someone named Mark Hall) apparently auctioned it off and raised $10,000 for charity. Not bad! Thanks to GeekxGirls for pointing it out.

Ice Cube and Charlie Day Go Head to Head in New FIST FIGHT Trailer

$

Fist Fight has one of the simplest, most boiled down premises I've seen in a long time: a tough teacher wants to fight a wimpy teacher after school. It's funny because they're the adults, guys! They're supposed to be the responsible ones! But there's nothing responsible about tying a teacher's leg to a horse and having the horse drag him through the hallways...it's hilarious, sure, but nowhere near responsible. In fact, more than anything else, that single moment is what has me interested in this movie at all — it's an inventive, ridiculous bit of physical comedy that seems to be a step above, oh, I don't know, Seth Rogen landing on an airbag in the Neighbors movies or whatever American comedies are trying to pass off as "crazy" unexpected moments these days.

Fist Fight stars Ice Cube, Charlie Day, Christina Hendricks, Jillian Bell, Kumail Nanjiani, Tracy Morgan, and more, and it hits theaters on February 17, 2017.

On the last day of the year, mild-mannered high school English teacher Andy Campbell (Day) is trying his best to keep it together amidst senior pranks, a dysfunctional administration and budget cuts that put jobs on the line. But things go from bad to worse when he accidentally crosses his much tougher and deeply feared colleague, Ron Strickland (Ice Cube), who challenges Campbell to an old-fashioned throw down after school. News of the fight spreads like wildfire and ends up becoming the very thing this school, and Campbell, needed.

Watch: Homemade Shot for Shot Remake of The ROGUE ONE Trailer

The team at Cinefix is back with a new shot-for-shot remake video, and this time they've turned their attention to the trailer for Gareth Edwards' upcoming Rogue One: A Star Wars Story. There's something about the homegrown feel of these videos that really resonates with me and reminds me of the best parts of Be Kind Rewind (the movie that kicked off the "sweding" trend). I'm always impressed with what they're able to pull together with such limited resources (like that great K-2SO), and it just goes to show that right now is a great time for anyone who has a camera phone and some simple editing software to be able to create cool stuff whenever they want.

It's also fitting that this video is celebrating a Star Wars movie, since the original Star Wars is basically ground zero for today's filmmakers having the "a-ha" moment that they wanted to get in the movie business, with many of them making home videos with production values similar to this one in their backyards and kicking off a love of making movies that would last a lifetime.

Rogue One hits theaters on December 16, 2016.

DIVERGENT's Shailene Woodley to Star in Shipwreck Drama ADRIFT

Actress Shailene Woodley has been making headlines for her political activism surrounding the Dakota Access pipeline lately, but now it appears the Divergent series star has a new movie lined up that has the potential to earn her some more acclaim for her work in front of the camera. Deadline reports that she'll star in Adrift, a new shipwreck film that's being referred to as "Gravity on the high seas."

Adrift is the true story of Tami Oldham and her fiancé, Richard Sharp, two young lovers and expert sailors who set out from Tahiti to sail around the world. Unfortunately, they sailed directly into a massive hurricane in the middle of the Pacific Ocean when they were over a thousand miles from land, and during the chaos, Tami was knocked unconscious. When she woke up, the boat was destroyed and both the life raft and Richard were gone. (Stop reading now if you don't want to know what happened to her in real life.) Improbably, Tami managed to overcome a head wound and a lack of food and water and somehow survived for 41 days as she sailed 1,500 miles to safety and landed in Hawaii.

What an insane story! Deadline says the film "has been pitched as an epic, romantic, uplifting account of how one woman’s great love helped her survive long odds, an inspiring reminder that even in our darkest moments, we are never alone." Sounds like a sure-fire crowd-pleaser and maybe even an awards contender. Aaron and Jordan Kandell wrote the screenplay on spec, Everest director Baltasar Kormakur is attached to direct, and the film is searching for a distributor and financier before a deal officially comes together to get this one off the ground. It should be cool to see Woodley — an actress I've liked since seeing her in The Spectacular Now a few years ago — in a survival thriller like this. What do you think?

DEXTER and IRON FIST Vet to Take on Marvel's THE INHUMANS as Showrunner

Marvel and ABC have hired Scott Buck to take on their ambitious Inhumans project. Buck is best known for working on shows such as Six Feet Under and Dexter, and he was most recently the showrunner on Netflix's Iron Fist series.

Even before taking on Iron Fist the guy had a solid track record with working on great shows as a writer, producer, and showrunner. Marvel obviously liked working with him on Iron Fist, and he obviously came to them with a great idea and an epic vision for The Inhumans, especially if they decided to bring him back on.

The first two episodes of The Inhumans series will be completely shot in IMAX and will premiere in theaters on IMAX screens on September 1st, 2017. The story is said to focus on Black Bolt and the Inhumans royal family. The series will make its TV debut on ABC on Tuesday, September 26th, 2017, and it will consist of eight episodes.
