JONN WICK Director David Leitch Is Confirmed to Helm DEADPOOL 2

Last month it was rumored that John Wick co-director David Leitch was in the running to replace Tim Miller as the director of Deadpool 2. Well, Deadline just confirmed that he has signed on helm the film, which I know fans will be very happy about.

There were a few other directors up for the gig such as Drew Goddard (Cabin in the Woods) and Magnus Martens (Luke Cage), but Leitch, who had 20 years of stunt coordinator and stuntman experience before he made John Wick, beat them out.

I'm excited to see what Leitch does with Deadpool 2! We can definitely expect the action in the sequel to be a lot better and crazier than the first one. I think Leitch is going to be a great fit for the franchise, and I'm really happy that he's going to be taking it on.

We don't have any plot details for the sequel yet, but we know that Cable will be making his big screen debut in the movie, which is going to be awesome! Deadpool 2 is scheduled to be released on March 2, 2018.

Can you spot the hidden Mickey in Bosslogic's fan art of Frozen's Elsa as Harley Quinn? It's pretty easy to find. Bosslogic is always whipping up fun mashup pieces of art like this. Just for the hell of it, I also included a Frozen-inspired Harley Quinn song called "Do You Want to Kill the Batman?" which is the caption that came along with the image above.

Teaser Trailer for Takashi Miike’s Supernatural Martial Arts Thriller BLADE OF THE IMMORTAL

Takashi Miike, the director of films such as 13 Assassins, Audition, and Yakuza Apocalypse, has a new film coming out called Blade of the Immortal. The supernatural martial arts thriller centers on an immortal swordsman who will not be able to lift his curse of everlasting life until he kills 1000 evildoers with the cut of his steel.

I've enjoyed all of Miike's films that I've seen, and I'll be looking forward to this one as well. Judging by this brief look, it looks like an exciting cool concept that could turn out to be a really good movie. I need to see more footage, though!

The film is set to open in Japan on April 29, 2017, and there's currently no domestic release date.

Japan’s On-Art Corporation has created some awesomely intense T-rex costumes that are actually kind of terrifying. They were created for a Jurassic Park-inspired theme part called Dino-A-Live.

These ginormous dinosaur costumes are built from carbon fiber and foam. They are 26-feet-long and weight 84 pounds. Oh, and they can be controlled by a single person. You can watch a video of them in action below, and they feature them attacking people.

Sandy Collora Is Kickstarting a Book of Awesome Art From His SHALLOW WATER Film

sandy-collora-is-kickstarting-a-book-of-awesome-art-from-his-shallow-water-film1

Sandy Collora, the director of Batman: Dead End, recently completed shooting his horror adventure short film "Shallow Water." This is a film that he was able to make with the help of his fans through Kickstarter. He is currently in post-production, and as a fan of Collora's work and his art, I can't wait to see how the film turns out!

As the filmmaker is completing his project, he has launched a new Kickstarter campaign for a book he's put together featuring a ton of awesome development art for the film! It's called The Art of Shallow Water: A Short Book About a Short Film. If you're like me and you enjoy seeing the concept art, key art, maquettes, costumes, storyboards, and other forms of development art for movies, this is a must have book because it contains art from one of the most talented guys in the industry.

sandy-collora-is-kickstarting-a-book-of-awesome-art-from-his-shallow-water-film2

This is what Collora had to say about the book and why he decided to put it together:

Ever wonder how much design and artwork goes into even the smallest of independent genre films? Well, I'm gonna show you...
This small, but packed magazine style book will chronicle the adventure and process that has been the past six years of my life, called "Shallow Water". It has been through many phases and started and stopped more times than I can remember. Now that it's done, I feel a book containing all the art, showing the thought process that got me here, would be interesting and also make a nice companion volume to my series of creature design books.
"Shallow Water", like most of my films, began as a bunch of doodles and sketches that eventually turn into more detailed renderings and maquettes. I tend to create stories visually before I put pen to paper or should I say fingers to keyboard-- I take all the drawings I do and pin them up on the walls of my studio all around me, then I start writing and build the story around what I've developed visually.
I'm an artist. I was an artist before I started making films and I'll always be an artist. The camera is an extension of my body, just like a pencil, paint brush or sculpting tool. Film, I feel is the natural evolution for me-- an outlet to tell my stories visually through a moving medium.
This book will contain a lot of the preliminary drawings and stuff that I used to conjure up the idea of "Shallow Water". It will include everything from the roughest of doodles to the finished creature suits, on set photos and everything in between. There was a ton of artwork generated in the almost six years it's taken to bring this little film to the screen and it's all here, crammed into this little book.

If you want to pledge any money to the Art of Shallow Water book, click here. If you do, there are a bunch of cool rewards involved, which you can see on the Kickstarter page. Below you'll find a couple other images and a video.

Trailer for DONNIE DARKO's 15th Anniversary 4K Restoration Release

Donnie Darko is a favorite film of mine. Director Richard Kelly did something absolutely incredible with this film, everything from the insanely twisted story, the beautiful cinematography, and Jake Gyllenhaal’s awesomely haunting performance.

In celebration of the 15th anniversary of the film, Arrow Films has done a 4k restoration of both the theatrical edition and the director’s cut. They will be screening these restored films in London next month, and they will include Q&A's with Kelly.

This mind-bending cult classic gets a loving restoration. October, 1988. In the middle of the night, a man in a monstrous rabbit suit appears to Donnie Darko (Jake Gyllenhaal), a troubled teenager living with his family in suburban Virginia, to tell him that the world will end in 28 days, 6 hours, 42 minutes and 12 seconds. And so, a cult movie is born. As Donnie’s grip on reality weakens, we’re drawn into the darkness that lurks underneath the surface of suburbia. Underappreciated upon its initial release in 2001, Richard Kelly’s mind-bending film gets the 4K restoration treatment and is ripe for rediscovery on the big screen.

There's no word on when the restoration copies of the film will be available in the United States, but I assume it will eventually get a date. While we wait, you can watch a trailer for the the Donnie Darko restoration below.

Robert Downey Jr. Will Direct Anthony Michael Hall in SINGULARITY Series Pilot

Robert Downey Jr. is set to make his directorial debut with the pilot episode of an upcoming TV series called Singularity. What's cool about this is that the series stars Anthony Michael Hall and as many of you know, Downey Jr. and Hall starred together in the classic John Hughes film Weird Science

Over the years they've also worked together on 1988’s Johnny Be Good and 1994’s Hail Caesar, and the 1985-1986 season of Saturday Night Live. I love that that they will be working together again!

There are no details on what this series will be about, but it's cool to see Downey trying something new with directing. Downey is also producing the series with his wife Susan Downey through their Team Downey Productions. They have a first-look deal with Sonar Entertainment.

Their production company is currently involved with developing Sherlock Holmes 3, a Perry Mason HBO series, and a feature film adaptation of the Black Mirror episode “An Entire History of You.”
