Striking New Series of POWER RANGERS Character Posters1

While we wait for the first Power Rangers trailer to be released this weekend at NYCC, we have a series of five new character posters featuring the members of the team. They come from a motion poster that was recently released by IGN and we also included that below.

I'm just excited to be able to see some actual footage of the Rangers in action! I like the new designs of their suits but I want to see what they look like in action! I hope the trailer also gives us at least a glimpse of the Megazord.

Saban's Power Rangers follows five ordinary high school kids who must become something extraordinary when they learn that their small town of Angel Grove – and the world – is on the verge of being obliterated by an alien threat. Chosen by destiny, our heroes quickly discover that they are the only ones who can save the planet. But to do so they will have to overcome their real-life issues and band together as the Power Rangers before it is too late.

The Rangers you see here include Dacre Montgomery as Jason the Red Ranger, RJ Cyler as Billy the Blue Ranger, Naomi Scott as Kimberly the Pink Ranger, Becky G as Trini the Yellow Ranger, and Ludi Lin as Zack the Black Ranger. Elizabeth Banks also stars in the movie as the main villain, Rita Repulsa, and Bryan Cranston is playing Zordon.

The Power Rangers will jump into action when the movie is released on March 24, 2017.

Watch: Actor Absolutely Nails These Hilarious Celebrity Nano-Impressions

Looks like Vanity Fair has a lock on excellent celebrity nano-impression videos. They released two videos of The Walking Dead's Ross Marquand doing some killer ones a little while back, and now they're at it again, this time with actor Jim Meskimen. I didn't recognize the actor's name, but take a look at his list of credits — the dude's been in a little bit of everything over the past twenty-plus years.

He nails a very high percentage of these impressions — the only one I didn't think was completely spot-on was Morgan Freeman, but other than that, these are very impressive. What do you think?

Actor From Disney's AUSTIN AND ALLY Set To Star as Jeffrey Dahmer in MY FRIEND DAHMER

Ross Lynch, aka Austin Moon from Disney Channel show Austin and Aly, is going to play cannibal serial killer Jeffrey Dahmer in a new movie. MoviePilot writes that Ross, who was also in the Disney TV movie Teen Beach, will be the star of the upcoming film My Friend Dahmer. The film is based on a graphic novel written by Derf Backderf who was friends with Dahmer in high school.

A fansite on Instagram posted a picture of Lynch and Dahmer side by side, and the resemblance is definitely there:

It's pretty uncanny how similar they look... #myfrienddahmer #rosslynch

It used to be if you wanted to get noticed past your Disney kid tenure, you went into music like Britney Spears, Christina Aguilera, Justin Timberlake, Selena Gomez, Demi Lovato...there's a long list. Now I think some actors are trying what I call the "Miley Cyrus" method, which is completely shock the world with some weird shit so they don't look at you as "that kid actor" anymore. Really, this was technique was first started by Aguilera, but not that many people really remembered her from the Mickey Mouse Club when she first hit the scene.

I think what's more important than taking on a shocking role is doing it well. Yeah, Miley went off the rails, but she also made a pretty awesome album with two pretty huge singles. Can Ross Lynch deliver a stellar performance as Jeffrey Dahmer? We will see.

Video: Blooper Reel For Season One of AMC's PREACHER

(Apologies for the auto-play.)

As you've probably already seen above, Crave Online has released a gag reel for season one of AMC's comic book TV series Preacher. I thought the first season took a long time to get going after the pilot, and if I hadn't read the comic beforehand, I'm not convinced I would have been hooked enough to keep watching based solely on what the show was doing week to week. But there's definitely a ton of potential there, and now that the finale ended the way it did, there's a lot of opportunity for the characters to move forward without being dragged down by a single location like they were in season one.

Preacher is coming back to AMC sometime in 2017.

William Shatner Voicing Two-Face in BATMAN: RETURN OF THE CAPED CRUSADERS Sequel

In case you didn't know, the upcoming animated feature Batman: Return Of The Caped Crusaders already has a sequel on the way! The film, which features Adam West and Burt Ward along with the classic '60s Batman style, is due out October 11th. Now THR reports that William Shatner will be joining the sequel and providing the voice of Two-Face.

The '60s Batman never featured Two-Face — nor Shatner, as he was busy doing Star Trek at the time — so it's perfect. I have to wonder what a '60s era Two-Face would look like in the style of the show. Apparently, the world got its answer in "Batman '66 The Lost Episode #1," but I unfortunately can't find a picture to show you guys.

For some reason, I just imagine him in a zoot suit with a mask over one part. You can't make it too grotesque or it doesn't fit the spirit of the old series! Anyone have a picture or know the comic so we can get a visual of what to expect?

HBO is Developing Green Day's AMERICAN IDIOT Movie

The punk rock band Green Day has been trying to get their American Idiot movie off the ground since the album's release in 2004. Well, it looks like it's finally going to happen! Frontman Billie Joe Armstrong recently revealed that HBO is backing the project and that he'll be reprising his own Broadway role as the character of St. Jimmy. He explains:

"That’s the plan right now, yeah. We’ve got a green light from HBO, and the script is currently going through a couple of rewrites here and there, so I’m not sure when exactly we’re going to start shooting, but it’s definitely all systems go at the moment."

I'm excited that this American Idiot movie is actually happening! I've been a fan of Green Day since I was in junior high school, and American Idiot is a brilliantly written album. It's a punk rock opera that tells a coming of age story about three small-town boys. One joins the armed forces, another moves to the city and takes up drugs, the third stays home and gets his girlfriend pregnant.

Back in 2011, Tom Hanks jumped on board to produce it and in 2013 playwright Rolin Jones came on board to write and polish up the script. I assume Hanks is still attached as a producer as he has strong ties with HBO, which seems like the perfect home for a project like this. I can't wait to see how it turns out!

THE SCREAMING SKULL: Fun 1950s Horror Movies to Watch During Halloween

the-screaming-skull-fun-1950s-horror-movies-to-watch-during-halloween1

Since it’s October and the Halloween season is upon us, I thought it’d be fun to talk about some of my favorite horror films that come from the 1950s. There’s a certain charm about these old-school movies that I absolutely love. I especially enjoy watching them during Halloween with friends and family. I thought I’d recommend a few of my favorites to you over the next couple of weeks. You may have seen some of these films that I talk about, but if you haven’t, you really need to check them out! If you have, you can talk about them in the comments section below.

When I was growing up, I watched every horror movie I could get my hands on and I was introduced to some of the classics by my dad. I remember one day he found a VHS copy of a 1958 film called The Screaming Skull, which he said scared the hell out of him as a kid. This will be the first movie that I recommend to you.

We popped the movie in and it had us all laughing our asses off. Yeah, in the '50s it was meant to be scary, and it even came with a word of warning before the movie started. A narrator offeres a disclaimer as a coffin opens. He explains that the film's climax is so terrifying that it may kill the viewer, and he goes on to reassure the audience that if they do die of fright during the film, they will receive a free burial service. The camera then closes in on the casket which has a card inside reading "Reserved for You."

It just gets better from there! The film follows a newly married couple, Jenni and Eric, moving into the home of the Eric's late wife, Marion, who was killed after she accidentally slipped and hit her head on the edge of a pond at their home. The gardens at the estate are being maintained by a disabled gardener faithful to the dead woman's memory. Soon after they move into the house, eerie events start to happen involving a screaming skull, which Jenni believes is the ghost of his first wife, and this leads Jenni to believe that she's gone crazy. It also doesn't help that she had previously spent time in an insane asylum.

I love that the "scary" aspects of the film include a skull popping up around the house in certain places and at some points, it even just rolls around on the floor, which apparently was terrifying for people to see back in the '50s. It’s wonderfully hilarious! Who knows, maybe one day Hollywood will actually remake this thing. If they do, it has to be done as a serious horror film because it would make the premise that much funnier.

The film is actually based on horror story written by Francis Marion Crawford, but it is never credited. The story was first published around 1906. Crawford's inspiration for his tale came from folklore surrounding the so-called "screaming skull" that was kept on display at Bettiscomb Manor in Dorset, England. This skull that inspired both the story and the movie is said to be that of a black slave whose request for burial in his native country was denied following his death, and it's said that there were strange occurrences and unexplainable shrieking noises that came from the wooden box in which the skull was kept.

The full film is available to watch for free on YouTube and it’s a great film to watch at a Halloween party with a group of friends. I included the embed for the film below along with the trailer.

Now Ben Affleck Says THE BATMAN is Not The Official Name For His Solo Film

Ben Affleck is saying he was misquoted in a recent interview and that the Batman solo film does not yet have a title. Batman News says the actor cleared the air in a recent interview with E! News after it was reported he had titled his upcoming film The Batman:

“I mentioned the other day… it’s been around for a long time, the movie… there is no Batman movie happening yet, we’re still trying to figure it out, you know, get the script and budget and all that stuff...And someone said, ‘what are you calling it?’ and I had said, like, back when we were promoting another movie, I was like ‘we don’t have a name for it, we’re just going with The Batman or Batman movie’, and I said that, and everyone was like ‘Affleck announces the title of his Batman movie.’”

Looks like the headlines jumped the gun on this one. I'm not all that disappointed as titles of films don't hype me up much. I think we were all just so psyched to be getting any information we could about the new solo film that we got super excited about something that doesn't matter that much. That's likely a product of the age of a thousand teasers for films.

ARCHER's Eighth Season Will Take Place in 1947

The end of Archer is coming after its tenth season, but we still have three (shortened) seasons to go before Adam Reed's animated spy series airs its final episode. After the shocking events of the season seven finale (spoiler alert: it appeared that Sterling Archer died face down in a pool, Sunset Boulevard-style), we now know where the series is going in season eight — or, more appropriately, when it's going. According to IGN, season eight will be called Archer: Dreamland and take place entirely in 1947. Here are some details about what exactly we'll see:

In this 1947 timeline, for instance, Sterling Archer (H. Jon Benjamin) is no longer a spy, but rather a private investigator on the hunt for the person who murdered his old partner, Woodhouse - George Coe, the actor who voiced Woodhouse in earlier seasons passed away in 2015.
Thanks to the time shift, Lana Kane will meet Archer for the first time yet again, although in this reality, it will be as a lounge singer. Actress Aisha Tyler promised the audience that she did all her own singing.

Sounds great to me — I love how the show is constantly reinventing itself, even if sometimes the concept works much better than others. (The less we say about country singer Cherlyne and that whole season, the better.)

Archer moves to FXX and will debut its eighth season sometime in 2017.

New JUSTICE LEAGUE Sizzle Reel Gives Us a Behind The Scenes Look at The Action to Come

Director Zack Snyder went on Twitter today and shared a brand new behind the scenes video featurette of his Justice League cast and crew and their time filming in the UK, and it gives us a good idea of the kind of footage we'll see from the eventual movie:

Those shots of Batman falling from the sky and Aquaman looking like a badass as water explodes all around him are pretty rad, and it looks like everyone had a lot of fun making this movie. Let's hope they were working from a great script, because we all know Snyder can make a movie look good, but if the story isn't there, there's only so much he can do on the visual side of things.

Justice League opens a little more than year and a month from now, on November 17, 2017.

DEATH RACE 2050 Trailer: Roger Corman is Back with a Low-Budget Sequel to His Cult Classic

Roger Corman, the legendary producer who has over 400 credits to his name and mentored directors like James Cameron, Joe Dante, and dozens of others, is back with a sequel to Death Race 2000, the cult classic he produced back in 1975. This one's called Death Race 2050, and as you might expect, it takes place fifty years later but retains the premise of the original: there's a race, and drivers get points for taking out pedestrians (and bonus points for wiping out the elderly). The original is a fun piece of satire that was perfect for its time, but I'm not quite sure if that sort of skuzzy charm will still be in tact in a version made in 2016.

(Note: this appears to be a direct sequel to the '75 original, which means it probably ignores the events of the Death Race remakes.)

Death Race 2050 stars Manu Bennett (Arrow, Spartacus) as Frankenstein, as well as McDowell (A Clockwork Orange) as the Chairman, Burt Grinstead (NCIS), Marci Miller (Viper), Folake Olowofoyeku (The Beaver), Anessa Ramsey (Footloose), Yancy Butler (Hard Target), and Charlie Farrell (Cantar).

The film hits Blu-ray, DVD, and Digital HD on January 17, 2017.

At New York Comic Con, BBC America has unveiled first look trailers for Doctor Who's upcoming Christmas special and the new spin-off series, Class. Let's take a look at them one by one.

First up is the Christmas special, titled "The Return of Doctor Mysterio." The New York-set episode involves the Doctor (Peter Capaldi) running into a superhero played by Justin Chatwin. Check out the trailer and a photo of Chatwin in costume below:

And next up, they've released the first teaser trailer for Class, the young adult-centric spin-off in which Capaldi will appear as a guest star. Though he won't be appearing in this show often, he definitely has a major impact in this trailer, as you'll see below:

I frankly don't know much about the Doctor Who universe, but both of these trailers look like fun to me. If you're a fan and want to listen to people who really know their stuff when it comes to content from this universe, you should listen to the Doctor Who-centric podcast Bad Wolf Radio over at PodTyrant. Awesome Full Trailer For UNDERWORLD: BLOOD WARS Shows Selene as a Super Vampire

I don't know about you, but I'm pumped up about Kate Beckinsale's Underworld: Blood Wars! Screen Gems has released a new full trailer for the film which premiered at NYCC earlier today, and this looks like it's going to be a fun and kick-ass new chapter in the franchise. It offers a ton of new footage and reveals more of the storyline which sees Selene turn into a super vampire.

The next installment in the blockbuster franchise follows Vampire death dealer, Selene (Beckinsale) as she fends off brutal attacks from both the Lycan clan and the Vampire faction that betrayed her. With her only allies, David (Theo James) and his father Thomas (Charles Dance), she must stop the eternal war between Lycans and Vampires, even if it means she has to make the ultimate sacrifice.

Underworld: Blood Wars was directed by Anna Foerster (Criminal Minds, Outlander), who is also known for her cinematography work on films such as Independence Day, The Day After Tomorrow, and White House Down

Underworld: Blood Wars is set to be released in theaters on January 6, 2017.

Alice Battles Insanity in Full Trailer For RESIDENT EVIL: THE FINAL CHAPTER

Screen Gems has released an official full trailer for Resident Evil: The Final Chapter and it features Milla Jovovich out for revenge and battling what looks to be complete insanity. It looks like director Paul W.S. Anderson went all-out on this thing and this franchise could very well end on a badass note. I haven't really cared for the past couple of Resident Evil films, but I have to admit that this looks like it's going to be a blast.

Picking up immediately after the events in Resident Evil: Retribution, Alice (Milla Jovovich) is the only survivor of what was meant to be humanity’s final stand against the undead. Now, she must return to where the nightmare began – The Hive in Raccoon City, where the Umbrella Corporation is gathering its forces for a final strike against the only remaining survivors of the apocalypse.

Resident Evil: The Final Chapter was directed by Paul W.S. Anderson and stars Milla Jovovich as Alice, Ali Larter as Claire Redfield, Ruby Rose as Abigail, William Levy as Christian, Eoin Macken as Doc, Rola as Cobalt, Lee Joon-gi as Commander Lee, and Iain Glen as Dr. Alexander Isaacs.

Resident Evil: The Final Chapter will hit theaters on January 27, 2017.

Listen to The Official FANTASTIC BEASTS Theme Song, Which is Tinged With a Little Harry Potter Magic

I must admit, I'm not fully sold on Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them yet. I know the diehard Harry Potter fans were hooked from the first minute the project was announced, but I didn't think the original Potter movies were perfect, so it's going to take a little more convincing to get me intrigued enough to want to check this out. (Note: Of course, I realize it's going to make some serious money at the box office regardless, but I'm hoping it's actually a good movie, not just a successful one.)

I didn't love all of the Potter movies, but John Williams' score was pretty fantastic, especially the iconic theme. Watertower Music (via io9) has just unveiled the official theme song for the film, and though it comes from a different composer — James Newton Howard — it kicks off with a hint of that familiar theme before flowing nicely into a completely new piece of music with a life of its own.

What do you think? I'm sort of digging this!
