STAN AGAINST EVIL Trailer Looks Like IFC's Version of ASH VS. EVIL DEAD

I wonder if the executives at IFC are mad that they missed out on Ash vs. Evil Dead? This trailer for the network's new show Stan Against Evil certainly indicates that's the case, because the tonal similarities are pretty obvious from the get-go. Scrubs all-star John C. McGinley is playing the Bruce Campbell-esque role in this series, in which he stars as a former police chief who reluctantly teams up with his female replacement in order to save their small town from the demons who are haunting it.

What do you think about this one, horror fans? Stan Against Evil has a special sneak peek of the premiere on Halloween night at 11pm, and the first two episodes officially air on November 2 at 10 and 10:30pm.

Stan Against Evil follows Stan Miller (McGinley), a perpetually disgruntled former sheriff of a small New England town who was forced into retirement. Stan has trouble relinquishing his authority to Evie Barret (Janet Varney), the tough and beautiful new sheriff in town, but they form an unlikely alliance when both begin to realize things are not quite right in their quaint New England town. Together, they valiantly fight a plague of unleashed demons that have been haunting the town, which just happens to be built on the site of a massive 17th century witch burning.

Forest Whitaker Cast in Marvel’s BLACK PANTHER

Marvel Studios and director Ryan Coogler (Creed) have cast Forest Whitaker in the upcoming Black Panther! I don't need to tell you how talented Whitaker is, the guy is going to make a great addition to the film.

According to Variety, Whitaker will take on the role of Zuri, who is described as being "an elder statesman in Wakanda." He will be joined by Daniel Kaluuya and Florence Kasumba, who also recently joined the cast of the film. Kasumba was in Captain America: Civil War, and she will reprise her role as Ayo, a member of the Dora Milaje. As for Kaluuya, he will play W’Kabi, a confidant of T’Challa.

These actors join Michael B. Jordan, Lupita Nyong’o, Danai Gurira, and of course, Chadwick Boseman, who will be back in the badass role of T’Challa. Black Panther is set to be released in theaters on February 16th, 2018.

Ant-Man vs. Hawkeye in CAPTAIN AMERICA: CIVIL WAR Concept Art

The cool Captain America: Civil War concept art continues to roll in with a new piece from Andy Park. It features Ant-Man fighting against Hawkeye. This is the second piece of concept art showing Ant-Man on the side of Team Iron Man fighting against Team Cap, because that was probably what would have happened if Spider-Man had not joined the MCU. The first piece showed Ant-Man fighting Captain America. It's kind of fun and interesting seeing Ant-Man fighting on the other side. He belongs on Team Cap, though!

Hotel Transylvania is a fun animated franchise from Samurai Jack creator Genndy Tartakovsky. Mavis is Dracula's daughter in the films and this cosplay of the character created by xiaorouseeu is freakin' incredible. It's so well done that it's a bit creepy because it looks exactly like the CG animated character!

I really wish that McDonald's would actually do a line of horror movie-themed Happy Meals for Halloween. Unfortunately it will never happen, but thanks to graphic artist Newt Clements, we can see what they might look like! He created a series of Happy Meal designs that represent horror properties such as Stranger Things, The Thing, Evil Dead, Misery, The Blair Witch Project, American Horror Story, Critters, The Texas Chainsaw Massacre, IT, Silent Hill, The Wolfman, and more. Each one comes with a toy prize!

First POWER RANGERS Trailer Focuses on the Team Gaining Their Powers

$

0

The first teaser trailer for the upcoming Power Rangers has been released, and it focuses on the team gaining their powers. As you'll see, the movie has a completely different tone than the original series. For example, it seems like the Rangers are a group of troubled teenagers that go to a shitty high school. It's like The Breakfast Club but with Power Rangers.

I was hoping to see the Power Rangers in action or a glimpse of a Zord, but that didn't happen. We do get a few shots of the team testing out their new powers, a brief glimpse of Elizabeth Banks' Rita Repulsa, and then a shot of Jason morphing into the Red Ranger at the end. I was kinda disappointed with the trailer, but I'm sure we'll get a better one later on.

Saban's Power Rangers follows five ordinary high school kids who must become something extraordinary when they learn that their small town of Angel Grove – and the world – is on the verge of being obliterated by an alien threat. Chosen by destiny, our heroes quickly discover that they are the only ones who can save the planet. But to do so they will have to overcome their real-life issues and band together as the Power Rangers before it is too late.

The Rangers you see here include Dacre Montgomery as Jason the Red Ranger, RJ Cyler as Billy the Blue Ranger, Naomi Scott as Kimberly the Pink Ranger, Becky G as Trini the Yellow Ranger, and Ludi Lin as Zack the Black Ranger. Bryan Cranston is playing Zordon.

Power Rangers hits theaters on March 24th, 2017.

Creepy Mind-Bending Trailer For The Horror Film EVOLUTION

creepy-mind-bending-trailer-for-the-horror-film-evolution

If you're a fan of trippy horror movies that screw with your head, Evolution looks like a film you've got to see! This thing looks like a bizarre nightmare of insanity. The movie is being described as a cross between the styles of David Cronenberg and Jacques Cousteau. I really have no idea where this story leads, but I've gotta see it!

This eerily seductive mind-bender is a dark, dreamlike descent into the depths of the unknown. Ten-year-old Nicolas (Max Brebant) lives in a remote seaside village populated only by boys his age and adult women. But when he makes a disturbing discovery beneath the ocean waves—a dead boy with a red starfish on his stomach—Nicolas begins to question everything about his existence. What are the half-remembered images he recalls, as if from another life? If the woman he lives with is not his mother, then who is she? And what awaits the boys when they are all suddenly confined to a hospital? The long-awaited new film from the acclaimed director of Innocence is awash in the haunting, otherworldly images of a nightmare.

Evolution gets a limited theatrical release on November 25th.

What The Hell is Going On in This New Trailer For THE GREAT WALL?

Universal Pictures debuted the full trailer for the upcoming action epic The Great Wall at New York Comic Con, and they've now released it online.

Guys...what the hell is going on here? Not just plot-wise, but in the actual filmmaking techniques, too. Is it just me, or do all of Matt Damon's lines sound like he's been replaced by a voiceover actor? And I don't know if it's just sketchy editing or what, but to me, it looks like 50% of the dialogue doesn't match the actors' mouths as they're speaking.

While there are definitely some dazzling colors on display here and some visually interesting shots (though World War Z should get a paycheck for how blatantly that last shot rips them off), from a story perspective, this one's not really doing much for me. What do you all think?

The Great Wall hits theaters on February 17, 2017.

Starring global superstar Matt Damon and directed by one of the most breathtaking visual stylists of our time, Zhang Yimou (Hero, House of Flying Daggers), Legendary’s The Great Wall tells the story of an elite force making a valiant stand for humanity on the world’s most iconic structure.  The first English-language production for Yimou is the largest film ever shot entirely in China.  The Great Wall also stars Jing Tian, Pedro Pascal, Willem Dafoe and Andy Lau.

JOHN WICK: CHAPTER 2 Teaser Trailer Looks as Great as the Original

We finally have a trailer for John Wick: Chapter 2, and it looks as wild and wonderful as the first one. The sequel sees Keanu Reeves headed to a party in Rome (with his new dog, natch) with plans that go beyond dancing and eating canapés. I don't know who or what pissed him off this time, but it looks like we are in for more awesomely brutal fight scenes.

John Wick: Chapter 2 also stars Common, Ruby Rose, John Leguizamo, Bridget Moynihan, and Ian McShane, plus reunites Reeves with Laurence Fishburne. "The man, the myth, the legend" returns to theaters on February 10, 2017.

Sigourney Weaver Will Be the Villain in Marvel's THE DEFENDERS

$

0

Tonight at the Netflix and Marvel NYCC panel, Marvel’s Head of Television, Jeph Loeb, announced that Sigourney Weaver will be playing a “significant but unspecified” role in the upcoming team up series The Defenders. Or at least, Marvel’s official site is calling it unspecified, but everyone else on the planet is saying she will be the villain. I wasn’t in the room, but people who were say she was specifically announced as the villain, although no details about which villain were given.

Also at the panel, Jon Bernthal confirmed the news that Deborah Ann Woll’s Karen Page will be in The Punisher series currently shooting, and Charlie Cox, Krysten Ritter, Mike Colter, and Finn Jones — or as you might know them, Daredevil, Jessica Jones, Luke Cage, and Iron Fist — teamed up for the first time on stage.

Weaver is obviously an immensely talented actress who seems to have “Play a major character in every sci-fi or fantasy franchise in the world” on her bucket list. You just got one step closer, Sigourney.

Which villain do you think she’ll be playing?

Marvel's IRON FIST Teaser Trailer "The Final Defender Arrives"

$

The final hero for Marvel's upcoming The Defenders just got a teaser trailer at New York Comic-Con. Iron Fist will continue to expand the mystical side of the Marvel cineverse. The teaser trailer gives us a few bits of action and a glimpse into Daniel Rand's, aka Iron Fist's, past. Finn Jones as the title character really looks like he's pulling off the choreography. I wonder how much his final look will match the comics.

This partnership between Netflix and Marvel is one of the best things to happen for geek television. While the shows lack the large budget to create the scope and spectacle of the movies, they have the time to really develop the characters. Think about it, we've had 26 hours of Daredevil, versus say Iron Man, who's been in 6 films for around 12 hours. If Marvel doesn't use the Defenders in Avengers: Infinity Wars it will be a huge missed opportunity, especially with Netflix's global footprint.

Iron Fist will hit Netflix on March 17, 2017.

Here's an amusing Batman comic strip created by Neil Kohney from The Other End. It's called "Alfred's Secret Shame" and it looks like Batman's old friend likes to play dress up in Robin's costume. I love the look on Alfred's face when Batman uncomfortably walks in on him.

STAR WARS Veteran Warwick Davis Will Be in STAR WARS: EPISODE VIII

$

Warwick Davis started his acting career in the '80s when he played the Ewok Wicket in Return of the Jedi. He has since appeared in Star Wars: The Phantom Menace, he played an alien named Wollivan in Maz Kanata’s cantina in Star Wars: The Force Awakens, and will also appear in Gareth Edwards' Rogue One: A Star Wars Story. He has now confirmed that he also has a role in Star Wars: Episode VIII.

Davis recently appeared on News.com.au for an interview and while there he was asked if he would have a role in Star Wars: Episode VIII, and this is what he said:

“I do, yes. That’s all I can say.”

I guess this shouldn't come as a surprise. It seems like he's become the good luck charm of the Star Wars franchise. Most of his roles in these film since he played Wicket are fairly small, but it's cool that Lucasfilm keeps asking him to come back. I'm sure he'll have a place in every Star Wars movie that gets made from here on out. The actor went on to tease what is to come in the franchise, saying:

“There were some wonderful moments, some moving moments and it was full of all the action that we expect, so for me it ticked all the boxes, I loved it. And I think it sets up the trilogy very well. Obviously we’re moving into the territory of Episode VIII very soon as well, and much like Empire Strikes Back I’m sure it’s going to deliver some quite impactful story moments, and it’ll leave us with some cliffhangers as well which resolve in Episode IX.”

This is just a small portion of a much larger interview that is worth reading, especially if you're a fan of the actor. He talks about his past with Star Wars, watching Stranger Things, and more.

Star Wars: Episode VIII hits theaters on December 15, 2017.
