Wildly Fun Rockabilly DC Villainous Cosplay for Harley Quinn, Poison Ivy, and Catwoman

I’m a big fan of the DC rockabilly universe that was started by the fans. It gives the characters such a fun and unique look. I believe it all started with a series of art created by Denis Medri back in 2012. Since then, we’ve seen a ton of DC-inspired rockabilly art and cosplay. You can see a lot of the stuff we previously posted involving this stuff here.

This latest group of cosplayers include the three main femme fatale's of the DC universe: Harley Quinn (Meg Turney), Poison Ivy (Chloe Dykstra), and Catwoman (Michele Morrow). The photos you see here were taken by Greg De Stefano. As you can see, the characters are wonderfully designed and they perfectly fit the 1950s rockabilly vibe.

I actually really do need to get myself a new spatula. I might as well make it a Star Wars-inspired one based on the design of Darth Vader’s lightsaber. There's nothing better than flipping pancakes and burgers than with the power of the dark side. The spatula is available at ThinkGeek for only $15. Here’s the description they offer:

AN ELEGANT SPATULA FOR A CIVILIZED AGE
In times of peace, your favorite Star Wars fan can use this Lightsaber Spatula for cooking things up on the dark side. But remember to wield this deadly weapon with care. It's been known to remove a hand (or two)!
Whether you are making some chocolate cookies for your little Wookiees or some dark, sticky cinnamon buns for your warrior princess, this metal spatula is the perfect tool. The handle is designed after Darth Vader's personal lightsaber and the spatula features a laser-cut Star Wars logo. Basically it's flippin' perfect.

10 Comic Book Movie Villains with Shocking Secrets You Need to Know

Here’s a fun video from ScreenRant that focuses on comic book villains in the movies. Every superhero has to have a super villain. This video breaks down some of the things that you might not know about some of these villains that include Harley Quinn, Deadshot, Enchantress, Steppenwolf, Apocalypse, Doctor Doom, Loki, Thanos, and more.

If you are an avid read of comic books then there’s probably nothing new here for you to see, but if you are only familiar with the movie versions of these characters, then it’s worth the watch.

Comic book superheroes are some of the most popular characters in fiction. Batman, Superman, the Avengers, the X-Men and the Fantastic Four are just some of the kind of examples we're referring to when we say that. But, of course, superheroes wouldn't be what they are without an antithesis - and they come in the form of supervillains.Supervillains are actually some of the most interesting and complex characters going. Their motives for being evil, their aesthetic qualities, and their powers and abilities vary to the extent that no two are truly the same - and some are every bit as popular as their heroic counterparts as a result. They've transcended the comic book genre, along with the heroes they antagonise, to appear in movies, television shows, video games and various other media platforms. But exactly how much do you know about them? We think there are some facts about the best supervillains out there that might just surprise you. Here are ten things you didn't know about some of your favourite superhero's villains.

POKEMON GO and SAILOR MOON Cosplay Mashup

This group of cosplay friends got together to create a fun cosplay mashup that combines the awesomeness of Pokémon Go with the cuteness of Sailor Moon. The result is an adorable cosplay crossover that any fan of these properties will enjoy.

In celebration of International Sailor Moon Day and National Friendship day this past weekend, me and my talented friends all got together a group of Sailor Scouts as they would be imagined as Pokemon Go Trainers! This idea was thought up by Pudding Cosplay and Photography. We had been planning to be Sailor Moon Pokemon trainers off some fan art we saw back in April, but with the release of the new Pokemon Go game a month ago, she realized that the new trainer designs would very easily go along with the Sailor Scout colors! We quickly got to work and Felicia Dark helped us develop our own custom patterns for this! AlyCat Cosplay created everyone’s belts! Everyone put in a huge amount of effort to collaborate and make their cosplays themselves! We reached out to Chiseled Light Photography to take all of our photos and he did such an amazing job bringing our idea to life! We had so much fun doing this idea together because Sailor Moon means so much to each of us and we are very involved with playing Pokemon Go all the time!

New Promo Spot For SCREAM QUEENS Season 2: “Oh. My. Gauze.”

I actually kind of enjoyed the first season of Scream Queens. I liked how over-the-top it was because it gave the series a certain charm that we don’t really see in other shows. It didn’t blow me away or anything, but it was fun to watch.

We’ve got a new promo spot for Season 2 for you to check out today featuring John Stamos, Taylor Lautner, Jamie Lee Curtis, Emma Roberts, Abigail Breslin, and Billie Lourd.

The second season is set in “a hospital where some of the most fascinating and bizarre medical cases are under observation.” Stamos will play Dr. Brock Holt, “the hospital’s brilliant but secretive head surgeon,” and Lautner plays a doctor named Cassidy Cascade, “who suffers from a strange medical condition and becomes a suspect when a series of tragic events plagues the institution.”

The series is set to premiere on September 20th.

New AMERICAN HORROR STORY Season 6 Promos Feature Strange Creatures

FX has released a couple of new promo spots for American Horror Story Season 6. These are more interesting than the ones that have been released so far because they feature creepy-ass creatures lurking around.

All of the promo trailers that have been released for Season 6 so far are being used as misdirection. FX CEO John Landgraf talked about this at the Television Critics Association press tour earlier this week, saying:

“They made many more trailers than you’ve actually seen for hypothetical seasons of American Horror Story, different genres. They’re really fun and funny and artfully made. One of them is accurate. The others are all misdirects. We’re just having fun with it. All I can say is there is a theme, a setting, a place and time but we’re not going to reveal it.”

So out of all of the promo spots that we're going to see for Season 6, only one of them actually pertains to the series. He went on to say:

“We decided, Ryan and I and Stephanie Gibbons, our massively talented head of marketing, that it would just be really fun this year. Every year we’ve laid out the themes and new genre. We thought it’d be really fun to keep it a mystery, so we are.”

I love that they are doing this and that they are keeping it a mystery! It will make things fun for the fans. I've been enjoying it! This latest promo that you're about to watch below is my favorite. It'll be interesting to see what Murphy actually has planned for the series! To check out the previously released promos, click here.

Kevin Smith Reveals The Title of His SUPERGIRL Episode To Be “Supergirl Lives”

Those of you who are familiar with the history of Kevin Smith and the projects he’s worked on in his career know he wrote a script for a Superman film back in the day called Superman Lives. Well, the filmmaker is set to direct an episode Supergirl this upcoming second season, and he revealed that the title of the episode was a homage to the film that he wrote all those years ago. The title of the episode is "Supergirl Lives." Smith made the reveal on his Fat Man Batman podcast, saying:

Andrew Kreisberg told me that the name of the episode is 'Supergirl Lives.' I'm gonna cry talking about this. The name of the script I wrote back in 1996 was called Superman Lives. That's what they do over at that fucking Berlanti-verse. They make magic.”

He went on to say that he might get to work with Superman in the episode, and then he disgustingly described how he would like to thank Kreisberg for giving him this opportunity.

“I might get to play with Superman. They added Superman this year. You know how fucking mind bending this is for me? I was never gonna direct that Superman movie, but I did write it back in the day. To be able to work on the show where it's like 'Go direct Superman.' Come on, man. I owe Andrew Kreisberg the sloppiest fucking blowjob ever committed to a dick in history.”

If I were Kreisberg, I’d hide! Smith's episode of The Flash was fantastic, and I think it’s awesome that The CW is bringing him back to take on another episode of The Flash and an episode of Supergirl

DEADPOOL 2 Fan Art - Kyle Chandler as Cable and Mackenzie Davis as Domino

Over the weekend it was rumored that Kyle Chandler (Friday Night Lights) was wanted for the role of Cable in Deadpool 2 and that Mackenzie Davis (The Martian) was wanted for the part of Domino. In case you were wondering what these actors might look like as these two characters, Boss Logic has whipped up some fan art giving us some visuals to help our imaginations. I initially liked the idea of both actors in these roles, but after seeing the art of Chandler as Cable, it doesn’t seem to work. I love him as an actor, but he just doesn’t seem to have that look that Cable needs. I don’t know, though. If the filmmakers do want him in the role, they obviously have an idea in mind that makes Chandler work for their version of the character. What do you think?

Felicity Jones Explains How Her ROGUE ONE Character Is an Unlikely Heroine, Plus a New Photo

felicity-jones-explains-how-her-rogue-one-character-is-an-unlikely-heroine-plus-a-new-photo1

Last week we got a new full trailer of Rogue One: A Star Wars Story, and fans were blown away by it. The trailer offered us an awesome tease at what’s in store for us. I can’t wait to see this movie, but it’s not like I have a choice.

Thanks to EW, we have a new photo to share with you of Felicity Jones’ character Jyn Erso, and she also gave an interview in which she talked about the type of character that she's playing. Director Gareth Edwards also had a few things to say about why he cast Jones in the role.

She began by talking about one of her initial meetings Edwards saying:

“We were both working at the time and we met at something like 5:30 a.m. in a hotel restaurant. Most of the meeting was conducted in whispers as he explained the story and the character. My first introduction was definitely one shrouded in secrecy and being very careful no one overheard what we were talking about.”

When talking about her character, Jyn Erso, she explained why she is an "unlikely heroine."

“She is absolutely a very unlikely heroine. She’s someone on the edges and fringes of society. Physically, she’s smaller than everyone else around her, but… when someone has something they believe in, that’s what powers them, that’s what motivates them, that’s what can give someone enormous strength.”

I’ve gotta say, Jones looks amazing in this role, and it seems like she’s a perfect fit for this character. While talking to EW, Edwards talked about why he ended up casting Jones in the role saying he chose her because she wasn’t “so kick-ass and shields-up that the audience couldn’t empathize with her.” He went on to say:

“There were a lot of people who could learn how to fight and beat people up and do the physical side of it. For me, the most interesting thing is when there’s a crack in the armor, when you can glimpse the vulnerability in someone. You can just hang the camera on Felicity and not say a word, and you can feel her having a million different thoughts. You get interested in what she’s thinking and what’s going on. She can be very observant within a scene. It doesn’t always have to be about her directly, but we’re experiencing it through her. She just has that knack for pulling you in.”

There’s still so much that we don’t know about this movie and Jyn Erso, but whatever it is that is going to be revealed in the story, I’m convinced that it’s gonna be awesome!

I don’t know about you, but I’ve been completely obsessed with Netflix’s Stranger Things. I’ve been loving all of the fan-produced stuff that has been popping up online. Today we have a series of fan-made vinyl figures based on the characters from the series include Mike Dustin, Eleven, and even the Demogorgan. The figures were created by @Kibooki, who is the guy behind Funko’s Vinyl Idolz toy line. These aren’t official toys, though. He just made them to flaunt his fandom. Who knows, though! Maybe somewhere down the line Funko will release a set of them. I would personally love to see Hot Toys create a series of figures based on these characters. They should totally jump on the opportunity if they haven’t already! While we wait for any kind of official action figures to be released for this series, enjoy the image below. If you want to check out more of Kibooki’s work, head on over to EvilCorp.TV

McG Says He’s “Laser Focused” on MASTERS OF THE UNIVERSE and Discusses Film’s Tone

$

Hollywood has been trying to get a new live-action feature film adaptation of Masters of the Universe off the ground for years. Unfortunately, the most recent director attached to it is Terminator: Salvation director McG, who I’m not a big fan of. The guy is a mediocre filmmaker that has no business making a movie based on He-Man. We haven’t heard much about the project since it was announced he’d be directing the movie, and I hoped that he would have dropped out of the project, but that’s not the case. In a recent interview with IGN the director says he’s currently prepping the film and that he’s “laser focused” on it.

“It’s a very exciting moment for Masters of the Universe. We have a big meeting with Sony regarding prep of the movie on Wednesday. And we’re in the middle of a bit of a script polish, and it’s my absolute passion. I’m laser-focused on that being my next film. But I mean, you know how it works in contemporary filmmaking. You really, really have to earn the good will of the parent studio, and Tom Rothman runs a tight ship at Sony, and we’re going to get there. I’m so happy to report that to the fans.”

Well, for the sake of fans, I hope the meeting goes terribly and that Tom Rothman wants to go with someone other than McG. When asked about the tone of the film, the director said they are basically looking to try and emulate what Marvel is doing with their films:

“I think we want to honor the fan base, first and foremost. We also need to be cognizant of the incredible resonance of what Kevin Feige is doing with Marvel, and the balance of full-bodied entertainment. That it’s both credible and emotional, action-packed, and the story of a hero’s journey. It’s the genesis of He-Man, it’s the becoming of He-Man. We want it to be clicking on all cylinders in that regard. We’re not going to stop until we get it right. Listen, I love that movie with Frank [Langella] and Dolph [Lundgren]. I watch it, and it’s a tremendous pleasure for me to watch. I’m raised on the toys, and I’m down at Mattel all the time. We’re just really focused on getting it right. I want it to be full-bodied entertainment that respects the fan base, and is more emotional than you might imagine, inventive and original. Obviously, we’re all cognizant of what’s going on with Game of Thrones. It’s incredible. We’re cognizant of what’s going on in Guardians of the Galaxy. James Gunn’s doing a great job. We’re going to try to answer the call and take it higher.”

That sounds encouraging, but he was saying the exact same things about honoring the fanbase when he made Terminator: Salvation, and we all know how that turned out. Who knows, maybe McG will surprise us, but I’m not going to hold my breath.

McG went on to say that they haven’t cast anyone in the film yet, but that he likes Kellan Lutz in the role of He-Man. The actor has been in talks for the role.

“We haven't cast the role yet, but I like Kellan very much. Obviously, we need a talented entertainer, but we also need a certain physicality, which he embodies. He'll be considered very, very closely. We haven't gotten to the casting process yet. Kellan's a good guy, and we had a great meeting, and he's passionate about He-Man, he's passionate about the Adam story. He really knows a lot about it. I was charmed by his focus and intensity. He'll be considered very, very carefully. We're just not there yet. We've got to get the movie on its feet, then we'll cast the movie.”

Lutz hasn't really impressed me in any film that he’s been in. He's really not that good of an actor, so the fact that McG is even considering him or thinks he is a “talented entertainer” is scary. The director goes on to say that the story is largely set in Ethernia, which is a step in the right direction.

At one point in the interview McG is asked if Prince Adam and He-Man will be two different people, and he wouldn’t say. I don’t know why. It’s not like it’s a big spoiler that Prince Adam is a scrawny little dude and He-Man is a massive hulking badass man. They’ll either cast two different actors to play each role or they will do the same kind of VFX used to make Chris Evans look scrawny in Captain America: The First Avenger. I just assume that’s the direction they’ll go.

As of right now, the production team are currently doing make-up tests for the characters. It’ll be interesting to see the character and costume designs they’ve come up with for the film, especially the villains because they are all so crazy looking.

I have no idea what to expect from this. All I know is that I obviously don’t have the confidence in McG to make the awesome He-Man film that fans deserve. What do you think? Am I being too hard on the guy?

Jay Hernandez Wants to Come Back as El Diablo in SUICIDE SQUAD Sequel

I have no idea if David Ayer is going to get to make a sequel to Suicide Squad. I hope Warner Bros. eventually greenlights it because these are characters I would love to see explored more on the big screen. If there is a sequel, Jay Hernandez hopes that he’ll get to reprise his role as El Diablo.

If you’ve already seen Suicide Squad, then read ahead. If not, I am about to get into some major spoiler territory regarding El Diablo.

El Diablo was one of my favorite characters in Suicide Squad. The character has a very dark past and he did some terrible, unforgivable things, but he redeems himself in the end by sacrificing himself to save his team. Since El Diablo does die at the end of the film, it might be hard for Hernandez to return. Apparently, the actor didn’t know his character was going to bite the dust. In an interview with ComicBook.com he said:

“It was interesting, because there were some changes that happened later on. I didn’t know that’s how the end was going to happen, early on. For me, it was important to make it good, make it impressive, and go out in a blaze of glory. Ultimately, I think it worked to give it some meaning, some emotional weight to the end of the story.”

I thought it is was the perfect end for the character, but Hernandez hints that we may not have seen the last of him.

"Of course there is [a chance he could return]! I’m not saying anything, just that it’s a possibility.”

Anything is possible in the comic book world. If Superman can be brought back to life then so can El Diablo. But sometimes characters should stay dead so that the emotional weight of their sacrifice is real. El Diablo was set up to be the sympathetic moral center of the team. During one of the more emotional scenes of the film, he tells the story of how he accidentally killed his family with his powerful abilities. When talking about that scene Hernandez said:

“It was the scene I was most focused on. I wanted to make sure, because a lot of the story hinges on that moment. It’s the moment the Squad is sort of galvanized. Before that, it’s a bunch of just random people and everybody has their own goal and direction, they hate each other, some are plotting to kill each other. After that, they sit down and they realize this is it, this is their shot or not, and they decide to do the honorable thing. I think part of why that happens is the opening up of Diablo, who has been closed off for the whole movie up to that point. It was a pivotal moment, and a really important scene for me.”

Then the character went out in a blaze of glory to protect his team and help save the world. As much as I liked the character, I think El Diablo should stay dead so his sacrifice really means something. What do you think?

Witness Godzilla's Destructive Atomic Power in New GODZILLA: RESURGENCE Trailer

We've got another trailer for Toho's Godzilla: Resurgence for you to watch. It gives you a little taste of the insane chaotic atomic powers of the giant creature. Not only do you get to see Godzilla's atomic breath, but there are a few other surprising abilities that the giant monster has that will be causing some epic destruction. This Godzilla has atomic lasers shooting out of his back! Watch the trailer and see it for yourself! One thing is for sure, this is a version of Godzilla that's not to be reckoned with.

I absolutely love what I've seen of Toho's Godzilla: Resurgence film, and it looks even better than Legendary Picture's 2014 film that was directed by Gareth Edwards. This is the 29th Godzilla film from Toho, and it looks so freakin' awesome! If you are a longtime fan of Godzilla then you have every reason to be excited about this new movie.

Godzilla: Resurgence was directed by Hideaki Anno and Shinji Higuchi, who directed the live-action Attack on Titan movies. The movie is set to be released in Japan on July 29th, 2016. There's no official U.S. release date that's been announced yet, but the movie is being released here in the U.S. by Funimation. Watch the new trailer, which is for the Philippines, and tell us what you think.

Marvel’s DOCTOR STRANGE is Pulling “Some Shit Out No One’s Ever Seen Before”

marvels-doctor-strange-is-pulling-some-shit-out-no-ones-ever-seen-before2

I’ve got incredibly high hopes for Marvel’s Doctor Strange film. This is one of my favorite Marvel characters ever and from what I’ve seen, it looks like director Scott Derrickson has pulled off something special. I just hope the movie ends up being as great as the trailers make it out to be.

You’ve all seen the trailers, so you know that this movie is going to be a very different film than anything Marvel has done before. In an interview with EW, Derrickson spoke about the film's visuals:

“All I will say is that the movie deals heavily with other dimensions… There was a fair amount of surrealist art and photography and M.C. Escher that played into the visual design of the movie. The ambition was to use cutting-edge visual effects to do things that are fresh and new — to not just blow things up.”

Tilda Swinton, who is taking on the role of the Ancient One in the film, expands on that, teasing that Marvel is going to give us stuff no one has ever seen before:

“My home is in experimental cinema. I’ve always worked with people who are messing with stuff. Marvel is going to pull some s— out no one’s ever seen before.”

I believe we’ve only gotten a taste of the insane visual effects this movie has to offer, and I’m truly excited for what Marvel, Derrickson, and their production team have come up with to bring this world to the big screen. When talking about the main villain of the film, Kaecilius, who is being played by Mads Mikkelsen, the director said:

“I wouldn’t call him a villain, and Mads [Mikkelsen] won’t call him a villain… He has a very compelling point of view that Doctor Strange is confronted with in the movie. That, to me, is what makes a good opponent for the hero of a story.”

Kaecilius seems like an interesting looking and compelling villain. The Marvel universe could really use another good villain. One of the main things I hear fans complain about in regards to the Marvel films is their weak villains. Hopefully, Mikkelsen’s version of Kaecilius will impress.

Marvel’s Doctor Strange follows the story of the talented neurosurgeon Doctor Stephen Strange who, after a tragic car accident, must put ego aside and learn the secrets of a hidden world of mysticism and alternate dimensions. Based in New York City’s Greenwich Village, Doctor Strange must act as an intermediary between the real world and what lies beyond, utilizing a vast array of metaphysical abilities and artifacts to protect the Marvel cinematic universe.

Doctor Strange also stars Benedict Cumberbatch, Chiwetel Ejiofor, Rachel McAdams, and Benedict Wong. It will open in theaters on November 4th.

Auralnauts has created an absolutely hilarious video imagining what it would be like if The Force Awakens villain Kylo Ren watched the new trailer for Rogue One: A Star Wars Story. We know Kylo has a bit of a temper, so I expected some sort of outburst, but what I didn't expect is just how good the vocal effects sound here. They managed to recreate the effect to a near-perfect recreation of how Adam Driver sounds in the movie! The commentary is pretty damn funny, too. Check it out:

There has been a bunch of talk about Fast 8 in the past week because of the comments made by Dwayne "The Rock" Johnson about how some of his male co-stars were acting unprofessional, and eventually word came out that he was beefing with franchise stalwart Vin Diesel. There were a few more updates in this brewing drama, but it quickly started to feel too much like behind-the-scenes gossip that we don't enjoy writing about, so we checked out of the conversation and let it run its course. Besides, if the movie turns out to be great, none of that stuff really matters anyway.

Last Friday, the movie's Facebook page shared a cast photo with most of the major cast members in it and teased that the first trailer is coming in December:

Hopefully all of this drama doesn't have a negative effect on the film, which I'm still very much looking forward to. Now if you'll excuse me, I'll be living my life a quarter mile at a time until Universal delivers that trailer as an early Christmas present.

We've already heard that the use of CGI was limited in favor of practical effects and real stunts in the upcoming Assassin's Creed movie. Star Michael Fassbender previously spoke about his stunt double pulling off the iconic Leap of Faith jump:

"We've got Damian Walters doing a 120-foot leap of faith, without any rope, into a bag. It's pretty incredible to see."

Well, it was actually a 125-foot jump, and it's one of the highest free falls performed by a stuntman in almost 35 years. Thanks to a behind-the-scene video featurette for the film, you actually get to see Fassbender's stunt double pull this off and it's pretty incredible! I have a fear of heights, so something like this would scare the living shit out of me.

When I first heard Assassin's Creed was going to get a movie, I hoped that they wouldn't use CGI for all the jumping, leaping, and other parkour stunts that are a staple of the game. I love the fact that the filmmaking team actually went out of their way to plan out real stunts for this movie, and from what I've seen it looks like they've done some great stuff!

The film follows a character named Callum Lynch who, "through a revolutionary technology that unlocks his genetic memories, is able to experience the adventures of his ancestor, Aguilar, in 15th Century Spain. Callum discovers he is descended from a mysterious secret society, the Assassins, and amasses incredible knowledge and skills to take on the oppressive and powerful Templar organization in the present day."

Assassin’s Creed is set to be released on December 21st, 2016.
