Felicity Jones Talks About Training For ROGUE ONE and Jyn Erso's Place in The Rebellion

Following last night's reveal of the newest trailer for Rogue One: A Star Wars Story (check out a breakdown of screenshots and everything you might have missed in it right here), Entertainment Weekly caught up with actress Felicity Jones and spoke with her about what it was like training for the movie and what her character Jyn Erso's place is in the Rebellion.

“I’m laughing now, but at the time, it was physically exhausting. It took a lot of hours of practice, and I worked with a kung fu coach, and I learned to fight, even though I never thought beating up Stormtroopers was something I’d be doing in my job. It came through hard work and lots of practice and rehearsals. Physically, [Jyn is] smaller than everyone else around her, but…when someone has something they believe in, that’s what powers them, that’s what motivates them, that’s what can give someone enormous strength.”

I still remember being blown away by Jones' performance in Like Crazy at the Sundance Film Festival a few years ago, and I never would have thought that her star power would rise quite this quickly and she'd end up in a Star Wars movie. I know a lot of people still complain that they don't think Gal Gadot is physical enough to play Wonder Woman, and while Jones is smaller than Gadot, at least Jyn is a new character and she doesn't have to contend with people saying she's a bad fit for the role because she isn't jacked enough.

Jyn is the latest in the line of female characters who have played important roles in galactic events in the Star Wars universe, and the second behind The Force Awakens' Rey to be the main character in a Star Wars movie. What does Jones think about the role of women in the Rebellion?

“I would say there’s a huge amount of respect for women in the Rebellion. Mon Mothma is ultimately, for Jyn, someone she looks up to. So even as the film opens [Jyn] has a very strong female role model in front of her, and someone she respects. It’s vital. As we’re seeing in politics, it is a world where women are becoming leaders of nations, and films should be reflecting that.”

Rogue One: A Star Wars Story hits theaters on December 16th.

Video: Movie Moments Matched Up With Images From Their Posters

LaughingSquid pointed me to this cool video from French filmmaker Candice Drouet in which she matches specific images from a movie with the ones that appear on the film's poster. It's a cool concept for a video, and I don't think I've seen a one quite like this one before (or if I have, it's been so long I've completely forgotten). Check it out:

Who Ya Gonna Call When STRANGER THINGS and GHOSTBUSTERS Get a Mashup Video?

YouTube's Darth Blender has sent over a mashup called Strangerbusters, which — yup — mashes up Netflix's awesome new series Stranger Things and the original 1984 Ghostbusters movie. If you like both properties (and let's face it, that's probably 100% of you reading this right now), it might put a smile on your face to imagine what these characters would do if they inhabited each other's worlds. Check out the video below:

The Jokers' Movie Kill Count Video

“I can’t wait to show you my toys,” The Joker says, and boy does he have some toys. They don’t call him "The Jester of Genocide" for nothing. Mr. Sunday Movies created a supercut of the Joker's kills over the years. The count includes kills from animated and live-action films alike. Kills from movies like Batman (1989), The Dark Knight, and The Dark Knight Returns are included. You've gotta give it to him — the Joker can get creative in his methods. Check it out.

Robert De Niro and Julianne Moore Join David O. Russell’s '90s Cop Thriller TV Series

David O. Russell, the director behind films such as Three Kings, Silver Linings Playbook, and American Hustle, is creating a new TV series and he just cast Robert De Niro and Julianne Moore in the lead roles. That’s a pretty A-list cast for a TV show!

The news comes from Deadline who says that it’s a crime/cop thriller that will most likely be set in the 1990s. There’s no solid confirmation about if this will be a regular series or a limited series, but the site hears that it’s being designed to run multiple seasons.

The project is currently being shopped around to cable networks and streaming services. With talent like Russell, De Niro, and Moore involved, it shouldn't have a problem getting picked up somewhere.

With all the cable and streaming services out there, TV is getting better and better. The quality of the shows we’re seeing is incredible and I’m looking forward to seeing what comes of Russell’s latest project. The guy is a talented filmmaker who knows how to tell a great story with strong characters.

Cool GUARDIANS OF THE GALAXY Poster Art By Florey

It’s been awhile since we’ve seen some awesome art celebrating James Gunn’s first Guardians of the Galaxy film. We have a wicked cool piece to share with you today, though, and it comes from the artist Florey.

If you like what you see, the poster is available for sale on Grey Matter Art. It comes in a regular edition of blue and a variant edition of black.

Most of the Guardians of the Galaxy posters we’ve seen feature the whole team, but this one just focuses on Star-Lord drifting through space. I also love the addition of the Celestial head in the background!

Trailer For Nicolas Cage and Willem Dafoe’s Crime Comedy DOG EAT DOG

0
0

If you’re a fan of Nicolas Cage or Willem Dafoe, you’ve gotta watch this trailer for their upcoming crime comedy Dog Eat Dog. This movie looks completely unhinged! The movie was directed by Paul Schrader, who previously directed Cage in a film called The Cold Dying of the Light, which turned out to be a complete mess because the studio took it over and ruined it when they recut it. Schrader, who previously directed films such as Cat People, Auto Focus, and Dominion: Prequel to the Exorcist, had final cut on this latest project, so it turned out to be exactly what he wanted this time around. it looks like it could be fun, but it got mixed reviews when it premiered at the Cannes Film Festival, so we’ll just have to wait and see. I’m just on board with seeing Dafoe and Cage in a crazy movie together like this.

When three desperate ex cons are offered a job by a Mexican mob boss, they know they should refuse, but the payoff’s too rich to turn down. All they have to do is kidnap the kid of a colleague who’s ripping the mob boss off. But the abduction goes awry when the kidnappers are forced to kill an unexpected intruder who turns out to be the child’s father – the very man the mob boss intended to extort. Now unwelcome in the underworld and on the run for murder, the ex cons find themselves as the most wanted fugitives in the City of Angels. And each vows that none of them will ever go back to prison. No matter what the cost.

The film currently doesn’t have US distribution, so I’m not sure when we’ll get a chance to see it.

Absolutely Disgusting RESIDENT EVIL Birkin Stage 1 Mutation Cosplay

This is hands down the greatest and most disgusting cosplay that I’ve ever seen. This is a Birkin Stage 1 mutation cosplay from the video game franchise Resident Evil. It was created by Gai, and it’s amazing how awesome it turned out. The detail on this thing is ridiculous! This is as good as something you would see in a big-budget horror movie! Maybe even better than what you might see in a movie! I love it!

Closer Look at Spider-Man’s Web Shooters in SPIDER-MAN: HOMECOMING Set Photos

closer-look-at-spider-mans-web-shooters-in-spider-man-homecoming-set-photos33

A new photo has surfaced from the set of Marvel’s Spider-Man: Homecoming and it gives us a much closer look at the web shooters that Tom Holland’s Spidey will be sporting in the film. I have no doubt that these new web shooters came from Peter Parker’s new friend Tony Stark.

The Jon Watts-directed movie is set to be released on July 7, 2017. To see some previously released set photos, read up on some possible plot information, and catch up on any other news regarding the film, make sure to click here

I really hope we get some kind of teaser trailer soon. I loved the footage that screened at Comic-Con and I can’t wait for the rest of you to see it for yourselves!

Comedically Dark POKEMON GO PSA: Be Careful Out There While You’re Catching ‘Em All

As you’ve seen in the news, there are a lot of Pokemon Go players out there that aren’t paying attention as they are playing the game and a lot of people are getting hurt because of it. YouTube user A. Todd // Bellpond has created an amusing Pokemon Go PSA that was inspired by these accidents. It’s kind of a dark comedy, but it’s a big reminder to be careful out there and pay attention to your surroundings as you are trying to catch ‘em all.

When playing Pokemon Go, it hurts to admit when you make mistakes. But when the mistakes are big enough, the pain only lasts a brief moment.

My Favorite Movie Cameo is The T-1000 in WAYNE’S WORLD — What’s Yours!?

I was re-watching Wayne’s World recently because I hadn’t seen it in awhile and it’s one of those films that I like to revisit every now and then. One of my favorite parts of the film is when Wayne gets pulled over by Robert Patrick who makes a cameo as the T-1000 from Terminator 2: Judgment Day. This is one of my favorite movie cameos ever because how often do you get to see a crazy crossover like that!? The T-1000 exists in the Wayne’s World universe! That's pretty damn cool.

I just thought it would be fun to start a conversation about movie cameos and talk about what some of your favorite cameos are.

Artist Ruiz Burgos has created a series of great character portraits featuring the main kid characters in the Netflix series Stranger Things. Not only is the art well done, but I love the style of making them look like they were drawn on lined notebook school paper. The character features here include Eleven, Mike, Dustin, Lucas, and Will.

DEADPOOL 2 Rumor - Kyle Chandler and Mackenzie Davis Reportedly Wanted For Cable and Domino

It’s already been revealed that Cable will be in Deadpool 2 and it’s been speculated that Domino would also make an appearance. Fans have eagerly been waiting to see who exactly 20th Century Fox and director Tim Miller would cast in the role of Cable. There have been a lot of names thrown around for the role and a lot of fan art. Some of those names include Jon Hamm, Stephen Lang, Dolph Lundrgren, and Ron Perlman. We’ve now finally learned the names of two actors who might actually be up for the role of Cable and Domino.

la-ca-kyle-chandler-20150503-003.jpg
mackenzie-davis.png

On a new episode of Meet The Movie Press, the reliable Jeff Snider says that Kyle Chandler (Friday Night Lights, Bloodline) and Mackenzie Davis (The Martian) are wanted for the parts. He said:

"People were talking about Cable from Deadpool 2. There's been a name floating around for Cable for months, hasn't changed, don't know if it's changed. Didn't make any calls about this. This was just the name that has been out there for months. So take this with a gigantic grain of salt. The biggest grain of salt your tiny little brain can imagine. The name that is floating around for Cable right now is Kyle Chandler… The name for Domino, who is said to be the scene-stealer of the movie, is Mackenzie Davis."

I’m a huge fan of Chandler and he seems like a surprising choice for Cable. I never thought of him as being a potential actor to take on the role, but now that it’s been put out in the world, I love the idea of him the character. I think he’d be great! When previously talking about the kind of actor they would need to play Deadpool, screenwriter Rhett Reese said:

“Strength, gravitas, a purposefulness that Deadpool doesn’t have. Deadpool’s kind of got ADD, and we think of Cable as someone who locks onto something and is going to get that thing solved no matter what.”

The also said they were looking for someone “physically imposing”, which doesn’t seem to fit Kyle Chandler, but I assume that they’ll have him bulk up of the film if they actually did end up casting him.

As for Davis taking on the role of Domino, I’m totally on board with that. She seems like a talented enough and quirky actress to pull off the witty mercenary character. I’m happy to hear that Domino is actually going to be included in the film. This is the first time I’ve heard her the character involvement with the sequel outside of speculation.

What do you all think about Kyle Chandler and Mackenzie Davis possibly taking on these roles?

Brie Larson is Set to Star in and Direct an Indie Comedy Called UNICORN STORE

Brie Larson, who was recently confirmed in the role of Captain Marvel in Marvel Studios' upcoming film, is set to make her directorial debut with a new indie comedy called Unicorn Store. She will also star in and produce the film.

According to Variety, the story centers on “a woman who moves back in with her parents. She receives an invitation to a store that will test her ideas of what it really means to grow up.”

That’s a pretty vague summary, and I’m not sure what exactly it means, but I’m looking forward to finding out. The script was written by Samantha McIntyre and Larson is planning to start shooting the film in October.

It’s really cool to see young actors like this stretching their wings of creativity and trying new things like directing. Larson won a Best Actress Oscar for her role in Room, and she is also set to star in Kong: Skull Island, The Glass Castle, and Ben Wheatley’s Free Fire

It looks like Larson has a long and fruitful film career ahead of her.
