Remember when late night host Seth Meyers took Game of Thrones' Jon Snow to a dinner party? That was almost a year ago, and even though it turned out terribly, Meyers apparently hasn't learned his lesson.

Last night, he made the mistake of bringing his friend Melisandre (Carice van Houten) to a baby shower, and The Red Priestess frightens the guests with talk about how the night is dark and full of terrors. Check it out below:

MAN SEEKING WOMAN Blasted Entitled Nice Guys in Its Latest Brilliant Episode

This article contains spoilers for S2, E7, entitled "Cactus."

If you're not watching Man Seeking Woman, I urge you to check it out. I think it's one of the most underrated comedies on TV right now, and it certainly isn't getting the praise or attention it deserves. The premise of the show is genius: based on a book by creator and showrunner Simon Rich, it comically embellishes and literalizes aspects of life in order to make its points about life and love in your late twenties. (A quick example: The main character desperately wants to make a move on a girl he's interested in, but he's nervous and scared. They're watching a movie together on TV, when a breaking news bulletin interrupts the broadcast and informs them that a meteor is about to hit the Earth, and the anchors implore the viewers that if there's anything they're waiting to do, now's the time to do it. The meteor is diverted at the last minute, and the incident will likely never be referenced again. This kind of thing happens multiple times per episode.)

The show features a terrific lead performance from Jay Baruchel, who's brought shades of humor and soulfulness to his character that he's never been given the opportunity to play before. And like Seinfeld before it, practically every episode captures an essential truth about relationships or modern life that makes me shake my head in awe at how perfectly it managed to pinpoint that specific idea.

Case in point: this week's episode (Season 2, Ep. 7, "Cactus") takes on the concept of entitled nice guys in a way I've never seen on television before. Baruchel's character, Josh Greenberg, has a crush on a female co-worker named Rosa (Rosa Salazar), who's just broken up with her boyfriend. She and Josh are friendly at the office, and share a lot of the same interests, and he's secretly thrilled when he hears she's single because he thinks he's a shoo-in to be able to date her. He offers to help her move into a new apartment, thinking that'll give him a leg up against the competition (whom the show literalizes by showing a line of guys pining for her outside of their office building), but when he eventually does make his move, he's turned away; Rosa just wants to be friends.

Josh, upset about the "man hours" he's put into this would-be relationship, goes before (a hilariously sexist) Congress and gets them to pass a law that says that people must now date the person who's nicest to them. Considering this a win, Josh returns to his apartment, where a dirty homeless man holds the door open for him. Before he can seek out Rosa, the homeless man enters Josh's place and uses his new law against him. Josh was grateful for the man holding the door open, he's certainly not attracted to him, but that doesn't deter the man, who now expects Josh to have sex with him. Josh learns his lesson about entitlement, but has to deal with the consequences by lawfully being forced to date the homeless guy until the law is eventually repealed.

I can't remember seeing something like this on TV before. The series used its white male protagonist to explore a feminist concept in a way that didn't feel preachy, momentarily putting its main character (essentially) in a modern woman's position to allow him a much-needed change of perspective that ultimately benefits everyone — including the audience, who hopefully learned something if that lesson still needed to sink in.

Aside from being consistently hilarious, Man Seeking Woman is quietly revolutionary — yet another reason everyone should be watching this show. I'm dreading the idea that it gets cancelled and eventually becomes beloved when people finally stumble across it years later. Watch this show now and spread the word about it. Don't wait until it's too late.

Man Seeking Woman airs at 10pm, Wednesdays on FXX.

Three years ago we shared a great sci-fi short with you called Lost Memories. The movie was written and directed by Francois Ferracci and he recently released a sequel called Lost Memories 2.0. It is inspired by the technology that runs our lives and where that technology might lead us to. It's really quite fascinating and NSFW because there is some sexual content. Here's the synopsis:

The “Cloud” collapsed and destroyed all the digital data in the world a few years ago in an
electromagnetic storm. Since that monumental moment, the world has been slowly recovering, AD is now AC “After Cloud”. The "Cloud" has slowly been reactivated and interfaces revived. Marc goes in search of Karen, his wife, lover, partner, and best friend before the fall of the "Cloud" and now his lost love. In an ultra-connected world filled with hyper connected people, how do you find your one true love when the world is partially disconnected and you have lost her?

Just in case you forgot that Now You See Me 2 is coming later this year, Summit Entertainment has released six new character posters for you to check out. I really enjoyed the first movie regardless of how over-the-top and ridiculous it was. Magic is supposed to be over-the-top! I looking forward to this sequel and in case you missed the first trailer that was released for the film, click here to watch it.

In Now You See Me 2, The Four Horsemen (Jesse Eisenberg, Woody Harrelson, Dave Franco, Lizzy Caplan) return for a second mind-bending adventure, elevating the limits of stage illusion to new heights and taking them around the globe. One year after outwitting the FBI and winning the public’s adulation with their Robin Hood-style magic spectacles, the illusionists resurface for a comeback performance in hopes of exposing the unethical practices of a tech magnate. The man behind their vanishing act is none other than Walter Mabry (Daniel Radcliffe), a tech prodigy who threatens the Horsemen into pulling off their most impossible heist yet. Their only hope is to perform one last unprecedented stunt to clear their names and reveal the mastermind behind it all.

Now You See Me 2 will be released on June 10th, 2016.

Artist Marco D’Alfonso has created another great piece of Deadpool and Harley Quinn art for your viewing enjoyment. This guy loves drawing these characters and he always manages to doc something fun with them. This piece is called "Natural Born Killers," which is obviously a parody of the Oliver Stone movie, only this one teams up Ryan Reynolds' Deadpool with Margot Robbie’s Harley Quinn. This would be the greatest love story of all time!

10 Dark Theories That Completely Change Popular Kids Shows

It’s only until after you grow up that you are able to see some of the twisted darkness that is put into the shows that we grew up watching. ScreenRant has released a great video that highlight ten theories regarding certain kids series' that change the way we see them. Some of the shows included in the video are Spongebob Squarepants, The Tick, Winnie the Pooh, Pokemon, Saved By the Bell, and more. There are some great theories here, some of which I’ve never heard before.

When a TV show is being created with children in mind as the target audience, you would think that the message would be kept as light or clear-cut as possible. But when the kids who love those shows grow up, they start to see the straightforward stories, characters, and messages in a brand new light. Or darker than ever before. Here are Screen Rant's 10 Dark Theories That Completely Change Popular Kids Shows.

Best STAR TREK Captain Kirk and Mr. Spock Action Figures I’ve Ever Seen

Last weekend at Toy Fair, QMx revealed two 1/6th scale Star Trek collectible action figures that I think you might find impressive. They feature William Shatner’s Captain Kirk and Leonard Nimoy’s Mr. Spock, and the resemblance is stunning. These seriously might just be the best Star Trek figures I’ve ever seen.

The Captain Kirk and Spock 1/6 Scale Figures will stand roughly 12″ tall. They will feature approximately 30 points of articulation. The crew at QMX worked to achieve screen accurate likenesses of both William Shatner and Leonard Nimoy as well as ensuring the outfits matched those from the television series.
The figures will include three sets of interchangeable hands. The figure will include show themed accessories with moving parts. Kirk will include a phaser, a communicator and a translator. Spock will include a phaser and a tricorder. We’re awaiting final details, so these items may not be final.

There’s no word on when these will be released, but when they are, you can expect to drop around $200 on each one.

THE WITCH: An Interview with Composer Mark Korven

One of the greatest things I get to do here at GeekTyrant (and GameTyrant!) is interview some of the greatest minds in geek culture. Add Mark Korven to that list of brilliant artists, as I had the chance to speak with him about his genius new work on the new horror film The Witch.

Mark has worked in films since the '80s; if you caught that Twilight Zone reboot back then, that was one of his first gigs. So the guy definitely knows what’s up, as he’s been composing music for movies and TV since I had to flick the UHF/VHF channels and hook up bunny ears to my wood-grained TV.

Working on The Witch, Korven talks about how director Robert Eggers had a very clear idea in mind as to what he wanted for every aspect of this film. I hope you enjoy creepy sounds, because that’s for sure what is going on in this soundtrack, and it's done with sheer originality and style. Combining what I’ve been hearing about the film with what I’ve heard in this soundtrack, looks like we might be in for the delightful experience of another horror creation that will go down as a classic. The soundtrack is available on iTunes.

HARRY POTTER Books Get Awesome Custom Hardback Covers

I am a true Harry Potter fan and anything related to the books or movies can make me really excited…especially when it is done by Muggles who, despite their lack of magical skills, are still able to create something, well, magical.

Meg Krampf was inspired enough to redesign all seven Harry Potter books. How? She built seven custom leather-bound covers for J.K. Rowling’s series and added a piece of a soul to each one of them in the form of magnetic horcrux bookmarks.

The creator pointed out on Imgur that she initially got the set on Amazon and then asked her local print shop to carefully remove the bindings so she could add her own touch. But the magnetic horcruxes are not the only special features of the books. They are also distinguished by quotes added on the inner pages, stamped copper plates, and metal wands on the spines.

After months of working, the set was put on auction and sold on eBay for $5,100.

Krampf’s creativity has also resulted in custom bindings for The Hunger Games and Divergent series.

CONCERNING THE BODYGUARD Short Film Centers on The Views and Loyalties of a Bodyguard

concerning-the-bodyguard-short-film-centers-on-the-views-and-loyalties-of-a-bodyguard

A few years ago, we shared a short sci-fi film with you called Noon, which was picked up by 20th Century Fox to turn into a feature film. It is a great film and today we have a new one to share with you from that project's creator, Kasra Farahani

The film is called Concerning the Bodyguard, and it’s a masterfully made film that focuses on views and loyalties of a bodyguard and it tells the story of “power, conspiracy, and the overthrow of a dictator in an unknown Near Eastern country.” Here’s the full synopsis:

Based on the short story of the same name by Donald Barthelme (originally published in the New Yorker Magazine in 1978), and read by author Salman Rushdie, “Concerning the Bodyguard” is a story about power, conspiracy, and the overthrow of a dictator in an unknown Near Eastern country. With Salman Rushdie’s reading as the only audio in the film, the images bring to life a series questions being posed by an omniscient narrator about the views and loyalties of a bodyguard, among a group of bodyguards entrusted with the protection of an important and dubious leader. The film explores the nuances of this relationship as well as shows what can potentially happen when a bodyguard intentionally or unintentionally relaxes his guard.

I loved the storytelling approach, it was beautifully shot, and I was sucked right into its captivating story. I hope you all enjoy it as much as I did.

Careful when you pick up this thing because it looks like you could cut yourself! This is Square Enix’s new Bushido Batman action figure, which is a part of their “Timeless” Play Arts Kai collection.

The detail on this thing is incredible and when it comes to Batman, I’ve never really seen anything else like it before. The other two figures in this collection include Wild West Batman and Spartan Batman.

The figure features a massive armor set, a solid red cape and slight battle damaged sculpting throughout. Bushido Batman stand nearly 11″ tall and include two swords, sheaths, interchangeable hands, a grappling claw and a figure stand.

The figure is scheduled for release in June and will cost 19,800 Yen, which is about $175 USD.
