Stunning Stop-Motion Animated Undead Pirate Short - A DROP OF GOLD

$

Filmmaker Christophe Peladan created an incredibly great short film called Goutte d’Or (A Drop of Gold), which tells the story of a pirate who enters the Kingdom of the Dead. While there, he encounters its beautiful Queen, who quickly captures his heart, but it’s not as easy to win over hers.

This is such beautifully conceived and executed stop-motion animated short film, and I know if you take the time to watch it, you’re going to love it. With its beautiful tone, storytelling, animation, and atmosphere, this is stunning work and it's a short film masterpiece.

The film was made back in 2013, but it has finally made its way online. It might just be the best things that you watch today. I truly loved this film, and I hope you all enjoy it as well. The film does have some puppet nudity, so it might not be safe for work.

BAYWATCH Movie: Alexandra Daddario, Nina Dobrev, and More Testing For Female Lead

After years in development, Paramount is finally moving forward with their big screen adaptation of the popular '90s TV show BaywatchDwayne Johnson and Zac Efron are starring, with Johnson as "a by-the-book and very serious lifeguard who is forced to team up with a young rule-flouting hothead (Efron) in order to save their beach from environmental destruction at the hands of an oil tycoon." Now Deadline has a list of actresses who are reportedly up for the female lead.

Here they are: Alexandra Daddario (Percy Jackson, pictured left), Ashley Benson (Spring Breakers, Pretty Little Liars, pictured center), Nina Dobrev (Vampire Diaries, The Final Girls, pictured right), Alexandra Shipp (X-Men: Apocalypse), Shelley Hennig (OuijaTeen Wolf), Bianca Santos (The Duff), and Denyse Tontz (Big Time Rush).

If the movie is anything like the show, one of the most important aspects of these characters is going to be how well they can fill out a red bathing suit. Johnson and Efron will provide some eye candy, and I'm sure all of these new potential candidates can hold their own in that department as well. If I had to guess who'd ultimately be cast, though, I'd put my money on Alexandra Daddario, who broke out after her, um, memorable appearance in the first season of True Detective. She already has a working relationship with Johnson since she played his daughter in the earthquake disaster film San Andreas, and I imagine that gives her a leg up on the competition. We'll see what happens: Deadline points out that it's possible producers will expand the search for the leading lady, and some of these actresses may end up being cast in other roles in the film.

Production starts early next year for director Seth Gordon, so we'll keep you abreast of any important updates.

Watch These Two Professional Fencers Battle With Lightsabers

Though the first annual International Fight With A Lightsaber Day has come and gone, that doesn't mean we still can't take a quick minute to showcase some exciting skills from a couple of Russian fighters. Digg points us to this video from the Fencing Senior World Championships in Moscow in which the two combatants traded their fencing blades for lightsabers and donned clothing inspired by the Star Wars films before going at each other.

At about a minute twenty, the two guys end up trading weapons and continuing the fight. I have to say, though: it's weird watching this with Maroon 5 blaring in the background of the video.

Still, I think Darth Vader sums it up pretty well:

THE WALKING DEAD Season 6 Ep. 6 Promo and Sneak Preview - “Always Accountable”

I can’t believe we only have three episodes of The Walking Dead left this year! Time is flying by way too fast. That last episode was solid, but I’m still waiting to see what really happened to Glenn. I still think AMC is trying to pull a fast one on us, especially after the big reveal in the last episode. I imagine that won’t happen until the final episode of the year.

While we wait for that, AMC has released a new promo and sneak peek for the upcoming episode, which is titled “Always Accountable.” In the episode Daryl, Abraham, and Sasha run into multiple obstacles, including a new threat, while trying to return to Alexandria after their mission is complete. It’s good to see that Daryl is finally going get into some heavy action this season.

My Experience at BlizzCon Along With Cosplay Photos and WARCRAFT Merchandise

Last weekend I attended BlizzCon 2015. This was my very first time going to this event, and it was absolutely incredible! I had an amazing time and met some wonderful people. I haven’t played Warcraft or StarCraft since the 1990s, and it was really cool to see how those gaming franchises and the fans of them have grown over the years.

The opening ceremony was unlike anything I had ever attended before. It was way bigger than anything you would see in Hall H as San Diego Comic-Con. Almost every Blizzard fan that attended the convention was at that opening ceremony, and it began with an insane rumbling of madness! Ever freakin' seat in the place was full, and the whole room just rumbled with awesomeness as the show began. I don’t know how to explain it, but holy shit… It was so rad!

I was there for only really one purpose, and that was to cover the Warcraft movie, but being at BlizzCon made me wish I were a part of this epic gaming community. These were some of the nicest people I had ever met. They were so welcoming even though they knew I wasn’t a part of their world.

To kick off the event, they showed off some incredible stuff for games that I had never even played, and you can read up on some of that stuff over at GameTyrant. The reaction of the crowd was incredibly fun to witness. It was like everyone was excited for everything! It’s not like San Diego Comic-Con where people are there for a thousand different things. These people were united for complete and utter Blizzard greatness, and that’s what they got.

When the trailer for Warcraft was screened for this crowd, they loved it! There was an excitement in the air that seriously blew me away. I only hope that general audiences will embrace the film because this movie seriously looks incredible. I’ve seen people say that it looks like a B-movie and that the CGI work is sub-standard, but I completely disagree with that in every way. That’s not what I saw from this trailer. I saw something insanely ambitious and epic in a way that could take the fantasy film genre to a new level. I saw it as the future, and it impressed the hell out of me.

Then there were the cosplayers that attended the event. I’ve got to say…that was easily some of the best cosplay work that I have ever seen. I’ve included several photos of the cosplay below, along with photos from the event, which also includes some of the display pieces from the Warcraft movie along with some of the cool Warcraft toys and other merchandise that they were showing off.

All-in-all I would absolutely love to attend BlizzCon again, and this time spend a little bit more time around the gaming stuff. I seriously am now considering jumping into World of Warcraft. I’m just scared that once I do, my work at GeekTyrant will suffer. Either way, I plan on attending BlizzCon again, just because I had so much fun this first time.

Gina Carano on Her DEADPOOL Character Angel Dust and Fighting Colossus

Gina Carano plays a villainous character named Angel Dust in director Tim Miller’s upcoming movie, Deadpool. Until now we really didn’t know much about this character, but in an interview with ScreenRant she talks about the character and how her strength is fueled by her rage. She also talks about what it was like fighting Colossus in the film, who was played by Andre Tricoteux. In regards to how she prepared for the character and what her character is like, she said:

"[Angel Dust] is… well, when I talked to Tim [Miller] about getting the job, I did a little bit of research and there wasn’t as much on this character, so it gave me some room to play with it. So this is actually my first look (talking about her current, normal hair style). My second look is much more extreme. It’s, I don’t know, a year to five years after, and Mohawk with the braids on the side. So she’s very fashion forward. What she’s known for is having extreme adrenaline issues. Which, I don’t know. Have you looked up Angel Dust before? It’s kinda like a PCP and people kind of rage on it. I think that’s very fitting for my character. She’s got extreme strength and adrenaline."

Angel Dust’s super-strength is fueled by how angry she gets, which is kinda like how Bruce Banner and the Hulk work. She went on to talk about her relationship with Ajax, saying:

"[The more angry she get, the] More pissed off, yeah. [laughs] I think that me and Ed [Skrein], he actually took me to my first comic book store when I got here. We were going over our characters. It’s a really beautiful, I think, relationship. My character trusts Ajax with everything. She pretty much only really responds to him. He was created a certain way to be the way he is. In our backstory, he kinda created me and showed me everything. And I do the same thing to everyone else. [Ajax gives Angel Dust her powers.]  Yeah. That’s our backstory. In our relationship, he’s everything. He’s the one that taught me."

Of course, at some point in the film Carano will take on Colossus, which seems like it could seriously be a great fight scene to watch! In regards to that confrontation with Colossus, the actress said:

"It’s a lot different than most of the fight scenes and the physicality that I’ve had before. I’ve never done anything with CGI, let alone I’ve never done anything with a 6’8” man as far as physicality goes. And then, on top of that he wears these big, massive boots. So it makes him taller...Andre [Tricoteux], the guy that plays Colossus, has just been… he’s the biggest sweetheart. He is Colossus to me... At some point I actually crawl on top of him and he’s standing up. So I’m like 8, 9 feet in the air just looking down at the world like, “This is what your life is like normally! This is interesting. Different perspective!”

Deadpool hits theater on February 12th, 2016, and I have no doubt Carano will dazzle fans with her badassery.

10 Banned Episodes From Popular Kid Shows

Not every episode that gets made a series makes it onto the air, and some don’t air again after complaints come flooding in from parents. When it comes to children's series, there’s a fine line of what people can and can’t put in them. There are rules and guidelines that need to be followed. Sometimes, even though the production team means well, some episodes end up being banned.

Screen Rant created a list of ten banned episodes from popular kids' TV shows, and those series include TaleSpin, Tiny Toon Adventures, Sailor Moon, Gargoyles, Mister Rogers’ Neighborhood, Dexter’s Laboratory, Sesame Street, and Pokemon

It's not an easy job teaching children right from wrong, or the tough truths of the word, let alone keep them entertained. Sometimes, a TV show's attempts to grab attention (or headlines) can lead to some episodes that were destined to be banned and destroyed. By all accounts, there is no reason these stories should have ever been made let alone make it to the air. Here are Screen Rant's 10 Banned Kid Show Episodes You Won't Believe.

Pixar's FINDING DORY Has a Trailer and Poster

Disney has released the first trailer and poster for Pixar’s upcoming film Finding Dory, which as most of you already know is a sequel to Finding Nemo. The sequel will be released 13 years after Finding Nemo, but the story itself picks up only six months after the events from the first film when Dory suddenly starts to remember certain things about her life. In the trailer, these memories first start to manifest themselves in her sleep, and she starts sleep swimming.

The story follows Dory as she embarks on a journey to find her mom and dad. This leads her to an ocean sanctuary facility where wounded animals are treated before they are re-released into the wild. It's here that she meets lots of new characters like an octopus, who is missing a leg, and a beluga whale named Bailey, who thinks he has suffered a head injury because of the big bump on his head that is supposed to be there.

Ellen DeGeneres and Albert Brooks will reprise their roles of Dory and Marlin, and they are joined by a great voice cast that includes Ed O’Neill as an octopus named Hank; Ty Burrell as the beluga whale, named Destiny; Kaitlin Olsen as a “kind-hearted whale shark”, and Diane Keaton and Eugene Levy as Dory's parents.

Andrew Stanton returns to direct the film, which swims into theaters June 17th, 2016. To read a little more information on the film from D23 this past summer, click here.

STAR WARS Fan Daniel Fleetwood Passes Away Days After Watching THE FORCE AWAKENS

Last week we learned that terminally ill Star Wars superfan Daniel Fleetwood was granted his dying wish to see a cut of J.J. Abrams' Star Wars: The Force Awakens. Disney and Lucasfilm allowed him to see the film after a massive social media campaign with the hashtag #ForceForDaniel that was supported by the likes of Mark Hamill, John Boyega, and several other fans around the world.

It's with a heavy heart that I report that Daniel passed away last night in his sleep. He was 32-years-old and his wife Ashley posted the following message on Facebook early this morning:

"Daniel put up an amazing fight to the very end. He is now one with God and with the force. He passed in his sleep and in peace. He will always be my idol and my hero. Please hug uncle Marc for me and give Lucy lots of kisses. Rest in peace my love. This was the last selfie we ever took together."

Life is precious, friends. Live it to its fullest. Daniel was diagnosed with a rare connective tissue cancer known as spindle cell sarcoma this past July. He was only given 2 months to live, but he fought on for 2 more, and in that time he got to see Star Wars: The Force Awakens. That's what the power of fans uniting for a good cause can do.

Our hearts and prayers go out to Ashley and the rest of Daniel's family and friends.

BACK TO THE FUTURE II Hilariously Edited to Show The Real 2015

We all know the 2015 presented in Back to the Future Part II didn't happen the way we all hoped it would when we were younger. The YouTube Channel PistolShrimps took it upon themselves to recreate parts of the film by implementing real aspects of the 2015 that we currently live in. The results are really funny.

A couple of the things presented in the video include a T-Rex Jurassic World hologram dinosaur instead of Jaws. Then, instead of Biff being the most powerful man in the world, it's Donald Trump.

After watching this video, I want to see the whole movie updated with real things from 2015 just for fun.

Jeffrey Dean Morgan Cast as Negan in THE WALKING DEAD

jeffrey-dean-morgan-cast-as-negan-in-the-walking-dead

Fans of The Walking Dead comic book have known from the beginning of the AMC series that somewhere down to the road the iconic and violent character Negan would have to eventually show up. Well, Negan is finally coming and they've cast Jeffrey Dean Morgan in the role, which is a perfect choice for the character! Other actors in the running for the part included Timothy Olyphant, Matt Dillon, and Garret Dillahunt.

According to THR, Negan will be introduced in the show in the Season 6 finale, which is being directed by Greg Nicotero. The character wasn't introduced in the comic series until the 100th issue.

Possible SPOILERS ahead if you haven't read the comics:

Negan is an insanely violent leader of a group known as The Saviors. They basically use force and intimidation to subjugate other communities, like Alexandria. There's no word on how he or his storyline will exactly be presented in the series, but I imagine there will be some differences from the comics.

In the comic series, Negan protects certain communities from Walkers in exchange for half of that community's supplies. Rick Grimes isn't OK with what Negan is doing, so he wants to bring him down. This isn't an easy task, as Negan makes David Morrissey's villainous Governor character look like a little puppy dog.

Last season, series star Andrew Lincoln told the outlet that he "would be very surprised if we don't see Negan on the horizon in the not-too-distant future." He went on to say:

"What struck me, that I've always been excited about, is we're coming into the sixth season of this show ... and it's the medieval part of The Walking Dead comic, where you realize that there are these isolated communities but don't really know other ones exist. But they're all building and forming themselves with their own image. And then there's a clash of those communities. That, to me, is really interesting and when it gets really exciting with all the action. It turns into this insane, near-apocalyptic landscape that we've never seen before. That is almost a reimagining and a restart for society and humanity. And that is such a rich thing to tell."

Showrunner Scott M. Gimple went on to say that it would be challenging to bring Negan to the series because of his foul mouth, but he did say:

"There's a particular story in that arc that I'm very excited for. But because we know where we're going, we have some opportunities to play around with it and put some things in that will lead up to [Negan and Alexandria] in different ways yet fulfill the story Robert told to the Nth degree by utilizing some slightly different approaches. Lineups and timelines and the whole nine yards."

I'm looking forward to seeing how Negan will be portrayed in the series, and it's good to know they got a great actor to bring this insane character to life for the fans. What do you all think about Jeffrey Dean Morgan taking on this iconic role?

The quirky in-show fangirl of Doctor Who, Petronella Osgood, will return to the Who universe in a spin-off series. Digital Spy says Osgood and her boss Kate will both share center stage in the new UNIT: Extinction. This four-part series will feature hour long audio episodes. While that's not ideal, and while I'd much rather this series be announced as mini-movies, I guess we shouldn't look a gift horse in the mouth? See the trailer below.

Watch: SPECTRE Breaks World Record For Biggest Explosion in The History of Cinema

The newest James Bond film, Spectre, has broken the Guinness World Record for the largest explosion in movie history, which was previously held by the 1994 Jeff Bridges action film Blown Away. I'm a little surprised Spectre holds the record now because while the explosion looked cool in the moment, I didn't for a second think that it might be the biggest one ever put on film. Maybe it's because the characters in the scene didn't really react to it as it was happening. Still, it's an impressive feat and special effects supervisor Chris Corbould should be very proud of his achievement. Check it out in the video below.

SPECTRE has been awarded a Guinness World Records™ title for the Largest Film Stunt Explosion. Producer Barbara Broccoli, Daniel Craig and Léa Seydoux, accepted the record certificate in Beijing, China on behalf of winner Chris Corbould, who served as Special Effects and Miniature Effects Supervisor on SPECTRE. The explosion was filmed in Erfoud, Morocco and used 8418 litres of fuel and 33kg of explosives.

Commenting on the announcement, Michael G. Wilson and Barbara Broccoli, the producers of SPECTRE, said, “It is absolutely tremendous that the Guinness World Records have recognised Chris Corbould’s incredible work in SPECTRE in which he created the largest explosion ever in film history."

Adam McKay is Open to Working on ANT-MAN AND THE WASP with Marvel

When Edgar Wright left Marvel's Ant-Man, writer/director Adam McKay jumped on board to rewrite the script with Paul Rudd. The movie turned out to be a lot better than expected and the studio decided to throw a sequel into their Phase 3 mix called Ant-Man and the Wasp. A couple weeks ago, it was announced that director Peyton Reed would return to direct it.

I've been wondering if McKay and Rudd would team back up to take a crack at the script for the sequel. In a recent interview with THR, McKay was asked about his involvement with the movie, and this was his response:

"I was talking to [Paul] Rudd about it the other day. We’ll see what happens, but that would certainly be fun. I loved working with Marvel. And I have a couple of projects in development. One of them is more dramatic, one’s more comedy, still with a little bit of political teeth to it. And there’s a TV show idea I’ve been kicking around."

Sounds like he's keeping himself busy. I hope that he is able to find the time to work on it if Marvel wants to bring him back into the fold. It's obviously on his mind because he's talking about it with Rudd.

Rudd and Evangeline Lilly will reprise their roles as Scott Lang, a.k.a. Ant-Man, and Hope Van Dyne, a.k.a. The Wasp. Together they will embark on another adventure that will most likely include Janet Van Dyne. Marvel Studios president Kevin Feige has already said in the past that they do have stories planned with her in them.

Ant-Man and The Wasp is scheduled to be released on July 6th, 2018.

Simon Pegg Has No Respect For Anyone Who Likes The STAR WARS Prequel Films

$

Simon Pegg is a very opinionated guy, which is one of the reasons I'm such a big fan of his. He speaks his mind and tells people how it is. It's no secret that he's not a fan of the George Lucas' Star Wars prequel trilogy, and his hatred for The Phantom Menace even became a joke in his British comedy series, Spaced

His distaste for those films runs so deep that he doesn't have any respect for anyone who thinks they are good. He bluntly shared his thoughts about this with the New York Daily News:

"I don't really have any respect for anyone who thinks those films are good. They’re not. (They’re) a monumental misunderstanding of what the (original) three films are about. It's an exercise in utter infanticide ... (like) George Lucas killing his kid."

He went on to joke:

"Jar Jar Binks made the Ewoks look like f----g Shaft!"

Whoa! Tell us how you really feel, Simon! Like many of you, I've never been a fan of the prequel films. That being said, I know that there are fans out there who do defend them. I don't personally know anyone that does — hell, my kids didn't even like them! But for some reason those films did connect with some people, and they think they are good. I guess that means some of you aren't in Pegg's good graces. I'm sure you don't care, though, because you like what you like.

What are your thoughts on Pegg's comments?

Quentin Tarantino Getting His Own Authorized Documentary

Oscar-winning filmmaker Quentin Tarantino is currently embroiled in a controversy with some of the country's police unions since he spoke out against police brutality, but that's just the latest in a long line of controversies that have followed the director throughout his career. I wonder if this latest incident will be mentioned in Tara Wood's new fully authorized documentary about him, called 21 Years: Quentin Tarantino.

Variety reports that Wood, who directed a similar project with 21 Years: Richard Linklater in 2014, will concentrate on the first 21 years of Tarantino's movie-making career, a time period that is said to define the career of any artist.

“Quentin is the most revolutionary, distinctive director of our time,” said Wood. “There is no shortage of stories from his collaborators about what it takes to get his visionary style to the screen. It has been an enlightening process both personally and professionally.”

The documentary will feature interviews with tons of Tarantino's collaborators over the years, including Samuel L. Jackson, John Travolta, Christoph Waltz, Lucy Liu, Zoë Bell, Jennifer Jason Leigh, Jamie Foxx, Eli Roth, Robert Forster, Diane Kruger, Michael Madsen, and Kerry Washington. An in-depth documentary about one of my favorite directors? This sounds excellent.

Here's a trailer for 21 Years: Richard Linklater to get an idea of what this could end up looking like. Meanwhile, Tarantino's western The Hateful Eight opens in limited release on Christmas Day.

Micheal Keaton Disses Spider-Man as He Continues Campaign To Convince Everyone Batman Rules

$

Just yesterday, Michael Keaton made waves in the geek community by talking about how his version of Batman could kick every superhero's ass in a brawl. He kept that streak alive by going on The Tonight Show and telling host Jimmy Fallon a story about the time he dissed Andrew Garfield's version of Spider-Man to an entranced fan who was watching the movie, calling Spidey a pussy when the character broke down in tears and quipping "Batman never cried."

I'll open this up to discussion in the comments: does the fact that Spider-Man cried make him a "lesser" superhero than Batman? I'm genuinely interested in the responses you all have to this, so let me know what you think.

Watch Keaton tell the story below.
