Trailer for THE INTERN with Anne Hathaway and Robert De Niro

trailer-for-the-intern-with-anne-hathaway-and-robert-de-niro

I recently came across this trailer for a new film called The Intern, which stars Anne Hathaway and Robert De Niro. I didn’t know what to expect from this movie, but I was pleasantly surprised by what I saw in this trailer. The movie looks like it could be really good.

De Niro plays a man name Ben Whittaker in the story, “a 70-year-old widower who has discovered that retirement isn’t all it’s cracked up to be. Seizing an opportunity to get back in the game, he becomes a senior intern at an online fashion site, founded and run by Jules Ostin (Anne Hathaway).”

The movie has a good mix of comedy and soul. It’s definitely got that feel-good movie vibe to it. The story does seem to contain a lot of movie cliches like how the old guy in the office doesn’t understand the internet, and how the big boss of a company doesn’t really have her shit together. It’s a simple story that we’ve seen before, but it seems like director Nancy Meyers pulls it off really well.

The Intern opens in theaters September 25th.

Atmospheric Sci-Fi Short Thriller — ROTOR

We’ve got a great short film here for you to check out directed by Maarten Groen. It's is a sci-fi thriller called Rotor, and it centers on a lone security guard as he sits watching over a creepy factory. While he’s sitting there, strange things start to happen around him, there’s a mysterious intruder, so he investigates. Here’s the brief story description:

"A lone night security guard in an eerie factory sees an intruder on one of the monitors and goes to investigate."

The short was made with zero budget, but it has a tight atmospheric story that has some cool stylized visuals. It’s definitely worth seven minutes of your time.

New Trailer for Johnny Depp’s Crime Thriller BLACK MASS

This biopic about the notorious Boston gangster James “Whitey” Bulger looks like a great freakin’ film. Johnny Depp takes on the main role of Bulger in the movie, which is called Black Mass. As you saw in the first trailer, as well as this new one, it looks like Depp gives a awesomely chilling performance. This might end up being the best performance he’s given in years. Bulger must have been one terrifying dude that you wouldn’t want to mess with.

The movie was directed by Scott Cooper, and it also stars Joel Edgerton, Benedict Cumberbatch, Kevin Bacon, Dakota Johnson, Jesse Plemons, Corey Stoll, Rory Cochrane, Sienna Miller, and Adam Scott. Here's the synopsis:

In 1970s South Boston, FBI Agent John Connolly (Edgerton) persuades Irish mobster James “Whitey” Bulger (Depp) to collaborate with the FBI and eliminate a common enemy: the Italian mob. The drama tells the true story of this unholy alliance, which spiraled out of control, allowing Whitey to evade law enforcement, consolidate power, and become one of the most ruthless and powerful gangsters in Boston history.

The movie will be released in theaters on September 18th.

Michael B. Jordan Addresses FANTASTIC FOUR Internet Trolls

When Michael B. Jordan was cast in the role of Johnny Storm, aka The Human Torch, in the the new Fantastic Four movie, the internet was flooded with all kinds negativity toward the casting decision. It wasn't really surprising to see that. After all, this is the internet we’re talking about, and a lot of people expressed their disapproval.

The young and talented actor recently wrote a guest article for Entertainment Weekly in which he addresses the haters and internet trolls that came out to attack. Some of the things he said he saw on the internet were, “A black guy? I don’t like it. They must be doing it because Obama’s president” and “It’s not true to the comic.” Or even, “They’ve destroyed it!” I don't know about you, but I saw worse things than that.

In the article he says that he understands everyone’s perspective and that he can’t ask this kind of audience to “forget 50 years of comic books.” But he goes on to say that the world is more diverse than it was back in 1961, and that “if Stan Lee writes an email to my director saying, ‘You’re good. I’m okay with this,’ who am I to go against that?”

I've always been on board with Jordan being cast in the role. The guy is an amazing actor, and from what I’ve seen, it looks like he’s going to kick some ass in the role. The actor goes on to share his feelings saying:

“This is a family movie about four friends—two of whom are myself and Kate Mara as my adopted sister—who are brought together by a series of unfortunate events to create unity and a team. That’s the message of the movie, if people can just allow themselves to see it.
“Sometimes you have to be the person who stands up and says, ‘I’ll be the one to shoulder all this hate. I’ll take the brunt for the next couple of generations.’ I put that responsibility on myself. People are always going to see each other in terms of race, but maybe in the future we won’t talk about it as much. Maybe, if I set an example, Hollywood will start considering more people of color in other prominent roles, and maybe we can reach the people who are stuck in the mindset that ‘it has to be true to the comic book.’ Or maybe we have to reach past them.”

He concludes the piece by addressing the Internet trolls directly, saying:

“To the trolls on the Internet, I want to say: Get your head out of the computer. Go outside and walk around. Look at the people walking next to you. Look at your friends’ friends and who they’re interacting with. And just understand this is the world we live in. It’s okay to like it.”

Gotta respect the guy for taking a stance. What do you all think about what Jordan had to say in this article and being the one to shoulder all the hate?

First Photos of Matt Damon in Ridley Scott’s Sci-Fi Thriller THE MARTIAN

first-photos-of-matt-damon-in-ridley-scotts-sci-fi-thriller-the-martian

We’ve got our first real look at Matt Damon as an astronaut in Ridley Scott’s upcoming sci-fi thriller The Martian. The film is an adaptation of a book written by Andy Weir, which follows an astronaut (Damon) who is part of the first team of space explorers to walk on Mars. Things don’t go too well for him when he ends up being stranded on the red planet after a dust storm comes along and forces the rest of his crew leave him there alone. To make things worse, there’s no way for him to signal his colleagues and let them know that he’s still alive.

The script was written by Drew Goddard (Cabin in the Woods), also has an incredible supporting cast that includes Jessica Chastain, Kate Mara, Michael Peña, Kristen Wiig, Chiwetel Ejiofor, Jeff Daniels, Mackenzie Davis, Sean Bean, Donald Glover and Naomi Scott

There’s a lot of great talent involved with this project, and I think it has solid potential to be an incredible movie. It’d be cool to see Scott do something great again. Hopefully this movie is it. Here’s the official description of the story:

Six days ago, astronaut Mark Watney became one of the first people to walk on Mars.
Now, he’s sure he’ll be the first person to die there.
After a dust storm nearly kills him and forces his crew to evacuate while thinking him dead, Mark finds himself stranded and completely alone with no way to even signal Earth that he’s alive—and even if he could get word out, his supplies would be gone long before a rescue could arrive.
Chances are, though, he won’t have time to starve to death. The damaged machinery, unforgiving environment, or plain-old “human error” are much more likely to kill him first.
But Mark isn’t ready to give up yet. Drawing on his ingenuity, his engineering skills—and a relentless, dogged refusal to quit—he steadfastly confronts one seemingly insurmountable obstacle after the next. Will his resourcefulness be enough to overcome the impossible odds against him?

The Martian hits theaters on November 25th.

New ANT-MAN Photos and Magazine Covers Show the Hero in Action

Empire Magazine has released a couple of covers featuring Marvel’s Ant-Man, and they came along with a small batch of new photos from the film for you to enjoy. The images include Paul Rudd as Ant-Man, Michael Douglas as Hank Pym, Evangeline Lilly as Hope van Dyke, Corey Stoll as YellowJacket, and the director of the film, Peyton Reed. My favorite image in the whole set shows Ant-Man running with his ant army.

Judging from what we’ve seen from the trailers, this looks like it’s going to be another great Marvel movie, and maybe one of the most comedic. It probably won’t be the most successful of the bunch, but there’s no doubt that it will entertain the general audiences and fans who see it.

The next evolution of the Marvel Cinematic Universe brings a founding member of The Avengers to the big screen for the first time with Marvel Studios’ Ant-Man. Armed with the astonishing ability to shrink in scale but increase in strength, master thief Scott Lang must embrace his inner-hero and help his mentor, Dr. Hank Pym, protect the secret behind his spectacular Ant-Man suit from a new generation of towering threats. Against seemingly insurmountable obstacles, Pym and Lang must plan and pull off a heist that will save the world.

The movie is set to be released on July 17th.

The latest episode of Bad Lip Reading has been released, and Marvel fans are really going to get a kick out of this one. It uses footage from the first Avengers movie to create a fake drama series called Redneck Avengers: Tulsa Nights. If you’ve enjoyed the Bad Lip Reading episodes released in the past, you’re going to love this one. It’s pretty damn hilarious.

In this new prime-time drama, the Redneck Avengers explore the backwaters of obsession, relationships, and crime-fighting in Oklahoma.

Ryan Reynolds Grants the Wish of a Young DEADPOOL Fan

In case you didn't like Ryan Reynolds enough, the actor granted the wish of a young Deadpool fan who wanted to meet him and his alter ego Deadpool. The fan's name is Tony Acevedo, and he is battling Hodgkin's Disease. This whole thing was organized by the Make a Wish Foundation, and you can see a couple photos from the Deadpool movie set that Reynolds posted on his Instagram below. Here's what Reynolds said:

"Tony Acevedo asked Make A Wish Foundation if he could meet Deadpool. I wasn't expecting him to sneak the mask, put on the gloves, smile... and then beat Deadpool about the face, arms and jugular with blazing speed. Tony's next fight is with Hodgkin's Disease. Hodgkin's Disease best be wearing its brown pants."

I love it when people go out of their way to do awesome stuff like this. I also included a new behind the scenes image of Ryan Reynolds all decked out as Deadpool in the upcoming film that we’re all excited about. It’s a shot similar to many of the set photos that we’ve seen from the movie. The photo has been spilt into two parts, so you have Deadpool in one and the crew shooting him in the other.

I can’t get enough of this stuff. I’m really excited about this movie, and I think director Tim Miller is going to give fans exactly what they want. He and Reynolds have both said that that’s what they plan on doing, and judging by what I’ve seen and heard about the film so far, they actually might deliver on the promise.

Deadpool hits theaters on February 12th, 2016.

Chris Pratt Pens Hilarious Pre-Apology Before He Starts JURASSIC WORLD Press Tour

chris-pratt-pens-hilarious-pre-apology-before-he-starts-jurassic-world-press-tour

Chris Pratt and the Jurassic World team have embarked on their global press tour for the highly-anticipated dinosaur disaster film. Before that press tour officially began, Pratt took to his Facebook page and wrote two open letters to his fans and the press that are must reads. The first was him expressing his excitement for Jurassic World, and the second was a hilarious pre-apology for anything bad or offensive he may say during the press rounds. These letters are just going to make you like Pratt even more! First up, here’s his excitement letter:

About to embark on a global press blitz for #‎JurassicWorld. Saw it last night and I ABSOLUTELY LOVED IT!!
This is a motion picture so beautifully executed by Colin Trevorrow and the people at Universal it left me utterly speechless. It's a huge project in every aspect, a massive commercial undertaking that should be witnessed in IMAX theatre if possible based simply on the magnitude of its technological accomplishment. The story is fantastic, the characters compelling, the action is earned and truly unprecedented. Grab your kids, family, friends, girlfriends, boyfriends, grandparents, mailmen, etc., get some popcorn and create a memory y'all will cherish forever.
NOW....
Needless to say you will be seeing A LOT of me in the press in the next few weeks as I circle the globe promoting the movie in different markets around the world. With social media the way it is and click bait marketing online you will have a front row seat to all of the promotional action if you so chose. There will be a lot. Dare I say too much if you actually take the time to watch it all!? I suggest you don't. But that's up to you.
If it gets old or you grow weary of my face just remember, you could always do what I did while waiting for the original Jurassic Park to open, go outside and play with imaginary dinosaurs! They are the best and they are free!!! And after your children, little brothers, little sisters, nephews, grandchildren, weird neighbor kids, and others, etc. finish seeing our movie that's what they will be doing anyways so practice now! Take science, add a dash of imagination, 40 thousand tons of suspense and you get an experience that defines a generation!
#JURASSICWORLD
Well. See you in the press! Love you.
-Chris
PS. I write this crap. Not a publicist or the studio. Me. So it definitely has my seal of approval.

Now here’s the pre-apology that is sure to make you laugh:

I want to make a heartfelt apology for whatever it is I end up accidentally saying during the forthcoming #‎JurassicWorld press tour. I hope you understand it was never my intention to offend anyone and I am truly sorry. I swear. I'm the nicest guy in the world. And I fully regret what I (accidentally will have) said in (the upcoming foreign and domestic) interview(s).
I am not in the business of making excuses. I am just dumb. Plain and simple. I try. I REALLY try! When I do (potentially) commit the offensive act for which I am now (pre) apologizing you must understand I (will likely have been) tired and exhausted when I (potentially) said that thing I (will have had) said that (will have had) crossed the line. Those rooms can get stuffy and the hardworking crews putting these junkets together need some entertainment! (Likely) that is who I was trying to crack up when I (will have had) made that tasteless and unprofessional comment. Trust me. I know you can't say that anymore. In fact in my opinion it was never right to say the thing I definitely don't want to but probably will have said. To those I (will have) offended please understand how truly sorry I already am. I am fully aware that the subject matter of my imminent forthcoming mistake, a blunder (possibly to be) dubbed "JurassicGate" is (most likely) in no way a laughing matter. To those I (will likely have had) offended rest assured I will do everything in my power to make sure this doesn't happen (again).

You can't help but love this guy's sense of humor.

Watch Audiences React to THE EXORCIST in 1973 News Footage

watch-audiences-react-to-the-exorcist-in-1973-news-footage

The classic 1970s horror movie The Exorcist is one of scariest horror films I've ever seen. I saw the film when I was kid, so it probably had a hand in messing me up. Three years ago, I wrote an article about how this was one of the horror films that changed my life, and you can read that here in case you missed it.

Over the years I've become desensitized to horror movies, and I imagine that's the same way a lot of people feel. But when The Exorcist first came out, no one had ever seen anything like it before, so it scared the shit out of anyone who watched it. The movie was so terrifying that people were passing out during screenings, leaving the theater in horror, and throwing up. Horror movies just don't have the same effect on people like this anymore.

It was a controversial horror film at the time, and a lot of religious groups were telling their congregations not to see it. Of course curiosity got the better of people, and thanks to the internet you can see what the reactions of these people were back in 1973.

ARROW Had Big Plans For Harley Quinn Until SUICIDE SQUAD Came Along

$

Apparently the producers of the hit TV series Arrow had big plans for Harley Quinn, but Warner Bros. wouldn't let them follow through with them. While talking to MCM London (via: Spoiler TV) over the weekend, Willa Holland (Thea Queen/Speedy) said that if it wasn’t for the studio ordering the producers to scrap their Harley Quinn plans, we might have seen the character in action.

"We had big plans for Harley. But, I guess something came down from DC execs that told us to shut it down. I mean we had that tease with the pigtails and the ARGUS outfit but, we’ll never see it. We would love to Harley in Arrow but it will never happen."

That’s incredibly disappointing to hear, especially since the TV universe is separate from the  movie universe. Why can’t Harley exist in these two different worlds? I’m excited to see Harley in Suicide Squad, but I think I’d be more excited about seeing her in Arrow. She did make a surprise cameo in Arrow’s second season, and it was one of the most exciting moments in the series for fans. Too bad producers weren’t allowed to play with the character and expand on her.

I’d be interested to know what "big plans" they had for Harley in the series before the WB executives shut it down. It would have been great to see the villain causing chaos in Starling City! That sucks that it will never happen.

GTA V Gets JUST CAUSE's Grappling Hook in New Mod

Have you ever wanted to whiz through the streets of Los Santos with a grappling hook? After being introduced to the Just Cause franchise and seeing that awesome grappling hook at work, I'll admit to wishing I could use it while playing Grand Theft Auto V. But since I have absolutely zero knowledge of how to create a mod, my dream came and went.

Thankfully, modder JulioNIB knew exactly how to make this happen, and the results are just as glorious as I imagined. Using that grappling hook to attach people to cars, cars to walls, cars to other cars, and yourself to the roofs of otherwise-difficult-to-reach buildings seems like a blast and adds endless new possibilities to the chaos you can create in the world of the game.

Some more photos from the set of Suicide Squad have appeared online, and they feature something we've never seen before. There are some strange-looking creatures that are carrying around weapons. There's no information on what these dark and unusual-looking creatures are, or what part they play in the story, but perhaps they are the work of Enchantress? Check out the photos and let me know what you think they are. There are also photos of a crashed helicopter.

Awesome Batman Action Figure Looks Like a Comic Sketch

DC has an incredibly cool set of action figures they're releasing called the "Designer Series." They are fully posable figures based on the art of comic artists. This amazing figure is based on the work of Batman: Hush artist Jim Lee, and it's a must-have for any collector.

The 7-inch figure comes along with a sketch of the Dark Knight designed by Lee. According to USA Today, there are two different versions of the figure:

There are two different versions for purchase of the Batman action figure, which is white with black lines and celebrates the artistic process. (Plus he looks different than all those black Bat-figures fans already have.) An exclusive Lee print on blueline paper comes with the the standard package ($40), and a limited edition ($300) of 150 pieces includes a signed unique original sketch by the artist — Lee's doing 50 each of Batman, Harley Quinn and the Joker.

The other figures in the series are based on the art of Jea Lee's Batman/Superman. I've included images and a video featuring the characters Batman, Superman, Wonder Woman, and Catwoman. My favorite in the whole set is the Batman sketch figure by Jim Lee, though.

EX MACHINA's Alicia Vikander In Talks For ASSASSIN'S CREED and BOURNE 5

$

About a week ago, we wrote about how up-and-coming actress Alicia Vikander was set to join Tom Hanks in a new tech thriller called The Circle. Well, it seems that some studio executives have finally gotten around to seeing her breakout performance in Ex Machina, because Deadline reports that she's now in talks for roles in both Assassin's Creed and the new Bourne film. But when one door opens, another closes, and it seems as if The Circle is in need of a new leading lady.

There's no word on who Vikander would play in either of the two new films, but with buzz surrounding her being at an all-time high right now, it seems a certainty that she'll have substantial parts in both projects. Paul Greengrass is directing Matt Damon once again in the upcoming Bourne sequel, while Assassin's Creed would reunite her with Michael Fassbender, with whom she co-starred in The Place Beyond The Pines director Derek Cianfrance's new movie The Light Between OceansVikander was phenomenal in Ex Machina, and I'm hoping she's able to continue starring in high-profile projects like these.

Because of tight scheduling, the young actress would have to bail from The Circle, but producers have reportedly put an offer out to Emma Watson to replace her, and seeing Watson and Hanks square off sounds like a very intriguing prospect.

If you've seen Mad Max: Fury Road — and really, by now all of you should have — then you definitely remember The Doof Warrior. He's the crazy dude who plays a flamethrower guitar, providing the soundtrack for Immortan Joe's war party. Although he's never really mentioned in the movie (the magic is just seeing him randomly pop up, still rocking out despite ludicrous circumstances), director George Miller created a whole backstory for the character, which you can read all about right here.

Deviant Artist Kareem Ahmed (aka avalonfilth) created this piece of fan art depicting The Doof Warrior as we know him best: standing in front of a wall of speakers in a power pose with his guitar spewing flames. Thanks for sending this over, Kareem.

As the old TV show title said, eight is enough — but not if you're a fan of Marvel's TV shows. Agent Carter had an eight episode first season, and though the show's future was in question for a little while, the fans who faithfully tuned in were clamoring for more. But a couple of weeks ago, ABC officially renewed it for a second season, and at Houston's Comicpalooza, star Hayley Atwell revealed that eight is NOT enough: the network has asked for ten episodes this time.

The show runners really want to move it forward, so it’s going to be set in LA and with 10 episodes it’s going to be a very glamorous, dark world of 1940s Los Angeles.

But what will the tone be for Peggy in season 2?

What was very exciting is, in a second season she’s grieved over Steve and she’s now about to embark on a new adventure in her life. So she’s in a much better place, so in terms of where she is it’s going to be a lot lighter for her, there’s going to be more humor to her and more warmth. She’s not struggling so much with her identity.

I know fans will be excited to hear about being able to dive into Peggy's world for a couple more episodes, and it sounds like the character won't be quite as weighed down as she was the last time we saw her. And that new L.A. setting will drop her right into classic film noir territory, so that should be fun to watch. Here's the official synopsis for season 2:

Dedicated to the fight against new atomic age threats in the wake of World War II, Peggy must now journey from New York City to Los Angeles for her most dangerous assignment yet. But even as she discovers new friends, a new home — and perhaps even a new love — she’s about to find out that the bright lights of the post-war Hollywood mask a more sinister threat to everyone she is sworn to protect.
