Square Enix has revealed this insanely badass Marvel Universe Thor action figure as part of their Variant Play Arts Kai line. I absolutely love their extreme and hardcore take on the character.

The figure is set to be released in September and will cost collectors $122. It comes with three pairs of interchangeable hands, a plastic cape, swappable face, a display stand, lightning, and a Mjolnir swinging swoosh.

I've really been liking these action figures that Square Enix has been releasing, and you can check out some of the other ones at the following links: STAR WARS: Boba Fett and Stormtrooper Variant Figures, Darth Vader Variant Action Figure, and Wild West Batman Action Figure.

Brad Bird, George Clooney, and Damon Lindelof Discuss TOMORROWLAND

Tomorrowland was an extremely entertaining sci-fi flick that I think a lot of audiences will end up liking it. It seems to be getting a lot of mixed reviews from critics, which kind of baffles me because it is such a cool movie. I guess it’s just not for everyone, but it’s one of those movies that the whole family can enjoy. You can read my full review of it here.

I had the opportunity to attend a press junket for the film where the talented individuals who were involved with bringing it to life talked about certain aspects about it. George Clooney (Frank Walker), Brad Bird (Director/Producer/Writer), Damon Lindelof (Producer/Writer), Britt Robertson (Casey Newton), Tim McGraw (Ed Newton), Raffey Cassidy (Athena), and Jeff Jensen (Story) were all in attendance. They discussed the birth of the Tomorrowland movie idea; NASA; their thoughts on being involved with a movie like this; and Walt Disney’s inspiration behind it.

Lindelof started off the discussion by revealing how the idea for the movie came about.

“I was having a meeting, a lunch, with Sean Bailey, who is the president of production at Disney. We were talking about the Marvel movies, of which we’re both fans. He said they had a number of fantasy princess movies in the pipeline at Disney, but just sort of wondered what else a Disney movie should be. I said to him, 'I don’t know what it’s about, but I would see a movie called Tomorrowland.' And that was the beginning of this whole adventure. I think that, for me, I’ve always been really interested in the future and I kind of feel like all the movies that I’ve been exposed to over the course of the last 20-30 years have shown me a future that I don’t really want to be living in. it’s cool to watch, but teenagers trying to kill other teenagers, or robots eradicating mankind, or you know, apocalyptic wastelands, albeit populated by Charlize Theron, are all great.
“What about that other future, and is there a way to tell that story? And then I was really interested in the history of Disney, the Imagineers, and the theme parks, particularly as it related to the World’s Fairs, and Jeff Jensen, who wrote about Lost extensively and had crazy theories that were much more imaginative than anything we as writers were coming up with. And also, I just felt like tactically speaking, you should just hire critics and turn them over to your side. So if any of you guys have any ideas, I’d love to hear them after the press conference. Jeff and I always had a love for the same stuff. We’re both fanboys, and we started just talking about this idea. And I was able to kind of recruit him and we then went after Mr. Bird, who came on and joined the party.”

I thought it was awesome that they dove into this stuff to create an original story. That’s one of the things that I like most about the movie. We don’t get enough original movies these days, and even though it’s based on a Disneyland attraction, they still managed to create something new and cool out of it. Clooney felt the same way about the film and talked about his thoughts on the idea and character he played.

“You know, listen. First and foremost, I think it is a really bold thing for Disney to be willing to do a film that isn’t a sequel and isn’t a comic book, to really invest in a summer film of this sort of ilk. The fun part of it, to me, was when you read the screenplay, although I have to say, just so we’re clear, when Damon and Brad showed up at my house, they said, ‘We’ve got a part that we’ve written for you.’ And then I opened up the description of the character and it’s a 55-year-old has-been, and I’m kind of going, Hang on a minute, which part am I reading for?’
“It said former genius, boy genius, who has gotten bitter in his old age. I just loved the idea of, you know, we live in a world right now where you turn on your television set and it’s rough out there. And it’s not fun. And it can really wear on you after a period of time. And we see generations now feeling as if it’s sort of hopeless, in a way, and what I love about it is it sort of speaks to the idea that your future is not preordained and predestined, and that if you’re involved, a single voice can make a difference and I believe in that. I happen to believe in it, and so I loved the theme or the idea that, you know, there’s still so much that we can all do to make things better. And I liked it. I thought it was great.”

When Bird was asked how he felt when he was brought on board to direct the project, he said,

“I was just happy to be asked to join, you know? I was inspired by the idea and I was an admirer of Damon’s work. And he did a little uncredited work at the very end of Mission. And it was a very tight series of things and you had to be very surgical. And Damon was really smart. So I asked what he was doing next during that time, and he mentioned this idea. And I was immediately hooked.”

Bird did an incredible job directing the film. I really liked what he brought to the story and characters. It felt just like one of his animated movies that we all love and enjoy like The Iron Giant. The conversation then turned to NASA, because it was used as a plot point in the story. Bird recalled his memory of watching the moon landing:

“I grew up and remember the moon landing. I remember how that felt. I was actually in the air when they were about to get out on the surface. We were flying in from Denver, and I was like, ‘I’m going to miss it!’ Fortunately, there were some kinds of technical errors and we landed in the airport. We ran to the nearest TV monitor and there were, like, 400 people just packed in, watching when Neil Armstrong set foot on the moon. And everybody just went, ‘Whoo!’ That feeling has never left me.
“And when we were first planning the movie, Damon and I were at Disney and the space shuttle took its last sort of circle over LA. And everybody came out and watched it, and there was this weird feeling of pride mixed with great sadness, like we’re not doing that anymore, and why aren’t we? So a chance to shoot at NASA was fantastic, and to be on this launchpad were so many really noble journeys started. And we got to watch a launch from the launchpad, which was one of the coolest moments on the film. So it was great to be at NASA. And if this, in any way, encourages NASA people to do more, then I think that would be a great thing.”

One of the inspirations for the movie movie was Walt Disney and his dream of a better world, which is why he created attractions like Tomorrowland and the Epcot Center at his Disneyland theme parks. Talking about that aspect of forming the story Lindelof said,

“I’ll say that I think Brad can probably speak most articulately about the kind of person Walt was, and what an inspirational figure he was, in terms of a lot of the things that everybody up here is talking about, the way that you look at the future and using imagination as a catalyst, pushing against a machinery that says, ‘That’s naïve, or corny, or idealistic,’ and saying, ‘No, it’s not.’
“But specific to the question you asked for the movie, there is a much longer version of this movie, not necessarily a better one, that is much more explicit about Walt’s involvement. But the idea is that it was very explicit about the idea that he was a member of Plus Ultra, and that Disneyland, particularly Tomorrowland and Disneyland, were covers for the actual Tomorrowland. Our feeling was that aside from trying to find that line in any movie when it gets bogged down by exposition and no longer becomes enjoyable to watch, the feeling was that by directly referencing Disney and Disneyland in a movie that is a Disney movie, it just suddenly felt like, ‘Oh, are we trying to sell tickets to go to the theme park,’ when the theme park should be selling tickets to go and see Tomorrowland.
“Some of the very last things that Walt Disney filmed were about this experimental prototype community of tomorrow. He filmed this thing. He thought he was healthy. And like within days, he went into the doctor and learned that he had terminal lung cancer. But one of the last things he shot, he was talking about Florida and he called it our Florida Project. And he was talking about the park and he said, “Yeah, there will be an amusement park kind of like Disneyland, but the whole reason to do it, the main attraction, is this!” And he pointed to the city and said, 'It’s going to be an actual place that you can try ideas and we’ll take corporations and we’ll collaborate with them on new ideas, and sell the ideas to the world, and try them out.'
“And his face lit up when he talked about. The amusement park of it was just like, that’s over on the side, one of those, but the main reason to do it – Which part of it do you think wasn’t done? It’s that part. And it’s understandable, because you needed somebody like Disney as a catalyst to make it happen. But on his deathbed, he was looking up at the ceiling and pointing out how the city would be laid out. and the fact that he was, to his last moments, dreaming about this future and making crazy ideas happen, and be real, and accelerate the pace of that, was very moving to me. And if the movie caught even a little bit of that, I think we will have succeeded.”

The movie is currently playing in theaters, so make sure to check it out when you get a chance! If you just let the kid inside of you take over when you go to see this movie, you’ll have a blast watching it.

This wonderful piece of He-Man and the Masters of the Universe fan art was created by Yannick Bouchard. It's a tribute to the 1980s fantasy hero, who has his own action figure line and toy line. He-Man has always been a favorite of mine, and this art captures the greatness of several of the characters from the classic franchise that many of us enjoyed.

Here's the opening title sequence from the cartoon, just in case you want that theme song stuck in your head the rest of the day.

Trailer for Keanu Reeves' Terrible Psychological Thriller KNOCK KNOCK

A new trailer had been released for the Eli Roth-directed thriller Knock Knock, which is easily one of the worst movies that Keanu Reeves has ever done. I hate to say that because I'm such a big fan of the actor, but it's almost like Roth made this film just to embarrass Reeves.

Reeves plays a happy-go-lucky family man who in a moment of weakness makes a bad choice and finds himself paying for it in the most frustrating and terrible ways.

I saw the film at Sundance earlier this year and a lot of people got up and walked out of the screening I attended. I stuck with it all the way to the end, though, and wrote a review that you can read here. It's one of those films that is so bad you might just have to see it for yourself.

Here's the synopsis of the film:

Evan Webber (Reeves) is living the dream. Just look at his beautiful, successful wife, his two wonderful kids, and his truly stunning house—which he designed himself. Of course he did. Things are going so well, Evan doesn't even mind spending Father's Day alone while the rest of his family heads out for a beach weekend. And then there’s a knock on the door.

The two young women (Lorenza Izzo and Ana de Armas) standing on Evan's doorstep are where Evan's dream takes a nightmarish turn. Things get weird, and then dark, and then much, much, much darker. Evan's life—and house—get ripped apart, piece by beautiful piece.

There's no U.S. release date set yet, but when there is we'll let you know. It will be released in the U.K. on June 26th.

Rad VOLTRON Fan Art 'The Defender' Created by Ian Glaubinger

I guess I'm feeling nostalgic today. Earlier I posted a He-Man and the Masters of the Universe fan poster. Now I have another '80s cartoon art piece to share with you featuring Voltron. The illustration is called "The Defender," and it was created by Ian Glaubinger. It presents Voltron in a way that I've never really seen before. It's done a playful and fun style, that I think fans of the the franchise will appreciate.

I came across the art over on /Film, and they did an interview with the artist. While talking about his style he explains how it came about:

"I used to draw 'the Marvel Way' or at least I thought I was. That was my trajectory. Then 2 things shaped my 'unique style' in the early 2000’s. They were 'fun' and 'style'.
"Fun: The amazing Walt Simonson, my sequential illustration teacher during my junior year of college. He noticed my sketches and thumbnails had much more life and movement but when I moved into the finalized pieces they often became very flat and stiff. He encouraged me to work in a more fun style as it might better suit me and he was totally right on that one.
"Style: Believe it or not, the very short lived cartoon “Clerks: The Animated Series” literally changed they way I would draw forever. The way artist Stephen Silver designed those characters and that world basically changed the way I would draw forever. From the bizarre shapes of characters, getting likeness with very few (specific lines), the line thicknesses, even to the way I draw hands and fingers (I call them french toast stick fingers). Now my style has since evolved and changed a bit since then but I feel it all really started for me when I saw that cartoon in the early 2000’s."

If you like the stuff that the artist has created, you can buy yourself a print of "The Defender" right here. I've also included a couple of rough sketches that the artist completed before he produced the final design.

World Record Set for Longest Hoverboard Flight - Video

world-record-set-for-longest-hoverboard-flight

The Guinness World Records has announced that the longest flight on a real life hoverboard was pulled off by Catalin Alexandru Duru. He rode 905 feet and 2 inches to achieve the record, and you can watch him accomplish the feat in the video below. It may not be on the Back to the Future II style hoverboard that we've all been dreaming about since 1989, but it's a step forward.

This hoverboard is powered by an insanely powerful quadcopter, and it’s pretty awesome. The one benefit that this hoverboard has over the the one Marty McFly uses in Back to the Future II is it can move over water.

The creator of the board said:

"The first real-life hoverboard. The machine was built and designed by me, Catalin Alexandru Duru. I am the first man to create and fly a working prototype.

"I will showcase that stable flight can be achieved with a machine one can stand on and control with their feet, just like in the movie "Back to the Future Part II". In our case, the machine is propeller-based.

"The prototype can be used anywhere, but is usually tested over water because of how dangerously high it can fly (which is ironic considering that the movie joked that it can't)."

Netflix has picked up Bill Murray and Sofia Coppola's Christmas special A Very Murray Christmas. So this Christmas, subscribers of the streaming service will receive the greatest gift ever... the gift of Bill Murray. They've even released a teaser trailer for the special as well.

The special is described as “an homage to the classic variety show featuring Bill Murray playing himself, as he worries no one will show up to his TV show due to a terrible snow storm in New York City. Through luck and perseverance, guests arrive at the Carlyle hotel to help him; dancing and singing in holiday spirit."

When the project was first announced Murray described it as follows:

"We’re going to do it like a little movie. It won’t have a format, but it’s going to have music. It will have texture. It will have threads through it that are writing. There will be prose. It will have a patina style and wit to it. It will be nice."

There's an all-star list of actors who will be making an appearance in the project that includes George Clooney, Amy PoehlerJason Schwartman, Paul Shaffer, Julie White, Dimitri Dimitrov, Michael Cera, Chris Rock, David Johansen, Maya Rudolph, Jenny Lewis, Phoenix, Frederic Moulin, Rashida Jones, and Miley Cyrus.

There's no release date set yet, but it will most likely be released this December. Here's the teaser that sets the mood for the special. As a longtime fan of Murray, I'm looking forward to this.

STAR WARS: THE FORCE AWAKENS — John Williams Talks About Creating The Score

Legendary composer John Williams will return to a galaxy far, far away to score J.J. Abrams' upcoming Star Wars: The Force Awakens, and in the latest in a long line of Vanity Fair interviews for the film, Bruce Handy spoke with the renowned artist to ask him about creating the movie's music.

On whether his creative process differs with Star Wars films versus any other films he's worked on:

Very much so. It’s all a continuation of an initial set of ideas. It’s a bit like adding paragraphs to a letter that’s been going on for a number of years. Starting with a completely new film, a story that I don’t know, characters that I haven’t met, my whole approach to writing music is completely different—trying to find an identity, trying to find melodic identifications if that’s needed for the characters, and so on. Which I do here, but here it’s an extension of something that’s been really organic and continually growing. It’s a very, very different process.

On working with Abrams compared to George Lucas:

It’s actually very similar. My meetings with George had to do with spotting the film, selecting areas in which music would be played, and pretty much we agreed on all that. He always left me free to write the music. And J.J.’s done the same thing. We’ve had a few preliminary meetings, and I’ve played him some music at the piano, which he seemed to like very much. His latest instruction to me was, “Just do your thing.” Which is giving me a good sense of freedom, a good free swing at the ball. I don’t know how much you know of him, but he is a delightful person. Enormously bright. I’ve been very impressed with him in meetings with a great variety of people. His generalship is assured and warm and inviting and inclusive. If I can say it, he’s a fabulous young man who’s future is so brilliant and so promising.

On if we'll hear any of the familiar themes from the original trilogy, aside from the iconic Star Wars theme:

There are some scenes where we do make reference to earlier thematic pieces. We haven’t done it yet, but we’re planning to do it. It’s something that I think will seem very natural and right in the moments for which we’ve chosen to do these kinds of quotes. There aren’t many of them, but there are a few that I think are important and will seem very much a part of the fabric of the piece in a positive and constructive way.

There are more quotes in the full interview, so I suggest giving it a read. Williams is a living legend in the Hollywood community, and it's insane to me that he's still creating vibrant and essential pieces of music at age 83. I think I speak for all of us when I say that I can't wait to hear what he does with the score for a new Star Wars film.

Supercut: The Films of Brad Bird

Director Brad Bird's new film Tomorrowland is in theaters right now, and even though the film has been a dividing one in the critical community, Bird's previous movies are almost universally recognized as being masterpieces. From The Iron Giant — under-appreciated at the time of release, now a beloved classic — to his Pixar work with The Incredibles and Ratatouille, to his dazzling live-action debut in Mission: Impossible - Ghost Protocol, Bird has proven himself as a visually inventive and thematically fascinating director capable of bouncing between genres with ease.

The Playlist points us to this cool supercut of the director's (admittedly still small) feature film career from editor Joel Walden, and it's a nice reminder of some of the finer moments in Bird's filmography. Check it out:

The magician heist franchise Now You See Me already has a third film in development. Now You See Me 2 won't even be released until June 10th, 2016, but they have a third chapter ready to go after it's released.

CEO Jon Feltheimer made the announcement earlier today saying, “We’ve already begun early planning for Now You See Me 3." The first movie was absolutely ridiculous and full of plot holes, but I loved the concept and enjoyed it for what it was.

I'm excited to the sequel that's being directed by Jon M. Chu, and now fans like myself have a third film to look forward to. I'm curious to see where they will take the story of these characters.

Mark Ruffalo, Woody Harrelson, Jesse Eisenberg,  Dave Franco, Morgan Freeman, and Michael Caine are all reprising their roles in the sequel, while Lizzy Caplan has replaced Isla Fisher. There's no word on when Now You See Me 3 will be released yet, but we'll keep you updated.

Review: POLTERGEIST Isn’t as Good as the Original, But It's Still a Fun Flick!

$

review-poltergiest-isnt-as-good-as-the-original-but-still-a-fun-flick

The first thing you need to know about me before I start this review is that the original Tobe Hooper and Steven Spielberg Poltergeist film is one of my favorite horror movies of all time. When I first found out it was being remade, I was disappointed that Hollywood would do that to such a wonderfully frightening horror movie classic. When Sam Raimi jumped on board to produce it, though, and Monster House director Gil Kenan came on to direct it, I wanted to have hope that the movie would be good because I’m a big fan of their previous work. I went into this new version of the film with a little hope, excitement, and an open mind.

I was actually pleasantly surprised by what this movie delivered to its audience. I thoroughly enjoyed the movie, and was completely entertained from beginning to end. It wasn’t as terrifying as the original, but this Poltergeist stands on its own, and it turned out to be a horror movie adventure that I had a blast watching. I know not everyone is going to like it, a lot of people will say that it’s not as good as the original, and you know what? It’s not. But that doesn’t mean it still can’t be an entertaining movie that takes audiences on a creepy, horror-filled ride.

This movie uses a lot of modern technology, and it's important to the story that they tell. With iPhones, iPads, big screen TVs and ghost hunting tech, the movie takes audiences to places that the original didn't. There were also a few unexpected things that I didn’t see coming, which I thought was cool. I won’t spoil those things for you here, but it did make for intriguing storytelling full of surprises. One of the things I hoped this movie would do is take us into the realm of the poltergeist, which it does, and the vision of it that they give the audience is very creepy and cool.

One of my favorite aspects of the film is how they played with the horror elements of the story. There were some interesting things they pulled off that made the movie pop with thrills that freaked out the people in the audience. I thought these elements were more fun than they were scary, but I don’t scare easily. For example, the creepy tree, the clown, and other things from the original movie were incorporated into this one, but it was a fresh new crazy take on the material that I think people will like.

As far as the acting goes, I really enjoyed everyone’s performance. Sam Rockwell gave a fantastic performance as the father of the family, Eric Bowen. There was once scene in particular in which he’s talking about getting his daughter back that especially stuck out. You could just see the desperation in his eyes and hear it in his voice. As a father, it hit me on an emotional level. Rosemarie DeWitt played his wife Amy, and she gave a solid performance. Jared Harris played a paranormal investigator named Carrigan Burke, and he was a complete badass. Kennedy Clements is the super talented little girl that took on the role of Madison, who is taken by the poltergeists. My favorite actor in the whole film, though, the one that stole the show, was Kyle Catlett, who played the little boy Griffin. This kid was freakin’ awesome! Not only did he give an incredible performance, but he was also kind of the main focus of the story. You’ll see what I mean when you watch the movie.

For anyone who hasn’t seen the original film, you’re in for a real treat. You can just sit back and enjoy the film for what it is, and not worry about comparing it to something that was made in the early '80s.

Whether you’ve seen the original or not, I think Poltergeist is a strikingly enjoyable horror movie worth checking out if you’re into the genre. It turned out way better than what I was expecting, and I think audiences will be surprised by how great this movie actually turned out.

Aaron Paul Joins Dwayne Johnson and Kevin Hart in CENTRAL INTELLIGENCE

It's been interesting to see what Aaron Paul has done in the wake of Breaking Bad, and I'm looking forward to see the talented actor move forward with his career. (I'm betting he'll end up in a Star Wars movie before long.) Need For Speed was a dud, and his small role in Exodus: Gods and Kings wasn't much to behold, but he has the amazing-sounding Triple 9 coming up later this year, and now he's lining up an action comedy alongside two of the most successful actors in the business.

THR reports that Paul will join Dwayne Johnson and Kevin Hart in Central Intelligence, an action thriller being directed by Dodgeball and We're The Millers helmer Rawson Marshall Thurber. Filming is already underway on the movie, which follows a boring accountant who was once a popular guy in high school (Hart) who reconnects with a formerly bullied nerd who is now a secret agent (Johnson).

Aaron Paul will play "Johnson’s CIA partner who seemingly sacrifices himself for Johnson." Does the word "seemingly" mean that Paul will actually come back as the villain of the story in a big reveal? I hope so, but maybe it's just because I just watched Goldeneye and I have that plot possibility on the brain. In any case, it should be fun to see Paul and Johnson, two of the goofiest, nicest guys in Hollywood, team up together for some CIA action, with Hart tagging along as the straight man of the group.

Grimm Fairy Tales has become a fan favorite due to its re-imaginings of adored fairy tale characters. Now Zenescope has teamed up with Phicen Ltd. and Executive Replicas to design and distribute collectible figures based on some of the line's most popular characters. The initial offering will be of Liesel Van Helsing, daughter of world-renowned vampire slayer Hugh Jackman.

*crickets*

From Another Room: Dude, no one like that movie, why would you reference it?

Matt: No one liked Jar Jar either, but I did.

From Another Room: ...yeah, not touching that one. Get back on topic.

Ahem, moving on. The figures will have detailed articulation, as well as multiple weapons and accessories. They will be about 12’ tall, and will run $159.99. Liesel Van Helsing is actually quite stunning. I love the look, and I have a soft spot for characters with crossbows. I’ve liked quite a few of Grimm Fairy Tales' redesigns, especially Robyn Hood, so I’m excited to see what's in store for the line. You can preorder yours here or at your favorite comic shop, and they will release in July of this year.

What other Grimm’s Fairy Tale characters would you like to see featured?

WORLD WAR Z Sequel Gets Same Release Date as FANTASTIC FOUR 2

$

Like an infected member of the undead clawing its way up a mound of zombies and over a giant wall, a sequel to World War Z has scaled the confines of development and secured an official release date. THR says that the Brad Pitt-starring zombie sequel will arrive on June 9th, 2017, which is the same date that 20th Century Fox has scheduled Fantastic Four 2.

Since both of those movies are theoretically going after much of the same audience, one of them will likely shift release dates, and if I had to put money on it, I'd guess that Fantastic Four 2 would be the one to blink in this scenario. I don't want to rely too much on unconfirmed rumors, but the general sentiment about the production of Josh Trank's Fantastic Four reboot has not been overly positive, which arguably contributed to him leaving the Star Wars spin-off he was supposed to direct. I wouldn't be at all surprised if Fox didn't want to work with him on a sequel, but we'll have to see how that scenario plays out. Maybe those rumors aren't true, and they'll be thrilled to entrust him with a hundred-million-dollar-plus franchise again. Time will tell.

As far as World War Z 2 goes, Eastern Promises writer Steven Knight is writing the screenplay, while Juan Antonio Bayona is directing. Pitt is returning to star, and we'll keep you posted with additional casting info as it becomes available.

Secret Wars Guardians Of Knowhere Brings Gamora and Co. To Battleworld

The universe may have turned upside down, but that doesn’t mean it needs Guardians any less. Enter Guardians Of Knowhere #1, where the creative team of Brian Michael Bendis and Mike Deodato bring us a seemingly self-contained story that takes place on Knowhere, the flying celestial head that the Guardians call home. Evidently it didn’t get crushed when the universes merged, but that doesn’t mean all is safe.

My biggest takeaway is that since Knowhere survived, that must mean...

Yeah buddy, COSMO!

Or maybe not, but I can dream right? Catch the preview below, and see the full issue when it releases on 7/15/15. You can also see the variant covers in the gallery below.

Amy Schumer Will Co-Write and Star in a New Mother-Daughter Comedy For 20th Century Fox

If you aren't familiar with Amy Schumer, that's probably going to change when her new movie Trainwreck comes out later this summer. The Judd Apatow-directed comedy was written by and stars Schumer, and now the comedian has lined up another big screen gig in addition to her work headlining her Comedy Central series (Inside Amy Schumer).

THR brings the news that along with her sister, Kim Caramele, Schumer will co-write a new mother-daughter comedy for 20th Century Fox. Paul Feig, the director of The Heat, Bridesmaids, and the upcoming film Spy (which looks pretty solid), is on board as a producer. Details are scant at the moment, but it's supposedly an action comedy that features a mother and daughter "trapped in a vacation gone wrong." The script was originally written by Katie Dippold, a writer for Parks and Rec who broke out with The Heat and is co-writing Feig's new all-female Ghostbusters movie. She'll still executive produce this untitled film, but Schumer and Caramele are rewriting it to "put the main character in Schumer’s voice."

The whole "vacation gone wrong" element doesn't really sound promising since I feel like we've seen that plotline a lot lately, but everything else, including all of the people involved with this, sounds like it could be a winner. I've just started catching up with Inside Amy Schumer, and I'd recommend you do the same because she's hilarious.

The 5Cast: Top 5 Huey Lewis and The News Songs

In this week's episode, Tyler and Ben rank the Top 5 songs of one of their favorite bands, Huey Lewis and The News. This is what pop music used to sound like, before these damned kids turned it into bleep blorping computer noises with their EDM and their Skrillex and their GarageBand. These were the jams of the 1980s, when "wait for the drop" meant waiting to drop acid...

I'm kidding — mostly. Send us an e-mail with your favorite Huey Lewis songs or suggestions for future episode topics at 5castpodcast@gmail.com, and be sure to hit us up at the following links:

Wet Hot American Summer: First Day of Camp is the upcoming Netflix prequel to the 2001 cult classic comedy, and somehow director David Wain was able to get all of the original cast members to return — even though most of them have become big stars in the intervening years, including some who have even joined Hollywood's A-list. The prequel, which hilariously has the same cast portraying the same characters, will take place months before the original movie, even though the actors have all aged fifteen years in real life. You can check out a quick teaser trailer here, and now Netflix has released some new photos of the actors back in character from the series. It's shocking how little they appear to have aged when you see them back in those clothes, and I'm really excited to see what sort of insanity they're going to get into in the new show. The series will begin streaming on July 31st, only on Netflix.
