Japanese Trailer for DAWN OF THE PLANET OF THE APES

japanese-trailer-for-dawn-of-the-planet-of-the-apes

Hot damn, this movie looks good! A new international trailer has been released for Matt Reeves' Dawn of the Planet of the Apes. This is a Japanese trailer, and it offers up some more great footage from the sequel. The more I see of it, the more excited I get. After the original director, Rupert Sanders, left the production I lost some confidence in this film, but it looks like Reeves has really pulled it together and made a great flick.

A growing nation of genetically evolved apes led by Caesar is threatened by a band of human survivors of the devastating virus unleashed a decade earlier. They reach a fragile peace, but it proves short-lived, as both sides are brought to the brink of a war that will determine who will emerge as Earth's dominant species.

The movie is set to be released on July 11th! Thanks to Trailer Addict for the embed.

3 Directors up for Marvel's ANT-MAN

3-directors-up-for-marvels-ant-man-social.jpg

Marvel Studios has to move fast on hiring a director for Ant-Man if they want to make their July 17th, 2015 release date. THR has a list of three directors that the studio is currently looking at to replace Edgar Wright in the director's chair.

According to their sources, the three directors are Rawson Thurber, Adam McKay, and Ruben Fleischer. Thurber has directed film such as We're the Millers and Dodgeball: A True Underdog Story, McKay is the man behind the Anchorman movies, and Fleischer has given us films such as Zombieland, 30 Minutes or Less, and Gangster Squad.

None of them really match the power of what Wright could have brought to the movie, and in my opinion they are all a step down. This really makes me wish that James Gunn rumor had been true.

Marvel is obviously still looking for a comedic tone, so they are going after directors with that experience. I just don't think any of them have the finesse that Wright brings to his films. I guess if I had to make a choice I would choose Fleischer because out of all of the films that these directors have made, Zombieland is my favorite.

McKay might have the edge, though, because he's worked with Paul Rudd on his Anchorman films, so there's familiarity there. I could see Rudd trying to lobby for McKay to get the gig.

Nothing is set in stone yet, and no official offers have been made, but of these three choices, who would you like to see land the job?

Intense Trailer for Liam Neeson's A WALK AMONG THE TOMBSTONES

intense-trailer-for-liam-neesons-a-walk-among-the-tombstones

Liam Neeson's new mystery thriller, A Walk Among the Tombstones, looks freakin' amazing. Universal Pictures released the first trailer for it, and this is going to be a movie worth watching. You can tell that this is going to be a very dark and intense film. Neeson seems like the kind of guy you wouldn't want to mess with… ever.

The movie is based on a book written by Lawrence Black. The story follows "an ex-NYPD cop who now works as an unlicensed private investigator operating just outside the law. When Scudder reluctantly agrees to help a heroin trafficker (Dan Stevens) hunt down the men who kidnapped and then brutally murdered his wife, the PI learns that this is not the first time these men have committed this sort of twisted crime... nor will it be the last. Blurring the lines between right and wrong, Scudder races to track the deviants through the backstreets of New York City before they kill again."

The movie will be released on September 19th.

Marilyn Manson Cast in Major Role for SONS OF ANARCHY

Sons of Anarchy is one of the best shows on television right now, and with its last season being filmed as we speak, info is starting to leak out. If you want to be surprised by what the final season has to offer, I would suggest that you stop reading this post because it could be considered spoilerish.

As the title suggests, Marilyn Manson has been cast in the show. Variety gave us a little insight into his character, reporting:

"Manson will play Ron Tully, an imprisoned white supremacist shot-caller who Jax uses to expand his power base."

Manson has been working on his acting career and this is by far the biggest role that he has had up to this point. This is what he told Variety about the role:

Sons has been such a big part of my life, as well as my father’s. So I was determined to make him proud by being involved in what will probably be remembered as the most amazing piece of television cinema. After all, the very heart of SOA is about that relationship. So, now all I need is a motorcycle.”

I am a huge fan of the show. This last season left us with the biggest cliffhangers of the series. I can’t wait for the next season to start. I think that Manson is a perfect fit for the strange world of Charming and all of its inhabitants. Showrunner Kurt Sutter has promised many surprises in this season and I can’t wait to get this party started.

Hugh Jackman's Audition Video for Wolverine in X-MEN

It has been amazing watching Hugh Jackman grow into Wolverine over the years. It's hard to imagine anyone else playing the character, so it's good to hear he might stick around a little bit longer. Jackman auditioned for X-Men in 1999, and the video of his audition with Bryan Singer has found its way online. It even includes dialogue that never made it into the movie, some of which is dark. It's really interesting to see the actor in an audition like this because I don't think he has to audition for movie roles anymore. It's easy to see why they gave him the part. Thanks to CBM for the tip.

A MILLION WAYS TO DIE IN THE WEST - Movie Review

A-Million-Ways-To-Die-In-The-West-2014-Movie-Review-We-Live-Film.jpg

Seth MacFarlane is a funny dude. If you thought the trailers for A Million Ways to Die in the West were funny, just wait until you watch the full movie. It's one great joke after another. MacFarlane definitely has a talent for making people laugh. At least those people that like his sense of humor. I really enjoyed his first feature film, Ted, and this one was an even better all around film. Being a fan of Westerns, the setting played a huge part of why I liked it so much.

The story was simple, but strong. It follows a cowardly sheepherder named Albert (played by MacFarlane) whose girlfriend (Amanda Seyfriend) breaks up with him after he worms his way out of a gunfight. She ends up in a relationship with Foy (Neil Patrick Harris), the owner of the town's mustache salon.

Not long after, a new girl named Anna (Charlize Theron) rides into town to hide out for a few days. Albert ends up saving her life in an insanely over the top saloon fight. They become friends and bond over their hatred for the Old West. She sets out on a mission to help him win his girl back. I won't reveal anymore about the plot as I want to keep this review spoiler free.

As you would expect from Macfarlane, the movie is extremely vulgar with lots of Old West profanity and a ton of sexual jokes. It also had its fair share of gross out moments. One of the most surprising aspects of the film is how violent it was. I really didn't expect to see that level of violence in the movie, but it was all in good fun and entertaining to watch.  There are many moments of absurdity, but they land with an awesomely awkward grace.

One of the things I enjoyed most about the movie were the amazing cameos. I won't ruin them for you, but I was shocked by who they were able to get. The cameos are all really short, but well worth the hilarity that they bring to the movie. There's also a mid-credits scene that you have to stay for, so don't leave after you think the movie is going to end.

You can tell that MacFarlane and the cast had a hell of a fun time making this movie. The whole cast was great. It was all acted out in a contemporary style, which made things fun and interesting. The only unfunny person in the film was Liam Neeson, but he was supposed to play a hardcore asshole killer. They didn't lighten up his character at all with any kind of comedy, he was 100% villain. It worked for what the movie was though.

The whole time I was watching the movie I was thinking that MacFarlane could really be the next Mel Brooks. I had a blast watching this movie and, like I said earlier, if you enjoy the director's style of comedy then I think you will too.

Josh Brolin Cast as Thanos in GUARDIANS OF THE GALAXY

$

We've got some big news from our friends at Latino-Review regarding Marvel's Guardians of the Galaxy. According to their inside source, Josh Brolin has been cast in the ultimate villain role of Thanos! How freakin' awesome is that?! It has yet to be confirmed by the studio, but the site says he will be providing the voice of the character, and they seem very sure of themselves.

We've known that Thanos was going to be in the film, that's no secret. We just don't know how big of a role he will actually have. Marvel obviously will build on the character as the Marvel cinematic universe continues to roll forward. I'm sure the studio has locked Brolin in to a multi picture deal just like every other actor they bring into their system. The actor has a badass voice, so he's going to work perfectly.

Marvel has been teasing the Infinity Gauntlet in some of their movies, and one day Thanos is going to see his day on the big screen as the main villain in their cinematic universe.

CLIFFHANGER Remake Is Moving Forward

Sylvester Stallone's wonderfully terrible 1993 action thriller Cliffhanger is getting the remake treatment. It's kind of been gestating for awhile with producer Neal Moritz and Studio Canal, but they are ready to actually move it into production. They’ve hired Joe Gazzam to write the screenplay after he pitched his take on the movie. They obviously liked the direction he wanted to take the story.

The original Renny Harlin-directed mountain climbing film focused on a traumatized mountain climber, who is forced back into an expedition after a plane crash leaves a lot of stolen cash and bad guys scattered across the Rocky Mountains.

I haven't seen the original movie in years, but I do remember when I first saw it, and how laughably bad it was. I'm sure it's even worse after all these years. I seriously can't believe someone wanted to remake this movie. It looks like the 90s are coming back in style!

CBS Films has released the first trailer for Daniel Radcliffe's upcoming romantic comedy, What If. Now before you write this off and dismiss it as just another romantic comedy, just watch the trailer first. I'm not a big romantic comedy kind of guy, but there are a few out there that I really like, and this one actually looks quite entertaining. Here's the synopsis:

What If is the story of medical school dropout Wallace (Radcliffe), who's been repeatedly burned by bad relationships. So while everyone around him, including his roommate Allan (Adam Driver) seems to be finding the perfect partner (Mackenzie Davis), Wallace decides to put his love life on hold. It is then that he meets Chantry (Zoe Kazan) an animator who lives with her longtime boyfriend Ben (Rafe Spall). Wallace and Chantry form an instant connection, striking up a close friendship. Still, there is no denying the chemistry between them, leading the pair to wonder, what if the love of your life is actually your best friend? The ensemble romantic comedy costars Megan Park and Oona Chaplin.

The movie was directed by Michael Dowse (Goon), and is set to be released on August 1st.

Lee Pace Talks Ronan the Accuser in GUARDIANS OF THE GALAXY

ee-pace-talks-ronan-the-accuser-in-guardians-of-the-galaxy

In a recent interview with Hitfix, Lee Pace talks about the villainous character he plays in James Gunn's Guardians of the Galaxy. The name of his character is Ronan the Accuser, and from the little bit of him that I've seen in the movie trailers he's going to kick some major ass. When talking about the character Pace declares that it's the "craziest F***ing thing" he's ever been a part of. He goes on to say:

"I'm really excited about this character. I mean he's nuts. I mean I've never played anything like it and I've had such a good, it's one of those things where you don't know how to approach something like this. This is not Joe MacMillan. You can't think, 'Well, you know, this is my relationship with my father...' It's not that. There's none of that, you now, kind of 'This is how I would go about dealing with these problems.' It's a complete kind of act of imagination. But in the hands of James Gunn, I'm such a fan of his movies. So it's very much a creation of his and I found my self being like, 'Alright, let's do it. You tell me what you're into here.'"

When asked what he was most excited about seeing in Guardians of the Galaxy he said Groot, then added:

"I'm really excited to see that character because we didn't get to work with him on-set. Both Groot and Rocket were never there. So we never got to see them. Of course, I want to see how my spaceship turns out. I've [seen] a little bit of the concept art and whatnot but, yeah. That movie is going to be really good."

I personally can't wait to see more of Ronan, this guy looks like a crazy menacing villain! The movie hit theaters on August 1st.

Awful Trailer for Nicolas Cage's Thriller LEFT BEHIND

Oh Nicolas Cage… why have you resorted to making these kinds of movies? You used to make really fun flicks like The Rock and Con Air, and you even won an Academy Award for Leaving Las Vegas! What the hell?!

Stoney Lake Entertainment has released a teaser trailer for his new film Left Behind, and it looks terrible. Cage isn't even trying to act. It is based on the New York Times bestselling book series of the same name, co-authored by Jerry B. Jenkins and Tim LaHaye.

Left Behind follows Rayford Steele (Nicolas Cage) who is piloting a commercial airliner just hours after the Rapture when millions of people around the globe simply vanish. Thirty thousand feet over the Atlantic, Rayford is faced with a damaged plane, terrified passengers, and a desperate desire to get back to his family. On the ground, his daughter, Chloe Steele (Cassi Thomson) is among those left behind, forced to navigate a world of madness as she searches for her lost mother and brother.

The movie was directed by Vic Armstrong and also stars Chad Michael Murray, Cassi Thomson, Nicky Whelan, Lea Thompson, Jordan Sparks, Quinton Aaron, and Martin Klebba. It's set to be released on October 3rd.
