Star-Lord Likes Listening to Music in the Heat of Battle and Other Details From GUARDIANS OF THE GALAXY VOL. 2

One of the many things that made the first Guardians of the Galaxy so great was the music. Fans loved Awesome Mix, Vol. 1 and they're are looking forward to another epic soundtrack with Awesome Mix, Vol. 2. It will feature songs from Sweet, Fleetwood Mac, Jay and the Americans, and more that have yet to be revealed.

Some of these songs will factor into the plot of Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2, and they will play a more important role. On top of that, it's revealed that Star-Lord enjoys listening to his tunes when he's in the heat of battle. Marvel Studios President Kevin Feige talked to Screen Rant about the soundtrack:

"[The music] is all off the tape. It’s all off of Volume 2. I would say that the other Guardians now know that music is a thing for Peter, so in early scenes, what you see baby Groot here - which he’s just ‘Groot’ in the movie, but on set we call him baby Groot - he’s setting up these little outer space speakers so that the music can play for all of them, because Quill likes to hear music when he’s fighting. So, it does go to more than just his headset, but it’s all based off of Volume 2. And I would say that a couple of the songs, and particularly one song has very unique lyrics that play in much more specific part into the plot, than any song did in the first film."

It's cool that the rest of the team have jumped onboard Peter Quill's music bandwagon. Director James Gunn talked about working with this smaller, more mischievous version of Groot in the sequel saying:

"Quite honestly, I’d say baby Groot [was easier], but the reason for that is unknown. A lot of times on the first movie we were like 'are we even putting Groot in this movie?' Because Sean [Gunn] plays Rocket on set, and he’s so present as Rocket that you’re very aware of Rocket as a character. The guy playing Groot was a stand-in on the last movie and so he was there we just kind of always forgot he was there. He doesn’t talk very much, so you’re doing all these scenes and when we have the scenes in the movie where they turn to Groot and Groot’s like 'why are you forgetting me?' That’s really what we felt like while we were shooting the first film. And I think also, the whole personality of Groot and who he was, it was there on the page and then you forget about it while you were shooting the first movie. But now everyone knows Groot so well that we have a much larger awareness, me and the cast, of a baby Groot being there at all times."

Everyone seems to be loving what they've seen of Groot in Vol. 2, and I can only imagine this is just a little taste of what the movie has planned for him. Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2 will hit theaters on May 5th!

Kate McKinnon Perfectly Cast as Ms. Frizzle in Netflix's MAGIC SCHOOL BUS Series

SNL and Ghostbusters star Kate McKinnon has been cast as the voice of Ms. Frizzle in Netflix's upcoming series Magic School Bus Rides Again. McKinnon is the perfect actress to take on this character. Hell, she's so perfect it makes me wish she were playing a live-action version of the character.

According to THR, the series will feature "a modernized Ms. Frizzle and her class along with an inventive high-tech bus. The series will also highlight the latest tech innovations such as robotics, wearables, and camera technology to -- like in the original series -- encourage children's interest in science."

This sounds like it will be a fun series for kids to watch. The voice of Ms. Frizzle in the original series was provided by Lily Tomlin. I never really watched the original series, but I have read many of the books written by Joanna Cole because of my kids.

The series reboot has been in development since 2014, and it will consist of 26 half-hour episodes.

DRIVE's Nicolas Winding Refn Will Direct a 10 Episode Crime Thriller TOO OLD TO DIE YOUNG

Drive, Only God Forgives, and Neon Demon director Nicolas Winding Refn is teaming up with Amazon Studios to develop a new crime thriller called Too Old To Die Young. Refn will direct all ten episodes of the series and co-write it with Ed Brubaker (Westworld).

The series explores the criminal underbelly of Los Angeles. It's described as being in "a similar vein to Refn’s Pusher trilogy, which looked at Danish criminals caught up in the drug trade. It explores various characters’ existential journeys from being killers to becoming samurai’s in the city of angels."

Refn is an interesting director who makes very unconventional films. Whether you like his stuff or not, when you go see his movies, audiences are certainly met with an interesting experience. Bringing his storytelling and filmmaking style to a series like this will prove to be fascinating.

Too Old To Die Young will start shooting in Los Angeles this fall, so I guess we can expect to see it premiere sometime in 2018. According to Variety, Amazon and Refn are looking at several big name stars to join the series. Refn has a wish list and there are already offers out to three lead male roles. The report doesn't reveal who they are, but I imagine one of them is Ryan Gosling

I'm curious to see what Refn is planning for this series.

New BEAUTY AND THE BEAST Spots Drop Tiny Morsels of New Footage

Check out these two new TV spots for Disney’s live action adaptation of Beauty and the Beast. Cumulatively, there is about 1.5 seconds worth of new footage to get excited about. In the spot called “Break the Curse,” we see about half a second of the Prince’s transformation into the Beast, and then later Gaston punches the Beast, like, really hard. Of course, none of this is really new to you if you have seen the animated version.

I am just really excited about this movie, you guys. I was seven when the animated film came out, and Belle was my homegirl, and the songs were so good, and the fact that the villain was way hotter than the hero set me up for a lifetime of attraction to good-looking jerks. When the live-action Cinderella came out I really appreciated the way slight tweaks made Cinderella less of a victim without changing anything about the story, but I don’t want them to tweak anything for this one. I will gladly take a shot for shot remake of the animated film with a cast of really attractive people, and I will say a prayer thanking God that Luke Evans is alive to play Gaston. That’s it.

Here’s the synopsis, as if you don’t already know:

Disney’s Beauty and the Beast is a live-action re-telling of the studio’s animated classic which refashions the classic characters from the tale as old as time for a contemporary audience, staying true to the original music while updating the score with several new songs. “Beauty and the Beast” is the fantastic journey of Belle, a bright, beautiful and independent young woman who is taken prisoner by a beast in his castle. Despite her fears, she befriends the castle’s enchanted staff and learns to look beyond the Beast’s hideous exterior and realize the kind heart and soul of the true Prince within.

Emma Watson is the Beauty, Dan Stevens is the Beast, and they are joined by Kevin Kline, Ewan McGregor, Sir Ian McKellan, Emma Thompson, and Josh Gad. Beauty and the Beast roars into theaters on March 17. Catch up on all the trailers and news here.

Tony Stark Is Getting Ultimate Iron Man-Inspired Armor in SPIDER-MAN: HOMECOMING

It looks like Tony Stark will be wearing a new suit of armor in Spider-Man: Homecoming! Hasbro revealed the line of six-inch Marvel Legends action figures they will be releasing for the film, and one of them shows a suit of armor that was obviously inspired by the look of Ultimate Iron Man. It’s a badass design, and it’s going to be really cool to see it in action. I already can’t wait for Hot Toys’ 1/6th scale take on the armor! This is a much sleeker version of the suit than the design in the comics, and I love it.

We also get to see an early version of Peter Parker’s Spider-Man costume before he got his Tony Stark upgrade. There are also a couple of Spider-Man in his new suit and one with his web-wings. There's also a figure of Vulture. Each of the figures come with a wing piece for Vulture and when you collect them all you can build the wings for his figure.

What do you think of Stark's new armor?

New LOGAN Viral Video Shows Wolverine's Depressing Life as a Chauffeur

We have a new viral video for Logan that gives us a depressing look at Hugh Jackman's Wolverine living a pitiful-looking life as a chauffeur in Las Vegas. This is how Logan has been spending his days in retirement, and it doesn't look like he's enjoying it.

The video is in black and white and is incredibly moody. It also includes a voiceover from the character as he calls a number he found in the pennysaver ads inquiring about a Sunseeker boat that's for sale. It sounds to me like he's looking to buy the boat for Professor Xavier.

It paints Logan in a very different light than we've ever seen him in before. We don't know if this will be included in the movie or not, but if it is, it could work as an opening title sequel.

In the near future, a weary Logan cares for an ailing Professor X in a hide out on the Mexican border. But Logan's attempts to hide from the world and his legacy are up-ended when a young mutant arrives, being pursued by dark forces.

Logan claws its way into theaters on March 3.

Judi Dench Helps Josh Gad Bombard Daisy Ridley With More THE LAST JEDI Questions

Josh Gad and Daisy Ridley are part of the ensemble cast of Kenneth Branagh's remake of Murder on the Orient Express, and ever since the official title of Star Wars: Episode VIII was revealed to be Star Wars: The Last Jedi, Gad has been pestering Ridley with questions about the movie that he knows she's not allowed to answer.

I invited #daisyridley to my trailer under false pretenses. #NotARehearsal #IWantTheTruth #TheLastJedi

A video posted by Josh Gad (@joshgad) on

But yesterday, Gad took it up a notch. Instead of just him trying to sneak attack or cajole information out of Ridley, he brought on his illustrious co-star Dame Judi Dench to help out:

It's pretty hilarious to hear someone as respected as Dench play along and ask questions about midichlorians with a straight face. Now I'm wondering if Gad is going to take the opportunity to just run through the Orient Express's stacked cast and have them all ask Ridley questions while filming is still going on. So keep your eyes out for possible videos from Michael PenaMichelle Pfeiffer, Lucy Boynton, Johnny Depp, Penelope Cruz, and Willem Dafoe (or, if we're lucky, all of them at the same time).

Rosario Dawson Wants to Play a Live-Action Ahsoka Tano in STAR WARS

Rosario Dawson (Daredevil, Jessica Jones, Luke Cage) seems to be very interested in playing a live action version of Star Wars Jedi Ahsoka Tano! The actress responded to a fan on Twitter who asked if she would be interested in the role:

Dawson In Daredevil

Dawson In Daredevil

Going back and forth between pictures of Ahsoka in Star Wars: The Clone Wars and Dawson, I could definitely see it being a match! I can also say an appearance by Ahsoka Tano in the Star Wars films would go over HUGE with fans. The character started off as a pest in the popular Cartoon Network series but quickly grew on fans as her attachment to her Jedi Master Anakin grew.

We need this to happen! Let's hope the right people are reading this right now!

This HARRY POTTER/BEAUTY AND THE BEAST Mashup Is Disturbing (But Incredibly Well Made)

What if Voldemort was the beast in the live-action remake of Beauty and the Beast? That's the twisted situation that PistolShrimp's latest mashup posits, and considering that means there's a bizarre romance between Harry Potter stars Emma Watson and Ralph Fiennes, it's far more repulsive than your typical mashup. That being said, the editing is remarkably well done, adding all sorts of touches that unite the wizarding world with that of the fairy tale remake. See if you can spot them all in the video below:

The HAN SOLO Movie Is Getting a New Alien or Droid Character Played by Phoebe Waller-Bridge

Lucasfilm's Han Solo movie will introduce another mysterious character who will be joining his entourage. According to Variety, Phoebe Waller-Bridge from the Amazon series Fleabag will be playing this new character, which is said to play a key role in the story.

The report goes on to reveal that the role will be a CGI-driven performance much like the characters Chewbacca, C-3P0, and Alan Tudyk’s K-2SO from Rogue One. This means that the character will either be a droid or an alien.

There's no other information on who this character is, but it could be a completely new character created for the film, or there's always a chance that it could be an already existing character from somewhere in the Star Wars universe. We'll just have to wait and see.

Waller-Bridge will join Alden Ehrenreich as Solo, Donald Glover as Lando, Woody Harrelson as Garris Shrike, and Emilia Clarke in an unspecified role. The Phil Lord and Chris Miller-directed movie will hit theaters on May 25, 2018.

Tom Hanks Has a Sinister Agenda with Emma Watson in New Trailer for THE CIRCLE

A new trailer has been released for Tom Hanks and Emma Watson's new privacy invasion thriller The Circle. The story is set in a world where people's privacy is invaded and exploited through modern technology. Of course, it's all packaged and branded as a positive universal operating system that will usher in a new age of civility and transparency. As you might expect, things really aren't as they seem. It looks like a great film that will tell an intriguing story.

The film comes from director James Ponsoldt (The Spectacular Now and The End of the Tour), and it's an adaptation of the book written by Dave Eggers. The film also boasts a great supporting cast that includes John Boyega, Karen Gillan, Ellar Coltrane, Bill Paxton, and Patton Oswalt. As a fan of pretty much everyone that is in this film, I've gotta see it! It will also be interesting to see Hanks play a villainous role because that's something we rarely get to see him do.

The Circle is a gripping modern thriller, set in the not-too-distant future, starring Emma Watson (“Harry Potter”), Tom Hanks (“Sully”) and John Boyega (“Star Wars: The Force Awakens”). When Mae (Emma Watson) is hired to work for the world’s largest and most powerful tech & social media company, she sees it as an opportunity of a lifetime. As she rises through the ranks, she is encouraged by the company’s founder, Eamon Bailey (Tom Hanks), to engage in a groundbreaking experiment that pushes the boundaries of privacy, ethics and ultimately her personal freedom. Her participation in the experiment, and every decision she makes begin to affect the lives and future of her friends, family and that of humanity.

The Circle is set to open on April 28th.

STRANGER THINGS Season 2 - New Photo and New Character and Plot Details

We've got more Stranger Things season two goodies for you today! You can see a new image from the upcoming season above featuring Dustin (Gaten Matarazzo), Mike (Finn Wolfhard), and Lucas (Caleb McLaughlin), and Will (Noah Schnapp) trick-or-treating as Ghostbusters. Also, thanks to EW, we have some new information regarding the characters and plot of the second season!

We know that the season two is set in 1984, a year after the events of the first season. Will is infected by something from the Upside Down, this was made apparent at the end of season one when he threw up a nasty giant slug. But now he is having strange visions. Co-creator Matt Duffer explains:

“He seems to be seeing images from the Upside Down—the question is whether they’re real or not. So it seems like he’s having some sort of post-traumatic stress disorder.”

While this is all going on, Will's mom Joyce is trying to keep her family together. She's started dating an old friend from high school named Bob, who is being played by Sean Astin. She hopes that he can give her boys a father figure to look up to. Winona Ryder says:

“She’s trying to mask a lot. I think she’s made this choice with Bob because she wants a good father figure in her sons’ lives.”

As for Hopper, he's trying to keep everything a secret, including the disappearance of Barb. He's doing this because he thinks it's a way to protect Joyce and her kids. According to David Harbour

"It kind of falls on Hopper to be the voice of authority to say, ‘This did happen and this didn’t happen,’ He’s struggling with the compromise that takes him to, having to lie and cover things up.”

When it come to Nancy and Mike, they are in a messed up place as they mourn the deaths of Barb and Eleven. Ross Duffer explains:

“She and Mike are both the most screwed-up because they’re the ones who both lost someone. They’re both grappling with that, and we see the effects.”

We also have some new information on two new characters being introduced in season two! They are a brother and sister by the names of Billy (Dacre Montgomery) and Max (Sadie Sink). Both Lucas and Dustin end up having a crush on Max. As for Billy, he's not really out to make friends. Matt Duffer teases:

“Stephen King always has really great human villains. The evil in the real world is often as bad or worse than the supernatural evil, so we wanted to introduce a character like that.”

Sounds to me like Billy is going to end up bullying the characters we've come to love. Another new character being brought into the mix is Dr. Owens, who is played by Paul Reiser. He's described as "seemingly friendly," which means he could be putting on a face when deep down there's something more sinister going on with him.

There are also new creatures and monsters teased in the report. Matt says that they will be exploring “different kinds of horror.” Then according to Matarazzo, Dustin will have a new creature for a pet. He says:

“It’s a little creature I get to bond with. It’s obviously not from this planet or this dimension.

There's no new information on Eleven, but we know she is set to return! Stranger Things returns this Halloween!

"That's Kong. He's king around here."

Legendary Pictures is keeping the excitement for Kong: Skull Island alive with the release of two great extended TV spots for the film. We also have a new IMAX poster for you to check out. The new promos feature some exciting and fun new footage from the film, and they have a fun and adventurous tone as a team of people go to a place where myth and science meet. I'm really excited about seeing this movie, and we only have one more month to wait before it's released!

Kong: Skull Island reimagines the origin of the mythic Kong in a compelling, original adventure. In the film, a diverse team of explorers is brought together to venture deep into an uncharted island in the Pacific—as beautiful as it is treacherous—unaware that they’re crossing into the domain of the mythic Kong.

Kong: Skull Island was directed by John Vogt-Roberts and has a great cast that includes Tom Hiddleston, Samuel L. Jackson, Brie Larson, John Goodman, and John C. Reilly. The supporting cast features Tian Jing, Corey Hawkins, Jason Mitchell, John Ortiz, Thomas Mann, Shea Whigham, Toby Kebbell, and Eugene Cordero.

Kong: Skull Island opens in theaters March 10, 2017.

OK, OK, so the opening credits sequence of Ryan Murphy's Feud: Bette and Joan isn't so much inspired by Alfred Hitchcock himself as it is by Saul Bass, who created a ton of amazing opening credits sequences for Hitchcock's films. But the association between those two men is unbreakable, and it's a testament to the type of style Murphy is trying to achieve with the show that he'd ape something so incredibly recognizable to drop viewers into his heightened world every week. The first season of Feud premieres on March 5, 2017, but in the meantime, feast your eyes on this beauty:

Video Traces The Evolution of Keanu Reeves as an Actor

When John Wick came out in 2014, I wasn't crazy about Keanu Reeves' performance in it. But it all clicked for me with John Wick 2, and you can read more about that revelation in my review of the movie. In honor of that film's release, Burger Fiction has put together one of their "evolution of" videos that traces Reeves' career from his early movies all the way up to today. A positive note: It's crazy how young he still looks after all of these years. A negative note: the dude can not do accents to save his life. And what the heck are Little Buddha and Freaked? I've never heard of those in my life, and they look completely insane. I might have to check those out just for the sheer WTF factor.
