Exquisite Trailer for Season 3 of HANNIBAL

I've seen a few episodes of Hannibal here and there, but haven't taken the time to sit down and fully catch up with the show yet. For those of you who are all caught up, you might be interested in checking out this new trailer (via BAD) for the upcoming third season, which contains the same gorgeous visual hallmarks that this show has had since it premiered.

The third season was recently pushed back, so it will now premiere this summer. So hopefully this trailer will tide you over for the next five or six months until Fox finds a slot to drop the show back on its calendar.

It's Sonic vs. Mario in the Craziest Smash Bros. Battle You'll Ever See

I used to think I was decent at Super Smash Bros. My friends and I would play all the time, and while I certainly wasn't world-class, I thought I could hold my own pretty well. But this video from ᴸᴼᴸᴵ ᴯᴿᴬᴵᵡᴱᴺ, which features Sonic the Hedgehog and Mario beating the ever-loving sh*t out of each other, takes things to a whole different level.

Kotaku pointed me to the video, and they say that this video was created using a mod for Smash Bros. Brawl called Project M. It appears that the mod makes epic battles possible that you wouldn't be able to pull off in the normal game itself, and from the look of this particular battle, that's definitely the case. Both players reach upwards of 500% damage, and there were numerous times I was certain that they'd both fallen off the edge of the level only for them both to come punching and kicking their way back up to the top again. It's a truly outstanding performance from both of them, and without giving anything away, I like how it ends. (Don't forget to stick around for Sudden Death.)

After watching a recently released video sneak peek for The Divergent Series: Insurgent, I'm actually looking forward to watching it in theaters. The first movie didn't really draw my interest enough for me to see it theatrically, so I caught up with it later on Blu-ray and very much enjoyed it. The scope of the second film seems five times larger than the first, and maybe that's due to a larger budget. Summit Entertainment (via EW) released five new neck cracking posters and five motion posters. I've seen movie motion posters in action at the mall recently and it makes me wonder how far this trend will push. I hope they never replace the back-lit posters at theaters.

Insurgent brings the fight to theaters March 20th (USA).

Supercut of All the Interfaces in STAR WARS: A NEW HOPE

It's 2015, so you might think that with 38 years having passed since the release of the original Star Wars, fans have come up with all of the possible ways to dissect, analyze, and present the footage in fascinating new ways. But Star Wars fans are a persistent bunch, and so Vimeo user Dino Ignacio recently uploaded this supercut of all of the interfaces that are used in A New Hope. It features, as he says, "all the moments in A New Hope where characters interacted with machines, doors, screens, levers, knobs and buttons," and as usual with supercuts like these, watching this makes you notice elements of the film you might not have put much thought into before.

New Possible Director Surfaces for AQUAMAN, Karl Urban May Join Cast

Last month, rumor spread that Mud and Take Shelter director Jeff Nichols was being considered to direct WB/DC's Aquaman solo film starring Game of Thrones actor Jason Momoa. Now Latino-Review reports that 300: Rise of an Empire director Noam Murro is a new contender for the job, although a final decision hasn't been made as of yet. As LR notes, the Murro possibility makes sense considering his ties with 300: ROAE producer Zack Snyder who, though not officially considered a godfather of WB's superhero franchise, is about as close as it gets considering he'll have directed Man of Steel, Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice, and both parts of the upcoming Justice League (at least) when all is said and done.

I'm hoping they stick with Jeff Nichols (keep your eyes peeled for his first studio movie, Midnight Special, to debut this year), but we'll have to wait and see how it plays out.

Meanwhile, the outlet also mentions that WB is waiting on Star Trek 3 to enter (and finish) production before they really get going on Aquaman, because they have their eye on Karl Urban to join the cast as a supporting character - possibly the villain. That's a fascinating prospect, because I'm a big fan of Urban's work in both the Star Trek franchise and in Dredd, and it'll be interesting to see whoever the producers decide to cast face off against Momoa. I met Momoa briefly one time, and being in the same room with him, it's clear that he's so jacked he could snap me in half without even thinking twice about it (I'm 6'1, 195 lbs). Whoever ends up going up against that guy has their work cut out for them.

Aquaman hits theaters on July 27th, 2018, so we have a few years to wait before we get to see The King of the Sea wreck some people by himself. (Momoa will first appear in character in BVS: Dawn of Justice, then in Justice League, and then in this solo movie.)

Steel-Alloy Batmobile Keychain

My favorite Batmobile of all time is from Tim Burton's 1989 film Batman. The folks at Think Geek used digital files from the Warner Bros.' archive to create an accurate two inch steel-alloy replica of the Anton Furst design. At only $10, this might be a fun gift to buy for yourself (or other people).

As a kid, I had a die-cast version that was the same size. I took it everywhere, until I lost it. Thankfully I had a second one...which I also lost. As an adult, I now have much a much larger one, which I don't plan to lose anytime soon.

Director Bryan Singer made some big casting announcements on his Twitter last night for his upcoming film X-Men: ApocalypseSophie Turner (Game of Thrones) is set to play Jean Grey, Alexandra Shipp (House of Anubis) is taking on the role of Storm, and Tye Sheridan (Mud) will play Cyclops.

We knew that would see younger versions of these characters in this film that is set to take place in the 1980s, and it seems like they've cast some solid young talent. They will join James McAvoy, Michael Fassbender, Jennifer Lawrence, Oscar Isaac, and Nicholas Hoult in the film.

We still don't know all of the details about the movie, but we've heard that it will involve ancient mutants and explore a deeper relationship between Magneto and Mystique. Quicksilver will also be back for at least one scene in the movie, but I'd like to see them beef up his role a little more since he's a likable character, and he kind of had the best scene in Days of Future Past

The movie is set to be released on May 27th, 2016. What do you think about the latest casting for the film? Do you think that they fit the roles they've been cast in?

Zelda’s Link Takes on Zombies in Fan Short - LINK TO A NEW WORLD

Link, the character from the hit video game franchise Zelda, takes on zombies in a Nintendo set post-apocalyptic universe in this fan-made live-action short film called "Link To A New World." It may have some amateur production value, but it also has some great elements that make it fun to watch. Here’s a description of the video, which was created by Forgehouse Films:

Universes have collided, a king of one world and a legendary hero of another have been thrust into the zombie apocalypse. One had been looting powerful items during the chaos of the clash and the other is determined to get his back.
Link to a New World is a fan film mashup based on the popular Zelda video game series, Mario Bros and a not-your-normal zombie apocalypse world. A Zombie Apocalypse that is not as it appears... We follow Link as he makes his way through this strange new world, a world that is eerily familiar, yet enchanting and horrifying...

It looks like this might be the start of a fun series. What do you think?

Marvel Looking to Cast Chiwetel Ejiofor in DOCTOR STRANGE

Marvel Studios and director Scott Derrickson are looking to start beefing up the cast for Doctor Strange, and it's being reported that Chiwetel Ejiofor (12 Years a Slave, Serenity) might join Benedict Cumberbatch and Daniel Bruhl in the highly anticipated film.

According to The Wrap, the actor is really close to solidifying the deal and is even turning down other movie roles so that his schedule is open for Doctor Strange. That's a pretty good sign that this is going to happen.

Marvel hasn't officially confirmed the casting yet, and there are no details on who he will be playing. There has been talk of the villain Baron Mordo appearing in the film, but according to the sites sources he will not be playing that character. Bruhl will most likely be taking on that role.

They speculate that Ejiofor will be playing the Ancient One, who serves as mentor to both Stephen Strange and Baron Mordo, and precedes Strange as Earth’s Sorcerer Supreme. He seems a little young for the role to me, but I guess they could make him look older if they need to.

THR also suggests that the actor might be playing Doctor Strange's monk servant and sidekick, Wong. The only issue with that is Wong is Chinese in the comics. You never know, though, Marvel could easily have switched things up for the movies.

Ejiofor is currently shooting The Martian for Ridley Scott, and after that he will start work on Billy Ray’s remake of The Secret in Their Eyes. The guy is an amazingly talented actor, and it would be awesome to see him jump into the Marvel cinematic universe.

Doctor Strange opens November 4th, 2016.

Fan Art - Jason Momoa as AQUAMAN

Despite the fact that we're about fifteen years into the comic book movie renaissance, some fans still can't get past the fact that the actors who are cast to play certain characters don't look exactly like those characters are portrayed on the page of a comic. They'll nitpick about an actor's hair being the wrong color, or them not being ripped enough, or any number of things related to how they perceive their favorite character should look in live action. Sometimes, nothing can ever live up to their expectations.

But DeviantArtist Rahzzah has created a pretty convincing piece of fan art that should convince even the worst hater that Jason Momoa is the perfect guy to play Aquaman. This is an awesome illustration, and I wouldn't be surprised if the studio ended up using this as inspiration for the real one-sheet when the solo movie comes out in 2018. New Red-Band Trailer for HOT TUB TIME MACHINE 2

We've got a funny new red-band trailer for Hot Tub Time Machine 2 for you to watch today. This movie concept is absolutely absurd, but it sure does make for some goofy and fun entertainment. If you liked the first film, then you'll most likely enjoy this sequel! I do wish that John Cusack had come back, but what can you do?

When Lou (Rob Corddry) finds himself in trouble, Nick (Craig Robinson) and Jacob (Clark Duke) fire up the hot tub time machine in an attempt to get back to the past. But they inadvertently land in the future with Adam Jr. (Adam Scott). Now they have to alter the future in order to save the past… which is really the present, in the sequel from the same team that brought you the original cult hit.

The Steve Pink-directed movie opens on February 20th, 2015 and also stars Chevy Chase and Gillian Jacobs.

Guy Walks Through Video Game History in Awesome Video

This is so cool. I've seen a lot of videos about the history of video games, but never one quite like this. Joe Murayama created this awesome video in which he walks (and jumps, and rolls, and fights) his way through video game history. It's a live-action video with animated effects representing the different eras of games, from Pong to Street Fighter to Grand Theft Auto. It's a great idea executed extremely well, and I'm jealous I didn't come up with this concept myself. Thanks to LaughingSquid for pointing us to this one.

ARROW — Extended Promo for "Midnight City"

If you haven't seen the most recent episode, mild but obvious spoiler ahead.

--

So Oliver Queen is dead, or mostly dead, then they brought him back to life, my guess is with a "miracle pill" with a chocolate coating. But it looks like in the next episode of Arrow he's still out of action for a little while. Even if you already saw the sneak peek at the end of the most recent episode, we have an extended promo that shows 10 seconds of new stuff (mind blown, right?).

Last season was about the tragic downfall of Slade Wilson, and this season seems like the redemption of Maseo Yamashiro. There's also the Ray Palmer storyline that I'm guessing comes front and center toward the season finale.

Iron Man vs Thor: Stop-Motion Battle

We've posted several of YouTube user Counter656's stop-motion videos (here, here, and here). They have all had fun endings. This newest one, titled "Iron Man VS Thor," is no different. There seems to be some product placement for graphic processors, which is a bit weird, but if it helped make the video possible, why not. In a real battle between Iron Man vs Thor, I think Thor would win, but a rematch would hail Iron Man the victor.

Paul Bettany Talks About The Scale of AVENGERS: AGE OF ULTRON

One of the characters we haven't seen much of in any of the trailers for Avengers: Age of Ultron is The Vision, played by Paul Bettany. We've gotten tiny glimpses in concept art and stuff like that, but we've yet to really see him in action.

That hasn't changed just yet (maybe in the next trailer?), but Bettany spoke with Radio Times (via ComingSoon) about the sheer scale of Joss Whedon's sequel, how the cast reacted to seeing the Comic-Con footage for the first time, and more.

"I’ve never been on a bigger set on my entire life than in The Avengers [Age of Ultron]. One [part] seemed to be the corner of a town, with helicopter cameras, and drone cameras flying about. I just haven’t seen anything that big, so it was like being a kid on a film set again.
"This is the biggest thing Marvel have ever done. It was enormous. I remember, we were at Comic-Con, and they showed a portion of the footage, and I was just gobsmacked. And I looked down the row and every one of the Avengers was the same.
"Including Samuel Jackson – and his whole modus operandi is ‘I’ve seen everything before, I’m the most chilled out, relaxed man and I’ve seen everything…’ and he was as knocked out as anyone. It’s huge."

Jackson's been there from the beginning (and so has Bettany, actually, as the voice of J.A.R.V.I.S.), so if they're impressed, I have a feeling this sequel is going to live up to the tremendous amount of hype it's receiving. Avengers: Age of Ultron hits theaters on May 1st.

Real Life Pac-Man Bud Light Superbowl Commercial

Bud Light gets into retro video game territory with their new Super Bowl commercial that features a real life game of Pac-Man. It portrays some random guy who is picked to play a game of real life Pac-Man. In all honesty, something like this looks like it would be a ton of fun to play!

This is a feel-good commercial, so he beats the level and gets his reward, which is, of course, a single bottle of Bud Light. Which is basically owed to him since he never got to take a drink from the one that was handed to him at the bar where he was chosen to play.

THE FLASH Will Be "Diving Deep" Into Time Travel

$

We've seen from episode one of The Flash that time travel will be a huge part of the overall story. Those familiar with Barry Allen's story from the comics have been very happy to see that that element is part of the show. While talking to THR, Grant Gustin (The Flash) shared what we might see toward the end of a very solid first season.

"We are diving deep into the time-travel element and it is going to be wild."

Tom Cavanagh (Dr. Wells) adds,

"It's ultimately why I signed on to this job. Not to play a scientist, but to play a time-traveling bandit. In comic books, when you start talking about time travel — if anybody has followed The Flash, then they know Reverse-Flash and The Flash are not just doing this right now in the present day. They have a long history and there's nothing that we're not going to pursue when we try to tell the story. We're trying to tell all of it."

Gustin concludes with,

"I think it would be fun if it totally changed the show for season two."

Time travel and the butterfly effect have been shown to have a huge ripple effect in the Justice League: Flashpoint Paradox animated movie storyline. Flipping the whole show upside down to pull in elements of that story would be crazy and fun to see.

How To Build The STAR WARS: THE FORCE AWAKENS Stormtrooper Helmet Out of Metal

If you're a geek who happens to also be interested in building things out of metal, this video is for you. YouTube user GoldPointProps shows you a step-by-step process of how to create the new Stormtrooper helmet from J.J. Abrams' upcoming Star Wars: The Force Awakens. If I had all of these tools handy, this is something I might actually consider doing — the final product would look great on a shelf next to a bunch of action figures or in a tricked out man cave. I might actually leave the paint off of it altogether — it looks pretty badass in its pure metal form.

Rumor: WALKING DEAD to Introduce Spin-Off Character for 6 Episode Arc

$
0
0

In a recent update from The Walking Dead creator Robert Kirkman about the upcoming spin-off series, we wrote about how there was a good chance we wouldn't see characters from The Walking Dead appear in the spin-off series. If a new rumor from Nerdist is to be believed, the opposite will actually happen: they report that The Walking Dead is going to bring on one of the lead actors from the spin-off series for a six episode arc.

How will this happen? We're not exactly sure. The spin-off, which is reportedly being called Fear The Walking Dead, is supposedly a prequel that takes place during the time Rick Grimes is in a coma at the beginning of the original show's timeline. It also takes place in Los Angeles, which - if you haven't noticed - is a long way away from Atlanta, and it seems like crossing the country during the zombie apocalypse would be, well, a bit tricky.

So if a character from Fear is going to show up on the next season of The Walking Dead, there could be two possibilities: flashbacks, or the lead character from Fear survives and makes it all the way across the country. If this rumor pans out, I'm hoping they go with the first option, because showing a lead character we haven't even met yet as being alive and well in "the future" of the upcoming prequel's timeline will rob that show of the dramatic tension of wondering whether or not that character survives any of the dangerous situations he or she might find him or herself in.

As usual, we'll have to wait and see how this all plays out, but we wanted to prepare you just in case this rumor ends up being true.
