godzilla-awesome-and-intense-extended-look-trailer

Legendary Pictures has unleashed an extended look trailer for Godzilla, and it is packed to the brim with great new footage. This is the most intense and terrifying trailer released for the movie so far. It also gives us our first real close-up shot of a really pissed off Godzilla. I really love how Bryan Cranston is scared shitless. I've been excited for this film since it was first teased at San Diego Comic-Con, but this is the first time since then since that I've seen something for the film that gave me goosebumps. This trailer is awesome, and you need to watch it now.

In honor of the return of Game of Thrones tonight, here's a video that features every death that has ever happened on the HBO fantasy series. The total count is 5,179 deaths, and the video shows them all in under 3-minutes. The video is from Digg and came with the following description:

A compendium of bloodshed from the first three seasons. We can only hope this is instrumental in convicting George R. R. Martin, our generation's most beloved mass-murderer.

Enjoy the bloody carnage!

Keanu Reeves Teams Up with Eli Roth for KNOCK KNOCK Thriller

Keanu Reeves is set to star in a new psychological thriller from director Eli Roth called Knock Knock. Roth also wrote the film, which tells the story of a happily married family man, played by Reeves, who is left alone for the weekend. Things take a turn for the worse when two beautiful girls show up at his house and turn his life upside down.

Apparently Reeves loved the script and jumped on board not only as the film's star, but as the executive producer as well. Production on the film starts April 14th in Santiago, Chile. Here's what Roth had to say in a statement:

“I had a window before I promote Green Inferno, and I wanted to make a movie like Roman Polanski or Paul Verhoeven made when they were young, a classic psychosexual thriller that’s not a horror movie, but would have everyone on the edge of their seats. Getting Keanu is amazing, he’s a fine actor who is perfect for this. I feel I can have this movie ready for Toronto if I need to, and he’s catching a plane tomorrow and we’ll be fitting him for wardrobe right away.”

I enjoy watching Reeves in the movies he makes. I know a lot of people don't really care for Reeves, but I think he's a fun actor. This could turn out to be a solid role for him. It will be interesting to see what Roth has planned. I am fan of the older films directed by Roman Polanski and Paul Verhoeven, but lets face it… Roth is nowhere near as talented a director.

Key & Peele to Produce POLICE ACADEMY Reboot

New Line has been looking to reboot the Police Academy franchise for a few years now. Back in 2012 Tosh. O director Scott Zabielski was attached to direct the film, but he has since left the project. The production company has now brought in Keegan-Michael Key and Jordan Peele, best known for sketch comedy show Key & Peele, to produce the project.

The franchise's original producer Paul Maslansky is also back to help resurrect the comedy film series. The first film was released in 1984 and starred Steve Guttenberg as Mahoney, the leader of a ragtag group of police recruits who are called upon to protect the city. It was previously revealed that the new film will most likely be completely recast, and there no word on if Key and Peele will also start in the film. I don't see why they wouldn't want to be a part of it, they would be the best part of the movie. Here's what Maslansky had to say in a statement to THR:

"It's going to be very worthwhile to the people who remember it and to those who saw it on TV. It's going to be a new class. We hope to discover new talent and season it with great comedians. It'll be anything but another movie with a numeral next to it. And we'll most probably retain the wonderful musical theme."

I love Key and Peele's style of comedy, and it's a perfect fit for this franchise. The fact that they are involved with the project actually sparks some excitement in me, and gives me hope that this will be a really funny movie.

Actors Who Could Replace Hugh Jackman as Wolverine

actors-who-could-replace-hugh-jackman-as-wolverine10

It's really hard to imagine anyone other than Hugh Jackman playing Wolverine in the movies. He's been playing the character for so long! It's been 14 years since he was introduced in Bryan Singer's X-Men. The part was originally supposed to go to Russell Crowe, but he passed on it and told the studio to give it Jackman, so they did. The actor himself has said that his replacement is inevitable. As much as we love him as the character, he can't keep it up forever.

"Look, that’s inevitable, man. Anyone who thinks they're indispensable in this business is fooling themselves. But I feel unbelievably blessed to have this part. I never thought in a million years I'd get to play him seven times. Every day I walk on the set with the claws and the hair, I thank my lucky stars. I don't take any of it for granted. To think that in a second version we'd have this cast and this director, and you guys don’t know the script, but I would say probably the best script of all of them, is pretty amazing. I think that's why I'm still here. I'm sure by the way, that it won't always be my decision to always be here. At some point, someone will close the door on me…"

So when the his time is up, who will replace him? It has got to be an actor who can at least sport the infamous hair look without looking ridiculous, and he has to be crazy fit. Jackman previously said Channing Tatum could "probably play him." I don't think Tatum could pull off that rugged Wolverine look though.

There's always a chance that FOX could replace him with an unknown actor who can grow into the role as they keep making movies. That way they could get a great deal. If they do go with a known actor, there are a few out there that might be able to actually pull it off. Here are some I think might be decent choices.

Tom Hardy - The guy has the build and intensity of Wolverine. He's also an incredible actor. If you want to see him go into berserker rage, just watch Warrior.

Joel Edgerton - He's got a burly tough guy look that would easily fit the part. He has what it takes to sport the look, and the guy has talent.

Henry Cavill - Yeah, I know he already plays Superman, but if Chris Evans can play two Marvel characters, and Ryan Reynolds can play both DC and Marvel characters, then Cavill can play Wolverine, dammit!

Luke Evans - Look at that picture and tell me he couldn't play Wolverine.

Sam Worthington - He's not my favorite actor, but still one that I think could pull it off if cast.

Gerard Butler - He might be an older choice for the part, but he could still kick some ass as the character. He's already played some great, badass characters in his career, so I think a role like this would be easy for him.

Charles Mesure - He also looks a bit older, and he's the least known actor on the list, but just look at the guy! He's been in TV shows – V, Desperate Housewives, and a bunch of other series.

What other actors do you think could be added to the list? Who would you like to see replace Jackman as Wolverine?

Kevin Feige Discusses CAPTAIN AMERICA 2 Easter Eggs

Spoilers ahead if you haven't seen the movie.

Captain America: The Winter Soldier kicked box office ass over the weekend, and I'm sure most of you have seen it by now. This is my favorite Marvel movie so far, and it had a few easter eggs in it that you probably noticed. In a recent interview with Crave Online, Marvel Studios president Kevin Feige discussed an easter egg involving Doctor Strange. It's no secret that Marvel is developing a Doctor Strange film, and the character was introduced into the Marvel cinematic universe in The Winter Soldier

When Captain America and Black Widow are interrogating Agent Jasper Sitwell, Sitwell mentions a list of potential future threats to Hydra. On that list is "Stephen Strange," which is the name of the sorcerer supreme. When asked about the inclusion of the character's name, Feige replied,

"Well, 'we' know what it means and where we want to head with it, but we were comfortable with keeping it in there and leaving it in there because there are a few different ways to interpret it. The whole thing, what Sitwell’s saying is, this algorithm is going to predict if you’re going to become a problem for Hydra or not. So you don’t have to just be Tony Stark, actively plotting to save the world. You could be a kid whose SAT scores and whose essays have indicated that you’re going to be a problem one day. So is Stephen Strange the Sorcerer Supreme? Probably not at that point. Is he an unbelievably talented neurosurgeon who’s opinionated and kind of arrogant? Probably. That might put him on the list."

Feige went on to talk about Hawkeye and why he wasn't included in The Winter Soldier. He explains that all will be answered in Avengers: Age of Ultron.

"We will discover, later, the answers to that question. But it really came down to how many players can you have on the field at this time? We really wanted to bring in Falcon, we really wanted to team [Captain America] up with Black Widow, we really wanted Fury to have more of a part than he’s ever had in any of the other movies before. We wanted, ever so briefly, to introduce Sharon Carter. And we had a fun place for Maria Hill to be involved. So we didn’t want to just have, “Hey, I’m Hawkeye! Hey, I’m Iron Man!” We want to avoid the brief cameos of the week....Not every character from every movie is going to be in Age of Ultron, for sure. But Joss [Whedon] is excited and, for the characters you haven’t seen since the first Avengers – like Hawkeye, like Hulk – there’s a reason for that, and that gets showcased quite prominently in Age of Ultron."

He went on to talk about how the idea of S.H.I.E.L.D. being Hydra came about:

"I’ve been thinking since the first Captain America film that if the SSR was a… you know, the SSR was the organization that Captain was a part of in the first movie, and had the super soldier program. That was basically our version of the precursor to SHIELD, which in real life there was… I forget what it was called now, but there was a division that was a precursor to the CIA in real life, and in real life there was Operation Paperclip, which Widow mentions. They worked with Nazi scientists and Nazi equipment, and that’s part of where NASA came from.

"I had this thought for a long time that the SSR defeated Hydra, brought in their scientists, brought in their weaponry, that’s what SHIELD was founded on. But what if there was more to that than meets the eye? In Avengers, Captain America finds a Hydra helmet, Hydra weapons, and realizes that SHIELD has this whole plan Nick Fury was even aware of, of taking Hydra weapons and building them again. So I thought, what if SHIELD was Hyrda?"

Finally, Feige was asked, "Are we to believe that maybe that’s another one of the Infinity Stones, or is that just pure speculation at this point?"

"Well, it’s certainly pure speculation at this point. I’m not even sure if we even recognize Loki’s scepter [as an Infinity Stone], but that’s a big hint as to what will be causing them trouble in the next movie."

It's going to be fun seeing how all of this plays out in the future Marvel films. Captain America: The Winter Soldier is currently in theaters, and Avengers: Age of Ultron is set for release on May 1, 2015.

Artist Matt Ferguson has created a ton of extremely cool art that we've shared with you over the years. You can go through and see a lot of the art we've posted by clicking here. His latest is an awesome piece of Guardians of the Galaxy art, and it features the four main characters – Star-Lord, Gamora, Drax, Groot, and of course, Rocket Raccoon. This movie looks like it's going to be insanely entertaining, and I hope that audiences will go out and see it. This is going to be a very different Marvel film than anything that we've seen before, and I hope people are ready and accepting of the craziness that it has to offer.

STAR WARS EPISODE VII Is Already Shooting and Casting Is Almost Complete

Disney Chief Alan Horn has confirmed that Star Wars: Episode VII is already shooting, and that most of the cast is in place. He revealed this bit of news during an interview with THR’s Stephen Galloway at Loyola Marymount University School of Film and Television in Los Angeles. He said the casting has been one of the hardest parts of it, but adds

“We have a lot of them [in place]. We’re just not completely done yet.”

I assume we can expect an official casting announcement from the studio very soon. It's going to be really cool to see who is coming back from the original series and who the new cast will be. I trust that J.J. Abrams will bring fans a cast that they will be happy with. I think Star Wars is in good hands, and I have confidence in what Abrams is creating.

When asked if the script was complete, Horn said, “It actually is now.” As we reported earlier, the script that Michael Arndt wrote for the film had some issues and needed some changes. So Abrams stepped in with Lawrence Kasdan to do some rewrites to fix things. It looks like everyone is happy with what they did with it. Horn emphasized the importance of the script saying,

“It’s all about the screenplay. It has to be screenplay, screenplay, screenplay.”

You can watch the Star Wars part of the interview below. It's really excited to hear that the film is actually in production. I can't wait to actually start seeing stuff from it! The movie is set to be released in theaters on December 18th, 2015.

Disney Developing WRECK-IT RALPH Sequel

Disney has hit big with the last couple of animated features they've made. Wreck-It Ralph and Frozen both made a ton of money at the box office. We know that Disney is going to develop a Frozen sequel, but a sequel to Wreck-It Ralph has been up in the air. It looks like that's no longer the case. In an interview with Collider the film's composer Henry Jackson said that Disney is in the early stages of development. When asked if he had heard anything about the sequel, he said,

"To be honest with you. I can’t tell you more, not because I’m being coy, but I believe that it is officially on the cards. I don’t know any more other than a story is indeed being written. I’d be very surprised not to. I’m not blowing my own trumpet.  Forget about the music. Just the movie itself I thought was a fantastically imaginative and creative piece of work."

In previous interviews, the first film's director Rich Moore has revealed about what he wants to do in the sequel. He talked about including Mario, Dirk the Daring, and Tron, and also talked about exploring online gaming

I thought Wreck-It Ralph was fantastic, and I figured Disney would eventually get around to making a sequel. This is such a great world that the filmmakers have created, and there are so many different ways they can take the story. Seeing what they did in the first film, I think whatever they do with the sequel will be fun.

Most Memorable Tattoos Featured in Movies

$

I've recently been circling around the idea of actually getting a tattoo. If I get one, it will be my first. But I've been thinking about some of the tattoos that I've seen in the movies over the years, and I started looking them up online to remind myself of what they looked like. I would never get a tattoo that I saw in a movie, it'd have to be an original design, but I was looking for a little inspiration.

While going through all the movie tattoos that I could think of, I decided to put together a list of some of the most memorable tattoos have been featured on the big screen. Here they are in no particular order.

Reign of Fire - Matthew McConaughey

How many of you forgot about how badass McConaughey was in this dragon slaying action film?! He sported some crazy cool tattoo art in it.

Memento - Guy Pierce

If you have a really bad memory, there's nothing wrong with tattooing notes about your life that you want to remember. Especially if you're out for revenge.

The Girl With the Dragon Tattoo - Rooney Mara

This was a beautiful tattoo that serves as a symbol of strength and revenge. The tattoos that she has are meant to be a map of the character's past.

American History X - Edward Norton

The role of Derek Vinyard is by far Norton's greatest performance and his most memorable character. Those symbols of hate made a lot of people uncomfortable, but they were necessary to tell this powerful story.

Wanted - Angelina Jolie

Any badass female assassin needs to have a collection of cool tattoos. The actress's real tattoos are a part of the design.

Cape Fear - Robert NeNiro

Symbols of vengeance and biblical quotations are the kind of tattoos you get when someone crosses your path and puts you in prison for years.

From Dusk Till Dawn - George Clooney

Tribal sleeves were so '90s. Only Clooney could pull it off.

Red Dragon - Ralph Fiennes

This tattoo reveal was a "holy shit" creepy moment in the film. When he revealed this tattoo, it was the icing on the cake of how crazy and terrifying his character was.

Eastern Promises - Viggo Mortensen

"In Russian prisons, your life story is written on your body, in tattoos. You don't have tattoos, you don't exist."

Snatch - Brad Pitt

I personally think that Mickey O'Neil is one the best characters that Pitt has ever played. The "pikey" boxer is covered in homemade tattoos that show images of a life of poverty.

Star Wars: Episode I - The Phantom Menace - Ray Park

Yes, this wasn't the greatest movie in the Star Wars franchise, but you can't deny that Darth Maul was a badass villain. I loved the look of the tribal face tattoos covering his red skin. They just gave him a badass look. Here's a little background on the tattoo.

Maul was subjected, shortly after birth, to an initiation ritual during which he was immersed in a "magic" oily bath, and covered head to toe in black and red tattoos. Later stripped of his black Nightbrother markings, Maul was left solely red-skinned. Agonizing Sith tattoos were applied personally by Darth Sidious in an attempt to cleanse Maul's mind as well as demonstrating Maul's complete dedication to the dark side.

Romper Stomper - Russell Crowe

In 1992 Crowe played a violent neo-Nazi Australian skinhead. This was a great film, and Crowe was amazing in it. This was obviously before he became the major star that he is now.

I know I didn't get all of them as there are a ton of tattoos in film. What are some of the most memorable movie tattoos for you?

It was so great to see the return of Game of Thrones last night! HBO delivered an amazing fourth season premiere that got us up to speed on all the characters, and I'm so excited to see where this season takes us! The network has released a promo for the second episode, called "The Lion and the Rose," and here's the description.

Tyrion lends Jaime (Nikolaj Coster-Waldau) a hand. Joffrey (Jack Gleeson) and Margaery (Natalie Dormer) host a breakfast. At Dragonstone, Stannis (Stephen Dillane) loses patience with Davos (Liam Cunningham). Ramsay (Iwan Rheon) finds a purpose for his pet. North of the Wall, Bran (Isaac Hempstead Wright) sees where they must go.

Whose story are you most excited to see play out this season?

The Russo Brothers Talk CAPTAIN AMERICA 3 - Release Date Confirmed

Captain America: The Winter Soldier directors Joe and Anthony Russo were recently guests on the Empire Podcast. They discussed their film, which is currently in theaters, and also talked about where they are on Captain America 3. (Disney and Marvel have also confirmed that the movie will be released on May 6th, 2016, pitting it against Batman Vs. Superman.)

The Winter Soldier was such an amazing film, I can only imagine how incredible the next one will be. During the podcast they give an update on the progress on the third film saying that that there have been a lot of discussions with writers Christopher Markus and Stephen McFeely and that they have a general idea on the direction that they will take Captain America 3

If you've already seen The Winter Solider, then it shouldn't come as a surprise to you that the third film will focus on Steve Rogers' best friend, Bucky.

"The most that we can say about it at this point, is that Bucky's story is not finished. It's an introduction to Bucky's story. So if you want to guess at what that movie will be about..you can assume this will be a continuation of that story"

One of our readers, Dave S, gave a pretty solid suggestion as to what we might see happen in the next film. When talking about The Winter Soldier in the comment section of the review I wrote he said,

"This film also sets up the inevitable "Death of Captain America" storyline...especially with Emily VanCamp being introduced, first as Kate/Agent 13, but ultimately as Sharon Carter (Peggy Carter's niece), and Frank Grillo as Brock Rumlow (aka: Crossbones). Combine that with Bucky/Winter Soldier starting to remember who he is and what his relationship with Steve/Cap was...and of course he'll be the new Captain America."

This is just speculation, but it does sound like it could be the direction Marvel takes this franchise. What would you like to see happen in Captain America 3? Click here to listen to the podcast.

It's been 15 years since the classic teen comedy 10 Things I Hate About You was released. Since selfies are all the rage, here's one of the film's four main actors that was taken back in 1999. It includes Heath Ledger, Joseph Gordon-Levitt, Julia Stiles and Larisa Oleynik. Who would have thought at the time that both Ledger and Levitt would end up playing big roles in an epic Batman trilogy? They sure did turn out to be incredibly talented actors. Stiles is also doing pretty well for herself these days. You still see her around in movies, and she also had a run on Dexter. As for Oleynik, she currently has a reccurring role on the TV show Pretty Little Liars

Tom Hardy Teams with Ridley Scott for TABOO

Tom Hardy will produce and star in a new series for BBC One called Taboo. The series was created by Steven Knight (Eastern Promises, Peaky Blinders) and will be produced by Ridley Scott (Prometheus, Blade Runner). Taboo follows a “rogue adventurer” who sets out to build his family’s failing business into a trade empire all his own. It is set during the war of 1812. Hardy will, of course, play the rogue. He released this scintillating statement.

“We're creating a flagship British drama for this generation, a hybrid of orthodox and unconventional story telling, packed with darkness and spirited characters. I think Steve Knight and Ridley Scott are the perfect partners and the BBC the perfect home for this hugely exciting and compelling project.”

This project is a bit of a reunion for Hardy, as he has worked with Knight and Scott before. He recently finished Child 44, which Scott produced, and Knight wrote and directed Hardy in Locke, which hits theaters later this month. (You can read my review for Locke here, or watch a video review here. The trailer is here.)

I will watch Hardy in anything. I don’t even care if he does his whacked out Bane voice the whole time. So I hope an American network picks up the rights for this one in the States. In fact, I am assuming that will happen, but nothing has been announced yet. The 8 episode series begins production in January 2015.

Synopsis:

Hardy will play James Keziah Delaney, a rogue adventurer living in 1813 who returns from Africa with 14 ill-gotten diamonds to seek vengeance after the death of his father. Refusing to sell the family business to the East India Company, he sets out to build his own trade and shipping empire and finds himself playing a dangerous game with two warring nations, Britain and America.

The-Leftover-Theroux-2014.jpg

Damon Lindelof's upcoming HBO thriller The Leftovers looks like a really damn cool series. The story picks up in the aftermath of what has been described as a Rapture-like event that has caused the disappearance of millions of people around the world. HBO has released the first promo teaser for the show, and as you'll see, it's unsettling and intriguing. The show stars  Justin Theroux and Liv Tyler. Here's the synopsis:

When 2% of the world’s population abruptly disappears without explanation, the world struggles to understand just what they’re supposed to do about it. The new drama series ‘The Leftovers’ is the story of the people who didn’t make the cut.

Based on the bestselling novel by Tom Perrotta, ‘The Leftovers’ follows Kevin Garvey, a father of two and the chief of police in a small New York suburb, as he tries to maintain some semblance of normalcy when the notion no longer applies. The series is executive produced by ‘Lost’ co-creator Damon Lindelof, together with Perrotta and ‘Friday Night Lights’ executive producers Peter Berg and Sarah Aubrey. Lindelof serves as the series showrunner.

The first season has ten episodes, and it's set to premiere on Sunday, June 15th. I'm excited for this!
