FOX and director Josh Trank have cast Toby Kebbell in the villainous role of Doctor Doom for their Fantastic Four reboot. Kebbell has had a good amount of strong supporting roles for films such as Wrath of the Titans, Rock-n-Rolla, War Horse, The East, and Legendary Pictures' upcoming adaptation of Warcraft.

Kebbell will join Miles Teller, Kate Mara, Michael B. Jordan, and Jamie Bell in the reboot that is scheduled to shoot this spring. The movie will be based on the Marvel comic The Ultimate Fantastic Four, and if you couldn't tell from the casting, the story will focus on younger versions of the characters. It makes sense that Kebbell got cast, especially since he's already worked with Kick-Ass and X-Men: First Class director Matthew Vaughn, who is producing the film. 

A lot of fans still aren't on board with this film. In fact, I've been seeing a lot of hate for it. I want it to be good, especially since they brought together an incredibly talented young cast to help bring it to life. 

The Fantastic Four is set to be released on June 19th, 2015, with a sequel coming in the summer of 2017.

Cory Michael Smith has been cast in the role of Edward Nygma in the new Batman-inspired series Gotham. Nygma eventually becomes the Riddler. The drama will explore the origin story of Gotham police commissioner James Gordon, played by Ben McKenzie.

Nygma is a brilliant yet socially awkward forensic scientist who’s eccentric and outgoing and desperate to be liked. As of right now, this is only a guest spot in the pilot episode that is currently being shot. It could – and should – turn into a regular role, though. It's the freakin' Riddler! 

Smith joins the rest of the cast, which includes Donal Logue, Jada Pinkett Smith, Zabryna Guevara, Sean Pertwee, Robin Lord Taylor, Erin Richards, David Mazouz, and Camren Bicondova.

Smith most recently worked on the HBO miniseries Olive Kitteridge with Frances McDormand, a movie called Carol, opposite Cate Blanchett, and Camp X-Ray with Kristen Stewart.

After ditching Max Landis' take on Chronicle 2, Fox has hired a new screenwriter to pen the sequel. The writer's name is Jack Stanley, and he's a relative newcomer. 

He wrote spec script for a film called Sweetheart, which tells "the story of a female assassin whose attempt to get out of the biz is thrown awry by her high school reunion." It hit the Black List and helped the writer get his start. He also wrote a werewolf thriller called Silver. Neither of those projects have been produced yet, but they are in the process. 

The version that Landis was developing was too dark for the studio, which wanted to take it in a different direction. Landis ultimately created the story, so it would have been great to see his vision of how it continued. Hopefully Stanley is able to deliver a script that fans can enjoy.

AMC has released the first teaser poster for the fifth season of The Walking Dead. Rick made it very clear at the end of the season 4 that the people at Terminus were "screwing with the wrong people." The new poster simply says "Survive," and I can't wait to see how they do that!

There are a lot of Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles fans out there that don't care for the characters' look in Michael Bay's new movie. I don't really have a big problem with them, but I do agree that they could be better. A fan has actually stepped up to the plate to show us how much better the designs could be, and they give the turtles a more classic look. I definitely prefer the fan-made version over the new movie version. I think Bay and director Jonathan Liebesman still have time to fix things digitally if they want to, but I don't think they will.

We've got another cool film clip from DC Entertainment's animated film, Son of Batman. This one features Batman facing off with Killer Croc. 

Hidden atop a secret mountain stronghold lies the League of Shadows and its fearless leader, Ra’s al Ghul. Together with his equally dangerous daughter Talia, he oversees a trained army of assassins with plans for global domination. But an uprising from within the league now threatens to shift the balance of power and sends Talia and her young son, Damian, fleeing to Gotham City. With assassins on their trail, Talia seeks the protection of Batman, who, unbeknownst to him, is the boy’s father. With his son in tow, Batman wages war against the villain Deathstroke and the League of Shadows, all while teaching his headstrong boy that one can’t fight crime by becoming a criminal. With help from Gotham’s finest, including Commissioner Gordon and Nightwing, Batman will soon discover that his son and most trusted ally are one and the same!

The film is based on a story arc from Grant Morrison’s long run of writing Batman comics, illustrated by Andy Kubert. It features the voices of Jason O'Mara as Batman/Bruce Wayne, Stuart Allan as Damian, Morena Baccarin as Talia, Giancarlo Esposito as Ra's Al Ghul, David McCallum as Alfred Pennyworth, Xander Berkeley as Kirk Langstrom (aka Man-Bat), and Thomas Gibson as Deathstroke.

The movie is set to be released on DVD, Blu-ray, and digital download on May 6th. It will have its world premiere at this year's WonderCon on Friday April 18th.

This is one of the gnarliest worm creature designs that I think I've ever seen. It comes from artist Dave Rapoza, and I love the craziness of it. The artist says he "wanted to channel some Super Metroid for it." I think he nailed it.

Brad Pitt seems to be enjoying his time in World War II. So far he's been in Quentin Tarantino's Inglourious Basterds and David Ayer's upcoming tank film, Fury. According to Deadline he's looking at joining an untitled WWII romantic thriller that was scripted by Steven Knight. 

There aren't many details on the story at this time, but with Knight and Pitt involved it should be a good one. Knight is the guy who wrote David Cronenberg's Eastern Promises, so I'm sure the script is going to be incredibly solid. As for the actor, he's currently developing a sequel to his zombie film, World War Z.

Improv Everywhere has released a new "Movies in Real Life" video that features a pretty cool stunt. They bring Spider-Man to life and have him jump off a 20-story building in Midtown Manhattan surprising random New Yorkers walking on the street below as he saves a girl who is being kidnapped. You'd think they could get a better costume for something like this.

Scarlett Johansson has been kicking ass on the big screen recently, and her action career is blowing up. She's a talented actress and plays the lead in director Luc Besson's sci-fi action-thriller Lucy. Today we bring you the first trailer for the movie, and it looks pretty freakin' insane… and I mean that in the best way possible. 

The story centers on a woman who is accidentally caught in a dark deal who turns the tables on her captors and transforms into a merciless warrior evolved beyond human logic. She's forced to be a drug mule, and accidentally swallows her cargo, giving her some ultra extra strength and brain power. You get to see Johansson go awesomely ballistic. 

The movie is set to be released on August 8th, and I'm way excited about seeing it!

This is the second trailer for James Franco and Emma Roberts' dark high school coming-of-age drama Palo Alto. It was written and directed by Francis Ford Coppola's granddaughter, Gia Coppola. The movie is based on a collection of short stories written by Franco. Here's the synopsis:

Shy, sensitive April (Roberts) is the class virgin -a popular soccer player and frequent babysitter for her single-dad coach, Mr. B. (Franco). Teddy (Jack Kilmer) is an introspective artist whose best friend and sidekick Fred (Nat Wolff) is an unpredictable live wire with few filters or boundaries. While April negotiates a dangerous affair with Mr. B., and Teddy performs community service for a DUI – secretly carrying a torch for April, who may or may not share his affection – Fred seduces Emily (Zoe Levin), a promiscuous loner who seeks validation through sexual encounters. One high-school party bleeds into another as April and Teddy finally acknowledge their mutual affection, and Fred’s escalating recklessness spirals into chaos.

The movie also stars Val Kilmer and is set to be released in select theaters on May 9th. The movie got some positive buzz after it premiered at the Telluride Film Festival, so it might worth be checking out.

Lionsgate has released a ton of character posters for The Expendables 3. They feature Sylvester Stallone, Mel Gibson, Antonio Banderas, Victor Ortiz, Harrison Ford, Terry Crews, Jet Li, Glenn Powell, Kelsey Grammer, Arnold Schwarzenegger, Ronda Rousey, Wesley Snipes, Jason Statham, Kellan Lutz, Dolph Lundgren, and Randy Couture.

These character posters give us more of a behind-the-scenes, unconventional look at the action stars, who look like they are having fun.

In The Expendables 3, Barney (Sylvester Stallone), Christmas (Jason Statham) and the rest of the team come face-to-face with Conrad Stonebanks (Mel Gibson), who years ago co-founded The Expendables with Barney. Stonebanks subsequently became a ruthless arms trader and someone who Barney was forced to kill… or so he thought. Stonebanks, who eluded death once before, now is making it his mission to end The Expendables - but Barney has other plans. Barney decides that he has to fight old blood with new blood, and brings in a new era of Expendables team members, recruiting individuals who are younger, faster and more tech-savvy. The latest mission becomes a clash of classic old-school style versus high-tech expertise in the Expendables’ most personal battle yet.

This was my favorite April Fool's joke yesterday, and it comes from IGN. It's a funny fake DLC trailer for Titanfall that puts Optimus Prime right in the middle of the action! They put a lot of effort into this prank, and I wish it was real! How awesome would it be to see a goofy-looking Optimus Prime running around while playing the game!?

Here's a fantastic video montage that pays tribute to the art of modern cinematography. There are a lot of great things being done with cinematography these days, and movies are just looking more and more amazing. The video is called Ode to (21st Century) Cinematographers, it was created by Erick Lee, and here's a note that came along with it. 

This is a compilation of SOME of my favorite shots from numerous cinematographers from around the world, roughly during the past decade. Due to not only wanting to keep a consistent look, but to also respect the cinematographers' work by not re-cropping 16x9 media, I only used movies that were shot around a 2.40:1 aspect ratio. As you can imagine, this not only limited what I was able to use, but also prevented me from using some of my favorite display of cinematography. Among those include "Children of Men" by Emmanuel Lubezki, "Prisoners" by Roger Deakins, "Hugo" by Robert Richardson, and "Only God Forgives" by Larry Smith, to name a few.

Evian has released their full commercial featuring Spider-Man and his baby counterpart busting some dance movies on the streets of New York. I love this ad. It's extremely fun and insanely adorable. I know you'll like this.

This promo gives us the first footage from Halle Berry's new sci-fi series Extant. It's produced by Steven Spielberg, and it follows the story of an astronaut who goes off on a 13 month solo mission in space and comes back with some kind of alien parasite fetus thing. This looks like it has potential to be a cool series, and it's set to premiere on CBS on July 9th.

A fan of Peter Jackson's The Hobbit has taken the first two films and cut together a fun movie trailer mashup called The Hobbit: The Desolation of an Unexpected Journey. It's really well made, and it got me a bit more excited to see the last film in the trilogy, The Hobbit: There and Back Again. Thanks to /Film for the heads up on this!
